Episode #12129 ~ Ashland shares shocking news with Victoria. Summer loses patience with Tara. Sally reconnects with Eric Forrester.
Provided By Suzanne
Jack: Hi.
Summer: Hi. Hey, uh, how was your lunch with Kyle and Harrison?
Jack: Incredible.
Summer: Aww, that's good.
Jack: I promised my grandson we'd have cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow, and I'm trying to get here before they're sold out.
Summer: Oh, I could have gotten them for you if I'd known.
Jack: I didn't realize this is where you were headed when you left the house.
Summer: Yeah, I do some of my best thinking here.
[ Chuckles ]
Jack: You know, you could have stayed. As a matter of fact, you would have been welcome to come with us.
Summer: No, no, it's fine. Honestly, Tara was probably right. It was, you know, probably a good opportunity for all the Abbott men to get some bonding in. And it gave me some time to do some wedding planning. By the way, did Kyle tell you that we moved the date up to August?
Jack: He did. I am thrilled, and I am happy to help in any way I can.
Summer: Oh, actually, well, I am having a really difficult time deciding on this cake. I don't know whether to do butter cream or fondant or how many tiers I should do. I don't know. I know it's a very fraught decision right now.
[ Both laugh ]
Jack: It sounds like a question for the groom. You know what? Come back to the house with me. Harrison's napping. Kyle's free. He's just finishing up some e-mails.
Summer: Uh...yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, why don't you go get the cinnamon rolls and I'll just pack up?
Jack: It's a deal.
Summer: Okay.
[ Breathes deeply ]
Kyle: There's so many legal angles to this. I appreciate you looking into it. You too. Thanks again.
Tara: Sorry if I interrupted your call, but I just got off the phone with the lawyer.
Kyle: Any word from New York?
Tara: Yes, believe it or not. Ashland's custody offer came in this morning. The lawyers are marking it up now.
Kyle: Mm. How's it looking?
Tara: So far, Ashland's making good on his promise to resolve things amicably.
Kyle: I'd like to think it's legit, but I still can't figure out what could have caused this complete 180.
Tara: Jack has a theory. Apparently, Ashland has been spending time with Victoria Newman. It's possible that he took her to New York last night on his jet.
Kyle: Wow.
Tara: Yeah. Perhaps that's a factor in his decision. I mean, if he's moving on with someone new, maybe he's losing interest in punishing me.
Kyle: Even so, it still has to sting.
Tara: Of course. He's free to do what he wants.
Kyle: If it means the divorce will be less nasty and he won't fight me to be a part of Harrison's life...
Tara: It's a relief, definitely.
Victoria: So, how is your afternoon going?
Ashland: Well, it looks like I should be asking you that question.
Victoria: Well, let's see. Since we had lunch, I had a very successful meeting with a start-up tech company that I'm interested in acquiring.
Ashland: Mm.
Victoria: But let me clarify. When I say "successful," I mean, uh, my favorite 2015 Napa cab successful.
Ashland: Nice going.
Victoria: Thank you. Would you care to join me?
Ashland: [ Sighs ]
Victoria: Oh, maybe you don't feel like celebrating right now. Did you just come from your divorce attorney's office?
Ashland: That's all being handled.
Victoria: Ashland, is something bothering you? Is it bad news? Did a deal fall through?
Ashland: Well, you can't win them all. However, this wine that you picked -- definitely a winner.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ]
Ashland: Shall I do the honors?
Victoria: By all means.
Lauren: Okay, will you do me a favor? Will you call their office and tell me what we decided?
Sally: Will do. Oh, and before I forget, the staff meeting that you asked me to cover -- in addition to the regular agenda, I went over the new vacation policy. It's pretty straightforward, and nobody had any questions.
Lauren: Good. Thank you.
Sally: So, how did your meeting go with Tara Locke?
Lauren: Um, it was a little bit more like a get-to-know-you.
Sally: Well, I am looking forward to doing all of the marketing on her new shoe line whenever she comes on board.
Lauren: Except that she's not ready to commit. She's adjusting to the changes in her life and doesn't want to make a big career move.
