Episode #12138 ~ Kyle asks Phyllis for help. Lauren is blindsided. Abby is rattled by an unexpected return.

Amanda: You are not gonna believe this. My mother's a real piece of work.

Devon: What? Did she come up with a cover story about that call to your dad or she still lying to you?

Amanda: Well, after i confronted her with the evidence, she had no choice but to come clean. At first, it was like pulling teeth, but finally, she broke down and confessed. She admitted that she told my father everything on that call.

Devon: What does "everything" mean?

Amanda: He knew the whole story -- that she was pregnant when she left college and ceased all contact with him. He even knew about hilary. He knew that he fathered twins. He had all the information when he was on his way to my foster home.

Devon: Oh, god. I'm sure that was heartbreaking to hear, amanda.

Amanda: Oh, I am not just heartbroken. I am furious. Naya knew! Back when she was trying to dodge meeting me and every single thing since then. Even when she tried to get me to be my grandfather's attorney, she knew! All of her phony claims about wanting to be close to me because we're reunited, her crocodile tears about how badly she felt about giving us up. God, she knew! She knew that I had a father who loved me sight unseen, unconditionally, and she didn't say a damn word. So, you know, it's not -- it's bad enough that she let me spend my entire life without a mother's love, but she made me think that my father didn't want me either, and he did. He did.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Abby: Ooh, maybe it's chance.

[ Laughs ] It's not chance, but look.

Nina: Oh, god, that's adorable.

[ Both laugh ] Aww. Even though we both would love it if chance would just text and let us know he's okay.

Abby: You know, maybe it's a positive sign that it wasn't him.

Nina: How do you mean?

Abby: Well, christine said that he's deep undercover, and as much as I would kill to hear from my husband right now, maybe it's a good thing that he's not contacting me, you know? He needs to stay focused, stay safe, and finish the job.

Nina: Come home to us.

Abby: And I just keep reminding myself that I have a hero for a husband.

Nina: Yeah, and I have a hero for a son.

[ Both laugh ] Even though I worry about him so much, just knowing that he's out there saving people's live makes me very proud.

Abby: We miss him, but he is serving the greater good.

Nina: Oh, my goodness, look at the time. I got to go. I'll see you back at the house, okay?

Stitch: Hello, abby.

Abby: Ben?

Stitch: Hey.

Abby: [ Chuckles ]

Sally: Well, sounds like congratulations are in order.

Tara: I think you're being a bit premature. Nothing's confirmed yet, as far as I know.

Sally: Well, obviously, you haven't heard the latest. Apparently, summer called lauren to meet about something very important. I can only assume it's to say,

Nick: You heard?

Jack: Unfortunately, I have.

Nick: I think this time it really is the end of summer and kyle.

Jack: Don't be so sure. Kyle isn't ready to give up just yet. Wait, wait, you blame kyle for this, don't you?

Summer: I have made up my mind, kyle, okay? There is nothing that you can say that's gonna change that.

Kyle: Wait, are you packing already? You can't honestly be planning to move to italy overnight. This is crazy.

Summer: I have to make a clean, fast break. That's the only way I can do this.

Kyle: Please, summer, just -- can you just slow down for a minute? Give me a chance to prove to you that you're wrong.

Summer: I'm not wrong, kyle. I know that what I'm doing is best for everybody involved.

Kyle: No, I'm not giving up on us. I'm not giving up on you. And I'm not letting you give up on us either. I will follow you to italy if i have to and remind you every day that I love you and that we are supposed to be together.

Kyle: No, you can't just expect me to accept this and walk away. Not when we still love each other so much.

Summer: Okay, well, you know, you're wrong, kyle. No, you have to accept this because I don't love you like you love me. I never will. Hi sabrina!

[ Chuckles ] It has been so long.

Stitch: Years.

Abby: I cannot believe that you're here. What brings you to genoa city?

Stitch: My old boss at memorial is finally retiring, so I'm here for the celebration.

Stitch: I, uh -- I guess i should've reached out when I got to town, I just wasn't sure you'd want to hear from your ex.

