Episode #12106 ~ Nikki surprises Sharon. Rey is suspicious of Chelsea's change of heart. Phyllis shares words of wisdom with Summer.

Nick: I know.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Nick, I told you that I would come back to genoa city, I would give my kidney to your daughter, and you told me you would make sure that I'd escape.

Nick: Adam, I will keep my word. I will get you out of here if that's what you want. But there's another option.

Adam: [ Sighs ] What?

Nick: If you really are innocent, then just stick around. Let this thing play out. Then you don't have to live like a fugitive, going from town to town, looking over your shoulder.

Adam: Why would I want to risk ending up in prison?

Nick: Because it'll go a long way in proving to everyone that you're willing to change and be a better man, like you told me back in kansas.

Adam: I remember.

Nick: Alright, then. I'll ask you the same question. Are you ready to keep your word?

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

Victor: Well, now I think this went very well, you know. That was a tour de force. What a performance. You had michael baldwin and the detective believe that you had a real breakdown.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Well, it was easy to tap into my feelings of anger and betrayal.

Dr. Hedges: I don't need to remind you that I'm participating in your scheme at great personal risk.

Victor: [ Laughs ] Yes, d-- yes, you just did, right? Didn't you?

Dr. Hedges: I expect to be appropriately compensated.

Victor: You'll be well compensated. Don't you worry about a damn thing.

Dr. Hedges: Thank you.

Victor: Alright.

Dr. Hedges: I'll go make the arrangements for chelsea's hospitalization.

Victor: Thank you, doc.

Dr. Hedges: You're welcome.

Victor: Well, now, everything went as planned, didn't it?

Chelsea: Stop acting like we're a team. I had to play along.

Victor: I didn't force you to do a damn thing, did I?

Chelsea: Victor, you gave me no choice when you threatened to take away my son.

Victor: Mm.

Nikki: How's faith?

Sharon: She's resting peacefully. Nate says that she'll probably sleep the rest of the day. I cannot believe how much that little girl has been through in such a short amount of time.

Nikki: Well, we all need to stay strong for her. Everyone in the family sends their love.

Sharon: Everyone has been so supportive. Why can't it always be like this?

Nikki: Very good question -- for a later date. In the meantime, is there anything I can get for you?

Sharon: Actually, nikki, there is something you could do for me.

Adam: You want me to turn myself in. I'm tired of running and hiding, nick. I have done it so many times before. But you're asking me to put my life in the hands of rey rosales, who hates me, and michael baldwin, who has every reason to think that I am guilty.

Nick: Well, rey doesn't like you. That's a fact. He's made that very clear. But rey's a very honorable man. He just wants the truth, and michael, all he wants is to see justice served.

Adam: So what?

Nick: So give them the truth. If you didn't do this, then you will go free. Then once you get cleared from the charges, you can have this life that you claim to want under the light of day instead of the cover of night.

Adam: Why would you want that for me? Why do you care?

Victor: Well, chelsea, whether you like it or not, you and I are on the same team.

Chelsea: No. No, no. You backed me into a corner. I had no choice. I had to confess to poisoning rey or you were gonna use your money and power and influence to take my son away from me forever. My sweet little boy, that I love more than anything, you used him against me, victor. What -- what is he gonna think of his mother now?

Victor: Slow down. You know you did the right thing, okay? And your boy will soon learn that you weren't yourself when you committed this crime. By doing what you did, you avoided prison.

Chelsea: There are no guarantees.

Victor: Once charges have been brought against you, dr. Hedges will explain to the judge that you weren't yourself when you committed the crime. And then the judge will remand you to a psychiatric facility.

Chelsea: And I can stage my recovery on my own timeline.

Victor: Yeah. You'll out of that facility much sooner than you would get out of prison.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] And you get exactly what you want.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] God, thank you for guiding us through this very difficult experience. Thank you for saving faith. We're so grateful. And thank you for bringing adam home to us to save my little girl.

