Episode #12086 ~ Victor receives a surprise visitor. Rey interrogates Chelsea. Victoria and Billy compete for a second chance.

Ashland: Well, it's too bad adam wasn't able to join us. I assume it's due to his unfortunate legal situation.

Victor: You know, the allegations against him are rather baseless, and they'll be disproven very soon.

Ashland: Well, let's hope so. Adam made such a compelling case that I could trust him with the future of my company, despite his sketchy past. Now, what with the uncertainty regarding your ceo's status, uh, surely it's only reasonable that the terms of our deal be adjusted to reflect the increased risks involved.

Victor: There's gonna be no readjusting. I'm paying you top dollar. Take it or leave it.

Sharon: Well, how'd it go at the cottage?

Rey: Where's faith?

Sharon: She's upstairs finishing her homework. She has her earphones in, so she can't hear us.

Rey: Okay, good.

Sharon: I've been checking my phone constantly, but I don't see any news about adam being apprehended.

Rey: Because there hasn't been. The cottage was empty when I got there.

Sharon: How can that be? Do you have someone there watching the place in case he comes back?

Rey: I don't expect him to. He didn't leave much behind. Looks like he took off for good.

Sharon: I don't know what to make of that. Adam didn't tell me he was planning on leaving. But maybe he got worried that someone in the area spotted him.

Rey: Or maybe someone tipped him off that I was coming.

Sharon: Rey, I swear to you, I did not do that.

Billy: Is amanda here yet?

Lily: No, I haven't seen her.

Billy: I'm assuming you got the same text as I did about a meeting.

Lily: Yeah, I'm guessing she wants to talk strategy of how we're gonna fend off victor. I mean, he can't poach our top people and think that we're gonna do nothing about it.

Amanda: Good, you're both here. I know you have a lot on your plate, so I will make this brief. I need to request a leave of absence.

Elena: So is there something in particular you wanted to talk about?

Nate: Yeah. Us. I hate this awkwardness. Walking on eggshells all the time. Before we got together, we were the best of friends.

Elena: Yeah, we were.

Nate: Look [Sighs] Maybe we were never meant to be a couple. But could we at least try to get past this tension and be buddies again? Are you not up for that?

Elena: No, it's not that. It's just...I couldn't help but notice you used the word maybe. "Maybe we weren't meant to be a couple." Does that mean that there's some small part of you that thinks that we still could be?

Billy: Is everything okay? Is this, like, a medical issue?

Amanda: Oh, no, no. I'm fine. I've been offered an opportunity, thanks to my birth mother. She referred me to a politician who's in need of an attorney -- sutton ames.

Amanda: He is. And there is a reporter who is making some serious allegations against him. He's bracing for an arrest.

Billy: So this is a criminal case.

Amanda: Yes. And he's asked me to lead his defense.

Billy: Well, I can personally vouch for how effective you are.

Lily: So, sorry, what's the connection between your mother and sutton?

Amanda: She works with him. But it does mean a lot to me that she recommended me. I think it will bring us closer. This is an opportunity that i can't pass up. I can establish myself as a criminal lawyer and show my mother what I am made of. I hope the both of you can understand why this is so important to me.

Lily: Yeah, absolutely. But we are gonna miss you.

Billy: Yeah, big time.

Amanda: I will make sure that my team is prepared for every employee that wants to jump ship. I will save you that headache.

Billy: Well, we appreciate that. And of course, good luck with everything.

Lily: Yes, with your family and the case.

Billy: And whenever you're ready to come back, your job will be here waiting.

Elena: There I go, putting you on the spot again, even though you've made it very clear that you wanted to take a step back romantically. Which I respect. Honestly, it's been good for me. It'S...it's given me a chance to get some clarity.

Nate: In what sense?

Elena: Well, I've been so furious with myself. For so many reasons -- starting with how badly I hurt devon. I let my insecurities sabotage my relationship, but now that I've had time to process things, I've realized that I wasn't wrong to be insecure about my relationship. I was wrong for reacting the way that I did. But he was drawn to amanda. And I think everyone could see that, except for maybe him. And I spent so much time kicking myself for ruining things, then going back, trying to see if there was anything left, and it was all so pointless. Unfortunately, that realization is coming to me a little too late for it to do us any good, isn't it?

