Summer: What, having lunch in our suite?

Kyle: Well, it feels good to escape. Just the two of us. Shut out the rest of the world.

Summer: Yeah, look, I know it's been weird, having ashland and tara staying at the same hotel that we live in.

Kyle: I appreciate you being so cool about it all.

Summer: Yeah, of course. I mean, I told you, whatever issues come up, we'll face them together.

Kyle: You're the best.

Summer: I know.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Whoa. How'd it get so late?

Summer: Oh, yeah, your meeting.

Kyle: Better go.

Summer: Well, it's just downstairs? You'll be fine, right?

Kyle: [ Sighs ] You headed back to the office?

Summer: No, actually, I was just in the middle of something when you came in, so I'm just gonna finish that up really quick.

Kyle: See you later. Love you.

Summer: Love you, too.

Jack: Hey, give that chef of yours a raise. I just had a fabulous lunch.

Phyllis: Oh, right. Were you with sally?

Jack: I was with an out-of-town buyer who had a weakness for reuben sandwiches. Since yours are the best in town, I brought him here.

Phyllis: That's great to know.

Jack: Hey, I don't want to forget this -- I had a great talk with summer. Sounds like she and kyle are in a good place.

Phyllis: Oh, good. I guess she took my advice.

Jack: What advice was that?

Phyllis: Well, that's confidential.

Jack: Well, it sounds like your daughter is a little more open with you about their issues than my son is with me. Oh, speak of the devil.

Phyllis: Mm, I'm sure he's just late for a meeting. Not avoiding you.

Victoria: But I-I thought that -- I see. Thank you for calling. You aren't gonna believe this.

Billy: Well, maybe we can get together later and we can discuss this. I understand. Thank you for letting us know. That son of a bitch!

Adam: Oh!

Ashland: [ Laughs ]

Victor: If I may say so, ashland, I think you chose wisely. I think cyaxares will be more successful than it has been. Adam will see to it.

Adam: Thank you for putting your trust in us, ashland.

Ashland: Well, between you and victor, I have no doubt that my soon-to-be-former company will be in good hands.

Adam: Mm. Champagne?

Ashland: None for me, thanks. I need to go and pick up my wife and head to the airport. We're anxious to go home to our little boy.

Victor: Alright.

Ashland: My legal department will be in touch regarding the contracts.

Adam: [ Laughs ] We did it!

Victor: Congratulations.

Adam: Hey, if it hadn't been for you...

Victor: No, son, it was a team effort. You know, father and son. You did a hell of a pitch.

Adam: Still, I shouldn't have had my doubts.

Victor: I never had a doubt. So this calls for a toast. Would you do the honors?

Adam: To us and our massive win.

Victor: Cheers.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Man, would I love to see the look on billy and victoria's face right about now.

Victor: Well, I don't want you to gloat, okay? Whenever you beat someone, don't gloat.

Adam: I agree. I need to tell chelsea our news.

Victor: I think she's already heard.

Victoria: I told him that i would be happy to share a meal with him as long as his wife was invited.

Victoria: Do you think that maybe he was toying with me this whole time? Letting me think that I was on the verge of winning, when he had already made his decision?

Nikki: We'll never know.

Victoria: What a let-down! All the time and energy I put into that proposal, and for what?

Nikki: I am so sorry. I know how badly you wanted to make that deal.

Victoria: You don't have to say that, mother. I know that deep down inside you're secretly glad that i lost.

Lily: Look, we knew when victor entered the game that it was a long shot.

Billy: [ Chuckles ] Thanks for reminding me.

Lily: Look, our instinct was to opt out of the bidding, okay? And we decided to stay in. I think we just got caught up in the chase.

Billy: No, no, no, this wasn't a game. This is about protecting chanccomm, and it didn't work, so right now we got to be ready for the onslaught.

Lily: Okay, slow down. The ink hasn't dried. You're already entering battle mode.

Billy: Victor has a plan, okay? He always has a plan. Right now cyaxares is a weapon pointed directly at me and our company.

Lily: Right, I'm sure one day we'll have to defend our turf. And when I say "we," I mean myself and our entire content team, which happens to be the best in the business.

Billy: Okay.

Lily: So right now you don't have to focus on that -- on leading the charge.

Billy: With all due respect, lily, I'm a target right now.

Lily: Okay, billy, please. Just focus on what you do best, right? Which is being creative and coming up with ideas to grow the business. You shouldn't focus on old feuds. It's not good for you.

Billy: You know who you sound like?

