Theo goes to visit Abe in his jail cell.

Claire is at home complaining about people online talking trash about Abe. Tripp comes in which surprises her. Tripp tells her that she was right that he was running away so he decided to man up.

At the Pub, Joey thanks Roman for everything he's done to help him. Roman tells him that he loves him and he's proud of taking responsibility. Joey mentions that the DA cut him a deal but now he's ready to face prison. Joey says he hates what it's doing to Kayla though. Kayla comes in and tells Joey that he was right that she raised him to be honest so she understands why he has to do this. Kayla claims she's okay but Joey argues that she won't be okay until she stops pushing Steve away.

In her hotel room, Bonnie studies up on her past with Justin until Steve shows up. She answers the door and calls him Patch which he notes she hasn't done in a while. Steve says he came because she always has a way of getting his head straight. Steve hugs her and says he feels like his whole world is falling apart. Bonnie tells him to tell her all about it and asks if it's trouble with Kayla. Steve says it's not just her as it's really about Joey. Steve goes over the story of telling everyone that he killed Ava while he was really covering for Joey. Bonnie acts surprised to all of this which confuses Steve. Steve talks about how Joey finally confessed so he's going to prison today. Bonnie realizes who he could run in to and starts to worry so Steve questions who he could run in to.

At the police station, Hope tells Jennifer that she was just as shocked at the evidence against Abe. Jennifer questions what the evidence is. Hope explains the jewelry purchased using counterfeit bills. Jennifer argues against it. Commissioner Raines states that Hope can't say anymore because she doesn't know anymore since the case was put together by the FBI. Jennifer wants to speak to the agent. Raines responds that it's Eli.

Eli goes to leave the Martin House but Julie stops him and says he's going to make time to talk. Eli is late for a press conference but Julie says she is furious with Eli over what happened to Abe and she wants the house back. Eli argues that he didn't want it to be Abe. Julie insists it's not him since Abe is the most upstanding man she knows.

Jennifer questions the arrest being all Eli's doing. Raines explains that Eli instructed them to arrest Abe so she will have to question him. Jennifer says she'd like to but he's not here. Raines declares the press conference over and walks away. Jennifer tells Hope this is insane and asks why Abe would be involved in this. Hope responds that if Abe is innocent, he will be cleared. Jennifer notes that she didn't say that on record. Jennifer wants to know what else is going on here.

Abe tells Theo he shouldn't be here. Theo asks what the hell is going on since it's all over the internet. Abe says he's so sorry. Theo wants him to tell him it's not true.

Claire tells Tripp about Joey turning himself in. Tripp assures it wasn't his idea as he didn't want Joey to go to prison since he gets now that Ava really messed with him. Tripp swore not to turn Joey in but he was sick of living with the guilt. Claire admits Joey hasn't seemed like himself in a long time. Tripp confirms that Joey is going to prison today which surprises Claire. Claire mentions that Kayla texted for her and Theo to go to the Pub today to say goodbye. Tripp adds that Steve invited him but he didn't feel right as it feels like it's his fault. Claire argues that Steve considers him part of the family. Tripp feels he has to earn his place and he hasn't done that yet.

Kayla tells Joey not to worry about Steve. Joey doesn't want them splitting up because of him. Kayla says it wouldn't be because of him and she has accepted that he's going to prison. Kayla asks if Joey would have come to this same conclusion if Tripp hadn't got here. Joey talks about feeling the guilt long before Tripp got here. Joey admits he's scared but assures that he can get through it if he knows Kayla and Steve will be alright. Joey says they need each other and he needs them to be together. Roman comes over and asks for a moment with Kayla so Joey steps away. Roman tells Kayla that she raised a good son so she should listen to him. Roman adds that she and Steve will need to lean on each other after saying goodbye to Joey. Kayla responds that she can't now and maybe not ever.

Abe knows Theo is confused and angry but he swears he would never knowingly break the law. Theo questions why he wanted his laptop so bad and he didn't want him working for the DiMeras. Theo notes that the only things he did for the DiMeras were about Dario. Theo questions if Abe took his laptop so he wouldn't find out he was helping Dario and stealing from the DiMeras too?

