Episode #12041 ~ Victor gives Victoria an ultimatum. Nate and Devon discuss family matters. Gloria asks Lauren for a second chance.
Provided By Suzanne
Victor: Well, glad you both came. Now, since victoria and your mother have canceled their plans to vacation in hawaii... I want to arrange for a family dinner.
Victoria: Oh.
[ Sighs ] Well, that might be difficult. I will look at my schedule.
Nick: I got a crazy week. I can already tell you I can't make it.
Victor: Really? That's why we need to get together for a family dinner. Our family is more splintered than it has ever been. And I don't like it.
Chance: The storm has passed. It's a brand-new, beautiful sunshiny day.
Abby: Both literally and figuratively. Ah, I could wait to wake up this morning. Our journey to become parents -- it starts today, and it is all because of --
Mariah: Morning.
Abby: Good morning. Hi. How did you sleep?
Mariah: Like a baby. Is that bad luck to say?
Chance: I don't think so. There's gonna be a lot of talk about babies around here.
Abby: Can I get you anything? Coffee? Tea? Juice? Breakfast?
Mariah: You don't have to dote on me. I'm not big on doting.
Abby: I will try to remember that. I can't make any promises, but...I am just so happy. We're gonna make a baby, all three of us!
Rey: The sun is out now.
Sharon: Hmm? Oh. Yeah. Yeah, it's better today.
Rey: You are still thinking about what happened last night with faith and jordan.
Sharon: Well, I thought it was sneaky, the way that faith had jordan over here, and i didn't like that the way I found out she was here was from the ranch security team. Faith didn't even text me about it.
Rey: Well, I supposed it was better that they were here.
Sharon: Yeah. Well, they got what they wanted. They got to spend the night together.
Rey: They were pretty quiet most of the night.
Sharon: Yeah, and they were, you know, on their best behavior this morning, you know, no attitude and no drama. They were happy to go off to school -- well, happy as two teenage girls can be to go to class.
Rey: You know, I think faith appreciated the way you handled the situation.
Sharon: You mean because i didn't lecture her? I had an ulterior motive. I want to keep a closer eye on her when she's with jordan, and I think she might be more open with me if I keep things friendly.
Rey: You're playing good cop.
Sharon: I really appreciate you hearing me out and being supportive.
Rey: It was in the vows.
Sharon: Yeah, and, uh, I'm hoping you'll be as understanding about another decision that I've made. Um, I'm going to treat chelsea. I know you disapprove.
Rey: Look, I don't want to fight about it. I wish you'd come to a different decision, but psychology is your business, not mine.
Sharon: Can you understand why I'm doing it?
Rey: You want to help chelsea. I get that. But putting yourself in such close proximity to adam again, I think you're asking for trouble.
Adam: Sharon has agreed to work with you. I told her to come over as soon as she can. I'm relieved that she said yes because this is gonna be a big step forward. I hope that you can believe that, too. Do you? Yes? Okay. Good.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Yes, let's provoke the beast inside. Fury is the best motivator, right? And you get to be close to sharon. Everybody wins, don't they?

Devon: This is the last thing I expected to happen.
Elena: Yeah.
[ Sighs ]
Devon: Do you think we should talk about it or see what it means or where we should go from here or...
Elena: I can'T. I can't talk about it or analyze it.
Devon: Okay.
[ Sighs ] How do you feel?
Elena: Um... I feel like I should go.
[ Door closes ]
Abby: Okay, I don't want to come on too strong, but there is a lot for us to do.
Mariah: Let me guess. You were up very early making a surrogacy checklist.
Abby: No.
Mariah: Because that's exactly what I was doing. Great minds think alike.
Abby: [ Laughs ]
Chance: Abby was up most of the night working on hers.
Abby: And I made a spreadsheet that I think will be very useful.
Mariah: Well, I was doing some research of my own, and i called tessa, so she's gonna go to her herbalist and pick me up some pregnancy-healthy teas.