Victoria: I know that, mom, i do. I just also know how much you hate being caught in the middle between dad and me. And if I had won this battle, it just would've made things more tense for you at home.

Victoria: [ Scoffs ] On the surface, maybe.

Nikki: I'm much more concerned with him teaming up with adam. Experience tells me that adam's probably gonna wind up turning against him and breaking his heart again, if not worse.

Victoria: Well, why don't you try telling that to dad? It's like talking to a wall. I'm sure he's thrilled right now that he's backed the winner.

Nikki: Victoria, he does not see you as a loser. But something tells me your father's opinion is not your main concern. You're thinking about billy, aren't you? And what this could mean for the two of you.

Victoria: It's bad enough that I -- that I him know that I jumped into this because i care about him enough to protect him, but it's even worse, mom, it's even worse that I failed.

Nikki: Honey, please be careful.

Victoria: Too late.

Nikki: I'm serious. You respond the same way your father does when his pride has been wounded -- by doubling down. I know you haven't asked for my advice, but I'm going to give it to you anyway.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I'm listening.

Nikki: Where billy is concerned, don't make any sudden moves. Wait for the urge to pass. Don't do anything that you can't take back.

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Billy: You think I'm gonna flip out again on account of adam, don't you?

Lily: I didn't say that.

Billy: You're thinking it.

Lily: Okay, look, what it comes down to is do you trust that I and the rest of the content team can protect chanccomm so that you can do your job?

Billy: Honey, this is not about trust, okay? You haven't gone up against adam before.

Lily: I know who he is and what he's capable of. There was actually this very detailed exposé on adam. Have you heard of it?

Billy: Touché. Look, lord knows, I don't want to get twisted up with that creep again.

Lily: Okay, then don't give it your energy, alright? Let me be on guard duty. Okay?

Billy: Okay. So I'll just do what I do best -- come up with content and trust what we have.

Lily: Yes, thank you.

Billy: Are we good?

Lily: When you said that i sounded like victoria before, do you think that she's anxious about you and adam competing again?

Billy: We don't have to go there.

Lily: Well, you brought it up.

Billy: Yeah, I know, and we've already talked it through, so I think we're good.

Lily: Well, my question still stands.

Billy: Still bothers you that she said what she said to me, doesn't it?

Lily: That she's in love with you? No, I think that we are solid.

Billy: That's right, we are solid. Solid like granite. Like a diamond. Like my thick skull. Think of the hardest surface that you can think of -- that's us.

Lily: Uh-huh. Well, I do still wonder what her next move will be, because you know there's gonna be one.

Billy: To be honest, the only newmans I think we need to worry about are adam and victor. But I will take it all into perspective. You got to be thinking how they got that deal, though, right?

Lily: I'm sure they offered more money.

Billy: Adam's a horrendous S.O.B. -- Locke knows that. In my mind, something shady went down.

Lily: Okay, honestly, it doesn't matter, alright? What's done is done. Onward and upward. Agreed?

Tara: You can leave those by the curb. Driver will load them.

Kyle: Guess you're headed home.

Tara: No offense, but I can't wait to get back. I wish ashland hadn't insisted i make this trip. It was awkward as hell.

Kyle: Made it through it okay. No harm done, right? Your husband doesn't suspect a thing.

Tara: We did a good job covering. Although it didn't help that we kept running into each other.

Kyle: Always in public places. This is my town.

Tara: You're welcome to it.

Kyle: You must be excited to see harrison. I bet he misses his mom.

Tara: I'm sure he does.

Kyle: Ashland said he's not much of a flyer yet, huh? Maybe once he's older --

Tara: Kyle, enough. Why do you keep doing this? You cannot be a part of my son's life. It's better for everyone if you just pretend he doesn't exist. (Dad) hey we can recycle those at the store now.

Victor: Well, chelsea, so nice to see you. Nikki and I will pray for your quick recovery, alright?

Chelsea: Lucky you, your prayers have been answered.

Victor: Son, let's go over the financials. Let me know when you're available.

Adam: I'll shoot you a text.

Victor: Thank you. Great day, son.

Adam: You too. Oh, it's nice to have some alone time. Last couple days have been a whirlwind. Not that I'm complaining. It has been great to work with victor again. Especially on a deal of this magnitude. I -- I wish I could have brought you in more on this. Gone over every detail. I would've loved to get your input. I hope I have your support. Yeah? Thanks.

Chelsea: You've done nothing but lie to me. Why shouldn't I lie to you?

Adam: Everything that I'm doing, rebuilding my career, rebuilding my relationships, it's for you, for our family.

