[ Papers rustling ]
Phyllis: [ Clears throat ]
[ Sighs ] Summer, I said I wasn't gonna bother you, but I'm bothering you. So, um...can you call me back, please? It's your mom.
[ Sighs ]
Tara: Angelina marchetti. She is on the verge of offering you the creative director job at her fashion house in italy.
Summer: Well, it's obvious that you've been talking to sally, and I thought you'd know better than that by now because nothing she says can be trusted.
Tara: You will be receiving a very generous offer. It's all been arranged. And you are going to accept it. If you don't take this job and leave the country, I will make sure kyle never sees harrison again.
[ Cellphone ringing ]
Summer: Oh, god, mom, just leave me alone.
Kyle: Is that my phone?
Summer: Um... no, it -- no, it's for me. Um, just keep getting ready.
[ Sighs ] Okay. Hi. Um, this is summer newman.
Angelina: Summer! Angelina marchetti. Do you have an answer for me? Are you going to join me in milan?
Summer: Uh, well, um...
Angelina: If there's a reason you're hesitating, tell me. We will solve it together.
Kyle: Who's on the phone?
Jack: Good morning.
Ashland: Hello, jack. You don't seem surprised to see me.
Jack: I was alerted to your presence.
Ashland: Ah. Mrs. Martinez, I'm sure. I like her.
Jack: Everyone does.
Ashland: [ Chuckles ] I hope you don't mind me dropping in like this.
Jack: If I said I did, would that change anything?
Ashland: [ Chuckles ] I suppose not.
Jack: I've grown accustomed to your surprises, ashland.
Ashland: Accustomed, but not appreciative. Is that what I'm to gather by your tone?
Jack: Well, you gather whatever you like. I've come to the realization that if these impromptu visits are the price we have to pay to have harrison in this house, well, then it's a good deal.
Ashland: He's a good boy, isn't he?
Jack: He is a delight. And we're happy to have him in this house as long as his mother wants him here. I assume you're here to talk to tara?
Ashland: No, actually, this morning I'd like a little joy in my life, and I'd like to see that little -- there he is!
[ Laughs ]
Harrison: Father!
Ashland: Ah! Hey, buddy.
[ Chuckles ]
[ Smooches ]
Nick: You really think you can get the promotion campaign for the rec center done by the deadline?
Adam: Yeah. I mean, we said we were gonna do it.
Nick: I mean, it's a big project.
Adam: Well, since newman media is still in pre-launch mode, we have plenty of time to dedicate to it. It would be a great way to start our partnership. Don't you think?
[ Knock on door ]
Billy: Morning, gentlemen. Hope I'm not interrupting.
Adam: Uh, you are, actually.
Nick: What are you doing here, billy?
Billy: Just wanted to bring a little office-warming gift.
Adam: What is it? Champagne?
Billy: Bubble bath, actually. Got it at the drugstore. Best $6.95 I've ever spent.
Adam: Boy, you are just as thoughtful as you are classy.
Billy: You know, it guarantees no tears. I'm not sure that promise keeps if your father is victor newman.
Adam: You know what? Actually, I am really glad you're here...
Billy: Mm?
Adam: ...Mainly because security now has you on camera. We can have a meeting with them and tell them not to let you in.
Billy: Well, that's not very welcoming to your new guest, is it?
Adam: You are not a guest. You are a nuisance.
Billy: Come on. I just came by check out the new digs. It's very nice. Little bit of a villain's-lair vibe, but I dig it.
Adam: No, you are here on a fishing expedition to find out our plans to bury you and chanccomm.
Billy: Can't both things be true?
Adam: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: [ Chuckles ] I'm here

Adam: Billy, I'm gonna say this slowly and clearly. Newman media welcomes healthy competition, but we're not doing a hatchet job on you or your company.
Billy: You expect me to believe that?
Adam: I mean, we would be within our rights to do it after the precedent you set, but we're gonna take the high road.
Billy: Did you hear that? Have you ever known adam or victor to not pursue a grievance to the bitter end?
