Episode #12043 ~ Victoria examines her past with Billy.
Provided By Suzanne
Victoria: [ Clears throat ] When I was coo, I liked to start the year off by taking a look back at the past 12 months at newman enterprises and assessing our performance while making a plan for the new year. Ee determined to continue that tradition as ceo. But no such luck. I've been looking back at the numbers, and...
[ Sighs ] Damn it. Where's that paper?
[ Sighs ]
[ Sound effects and music from tv ]
[ Cellphone rings ] So hard to tell me how satisfied you are with your life. It was like you were answering a question I hadn't even asked.
Victoria: Well, that doesn't mean that what I was saying wasn't true.
Nikki: Of course. Hey, why don't we take advantage of hannah being here and go out to dinner. You need a break.
Victoria: No, I'm fine.
Nikki: Come on. I mean, granted, it won't be grilled mahi-mahi on the north shore of oahu, but it would be nice to go out and sit down and talk about anything other than this...
Victoria: Mom, I really appreciate it. I'm just so busy. And I'm sure that dad is waiting for you at the ranch.
Nikki: He can manage. You have to eat sometime.
Victoria: Hannah made me something. It's in the kitchen. I'm fine.
Nikki: Okay. Oh, what's this? "Reserved for mommy"?
Victoria: The kids, they -- they baked cookies with billy when he stopped by the other day, and katie wanted to make sure that they saved some for me.
Nikki: Aww. That's so sweet. Kids are taking care of you. Sounds like better than you're taking care of yourself.
Victoria: Mom, I know that you're worried about me. But I'm fine. I really am. And -- and I'm not a workaholic -- in spite of how all of this looks. I love doing this. It's what I love. And I'm excited about the year coming up for newman. We have a lot of projects and plans, and I'm excited to see these plans through.
Nikki: Well, I'm excited, too. I just want you to take some time for yourself.
Victoria: I know that. And I am sincerely sorry that we're not in hawaii right now.
Nikki: Oh, don't worry about it. Take care of yourself. If you ever need to talk, please don't hesitate to call me because I am a full-service coo. Whatever's on your mind...
Victoria: Thank you, mom. I appreciate it.
Nikki: Aloha. Pain hits fast.

Victoria: Well, the fourth quarter numbers are just in, but the trend is clear -- the appreciation in the value of our domestic holdings is outpacing the market by about 30%. There are two reasons for this -- both of which I want to be the emphasis for 2021 -- what is it, sweetie? Oh, right, your homework. Well, just leave it there. I'm gonna put it in your backpack so you don't forget it tomorrow morning. And then go on upstairs. I'll be up to say good night in just a minute.
[ Sighs ] Are you okay?
Billy: Yeah, I'M... I'M...
Victoria: Come on. Come on. I'll take you home. Give me your hand.
Billy: I'm coming.
[ Glass shatters ]
Victoria: Oh. Ow. Our life together started on a plane to jamaica, and now here we are. You and me and reed and delia. And this new baby that we're gonna love. It's gonna be an amazing ride, and I wouldn't want to take it with anyone but you.
Billy: Vick... I've let you down more times than I can count. And the fear of that, the inevitability of that is what kept me from doing this till i was firmly reminded just now how temporary all this is, how lucky I am to have you, the kids, friendship, your love, your faith in us. Will you marry me? Again?
Victoria: Yes. Yes. [ Chuckles ] Whatever their sensitive skin gets into...
Victoria: If you can't do this for my sake, if you can't get help for me, do it for yourself, then. Do it for the kids, please.
Billy: Get help, right? 'Cause clearly you think something is wrong. You know, what's really pissing me off now is you're implying that I'm not gonna be there for the kids. And I will always be there for the kids, no matter what happens between me and you.
Victoria: What is that supposed to mean?
Billy: It just means that we're running out of options. You can't accept me for who i am, and I can't fit into the mold that you want me to be.
Victoria: I'm not trying to fix you.
Billy: Let me ask you something -- where did you hear about the supposed affair that i had with amanda?
Victoria: It doesn't matter.
Billy: Your father, wasn't it? Who has done so many shady, underhanded things to interfere with our relationship.