Stitch: Then I'm glad I ran into you.

[ Chuckles ] I was hoping to congratulate you. I heard about your wedding. I'm so happy for you.

Devon: Hey, why don't you sit down and try to relax?

Amanda: No, no, I'm -- I'm sorry. I'm just -- I'm too wound up and angry. And not just at naya. My grandfather knew about that call, too. Sutton knew that richard had finally found out about the pregnancy and he would not stop until he found me and hilary. Not even if it meant that every single, dirty, little ames family secret came out.

Devon: So he knew everything, everything and said nothing to you at all?

Amanda: That's right. Instead, he used me to clear his name. The ames family name. All the while painting my father as some money hungry blackmailer. He played me and he manipulated me to keep the truth from coming out. See, that's why he wanted me to stick to my original defense strategy. He wanted me to focus on diverting the case towards victor and newman enterprises. He never believed that I would ever get to the truth.

Devon: Do you think your grandfather's guilty?

Amanda: Yeah. And if I'm right, then my father died because he loved me and he was looking for me, and my grandfather is behind the car accident that killed him.

Kyle: I can't believe you're saying this. To accuse me of having feelings for tara is one thing, but to claim that you don't love me, i will never believe it. Where is this even coming from? Why would you even say something like that? Summer, something is definitely not right here. This makes no sense because i know you love me. Not just because of how many times you've told me, but because I've felt it. I've seen it in your eyes.

Summer: Yes, kyle. I have looked at you with love before, but not anymore. No, there is too much heartache and too much pain.

Kyle: No, no, no, that's not possible. I know your heart, and it belongs to me, just like my heart belongs to you.

Summer: Okay, fine, you don't believe me? Then look me in my eyes now, kyle. Tell me, do you find any love there anymore? Kyle, this is not love. This is a resentment that is borne of a heart too broken to take care of another woman's child, especially when that woman is very much still in the picture.

Kyle: There is nothing going on between tara and me. How many times do I have to tell you? What can I do to convince you of that?

Summer: Just stop trying. Just leave me alone. Go to your house. Go to your dad's house and be with tara and be with your son.

Kyle: No, no, I'm not leaving until you understand I love you and only you.

Summer: Kyle, get out. Please, you have to go. You have to go. Please go. Kyle, get out!

[ Sobbing ]

Kyle: Are you aware that summer is calling off our wedding and leaving the country?

Phyllis: Yeah, she dropped that bomb on us earlier. I'm -- I'm sorry.

Phyllis: Don't be sorry. Do something. Help me fix this.

Tara: I'm not gonna stand here and gloat over summer's pending departure.

Sally: [ Scoffs ] Well, I don't see why not. It would be well earned.

Tara: You can look at it any way you want, since it is your plan and you're hoping to be promoted to summer's current job because of it.

Sally: Okay, may I remind you that I'm not the only one benefiting from our little scheme? You and I are in this together.

Tara: Oh, I'm very much aware of that. But my motive is simply to protect my son.

Sally: Oh, come on, tara. This is not all about harrison. It's also about his mommy wanting to trade one sexy, powerful man for a newer model named abbott. We both know that kyle is gonna need a shoulder to cry on while he tries to mend his poor, little broken heart.

Tara: Oh, climb down off your high horse. I've heard that you have your eyes set on an abbott as well.

Sally: My relationship with jack was nothing but genuine.

Tara: Yeah, right.

Sally: I'm telling you i wasn't after his money or his power, I just cared about him. But I guess that's difficult for you to relate to.

Tara: And on that note, I'm out of here.

Sally: Well, if you run into any trouble, you have my number.

Tara: Yes, I most certainly do.

Jack: I'm not saying kyle is blameless in this mess. He made his share of mistakes, but, given the circumstances, i think he did the best he could.

Nick: Look, I get it. It's a complicated situation, and I'm frustrated. Summer has been through so much, through no fault of her own. I already have one kid who lives on another continent, and the last thing I want is for my oldest daughter to do the same thing. Now, I'm sure it's a great job in a terrific location, but it doesn't mean I'm gonna miss her any less.