Sharon: I didn't warn him that you were coming. Maybe he has as source at the station. I mean, you must have called for back-up. Or maybe he just realized that i would tell you where he was. I told you before, I've been pressuring adam to turn himself in, to trust you to investigate and find out who really planted that poison here.

Rey: You also said he didn't think that I'd be as easy to convince of his innocence as you were.

Sharon: That's true. Adam feels that you're biased against him and that he has no choice but to clear his own name.

Rey: Where else would he go?

Sharon: [ Sighs ] I have no idea, but he couldn't have gone far, though, because he's determined to prove that he was been set up.

Rey: You still have so much faith in the guy.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Look, I know that you don't want to believe that he was framed. But did nick catch up with you? And did he tell you that chelsea has suddenly regained her ability to speak?

Rey: I wouldn't call it sudden, sharon. She's been in rehabilitative therapy for months, ever since she had her stroke. And I spoke to nate about it.

Sharon: And what did he have to say?

Rey: He said she's improving. She's only said a few words, but her speech is getting better as her brain will continue to heal. And her motor function will be returning, too.

Sharon: You know that adam and I both suspect that she's regained much more of her abilities than anybody realizes, and that it happened a while ago. It doesn't strike you as convenient that she's regained her ability to speak again just at the exact same moment that she needed to counter his accusation?

Rey: Not particularly. The stress of adam accusing her is what might have pushed her to a breakthrough.

Sharon: Well, I imagine that you'll go over there and talk to chelsea yourself.

Rey: That's right.

Sharon: Be careful, rey. If adam's right, this woman is desperate and she's dangerous. And she's already tried to kill you once. (Judge) it's delightful.

Lily: Well, that was the last thing I expected.

Billy: Tell me about it.

Lily: I mean, amanda can't turn it down, but the timing could not be worse. She's put together a good legal team, but this is victor we're talking about.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Billy: Whoa. You're not gonna believe this.

Lily: What? Who is it?

Billy: Ashland. What can I do for you?

Ashland: I also have victoria on the line.

Victoria: Hi.

Ashland: I'll get right to the point. I'm having second thoughts about the deal I struck with victor and adam. I'd like for you both to meet me so we can discuss the situation.

Billy: Separately or together?

Ashland: The latter. Could you join me at my suite at the grand phoenix in, say, 20 minutes?

Billy: Good with me, yeah.

Victoria: I'll be right there.

Ashland: See you shortly.

Victor: [ Chuckles ] You enjoying yourself, ashland?

Ashland: There is still time for you to sweeten your offer.

Victor: Who the hell do you think you're dealing with, hmm?

Ashland: Well, I had every intention of honoring our agreement, victor. It is not my fault that your partner has gone... what is the word -- rogue?

Victor: Alright. End of conversation, ashland. Have a nice day.

Ashland: Cheers.

Victor: Michael, I need to speak with you, okay? No, not over the phone. Meet me at my ranch. Bye.

Billy: He listened to me! I mean, he had to have listened to me when I told him he's got to cut ties with adam because, well, you know, adam's a criminal.

Lily: Okay, I don't understand. Why does he want victoria there, too? Is he trying to get us into a bidding war?

Billy: Only one way to find out. Are you driving, or am I?

Lily: No, you are, because I'm not going.

Billy: Lily, don't do that.

Lily: No! We made our offer, and he turned us down, so if he changed his mind, he should say so.

Billy: Getting cyaxares out of the hands of victor and adam is a win for chanccomm, and it stops victor from poaching all our best people.

Lily: Okay, maybe. But this feels like a trap, and locke is just playing with us. So if you want to go, that's fine. But I'm not interested.

Elena: I wish I could tell you what you want to hear. That we can go back to just being "best buddies." But I don't think I can do it. I think it would hurt too much. I still have feelings for you.

Nate: I understand. And I appreciate your honesty. You said from the beginning you were confused and didn't know what you wanted. I should've never pushed you. That's on me.

Elena: You didn't push me. You just... you wanted to love me. But I wasn'T...I wasn't ready to be loved. I didn't feel like I deserved it. I felt guilty. But that's changed now because I've finally forgiven myself and I've let go of devon and any unrealistic fantasies of what could've been. You know, I do think that we could be happy. But I also understand if that's not what you want anymore.

Nate: It's not that I don't want it. I just...I feel like we missed our shot. Everything you're saying about learning to accept that you and devon weren't meant to be, i went through the same thing, only with you.