Abby: So, she really is okay with this?
Mariah: I have a ridiculously amazing girlfriend, and I can't imagine doing this with a better person.
Abby: Well, that is so great because emotional support is very important. And I want to make sure that the three of us are always in sync, that everyone's feelings are always taken into consideration and respected, and of course there will be a legal agreement so you feel comfortable at all times.
Mariah: Perfect. Now, what about doctors' appointments? Because from my understanding, there's going to be a lot of them.
Abby: That's what the spreadsheet's for.
Chance: Okay, ladies, speaking of doctors, I'd better get out of here if I'm gonna make my appointment. I want to do everything on my end to get this done.
Abby: Call me after your appointment?
Chance: Will do. I love you.
Abby: Love you.
[ Door closes ] I don't want to seem too presumptuous, but I made an appointment for you, for your initial exam.
Mariah: Great. When is it? I'm sure it's gonna take some time to get in the office.
Abby: It's this afternoon, actually.
Mariah: Okay, I guess it pays to be an abbott-newman-chancellor.
Abby: It has its perks sometimes.
Adam: Thank you for coming so quickly.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Adam's thrilled you were willing to run right over.
Sharon: Last time I was here, I didn't get to say just how sorry I am that this happened to you.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] I'm sure you're really torn up about my condition. How's rey, by the way? Does he even know you're here?
Sharon: Adam has assured me that, you know, you -- you agreed to this. I just wanted to make sure that's still how you feel?
Adam: Alright, then. Well, I'll let you two do your thing.
Sharon: So happy we're all on the same page.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] You bet. I want you where I can keep an eye on you.
Sharon: You know, I can imagine this must be really overwhelming for you. Um, so, you know, we'll just ease into it. I was thinking, you know, i would just stop by here every few days, see how you're doing, a little chat. You know, I can't promise anything, but maybe something good will come of it.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Something good with adam, you mean. That's what you've always wanted.
Phyllis: Again, that would be no. Let me be clear -- victoria newman has nothing to do with the grand phoenix. Exactly. So if you want to come in and discuss holding your conventions -- hello? Hello? Hello?! Have a good day.
Victor: I am aware that the situation with adam has caused a lot of turmoil in the family. And I must say my heart goes out to him, especially now that chelsea has suffered this terrible stroke. But I want to say to both of you that I no longer expect you to feel any sympathy for your brother.
Victoria: Well, thank you for finally realizing that.
Victor: But you two need to put whatever is bothering you behind you, alright?
[ Cellphone pings ] I have another meeting to go to. Thank you for showing up. Your mother will call you, arrange for the dinner. Not a request, but obviously very important to both me and your mother. Have a nice day.
[ Door closes ] I have been suffering with migraine for years.
Elena: Nate.
Nate: Hey.
Elena: Hi.
Nate: Tried calling you a couple times last night, but, uh, never got through.
Elena: Oh, sorry, I --
Nate: I was getting a little worried.
Elena: I fell asleep and, um, didn't realize my phone died.
Nate: Just get home?
Elena: Yeah, I got stuck in the storm, so I wasn't able to make it home.
Nate: I hope you didn't get stuck someplace you didn't want to be.
Elena: Um, no, no. It was fine. Sorry to cut this short. I actually need to run upstairs and take a shower and get something to eat. I'm working a shift at the hospital this afternoon, so...
Nate: Yeah, no problem. Bye.
Elena: Okay.
Nate: Uh, see you later.
Nick: We're never gonna convince dad to cancel this dinner, so we just go to mom and tell her we can't make it.
Victoria: Really? Do you think that'll be the end of it? Neither of them is gonna let this go.
Nick: What's the alternative? We show up and just pretend everything's cool?
Victoria: It would be nice if we didn't have to pretend. I really don't like you being mad at me, nick.
Nick: Well, you attacked the woman I love. You expect me not to react?
Victoria: What do you want from me?
Nick: An apology.