Sally: But if you need me to chime in with my own sales pitch, just say the word. I have gotten to know Tara a little bit, and I think we have a few things in common. Two ambitious and creative women in need of a fresh start.
Lauren: And how's that going? Your fresh start in Genoa City?
Sally: Good...I think. Unless you have some concerns about my work?
Lauren: No. No. You've been amazing. I've just -- I've noticed you've been a little bit subdued lately. And, look, I haven't wanted to pry. I figured it was about Jack and the fact that that didn't work out.
Sally: Yeah. Uh, that was a disappointment. But it is what it is, and I had to let it go.
Lauren: And sometimes that's all we can do.
Sally: I never bring it up whenever I see him at the office, and I have not let it affect my work.
Lauren: You haven't. You have been fantastic, professional, mature. But are you happy?
[ Door closes ]
Nina: What a gorgeous day. Have you been outside? If I squint at the oaks and pretend that they're palm trees, I can almost think I'm back in Los Angeles.
Abby: Did you see the news?
Nina: No, I didn't take my phone. What?
Abby: I just got an alert. It says that there's been a sting operation in Vegas and something went wrong. Six people were rushed to the hospital, including a federal agent. Oh, my god. What if that was Chance?
Sally: I hope I'm not coming across as ungrateful. You have given me a fantastic opportunity, and I just want to make the most of it.
Lauren: Oh, Honey, this isn't a criticism at all. In fact, I was just concerned that maybe you were pushing yourself too hard, and I wanted you to understand how important it is to maintain a balance.
Sally: Well, if I've seemed a little tense lately, it's got nothing to do with work. Frankly, um... it's because of Phyllis. I know that she's a friend of yours, but it's just a little bit uncomfortable knowing someone that influential is so determined to see me fail.
Lauren: Okay, look, Phyllis is a woman of very strong opinions, and she was concerned about the frictions between you and Summer. But she never intended to trash your career.
Sally: Okay, I will have to take your word for it.
Lauren: Please do, because her proposed solution was for me to promote you to a very prestigious position at the Los Angeles Fenmore's store. I wanted you to stay here, obviously. So, you see, even at her most vociferous, she was looking for a win-win.
Sally: Well, thank you for telling her no. And it really does make me feel a lot better knowing that you actually want me here.
Lauren: Very much so.
Sally: But you may have a point about me pushing myself a little too hard.
Lauren: [ Chuckles ] Mm-hmm.
Sally: If it's okay with you, I would like to knock off early and recharge my batteries. I will be back at my desk tomorrow, ready to take on the world.
Lauren: Yes! Yes, yes, yes, permission granted. Go have fun!
Sally: Great. Thanks. I will do that.
Lauren: [ Chuckles ]
Nina: Why do you think that Chance would be involved in this fiasco in Las Vegas? I mean, we don't know where he's been.
Abby: But I always wondered if the feds sent him back there. I mean, that's where he was on a case before.
Nina: The one where his cover was blown by Adam's exposé, but -- I mean, so, that's the last place he would be, don't you think?
Abby: Christine has connections, so I -- I am going to call her and demand that she tells me where my husband is working.
Nina: No. Wait a minute. Let's just take a deep breath and try to relax because even if cricket had that information, she's made it very clear she can't share it with us. It's just too risky.
Abby: This constant worrying is so hard. I mean, I don't know how much longer I can take it.
Nina: I know. This secret mission has gone on longer than either of us ever expected, but we're just going to have to find a way to tough it out together, okay? 'Cause there is no other choice.
Jack: I managed to snag the last four rolls.
Kyle: Way to go.
Tara: Harrison has such a sweet tooth. It'll be a real treat for him.
Jack: So, what are you two up to?
Tara: We've been discussing ways for me to put down roots in Genoa City.
Jack: Well, I like the sound of that.
Kyle: I was happy to hear Lauren took me up on my suggestion to talk to Tara about working together. I hope you'll keep the door open.
Tara: I totally will. And earlier, I was driving around town, getting a feel for the various neighborhoods since I can't live here forever.