Victoria: No, billy, it wasn't him this time. You're the one that said I was holding you back from being your authentic self. That's on you.
Billy: So he fabricates a story to make it look like I'm having an affair?
Victoria: I do not have to explain myself to you.
Billy: Okay, I'm gonna take that as a yes, right? And as usual with you, daddy knows best, daddy's always right. You know his mo. You know that you can't trust everything he says.
Victoria: We were broken up, so if your world view is correct, then my father had already gotten what he wanted. What motivation would he have to lie, billy?
Billy: An insurance policy just in case we ever got back together?
Victoria: Trust me, there is no danger of it.
Billy: Oh, come on. Look at our track record. It's not like he wouldn't think it's a possibility, except now you think I had an affair, which means you're not gonna trust me or give me the benefit of the doubt.
Victoria: So all of your lying and betrayals, that's all my father's fault?
Billy: Oh, he's loving this, isn't he?
Victoria: No, billy, he's not. My father doesn't want to see someone that he loves in pain. Imagine that.
Billy: [ Scoffs ] "Imagine that." Yeah, victor's perfect. Yeah, they broke the mold with him, didn't they?
Victoria: You know, I'm so sick of you making this about him.
Billy: It's always about him with you. Every single time. It's like we're in a relationship with another person.
Billy: Look -- I've pulled some stunts in my life, but nothing compared to your dad, okay? He's in a whole other league.
Victoria: I mean it, billy!
Billy: And yet you still accept him for who he is. It doesn't matter what he does. Why not just meet me halfway?
Victoria: It's not the same. My father's my father. You're my partner. We have a life together. We've built a home for our kids. We have to rely on each other. God, I can't even believe I have to talk to you about this.
Billy: Victoria, we're --
Victoria: I've been going around and around in circles. I mean, this isn't a discussion. This is like an exercise in frustration, and I'm -- I'm done with it. Wait. Wait.
Billy: Oh, you should have seen it. Cutest thing. Dee dee was reciting her wicked witch lines with johnny.
Victoria: Oh, yeah? Did you get it on video?
Billy: No, I tried, but you know her with the camera. She does not like it. Tried to be sneaky, but it didn't work so well.
Victoria: Well, this play's been so good for her. She's gonna remember it forever.
Billy: [ Sighs ] Hey, I was thinking.
Victoria: Yeah?
Billy: One of these weekends after halloween, before thanksgiving, we should go up north, get a little cabin on the lake, by an orchard, pick some apples, watch the leaves change.
Victoria: I think that's a great idea. Do you think that chloe will let delia go?
Billy: I'm sure if I give her enough warning. I'll ask her. I love this. All of this. It feels like we're such a solid family unit.
Victoria: I know what you mean. It may not be the little "father knows best" house anymore, but it feels like home.
Billy: I want to keep this feeling. Just the way it is right now. The kids at this age. It all seems so perfect.
Lily: It is. And I think a family getaway would be perfect.
Victoria: I love that feeling, too. I'd want to hold on to that feeling.
Billy: We'll get a room at the lodge. Maybe get a separate room for the kids.
Lily: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: Make sure we have a fireplace. I know how you like to curl up by the fire at night.
Lily: Well, you might be tired from all the apple picking all day.
Billy: Oh, that's a very good point. You take the kids apple picking, and I'll wait for you lying on a bearskin rug.
Lily: [ Laughs ]
Victoria: This is my life, not hers.
Lily: I love you.
Billy: I love you.
Johnny: Mommy!
Victoria: What's wrong? What is it?
Johnny: I had a bad dream.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] I'm sorry, buddy. Dreams can be really scary, but they're not real. Everything's fine, johnny. Everything's fine. One of the worst things about a cold sore
Victoria: [ Sighs ] What was your dream about?
Johnny: Daddy wanted to be with us, but monsters kidnapped him.
Victoria: Oh. I'm sorry. That wasn't real, you know that? Dreams are like jumbled-up images and sounds all mixed together. It's like -- like an art project, you know? Like when you do one of those collages and you cut the pictures and you paste them together? Yeah, that's a dream. It's just things that you've seen during the day or pictures or tv shows all mixed together. And sometimes they can be funny, sometimes it's scary.
Johnny: I don't want to go back to bed.