Nikki: We ask that you help faith's body accept the transplant she has just received. I'm hoping this will be a time of healing, not just in the physical sense for faith and adam, but spiritually for all of us. I pray that our family will find peace in the coming days and that sharon and rey will find their way back to each other and rediscover the happiness they deserve.

Nick: Alright, I'm not gonna lie to you, a week ago, i wouldn't have cared which path you took to get out of this mess. Actually, that's not true. I would have preferred the path that led you straight out of town and out of our lives for good forever.

Adam: Goodbye and good riddance?

Nick: You got it. See, then I wouldn't have had to worry about all this havoc that you like to create and all this pain that you cause all these people that I care about. I thought you loved being the troublemaker, you know, the family pariah.

Adam: Oh, I did enjoy it sometimes.

Nick: I just figured that's who you are and who you're always gonna be. It annoys the hell out of me that dad and sharon always seemed to have this blind spot when it comes to you, but then i found you in that cellar in -- on that farm in kansas of that man who you killed when you were a kid.

Adam: Hey, accidentally killed.

Nick: Well, you weren't fronting, you weren't pretending to be something that you weren'T. You were just you. You were scared.

Adam: You were scared, too.

Nick: Alright, maybe a little. But the point is...

[ Sighs ] You were there for a reason. You know, it's like you were punishing yourself for this crime that happened all these years ago. You were searching for penance. And for the first time in my life, I saw actual regret, that you really do want to be a better person.

Adam: I do want that.

Nick: And you didn't take off when you had the chance. You know, to leave me there to bleed to death. You came back for a brother who doesn't like you. You risked your freedom to save my little girl's life. And I will never, ever forget that. It doesn't erase our past, but it does begin to heal some of those wounds.

Adam: Well, that means a lot, nick.

Nick: Look, I know you think that nobody's willing to give you a chance to prove that you're different, but if I do, then maybe others will, too. So here I am, willing to give you a chance.

Victor: You know, adam deserves to be free. I mean, he had nothing to do with what happened to rey.

Chelsea: What about what adam did to me? He turned his back on me when i was fighting to regain my health for a stroke he caused.

Victor: That makes what you did today even more admirable.

Chelsea: Well, my life, my future depend on it. But what does that future look like? In some asylum?

Victor: You'll be well taken care of, chelsea. Once dr. Hedges has treated you, he'll declare you to be sane and you'll leave the facility and start a whole new chapter of your life.

Chelsea: I need you to give me your word that you'll do what you're saying, that you will help me start over when all of this is done.

Victor: Hi.

Rey: Hi.

Victor: So, chelsea got into the ambulance without difficulty?

Rey: She did. I will be personally overseeing her transfer to the mental facility.

Victor: Oh. Well, hope the girl gets the care that she needs, you know?

Rey: I still can't believe how far gone she was. Chelsea fooled everyone, including her doctors.

Victor: I mean, that girl knows how to cover her tracks better than anyone I've ever known. I think, eventually, the weight of her crime was too much to bear for her.

Rey: And it all came crashing down. Conveniently here, where a doctor was present to witness her breakdown and administer a sedative.

Victor: Well, as I told you before, detective, had you listened to your wife and me the past few weeks, we would have all been spared this pain. You have a nice day.

Rey: Yeah.

Adam: So you don't think I'm a monster anymore. Well, that's good. But I just think it's enough for me to abandon my very legitimate fear of going to jail for something I didn't do.

Nick: If you run, you just confirm everyone's assumption that you're guilty.

Adam: Yeah, and if I stay, rey's gonna lock me up, and that'll make me look even worse.

Nick: You like a fight, don't you? If so, then stay and fight for the life that you want.

Adam: If I'm playing the odds, it's a long shot that I'm gonna win this battle. I mean, are you really asking me to gamble my entire future on the possibility that I might be vindicated? 'Cause if you're asking me to agree to that right now, i can'T.

Nick: Alright, fine. Just consider what I'm saying. Think about staying and fighting with dad and sharon at your side -- and me, too. You're not on your own.

Adam: I will give it some thought, but the window of opportunity to escape is closing.

