Episode #12067 ~ Nikki puts Adam on notice. Chelsea sends mixed messages. Victoria comes clean with Billy.

Victoria: I guess it would just be easier to say that i didn't mean it...or that I'm just messing with your head, but I'm not gonna do that.

Billy: Because it's true?

[ Keys clacking ]

Traci: Hey!

Lily: Hi.

Traci: Hi. I hope now is not a bad time.

Lily: Oh, no, it's never a bad time for you.

Traci: Aww!

[ Both laugh ] Listen, I was wanting to update you on my trip to new york.

Lily: Oh, yeah, please. How'd it go?

Traci: It was fantastic. I found some wonderful writers with a wide range of perspectives for our short fiction platform.

Lily: Amazing. Congratulations.

Traci: And I want to tell and you billy all about it. Um, but where -- where is my brother anyway?

Lily: Uh, you know, um, I'm not really sure, but I think I have a pretty good idea.

Traci: Uh-oh. So, why don't you tell me about your idea?

Adam: Things are starting to turn around, chels, for me and for you, too. I can just feel it.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Oh, it's turning around, alright. If you only knew.

Adam: Dr. Cavett should be here soon for your session. I'm hoping by the end of it, she'll have some good news to report. I'm anticipating a lot of good news today. The meeting with ashland locke went really well, and I have to admit it felt good to have victor by my side. Ashland was impressed.

[ Mug thuds ] I could tell.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] We're back to this, you desperately trying to gain daddy's approval. I stood by, loved you, but i never replaced sharon in your heart. And I'm not going to try anymore. You're going to regret not appreciating me when you had the chance.

Sharon: Rey? Rey, can you hear me? I'm calling 911.

Rey: Oh, please don'T. I-I don't need an ambulance. Okay.

Sharon: [ Exhales sharply ] Thank god you're awake. Are you sure you're alright?

Rey: How long was I out?

Sharon: Just a few seconds.

Rey: Well, that's hardly an emergency. I just -- I just got a little lightheaded. It's okay. It's okay.

Sharon: Well, I think we should get you to the E.R. And have you checked out just in case.

Rey: You know, it's alright. I probably just caught a bug. It happens.

Sharon: It just came on so fast. I mean, I know you said that you were feeling dizzy earlier, but I didn't know how bad it was.

Rey: I was so upset after our session, but I doubt it gave me chills or made me nauseous.

[ Exhales heavily ] It's probably just a stomach flu or something I ate. I probably shouldn't have had those leftovers during lunch. Uh, probably might want to toss them before someone else makes the same mistake.

Sharon: Okay, well, I will. But have you ever blacked out from the flu before? I still think that we should call a doctor.

Rey: Just wait a little bit and see what happens.

Sharon: Okay. For now. You scared me half to death.

Rey: You're really worried about me.

Sharon: What, is that a surprise? Of course I am. You're my husband. I love you. I hate that you are not feeling well. I -- and I'm sorry.

Rey: That I caught a bug?

Sharon: About our earlier disagreement...and about everything. Pain hits fast.

Sharon: [ Chuckles ]

Rey: ...Vertical.

Sharon: No, you are looking a little bit better, but I think you need to rest.

Rey: Okay. I will call the station and tell them that I'm not coming in, and I'll do a whole bunch of nothing until this passes.

Sharon: Can I get you anything else?

Rey: You know, there is one thing I could use.

[ Clears throat ] Some of, uh, lola's miraculous cuban chicken soup. It's fixed everything that's ever been wrong with me.

Sharon: Okay, well, I'm gonna have that delivered. I don't want to leave you alone right now.

Rey: No, no, but you said you had to meet the coffee suppliers about late deliveries face-to-face.

Sharon: Oh, god. Okay, I'm gonna postpone that.

Rey: Sharon, it's a coffeehouse. Crimson lights can't run out of coffee, so go over there. Straighten this out.

Sharon: But I could just --

Rey: Hey. I will stay put and follow orders. Promise.

Sharon: Okay. But I'm gonna be back here as soon as I can.

[ Door closes ]

Rey: [ Grunts ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

Dr. Cavett: Adam, it's good to see you.

