Episode #12052 ~ Sharon makes a shocking discovery. Kyle is haunted by a secret. Devon's loyalty is tested.

Abby: [ Sighs ] I know. I'm the worst. I've been meaning to call you for ages.

Devon: [ Chuckles ] It's fine. Mariah told me you've got a lot on your plate.

Abby: Yeah, yeah, that's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. Um...unless she already filled you in.

Devon: She did. Yeah, she did 'cause she cares about you.

Abby: We were thrilled when she agreed to do it. It means so much to us to have someone who's already a part of the fabric of our lives carry our baby. And then we found out that chance wasn't gonna be able to be the biological father, but, um, she still agreed to do it. Yeah, it was supposed to be the three of us.

Devon: I know. How are you doing?

Abby: Now, this wasn't what i envisioned when we talked about starting a family. And I guess those expectations are hard to let go of, you know?

Devon: I think I do. Yeah.

Abby: And chance is out there -- I don't know where. And I know it's important because he wouldn't agree to do it otherwise, but, yeah, it's hard enough to pick an anonymous sperm donor. And then now that chance is gone, I mean, is -- is this something I should even be doing right now?

Devon: It's a very intimidating process -- 'cause i watched hilary go through it.

Abby: And in the end, she had you.

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: I just wish, um...

Devon: It's okay, abby. You don't have to shut down for me.

Abby: Um, you [Laughs] Are a great friend. Thank you. But I am -- I'm gonna go wallow a little bit.

Sharon: I guess you've heard.

Summer: Yeah. My dad told me that faith got suspended from school, and she said that some kids planted a bottle of vodka in her locker? I can't believe it.It.

Sharon: I can't, either.

Summer: No, I just mean that I can't believe th kids --

rey: There's an older girl at scs been drinking with.

Summer: Do you mind if I just I mean, maybe I could get some clarity on the situation, see if she's really telling the truth, you know?

Faith: I am. Maybe you'll be the one person who believes me.

Sally: Kyle. How's it going?

Kyle: Sally.

Sally: No rest for the weary, right? Or is it the wicked? I always forget. Hello, mariah. How's it going? Are you enjoying running jabot's marketing department?

Amanda: Yeah. Infertility is one of those things that you never think will happen to you.

Devon: And I remember her talking about how wants to have three kids and saying how special it's gonna be because they're all gonna be part newman, chancellor, and abbott.

Amanda: Born into genoa city's elite.

Devon: And then she goes and finds out that she can't even carry a child. I know that felt like just all her dreams were taken away from her. Makes me think of hilary, our child. I'm sorry.

Amanda: No, don'T. Don't be sorry. Don't ever apologize for being human.

Abby: I ran into devon while I was getting a coffee, and he made me realize that I'm ready to find a donor.

Nina: Ooh! Good. I'm so glad. Chance is gonna love this child with all his heart.

Abby: When he gets home.

Nina: It may not be as long as you think.

Abby: You don't know that. And neither do I. I mean, every day I think, "maybe chance will be home next week and I should wait for him to make this decision." And then I geterstitious, and I think, "well, the sooner that mariah gets pregnant, the sooner he'll come back to me."

Nina: Abby, you can do this, okay? But don't do it for me and even for chance. Only do it if it's what you want.

Abby: I do, more than anything. So, now let's look at donor 12052.

Nina: Okay.

Abby: He's healthy, he looks kind, and, well, that baby picture of him is pretty adorable.

Nina: It's so cute. But, you know, you don't have to rush this.

Abby: I'm ready for this, and I think chance would agree.

[ Inhales sharply ] Ylothing going on between sally and me.

Mariah: Okay. Then how come she waltzed out of here like she won the lottery and you look like this?

Kyle: I'm fine.

Mariah: Kyle, I have known you too long for me to buy that, so should I just start jumping to ridiculous conclusions?

Kyle: I can't talk about it.