Nick: Yeah, clock's ticking. So I'll take off, give you some time to think about it. I'll be back later, you let me know what you decide.

Adam: Nick.

[ Sighs ] Thank you.

Nick: Adam, I can't tell you what to do, but you need to think about why did what you did, why you stepped up and helped faith. That says about the kind of person you are. And whatever you do next could change everything for you. You'll know what to do. Is now a good time for a flare-up?

Nick: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey. So I want you to know that I've gotten in touch with all of your children. One of them has written a poem for faith.

Nick: Which one?

Phyllis: Christian. So adorable.

Nick: I'll have him recite it to me later.

Phyllis: Great. So, uh, everything seems to be okay here. I'll go back to the hotel.

Nick: Yeah, thanks for coming. Faith's out of surgery, so everyone can breathe a little easier.

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. She seems to be doing good.

Nick: Yeah, I just hope her body doesn't reject the kidney.

Phyllis: I'm sure it'll be fine.

Nick: I like that attitude.

Phyllis: You weren't with faith. Were you visiting another patient?

Nick: Yeah, I went and paid a visit.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] How did you get him to come back here? Wow, you're really not gonna tell me, are you? Okay, I'm not gonna push it. Do what you want. It's no problem.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Alright. Well, I have to go to the hotel. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call.

Nick: I won'T.

[ Sighs ] I saw adam.

Nikki: How's he doing?

Nick: He's humbled. Never thought I'd say that about him, but physically, he's fine.

Sharon: Did you guys have a good conversation?

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: You know, you two haven't had a moment alone, and you never did eat that soup that I got for you. You were so worried about faith. Why don't you two go down to the cafeteria and catch your breath? I'll stay with her.

Nick: That's a good call. Sharon, you want to come?

Sharon: Sure.

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

[ Door opens ]

Victor: Here I am.

Nikki: Hey.

Victor: [ Mumbles ] Thank you for the updates. Is she doing well?

Nikki: So far, so good. She's a very tough young lady.

Faith: Grandma? Grandpa?

Victor: Hi, sweet girl.

Nikki: How are you feeling?

Faith: Tired.

Victor: Of course you're tired. You go to sleep, okay? Then when you get all better, we'll talk all day.

Nikki: The whole family sends their love.

Faith: I love you, too.

Victor: Sweet girl. I'm gonna see adam.

Nikki: Okay. Oh, wait. So why were you so delayed at the ranch? Did something happen with chelsea?

Victor: Oh. It's a long story. I'll tell you later. I'll tell you later.

Nikki: Okay.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Yeah, let's get this straight -- you're repairing the windows because you installed them incorrectly. It's not some magnanimous gesture on your part. You're actually just doing your job. Yeah, I appreciate that. We'll see you soon. Thank you.

Summer: Hey. Hey, thought you'd still be at the hospital.

Phyllis: No, they didn't need me there, unlike this place, that needs me all the time. So here I am.

Summer: Well, thank you for keeping me posted with everything. I'm so glad that the surgery went well, but I'm curious, what's the mood like over there? I know everyone's relieved with faith, but what about -- what about adam? I mean, he's still getting arrested, right?

Phyllis: I don't know. I guess so.

Summer: Makes it a little hard to hate him as much as usual after what he did for faith, no?

Phyllis: Mm, but does it? Does it really? I mean, I don't know. It's hard to think of -- of, uh, believing in adam and liking adam again, showing him any affinity. But it doesn't matter. I don't know what happened in kansas. I don't know how your dad was able to talk adam into coming back and doing this -- this sacrifice.

Summer: I don't know. I'm sure dad will tell you when he's ready, right?

Phyllis: Yeah, but he's not telling me, and I want to know now.

Summer: Or we can just simply accept the fact that dad got adam to leave and help, and just leave it at that, right? I mean, that's the important part, that he stepped up in the end.

Phyllis: How did it happen? What did nick do? What did he say to him? It had to have been epic.

Victor: [ Exhales sharply ] How are you feeling?

Adam: Lighter without that extra kidney weighing me down.