Victoria: It's okay. Let's just relax, alright? I have an idea. Why don't we call your dad? You want to? We can check in on him and make sure he's alright. Okay, let's do that.
Billy: I am starving. I'm gonna order everything on the menu.
[ Cellphone rings ] Hold on a sec. I'm gonna take take this real quick.
Lily: Yeah.
Billy: Hey. Is everything okay?
Victoria: Yes, everything's fine. I have johnny here, and he had a bad dream, so he can't sleep.
Billy: Oh, no.
Victoria: Well, you were in the dream, so he's a little bit worried about you, so we just wanted to call and make sure -- make sure you're alright.
Billy: Can you put me on speaker phone, please? Hey, buddy, it's daddy. Listen, I hear you had a bad dream. Well, just remember that that's not real, okay? It's just your imagination. There's nobody coming to get you. There's no monsters. And there's nobody coming to get me. I feel bad for anyone who's gonna mess with your daddy.
Johnny: When are you gonna come finish our game?
Victoria: Oh, I talked to daddy and he's excited to come here and finish that soon.
Billy: Yeah, I was. And you leave that game out, okay? 'Cause I will be there. And I am gonna win. But listen -- there's no cheating. So you go to sleep and you get some rest 'cause I don't want you tired for school tomorrow. And I'll see you as soon as i can, okay? I love you, buddy. Tell your sister the same. I'll see you soon.
Lily: Everything okay?
Billy: Nothing dad can't handle.
Lily: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: Let's go eat.
Victoria: You want to spend more time with your dad, don't you? Yeah. It was with the snow day and ice skating. Do you know how lucky you are to have a dad that loves you so much and takes such good care of you? So what do you think? Are you ready for bed now? Do you know what I used to do when you were really little and you couldn't sleep? I used to read you "bumpie the camel." I know. I know you're a little old for that now. But, you know, it's kind of one of my favorite books. Maybe you could just keep me company while I read it? Yeah? Okay. Go on upstairs.
[ Sighs ]
[ Sighs ] Hey, mom. I know -- I know it's late, but can I still take you up on your offer tonight?
Br ushing only reaches
25% of your mouth.
"The young and the restless" will continue.
Nikki: Hello.
Victoria: Oh, hi, mom. Do you want something to eat? I think the kitchen is still open.
Nikki: Oh, no, thanks. I've already eaten.
Victoria: I'm sorry it's so late. I guess I must have forgotten to eat what hannah prepared for me, and besides that, I thought it would be nice to get out of the house for a little bit.
Nikki: Well, I'm glad that you called. I could tell earlier that there was something on your mind.
Victoria: There is.
Nikki: Something more than your presentation for the newman employees.
Victoria: My mind has been going 100 miles an hour in different directions all day.
Nikki: I can tell. I mean, I know you think you can hide it well, but something in your eyes. You're just not as focused as usual.
Victoria: Well, that's very astute. Can you guess what's driving me to distraction?
Nikki: I have no idea.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] It's billy.
Nikki: What's he done now?
Victoria: Nothing. We're getting along well. We had a very nice conversation the other day about where we're at. And he apologized.
Nikki: Well, he's apologized before.
Victoria: It was sincere. He's genuinely sorry about what he's put me through in the past. And I believe him. I believe that he's finally grown up.
Nikki: Well, bully for him. Took his sweet time getting there, didn't he?
Victoria: He's aware of that. But it's taken a lot of work, and you have to admire the effort that he's put in.
Nikki: Well, maybe he wouldn't have to put so much effort in if he hadn't have dug so many holes for himself in the very beginning.
Victoria: Granted, mom. But after everything we've been through, I just wanted to give him credit for what he's accomplished. I guess I had lost hope, and he proved me wrong.
Nikki: Not so fast. I mean, this could just be a phase.
Victoria: No, he really has changed. It's like he's a totally different person. I mean, he's still billy, but he's mature. It's like he's become the man that I always believed that he could be...which makes me think that we ended things at the wrong time. I sold him short, and he was a long-term investment.
Nikki: Well, honey, if you're gonna put it it like that, think of all the money you put into that investment without promise that it would pay off.
Victoria: But there is payoff, mom.
