Devon: This newman-locke merger is gonna be huge. Having two powerhouses join forces like that? It's gonna change everything.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Devon: You're not listening to me, are you?

Amanda: No, no, I'm listening.

Devon: No, you're not. I know you don't care. It's okay.

Amanda: [ Sighs ] Yeah, that's probably a little more accurate. But, listen, I can pretend to care if it makes you happy.

Devon: No, don't do that. Don't do that at all. How's your search going?

Amanda: Ugh, it's not. I am convinced that sutton has hired someone to scrub his online profile. There is nothing other than superficial information out there.

Devon: What about your private investigator?

Amanda: She's reporting the same thing. You know, I wish I had done a deeper dive into sutton when i was representing him. I was so focused on researching richard and his actions that i just -- I had no time, and now --

Devon: Now you think he's gotten rid of any incriminating information?

Amanda: Exactly. I need to create reasonable doubt in naya's case. The most effective way to do that is to prove that my grandfather is not as upstanding as he appears to be. So I'm looking for something, something that shows that he's capable of killing richard, you know, some dirty deals or a connection to that shady person that he hired to tamper with his brakes. I can't find anything.

[ Sighs ] But I'm gonna keep digging. I'm gonna keep digging until i find exactly what I need.

[ Keys clacking ]

Billy: Tara. Hello.

Tara: Billy. How are you?

Billy: Oh, I'm just fine. How are you is the question. You've, uh -- you've been in the news lately.

Tara: That video.

Billy: Yeah.

Tara: It's so sad that passes for news these days.

Billy: I hear you. But, you know, given everything that happened today with the merger being announced and ashland confirming his illness, seemed like it's all perfectly timed with that video.

Tara: I assume so, though ashland doesn't exactly share his decisions with me these days.

Billy: Yeah, we were sent the video, as well, anonymously of course. We decided against posting it.

Tara: Thank you, billy. It's good to know that someone out there has ethics.

Billy: Oh, yes, that's me, mr. Ethics.

Tara: Yeah. Except for you did publish our story about the divorce.

Billy: Well, given locke's status in the business world, you know, that is news. But we are not going to exploit his illness. That crosses line for us. And especially not knowing, you know, who took the video or why they would want anyone to see it, it seems particularly unsavory to me, given that a child was involved.

Tara: Thank you for that. So good to know that harrison is now part of such a caring family that always puts his welfare first. Speaking of which, I should get back to him.

Billy: Please, uh, tell him I say hello.

Tessa: All the texts that mariah has been sending are reassuring but vague. I've got a bad feeling. I wish we could contact the police, but I know that it's too soon.

Sharon: Mariah really hasn't been gone that long, and she's been in communication with both of us, so the odds are she's fine.

Tessa: So, you're not worried at all?

Sharon: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone pings ]

Tessa: I hope you're right and that I'm just [Sighs] Making too much of this. But why hasn't she called? Look, if it was just me, then i would chalk it up to mood, but text only with everyone she knows? It's weird.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hello?

Abby: I heard from jack about mariah.

Tessa: I'm with sharon. I'm gonna put you on speaker.

Abby: So, here's the news. Uncle jack spoke to the marketing department, and they weren't aware of her trip, but I guess he texted mariah and she responded that she set up some exploratory meetings and she didn't say anything because she was waiting to see how they panned out. And now she's taking a couple days off.

Tessa: Okay, well, where is she?

Abby: She didn't say, but she assured jack that she was fine.

Sharon: Well, that's a relief.

Abby: The question is, why didn't she say any of that to us?

Sharon: Maybe she didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by saying that she needed some time to herself?

Tessa: Maybe.

Billy: Just the woman I want to see.

Phyllis: Oh, that's interesting because you're not even, like, the top 100 people of who I want to see.

Billy: Ha. You know, I questioned it all the time -- why did I ever move out of this hotel? The customer service is so great.

Phyllis: Aww! You know, I'm sorry. I'm not my typical charming self today.