Victor: [ Chuckles ]

Adam: No, all things considered, I'm fine.

Victor: Glad to hear that, son. Nate tells me that everything went as planned.

[ Exhales sharply ] I want to thank you, son, for what you have done for our family, for faith. It was an extraordinarily unselfish act.

Adam: Well, you could thank nick for that. He's the one that found me and told me that I needed to come home, and he didn't stop there.

Victor: Meaning what?

Adam: He's been trying to convince me that my best move would not to be escape from this hospital. He thinks that I should take this opportunity to prove to everyone I'm not entirely evil and surrender to the police. I mean, I know what everybody thinks I'm gonna do, but, i don't know, maybe it's time to surprise them all and turn myself in.

Victor: You don't have to do that.

Adam: I don't know, might be better to run. I don't have much time. Nick's waiting on me to answer.

Victor: You don't have to decide a damn thing. You no longer have to fear being arrested.

Adam: What are you talking about?

Victor: Chelsea confessed to everything. It's over. My nunormal?

Rey: Hi. Sharon, thank you for leaving me the message about faith.

Sharon: Of course. I know how worried you were about her.

Nick: Look, we're fortunate that faith and adam both came through their surgeries as well as they did, but you must realize it's gonna take a few days for adam to recuperate before you can take him into custody.

Rey: If you're asking when adam will be arrested, it doesn't matter anymore.

Sharon: What do you mean?

Rey: Victor called me to his house.

Sharon: Oh, is that where you ran off to?

Rey: Chelsea was there. And she completely unraveled before my eyes. She confessed to the poisoning and about faking her paralysis. Adam was innocent all along.

Victor: She came to me, and she said that she was concerned for connor.

Adam: Why? Is connor okay?

Victor: Oh, yeah. I called his school. He is safe and happy, okay?

Adam: Alright, so why was she concerned?

Victor: Well, because the guilt of what she had done was weighing on her too heavily, i guess, you know? And she was nearly had a breakdown and was about to have one, so I called michael baldwin and the detective and a psychiatrist.

Adam: Wow. I'm sure she hated that.

Victor: Oh, yeah, she didn't like it at all, you know? And then she proceeded to confess everything, you know? Then she went into great detail how she framed you, you know? And then she also admitted that she had gotten over the stroke much sooner than she let on. And she claimed never to have intended to kill rey.

Adam: But she could have. Alright, I'm glad that the truth has finally come out, but I hate that it happened in such an awful way. I never would have wished that on her.

Victor: Of course not. You're the father of her child.

Adam: Did she ever mention what drove her to this extreme?

Victor: I think you know.

Adam: My relationship with sharon?

Victor: Yep. She claims you had an affair with sharon right in front of her eyes.

Adam: That's a lie. She's imagining things.

Victor: Okay.

Adam: Obviously, I have a strong connection to sharon, but there was no affair.

Victor: I believe you.

Adam: Where is she now?

Victor: Well, both michael baldwin and the detective felt that she was in no shape to be arrested. So the psychiatrist sent her to a psychiatric hospital.

Rey: Chelsea was disturbed. Her behavior was erratic. She didn't seem like herself.

Sharon: Do you think that was a by-product of the stroke?

Rey: Well, the psychiatrist said that was a possibility.

Nick: I never would have thought chelsea would be capable of something like that. I had just started to wonder if there was any truth to adam's claims.

Rey: Well, now you know, like I do, that sharon and victor were right about him.

Nick: I'm gonna go talk to nate. I'll check in with you later.

Rey: I'm sorry for not believing you.

Sharon: I wish you had, but i do understand why you didn'T. I feel bad for chelsea, but I am so relieved that adam doesn't have to face charges for a crime he didn't commit. But right now, what I really want to know above all else -- where does this leave us?

Rey: I'm not ready to have that conversation.

Rey: Yeah. There was more to what I heard from chelsea today, and if that's true, there is no future for us.

Rey: Chelsea said that you and adam were having an affair, even making love in adam's bedroom while chelsea was downstairs.

Sharon: That's not true, i swear.