Elena: No, it's completely different. I'm over devon.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

Elena: I am!

Nate: Even if that were true, in the back of my mind, I would always wonder what if the day came devon wanted you back. I can't live like that, elena.

Elena: I get it. I...went back and forth too much, and I've ruined any chance that we had of ever getting together.

Nate: Elena --

Elena: I'm gonna go.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

Victor: Adam.

Adam: I didn't know where else to go. A lot of people think dealing with copd is a walk in the park.

Adam: My favorite scotch. Must've been expecting me.

Victor: You saved my granddaughter, adam. You deserve this. In fact, you deserve more.

Adam: Well, it's a little depressing so many people feel shocked by that.

Victor: I'm not shocked. Here. Cheers. You need this.

Adam: Ohh. So my life has been turned upside down. I didn't poison rey.

Victor: I know you didn'T.

Adam: Well, thank you. It's nice to know you still have faith in me.

Victor: Who do you think set you up?

Adam: Well, I could tell you, but you might not believe me.

Victor: Try me.

Adam: It's chelsea. She's not really paralyzed anymore. She played this perfectly. It'd actually be impressive if it wasn't so horrifying.

Victor: Uh-huh. Huh. I understand she's speaking again.

Adam: And how'd you find that out?

Victor: Well, nick just told me. He went to chelsea to find out where you were. And she sent him to sharon, thinking that she would know where you were. Did you ask her for help?

Adam: What a mistake that was.

Sharon: Finish your homework? All of it?

Faith: There weren't any papers. Just a bunch of reading and geometry problems. Guess if I had to have an accident and miss school, i picked a good time. Where's rey? I thought he'd be back by now.

Sharon: No, he's working tonight.

Faith: Bummer. So, are you busy? Want to watch something with me?

Sharon: Sure. I'll even let you pick the show.

Faith: Best mom ever. I'll make popcorn.

Sharon: Oh, I can do that.

Faith: Mom, I'm feeling well enough to operate a microwave.

Sharon: Yeah, but how am i supposed to fulfill my hovering duties if I let you putter alone in the kitchen?

Faith: You got me there.

Sharon: Oh, cheese or caramel?

Faith: Surprise me.

Sharon: I'll be right back.

[ Knock on door ]

Faith: Jordan. What are you doing here?

Ashland: Thank you for arriving so promptly. Please have a seat.

Victoria: This wasn't entirely unexpected. It's been clear for a while now that my brother adam wouldn't be able to live up to the commitments that he's made.

Ashland: Mm. Well, that's why we're here. I've informed victor that I'm backing out of our deal. Cyaxares is officially back on the market.

Billy: Well, congratulations. You've made the right move. But that doesn't explain why victoria and I are both here. You've heard our pitch. You know what we have to offer. What else can we do to help make your decision?

Ashland: Well, you each made persuasive cases on behalf of your respective companies.

Victoria: Just not persuasive enough.

Ashland: Well, at this juncture, I'm ready to hear the other side of the story. Opposing arguments. Ladies first. Why would it be a mistake to put billy abbott in charge of my company?

Rey: Thank you, chloe. While she's off checking on her kids, it'll give us a chance to talk. And isn't that a nice thing to say? So happy to hear that your speech was coming back. I hope this is a sign that you'll continue to make progress.

Chelsea: Hope so.

[ Clears throat ] Slow at first. Faster now.

Rey: That's fantastic.

Chelsea: [ Clears throat ] I can...move my arm a little. See?

Rey: You must feel ecstatic.

Chelsea: Need to get better. Need to hug my son again.

Rey: I understand. Would you mind answering a few questions about adam?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] That would be difficult.

Rey: Because of your voice?

Chelsea: Because I'm ashamed.

Rey: About what?

Chelsea: Last time. You wondered...

[ Sighs ] ...Why women, strong

[Clears throat] Smart women kept falling for adam's act.

Rey: You seemed upset when i asked you that.

Chelsea: I was offended. I thought adam was a good man. Wrongfully [Clears throat] Accused. But you were right. I've been a fool. Ok everyone, our mission is to provide complete,

Adam: Sharon did what she could to help. She brought me food, clean clothes. She even went to chelsea to deliver a message -- that I was nearby. She was determined to prove my innocence.

Victor: What happened next?

Adam: Sharon went home. She told rey where to find me. I had a feeling she was gonna buckle under the pressure, so i waited and watched from the woods when he showed up.