Billy: Rough night?

Phyllis: Uh, yeah, you could say that. I've been up for 24 hours. I just got back from italy, you know? And, um, this coffee is the only thing keeping me from being really rude.

Billy: Really? Is that the only thing? Italy? How's summer? I'm sure you went to see her.

Phyllis: Mm. Yeah. And nick. I went to see nick, too, to have a romantic rendezvous, you know, before he heads off to london to spend time with noah. I have to go back to work.

Billy: I got a, uh, favor to ask you. Actually, it's more like a consultation.

Phyllis: [ Groans ] Yeah?

Billy: I need some information.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Regarding what?

Billy: How well do you know tara locke?

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

Devon: Look, I know that when you set your mind to something, nothing can stop you.

Amanda: [ Sighs ] It's just the most important case of my life. I need to make sure that the truth about my father's murder comes to light.

Devon: I know. And it will. What's your next steps gonna be?

Amanda: [ Sighs ] I don't know...yet.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Devon: It's abby, asking if i can come by.

Amanda: Oh. When?

Devon: She's saying as soon as I can get there. I don't know what that means. I should probably check on her, though.

Amanda: Okay, you know what? I'll walk out with you. Yeah. Um, I need some fresh air, clear my head. Let me just grab my purse.

Devon: Yeah, sure.

Amanda: I really hope that abby's okay.

Devon: Yeah. So do I.

Tessa: I just wish I could understand what was going on in her head. This just doesn't seem like mariah.

Sharon: You know, I think mariah might be feeling a little overwhelmed by the surrogacy, and I'm not just talking about the hormones and the changes in her body, but...I get the sense that she may feel every move she makes is being watched and judged.

Tessa: Ugh. I just wish I knew if something was going on with her. I -- I don't know. I thought she was handling everything.

Sharon: Well, don't blame yourself. You know, mariah doesn't always wear her heart on her sleeve.

Tessa: Yeah, but if she would have confided in anyone, it would have been me.

[ Sighs ] We could have talked it out. And if she wanted to leave G.C. For a while, I would have happily gone with her.

Sharon: Well, mariah probably thought it was best that she just handled this on her own, and maybe she thought that asking you for help would be an imposition on you.

Tessa: Ugh. Okay. I'm -- I'm gonna send her another text, just to tell her that I love her and I miss her and she has my infinite support.

[ Voice breaking ] And that i want her to come home to me.

Phyllis: Why are you asking about tara locke? Does this have to do with the article? You want more dirt?

Billy: Mnh. Well, you know me. I love a flashy headline. But, no, this right now is more personal.

Phyllis: It's personal? I thought you were head over heels with lily. Why are you interested in tara? Ah, it's because victoria and ashland have hooked up and you want more information on his ex. Okay.

Billy: [ Sighs ] I want to know what makes her tick. And given your front-row seat to the tara, kyle, summer situation, I assumed you would have an interesting perspective.

Phyllis: Do you have a secret baby with her, too?

Billy: No, I don't, but i love where your head's at, and that's exactly what I'm looking for -- your complete and utter lack of trust of any other person.

Devon: Do you want to say hi to billy?

Amanda: No, no, I don't want to interrupt. That looks intense. But seeing him does give me an idea. I think I know how to solve this sutton problem.

[ Sighs ] Plaque psoriasis, the tightness, stinging...

Faith: Mom.

Sharon: Hi, sweetie. How was therapy?

Faith: Good. Feeling better.

Sharon: I'm glad to hear it. Can I get you something to drink?

Faith: You don't have to. I'll get my own lemonade. Two, actually.

Sharon: Oh. Are we expecting someone?

Faith: Moses.

Sharon: Mm. I thought the last time you two hung out, things were a little bit awkward.

Faith: It was beyond awkward. I'm surprised he agreed to meet me.