Eli tells Julie that he can't let his personal feelings get in the way of justice. Julie tells Eli to think this through and questions why Abe would get involved in counterfeit money. Eli says the Salem police will look into it. Julie accuses him of letting Hope do his dirty work. Julie complains that Hope and Abe have been friends forever and their children grew up together. Julie declares that Eli is turning his back on his own family.

Jennifer tells Hope that nothing she says will be in the Spectator so she just wants to talk to her as her cousin and Abe's friend. Hope hated arresting Abe and what it must be doing to Lani and Theo but she has an obligation to uphold the law. Justin arrives, saying that Lani called him to represent Abe. Hope mentions that Abe has an attorney and it was his decision. Jennifer questions why Abe wouldn't want Justin after what he did for Sonny. Justin notes he and Adrienne being relieved and asks Jennifer about Abigail. She tells him she's doing better and will make a full recovery so they feel blessed. Jennifer mentions Lucas always texting to make sure they were okay. Justin tells Jennifer that Lucas is going to need her support now because Adrienne broke up with him and decided she wanted to be with him so they are back together, which surprises Hope and Jennifer.

Bonnie argues that Joey is just a kid going to prison. Steve mentions calling in some favors and convinced the DA to send Joey to a minimum security prison. Bonnie tells him he did right. Steve says now they have to watch him go to prison and say goodbye to him. Steve adds that Kayla blames him for this and kicked him out. Bonnie says she'll get over it but Steve is not so sure. Steve mentions they will be getting together at the Pub so everyone can say goodbye to Joey and he knows she would want to be there. Bonnie mentions not really spending much time with him lately so she doesn't think she should be there but Steve insists that he needs her support there so she agrees to go. Steve mentions that Lucas is invited too but Bonnie informs him that they broke up. Steve didn't even know they were having problems and guesses that's why she seems off today. Bonnie declares Justin is the only one for her and they are already back together. Steve didn't see that coming. Bonnie notes that nobody did, especially not Lucas. Steve states that Adrienne is full of surprises today.

Abe tells Theo that he is not connected to Dario or any of his criminal activities. Theo questions him not saying that in the first place. Abe insists this is all a mistake. Theo asks if he will be okay. Abe says he will but he hates what it's doing to Theo. Abe promises this will be over soon. Theo hopes he's right.

Eli tells Julie that Commissioner Raines wanted Hope to arrest Abe while he's sorry she had to be a part of this. Eli tells her that he has to go but promises to review all the evidence and make sure Abe is treated fairly if he's the man she says he is. Eli says if so it will all work out in the end. Eli adds that if he doesn't keep his word, she can kick him out and take the house back. Julie says she doesn't want to do that. Eli knows he doesn't want to be on her bad side as he exits.

Jennifer tells Justin that Lucas never told her about he and Adrienne. Justin says it happened yesterday and he was as surprised as anyone. Justin calls Lucas a good man and hopes he can make peace with this. Jennifer mentions the get together before Joey leaves. Jennifer goes to call Lucas to check on him. Hope asks Justin if Adrienne said what changed her mind. Justin says not exactly. Hope thought Adrienne and Lucas were happy. Justin brings up their history and suggests it must have caught up with her. Hope says she's happy for Justin. Hope advises him not to rush in to anything and to make sure it's what they both want. Justin feels it sounds like she might change her mind again. Hope just doesn't want to see him hurt.

Joey returns to Kayla at the Pub and asks what Roman said about Steve. Steve then enters the Pub and greets them. Joey decides to go help Roman so Steve sits with Kayla. Steve knows how much this is hurting her. Kayla believes it's what Joey has to do. Steve knows how hard it is and wants her to know he made some calls to do everything he can to make sure Joey is safe. Steve promises that Joey will make it through this. Kayla thanks him but says this just shouldn't be happening. Steve feels it was bound to happen because Joey was never going to be at peace. Steve admits he should've thought more about the impact bringing Tripp here would have on Joey but he couldn't stand the thought of not knowing his child. Steve brings up everything they went through to find their way back to each other. Steve declares that coming home to her at night means more to him than anything and he loves her so much. Steve adds that he can't lose her again. Kayla admits that finding out Joey wanted to confess and go to prison may have made her say things that went too far so she's sorry. Steve says she doesn't need to apologize and he just wants to know it's not over between them. Kayla can't imagine getting through this without him. Steve declares they will do this together and be there for Joey. Joey comes back out and hugs them.