Victoria: Fine. Buying a controlling interest in phyllis' hotel was not the classiest thing that I've ever done, and I was wrong. And if I could take it back, I would. Are you satisfied?
Nick: No. Someone else needs to hear it, so go talk to her and make it right.
Victoria: [ Sighs ]
Mariah: The doctor did the exam. We went over my medical history, including my last check-ups with my internist and ob-gyn. That all looked good. We're still waiting on some blood work, but there's no reason to believe I can't carry a pregnancy to full term.
Abby: That is the best news!
Mariah: Yeah, I know. I mean, I wasn't too worried about it, but it's definitely good to know for sure.
Abby: I am just so grateful. How am I ever gonna be able to thank you enough?
Mariah: You thanked me before the appointment. You don't have to do it every hour.
Abby: Maybe not, but I will never be able to thank you enough. You are giving us the greatest gift of love, and you will have my wholehearted appreciation always, okay?
Mariah: Okay.
Sharon: I want you to feel comfortable during our sessions, so if you ever need to take a break, then you just blink twice.
Adam: Hey. Sorry to interrupt, but chelsea's physical therapy starts in a few minutes.
Sharon: [ Sighs ] I'm so excited we're gonna be working together! Um, I'll see you soon, okay?
Adam: Thank you for everything. Really. I'm truly grateful.
Sharon: I'm so happy to do it.
Adam: [ Sighs ]
[ Footsteps departing ] (Vo) every kid deserves nutritious food to help them grow strong.
Sharon: [ Sighs ]
Rey: Hey.
Sharon: Hey. I-I didn't know if you would be home. Do you want to talk more about me counseling chelsea?
Rey: No, no, no. I assume everything went fine and if there's something you feel like I should know, you're gonna tell me.
Sharon: Of course.
Rey: There's actually something else I want to share with you.
Sharon: Okay.
Rey: I found this in the couch cushions.
Sharon: What is that?
Rey: It's a cap to a bottle of vodka. I, uh, didn't want to jump to conclusions, but...
Sharon: Faith and jordan were drinking here last night during the window of time that they were here alone. Nikki only left because she thought I was on my way home, but I was stuck at crimson lights until you came to pick me up in the suv.
[ Sighs ] Where's the bottle that goes with this cap?
Rey: I didn't find it.
Sharon: It's probably in jordan's backpack.
Rey: It's also possible that it's been buried in the couch for some time now.
Sharon: Well, I've never bought this brand of vodka ever. Faith was drinking under this roof. I have to call nick. We have got to do something.
Lola: Hey. I figured when I'd see you next, but I thought you got stuck at the clinic. Is everything okay?
Elena: Um, not really. Any chance you have a minute to talk?
Lola: Yeah, sure. What's going on?
Elena: I think I just really need a friend right now, preferably one who isn't going to judge me for what I am about to say.
Lola: Okay. Judge-free zone. Go ahead.
Elena: So, I went to drop off a package at devon's that got left at the clinic. And I ended up getting stuck there for the night.
Lola: Well...yeah, everyone got stranded, but to wait out the storm with an ex -- that must have been a little awkward.
Elena: Yeah, yeah, it was -- it was awkward at first. And then it was something else.
Lola: Oh, wow. You mean you spent the night... with devon.
Devon: Hi. Can I get one coffee to go, please? Thanks.
Nate: Devon.
Devon: Hey.
Nate: Hey. Uh, we need to talk.
Devon: Oh, yeah? What's on your mind?
Abby: Hi! I didn't hear you come in. I thought you were still at work. Did you get my text about mariah's doctor's appointment? It could not have gone better. We should celebrate. Okay, that's not why you came home early. You didn't call me after your appointment. What did the doctor say?
Feeling sluggish or weighed
down?
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Nick: Look, I agree with rey. Finding the bottle cap is not ideal. But it doesn't prove faith was drinking. And I would hate to think that she would be brazen enough to drink at home and lie about it to our faces, after every talk we've had with her. How'd she seem last night?