Sharon: Well, of course he would. You two have a great friendship. You know, one awkward moment isn't gonna ruin that. But, you know, if you think you like him more than just a friend --

Faith: Please stop.

Sharon: Well, just my advice would be...

Faith: I don't remember asking for it.

Sharon: ...Just be honest with him. Let him know how you feel, and it will all work out. Hi! Hi, moses.

Moses: Hey, sharon.

Sharon: How are you?

Moses: Good, good. How are you?

Sharon: Good.

Faith: Uh, thirsty? I kind of owe you one after yesterday.

Moses: Yeah, sure.

Faith: Let's talk on the patio.

Moses: Okay.

Stitch: [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: Uh, ben?! Oh, my gosh. It's so good to see you!

Stitch: You too, sharon.

Sharon: Wh-- what are you doing in town?

Stitch: Oh, I came for an event at the hospital, but I've stuck around a little longer than I expected.

[ Chuckles ]

Sharon: Well, I'm glad you did. That way, I got to see you. You know, whatever you want, it's on the house.

Stitch: Well, thanks. Alright. [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: The only thing I'll ask in exchange is, you have to tell me everything that you've been up to.

Abby: And now we're just sitting around, waiting for her to call us or text us and tell us where she is.

Devon: Okay, well, listen. I understand why you'd be thrown, but she's only been gone for a couple days, right? And she's been in contact with you.

Abby: Yeah, but it's just so out of the blue. Yeah, maybe she wanted some time alone before the baby comes, but that doesn't explain her barely communicating.

Devon: Well, I'm sure she has her reasons, though.

Abby: Okay. What are they? She's shutting all of us out, and it seems like something seriously upset her. Like, I don't know what to do. I just... I wish chance were here. He would know what to do.

Billy: Jack got us all together -- ashley, traci, everyone -- to meet harrison and welcome tara into the fold.

Phyllis: You weren't feeling it?

Billy: No. And it wasn't anything she said or did. She was extremely nice.

Phyllis: I know. See, that's the thing, though. She's extremely nice. That in and of itself is weird. She's working so hard to be effortlessly gracious.

Billy: Yeah, comes across that way, and my gut is telling me that there's something else going on there.

Phyllis: Okay, your gut's usually wrong. We both know that. But I think in this case, you're onto something.

Billy: The funny thing is, no one else felt the same way, not even ashley, who's basically a human lie detector. I mean, you know, everybody's doing what they can to make sure that she feels welcome. She's worked her way into the abbott circle in record time.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Billy: And jack and kyle are falling all over themselves trying to take care of her.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Poor girl. Poor girl. She threw a billionaire aside and now she's come to the abbott house and she's welcomed with open arms. It must be so hard.

Billy: Right? I will say, though, she does seem like a good mother. Harrison is a very sweet, adorable kid. And I don't blame her for wanting to give him some stability in the middle of a divorce, especially with ashland confirming his illness.

Phyllis: So, you're thinking the same thing I'm thinking, right? Is she doing all of this for her kid? Or is she doing it for herself?

Billy: I want to know what she wants and how far she's willing to go to get it.

Phyllis: Okay, this isn't some big exposé you're planning, right?

Billy: No. This is about my family and protecting them. I don't want her to take advantage of them. And I would also like to know what sally spectra has to do with all this.

Phyllis: Sally spectra? Why would you mention sally spectra?

[ Knock on door ]

Lily: Hi.

Amanda: Hey. Do you ever take a break? I mean, seriously. You are always working.

Lily: [ Laughs ] What are you talking about? You put in more hours than anyone I know.

Amanda: Well, I am taking a break now. Do you have a second?

Lily: Oh, fine. For you, I may have a few minutes.

Amanda: Ah, I'm honored.

Lily: [ Laughs ] So, what's going on?

Amanda: Um... I lied. I'm not taking a break. I need a favor, a big one.

Amanda: I need you to do a deep dive into my grandfather's past.

Lily: Oh. But you're not representing sutton ames anymore. So, what's this about?

