Episode #12023 ~ Victor takes matters into his own hands; Amanda makes a painful decision; Jack protects Sally.

Victoria: Welcome home, everyone.
Victor: Thank you. Is it too late to wish you a happy new year?
Victoria: Never!
Nikki: It's so good to see you.
Victoria: So, how was the trip?
Nikki: Ah! Unforgettable.
Victor: Lifetime of memories.
Nikki: Which is good because that's how long it'll be before I can convince him to go on vacation again.
Victor: That's nonsense. I'll go with you anywhere, sweetheart.
Nikki: Ah? I'll hold you to that.
Victor: Yes.
Nikki: Now, this is for you and the kids.
Victoria: Aww.
Victor: Open it when you're all together, okay?
Victoria: Thank you so much!
Nikki: So, what's been going on? Anything new?
Victoria: Oh, I -- I guess you haven't heard the news.
Victor: What news?
Victoria: Chelsea's in the hospital.
Nikki: What happened?
Victoria: She had an aneurysm that ruptured, and they -- they rushed her to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Nikki: Oh, my god.
Victor: Ohh, that is serious business. How is she now?
Victoria: The rupture caused a stroke.
Nikki: [ Sighs ]
Adam: Listen, do not put me on hold again. This is an emergency. I need to check on chelsea lawson's condition. It's adam newman...again.
[ Sighs ] No change? Alright, I-I need to see her. Because I have every right to be there. Yes, I understand, but I'm not gonna keep putting up with this forever. She needs me there, and I will take whatever safety protocol is required. But if you do not let me see her today, there is gonna be hell to pay.
[ Exhales sharply ]
[ Cellphone clatters ]
Lily: I mean, this follow-up article has the chance to be incredibly powerful. There is a shooting, a wrongful arrest. And we ran the idea by chance, so he's on board.
Billy: I think we need to remember that this story would not have a happy ending if it wasn't for you.
Lily: Oh, my -- can you stop, please?
Billy: It's important that the story tells the true hero of it.
Lily: I thought we agreed to leave me out of it.
Billy: I did not agree to that. I didn't agree to that. Plus, I can see it -- a woman risks it all to get the game-changing evidence to the police. Come on.
Lily: Okay, do you realize how egotistical that looks, that we're painting a chanccomm ceo as some superstar detective?
Billy: Yes, I think it has legs. I think it's great.
Lily: Okay, you know what? Let's vote on this.
Billy: Fine. Tiebreaker. What say you?
Amanda: You need to rethink this idea before you destroy every bit of credibility this company has.
Sally: Good morning, kyle.
Kyle: Hey.
Sally: Whoa. Did the temperature just dip in here? 'Cause I felt a little bit of a chill.
Kyle: Excuse me?
Sally: You're not gonna start avoiding me now, too, are you?
Kyle: "Too"?
Sally: Summer is the consummate professional at work, but she barely tolerates me.
Kyle: Well, I think the two of you probably --
Sally: Tell me this -- have I screwed things up beyond any repair?
Kyle: I...
Sally: Alright, yeah, of course I have, and I will take part of the blame for that. But just tell me the truth since you know summer better than anyone. Is there any possibility that I can fix things?
Jack: Summer, you got --
Summer: Yeah -- oh, sorry. Um, yeah, can you send those designs to me by the end of the day? Perfect. That's what I wanted to hear. Okay, sounds good. Bye. Hey.
Jack: Hey. Uh, I can see that you're busy. Um, there's something I need your help with.
Summer: Yeah, sure. Is it, um, business or personal?
Jack: Well, kind of a combination of both. It's sally spectra.
Summer: Well, um, you know how much I respect you, but when it comes to sally, I think that you can save yourself some valuable time and just skip the spirited defense.
Jack: Well, I happen to think she's worth my valuable time. And I'm sincerely hoping you'll hear me out.
Summer: [ Sighs ] Ahoy! Gotcha!

Summer: Jack, I will always listen to you, no matter how misguided you may be about sally.
Jack: So you don't think there's any chance you got the wrong impression of her?
Summer: I mean, I highly doubt it. She admitted that she was gunning for my job and was gonna try to get it by any means necessary, so I don't really see how I could trust her after that.
Jack: Sally said theo was the one who told you she was up to no good.