Rey: Well, the girls were asleep when sharon and I got home.
Sharon: At least, that's what they wanted us to believe.
[ Sighs ] Look, I don't want to believe this about faith, but we can't turn a blind eye to this. We can't make excuses for her. Nick, this is too serious. Look, the best-case scenario is jordan brought that bottle of alcohol over here and faith didn't drink with her. But the worst-case scenario is faith's been drinking all this time and we didn't even know it. You know, either way, I am very worried about her hanging out with that girl. I think faith needs professional help now. I think she needs to be in therapy right now.
Nick: Okay, just -- sharon, just hold on.
Sharon: What? What is it, nick? You told me to contact a therapist, so I did. I found this fantastic woman. Actually, I graduated with her, and she focuses on teens. She said that she could meet with us right away, and right away -- that's now. I'm calling the therapist.
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Abby: Say something.
Chance: I don't think that we'll ever know why I got the results that I did today. The doctor thinks that it could be the result of the medication that I took in the hospital. When I got sepsis. Or perhaps the damage is due to the fever that I had from the infection. But it's not really the cause that matters. It's what we're facing right now.
Abby: Just tell me the details. I can handle it.
Chance: [ Sighs ] Low sperm count, low motility, damage. I didn't really hear much else the doctor had to say once he said the news wasn't good. But the one thing that I do know is... I can't give you a child right now.
[ Loud rushing ]
Nate: I couldn't believe what I found out this morning. The e-mail. I assume it threw you for a loop, too.
Devon: Yeah. Uh, moses's flight info, right?
Nate: He's coming way sooner than expected.
Devon: Mm-hmm.
Nate: You ready to share your house with a teenager in a few weeks?
Devon: Mm. Uh, I am, yeah. It's -- I'm -- I'm -- I'm excited to have my little brother come to town.
Nate: Yeah. I'm excited to get to know him better and mentor the future dr. Winters. Hopefully this means the family gets together more often.
Devon: Oh, yeah, that'll -- that'll definitely make lily happy.
Nate: Well, um, I better get to work. Don't want to hold you up. Unless there's something else on your mind?
Devon: No, not at all, not at all. I'll see ya.
Elena: I was at devon's place, and I think being there just brought up all these feelings. And I got caught up in being this person that I was before i broke devon's heart. And we talked, and he opened up. And we had this long conversation that we probably should have had months go, and i got to tell him why I cheated. And we both got to talk about what we did wrong and how we wished we could have done better. We could both just see each other clearly. And we both realized how much we loved each other and... how much we both lost.
Lola: So, how did you feel when you woke up this morning?
Elena: Devon wanted to talk about it, but I didn't give him a chance. I was so overwhelmed, I had to get out of there.
Lola: It makes sense. You just needed space to process everything.
Elena: Except I ran into nate.
Lola: Yikes.
Elena: Yeah. And he was so sweet. He was worried about me during the storm. And I couldn't handle that. I had to rush off, which is apparently my M.O. Now. And I don't know what he made of that.
Lola: Well, maybe you need to stop thinking about devon and nate and you need to focus on what's going on inside of you. How do you feel about each of them? And if you're being truly honest with yourself, elena, what do you want?
Elena: Thanks. I know what I need to do. We do it every night.
Victoria: Phyllis.
Phyllis: Hey, victoria. What are you doing here?
Victoria: I'm so glad i caught you.
Phyllis: Why is that?
Victoria: Because I came to apologize.
Chance: Abby, I am so very sorry. I feel like I've failed you somehow.
Abby: Don't apologize. It's not your fault.
Chance: When the doctors started talking, all I could think about was you... and this moment, how hard it'd be to tell you and... how impossible it'd be for you to hear me.
Abby: For both of us. We just had one crushing disappointment and we somehow got over that and -- and now this.
[ Sighs ] But I am the one who's sorry because I know what's been taken from you.