Amanda: I am now representing my mother. She confessed to richard nealon's murder.

Lily: That's right. I read an article about that.

Amanda: It's a false confession. She's taking the fall. Richard was my father, and sutton went to extremes to keep him from finding out about hilary and me. So I am convinced that he would have done absolutely anything to keep that secret from coming out.

Lily: Okay. So, now you're defending your mother by implicating your grandfather in your father's murder?

Amanda: That's exactly right.

Lily: Oh, my god. I am so sorry. You must have been devastated when you found out. Like, how are you handling this?

Amanda: I am trying to channel my emotions into my work, and that's why I need to find something substantial that proves that sutton is the guilty party in all of this.

Lily: Yeah, but he's a pretty powerful guy. I'm sure he's covered his tracks.

Amanda: Yeah. I'm pretty sure that that's the reason why I keep hitting dead ends. But when I saw billy at the hotel earlier, I thought to myself, "I know a couple people with an outstanding, discreet investigation team."

Lily: [ Laughs ] Well, then why didn't you ask billy when you saw him?

Amanda: Oh, well, he was with phyllis, and that seemed intense. He had that look in his eyes, you know, when he's fired up about something.

[ Both chuckle ]

Lily: Yeah, I don't know what it was about, but I'm sure it was maybe a lead on a story.

Amanda: It was clear that billy definitely got phyllis' attention.

Billy: I saw tara and sally in the park just before I got here. It was my impression that they seemed more than casual acquaintances. They were talking. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it did seem a little intense.

Phyllis: You saw sally and tara together? You know that sally is still trying to worm her way into jack's life. You know that, right? Do you think that sally is giving tara pointers or -- why are you smiling at me?

Billy: I just appreciate your protective instincts. It makes me really know that you are the right person for the job.

Phyllis: Yeah, but you feel the same way. I mean, we both want to know what tara has up her sleeve.

Billy: And how it impacts summer's sudden departure.

Phyllis: What do you mean by that?

Billy: I ran into her just before she left at society. She was trying really hard to cover the fact that she had mixed feelings about leaving and breaking up with kyle. She actually -- she asked me to be a friend to him.

Phyllis: She asked you?

Billy: Yeah. Which raised some questions about why she was leaving so quickly.

Phyllis: Oh, my god. I bet sally and tara are behind this.

Billy: [ Sighs ] So, we're on the same page?

Phyllis: Yeah, we are.

Billy: Good. How do you want to handle it?

Phyllis: I know how to deal with this first stage. Just let me -- let do this, okay?

Billy: Absolutely.

Phyllis: Okay.

Billy: You know where to find me.

Phyllis: Yes, I do.

[ Exhales heavily ] Hey, baby. It's your mom. Um, listen, I just want you to know that I got home safe back in genoa city, not as glamorous as milan, but it is home.

[ Voice breaking ] It is home. Listen, baby, I want you to know something. I have your back. I will always have your back.

Devon: Hey, listen. I know how difficult it is not having chance around, especially having to go through something like this. But I also know that if he were here, he would tell you that you need to be positive. There's no point in driving yourself crazy about anything because, honestly, we don't even know if there's even a problem. I bet you that mariah just needs to take a break.

Abby: Yeah. You're right. It just -- I don't know. Something feels off.

Devon: Okay, well, if chance were here right now, what would he be doing to make you feel better?

Abby: Well, he would be strong, and he would just hold me. And then he would tell me a stupid joke and make me laugh.

Devon: [ Chuckles ] You're already feeling better thinking about him, right? Stay on that path.

Abby: Good advice.

Devon: And don't forget that when he's done with his case, he's gonna come back to you. And it's gonna be after mariah returns safely and hopefully before the baby gets here.

Abby: No doubt. But right now I need you to keep telling me that.

[ Chuckles ]

Sharon: Oh, wow. I'm so sorry to hear that max's condition has deteriorated.