Nick: Just leave me out of it.
Billy: Adam, you wouldn't know the high road if it bit you in the ass.
Adam: Well, admittedly, our strategy isn't all about that.
Billy: Oh, so, you admit it. You are gonna come after me. You know, your dear old dad was very clear that he plans on using this shiny new toy to try and bury me.
Adam: Well, he's not the one calling the shots. I am.
Nick: If I could say something. As entertaining as it is to watch you boys go back and forth, billy, if adam says he's not gonna come after you, then he's not. You can take his word for it.
Billy: When have you ever taken his side?
Nick: I don't need to explain myself to you.
Billy: You can't trust him, nick. You should know that. You should know that after all these years.
Nick: I've seen some changes in him. They seem real. He knows he's made some mistakes and wants to make better decisions for his life. There's probably a lesson in there for you, too, billy.
Billy: Nicholas, are you comparing me to him?
Adam: Alright, billy. Playtime's over. The adults have some work to do.
Billy: I guess we're done for now. Enjoy your bubble bath, ladies.
Adam: Oh, I will, after i check it for listening devices.
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Ashland: Army guys are gonna come out from the cover.
[ Imitates gunfire ]
Harrison: [ Speaking indistinctly ]
Ashland: You better watch the fox.
[ Imitates gunfire ] You know, I hope you realize how lucky you are to have this great kid living under your roof, jack.
Jack: We have come to appreciate the sense of wonder and fun he brings to this house. And, yes, we feel very fortunate.
Ashland: He's a good kid.
Jack: You raised him well.
Harrison: You're dead!
[ Imitates gunshot ]
Ashland: I did. Thank you for saying so. When he grows up, he's gonna surpass us all. He's gonna be braver and stronger and smarter and a lot better-looking than his old man ever was. Isn't that right, son?
Tara: Harrison, remember you wanted to show father your new toy. I think I saw it in the kitchen. Do you think you can take him and find it?
Jack: I would be happy to help. Harrison, come on. Let's go look for it. Here we go! Come on!
Ashland: [ Breathes deeply ] Did you orchestrate that so you could grill me?
Tara: What would I grill you about, ashland?
Ashland: I don't know. My playdate with my son today? Just don't worry. I'll have him back at the agreed-upon time.
Tara: That's good to hear, but I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about you.
Ashland: I'm fine. I'm ready to take on all comers.
Tara: I know what you're up against. You don't have to put on a show.
Ashland: Now, why do you think I would go through that much effort for you?
Tara: Stop. I mean, maybe it's too much to hope for, but I'd like it if we could be on good terms. Children can sense discord.
Ashland: Of course. Let's just get along for the child's sake, shall we?
Tara: I'm worried about your health. I don't want you to be in any pain.
Ashland: I feel good today. And I'm gonna treat every good day as if it's my last one... because I have no idea when this disease is gonna take over. I'm used to being in control.
Tara: Is that right? I never noticed. I'd like to think that some of that rubbed off on me.
Summer: Um, you know, I'm not in the office right now, so I am not prepared to give an answer, but I will be very soon.
Angelina: Are you telling me to be patient?
Summer: Uh, yeah, I -- I am, but your patience is very much appreciated right now.
Angelina: For you, summer, I will be. I just realized it's earlier there in the states than i thought it was. I probably woke you up.
Summer: No, not quite. Um, but we will talk later, when I have a clearer picture of what the future looks like.
Angelina: Ciao, summer.
Summer: Talk soon. Bye.
Kyle: What was that about?
Summer: Oh, um -- ugh. Don't you feel like work calls are getting earlier and earlier these days? It'S...so annoying.
Kyle: Hey. You okay?
Summer: Yeah. Wh-why do you ask?
Kyle: It's just something in your voice.
Summer: Yeah. I'm fine. I'm just -- I'm a little stressed. That's all.
Kyle: Well, last night you told me you wanted me to stay here because you didn't want to be alone. That's not like you.
Summer: I guess that just speaks to how irresistible you are.