Jack: Well, I hope you know that, uh, you and Harrison are welcome to stay in this house as long as you need. And I agree with Kyle -- working out a deal with Lauren could be great for your shoe line.
Tara: You're so kind and generous. You've made such a difficult transition so much easier.
Jack: It has been my absolute pleasure. Hello, Beautiful.
Summer: Hi.
Kyle: Hey, Beautiful.
[ Laughs ]
Summer: Hi. Um, so, is there any news on the custody front?
Kyle: Actually, yes. Wonder of wonders, things appear to be working out. The lawyers have their heads together. It seems like they'll be able to come to an agreement.
Tara: It's pretty amazing.
Kyle: And Tara's been looking at starting our new life here.
Summer: Mm. Well, that's fantastic.
Kyle: Yeah. How's your afternoon been?
Summer: Um, productive, actually. Um, I wanted to talk to you about some wedding plans.
Tara: Oh, with everything you've had to cope with, a fun, light conversation like that is just what you need. And then after Harrison wakes up, you could go to the park and have some playtime?
Kyle: I'd love that.
Summer: Hey, uh, can I come along?
Kyle: Absolutely.
Jack: I'm gonna put you on hold for a second. We have a growing situation with the vendor supply chain.
Kyle: The French lavender oil?
Jack: Yeah. I'm on top of this, but I'm gonna need that spreadsheet you were working on.
Kyle: Ah, yes, it's on a thumb drive... back at my hotel suite. I'll get it to you right away.
Jack: Ralph, you still there? Okay. I want you to set up a meeting at the restaurant at the grand phoenix. I'll be there in 20 minutes. We'll iron everything out then. Thanks.
Kyle: Oof. Sorry to run out on you like this.
Summer: It's okay. Um, hey, just text me when you're on your way to the park with Harrison, and I'll just meet you there.
Tara: Summer, why don't you wait for Kyle here? And we could use that time to get better acquainted since we're gonna be a big part of each other's lives.
Summer: Yeah. Sure, yeah. That sounds great.
Kyle: [ Chuckles ]
Jack: Ladies.
[ Door closes ] Ok everyone, our mission is to provide complete,
Summer: [ Breathes deeply ]
Tara: I brought some of Mrs.. Martinez's pumpkin bread to munch on with our tea.
Summer: Uh, no, thank you. I already ate.
Tara: Well, I never got around to lunch. I could have eaten with the boys, but I wanted to give them some time together.
Summer: Yeah, that was probably smart, given that Harrison is gonna be having a lot of new people and places to adjust to.
Tara: Well, we're all learning to adjust, including you. I mean, you were planning this big wedding, and out of the blue into your life plops this little boy.
Summer: [ Chuckles ] No, I mean, Harrison is very adorable, and, uh, wedding planning is coming right along.
Tara: I'm glad to hear it. I mean, I'm so grateful that Kyle has, uh, taken to Harrison as he has. And he's spending so much time with him. I can understand how that might be a problem for you.
Summer: No, it's not a problem. I know how important it is to Kyle to be a good dad.
Tara: I admire how supportive you are. I mean, you've clearly figured out how to manage all these changes and keep them from coming between you.
Summer: Look, I think it's really sweet that you're concerned about my relationship, but you don't need to be. My fiancé and I have survived way more challenging situations than this one.
Tara: [ Chuckles ]
Kyle: Okay. Be right back with that spreadsheet.
Jack: I'll be waiting.
Sally: Coco, it's so sweet of you to offer to drive in to meet me in L.A., But it is gonna be a super short trip, and I just won't have time. I love you, too.
[ Chuckles ]
Jack: Business trip for Fenmore's?
Sally: Nope. Personal. Just catching up with an old friend.
Jack: Is that so?
Sally: What is your question, Jack?
Jack: Are you moving back to L.A.?
Sally: Would you be happy if I did?
Jack: It just occurred to me that you might be better suited to the pace out there.
Sally: I like the pace here just fine. So, no, I am not moving back. I have learned to love this place, even if this place hasn't learned to love me back yet. I am referring to the town and not to you. I've accepted that the two of us aren't gonna happen, as much as I might have wished otherwise. And all the mistakes I've made over the last few months has given me something to prove, which is why I'm staying. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a plane to catch.