Adam: Doctor.

Dr. Cavett: Has there been any progress?

Adam: Uh, neither meredith or I have noticed any improvement. Of course, we don't have your expertise. Well, perhaps today is the day where she finally has a breakthrough.

Dr. Cavett: Well, chelsea, it's lovely to see you.

Adam: Alright, then. Well, I will leave you to it. Chels, I want you to work really hard with the doctor today. You know, we have so many plans to make, and our future can be everything we talked about. Just have to get you better.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Oh, please. You want me to stay immobile, powerless, so I can't get in the way of your affair with sharon.

[ Door closes ]

Dr. Cavett: Look at you. Your eyes are so bright and alert. It's wonderful.

[ Chuckles ] Well, let's see what you can do.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Okay, chelsea, showtime. If anyone will be able to figure out I'm faking, it's this doctor. I can't make a single mistake, or it's all over.

Traci: Lily, I don't want to pry, especially if you're not up to talking about it.

Lily: No, no, no, no. Honestly, I probably should talk about it before I drive myself crazy.

Traci: [ Chuckling ] Okay. Uh, why don't you tell me what's going on?

Lily: It's just -- it's victoria. It's like she's just always around. I feel like she's trying to worm her way back into billy's life. And before you say anything, i know they have kids, so I knew that she would be a presence, but she's just around all the time.

Traci: And you think she has ulterior motives?

Lily: I mean, it's the only thing that makes sense. It's like, she'll come here all the time to the office when she doesn't need to. She'll ask billy to come over, you know, to spend time with the kids and -- [ Sighs ] My god, I must sound like the most insanely jealous woman.

Traci: [ Laughs ] No, no.

Lily: But I'm telling you, this goes beyond co-parenting interactions. I mean, she's around all the time, in big ways and in small ways. And now she's taken it a step further.

Traci: What has she done?

Lily: Billy and I are trying to buy this media company. And at first, victoria had no interest in it and then all of a sudden she wants to enter the bidding and now we're in direct competition with her.

Traci: So, you think that, um, this is more than just a business deal for victoria and that she has changed her mind because of billy?

Lily: Yeah, I think that she's trying to stay on billy's mind. And it's working. I mean, in the middle of our pitch, he brings her up spontaneously, and then after, he says that he wants to stay back because he wants to talk to her before her pitch.

Traci: Talk to her about what?

Lily: He said that he wanted to let her know that he's feeling confident, you know? And then he comes back here, and I could clearly tell something was wrong. And he said that he had to go for a walk, and that was a very long time ago.

Traci: So, you think that maybe she said something to provoke him to come and see her.

Lily: [ Sighs ] I mean, maybe. I don't know. I don't know.

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: I mean, I could be wrong, but you know when your gut is just telling you there's something? It's like it's telling me that victoria is trying to find every opportunity to inject herself into billy's life. And I just feel like there's this unshakeable bond between them.

Traci: Well, lily, there is. Their children. And I'm sure you feel the same bond with cane.

Lily: Yeah, I know, but it's different. I mean, our kids are older. It doesn't require us to be in constant communication. I'm telling you, this is more than just a parenting thing with them -- or, at least, for victoria anyway.

Traci: Okay. Tell me exactly what you mean.

Lily: I just can't shake the suspicion that victoria doesn't want to let billy go.

Billy: How long have you felt this way?

Victoria: What difference does it make? That's irrelevant.

Billy: No, it's not irrelevant, not when you tell me something like that.

Victoria: The point is, it doesn't matter. I never should have mentioned it in the first place. That was a big mistake on my part. I'm sorry. I just lost control.

Billy: Well, there's no reason to apologize if you're telling the truth.

Victoria: Billy, I need you to understand something right now. I don't in any way expect you to return the sentiment. I know that you're committed to lily, and I don't intend to interfere in your relationship. Whatever my feelings are, they're just feelings, not actions, and...

Billy: Will you stop? Just, will you stop, please?

Victoria: ...I wish that word had never come out of my mouth. Billy, look, I just don't want this to affect anything between us.