Mariah: Not even to me? Kyle, I might not be able to solve whatever problem it is you're having, but telling somebody might make you feel better because [Sighs] Right now you look downright haunted.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Okay, you can never tell anyone what I'm about to tell you.

Mariah: I promise.

Kyle: Swear to me.

Mariah: Kyle --

Kyle: Not tessa, not summer.

Mariah: Okay. I -- I swear. You're kind of starting to scare me.

Kyle: Have a seat.

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ] Remember a few years ago when i moved to new york?

Mariah: Yeah, of course.

Kyle: I was hanging out with theo, trying to get over summer. One night I went to this party in the hamptons, and I met a woman -- tara locke. We spent the rest of the summer together. She was beautiful and fun... and married. Her husband is a guy named ashland locke, and he's very powerful, very ruthless.

Mariah: Did he find out about the two of you?

Kyle: No, thank gbut a couple days ago, theo slipped into town, rd it in my face in front of sally, giving her information she could use to hold over me.

Mariah: You had an affair? I mean, it's kind of scandalous, but is it really that big of a deal?

Kyle: There's more... the part that summer doesn't know.

Mariah: Okay.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Tara has a son.

Mariah: How old is he?

Kyle: 3 years old.

Mariah: Oh, god.

Kyle: The timing is right, and theo says he looks just like me.

Mariah: [ Sighs ]

Kyle: I'm hoping like hell it isn't true, but if it is and ashland finds out about it...

Mariah: Kyle, if this is true, it means you're a father. How do you feel about that? Some people have joint pain,

Kyle: There's no point worrying about my feelings until I find out if the kid is mine.

Mariah: Have you spoken to this tara woman yet?

Kyle: Yeah, I left her a voicemail. She texted me back -- "you've made a mistake. Don't ever contact me again."

Mariah: Well, that's not really a surprising response. What if she's lying?

Kyle: And, what, she's trying to protect me, her kid, and herself?

Mariah: Would you want to be a part of your son's life?

Kyle: Are you kidding? You're talking like I have a choice, like this is a completely normal situation where tara and I would work out some sort of custody agreement where I could spend time with the child, watch him grow up. No, no, no, this is a completely abnormal, extra screwed-up state of affairs because of ashland. They call him "the lock ness monster" because when he destroys his opponents, he make sure there's no coming back from it. The last guy I heard about lost his wife, lost his company, all of his assets, his reputation, and that was just about business. Could you imagine what a guy like ashland would do if he finds the man who had an affair with his wife and learns that the kid he's been raising isn't his son?

Mariah: Less than ideal?

Kyle: Yeah. There would be no happy addition to the abbott family, no holiday visits or father/son bonding time because if the truth comes out, I'd be inviting chaos and destruction into my life and the child'S.

Sally: Hello.

Phyllis: How can I help you?

Sally: Well, remember that promotion that I told you I'd gotten at work the other day?

Phyllis: It's vague. I don't know.

Sally: Well, I figured i would treat myself to upgrading to a larger suite.

Phyllis: Okay. Let me see. Oh, yeah, we don't have anything. I'll put you on the waiting list.

Sally: You don't like me, do you?

[ Cellphone thuds ]

Phyllis: I really don't think about you.

Sally: Is it because your daughter and I got off on the wrong foot?

Phyllis: My daughter can handle her own situations.

Sally: Yeah, well, she doesn't have to. We both had a heart-to-heart, and we smoothed things out between us. So we are no longer enemies. In fact, we might actually be on our way to becoming friends.

Phyllis: Mm, how did this meeting of the minds happen?

Sally: Well, we realized that we have a lot in common. We really are a lot alike.

Jack: Hello there!

Sally: Jack. So we meet again.

Summer: So...dad tells me that there's some girls at school who've been giving you trouble?

Faith: Understatement.

Summer: So, did it start when you came home from boarding school?

Faith: [ Sighs ] When that story about adam came out.

Summer: Why? What happened?

Faith: [ Sighs ] Well...there's this clique.

Summer: Mm, the popular girls?