Jack: Look, I'm dealing with my own share of heartbreak on that front. I'm just trying to understand this thing. Look, they postponed the wedding one minute, then -- then fast track it the next, and then they break off the whole engagement in no time flat.

Nick: The reality is, this is not summer and kyle's first broken engagement. It's not even their first fast-track wedding.

Jack: I can't argue that. Some relationships are worth fighting for, others are too much of a fight to be worth it.

Nick: And sometimes the timing is wrong.

Jack: Sometimes a third party gets in the way.

Nick: They've tried so many times.

Jack: Maybe it's not in the cards for those two.

[ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Yes, I was shocked by summer's reaction. I don't know what's going on with her, but she is a grown woman and she has made up her mind. There is no use changing it.

Kyle: I don't understand how she can say she doesn't love me anymore.

Phyllis: I don't get it either. But honestly, she is a grown woman. You have to respect her decision.

Kyle: Even if it doesn't make sense?

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh, kyle, all of a sudden, you have a son and he's living here in genoa city. How did you expect my daughter to react?

Kyle: What are you saying? That to fix this I have to walk away from my son?

Phyllis: No, I doubt she would respect that.

Kyle: Okay, then what? There's nothing left for me to do?

Phyllis: It looks that way. Honestly, kyle, I am very sorry.

Abby: Well, thank you for the wedding well wishes. How are you?

Stitch: It's all good. Can't complain.

Abby: And what about max? How's he doing?

Stitch: Uh, I'm sorry to say that his recovery hasn't progressed like I hoped it would. He's been moved from facility to facility, but...I refuse to lose hope.

Abby: I'm so sorry. And, yes, never give up hope. I really want what's best for both of you.

Stitch: Thanks, abby. That means a lot.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Stitch: Mariah's having a baby?

Abby: Um, well, uh, actually, chance and I are expecting our first child together. Mariah is carrying the baby for us.

Stitch: You guys are using a surrogate? Why?

Abby: I found out that I, um -- well, I can't carry a child to term.

Stitch: Because of the miscarriage? What does it mean to be a hero?

Stitch: Abby, I'm so sorry.

Abby: Please, don't be. I don't have any grudges. There's no bitterness. You know, I, um -- I don't want to go relive all of those painful memories. Because I'm happy right now. And everyone has a journey. This just happens to be mine, and, yeah, I feel blessed. I can't ask for anything more.

Stitch: Your smile still lights up the room.

Abby: [ Chuckles ]

Stitch: I wish you and chance and that little one to be all the best.

Abby: Thank you. I really appreciate that.

Stitch: It's good seeing you again. Nice catching up.

Abby: Yeah, it was.

Stitch: [ Chuckles ]

Lauren: Uh, phyllis, hi. How you doing?

Phyllis: Don't ask.

Lauren: That bad?

Phyllis: I can't talk about it.

Lauren: Does your mood have anything to do with the urgent message that summer sent me to come see her in her suite?

Phyllis: Of course it does. Another slice of chaos provided by my daughter.

Lauren: Ugh, I don't like the sound of that. Can you tell me what's going on?

Phyllis: It's not my place. Summer has to talk to you, but please, can you talk some sense into my daughter -- please?

Summer: [ Sighs ]

[ Knock on door ]

Summer: Go away, kyle.

Lauren: It's lauren.

Summer: Oh, my god. Lauren, I'm so sorry, I thought you were kyle.

Lauren: Clearly.

Summer: Well, I'm sorry for that moment of unprofessionalism.

Lauren: It's no problem. What did you want to talk to me about?

Summer: Um...[ Exhales ] I'm really sorry for the late notice, but, um, I'm going to have to leave jcv.

Lauren: Leave? As in resign?

Summer: Yes, I'm so sorry.

Lauren: Oh, no, honey. I am not gonna be taking your resignation so easily.

Devon: I know that this has got to be one of the most painful things you have gone through in your life. But I hope that you're still happy that you at least know the truth.