Victoria: One gallery show was enough for me. You see, painting in my mind was just all about the sheer joy of creating art, and once you started focusing on the business aspect of it...
Ashland: Everything changes.
Victoria: Luckily, I was fortunate enough that I didn't have to make a living at it.
Ashland: [ Chuckles ]
Victoria: But, you know, looking back, that year that I spent in Italy -- it was a gift. Sometimes I wonder how my life would be different if I had just stayed in Europe and never come home.
Ashland: But you did and rose to become CEO of a major conglomerate that just happens to be part of your family legacy, hmm? With a perspective on the world that is so much broader than most of your counterparts.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ]
Ashland: Do you have any idea how rare that is?
Victoria: Actually, I do. And now you have me wondering if maybe there's this hidden artist somewhere inside of you, yearning to be free, yeah?
Ashland: [ Chuckles ]
Victoria: I mean, do you ever fantasize about chucking it all for a garret in Paris? Because it's not too late.
Ashland: [ Breathes deeply ]
Victoria: Ashland, what is it?
Ashland: [ Sighs ] That meeting this afternoon, um, wasn't a meeting. It was a doctor's appointment, with a specialist. And as it turns out, it is too late...for a lot of things. Your mission:
[ Door closes ]
Kyle: Hello?
Tara: Your timing is perfect.
Kyle: Yeah?
Tara: Harrison is up from his nap and so excited to go to the park with you.
Kyle: Awesome. Where's Summer?
Tara: Oh, she had to go back to the office, but she is still planning on meeting you at the park.
Kyle: Must have cut the girl talk short.
Tara: Oh, not really. And it went very well, in case you were curious.
Kyle: I was a little bit.
Tara: I mean, Summer seems to understand that Harrison is our top priority, making sure that our little boy is happy and secure.
Kyle: Summer's been very supportive from the beginning. She's the best.
Harrison: Daddy!
Kyle: Hey, buddy! Ready to go have some fun?
Harrison: Yeah!
Kyle: [ Chuckles ]
Abby: I'm sorry. I don't mean to be an alarmist. And you're right. I mean, we don't know that Chance is in Vegas. He hasn't even given us a hint to where he is. For all we know, he could be on the other side of the world, not that that is especially reassuring.
Nina: Well, what would be reassuring? Just picture a place where you feel comfortable and see him there.
Abby: [ Sighs ] On a beach somewhere, going undercover as a surf bum, and he'll come home with a really gorgeous tan.
Nina: [ Laughs ] There you go. Look, I know you're not used to all this stress, worrying about his safety.
Abby: I knew that he was in law enforcement when I married him.
Nina: Doesn't help, though.
Abby: Then what does? I mean, what do you do to take your mind off of it, Nina? Ahh. There's something, but you don't want to tell me.
Nina: Mmm...
Abby: [ Laughs ] Is that because it involves large quantities of rum?
Nina: [ Laughs ] No. And I'm glad it doesn't because I would be in trouble!
Abby: Then why are you holding back?
Nina: Mm. Because if I tell you, you're gonna tell Chance, and then I will never hear the end of it.
Abby: Ooh, now you have to tell me. Look, and I swear I will take it to the grave. I promise. But, please, if there's something that'll help make this less of an ordeal, you have to tell me because I am about to lose my mind.
Nina: Alright.
[ Mug thuds ] Wait here. I'll be back.
Victoria: I assume that your medical news has to do with your recent heart attack? Do you have to have more surgery?
Ashland: Oh, it turns out it's an unrelated issue, one that they discovered through the chest x-ray that I received before they put in the pacemaker. The doctors weren't sure what they were looking at, at first, but, uh, it has since been confirmed -- small cell lung carcinoma in the advanced stages.
Victoria: Advanced, meaning...?
Ashland: They're giving me six months.
Victoria: Oh, my god. Ashland, I'm -- I'm so sorry.
Ashland: It's been a hell of a spring -- losing my wife, my son, my health, one after the other.
Victoria: Six months. Is -- is that the worst-case scenario? I mean, are there treatments? Is there any hope?