Billy: I asked you, victoria. I asked you if you were fine with me moving on with lily. I asked if you really meant that you wanted me to find happiness because I thought that there was something going on with you.

Victoria: Ohh.

Billy: And you just kept telling me that you were fine. And now I find out that there actually was. There's something else going on.

Victoria: Look, can we just forget that I said anything? Please? I just want you to understand one thing, alright? I really care about you, and i really just want what's best for you. I hope you believe me.

Feeling sluggish or weighed

Billy: I do believe you. We want what's best for each other, but, victoria --

Victoria: Great. That's great. So, can we just pretend like this conversation never happened? We both have companies to run. I need to get back to mine. I'm sure you need to do the same -- while we wait to find out who won the -- the bid for cyaxares.

Billy: We need to talk about this. Okay, I understand what you're doing, but it's not that simple. We have history. We have children, okay? We can't just pretend that this [Sighs] -- That you didn't just say that.

Victoria: Well, that's what I'm planning to do, and i suggest that you do the same.

Billy: Come on, vick.

Victoria: Please just...

[ Sighs ] Can you go?

[ Sighs heavily ]

Traci: It's only natural to feel some sort of friction between you and victoria. I mean, the whole situation breeds insecurity and, well, maybe even a little jealousy from both sides.

Lily: So, you think I'm overreacting?

Traci: No, I didn't say that. I just mean that it's natural to -- to feel threatened by a previous relationship, no matter how hard you try to not. You're just human, right?

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, well, I'm feeling very human right now.

Traci: Well, stop being so concerned about whether victoria is having trouble letting billy go and start focusing on what's really important.

Lily: Which is what?

Traci: What does he want? And how do you feel? I mean, has he stopped being attentive or affectionate?

Lily: No. I mean, it's actually the opposite. He's very attentive and sweet and romantic.

Traci: Well, there you go. See?

Lily: But he also thinks that victoria's constant interruptions are no big deal, even though I'm sure there's something more behind them.

Traci: Have you tried to talking to billy about this?

Lily: Yeah, I've tried.

Traci: Honestly? Directly? Is he aware how much this deeply upsets you?

Lily: [ Sighs ] I mean, no.

Traci: Okay. Alright. That's it then. Don't hesitate anymore. Don't hold anything back. Lily, no relationship can survive unless it's based on complete honesty and trust.

Lola: Sharon, hi. What brings you by?

Sharon: Um, I'm sorry to stop by unexpected, but I need to ask you for a favor.

Lola: Sure. Anything.

Sharon: Rey's feeling pretty under the weather. It's a stomach bug or something. But there's only one remedy he will even consider.

Lola: My chicken soup.

Sharon: He swears by it, says that it cures all ails and he always feels better no matter what's wrong.

Lola: Well, lucky for him, i just made a fresh batch. It'll be ready soon.

Sharon: Great. Um, while I wait, I would like to thank you.

Lola: Thank me for what?

Sharon: For your support and kindness to faith. And also for being instrumental in finding that kid that took the unfortunate photo that was used to bully my daughter.

Lola: Of course. It was no problem at all. You know, faith is a real sweetheart. I've really learned to care a lot about her. And we're family now, right? You know, sometimes only family can ask.

Sharon: Go ahead. I'm sure you have a lot to say about what's going on between me and rey.

Lola: Actually, I'm more worried about what's going on between you and adam.

Adam: I was surprised to get your text. Can't remember the last time i heard from you directly.

Nikki: To be perfectly honest, I wish I didn't have a reason to reach out to you. But I think the time has come for us to have a little chat, one on one. This year... let's bring. On. Spring.

Nikki: I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when i learned that victor had thrown his financial and personal weight behind you to make that deal with ashland locke.

Adam: Yes, I have no doubt you were not pleased to find out victor and I were competing against victoria. But I'm sure I don't need to remind you the only reason that victor and I are working together is because victoria passed on the opportunity in the first place.

Nikki: Actually, I -- I think you misunderstand me. I'm not thrilled that my daughter and husband are on opposite sides of this battle, but at the moment I am more concerned about this cozy new working relationship you have with victor.

Adam: Then maybe you should take that up with him. He came to me, not the other way around.