Amanda: I don't even know if I have the whole story. Naya swears that sutton is innocent, but how can I believe a word that comes out of her mouth at this point?

Devon: You can'T. I find it ironic that you've gotten more honesty from victor newman than you have your real family. It's like he's become your greatest ally in all this.

Amanda: No, devon. My greatest ally in all of this has been you. You have been there from the beginning. You've stood by me. You've let me vent. You've given me great advice. Water.

[ Both chuckle ] You kept me strong and grounded and focused on what really matters -- my story. Mine and hilary'S.

Devon: I'm certainly not gonna take any credit 'cause all I've done is stand by and watch you stay strong while you took on the people that should've been there for you and hilary all along. You forced them to admit to what they'd done. And you know what else you did? You proved how great you turned out in spite of them not being there for you, and that shows a lot of character and a lot of strength.

Amanda: Then why do I feel like such a fool?

Devon: I don't know why you do 'cause you certainly aren't one.

Amanda: You know, even though I stood my ground and I got to the truth, all I ever really wanted was their love and acceptance.

Devon: And what's wrong with that?

Amanda: I just -- just --

Devon: What's wrong with that? Of course you did. That's your family. That's normal. They just didn't turn out the way you hoped. And they underestimated you. So you got a lot of questions to answer right now for yourself. One being how you're gonna move forward.

Amanda: I'm not gonna stop until justice is done...so I'm gonna need a lot more evidence than some phone records. I'm gonna need a slam dunk, something irrefutable.

Devon: Well, I assume an attorney can't just turn on their former client and try to prove them guilty, right?

Amanda: Sutton would bring up ethics charges. He would accuse me of violating attorney-client privilege. There would be a lot of potential pit falls.

Devon: Okay, so where does that leave you? What are you gonna do?

Amanda: I'm gonna need to find justice another way. Is now a good time for a flare-up?

Mariah: Hi, you're home. We've been waiting for you.

Abby: Uh, what's wrong? Is the baby okay?

Mariah: Well, I was having, um, this feeling -- it was sort of like a fluttering, and it kept happening.

Abby: Well, did you call the doctor?

Mariah: It's fine. It wasn't a bad feeling. I just thought maybe it was a bit of nausea or something, so i looked it up, and it turns out your little guy might be mastering the art of a yawn. Isn't that crazy? I didn't even know that babies could yawn in the womb. But I guess I'm gonna have to be not boring from now on.

Nina: Hey, abby. Baby talk usually excites you. Is there something wrong?

Abby: The craziest thing just happened. I ran into ben at crimson lights.

Mariah: Ben, as in stitch? As in your ex-husband?

Abby: That about covers it.

Nina: So, what's up with this ben stitch person?

Mariah: Well, he is a smart, kind, hunky doctor, but i thought he had left town for good.

Nick: So, the jet will be gassed up and ready to go first thing in the morning? Yep. Transatlantic. Cool, see you then.

Phyllis: Wait a second, are you going to some exotic location and deserting me, too?

Nick: I've decided to go to italy with summer and just, you know, help her get settled.

Phyllis: Oh, this is an about-face. I mean, are you doing it so you can be on the plane with her and try to convince her to come back?

Nick: That's tempting.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Nick: As much as I hate this whole thing, as sure as I am that it is, uh, you know, an impulsive move for her, I also know our daughter, and when she makes up her mind, she's very much like her mother about sticking to it.

Lauren: I thought you were happy at jcv. Why on earth would you leave, and so suddenly?

Summer: I got an offer to be the new creative director of marchetti.

Lauren: Is this the same position that you and sally have been talking about?

Summer: Yeah, yes.

Lauren: I'm impressed. I'm assuming the position is in italy?

Summer: Yeah, it's in, um -- it's in milan. But I want you to know that i did not go job hunting, I didn't try to go behind your back and look for this job. Angelina marchetti just called me out of the blue and just made me an offer.

Lauren: That's very unusual.

Summer: Yeah, it was a big surprise. And again, lauren, I am so sorry to be leaving jcv in the lurch like this, but angelina wants me to start right away, and it's just an opportunity that i couldn't pass up.