Rey: Something happened that pushed chelsea over the edge, something devastating.

Sharon: The mind, the imagination can be a very powerful force, especially in the grips of paranoia.

Rey: I don't want a psychological analysis of chelsea right now. I just want the truth. Did something more happen between you and adam than just that one kiss?

Sharon: The fact that you have to ask me that, it breaks my heart and it makes me afraid that this is really over for us.

Adam: I feel terrible. Betrayed and hurt and angry. But I also feel responsible. I should have taken better care of chelsea. I put her in this position. I should have known what was happening right in front of my own eyes.

Victor: How could you know?

Adam: Because I should have known. She needed help.

Victor: Son, and now she's getting the help, okay? It's not the end of her story, but remember, it's the beginning for you -- the beginning of a new story -- now that you are free.

Adam: Yeah. 'Cause of you. 'Cause of you. You came to my rescue again.

Victor: [ Sighs ] I always will, my boy.

Sharon: Um...I'm sorry. I didn't know victor was here.

Adam: No, come in.

Victor: How's faith?

Sharon: She's very good. Victor, thank you for having the surgeon come to town.

Victor: I would move mountains for that sweet girl. In fact, I'd do that for anyone in my family.

Sharon: And I know that's true. Nick and I just heard the news about chelsea. That's shocking.

Victor: Yeah, that's putting it mildly.

Sharon: Well, I'm glad that you were able to arrange to have rey hear her confession and you also found a psychiatrist who can care for her.

Victor: I just did what i thought was best for everyone, you know?

Adam: Dad.

Victor: Yeah.

Adam: I'd like to speak to sharon privately.

Victor: Of course.

Adam: If you don't mind.

Victor: You bet. I'm heading home, and I'm gonna pick up nikki on the way. She spent all day here, so I'm sure she's tired. Okay, son.

Sharon: How are you?

Adam: Are you okay?

[ Both laugh ]

Sharon: Yeah, I'm fine, now that my daughter has a new kidney. How are you doing?

Adam: I'll be fine, physically. It's gonna take a while to work through everything that's happened with chelsea. And for it to sink in that I'll actually be able to walk out of here without looking over my shoulder.

Sharon: Well, once you wrap your head around all of it, what are you gonna do next?

Adam: Well, the first thing I'm gonna do is find a way to break the news about chelsea to connor. But I want to do it in a gentle way, a way that I think he can handle. And then I'll decide what my son and I will do moving forward. Victor mentioned that chelsea took out a restraining order to prevent me from seeing him.

Sharon: I'm sure, under these circumstances, you'll be able to get that removed.

Adam: Well, chelsea and I had dreams to move closer to connor's school and leave genoa city in the rearview mirror. We had so many plans to build our future together, and now it's just a memory of what might have been.

Sharon: The whole situation is tragic.

Adam: Did rey tell you what chelsea said? About us?

Sharon: That we were having an affair?

Adam: I'm sure that's gonna make things harder for you and rey. I'm so sorry about that.

Sharon: We'll work through it.

Adam: Well, I hope it works out the way you want. You deserve it.

Sharon: Nick said that you were trying to decide whether to flee or to stay here and face the charges.

Adam: That's right, until chelsea confessed and made the decision for me.

Sharon: I think you were closer to making your decision than you're letting on, and i think I know which way you were leaning.

Adam: You're right. Now go take care of your daughter.

Victor: [ Exhales sharply ]

Nikki: So, chelsea confessed to everything. I'm horrified by what she did, of course, but I can't help feeling a little compassion for her. She came very close to destroying adam's life.

Victor: Well, she didn't succeed, did she? And once adam has recuperated from the transplant, he and i will start business again. Things look very bright.

Nikki: You seem quite pleased with yourself. Have you done something you don't want the rest of us to know?

Victor: [ Chuckles ] Baby, how long have we known each other? Huh? Long time. You know damn well that I always take care of things, don't I?

Nick: How'd it go with rey? You alright?

Sharon: I will be. The only thing that matters right now is that faith is okay.