Ashland: Well, there are a few treatments out there that could extend the amount of time that I have. Each one has about a 10% success rate, "success" being a relative term, given that the, uh, treatments are rather grueling. I don't want to prolong my life if I'm going to be miserable.
Victoria: But if it gives you more time with the people that you love...
Ashland: Who, at this point, amount to my son.
[ Sighs ] What a frightening thing to put a little boy through... seeing his father frail and sickly, in pain, suffering. No. Absolutely not.
Abby: Cross-stitch?
Nina: See, this is why
[Laughing] I didn't tell you! I know it's not sexy or glamorous or anything like that, but it is ever-so-soothing.
Abby: [ Laughs ] Huh.
Nina: Seriously. You just add one stitch after the other, and by the time you're done, you've got something that turns out the way it's supposed to, unlike life.
Abby: Let me see this. That's very sweet.
Nina: I'd be happy to teach you.
Abby: You know, I've never even touched needle and thread before. I don't think I would know how to do this.
Nina: Well, it just so happens I've got another baby-themed thing here. It would be perfect for the nursery, and it's good for both genders, since we're doing this the old-fashioned way and not finding out if it's a boy or a girl until they're born.
Abby: Well, sure. Why not?
Nina: So, did, uh, Mariah give you any hints?
Abby: No. If she found out the sex at the ultrasound, she certainly has not told me.
Nina: Ah, this is it here. Okay, so, this one's stamped. It's super easy. You just fill in the squares until you're done.
Abby: Okay, well, I will probably still be working on this when Chance gets home.
Nina: That's fine. It's a no-judgment zone here. Let's get a needle threaded for you.
Abby: [ Sighs ]
Victoria: So, you learned all of this today?
Ashland: Yesterday, over the phone. Hence the reason for my quick trip back.
Victoria: You knew about this the whole time? Oh, my god, I -- I never would have guessed.
Ashland: Well, I didn't really want to tell you. Uh, for one thing, I didn't think you would believe me, given the nature of our business negotiations and the games I played.
Victoria: [ Stammers ] You never would have invented something like this.
Ashland: Well, at least you have that positive impression of me, given that we haven't known each other that long. I'm so sorry. This is really selfish of me, to dump this on you like this.
Victoria: I don't see it that way. Honestly, I'm just surprised that you would want me here at a time like this. I mean, you just pointed out that, I mean, you and I -- we're practically strangers.
Ashland: And, much to my amazement, I don't feel you're a stranger at all. It seems like we've always known each other.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ] What about Tara?
Ashland: What about her?
Victoria: Well, given your illness, doesn't that -- doesn't that change things as far as she's concerned?
Ashland: Well, of course it does. It's the reason why I'm not going after full custody.
Victoria: No, that's not what I mean. I mean, maybe there's a chance for reconciliation.
Ashland: [ Scoffs ]
Victoria: You can live together as a family. She could oversee your care.
Ashland: 'Til death do us part? No, I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer to go to my grave knowing that my wife truly loved me and that my son was my son. But it's a little too late for that. I can't blame Tara for everything that happened in our relationship.
Ashland: You were right. I neglected her. I was just too focused on business. But that's who I am. I just couldn't dial it back. I don't need to explain it to you. You understand.
Victoria: Yeah. You and I -- we're a lot alike. We're competitive, with a lot of drive.
Ashland: You know, Harrison's young. He'll miss me for a little while. In time, memories will fade, and he'll for-- forget all about me. And he'll grow up, you know, thinking that Kyle's his dad. And it could be worse. You know, the young man seems intelligent and sincere, albeit gullible.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ] That's a pretty accurate description of him.
Ashland: And what about your niece -- Summer? You think she'll be a good stepmother?
Victoria: Uh, to tell you the truth, I never thought about her as a mother. She likes kids. I know she has a close relationship with her younger brother and sister. You know, the Abbotts and the Newmans -- they're a very tight-knit group. Summer and Kyle -- they'll have a lot of support.
Ashland: My little Harrison, growing up the great grandson of john Abbott and Victor Newman. It's a hell of a legacy. It may sound a bit strange, but that...brings me some peace.