Nikki: That's because he can't help himself.

Adam: [ Laughing ] Okay. The very idea that victor isn't in control of everything that he feels and does is just -- well, it's laughable.

Nikki: I suggest you stop dancing around the truth. Despite the hell that you have put him through, victor still is hoping to forge a bond with you. He wants to believe that he matters do you as a father.

Adam: He does matter to me. And I know that might be hard for you to understand, but it is the truth, okay? After chelsea had her stroke, he was there for us. He did everything he could to help...even when the rest of my so-called family turned their back on me.

Nikki: [ Scoffs ] Well, what else could you have expected after everything you have done?

Adam: Okay. I will acknowledge that you all were justified in turning your back on me. And that's what makes it even more meaningful that victor reached out and he was there for us. And then on top of that, he came to me with this business opportunity, and that was just what I needed to get my head back into the game.

Nikki: Don't you think you should be focusing your attention on chelsea right now?

Adam: Of course chelsea and connor are my top priority, but I need some purpose beyond that, something I'm good at, something that'll bring me a little joy, running a company, and that will make me a better father and husband.

Nikki: If you get the job. Personally, my money is on victoria.

Adam: Okay, well, only time will tell.

Nikki: Regardless of how all of that plays out, my concern remains the same. Victor may think you are being sincere with this latest show of unity. But you've pulled the rug out from under him before.

Adam: That is not going to happen this time.

Nikki: Let's be very clear. I will never trust you. I will never forget or forgive all of the anguish that you caused for my husband, my children, my grandchildren. And I will not tolerate you wreaking any more havoc on my family.

Adam: Is that supposed to be some sort of threat?

Nikki: It's a warning. Now, whether you end up running that media company or not, i strongly suggest that you stick with your original plan.

Adam: And exactly which plan is that?

Nikki: When chelsea is able, leave town. Start fresh far, far away from all the pain and ugliness that you caused here. Just be with your son and don't come back. And I have no doubt chelsea would agree.

Lola: Look, sharon, you know how protective I am over my older brother. And the last thing I want to do is make things worse between the two of you. But I hate seeing him hurt, and I hate that adam is still a factor in your relationship. Still, I do believe that you love rey.

Sharon: With all my heart. It hasn't changed now, and it never will. It's just... the situation with adam is so complicated.

Lola: Well, I am rooting for you and rey. And I hope that you see what you have in my big brother because he's willing to fight and work for your marriage. Are you?

Sharon: I promise you that I am. I agreed to couples counseling. In fact, we had our first session this afternoon. It got off to a rocky start, but, I mean, that's probably to be expected. It's just hard holding up that mirror and facing what's deep inside.

Lola: The point is, is that you're putting the time and effort. And what matters is where you end up, right?

Sharon: Right. That's what matters. I'm gonna let you get back to work. Um, lola, thanks for being so understanding.

Lola: [ Sighs ]

Lily: Yeah, you're right. It's not gonna be easy, though.

Traci: No. Conversations about sensitive topics rarely are.

Billy: Traci. What a nice surprise.

Traci: Ah, hello!

[ Chuckles ] Lily and I were just catching up on a few things, um, but I have to go now. So, I'm going to e-mail you that list of the cvs and bios of all the writers we were talking about, plus my notes about each of them individually, and then we'll circle back around. Why don't you give me a call when you've had a chance to look everything over, okay?

Lily: Yeah, absolutely.

Traci: And you -- I'm so glad to see you.

Billy: It's good to see you, too.

Traci: Okay. Bye.

Lily: Bye.

Billy: Bye.

Lily: I'm, uh, glad you made it back. I was starting to wonder.

Billy: Yeah, I guess I was gone a little bit longer than i expected. I ended up seeing victoria. I simply planned on going for a walk, and then I found myself at her office.

Lily: Yeah, I figured that happened.

Billy: She said something to me before she went to pitch, and I needed to follow up on it.

Lily: I'm not surprised.

Billy: Look, there's a few things that I need to explain.

Lily: Good. There's a lot I'd like to say, too, 'cause I know that we've discussed victoria before, but we need to have a serious conversation about what's really going on with her.