Stitch: I appreciate it. He's in a top-notch facility. They're taking great care of him.

Sharon: Well, that must give you some comfort.

Stitch: It does. And to be honest, I -- look, let's not -- let's not talk about it anymore. You know, I feel like conversations about him always turn into a pity party, and that's not what I want 'cause it's so good to see you.

Sharon: Well, I totally understand that, and I will not host your pity party. Tell me -- how's work going?

Stitch: It's good. I like the hospital. Uh, the only problem -- there's no real room for promotion. That's actually the reason I'm still in town. Um, so, don't tell anybody about this, okay?

Sharon: Okay. I won'T. Promise.

Stitch: As I was about to leave, I got a call from the board at memorial. Um...they're considering me for my old boss's job now that he's retired.

Sharon: Well, that's exciting.

Stitch: Yeah. Yeah. They just asked me to come in for an interview.

Sharon: Wow. That sounds like a great opportunity. Um, you know, sounds like you might be calling genoa city your home again.

Stitch: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] My name is monique, I'm 41,

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Lily: Listen, I would love to help you get information on your grandfather, but we don't really do that here.

Amanda: I know. I was just hoping that you had some veteran reporters who had connections and sources that go way back, someone who could shed some light on sutton's backroom politics.

Lily: Yeah. We don't really have anyone like that on our staff.

Amanda: Okay. Well, it was worth a shot.

Lily: I mean, is there anyone in sutton's circle that could help you?

Amanda: [ Sighs ] Well, there might be someone.

Lily: Who?

Amanda: Victor newman.

Faith: Would you like some more lemonade?

Moses: Uh, no, thanks.

Faith: What did you do earlier today?

Moses: Not much. What are we doing?

Faith: What do you mean?

Moses: Why did you invite me here?

Faith: I just wanted to hang out. Our usual thing.

Moses: Oh. I mean, I didn't realize we were still doing that.

Faith: You don't want to?

Moses: It's just -- I mean, we were having so much fun at the ranch, and it got weird.

Faith: [ Sighs ] That was all me. I'm sorry. I just got self-conscious because...I thought you were gonna say some things about us, where our friendship is headed.

Moses: Mm. Things you don't want to hear.

Faith: No, no, I do. I thought about saying those things, too. But it was happening so fast, and after everything that I've been through the past few months, I need to go slow. Does that make sense?

Moses: Yeah. Yeah. 100%.

Faith: So, for now, can we just keep hanging out? Like, a lot?

Moses: Yeah, I'd like that.

Stitch: It would be nice to move back to genoa city. Some of my last truly happy moments took place here.

Sharon: Well, you, um -- you had a lot of good friends here, especially dylan. But a lot of people loved you. You know, you did a lot of good.

Stitch: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: What is it?

[ Gasps ] Oh. Max. Right. You don't want to move him from that facility.

Stitch: No, it's not that. He could stay at the facility in iowa city. It's, um -- it's close enough. I'd visit him all the time.

Sharon: Then...is it abby?

[ Door closes ]

Tessa: I went on a long walk after my talk with sharon, and it did not make me feel better.

Devon: Well, what'd she say about mariah?

Tessa: [ Sighs ] She thinks mariah may have bolted because she feels as if she's under the microscope and the pressure got to her.

Abby: Oh, and by "pressure," you mean me? You think I drove her away?

Tessa: Look, I wasn't saying that.

Abby: Well, that's what you meant.

Tessa: No, it wasn't just you, abby, okay? I was on her 24/7 about her nutrition, her exercise, and her vitamins and all --

Abby: You know what? Now that you mention it, you were being way more intense than I was.

Tessa: What are you trying to say?

Devon: She's not trying to say anything. Come on. Come on. We don't need to blame each other. We need to work together to get through this. Right?

Tara: What brings you by, phyllis?

Phyllis: Oh, I just got back from milan. I have a gift for jack. It's from summer.

Tara: Oh, he is at the office. You could take it to him -- or leave it here, and I can let him know.