Nikki: Don't be so sure. A couple of adult conversations and a moment of maturity doesn't mean he's a full-fledged grown-up yet.
Victoria: Fine, fine. You don't believe he's changed, but I do. And it's made me question some of my choices.
Nikki: Like what?
Victoria: Well, I believed dad when he told me that billy was cheating on me with amanda without looking into it. I just -- I assumed that he had my best interests at heart. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming dad. I made the decision to end things with billy for many reasons. Some of them were rational, others were not.
Nikki: Do you regret ending things with him?
Victoria: No. Given what I knew and the emotional state that I was in, there was just no way we could've stayed together.
Nikki: Are you still in love with him?
Victoria: Mom, no. We've -- we've both moved on. We're raising the children, and that's our connection. I just -- I'm trying to pinpoint where we went off the rails.
Nikki: Darling, it's not like there was one moment where everything went wrong.
Victoria: I know, but looking back, I wonder -- I wonder if maybe things could have been different. I've even had dreams about it.
Nikki: Sweetheart, I think it's pointless for you to second-guess yourself.
Victoria: I'm just trying to make sure that I don't make those same mistakes again.
Nikki: With someone else?
Victoria: Yes. Yes, with someone else.
Nikki: Does this have something to do with the fact that billy has found his "someone else"?
Victoria: No.
Nikki: Well, I wouldn't blame you. Sometimes that's all it takes to re-ignite something that you thought was over.
Victoria: Well, that's not what's happening. Lily is great, and billy's free to live his life.
Colgate optic white renewal
Billy: So I thought you planned on staying in tonight. I guess your mother lured you out.
Victoria: Yeah, something like that.
Billy: Yeah, I had plans tonight, too, but they were canceled. Lily agreed to join me for a drink.
Lily: Yeah, we're just grabbing a nightcap. We had dinner at that new argentinean place that lola recommended.
Billy: Yeah, it was good, but I have to say I prefer lola's halibut here. She does something special.
Nikki: Very true.
Lily: I'm going to grab a couple of seats at the bar. Excuse me.
Billy: I'll see you in a second. So is johnny okay?
Victoria: He's fine.
Billy: Good, so hearing my voice calmed him down.
Victoria: He's fine.
Billy: Good.
Victoria: Hannah said she would call me if anything came up, and I haven't heard a word.
Billy: Good. Well, enjoy your night.
Lily: Do you want to go somewhere else?
Billy: No, I don'T. As long as you don't mind the arctic breeze that is blowing our way.
Lily: No, victoria wasn't bad. She was perfectly polite.
Billy: Well, the temperature dropped a few degrees after you walked away.
Lily: Oh, I don't care about that. I'm just concerned with how she treats me.
Billy: Yeah. I don't know what's going on. I mean, first she gives me a face that's welcoming, and then she gives me a face that tells me to get the hell away from the table. She tells me this morning that she doesn't want me anywhere near the house, and then she calls me, wanting to help comfort johnny after a bad dream. She's up-and-down, hot-and-cold, and I do not understand it.
Lily: Well, I have an idea of what it may be.
Billy: Please, tell me.
Lily: You know, I think maybe you dominated game night, and she's not a good loser.
Billy: You might be onto something. Yeah, it was right after I told her I had a winning strategy that she told me not to come tonight.
Lily: Yeah, I mean, she's always been competitive, but this is just taking it to extremes.
Nikki: Do you want to leave?
Victoria: What? No. I want to relax. I want to order some dessert.
Nikki: Oh. Well, now that he's out of earshot, let's keep talking about billy.
Victoria: I thought that maybe talking with you about it might help me stop thinking about him. I'm just so tired of obsessing over the past.
Nikki: Good. You need to start looking forward with your life. And to be clear, reuniting with billy is a step backwards.
Victoria: I told you, that's not where my head is at.
Nikki: I wouldn't blame you. That can happen so easily, honey. I know that you're lonely.
Victoria: No, I am not.
Nikki: You would have to be. All you do is go to work, go home, go to work, go home. You haven't met any new people.
Victoria: Well, mother, who is there left to meet? I've already met all the people.
Nikki: I'm sorry. I am just saying that you should consider other options other than your ex who broke your heart so many times.
Victoria: Are you saying this based on your own experience?