Chelsea: It's the last thing I'd want, and you damn well know it.

Adam: I know that you probably have some reservations about me getting close to victor again, but I'm going into this with my eyes wide open. I know who victor newman is. I know his faults. But he's shown that he will be there for us when we need him.

Chelsea: I'm about to test that theory. But I need you to leave.

Adam: [ Laughs ] I can see that I am boring you. Alright, I'll give you a break. Meredith? I'm going out. She'll probably be ready for a nap soon. You gonna be okay if I go out for a bit? Alright. Shouldn't be gone too long.

Billy: So that did not go as we expected.

Victoria: Can't win 'em all.

Billy: Yeah, so they say.

Victoria: You seem to be taking it in stride.

Billy: Did your dad call you to rub it in your face yet?

Victoria: I imagine he'll want to do that in person to get the full effect.

Billy: Of course. What was I thinking?

Victoria: So I imagine that you're steeling yourself for their next move.

Billy: Not really.

Victoria: No?

Billy: No, chanccomm's rock-solid 'cause of the media division that you sold us. All our contracts with our business people are good. Talent are locked up. Mom still believes in us. I think we'll be fine, no matter what your demented brother throws at us.

Victoria: I'm sure you will be. If I ever led you to believe anything different, that wasn't my intent.

Billy: I know. I know why you did it. It was only because you --

Victoria: The company is sold. It's done. And we don't ever have to discuss anything in conjunction with that episode ever again, please.

Billy: Victoria. Look, I don't want you to feel bad about what you said to me when you opened up to me, okay? I understand that it's difficult for you to, you know, put yourself out there like that, and I'm sure you're kicking yourself that you did, even for that one second. But, please, don't feel awkward about it, okay? We're fine. We're good. Honestly.

Kyle: Have a good trip home, tara.

Tara: Thank you.

Kyle: Ashland, great meeting you both.

Ashland: You as well, kyle. You ready to go?

Tara: Bags are in the limo. I was just waiting for you.

Ashland: After you.

Sally: Ah. The one that got away.

Kyle: Excuse me?

Sally: The lovely tara walking out the door on you again. The true love of your life.

Kyle: Stop. It was a fling that ended a long time ago.

Sally: Yeah, but there will always be something tying you two together.

Kyle: Fantastic. Now I'm ready to get out of here.

Phyllis: Sally spectra! Just the woman I wanted to see.

Sally: [ Sighs ] We're for those who love to discover.

Sally: It is divine. You know, all that space and the view is just to die for. I honestly couldn't be happier.

[ Chuckles ]

Sally: Am I about to get upgraded again?

Phyllis: Um, something a little better one of our employees here, his name is troy, he has been asking about you.

Sally: Is that so?

Phyllis: Yes, yes. I mean, he's a trainer at the gym. He is gorgeous, gorgeous. And he wanted to know if you were single, and I told him you were.

Sally: Did you, now?

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. So I would be willing to set up a dinner between the two of you here at the hotel. It would be on me.

Sally: Wow. Well, that is just so unbelievably generous.

Phyllis: Oh, it's my pleasure.

Sally: I had no idea that you were so invested in your guests' personal lives.

Phyllis: Well, I am, I am. It's a full-service place.

[ Laughs ] And I'm a full-service owner, really. I mean, it's just really important to me that my employees are happy and that my guests are happy.

Sally: Wow. You must really hate that jack and I are becoming friends.

Phyllis: No. I actually have no problem with that, sally. No problem with a friendship.

Sally: Really?

Phyllis: Yeah. If it were to go further, well, then...

Sally: Yeah. You don't have to play these games. I get the message.

Phyllis: What is the message?

Sally: That you believe that your ex is too good for me.

Phyllis: I thought that went without saying.

Sally: Yeah, I don't want to hurt feelings, but I don't need your approval. In fact, honestly I could care less about your opinion.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. Well, you don't hurt my feelings, and just to make this clear, you know, I'm not the only one in town who feels this way. It's like everyone in town knows that jack abbott is out of your league.

Sally: Well, I am familiar with jack's romantic history, and I would certainly be an upgrade over some of the exes.

Phyllis: Okay, great. Alright, well, that's obviously a hit on me. Got it.

Sally: I didn't mention your name, but, I mean, if that's what you heard, not gonna argue the point.

Phyllis: Oh, wow. You think you are clever, don't you? So clever. You have this sweet, innocent act going. I'm sure that worked in la, but that will not work here.

Sally: Whatever you say.