Claire gets a text from Theo that he's seeing Abe but is on his way over. Tripp is surprised they are still friends. Claire assures they are just friends because she screwed that up like she does everything else. Tripp encourages that Theo will come around. Tripp praises Claire being a cool person and says she stopped him from leaving town and helped him see how lucky he is to have Steve. Tripp hugs Claire as Theo walks in. Claire asks how it went with Abe. Theo says that Abe says he didn't do anything but he doesn't know what to believe anymore. Theo talks about Abe always going on about the DiMeras but what if he's no better. Claire and Theo exit for the Pub.

Hope tells Commissioner Raines that she has an important family gathering to attend. Raines knows speaking to Jennifer and the press had to be tough on her. Hope knows the media's obligation. Eli arrives and apologizes for missing the press conference. Eli asks if Abe changed his story after a night in jail. Raines responds that he still says he had nothing to do with Dario so he hopes Eli and the FBI can make these charges stick. Eli says they are doing everything they can. Raines hopes so since it was a very unpopular arrest. Eli knows it's hard for people to accept that an admired public figure could abuse his position for his own gain.

Claire and Theo go to the Pub and talk to Joey. Joey mentions that he will e-mail and that Steve will cover his rent until someone else can move in to the loft. They assure they will come visit. Roman talks to Julie about how Joey couldn't take it anymore. Julie calls it a bad day for Salem between Joey and Abe. Julie tells Hope that she went off on Eli for making her arrest Abe. Hope says it's not Eli's fault. Julie questions if she thinks Abe is guilty. Hope says he's human and they all make mistakes but she hopes he will be cleared. Bonnie arrives so Kayla, Steve, and Joey greet her. Bonnie says she wouldn't miss Joey's sendoff but Kayla says that's not what this is. Jennifer takes Bonnie aside and questions her breaking up with Lucas without warning. Bonnie says she figured out she didn't love him anymore. Jennifer argues how devoted Lucas was to her and what she did was heartless. Bonnie remarks that she's not the one who was hooked on pain meds. Jennifer questions what's wrong with her when she's been in recovery. Bonnie apologizes and insists she didn't want to hurt Lucas but the heart wants what it wants. Justin then arrives and joins her so Jennifer walks away. Bonnie and Justin kiss while Steve, Kayla, and Hope watch on surprised.

Eli goes to see Abe in his jail cell. Abe mentions Theo being here and he didn't think enough of how this would affect Theo. Abe calls it a terrible mistake. Eli reveals that Abe won't have to play this role much longer, just until they make Dario's real silent partner think that he's in the clear. Eli apologizes for rushing Abe in to helping him out. Eli says it never occurred to him that Dario's silent partner could be someone so close or that he would threaten Lani. Abe reveals that Dario's silent partner is actually Commissioner Raines and how he's using the police department as a front for his counterfeiting ring.

Justin brings Bonnie back to her hotel room. They are glad it's over with. Justin is glad to be alone with her and kisses her. Justin starts to undress her but she stops him and questions what he's doing. Bonnie says they can't which Justin questions.

Joey goes to the loft and asks what Tripp is doing here. Tripp says he wanted to say goodbye but didn't feel welcome at the Pub. Tripp tells Joey he will miss him. Joey tells him he's sorry but Tripp feels they are even as he couldn't be sorry enough for what he did to Kayla. Joey is glad everything is out in the open. Joey says while he's gone, Tripp can get to know Steve better and take care of him. Joey and Tripp hug.

Steve brings Kayla to the hospital and they talk about Joey's birth. Steve encourages that Joey is a fighter and it will help him through what's next. Kayla says she's not ready to do this but knows she can if they do it together. They exit to go get Joey. They arrive at the loft to pick Joey up. Kayla hugs him and they exit together.