Nikki: Alright. I understand how it sounds coming from somebody who has married the same person so many times. But over the decades, all the turmoil and the heartache, your father and I found a way to make it work, but I would not suggest you take that same path. Listen. I have hoped that you would meet someone kind and supportive and mature. And unfortunately, billy is none of those things.
Victoria: You don't think billy has changed?
Nikki: No, I don'T. He's still making rash, ridiculous decisions. When chance was shot, he lied about his whereabouts to the police. If it weren't for lily, he could have ended up in prison. I'm just saying, maybe he has grown up a little bit, but you have changed and grown as well.
Victoria: Well, I should hope so.
Nikki: Do you know how lucky you are? You're beautiful, smart, successful. You could have everything and anyone you wanted. Darling, you just need to start making the best and healthiest decision for you and your children. You can't put a price on love.
Victoria: Well, don't stay out too late. That multimedia conglomerate isn't gonna run itself in the morning.
Lily: Oh, don't worry. We'll leave well before last call.
Billy: Hopefully there no more nightmares.
Victoria: What? Oh, right. You're talking about johnny.
Billy: Yeah. What did you think I meant?
Victoria: I just got confused because I wasn't expecting you to bring up his nightmare.
Nikki: Well, so nice to see you both. Good night.
Billy: Good night.
Lily: Good night.
Billy: And I'm sure I will see you soon.
Victoria: See you soon.
Billy: See what I mean? Hot and cold.
Lily: No, I think you're imagining it. She seemed fine to me.
Victoria: Thank you for talking this through with me. I know it doesn't always seem like it, but I appreciate your advice.
Nikki: Good, because I have some more to give.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Alright, let's hear it.
Nikki: When you get home, i want you to sit down at your computer and finish your state of the company presentation.
Victoria: Of course.
Nikki: Then I want you to think back to what this year has meant to you personally. Forget about newman enterprises. Focus on state of victoria.
Victoria: I don't know, mom. Seems a little self-indulgent.
Nikki: Well, you do it all the time for the company. Why wouldn't you want to plan out your personal life?
Victoria: I guess when you put it that way, it makes sense.
Nikki: Are you gonna do it?
Victoria: Probably not.
Nikki: [ Sighs ] I tried.
Victoria: I appreciate it. Drive carefully.
Nikki: You, too. I love you.
Victoria: [ Sighs ]
[ Sighs ] It's gonna be an amazing ride, and I wouldn't want to take it with anyone but you.
Billy: Victoria, we're --
Victoria: I've been going around and around in circles.
Billy: I want to keep this feeling. Just the way it is right now. The kids at this age. It all seems so perfect.
Victoria: I love that feeling, too.
Lily: Hey. Everything okay?
Billy: Yeah. Photo agency from sydney wanting to sell us some paparazzi photos.
Lily: Oh, okay.
Billy: Actually, lily, I don't know why I just said that. It wasn't -- wasn't an agency from sydney. I was texting with victoria. I didn't like the way things ended last night and wanted to clear the air.
Lily: Okay. Did you?
Billy: No. Not exactly.
Lily: Alright. Well, thank you for telling me.
Victoria: [ Sighs ]
[ Clears throat ] Hey, everybody. I'd like to take a few minutes to look back at some of the successes and the missteps of the past year while laying out a plan for newman enterprises for 2021. First of all, much of the growth of the company is due to a new emphasis on renewable energy. The company increased its capital allocation by about 20% in that sector. And we've already begun to see a return on our investment. The company... the company is... is -- is -- is lonely... the state of victoria is... I'm trying. I'm trying very hard to do the right thing for myself and my kids on my own. But I miss being happy. I miss being part of a couple. I missed having a date to abby's wedding. And I missed having somebody by my side while I was in the hospital. When I look back at this year, it was a really hard year. But the projections for 2021 don't really seem to be any better. I have my dream job and my three children who are wonderful who bring so much joy to my life. And that should be enough. Shouldn't it? But I remember what it felt like to be loved and -- and to have A...a whole family in this house. I really want to hold on to that feeling. I know what I need. I know what I need, but... but I can't have it. So the state of victoria is... um... it's a work-in-progress. [ Sighs ]