Lauren: Well, you could have passed it up.

Summer: Look, I understand that this is a really big move, but I couldn't turn down working for a designer of her stature.

Lauren: And what about kyle?

Summer: Um, just, uh, didn't work out.

Lauren: I'm sorry about that. Of course, I have to ask -- is that what all this is about? Are you running away from your problems?

Summer: You know, I'm not gonna deny that I'm running, um, but it was my decision, and at least I get to run somewhere really, really great.

Devon: So exactly what other ways are there to seek justice on sutton? I hope you're not thinking of doing anything foolish or dangerous.

Amanda: No, no, of course not. I just know a better way to hit my grandfather where it hurts him the most.

Devon: What does that mean?

[ Knock on door ]

[ Door opens ] Imani? Hi.

Imani: What the hell have you done?

[Music: "I swear"]

Nick: You know what? Why don't you come with me? Seriously, we'll make a romantic, fun trip out of it. We'll escort summer to italy, and then we'll drop her off, and then we'll -- I don't know -- go explore the canals of venice or eat some delicious pasta in florence or, you know, throw some coins in that big, old fountain in rome.

Phyllis: Oh, as much as I'd love that, you know, I can'T.

Nick: Can't or won't?

Phyllis: Well, I shouldn'T. I'm pretty sure our daughter would view it as her parents smothering her.

Nick: Yeah, I hear you. Well, then I'll handle it solo. I just -- I need to get over there, make sure she's safe and that she's really okay, you know?

Phyllis: I love that you're doing this. It's incredible. You're a good dad. I love that you're putting everything that you feel aside and just doing the best for your daughter.

Nick: It's not easy. We just have to hope that she doesn't end up regretting this decision. What's that look about?

Phyllis: I mean, I just keep thinking -- did we do this to her?

Nick: What are you talking about?

Phyllis: Well, what she grew up -- you know, all of your drama. Going from sharon to me, me to sharon, sharon to me, me, me, me. You know, come on. If we're gonna be honest, faith and summer are in the same position as harrison is in.

Nick: Alright, I see where you're going with this. You're worried summer may follow our footsteps. She might be afraid that tara and kyle's co-parenting could lead them back together.

Phyllis: Yeah. I mean, it's what she saw. Anyway, she's probably afraid that history will repeat itself.

Nick: You know what? Maybe we didn't set a very shining example for her. But look at us now. We're happy. We're in love. And we just have to hope that someday summer finds that, too.

Summer: Yes, I got your contract, and I am, um, very excited and happy.

[ Chuckles ] Yes, um... well, angelina, again, thank you so much for this incredible opportunity. Yeah, I look forward to meeting you in person, as well. Okay, bye.

[ Sighs ]

Jack: Can I get a coffee, black, to go? Well, we meet again -- twice in one day.

Sally: Imagine that. I will probably see you at the office tomorrow, too.

Jack: I can't help but notice your upbeat mood is unshakeable.

Sally: Well, it's all part of the package. Just trying to stay positive. Good night, jack.

Amanda: How dare you barge in here like this. I think you need to check yourself, little sis.

Imani: I'm here because you don't know when to leave well enough alone.

Devon: Hey, why don't you take it easy, huh?

Amanda: Listen, don't worry, okay? I got this.

Imani: Tell me, amanda, what did you say to my mother?

Amanda: Don't you mean our mother? And I think the better question is, "what did naya say to me?" Because the truth has finally come out.

Imani: And exactly what truth is that?

Amanda: The truth about what happened to my father before he was killed. Did our mother tell you that she spoke to him? Did she tell you that she confessed to having twins and that she admitted that she abandoned us right after we were born? And then she told sutton that richard knew the truth.

Imani: And that's it? That's all she confessed?

Amanda: That's more than enough, don't you think?

Imani: Well, I hope you're proud of yourself for strong-arming our mother and breaking the poor woman with your relentless questioning.

Amanda: Breaking her? What the hell are you talking about?