Kyle: Ooh. Look, Harrison. There are a lot of kids for you to play with in the sandbox. I know meeting new people can be a little scary, but you can start by just saying hi. Hi. I'm Kyle. And this is my son, Harrison.
Danny: I'm Danny. Nice to meet you. And this little guy is K.J.
Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Well, Harrison is looking for a buddy to play with.
Danny: Ah, K.J. Would love that. We're in town visiting my parents.
Kyle: Nice. Well, Harrison, it's always easier to meet new people when you have a friend with you. How about the two of you go play in the sandbox together?
Danny: Go ahead.
Kyle: Oh! [ Laughs ] And just like that, they're a part of the crew.
Danny: Like they've known each other for years. There's no better feeling than watching your son have fun.
[ Sighs ]
Sally: [ Exhales heavily ] Eric.
Eric: Sally?
Sally: Hi.
Eric: What are you doing here?
Sally: I probably should have mentioned that I was in town when I left that message, but since you didn't get back to me, I realized you must be very busy, so I thought that I would just drop by and say hello in person.
Eric: You're just about the last person anybody around here wants to see, Sally.
Sally: I-I just need 10 minutes of your time, and then I will head back to Genoa City. Please.
Eric: You said this has something to do with Summer Newman?
Sally: That's right.
Eric: Well, I'm friends with her family, so I'll hear what you have to say, but you're on the clock. And this better not be one of your schemes.
Sally: Not at all. I have learned from my mistakes. I am just trying to help out a friend.
Kyle: Hey. Everything resolved?
Jack: Ah, for now. The supply chain is pretty volatile. We may have to revisit this later in the year.
Kyle: I still feel guilty not just handling it myself.
Jack: Don't. There will always be work. There won't always be a sweet 3-year-old who wants to play in the park. You make a commitment to spend time with your kid, you do just that. Don't get in the habit of letting him down because of some crisis that's brewing in the office.
Kyle: Yeah. Priorities.
Jack: Exactly. From my perspective, you are precisely where you need to be right now.
Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, I had my lawyer do some digging, see if Locke's strategy for the custody battle involved accusing Tara of negligence.
Jack: Did it?
Kyle: No clue. Locke kept his word and dropped the whole custody thing, so I told the firm to step down.
Jack: Well, let's hope his change of heart is genuine. That way, Tara can worry less. But it's better to be forewarned.
Kyle: Yeah.
[ Both laugh ] Tag's his game, alright.
Jack: Is it me, or is he running circles around those other kids?
Kyle: He's got natural athletic ability. Takes after his granddad, the tennis star.
Jack: Would that be something?
Kyle: Are you kidding me? Look at him go.
Jack: He seems so lively and sociable, and at home he's so shy.
Kyle: Well, it's the surroundings.
Jack: You think?
Kyle: Well, he's not used to the house yet or the people that are there, but he knows his way around a playground. And kids are the same everywhere.
[ Chuckles ] What?
Jack: I like this new side of you.
Kyle: Eh...
Jack: You're a natural at this. You know that?
Kyle: I plan to emulate your parenting style as much as I can. We may not have had a lot of time together when I was growing up, but you made the time we did have count. If I didn't have your example to guide me, I'm not so sure I could do this, dad.
Jack: You're doing just fine, son.
[ Both laugh ]
Abby: Ow! Ugh.
[ Sighs ] Look, I think I messed this whole part up. I mean, how do I fix this?
Nina: You're gonna have to take it out and do it again.
Abby: How is this supposed to be relaxing?
Nina: Let me get my seam-ripper. It'll be easier.
[ Cellphone ringing ]
Abby: It's an unknown number. What if it's someone calling about Chance, someone to tell me the worst?
Nina: Do you want me to answer it?
Abby: No, no. I-I got this. Hello? It's Abby. Chance! [ Laughs ] Oh, my god. You have no idea how good it is to hear your voice.
[ Sighs heavily ]
Eric: So, you and Summer Newman have become friends?