Kyle: Hey, I'm trying to be serious here. What's really going on? It doesn't have anything to do with harrison, does it?
Summer: Actually, it does. As a repairman, I hear a lot of folks say
Kyle: Well, whatever it is, I'll fix it. Just tell me.
Summer: Kyle, it's not just about harrison. It's about... it's about me and harrison. Look, I-I just felt...guilty that I asked you to spend the night instead of being with your son. That's all.
Kyle: Whoa, whoa. I told you it was okay. He was sleeping. There was no more quality time to be had and nothing keeping me from coming back here. I'm glad I did.
Summer: Yeah, but it's not just about this time. It's about the next time, and what if that time he's not sleeping? I don't want you to have to choose between us. I... you know, I look at the two of you together and the bond that you share, and it's amazing.
Kyle: You're worried you're gonna get in the way of that?
Summer: No, no, it's not that. I... I cannot tell you how important it is to me that it works out for you and harrison. It means everything to me. The world. When I see the two of you together and the way that your face lights up and even the tone of your voice, I can tell how much you love him.
Kyle: What are you saying? Look, it would kill me if this became an issue between the two of us, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn'T. I love harrison. I love you. And I don't intend to forget that.
Summer: No, I-I really should -- I should go, kyle. I didn't expect this to get so emotional.
Kyle: It's clearly an emotional topic.
Summer: Yeah, well, I have to go, okay? I'm running late. Can we just talk later, please?
Kyle: Yeah, yeah. Why -- why don't get lunch at society? I need to swing by the house to see harrison first, but let's meet. We can talk.
Summer: Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, we can -- we can go there and just -- we'll talk about everything. Okay.
Kyle: Summer.
Summer: Yeah?
Kyle: I love you.
Summer: I love you, too.
Ashland: Why don't you go over, sit, and wait for the cookie over there, huh? Have I ever told you about my favorite baseball team of all time, the new york yankees? Did I ever mention them, harrison? You know why I like them? Because they're winners, always have been and always will be. And I want to take you to a baseball game. Does that sound like fun?
Victoria: Hey. A baseball game? Can I come along?
Ashland: Well, probably. Harrison, this is a friend of mine named victoria. Can you say hello?
Harrison: Hello, victoria.
Victoria: Hello, harrison. It's nice to meet you.
Ashland: Harrison, victoria is a very smart businesswoman, probably the smartest I've ever met.
Victoria: Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I do enjoy my work, just like your father enjoys his.
Ashland: Harrison is quite the exceptional young boy. He can recite the whole alphabet and count to 20. How about that?
Victoria: Wow. That's very impressive. I hear that you're staying at the abbott house with jack. You know, my little boy -- he loves spending time with his uncle jack. You know what he likes to do when he's over at his house? He likes to hunt for frogs.
Ashland: Wow, that sounds like fun, doesn't it, harrison?
Victoria: I can't tell you how many times when we're getting ready to leave, I hear a noise coming from his pocket -- "rib-bit, rib-bit."
Harrison: "Rib-bit."
Victoria: [ Laughs ] Yes. Johnny's always trying to sneak home with a frog, but I make him leave them in the yard, so maybe you can find one next time.
Ashland: You know, he usually doesn't warm to strangers like this. He must like you.
Victoria: Well, I like you, too, harrison.
Ashland: Well, since he likes you, he must have exceptional taste.
Phyllis: Where do you think you're going?
Summer: Did you even see me?
Phyllis: Uh, I saw you on the surveillance camera getting into the elevator. I knew you'd be coming.
Summer: Okay, well, I would love to talk, but I'm running late.
Phyllis: You don't have time for your mother, who loves you so much, even five minutes?
Summer: Mom, look, nothing has changed since last night.
Phyllis: Well, I hope something changed. I hope you were honest with kyle and told him what's going on. Summer. Summer! - Oh. - What's going on?
Jack: I take it you wanted me to get harrison out of the room so you could talk with ashland?