Summer: Yeah, that's true.
Jack: And you trust theo over sally? Theo, who time and again has proven he's both vengeful and untrustworthy?
Summer: I mean, I'm not gonna defend him, but I don't think that it means that he was wrong about sally. And, jack, if you heard the way that she was accusing me of being handed my jobs because of nepotism, I don't really think you'd be on her side.
Jack: Sally told me she overreacted, that she got defensive and lashed out in the worst way. Look, she's feeling insecure.
Summer: Okay, so, her way of making herself feel better is to malign me?
Jack: Haven't we all done and said things for which we would like to be forgiven? I'm not saying you two need to be best friends. I'm just asking that you give her another chance.
Sally: If you want to know the truth...
Kyle: Mm-hmm?
Sally: ...Part of the fault lies with me, but, like, 75% of the fault lies with theo.
Kyle: How did he come between you and summer?
Sally: He told her that i was trying to take her job... and her man. Can you believe that?
Kyle: That does sound like him.
Sally: And he even told me that summer wanted to have me fired, so when she came at me, i gave as good as I got.
Kyle: Mm. So you're not after summer's job...or me?
Sally: Not at all.
Kyle: [ Chuckles ]
Sally: No offense.
Kyle: None taken. What brought on this sudden realization that theo was manipulating everyone?
Sally: I mean, I should have figured it out sooner, but i like to give people the benefit of the doubt until I just can't anymore.
Kyle: Theo was never happy unless he was causing trouble. But you still haven't answered my question.
Sally: There was one moment where I realized that theo had lied to me.
Kyle: Mm.
Sally: Working for fenmore's, I've had the opportunity to see summer in action. And she's so smart. She knows that lauren has complete confidence in her, so why would she want to get rid of me when she knows I'm not a threat?
Kyle: What about jcv? Even if you're not after summer's job, do you still want to work for the division? You clearly have ambitions beyond being lauren's assistant.
Sally: Do I want to move up the ladder at fenmore's? Of course. Do I want to get back to designing? Absolutely. But those are long-term goals that I intend on achieving by proving myself. Look, I swear to you I do not want to be in competition with summer. That is not my style. I am all about women supporting women. And if anything, I am genuinely inspired by everything she's accomplished.
Amanda: Let me go on record as saying that I am happy that you two are seeing each other. I think that you make a wonderful couple. And a love letter to lily touting her heroism would be a wonderful gesture from you to her. But this article is about serious topics. It shouldn't go anywhere near your relationship.
Lily: Thank you for agreeing with me.
Billy: Okay, I hear your words of wisdom, but let's not forget the fact that we hired a freelance reporter to write the exposé on adam and now that reporter is sitting in jail for trying to shoot him.
Amanda: And I like the idea of emphasizing the fact that chanccomm is a company that is dedicated to pursuing the truth. Just find another way to spin it.
Billy: [ Sighs ]
Lily: Yeah, it has to hit all the right notes.
Amanda: What about another exposé?
Billy: On adam?
Lily: No, I think we've covered that ground.
Billy: On alyssa? Childhood friends until she finds out that adam killed her father and then she goes out for revenge?
Amanda: I was thinking about something a little different.
Billy: Different how?
Amanda: Well, what if we shine the spotlight on someone who is just as deeply involved, but may be a little bit easier for the readers to empathize with?
Lily: Ooh, I like where you're going with this.
Billy: Mm. Where are you going with this? Who?
Billy: Me?!
Nikki: Still no answer?
Victor: Straight to voicemail. Adam, this is -- this is your dad. Kindly call me as soon as you can, alright? Thank you. Now I know why he tried to reach me in london.
Nikki: And why he didn't pick up when you tried to call him back. He was probably too distraught.
Victor: What is the prognosis regarding chelsea?
Victoria: Nick says that it's pretty serious, but beyond that, we don't know.
Victor: I've got to find adam.
Nikki: Darling, I understand how you feel, but given everything that's happened and his decision to remove himself from the family, you getting involved could be disastrous.
Victor: Sweetheart, i understand your concern, but I've, you know, dealt with his slings and arrows before. I'm not gonna leave him alone now.
Nikki: Well, he's bound to be tense and worried, but perhaps you entering the picture might make matters worse.