Phyllis: I'm really busy. I don't have time to watch over you, you got that?

Sally: Well, as luck would have it, I'm actually on my way to see jack now. So I will be sure to tell him that you said hi.

Phyllis: You do that.

Sally: I will.

Victor: Where's victoria?

Nikki: Hi. She just stepped out for a bit.

Victor: Oh. I can see that, yeah.

Nikki: I hope you're not here to crow or to put her in her place.

Victor: Why would I do that?

Nikki: Well, you just won a hard-fought battle, and you wouldn't be you if you weren't feeling pretty elated.

Victor: I just came here to give her a pep talk.

Nikki: Somehow, I think that might make things worse.

Victor: How did she take the news?

Nikki: Well, she's disappointed, of course, but she'll be alright. Actually, I'm much more concerned about you.

Victor: Why are you concerned about me?

Nikki: Because you have teamed up with a man who has caused you serious harm on more than one occasion. I don't understand why you would want to take that risk again.

Victor: Is that your way of saying congratulations or what?

Nikki: Okay, you make jokes. I'm just very concerned where that will lead.

Victor: And all I can tell you is that adam has learned from his experiences.

Nikki: Oh, god, where have i heard that before?

Victor: Are you forgetting that he had a very traumatic childhood? He carried all that self-loathing and shame with him for years.

Nikki: I have not forgotten. But do you really think that he has gotten past all of that?

Victor: Yes. Ever since he's remembered what happened to him, I think he's become more mature and stronger. You may not see that right now, but I assure you that he will show you that he has changed.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Well, thanks for sticking with me while I get my caffeine fix.

Victoria: Yeah. I should probably go soon.

Billy: Yeah. Before you go, I wanted to talk to you about katie real quick.

Victoria: Oh, really? What's going on with her?

Billy: Nothing. No, it's all good. It's just she's got a couple friends that are taking music lessons, and, you know, she's obsessed with the violin and the guitar, really anything with strings. So I just wanted to see how you feel about getting her an instrument.

Victoria: You don't really want my opinion on that.

Billy: Yeah, of course. I don't want to go get something --

Victoria: You're just trying to show me that, you know, things can just be like they were. Nothing has to change between us.

Billy: Well, there's no way i would have succeeded without you. Honestly, I would've screwed the whole thing up, so thanks for that. And you're kind of stuck with me as far as they're considered. Accomplishment I'm most proud

Victoria: That's very sweet of you to say. I'm fine, I really am. My ego doesn't need any more bolstering. So you can go now. Go, shoo.

Billy: Okay. (Clucking noises)

Adam: Oh, let's see...

Victoria: Adam.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Hello.

Victoria: I was just on my way out, but I wanted to congratulate you on your win.

Adam: Oh, thanks. Almost sounds like you mean that.

Victoria: Oh, I do, I do, just about as much as you meant it when you congratulated me on being ceo of newman enterprises. When you said -- what was it, something to effect that it was all for show and that dad would still have say on all the major decisions? You know, in retrospect, that's the truest thing you've ever said to me -- not that that means much. Because I have had to declare my independence to dad and let him know that I don't take direction from anyone -- not victor newman, not anybody.

Adam: Yes, it's quite the heroine's journey you've been on.

Victoria: Whereas, you have gone in the complete opposite direction. Total submission.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] I know it might seem that way from the outside.

Victoria: Is that where I am?

Adam: Then again, could be that you're just bitterly disappointed that ashland locke was so unimpressed with what you had to offer. Bottom line -- this is me, conjecturing about your pitch -- you didn't want it badly enough.

Victoria: Yes, because I'm not as desperate as you? Certainly true.

Adam: Oh, you were desperate. Just not for cyaxares. Yeah, I do find it touching how you have such a soft spot for billy, even after all the hell he's put you through. I mean, that is why you put in your own bid for locke's company. You knew billy didn't stand a chance of winning, and you wanted to protect him from what victor and I had in store. I mean, there's something really beautiful about that, in a pathetic sort of way.

Chloe: You go and enjoy your break, meredith. Chelsea and I are gonna have a nice long visit, catch up on all the gossip.

[ Chuckles ] Bye.

Chelsea: Oh, thank god. Oh, you don't know how excruciating it is to sit here, perfectly still, while everyone yammers at me.

Chloe: Everyone, meaning adam?

Chelsea: The situation is getting more intolerable by the hour.

Chloe: Oh, I love to hear you talk like that.

Chelsea: You love that I'm miserable and upset?