Chance: But that's the thing. There's the possibility that this could change eventually. It could revert itself.
Abby: What?
Chance: It's complicated. I could wake up one morning and everything just goes back to normal. There's no way to know.
Abby: And then?
Chance: And then...we could proceed with our plans to have a baby.
Abby: And if not? You know what? Um, you just -- you need some time. This is too much too soon. I mean, if we just wait, uh...
Chance: Look, I know that being a parent isn't about dna. It's about showing up and being present every single day. It's about singing the alphabet song and playing with your kids. The truth is -- I don't even know -- this little piggy? But I know that this isn't what we planned. I -- I feel that I can't give you what you deserve, and I hate myself for that.
Abby: Are you saying that you don't want to have a baby with me anymore? Because if you want to talk about what I deserve, I deserve to know if everything has changed.
Devon: Hey.
Elena: Hey.
Devon: I'm glad you came back.
Elena: Yeah, I'm sorry I ran off like that. You were right. I think we should talk.
Devon: Come in.
Elena: You mind if I start?
Devon: No. Please.
Elena: When we first got together, you told me that i brought you out of the darkness when you lost hilary. And I want you to know that you've done the same for me. You have brought so much light to my life. I'm a doctor again because you helped me to remember to dream. I'll always be grateful for the time that we had together. I loved you so much. And, um, I hope you know that. I hope you always know that. But so much has happened since then. And there are things that we can't change or wish away. And I don't think we can go backwards. I don't know what the future holds for nate and I. But I think I owe it to myself to figure it out.
Devon: Yeah. I understand. And I loved you, too. You absolutely brought me out of a very dark place when we met. You brought a happiness to my life that I really never thought that I'd find again. And I think last night was just about us trying to recapture that -- wanting to feel that connection again. But, uh, you know, our hearts are in two different places now.
Elena: So, we feel the same way.
Devon: Yeah. Yeah.
Elena: Okay. So, how should we handle this?
Adam: Well, I'm sorry the physical-therapy session didn't go as well as we hoped. But I don't want you to get discouraged. Dr. Cavett is not giving up. You have an incredible medical team. And now we have sharon to counsel you. I know that this must be very frustrating...and infuriating. But maybe you should use that, you know, get mad and channel your rage. It might lead to a breakthrough.
Chelsea: [ Thinking ] Look at you, looking at me, wondering what I'm thinking, what I'm feeling. It is maddening to be so uncertain, isn't it?
Adam: Well, you're probably tired, so I'm gonna get the nurse and let you rest.
Sharon: Thank you for coming over on such short notice, lanie.
Lanie: I was glad to do it. So, uh, yesterday sharon filled me in on what's been going on with faith.
Sharon: Well, something else has happened since then. We think that she was drinking with her friend last night.
Rey: I found a vodka bottle cap that we know doesn't belong to us.
Nick: Well, we haven't talked to faith about it yet, and i really want to hear what she has to say first.
Sharon: Well, regardless of what she says, I can't help feeling like she's going down a bad path.
Nick: Look, I agree with you, she needs some help. But we are still in the, you know, "let's figure out what kind of help she needs" stage. Do you think we'd be rushing thing if we put her in therapy at this point?
Lanie: I don'T. From what I've been told about the anxiety faith's experienced, the possible bullying, the shifts in behavior, I think professional counseling is warranted.
Sharon: I agree. When could you start working with her?
Lanie: As soon as she's ready.
Nick: Okay, um, we need to talk about this amongst ourselves first, but we will be in touch with you very soon. Thank you.
Lanie: Of course.
Rey: It was a pleasure meeting you.
Sharon: I'll call you. Thanks again, lanie. What the hell was that about? You know how high the stakes are for faith. Ugh, there's that cute guy from 12c.
Nick: We're on the same side here, okay? I just have a different perspective. I think we need to be a little more cautious, alright? Lanie said she will work with faith whenever she's ready. Well, in my opinion, I don't think she's ready yet.