Sally: That's right, which is why I want to see her reach her full potential. She has gone as far as she can at JCV, and she's ready for so much more. She's talented, ambitious, hard-working --
Eric: No, I'm well aware of her qualifications. She just made that deal with Spencer Publications, so...
Sally: And totally crushed it.
Eric: Ah. But she's Victor Newman's granddaughter. If she wants to go for bigger and better things, why doesn't she just go to Newman Enterprises?
Sally: And do what? Peddle commercial real estate? Newman sold off their cosmetics division. They're totally out of the beauty biz, and they've never been involved in fashion. What Summer has her heart set on is that opening at Marchetti.
Eric: In Milan?
Sally: But she can't pursue it herself 'cause she hasn't been at JCV that long. The optics would suck, and it would look totally disloyal.
Eric: I suppose.
Sally: But if Marchetti pursues her, that's something else. Maybe you could reach out, put in a good word, convince the brass there to hire her. Leaving my name out of it, of course.
Eric: Why not go for the gig in Italy yourself? You're qualified.
Sally: I can't leave Fenmore's now, not while I'm still a junior marketing exec. It would send the wrong message that I couldn't hack it, and I already left L.A. With my tail between my legs. Remember? I never want to do that again.
Eric: I understand you wanting to turn over a new leaf, Sally. I do. But I can't in good conscience, uh, go into something this important without checking with Victor.
Sally: Well, that would totally ruin the surprise. Victor would go to Summer with the news. They're so close. Besides, if Summer wasn't offered the job, she would be really disappointed.
Eric: You're going to a lot of trouble on Summer's behalf if there's nothing in it for you.
Sally: If Summer's position were to open up at JCV, it would be my dream job. But I swear I am not backsliding. It's a win-win. It's a great opportunity for Summer and the chance for me to turn my life around, while still staying away from the Forresters and the Spencers. Please, Eric. You've always been one to give people second chances.
Eric: Alright, I'll give it some thought. I'll get back to you.
Sally: Well, that's not a "no."
[ Chuckles ] Thank you so much.
Eric: Have a safe trip back to Genoa City.
Ashland: Gentlemen, I'm gonna hop off now and let the rest of you figure out how to tackle this. We'll reconvene when you all are ready to present to me. I want to thank you for your hard work, and, uh, have a good one. Please forgive me. How crass of me to be conducting business in your hotel suite after hours.
Victoria: Don't worry about it. I mean, there's really no such thing at our level, is there?
Ashland: Alright, come out with it. You want to ask me a question?
Victoria: Are you afraid?
Ashland: You know, I never thought I would be. I've jumped out of planes and climbed Kilimanjaro. But those were risks I decided to take. You know, this is something different and definitely not of my choosing.
Victoria: I just think that there's one thing that you need to do right now, and -- and that is to make every moment count. So, what do you want to do with this one?
Summer: Hey. Hey. I'm so sorry it took me so long to get here. The speech I've been helping Lauren with on the future of fashion -- it just all had to be reworked. I'm sorry.
Kyle: No worries. You only missed me making a fool of myself on the monkey bars, trying to impress my son.
Summer: [ Laughs ] Oh, well, I bet you awed Harrison with your gymnastics prowess.
Kyle: Yeah, I don't know about that, but he did laugh so hard he made himself hiccup.
[ Both laugh ]
Summer: Aww. The proud papa.
Kyle: I am. I freely admit it.
Tara: Hi. I saw the wind was picking up, so I thought that I would come and bring Harrison his Jacket.
Kyle: Well, he's been playing tag for a while now, and the way he's running around, I doubt he's cold.
Tara: Oh, it looks like he's having a blast.
Kyle: Mm-hmm. Has he always made friends this easily?
Tara: Uh, kids his age? I'd have to say yes.
Summer: Well, he is a charmer, just like all the Abbott men are.
Tara: I'm going to have to follow our son's lead, make the most of our new life here.
Kyle: I like the sound of that. If you need any help, just say the word.
Abby: Babe, Babe, I think you have a bad connection. Yes, it's all garbled. I-it sounds like he's shouting. Chance, Chance, just slow down, okay? Chance? Chance?!
Nina: Abby, what is it? What happened?
Abby: The line went dead.