Billy: We do, and it's actually a little more complicated than I thought.

Adam: Sharon. I, uh, just dropped in for a drink while the doctor works with chelsea. Do you, um -- you got a moment to sit with me?

Sharon: Uh, no, I'm sorry. I got to get home.

Adam: Could you just -- one minute. Please? Okay? Look, I hope that you know that I didn't steal those things from your house, okay? I gave them to you. Why would I want them back? Have you even considered asking rey about it, like I suggested?

Sharon: No, I -- I didn't think that I needed to ask him. I mean, rey is just not that petty.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] But you have no problem believing that i am. Okay. Well, just forget I suggested it then.

Sharon: Done.

Adam: How is, uh, faith?

Sharon: Wow, you really -- you really want to push all my buttons today, don't you?

Adam: Wow, it's just -- it's gotten to the point where everything that I say and do just annoys you, no matter how honest and sincere that I'm trying to be.

Sharon: No, you don't understand, adam. You -- [ Sighs ] You mess up my life even when you don't intend to.

Adam: You know that that is the last thing that I would want to do.

Sharon: It's okay. Just...save it. I -- I got to go.

[ Knock on door ]

Nikki: Pardon me, but does the ceo have a moment for the coo?

Victoria: Is there something I can do for you, mom?

Nikki: Well, you were supposed to forward me those real-estate contracts.

Victoria: What contracts?

Nikki: For the schneider deal we're about to close on?

Victoria: Sorry. I completely forgot.

Nikki: Are you alright? You're very distracted.

Victoria: I'm fine. Really.

Nikki: Have you heard back from ashland locke yet?

Victoria: Nope, not a word.

Nikki: Are you having doubts about your pitch?

Victoria: No, I am feeling very confident about it. Okay, I sent you all the information that you're looking for. I'm sorry for the delay. I would have sent it earlier, but billy stopped by.

Nikki: [ Inhales sharply ] Oh, well, that's what happened. What did he do this time?

Victoria: [ Scoffs ] He didn't do anything.

Nikki: Oh, oh, we're being literal now. Okay. I can play that game. What exactly happened between the two of you?

Lily: So, just how complicated did it get between you and victoria?

Billy: [ Sighs ] Before she went to pitch ashland, she told me the reason why she's going after cyaxares is to protect me.

Lily: From what?

Billy: Well, she didn't tell me at first. And you know me. I needed to find the answer, so...

Lily: [ Sighs ] Okay. And?

Billy: She wanted to stop adam and victor from getting the company because she knows that they would turn around and use it against me. And she would assume that i would retaliate, and she's trying to stop world war whatever number we're on from breaking out.

Lily: I mean, yeah, I guess it's a real concern, given everything she's been through with you all, that she would want to try to stop the train wreck.

Billy: Yeah. Makes a lot more sense when you say it like that. But to me...I was insulted. It made me feel like she believes that I haven't changed at all, like I'm still the same guy I was before.

Lily: Yeah, I mean, she wants to protect the father of her children and protect her kids from any fallout.

Billy: Yeah. Um, it turns out it's a little more than that.

Lily: As in, she has more reasons, or she sees you as more? When eye allergens attack, the itch can last 24 hours.

Dr. Cavett: I'm sorry that things didn't go as well as we'd hoped. I know this is frustrating for you, but please be patient. As I told you when we began this process, there are no set timetables for a recovery such as this.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] If you only knew.

Dr. Cavett: I wish I could wait for adam. I thought he'd be back by now. But I have another appointment. I'll call him later with the results. Would you like me to get meredith for you? I understand. You'd like some time alone. I'll see you later.

[ Door closes ]

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Damn, I'm good.

Chelsea: [ Exhaling heavily ]

[ Groaning lightly ]

Sharon: Rey?

[ Cellphone pings ]

[ Keys clatter ]

Rey: [ Groans lightly ] You look upset. Something wrong?

Sharon: I was just worried about you. I got your soup. Lola says you better get well soon.

Rey: You and my sister are life-savers.

Sharon: You look a little paler than when I left. Are you feeling better or worse?

Rey: Still nauseous -- and the chills. Um, I got body aches. I'm feeling -- I'm feeling a little feverish.