Victor: Sweetheart, I am his father, okay? I mean, this man is alone in the world. He has pushed everyone he knows away. Don't you agree? I mean, the woman he loves has a stroke? I need to be with him now. I hope you understand that. I'll see you later.
[ Door closes ]
Victoria: You know, when i first heard about chelsea, my heart really went out to her and connor.
Nikki: Well, at least the poor child is away at school and being looked after away from everything that's going on here.
Victoria: It's really hard, though, for me to muster any sympathy for adam.
Nikki: Oh, believe me, I feel the same. But my first and foremost concern always has to be your father.
Victoria: You know, when you and dad walked in here, you both looked so happy and carefree.
Nikki: Ah, we had the most wonderful time in london, visiting with noah. We went to the museums, saw shows. And not two hours after landing, he is back in the thick of it, all stressed out, ready to move mountains for adam, who has such disdain for all of us.
Victoria: Oh, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he's forgiven and forgotten everything that adam has said or done again.
Nikki: Mm-hmm. Your father's unconditional love.
Victoria: And I'm sure that adam intends to milk this for all of the sympathy that he can get.
Nikki: Ohh. If your father ever heard you say that --
Victoria: I've said similar things plenty of times. It always falls on deaf ears.
Nikki: [ Sighs ] What we really should be doing right now is praying for chelsea's speedy recovery. That way, she and adam can happily reunite with connor.
Victoria: Yeah, and finally leave genoa city for good.
Amanda: I think it's the best way to approach the situation -- make the story about billy, let the audience see it through his eyes.
Lily: Mm-hmm, and we blast him with hard-hitting questions.
Amanda: The readers will have far more respect for our brand when they see our co-ceo getting a taste of his own medicine.
Lily: Right, 'cause he can dish it, but can he take it?
Amanda: Exactly. So, we show how the fallout from billy's vengeance came back to bite him and almost cost him his freedom.
Billy: Well, this sounds borderline painful. Do I get any say in this?
Amanda: No.
Lily: No, you get something better. You get a platform to tell your own story -- with the help of one of our journalists, of course, but you can address any criticisms about your past.
Amanda: Your life of privilege.
Lily: Integrity -- head-on.
Billy: Well, obviously you have a long list of grievances. And here I thought that I didn't have any flaws anymore.
Amanda: "Anymore" being the operative word. Show the world.
Billy: Okay, yes, I have a reputation for being a screw-up, and this could be the redemption arc that people are looking for. It could work.
Amanda: I think it's perfect.
Billy: But if I'm the court jester, then she is the warrior queen.
Lily: No, no, no. I refuse to let you paint me as a hero of any kind.
Billy: Okay, then how about this? You're driven by your desire to protect your company and to uphold chanccomm's relentless pursuit of the truth.
Lily: Yeah. Now we're on the same page.
[ Doorbell rings ]
Victor: May I come in? Whoa.
Adam: I, uh -- I thought you were in london. I called.
Victor: I know, and I called back, but there was no answer. I understand chelsea's in the hospital.
Adam: How do you know that? Never mind. You know everything.
Victor: How is she doing?
Adam: [ Sighs ] She is, uh, still unconscious. They won't even let me see her.
Victor: And why is that?
Adam: Risk of infection after the surgery. At least, that's what they're telling me.
Victor: And you think there's something more to it?
Adam: I don't know. I don't know what to think. But it can't be a good sign.
Victor: Ah. You know, I'm very sorry to hear that.
Adam: I just -- I don't know what else to do. I want her case reviewed by top specialists. I want to get some other opinions, and I just keep hitting brick walls.
Victor: Well, don't you worry about that, okay?
Adam: Well, what are you gonna do?
Victor: Son, I have paid for many a wing in this hospital, and I am sure chelsea's in one of them.
Adam: Who are you calling?
Victor: I'm calling the chief of staff. Hi. This is victor newman. Yes. Well, thank you for asking. Well, there's something indeed you can help me with. Uh, would you kindly tell charles that I'm bringing in a group of specialists to deal with the patient chelsea lawson, okay? I want him to hurry this along. Thank you.
Managing type 2 diabetes?
Billy: Well, I'm really glad we had that conversation about me being hoisted on my own petard. It's done wonders for my ego.
Amanda: With an ego as big as yours, I think you'll be fine.