Faith: And mean. They did the math and figured i was the baby he'd stolen. They started posting about it online and created a group chat. It got to the point where every time I would get a text or a notification from one of my accounts, it would make me sick to my stomach.

Summer: Yeah. No, I know how much it hurts to be singled out like that.

Faith: Uh, you know because it happened to you?

Summer: No, um... because I was a bully. In high school, I singled out a boy online.

Faith: Wait. You? Why?

Summer: Because I was a jerk. But I spent time with him and i got to know him and I realized how much it hurt him and -- faith, I wish I could take it back. I do. I just... I feel so bad that you're dealing with this right now, at the same time as your mom having cancer and getting a new stepdad. I just wish you would have come to me with this.

Faith: You couldn't have helped.

Summer: I could have tried if you talked to me. So talk to me now. Come on. There is no judgment here. I promise you.

Faith: I swear. I'm telling the truth. Somebody put that bottle of vodka in my locker.

Summer: Okay, well, do you have any idea who could have done it?

Faith: I don't know. But it had to have been someone who found out I was drinking.

Summer: Another thing I wish you would have just come to me about.

Faith: Look, I don't have a problem. I drank a couple times. And I felt horrible after. I was with my friend, jordan.

Summer: I remember meeting jordan.

Faith: Yeah. She's my only friend. And I didn't want to lose her. So I went along with it. What else was I supposed to do? Sit alone in my room and cry?

Summer: Okay, faith, but, look, if she's really your friend, then she shouldn't be pressuring you to drink.

Faith: Yeah, that's one of the things that the adults say. But it doesn't actually work like that. I mean, do you have any idea what it's like, after everyone has tu on you, to have someone older and cooler think you're cool, too?

Summer: All too well, yeah.

Amanda: You know, one of the first things I learned about you was how selfless and generous you are. I mean, I am still blown away by the empathy that you're showing for abby.

Devon: 'Cause I understand, you know? I really -- I really get why she's a little ambivalent about finding an anonymous sperm donor 'cause I watched hilary have the exact same concerns when she was thinking about having a kid.

Amanda: Well, at least these options exist.

Devon: Yeah. I know. And that's what abby keeps saying.

Amanda: And they're gonna be incredible parents. That child is gonna be so loved.

Devon: And wanted.

Amanda: That makes all the difference.

Devon: I think that's why it's so important to me to see abby and chance have this opportunity any I'm so invested in seeing their success -- 'cause it's gonna feel like a win. It'll feel like a win for all of us that weren't soky.

Abby: I have to admit, this is pretty exciting.

Nina: Well, now that you have zeroed in on our dear friend 12052... y: I just have to click on the storage and purchase agreement and then print out a signature authorization, get my doctor to sign it, and then we're done.

Nina: [ Chuckles ] Okay. You ready?

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Nina: [ Giggles ]

Abby: I feel like there should be bells and whistles and confetti.

Nina: Yeah, right? It seems only fair. Abby, what's wrong?

Abby: [ Sighs ] Come at me! Come at me, bro!.

Sharon: If anyone can get faith to open up and be honest, it's summer. You know, she's made some bad choices and mistakes, but look at her now. She's running jcv.

Rey: Yeah. I hope summer can get through to her. Faith is a special kid.

Sharon: Yeah. I agree. Of course I'm biased.

Rey: I love her like my own. I only want what's best for her, no matter what happens.

Sharon: No matter what happens?

Rey: It was part of my wedding vows, to be there for her in any way that I could. I meant it.

Sharon: Well, if you're insinuating that I'm not taking my vows to you to heart --

Rey: I know you meant what you said, in the moment, without adam being there to exert his influence over you.

Sharon: Adam doesn't control me. No one does. I made my own choice. I married you. I don't want adam.

Rey: It's not enough to just say the words, sharon. God knows I've heard them before. But you're actions tell a different story. You know, the fact that you've still kept a toehold in adam's world tells me that you haven't chosen, not completely. Now, look, I'm not ready to give up on this marriage, but I meant what I said before. There is no future for us if you continue to allow adam to be part of your life.