Sharon: [ Sniffles ]
[ Voice breaking ] Rey, what do you think?
Rey: I think the two of you need to come to a decision together.
Sharon: We have to do this now, for her own sake.
Nick: We can't risk faith locking us out. There's more than one way to lose a child.
Devon: I'm not gonna say anything to nate. A month ago, I probably would have. But I'm -- I'm not in that place anymore. I'm not trying to ruin anything for anybody. And I know that your life doesn't deserve to get blown up over what we did, so...
Elena: Thank you. I don't want to hurt anyone. I already came between you and nate once, and I don't want to do it again. I also don't want to sabotage your relationship with amanda.
Devon: I mean, I wouldn't really call it a relationship. We haven't gone on a date or anything.
Elena: I can tell you really care about her. So, we're in agreement.
Devon: Yeah. We will keep this to ourselves.
Phyllis: You're gonna have to forgive me for being skeptical of this so-called apology.
Victoria: I understand your suspicions, but I am being sincere. My pursuit of the grand phoenix was not business. It was personal. And I got carried away. Admittedly, I liked watching you squirm. But that was really beneath me, so I'm -- I'm sorry.
Phyllis: Well, that's a good performance.
Victoria: Oh, my god, phyllis. I'm doing my best here. What -- what -- what do you want from me?
Phyllis: I like it. I mean, I like that you're apologizing for your behavior. But I just wonder why, and then I remembered that nick said that he was meeting with you, so you're just doing this to get on his good side.
Victoria: I'm just hoping that we can finally close this chapter. Tell nick that I was here.
Phyllis: I will do that. Oh, victoria, um, I just want to say, I don't think it's possible for you to just apologize for, you know, how you are and your personality. I'm just saying.
Victoria: Well, you would know.
Abby: If this news is too much, if you feel like...
Chance: Here's what's gonna happen. I'm gonna pour myself a drink. And I'm gonna feel sorry for myself for an hour, maybe two. And then after that, I'm going to come find you and I'm gonna tell you a joke. And then after that... we're gonna go find a donor. And after that, we're gonna look into adoption, just like we discussed. One kid, two. Hell, maybe even a dozen. Sweetheart, you and I are gonna have a loud, noisy, messy family. And I'm gonna be the dad that horseplays too close to bedtime and probably burning the pancakes on sunday morning. But our kids will know that i love them, no matter how they got here... because they're ours... and because I love you. You are more [Sighs] Than i could have ever dreamed of. And so are they.
Abby: Don't say that because you feel like you have to.
Chance: I'm not. I'm saying it 'cause I -- because it's what I want. I want to be daddy or da-da or papa or pop. I guess pop works.
Abby: I shouldn't have pressured you into making a decision.
Chance: Are you saying that because you want to wait to decide?
Abby: No. No, of course not. No. I -- [ Sniffles ] I want a baby. I want a baby today. I wanted a baby yesterday.
[ Sniffles ]
Chance: Then that's what we're going to do.
Abby: We're doing this?
Chance: Yes. We are. But right now, I'm gonna have myself this drink.
Abby: [ Chuckles ] Well, um, I -- I can sit with you.
Chance: If it's okay... I think I'll be here by myself.
Abby: Okay, well, um... I have some things to do at society.
Chance: And when you get back, I'll have that joke ready for you.
Abby: I love you.
Chance: I love you, too.
Abby: [ Sighs ]
[ Exhales heavily ]
[ Cellphone ringing ]
Chance: This is detective chancellor. I was wondering when you would finally catch up with me.
Coming up on "the young and the restless"...
Nikki: Do you regret ending things with him?
Sharon: We're not discussing a bottle cap. We're talking about what was in the bottle that it came from.
Nick: The drinking is a concern.
Elena: Do you remember when you asked to take me on a romantic getaway?
Nate: Mm-hmm.
Elena: I think I'm ready to take you up on that.