Lily: Yeah, I don't think either of us worries about that in any scenario.
Billy: Thank you for that. And on that note...
Lily: Aw, did we scare you away?
Billy: Maybe a little bit. I'm gonna go talk to the reporter and let them know that the story has changed an angle.
Lily: Yeah, I think he'll love it.
Billy: Well, he is not the one I'm worried about.
[ Door opens ]
Amanda: Well, that went easier than I thought it would.
Lily: Well, yeah, are you kidding? I mean, building the story around billy was inspired. Ticks all the boxes.
Amanda: And it will only work because of how much he's changed over the past few months.
Lily: Yeah. He has.
Amanda: And that's thanks to you.
Lily: [ Laughs ] Well, that's very generous, but I think all I did was just bring out what was already in there, so... anyway, we discussed billy. What's going on with you?
Amanda: Um, I -- I don't know what you mean.
Lily: Well, you just seemed a little distant today.
Amanda: Oh, um, yeah, I'm fine. I just -- I haven't been sleeping well.
Lily: Oh. What's been keeping you up at night? Anyone I know?
Amanda: Okay, no, nothing like that.
Lily: You know I'm gonna keep asking the question until you give me an answer, right?
Amanda: You know, maybe what I need are a fresh pair of eyes. Can I buy you a coffee?
Lily: Yeah. I'd love it. Lead the way.
Jack: So, we're agreed on everything?
Lauren: Uh, yes, yes, that is, uh, everything. Okay, sally, would you please e-mail all the notes to jack?
Sally: Absolutely. You will have it in your e-mail by lunch.
Jack: Okay, now that we have business taken care of, there is something else we need to discuss.
Lauren: What's that?
Jack: The situation between summer and sally.
Lauren: It hasn't escalated, has it?
Sally: No, I haven't even seen her in days.
Jack: I didn't mean to imply that it had gotten any worse. In fact, I had a productive conversation with summer earlier.
Sally: Jack, you did not have to do that.
Jack: Well, for the peace of mind of everyone, I wanted to. Summer is open to having a conversation.
Sally: Really?
Jack: At the conclusion of that conversation, I am hoping that she can put any bad blood behind her.
Sally: Well, this is amazing.
Jack: Well, don't thank me just yet. The ball is still in your court.
Sally: Well, I appreciate you going out on a limb for me.
Jack: No problem. I want you to acclimate to genoa city in as smooth a way as possible.
Lauren: And summer would be a very valuable ally for you.
Sally: I agree. And it really means so much to me that you both believe in me.
Lauren: Don't let us down.
Sally: I won'T. I promise. I will do everything I can to win summer over.
Kyle: Sally swears she's not after your job.
Summer: Well, it looks like she's trying to charm all the abbott men because your dad was just trying to convince me of the exact same thing.
Kyle: Well, did you believe him?
Summer: Nope. And I really hate that he's become her chief defender.
Kyle: He obviously has a soft spot for her. That's why he asked her to spend christmas eve with our family.
Summer: Okay, so, what do you think I should do about sally?
Kyle: You can't fire her. She's lauren's employee. So maybe the smartest move would be to keep her close.
Summer: Really? Right, okay, so that way I can see that I was wrong about her all along and that if I would just ease up and give her a chance --
Kyle: What?
Summer: She's gotten to you, just like she's gotten to jack. I really -- I can't believe that you're on sally's side.
Kyle: I am most definitely not. I am always 100% on your side. You know this.
Summer: Yeah, I used to.
Kyle: Okay, I don't want you to have any doubts about this. I've always got your back.
Summer: Okay, then why are you telling me to befriend my nemesis?
Kyle: Because if you have her where you can keep your eyes on her, then you will be the first to know if she's planning anything. You can smell the smoke before there's a fire.
Summer: Mm. "Friends close, enemies closer" kind of thing?
Kyle: [ Raps table ] Bingo. And if it turns out that she's not plotting anything, I won't hurt to get along with your boss's assistant.
Summer: Okay, so you really think that there's a chance that she's just some poor, misunderstood girl from los angeles trying to figure out our wisconsin ways?
Kyle: I don't know what her deal is. But I know the best way to find out is to get her to drop her defenses.
Summer: It would be like befriending a snake. And I'm sorry, but when it comes to venomous creatures, I would like to keep my distance.