Phyllis: Oh. I'm so sorry. I'm so silly. I should have called first. I didn't mean to intrude.

Tara: Why would you think that?

Phyllis: Well, it just seems like, you know... you don't want company.

Tara: Oh. I don't mean to be rude. I just have a lot on my mind.

Phyllis: Oh, I'm sure you do, with everything going on.

Tara: Mm. Would you like to stay for a bit and chat?

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] I'd love that. I think it's time we had a little chat. Doing it yourself

Lily: Well, I know when you were representing sutton, you thought newman enterprises might be involved. So, how do you think victor could help you now?

Amanda: Well, I've spoken with him several times, and initially he didn't appreciate my implication that some other employee at newman committed the murder to cover up legal payoffs to sutton.

Lily: Yeah, I can see why he wouldn't like that.

Amanda: But when I realized i was wrong, I told him. He understood. And then he also tried to help me get closure with my father.

Lily: Alright. Well, he sounds like the ideal person to talk to, you know? I mean, he's used to dealing with men like sutton. And also, if anyone knows how to uncover dirt and push buttons, it is definitely victor newman.

Billy: Amanda. How are you?

Amanda: Hey. Hey. I am good, but I'm also very busy. Um, I'm gonna head out.

Lily: Okay.

Amanda: I really, really appreciate it, okay?

Lily: Yeah, of course. And remember -- if you don't ask, you'll never know, alright?

Amanda: Thank you.

Lily: Good luck.

Amanda: Lily will fill you in.

Billy: Okay. What's going on there? What do you got to fill me in on?

Lily: Well, first, why don't you tell me what you're up to with phyllis?

Tara: How is summer?

Phyllis: Ah! She is doing great. She loves her new job in milan, loves it.

Tara: Well, I bet you're broken up about her leaving. I can't help but feel like my arrival here has somehow played a part in that, and I hate to think that I caused any damage to her relationship with kyle.

Phyllis: Oh, no, no, no! Of course not. Not at all. No. Don't even think that. I mean, as a mom, it's tough 'cause we were planning a wedding, and now we're not, so that's a big change. But I am just so proud that my daughter realized about herself that she is not ready to be a stepmom.

Tara: And then that job opened up in italy.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. Wasn't that crazy? I mean, the timing.

Tara: I bet she will love it there.

Phyllis: I'm sure she will. Yeah. I want you to know I don't blame you at all. Okay? Not one bit. I understand your position. I really understand it. And I know you're just a woman who's trying to rebuild her life and, as a parent, you're trying to do the best for your son. And the best thing is making sure that that little boy feels safe and secure.

Tara: Ah, kyle and jack and all the abbotts have been so good to us.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Tara: I mean, I'm grateful. I'm on my own. I have a brother, but we're not close, and it has just been ashland and harrison and me for so long. And now ashland's sick, and i worry about how harrison's gonna react.

Phyllis: No, I understand that. It must be very, very traumatic for that little boy seeing the only father he's ever known decline. You know -- oh, my gosh, I have an idea. It's just -- it's just me thinking out loud, but why don't you have kyle take that position as, you know, the new man in your son's life?

Tara: Yeah. I feel the same way. I mean, I don't know how difficult ash's journey's gonna be, but no matter what, harrison needs support and continuity.

Phyllis: Kyle can give that to him.

Tara: Yes. I mean, he has already assured me that he will be there every step of the way for harrison, for years to come. I mean, he could not be more devoted. It's the way it should be. We're a family now.

Stitch: [ Chuckles ] I promise you it's not what you think. I'm not hung up on abby. I've moved on. Believe me.

Sharon: I do.

Stitch: And she's moved on, too. She deserves pure happiness. I just don't want my presence to remind her of the pain that we went through after we lost the baby.

Sharon: But you can't always make a decision based on how it will affect an ex, right? And nobody's life is pure happiness.