Tara: I did. Thank you for being so accommodating. And after our talk about the divorce last night, I know you can empathize with that awkward time where the marriage is over but there's still things we need to discuss.
Jack: Like a shared child? Yeah. Was it tense?
Tara: I mean, I was nervous about handing over harrison. But ash reassured me that he'd definitely come back.
Jack: I got to tell you, I am so impressed with the way you have handled things so far.
Tara: Well, I guess when you're forced to, you'll find a way.
Kyle: Hey.
Jack: Good morning.
Kyle: It's quite in here. Where's harrison?
Tara: Ashland just came to take him out.
Kyle: Oh. How did he seem?
Tara: He seemed in good spirits. And seeing harrison always has that effect on him.
Kyle: Hmm. I guess I will have to come back later and see my son. Summer and I are going to lunch, and I don't know how long that'll take.
Tara: Well, I am going to take advantage of this downtime, head to the spa at the grand phoenix.
Jack: Well, good for you. You deserve to be pampered.
Tara: Thank you. I will be back soon.
Jack: Hey. Everything okay?
Kyle: Yeah. Yeah. Sh-- she's dealing with a lot.
Jack: Yes, she is. Divorce is hard. I'm telling you. She's gonna need all the support you can give her, as long as it doesn't make summer uncomfortable.
Ashland: Well, I heard from my legal team this morning, and they'll be in touch with your people about your merger proposal. It's all very preliminary.
Victoria: So, the wheels are now officially in motion.
Ashland: This is my favorite part, everything wide open, the air full of possibilities.
Victoria: That's exactly why I like it, too -- the potential. I'm glad you saw it and didn't take offense at my offer.
Ashland: Oh, not at all. It makes sense. The more I think about it, the more I'm pleased that we're pursuing this.
Victoria: Well, this merger is gonna solidify your legacy.
Ashland: Maybe. But time is of the essence. Word of my condition will inevitably get out, and that's when the sharks will start circling, included among them my soon-to-be ex-wife. My board of directors loves tara, and she'll use the situation to her advantage.
Victoria: She'll never have time. We'll move so quickly, we'll shut out anyone who eyes your company with an agenda.
Ashland: You have an idea how to facilitate the process?
Victoria: I do. I think that we need to look into... this is a conversation for another time. You're here with your son. You guys should be having a fun time together.
Ashland: [ Stammers ] Of course. Well, perhaps we can discuss it, uh, over dinner later.
Victoria: Perfect. I will call you, and we'll work out the details. I'll see you soon. Bye, harrison.
Harrison: Bye!
Ashland: How's that cookie, pal?
Phyllis: There are two possibilities at play here. Either, um, you're still on the fence about going to italy, or you've made up your mind and you're too afraid to tell kyle that you're not gonna marry him in august and you don't want to deal with all the drama that tara brings...
Summer: Okay, mom, please --
Phyllis: ...To the table with her kid.
Summer: Mom.
Phyllis: Or there's interference.
Summer: Mom, please just stop. Please. This is already hard enough without you creating a multiverse with alternate timelines.
Phyllis: Well, I'm doing that because I have to come up with my own scenarios because you're not giving me anything. And you told me I have five minutes.
Summer: Yeah, and you have about 30 seconds left.
Phyllis: Need I remind you, you came to me.
Summer: That was yesterday and we talked and I thought you agreed that you were gonna back down until I was ready to tell you more.
Phyllis: Yeah, I can't keep my word about that. I'm sorry. I can'T. I'm really just trying to help you.
Summer: I know that, and i really appreciate that, but you're driving me a little crazy now.
Phyllis: Okay, well, then I'll calm down. I'll calm down. You got to give me something.
Summer: What if that once-in-a-lifetime love that you were talking about last night isn't what kyle and I have, but what he and harrison could have?
Phyllis: Seriously? That's what you're worried about?
Summer: I mean, this is a really important moment for kyle. He finally gets the chance to start things off right with his son, and he's never gonna get this moment again.
Phyllis: And you don't think you can help him with that?