Sharon: I told you -- he isn't anymore.

Rey: I hope to god you have the strength to -- to stay away from him this time because adam has no conscience, no morals, and he's just gonna try to continue to bring you back into hi

Sharon: Okay, you'r overreacting.

Rey: And I'm not the only one paying for it. Faith is, too. Your daughter needs you.

Abby: Yes, I understand. I will. Thank you.

Nina: What did the lab say? I mean, why did that message come up about the donor not being available any longer?

Abby: Well, apparently everyone was as charmed by 12052 as we were and he's already been used by 10 families and that's their cutoff.

Nina: Why would they -- I guess, yeah, your child would already have nine half-siblings in the world.

Abby: But they could be anywhere in the world. It's not like they're all in genoa city.

Nina: Yeah, I know, but... oh, sweetie, I know you had your heart set on this donor, but there's got to be more than one perfect donor.

Abby: Well, I can always go with my fallback plan and just close my eyes and pick some random donor.

Nina: [ Laughs ] A perfectly legitimate option.

Abby: Even for a control freak like me who's already having a problem with this whole process?

Nina: Okay, how about this? We go for a walk, we recharge, we come back, and we look at some profiles and we find someone even better than the last guy?

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Sally: That saying where success doesn't mean anything unless you have someone to share it with?

Jack: Yeah, I know about that.

Sally: Well, that has never meant more to me than it did when I got my promotion. If I hadn't had you to celebrate with the other day --

Jack: Twice.

Sally: You're right. We did meet again.

Jack: That was fun.

Sally: It was more than that. And, really, please do not underestimate how much your words of encouragement and good advice mean to someone like me.

Jack: My belief in you was not misplaced. This promotion only proves that.

Sally: Well, promise me that you will not forget one very important thing.

Jack: What's that?

Sally: Next time, the drinks are on you.

Jack: [ Chuckles ] It's a deal.

Sally: Alright, I better run. I just came by to grab something from my room before getting back to the office, where I am loving my new job.

Jack: [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: Hey. We need to talk.

Jack: About?

Phyllis: That.

Mariah: Sally has a lot of leverage on you.

Kyle: But summer and I have dirt on her, too. We found out some stuff about her past when we were in los angeles that she's desperate to keep quiet.

Mariah: Well, if sally keeps her mouth closed, I know you will because if anyone ever found out what you did --

Kyle: Game over.

Mariah: So the smartest thing to do is just...let it go.

Kyle: I know.

Mariah: But...?

Kyle: Till now, I hadn't let myself really consider the possibility it could be true. I might have a kid out there, a son.

Mariah: And if you do, it could be a life-changer.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Even though I'm keeping that possibility a secret from summer and the wisest course of action would be to avoid locke's reach and temper, I'm still curious. I mean, the thought of being a dad is weird, but I don't hate it.

Mariah: I get it. Family means everything to you. And despite all evidence to the contrary, you are a good guy, kyle.

Kyle: Hmm. I don't feel like one.

Mariah: Man. This is surreal. I'm trying to help abby and chance have a baby, and you might have a son out there that you weren't even trying for.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Kyle: Everything okay?

Mariah: Uh...yeah, possibly. Do you mind if I take off? I promise I'll get that report in by midnight.

Kyle: Sure. No problem.

Mariah: Okay. Hey, listen...I know that i promised I wouldn't say anything to summer.

Kyle: And I appreciate it.

Mariah: Secrets like that can wreck a relationship. And summer's gonna know something's up with you.

[ Door closes ]

Reese's eggs are back

and we hid them

Sharon: I am looking out for faith. How could you even question my commitment to her?

Rey: Because what it does to faith just being in the same room with adam. You know what this has done to her life, to her confidence. You know, when that exposé came out, it rocked her to her core, learning all those things that adam did when she was a baby. And yet you still allowed him to be part of your life. You let him hold your hand, sharon. Do you have any idea what that would have done to faith if she had seen you like that?