Victor: You should have come to me when you realized that you were being set up. You can't stay here now, okay? Michael baldwin is coming any minute now.

Adam: The da is coming here?

Victor: Yes, he is, okay? And why don't you hide in the tack house until I straighten things out. Yep.

Adam: Thank you.

Victor: Yep.

Adam: You were right. I should've come to you from the beginning.

Rey: What changed your opinion about adam?

Chelsea: Chloe opened my eyes.

[ Clears throat ] Read me the news about you. Poisoned. So shocking. So...vicious.

Rey: Go on.

Chelsea: I truly thought adam was innocent when he left. I thought he'd be able to prove that to you, to everyone. Then he'd come back to connor and me. Then chloe showed me the photo -- adam and sharon kissing.

Rey: How did that make you feel?

Chelsea: Enraged. Humiliated. It explained so much.

Rey: Such as?

Chelsea: Just all the things I'd been dismissing. Adam [Clears throat] Hiring sharon to counsel me. Their whispered conversations. Nick coming here, warning him to stay away from her. I realized I had been kidding myself. All the signs, they were right under my nose. Adam is obsessed with sharon.

Faith: Are you here to take pictures of my bruises so you can post them online for everyone to laugh at?

Jordan: I came to apologize. I feel terrible for tricking and embarrassing you the way I did.

Faith: Why'd you do it? Did you think it was funny?

Jordan: I was pissed that your mom wouldn't let us hang out anymore, like I wasn't good enough to socialize with her family or something.

Faith: That's not what it was about. She was freaked out because i was drinking and wanted to protect me. She suspected you were a bad influence, and surprise! She was right.

Jordan: I get it. And I'm sure your folks hate me even more now, but I had no clue that you were gonna react to my prank the way that way. If you had been killed driving that truck, or run into someone, oh, my god, I -- I don't know how I ever could've lived with that. I am so sorry. I hope you can forgive me.

Victoria: Thank you so much for your offer, but I'm not really interested in trashing the competition. I'm sure you've had the time to evaluate the pros and cons of each of our offers. So you don't really need me to weigh in.

Ashland: She gave you an opening. You have a free shot at newman enterprises.

Billy: I'll pass.

Ashland: That makes my decision more difficult. You've both given me equally compelling offers. I guess I'll have to rely on luck. Do you see this quarter? It was the first money I ever made as a boy, delivering papers. I've kept it close ever since. Never, ever let me down once. And now it's going to help me decide who the next owner of my company's going to be. So, heads, the bid will go to you. Tails, you and chanccomm. So who'd like to do the honors?

Victoria: Go ahead.

Billy: Alright. Looks like we have a winner. If you have postmenopausal osteoporosis

Billy: You know, this feels like that day I lost the jabot boat in a card game.

Victoria: Well, you know, at least there's a little more skill involved in poker. I think this was just pure luck.

Billy: Mm. Congratulations, by the way.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Can I buy you a drink to celebrate?

Victoria: Thanks, but no, no. I should meet with newman's legal team and get these contracts drawn up before locke has a chance to change his mind again.

Billy: Okay, easy. You don't have to rub it in already.

Victoria: Hey, cheer up. I know, I know it wasn't the outcome that you were hoping for, but it's not all bad news for chanccomm. I'm not gonna be using cyaxares to go after you the way my father was planning to do.

Billy: I'll find a way to content myself with that.

Victoria: Okay.

Faith: You have no idea how much you hurt me. You promised me that you were defending me against those mean girls, but it turns out you're the meanest one of them all. And now here you are, making this all about yourself, as usual. How would you have lived with the guilt if I had died?!

Jordan: You're right. I was a total bitch. I admit it. What can I do to make this up to you?

Faith: Nothing. There's no way that I will ever trust you again. How stupid do you think I am?!

Jordan: I've learned my lesson this time, honest. If it makes you feel any better, I got suspended. I can't go to the junior class trip or go to the prom, and my parents took away my car keys.

Faith: So how'd you even get here?

Jordan: Some friends gave me a ride.

Faith: Well, I hope they're still outside, because I want you to leave -- now.

Jordan: I really am sorry.

Faith: A part of me would love to believe that you mean that. But it doesn't even matter, because I do not want to know you anymore. So you can take your faux apology and shove it.

[ Sighs ]

Sharon: I'm so proud of you, the way you handled that. That couldn't have been easy.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Faith: Mom? What's wrong?