Summer: Okay, well, harrison's not my son. And I don't want to be that evil stepmom.
Phyllis: You wouldn't be an evil stepmom. You don't have that in you.
Summer: Okay, but you can mess up a kid a thousand ways and not even realize it and... you know, there's a lot of pressure entering a marriage with a kid, a kid that I didn't even ask for. And maybe that's selfish. Maybe, I am selfish, but i just -- I can't ignore that feeling, right?
Phyllis: There's more to this.
Summer: Oh, my god. Mom, why can't you please just accept what I'm telling you?
Phyllis: Because I'm giving you a bunch of solutions, and you're giving me counterarguments. You don't sound like somebody who's on the fence. You sound like someone who's made up their mind. We've never been so ready to get back out there.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Adam: I'm gonna ask our P.R. Team to send you over a rough draft of the rec center next week.
Nick: That'd be great.
Adam: Oh, it is amazing how much work you can get done when you don't have a lunatic ranting and raving in the office. Is it just me, or was billy especially unhinged today?
Nick: Yeah, he wasn't holding back.
Adam: Yeah, I know he wants a war, but he's not gonna get one. He was actually disappointed about that. He was like a fighter training for a big bout, all psyched up, ready to go, and the other guy just doesn't show up. Now he's just a dork in a bathrobe in the middle of the ring.
Nick: Yeah, billy's gonna be looking over his shoulder for quite some time. But, honestly, genoa city could use some peace and quite right now, especially in our family.
Adam: Yeah. Yeah, we could. Uh, how's faith and sh-- how's faith doing?
Nick: She's doing great. I came home last night, and christian had fallen asleep with her. I guess they, uh, were having a sleepover or something. Really warmed my heart to see them like that, you know --
[ Sighs ] You know, I'm sorry. I don't want to rub it in with, you know, family and stuff. I know we had talked about how empty you thought the penthouse was --
Adam: No. No, it's fine. It's fine. I enjoy hearing about the kids. Makes me more excited to see connor. Thanks, by the way.
Nick: For what?
Adam: For helping me stay on track and see what's important. And for earlier, with billy, the things that you said. You, uh, had my back.
[ Clears throat ] I forgot to say...you know...
Nick: Not a problem.
Adam: Anyway, uh [Clears throat] Let's get back to work.
Nick: Yeah.
Kyle: I will do everything i can for tara, but summer has to be my priority always.
Jack: Of course.
Kyle: And it's all still so new. I've asked so much of my fiancée and I intend not to lose sight of that.
Jack: Good. I'm glad you have your head on straight. Kyle, summer's love for you is something special. The two of you have been through so much over the years, all the ups and downs. You've made it this far. You'd be a fool to lose her now.
Kyle: [ Laughs ] Ah. I knew it. You prefer summer over your own son.
Jack: Well, I never made any secret of that.
Kyle: I can't say I blame you. She is pretty amazing.
Jack: I've come to think of you two as A...package deal. Each of you is wonderful in your own way, but together, you have proven to everyone over and over again...you two are something special.
Summer: Well, I think your five minutes are up.
Phyllis: I don't believe they're up.
Summer: Mom, please. I cannot talk anymore. I'm running late. I have to go.
Phyllis: Okay, well, we will discuss this later.
Tara: Hi! Is there an opening at the spa this morning? I have a little free time because harrison's father is gonna be with him for a while.
Phyllis: Oh. Which father would that be? Kyle or ashland?
Tara: Oh, I guess I should have been more specific. It's ashland, though I can tell that kyle is gonna be a great parent, as well.
Phyllis: Oh. Really? You know that from the little time that kyle has spent with your son?
Tara: I do. And the good news is that kyle will be able to spend so much more time with harrison now that we're living in genoa city. I don't know if you've heard, but we've relocated my shoe company here. Lauren fenmore has offered to work with me, and I am so excited.
Phyllis: Wow. My goodness. Everything is just coming up roses for you, right? Although I'm sure that, um, you might miss new york, right? All your friends, harrison's friends.