Sharon: I told adam I can't work with chelsea anymore. I did what you wanted.

Rey: Which leaves me wondering what you want and if you ever will truly be able to break free from adam.

[ Door opens ]

Sharon: Hey. You're back.

Rey: Uh, how's it going?

Faith: Better.

Summer: Yeah, we, um -- we had a good talk. Really good. You know, faith told me what happened, and I believe her. I mean, these girls are just taking bullying to a whole other level. Look, you guys, whatever faith has done in the past and whatever you guys are working through, this is something totally separate.

Rey: Well, the question is, how do we prove someone set her up? How do we get faith back into school?

Summer: Well, uh, you're a cop. That is your territory, and I'm gonna leave that up to you because, sadly, I have to go back to work.

Faith: Thank you so much, summer.

Summer: Yeah. Of course. I mean, what are sisters for, right? You have my number, so use it. And you're never alone, faith, not with me around, okay?

Faith: Okay. I love you.

Summer: I love you.

Sharon: Bye.

Summer: Bye.

Faith: I'll be in my room if you need me.

Sharon: How am I supposed to prove to you that adam isn't an issue anymore, other than swear to you that he isn't? I'm asking you -- please believe me.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Abby: You expecting someone?

Nina: No. You?

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Nina: Devon, hi!

Devon: Hey. How you doing? I'm sorry to just stop by like this. I hope it's not a bad time.

Nina: No, don't be silly. Come on in.

Devon: Okay. Thank you.

Nina: Sure.

Mariah: Knock, knock!

Nina: Oh.

Mariah: Hi.

Nina: Hi. Mariah. What brings you by?

Mariah: Um, devon asked me to come by.

Nina: Oh.

Phyllis: Um, jack, you need to watch your back around that girl, honestly. I mean, really, the way she was talking to you...

Phyllis: Uh, okay, well, clearly she has an agenda.

Jack: No. She is ambitious. There is nothing wrong with that.

Phyllis: Well, what she pulled with summer or is pulling with summer, I need to get to the bottom of it. Ac happen to know that she and summer are working out their differences. I wish you and everybody else would cut her some slack.

Phyllis: Okay, well, everybody else seems to have a problem with her. Shouldn't that tell you something?

Jack: Would it kill to you to give her the benefit of the doubt?

Phyllis: She's trouble.

Jack: Where's your proof? Where's your proof? Yes, she has a past. Yes, she's made mistakes. Haven't we all? Look, she came to genoa city for a fresh start. You of all people should know what that feels like. So should summer. So should kyle.

Phyllis: Yeah, okay. So, how do you explain her meteoric rise at fenmore's?

Jack: It was hardly a meteoric rise. She was promoted to a junior executive position. Look, she came to town with lots of past success, agreed to start at the bottom. She earned her way back. I think that's admirable.

Phyllis: Right. I really love how you like to see the good in people. I really love that about you. But in this case, jack, no, no.

Jack: Would it kill you to stop treating her like an outsider, like a threat? Give her a chance.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Hey, you! Not so fast!

Sally: Did a bigger suite become available?

Phyllis: Cut the crap.

Sally: Excuse me?

Phyllis: Listen. You may have other people fooled by this wide-eyed, innocent, working-girl thing you got going on, but I know better.

Sally: It's a shame that you are incapable of seeing the good in people.

Phyllis: I know what you're up to.

Sally: I am not up to anything except for trying to live my best life.

Phyllis: No, I know what u're up to. I know y I wrote the book.

Sally: Good to know. I'll be more discreet. Shh.

Summer: Kyle? Hey. What were you thinking about?

Kyle: Trying to figure out what to do.

Summer: About sally?

Kyle: Yeah.

Summer: Okay, well, I thought we said that we weren't gonna do anything, that we have a mutually assured destruction. We have a détente here because if sally goes public with your affair or if we go to jack and lauren about what she did in L.A., Then nobody wins. So I thought we were just gonna go on with our lives. What changed? Did something else happen that I don't know about?