Stitch: Maybe not, but she seems like she's come close to it with chance and the little boy that mariah's carrying for them. I don't want to disrupt that.

Sharon: I don't think you will.

Stitch: You know, it's quite the gift that mariah's giving them, thoughtful, generous. You must be really proud, right?

Sharon: Yeah. I am. Definitely.

Stitch: Did I say something wrong?

Sharon: No. It's just, um, mariah -- she left on this last-minute business trip, and it's very mysterious.

Stitch: Wait a minute. You haven't talked to her?

Sharon: She texted me. She's fine. She just didn't want to tell anybody where she is, so we're a little concerned.

Stitch: I'm sorry, sharon. I didn't know.

Sharon: How could you?

Stitch: Abby and tessa must be worried sick about mariah... and the baby.

Tessa: I'm a little more high-strung than usual. And I had a terrible thought on my walk. What if mariah...left because something terrible happened to the pregnancy?

Abby: And you think that if something like that happened, she wouldn't be able to face me because I hover too much and i cause --

Tessa: No, not everything is about you, abby! This is about mariah and what she could be going through!

Abby: Do you think I don't know that? Do you think that I am not so scared? I am so worried about mariah and the baby!

Devon: Okay, abby, come on. And you too. What are we doing here, guys? Why are we attacking each other? We're on the same team, right? Right? Mariah literally said she just needed to take some time away and get some space. Let's not try and assume and guess what that means. There's no point to do that. Just let her take the time. When she comes back, we'll get our answers. The last thing she would want is to know that she's causing this much stress between the two of you.

Tessa: That's true. Imagine if she could see us right now.

Abby: She'd flip. Um... I'm sorry.

Tessa: I'm sorry, too. We cannot be at each other's throats.

Abby: And like devon said, we're all on the same team.

Devon: That's right.

[ Cellphone ringing ] I got to jump on a conference call soon, but are we -- are we good? We're okay?

Abby: We're alright, yeah.

Tessa: Yeah, we're good.

Devon: Okay. Alright. I'll see you guys.

[ Door opens and closes ]

Abby: [ Sighs ] We don't use just any wipe,

[ Laughter ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Abby: Ben. Hi. I thought you went back to iowa.

Stitch: Yeah, I was going to, but something came up, and I'm glad it did. I just ran into sharon. She told me what's going on.

Abby: You mean with mariah.

Stitch: Yeah, that's right. Abby, I'm sorry. Look, I'm here if there's anything you need.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Well, I am glad we had this chance to chat.

Tara: Me too.

Phyllis: Yeah. Even though I really miss my daughter, I think things worked out the way they were supposed to...for her and for kyle.

Tara: I am so happy that you see it that way.

Phyllis: Yeah. I see things clearly now.

[ Exhales sharply ]

Billy: So, phyllis and I are on the same page in regards to tara and sally. She's gonna do her thing and keep me in the loop.

Lily: Alright. Is there a story in it?

Billy: Possibly, but right now this is personal. I don't want to see jack get hurt -- to a lesser degree, kyle -- but, you know, they're my family.

Lily: Oh, I thought when you said personal, you meant tara's connection to ashland and how that leads back to victoria and the merger.

Billy: That's more business than personal.

Lily: Okay. Well, I hope you don't think you have to keep these things from me.

Billy: I told you I just ran into phyllis and it was a last-second decision to talk to her.

Lily: Okay, I know. I know. I just like to, you know, watch you squirm.

Billy: [ Chuckles ] Oh. You do, don't you? You got a little diabolical streak in there, don't you?

Lily: Yeah. I save it just for you.

Billy: Ooh. You really know how to treat a guy right.

Lily: Sure do.

[ Both laugh ]

[ Cellphone pings ]

Billy: That is phyllis. She just talked to tara. She wants to meet up. Do you want to come with?

Lily: No, you go ahead. I trust you. I'll wait to hear about it when you get back.

Billy: Okay. Hopefully I'll have a lot of story to tell you.