Tara: Yeah, well, my new york friends were really ashland's friends.
Phyllis: Oh, right. People pick sides in a divorce. Right.
Tara: And harrison is at that age where he has no trouble making friends, so I'm not worried about him.
Phyllis: Mm. New father, new friends. Easy come, easy go, right?
Tara: Yeah. Bottom line is that I needed a change, and this town is the perfect place for us to start over. I mean, if I went back to new york, well, everything would remind me of my failed marriage. And here, everyone is so warm and welcoming.
Phyllis: Right. Yeah, genoa city is a very special place.
Tara: I do believe that. I mean, I have never met a family like the abbotts. I mean, we're basically living with them now. They're so generous. And I love how entwined our lives have become. And harrison and I have found the perfect place to start this next phase of our life. Shingles?
Ashland: How was that cookie, huh? Well, it took you about five seconds to finish that thing. It's pretty good, huh? You know what time it is now? It's time to go to the park. You ready to go?
Billy: Ashland, how are you?
Ashland: Billy, nice to see you.
Billy: And you must be harrison. You live with my brother jack. Are you enjoying the house? I'm sure you are. You got to go frog hunting because there's so many of them. Some of them are bigger than you.
Ashland: We heard all about the frogs, thanks very much. Harrison, why don't you go over and get yourself another cookie. Let's see what the gentleman has over here. How about those yellow ones over there or the sparkly ones, huh? Oh-ho, yeah. Ahh. When were you going to ask me about what I was discussing with victoria?
Billy: Mm.
Ashland: I mean, it wasn't hard to see you eavesdropping from over here.
Billy: Yeah, I saw the two of you, although I'm not fishing for whatever it was the two of you were talking about. Victoria made it very clear that whatever's going on between the two of you, she does not want to discuss with me. So I'll discuss it with you. You hurt victoria, you embarrass her, I will come after you. Hard.
Ashland: Sounds like a threat. What did I do to deserve that?
Billy: Well, it started with a coin toss to win the opportunity to go after your company. Victoria won fair and square, and then you screwed her over. Not to mention what you did with jabot. So I'm not reading tea leaves, ashland, I'm going off my prior experience with you.
Ashland: You got me there.
Billy: I'm serious. You don't want me as an enemy. Because I don't care how powerful or ruthless one might think they are, you hurt someone I care about, I don't forget.
Ashland: You know, I have to tell you, billy, this protective side of you is rather sweet, and it speaks well of victoria that she inspires this sort of loyalty from an ex. But the last person on the planet that you need to be trying to protect is victoria. She can handle herself, and I'm surprised you haven't noticed that. So if you'll excuse me, I'm spending the morning with my son, and that is precious time, and I'm not going to waste that. Cheers. Let's go, buddy. Oh, man, you got a good one. I'll pay my tab when I get back. Thank you. Wow! Can I have some of that?
Phyllis: I don't know. It's like this whole thing, I-it's come out of nowhere. All of a sudden, summer doesn't want to marry kyle.
Nick: Well, we know that harrison has changed the dynamic between them.
Phyllis: Yeah, but she was even talking to me about that, how excited she was to be a stepmom. And all of a sudden, bang, you know? She can't get away quick enough.
Nick: Do you think I should talk to her about it?
Phyllis: Oh, you can'T. You can't, because she told me to keep this between just the two of us, so if you step in, she'll know I betrayed her confidence. But I have to tell you. I don't know what's going on here. It's very big.
Nick: [ Sighs ] Yeah, I, um... I appreciate that. I mean, summer worked so hard to convince me that kyle was the love of her life and that they were destined to be together. I mean, for months, she was trying to get me to support them, and now she's just ready to bail on the relationship?
Phyllis: That's the impression I get.
Nick: So all this selling, you think it was just an act? You know, trying to convince herself? Because the way you're making it sound, it's as if she was never ready to marry kyle.
Phyllis: None of it makes sense.
Nick: Yeah. None of it.
Kyle: Thank you.