Victor: You need to pull this rey guy, whatever his name is, off this investigation, alright? Because he is ignoring other suspects.

Michael: Alright. I'll bite. What other suspects?

Victor: Chelsea lawson.

Michael: Would this be the chelsea lawson who had a stroke, can't move, nor utter a sound?

Victor: Your info is outdated. Apparently she's been able to speak now for quite some time now.

Michael: Based on what?

Victor: Not only that, she has a very close friend, chloe mitchell, who would love to see nothing more than to frame adam. She hates his guts.

Michael: Come on, victor, that's one hell of a stretch. Look, chloe has put away her animosity towards adam. And chelsea is his fiancée, the mother of his child. What reason would she have to destroy his life?

Victor: You must've seen the photo of adam kissing sharon. Now, chelsea has always been very, very jealous of sharon and the hold that she has over adam. And there's probably a way of punishing him.

Michael: That's a pretty outlandish theory.

Victor: Not as outlandish as assuming that my very cunning son adam would be so foolish. After being accused of murder, leaving a trail of evidence so that cops could find him.

Michael: That is hardly a cogent defense.

Victor: My son is innocent. And if paul williams and you and this rey fellow don't try to prove that he's innocent, I shall do so myself. I've been telling everyone, the secret to great teeth...

Lily: You and victoria tossed a coin for it?

Billy: Not exactly how i though ashland would conduct his business.

Lily: Okay, well, look, i know you're disappointed, but it's over. It's done. No more dealing with that egomaniac and his head games. Or having to get into a feud with adam and victor.

Billy: It's a lot less painful losing to victoria than it is adam and victor.

Lily: See? That is the perfect attitude. Okay, I'm gonna let our legal team know they can stand down.

[ Exhales sharply ]

Sharon: Okay, popcorn's on the kitchen counter. Why don't you go grab it? I'm just gonna take a moment to respond to this text, and then we can watch whatever you chose.

Faith: Okay. Caramel and cheese. You outdid yourself.

Sharon: Well, you deserve it after the way you handled jordan. Some people go their whole lives without ever learning to stand up for themselves like that. Might have just been easier to accept her apology, whether you wanted to or not, just to make peace, hold onto a friend.

Faith: So-called.

Sharon: Well, I remember when you used to admire her.

Faith: I had a lot of time lying in my hospital bed to think about how jordan screwed me over. No apology can ever erase that.

Sharon: It's a really hard thing to regain someone's trust once you've lost it. And I know that you're gonna have to face your other bullies when they come back from their suspensions, and not all of them will be as remorseful as jordan was.

Faith: I'm not looking forward to that. But I'll be able to handle it.

Sharon: If it ever gets to be too much, you can come to me, or your dad, your grandparents, your sisters, aunts, third cousins twice removed --

Faith: I get your point. I have a lot of people who love me.

Sharon: Tons and tons.

Rey: Where is adam now?

Chelsea: Ask sharon. She knows.

Rey: He's already left his hiding place. Sharon admitted that she's been helping him.

Chelsea: Then you must get how I felt. Sharon's your wife. Adam and I share a child together. Yet none of that mattered to them. All they want is to be together.

Michael: Victor, we've known each other a long time.

Victor: Yes.

Michael: And I know you're only trying to protect your son. But if you could refrain from interfering in this investigation. You wouldn't be doing adam any favors.

Victor: Listen to me, okay? As long as this detective widens his investigation to include chelsea, I won't have to interfere.

Michael: I warned you.

Victor: Well, that goes both ways, by the way.

Michael: Yeah. Good night, victor.

Victor: Good night.

Victoria: Hi, michael.

Michael: Hey. It's good to see you. I'm kind of in a rush.

Victoria: Oh, it's okay. We'll catch up later.

Michael: Right.

Victor: Well, this is an unexpected visit.

Victoria: I have news that i wanted to deliver in person.

Victor: Oh.

Victoria: I just struck a deal with ashland locke. Newman enterprises will be acquiring his media empire.

Victor: Well done.

Victoria: Too bad you don't mean that. I can tell that you're a little more disappointed right now than you're letting on. Once again, adam's criminal tendencies have gotten in the way of your big plans for him.

Victor: You're playing with the big boys now. You're my daughter. But beware. When you cross me in business, things get dangerous. Now see yourself out.