Sharon: I think you should go upstairs and lie down a minute.

Rey: You know, let me try the soup first. Like I said, it's usually a cure-all.

Sharon: Okay. I know you think it's this magic elixir. I will heat some up. I'll be right back.

Rey: Thank you.

[ Exhales heavily ]

Victoria: Look, if you really must know, billy came by to discuss why I threw my hat in the ring for cyaxares. I told him the same thing I told you -- I did it to protect him from dad and adam.

Nikki: Hmm. I doubt that was enough to satisfy him. He probably wanted to know why you went to such lengths.

Victoria: That is exactly what he wanted to know.

Nikki: What did you tell him? Because I had my theory, but you promptly shot it down.

Victoria: I said more than i intended to say. Sometimes old feelings bubble up at the worst possible time. But, um, it's not gonna happen again because feelings are -- they're manageable.

Nikki: Darling, even when you know you're doing the right thing, it can be very difficult.

Victoria: Mom, would you please just spare me the sympathy? It's a non-issue. Billy and I are friends and we're co-parents and that's where it ends. And there's nothing else that needs to be said about it.

Lily: This is exactly why i want to talk about victoria -- because I knew there was more to how she felt about you.

Billy: I'm sorry. Your instincts were right on, and I should have trusted you.

Lily: Yeah, thank you for acknowledging that.

Billy: Look, clearly it was obvious to you, but I didn't see it. I really thought that she was done with me, romantically speaking.

[ Sighs ] But she admitted that she's still in love with me.

Lily: Uh, okay.

[ Scoffs ] I was prepared to hear that she has feelings for you. She said that she's in love with you?

Billy: She didn't mean to say it.

Lily: Really?

Billy: Yeah. I was pressing her for answers, and she kind of blurted it out. I could tell that she was embarrassed by it, and she told me just to forget about it, but she also said that she knows how much I care about you and she doesn't want what she said to change anything.

Lily: And you believed her?

Nikki: Before we table this, I have something more I want to say. You are a strong, powerful, independent woman. But that doesn't mean you have to build a fortress around yourself.

Victoria: That's not what I'm doing.

Nikki: Honey, just listen to me for a minute. As long as you're going in the right direction, it's okay to look back over your shoulder.

Victoria: Thank you, mom. I'll take that under consideration.

Nikki: Okay. I'll see you later.

[ Keys clacking ]

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Yes, I do believe victoria. I really don't think that she wants or believes that what she said is gonna change anything. And to be honest, it doesn't matter, lily, because I don't feel the same way, okay? She's in my past. I love you, and nothing is gonna come between us.

Lily: Well, except maybe you.

Billy: I'm sorry. What -- what does that mean exactly?

Lily: Look, I -- [ Sighs ] I'm sure you were blindsided by what victoria said, and that probably brought up a lot of emotions, which of course it would. I'm just wondering if maybe part of the reason why you felt the need to run down here and declare your love for me is maybe because you're not sure.

Billy: Come on. I love you. I think you're brilliant. You're insightful. I adore you. And I know my head and I know my heart and my heart belongs to you.

Lily: Billy, I'm not saying that I know you better than you know yourself. But I've been here before. I gave cane a million chances, and it's because of our history and our kids...and because i know that real love -- it may change, but it never dies.

Billy: You can't compare what you had with cane to this. It's different.

Lily: Look, I'm just telling you to maybe just take some time to do some soul searching and maybe figure out how you really feel before we get in any deeper.

Sharon: Rey?

Rey: I'm in the thick of it now. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

Sharon: You seem to be getting worse by the minute. I think this is more than a stomach bug. I'm afraid something is seriously wrong.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] What's happening? I was sure sharon would reply immediately to the love of her life.

[ Lock disengages ]

Chelsea: [ Groans lightly ]

[ Door opens ]

Adam: Hey, chels. How you feeling?

[ Keys clatter ] I, um... I spoke to dr. Cavett. She told me there wasn't much progress. But I don't want you to give up because we're gonna beat this thing.

Chelsea: [ Thinking ] I've beat this already. Next I'm going to beat you.