[ Cellphone chimes ]
Trelegy for copd.
Victoria: Sure. Send him in. Billy. You just can't seem to get enough of me these days. I hope this conversation ends better than the last one.
Billy: Well, I got something I need to say.
Victoria: Okay. And you couldn't tell me at crimson lights earlier, when you were spying on me?
Billy: I would've loved to, but you bolted out of there so fast, I didn't get a chance. Why did you take off so quickly?
Victoria: I got tired of prying eyes. So, what do you want me to know?
Billy: I wanted to give you a fair warning. Chanccomm is about to publish a story on locke's divorce. It's gonna be impossible to keep your name out of it since you are now involved.
Victoria: "Involved."
Billy: Whatever's going on with you and ashland, however deep it goes, it's news. You're both public figures. We need to keep our reputation, and, well, people are curious.
Victoria: People are curious? Or maybe you're curious. You know, I think this might be a way of you trying to pry into my personal life.
Billy: Would you rather i don't tell you? You can find out when the rest of the world does?
Victoria: Oh, wow. Well, thank you so much for your courtesy, but I think you're overselling chanccomm's reach.
Billy: [ Chuckles ] Thanks.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Anyway, you're on the right track. Soon, there will be actual news regarding ashland and me. But, uh, when you find out about it, it will be on my timetable.
Billy: Well, if you want to tell me something now, you can go right ahead, and I'll publish it.
Victoria: No, I'd rather drive you crazy trying to figure out what it is.
Billy: You're enjoying this, aren't you?
Nick: Alright. Do you have any idea what happens next? Because this job in italy, I mean, it sounds great and all, but I have never once heard our daughter express an interest in high fashion or anything like that. And what about her job at jcv? I thought she loved that. Is everything going okay there?
Phyllis: I mean, I guess so, as far as I knew.
Nick: Okay. So, she's got a job here that she loves, uh, her family and friends and kyle. Why does she need to leave?
Phyllis: I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I mean, she opened up to me, but the more I started asking her questions, then she closed off, and, you know, that tara locke came in here earlier. 'Kay. I mean, maybe summer is just intimidated by tara and the relationship that kyle has with harrison.
Nick: Do you think summer could be using this job as an excuse to just give kyle some time and space with his new son?
Phyllis: [ Breathes deeply ] Yeah. I mean, it's a lot to deal with. All of a sudden, your fiancé, he has a child. And there's a custody battle. And dealing with that guy ashland. It's all really complicated.
Nick: Yeah, it's not at all what I wanted summer to deal with as a newlywed.
Phyllis: Maybe summer's just trying to make it easier on kyle, you know? Not giving him a choice. I mean, honestly, kyle could never move to milan with his son in tow.
Nick: Tara will never allow that.
Phyllis: No. I mean, listen, tara...she's nuts. Okay? It's just my instinct -- she's nuts. And summer keeps on saying that she's made a decision, but i don't think she has.
Nick: Well, maybe our daughter has career aspirations that she's never mentioned to us. But considering their history, I think summer's eventually gonna realize it was a mistake walking away from kyle.
Phyllis: Are you on kyle's side now?
Nick: Look, I've come to terms with the fact that they love each other, and it would be a shame if they lost what they have because of some misunderstanding or because summer can't tell kyle what she's really feeling. Is there any way we can get her to put the brakes on this?
Phyllis: It's 100% summer's choice. Or maybe it isn'T.
Summer: Hey, sorry I'm late.
Kyle: Was starting to worry. But you're here now. That's what matters. Felt like we needed to talk without any interruptions. And when you rushed out this morning, I still felt like we had things to discuss.
Summer: Oh, well, I don't even remember what I was talking about. But I'm so hungry. I need to eat something.
Kyle: You don't remember what we were talking about? Really?
Summer: Okay. Actually, I do.
Kyle: Summer... hey, what is it? I can tell something's bothering you, and it's more than just our discussion about harrison. I can feel it. Hey, please. Don't keep things from me. Summer, just tell me.