Chloe: [ Chuckles ] No. I'm just happy that you're finally over that jerk. Do you know how long I've been waiting for you to wake up and realize the truth about him?

Chelsea: Okay, you can tell me "I told you so" at a different time. Right now, I need you to do something for me.

Kyle: Thanks for making the detour.

Summer: Yeah, of course.

Kyle: I didn't want to discuss this at the hotel where sally might be hovering. When you came down, she was needling me about tara again.

Summer: Do you think she found out something new?

Kyle: No. Just trying to get a rise out of me.

Summer: Well, she's a jerk.

Kyle: Before I saw her, I ran into tara as she was checking out. She doesn't think ashland suspects anything, that he bought it when we acted like we'd never met.

Summer: Well, that's good. I mean, I know you were worried about that.

Kyle: She wants me to go on like that's really the case. Pretend our affair didn't happen and harrison doesn't exist.

Summer: Well, I mean, I'm happy to hear that, 'cause it's exactly what you wanted. Right?

Sally: I have a surprise for you.

Jack: Another one?

Sally: Feast your eyes. It will go perfect with your new jacket.

Jack: Wow, that is sharp.

Sally: You like it?

Jack: I like it very much. I assume this is another fenmore's sample.

Sally: Just a little something I found while I was out shopping. And before you say I shouldn't have, it is fun for me.

Jack: What, to upgrade my wardrobe?

Sally: [ Chuckles ] No, I love it when I find just the perfect gift for someone. It's my way of letting them know that I both appreciate them and see who they are.

Jack: Which in my case is a man who needs to change his style.

Sally: No, no, not at all. You're an impeccable dresser. I just was picking out pieces to expand your fashion horizons. And to be totally honest, I just love to shop.

Jack: Nothing wrong with that.

Sally: So if you do not accept it, I will be totally crushed. And then I would have to take it back to the store, which would probably result in me buying this totally impractical, extremely expensive dress that i somehow managed to talk myself out of last time, which would absolutely break my budget.

Jack: Well, we can't have that.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh.

Jack: Sorry for the distraction.

Sally: Was that lauren? I know she said that she might have to postpone your meeting this afternoon.

Jack: No, that was phyllis.

Sally: Ah.

Jack: Why do you say it that way?

Sally: She and I had another one of our "friendly chats," where she pretends to be nice but really isn'T. Usually, I have to puzzle together what she's saying between the lines, but today, she did not leave me guessing. She made it crystal clear that she disapproves.

Jack: Of you?

Sally: Of how much time I am spending with you.

Jack: Damn it, I told her to back off.

Sally: Hey, you know what? She's actually right for a change. You are absolutely out of my league. You are head and shoulders above every other man I have ever dated. And if I am supposed to feel guilty about that, I don'T. What's wrong with wanting nothing but the best?

Kyle: I haven't changed my mind. That little boy doesn't deserve to have his world blown apart, which is exactly what would happen if ashland learns the truth about his paternity.

Summer: Yeah, I mean, ashland doesn't really strike me as the forgive-and-forget kind of guy.

Kyle: You can say that again.

Summer: Hey, for what it's worth, I think that you're doing the right thing for the right reasons, even if it might not feel like it right now.

Kyle: Okay, ready to get back to the office?

Summer: Oh, no, hold on, hold on. There is something else that I've been wanting to get into with you, and, no, it cannot wait.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Okay, you have the floor.

Summer: Thank you. So I know that there are some things in our life that have been put on hold, and I'm thinking maybe it's time that we revisit that decision.

Kyle: [ Laughs ] Aren't you supposed to get down on one knee?

Summer: Oh, my god, that is not happening.

Kyle: Fine.

Summer: No.

Kyle: Doesn't matter. I accept your proposal.

Summer: It is not a proposal. It's just merely a suggestion that we get re-engaged.

Kyle: Suggestion accepted. I have another one.

Summer: Mm.

Kyle: Let's keep it quiet, take things slow. Rushing things last fall really screwed us up.

Summer: Okay, well, technically, that's two suggestions, but you're lucky that I am in favor of both.

Kyle: Well, it's a good thing we stopped in here. We need champagne to make it official.

Summer: Ooh.

Chloe: This task seems very vague and arbitrary. And how does it help you get away from adam?

Chelsea: You have to trust me, no questions asked. Please. There's no one else I can turn to, chloe. You're the last person I have in the world.

Chloe: Okay, okay, I'll do it, I'll do it.

Chelsea: You're a lifesaver.

Chloe: Just be careful, please.

Chelsea: I will. I promise. Ahh.