Imani: Mom's confession didn't end there. She just turned herself in to the genoa city police department for murder. - Oh. - What's going on?

Abby: Ben's return to town had nothing to do with me. He's in town for a colleague's retirement party.

Mariah: Well, I didn't mean to jump to conclusions. So how did things go with him?

Abby: It was good...at first, and then, well, things kind of got uncomfortable when he saw the picture that you sent me. I explained to him how you are our surrogate, and then...well, it just -- it brought back some painful memories.

Mariah: Yeah, I can imagine.

Abby: I feel so bad for stitch for what he's going through. I mean, from what he said, his son max still hasn't fully recovered.

Nina: He has a son, who's sick?

Abby: From a previous relationship, yeah. And we found out when he was 9 years old that he had a brain tumor.

Nina: Oh. Oh, that's so sad.

Abby: It was just -- it was so painful watching him struggle with the effects that it had on his motor skills and he was dealing with seizures. And the worst part was the changes that it made to his personality.

Mariah: That has to be so hard for stitch.

Abby: I j-- I feel terrible for him. Especially when my life is filled with so much joy. Isn't it crazy how things turn out?

Abby: No, come on! You're starting to worry me. Is it something serious?

Stitch: [ Chuckles ] You're pregnant.

Abby: Shut up.

Stitch: No, it -- it's here. It's so here. They even noted that they ran it twice. No wonder the lab tech was smiling at me.

Abby: So, you and I -- we, uh...

Stitch: We're having a baby, baby!

Abby: We're having a baby. We're having a baby!

Stitch: We're having a baby!

Abby: [ Laughs ]

[ Both laugh ]

Abby: I wanted her to be a girl. And not so I could dress her up and put bows in her hair. I mean, I would do that, obviously. But I wanted to see the way that she would look at you... the way that only a daughter can look at her father.

Stitch: Daddy's little girl, you know?

Abby: [ Crying ]

Abby: I wanted us to be forever. You have to believe me, in those wedding vows, I meant them.

Stitch: Not really.

Abby: I did.

Stitch: You never loved me, abby.

Abby: Do you think I would have said those words if i didn't mean them, if I thought this is where I was gonna end up? I don't know why I feel this way.

Stitch: But you do. And that's all that matters. In the end, after all we went through, we just weren't meant to be.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Amanda: Let me get this straight -- naya is claiming that she had richard killed?

Imani: Yes, thanks to whatever you said to her, our mother is now taking the blame for his death. She's claiming she did it to protect the family from scandal. She said she didn't want grandfather's political career ruined because she abandoned her babies. Are you happy now?

Devon: What's your problem? She's obviously upset to hear this, too.

Amanda: Of course I am. This is the last thing i would've wanted.

Imani: What did you expect to happen after you pushed her so hard?

Amanda: I never believed that naya was guilty of murder. I need to go. I need to talk to her.

Imani: No! No, you don'T. Just stay away!

Amanda: I need to fix this --

Imani: You've done enough, amanda. You shoved your way into our family, and then you decided, what, that you were morally superior to us? Or maybe poor little abandoned amanda didn't feel loved enough? So you just had to tear us apart, had to make us pay for all your suffering. Either way, you've done your worst -- to me, to my father, to grandfather. I may have just lost my mother to prison, and that is all on you.

Nick: Just want you to know I've, uh...got the newman jet all gassed up, ready to take you to europe first thing in the morning.

Summer: Wow, thank you.

Nick: I also got you a personal escort. You're gonna love him.

Summer: Who's that?

Nick: It's me.

Summer: Dad, you really don't have to do that. I'll be okay.

Nick: I know, but I want to. But I got to ask, you know, just one last time -- this is absolutely what you want.

Summer: Yeah, this is what i want.

Nick: Okay. Well, then I guess [Sighs] There's just one important thing I need to do.

Summer: What's that?

Nick: I need to learn how to say "super girl" in italian.

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

[ Door opens ]

Tara: Kyle? Everything alright? You look like your whole world just fell apart.

Kyle: It kind of has.

Tara: I'm here...if I can help.