Jack: Oh, good. You're here.

Kyle: We've got a meeting.

J everything alright?

Kyle: Yeah. Of course.

Summer: Yeah. Yeah, um... we'll talk later

[ Door closes ]

[ Cellphone pings ]

Rey: I would like nothing more than to believe you, to be able to take you at your word when you say that you're gonna cut ties with adam, that yoe how much damage he will continue to cause, sharon, but we have been down this road over and over again.

Sharon: No, this is different.

Rey: How? I believed you when you told me that I was your priority, that your family and our relationship meant more to you than adam does. But then you're right back at his side when he needs you because no one understands adam the way that you do, who can solve his problems or chelsea'sissues.

Sharon: He thought I could help chelsea.

Rey: He convinced you that you are the best therapist to help her, to -- to provoke her back into recovery because chelsea despises your relationship as much as I do. And you can dress that up as some textbook treatment if you want --

Sharon: Well, it is, actually, a textbook treatment.

Rey: Yeah? How is chelsea doing? Is she talking? Is she walking? Or have you not tortured her enough already?

Sharon: You have no idea, okay, how this therapy works.

Rey: This treatment of yours puts you in adam's home, where he can be alone with you, where you can be the shoulder that he cries on. Now, if you can't see that, then we really, really do have a problem, sharon.

Sharon: No, I can see that that's how you see it. That's why I took a step back. Helping them out -- that was a mistake. I know that now.

Rey: I'd like to think that you actually believe that.

Sharon: I would like to think that you actually believe that i was acting in good faith and thought that I could help chelsea.

Rey: Yeah, I want to, sharon.

Sharon: Where are you going?

Rey: I'm going to work.

Sharon: Rey... I love you.

Faith: Mom. What happened? What did you do?

Sharon: [ Sighs ]

Summer: So, what's up?

Phyllis: Have you seen the way that -- that sally girl has been working jack?

Summer: Yeah. I have to shield my eyes.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] It's like watching a python try to lure in a puppy. And you tell the puppy, "hey, it's a python," and he's like, "no, no, it's my friend, it's my friend," and snap!

Summer: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Sally is good. How long has this been going on?

Summer: Oh, since the day that she started at fenmore'S. No, jack believes everything that she says. He'll take her word over someone that he's known for years.

Phyllis: What?

Summer: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Wow, she has this whole working-girl, heart-of-gold, "I'm new in this big town" thing going on.

Summer: Oh, please, no.

Phyllis: I feel really bad for jack. I mean, he's single. His mom just died. He's so vulnerable. Honestly, he needs to be needed right now. He needs to have someone to protect, someone who thinks the world of him, and...

Summer: I meahink that jack is one of the best men that I know. I -- we got to protect him.

Phyllis: Yeah, I agree. I agree. We have to protect jack. We're gonna band together. We're gonna do something about this cindy -- sally. Sally.

Faith: What's going on between you and rey?

Sharon: It's just a disagreement.

Faith: Mom, I've seen you two argue before. I've been through the fall-outs, lived through the breakups.

Sharon: We're not breaking up.

Faith: [ Sighs ] I know what it looks like.

[ Cellphone pings ] Oh, my god.

Sharon: What? What is it?

Faith: You kissed him?

Sharon: Kissed who?

Faith: That monster!

[ Breathing heavily ] What is wrong with you?!

Devon: So, abby, I have been giving a lot of thought to your situation since we ran into each other at the coffeehouse.

Abby: You're very sweet, but I just needed a moment, and I'm fine now.

Devon: Well, when mariah told me that she was gonna be your surrogate, I had a moment of realization that all the money that w -'t do anything. It can't change the cards that we're dealt. But when the people in your life who care about you come together you really can make someone's dreams come true.

Abby: Well, we are very lucky to have mariah on this journey with us.

Devon: Do you have room for one more?

Abby: What are you saying?