[ Cellphone pings ] Oh, well, speaking of the cobra, it looks like sally wants to get together to clear the air.
Kyle: Ohh. And so it begins.
Summer: Do I really have to?
Kyle: If you want to neutralize her, that would be a "yes."
Summer: [ Sighs heavily ] "Sure. Let's clear the air."
[ Sighs ]
Victor: So, just so you know, I've instructed my people to reach out to the top specialists in the country, okay? They will advise us as to the proper diagnosis and how to go forward from now.
Adam: Thank you so much.
Victor: Yep, well, she will soon be in the best hands.
Adam: That's good. You know, it happened so suddenly, I didn't know what to do.
Victor: You did the right thing, son. You reached out to your father.
Adam: Well, I'm sure that you have, uh, more important things to do, so you don't have to stay.
Victor: Oh, I know I don't have to. Let me just reassure you -- my feeling is that chelsea's so strong, so resilient, she'll pull through this.
Adam: [ Sighs ] So, is this my karma? The woman that I love has to suffer because of the lifetime of my sins?
Victor: Well, my boy... I honestly don't think that's how the universe works, you know?
Adam: Well, maybe it's time for some deep contrition on my part.
Victor: Contrition is always good, you know, if you came out of it the better for it. But in moments of this extreme stress, I think it's always good to reach deep into your soul and try to find out what's really bothering you and then try to rectify it, you know?
Adam: Oh, man. Will I ever get it right?
Victor: You bet you will. This is the sound of an asthma attack...
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
[ Cellphone ringing ]
Adam: Who is it?
Victor: The chief of staff at memorial. Yes, charles? Okay. Well, thank you for getting back to me so soon, okay? Yep.
Adam: What'd he say?
Victor: Well, some positive development with chelsea.
Adam: Well, that's terrific.
Victor: Well, she's still paralyzed on the right side and she can't speak. However, they said she is able to receive visitors now.
Adam: You mean that I can go see her right now?
Victor: The nurses are waiting as we speak, okay?
Adam: [ Sighs ] Look, um... I cannot thank you enough for what you've done.
Victor: Glad to do it, son.
Lily: So, you found your mother's name and address?
Amanda: Yes, and I drove all the way out to wilmette to meet her.
Lily: So, did you?
Amanda: From afar. She was on her doorstep with her daughter.
Lily: You have a sibling?
Amanda: Yeah. Sibling.
Lily: Wow, and you didn't say anything?
Amanda: [ Sighs ] I don't think I could have said anything even if I tried. You know, seeing her face for the first time after spending a lifetime wondering and fantasizing...
Lily: Wow. So, I mean, what do you do next?
Amanda: I don't know.
Lily: I mean, god, no wonder you've been so distracted.
Amanda: [ Sighs ] Yeah, devon thinks that I will be plagued with questions for the rest of my life if I don't go to her right away.
Lily: Oh, you -- you talked to devon about this?
Amanda: He drove out to wilmette with me. He's been very supportive. I hope that that doesn't bother you.
Lily: Oh, no, no, no. I'm happy that you have people to support you. I mean, I -- I have my own advice, if you want to hear it.
Amanda: Yeah. Give it to me.
Lily: Well, I think that devon is right. I think whatever answers this woman can provide is important and worth the risk. And plus, from what I've seen, I think you're strong enough to handle whatever truth is out there.
Victoria: Hello. I was just about to call you.
Billy: Yeah? About what?
Victoria: The winter festival for the kids. It's coming up soon. They're really looking forward to it. They want to make sure that you're coming.
Billy: Yeah, of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Victoria: Great. I have an extra ticket with your name on it.
Billy: Oh, wonderful. Well, let me know the details.
Victoria: Speaking of events, I never got the chance to ask you about your pre-christmas trip with lily.
Billy: We didn't go.
Victoria: Oh?
Billy: Yeah, she talked me out of it. She said that if something did come up and we didn't make it back for christmas, then I would never forgive myself. And she was absolutely right, especially with how johnny was being anxious about me not making it back in time, which I'm still surprised he put all that together simply by overhearing our conversation.
Victoria: Right, well, i guess he's at the age where he's old enough to listen in on grown-up conversations.
Billy: Yeah, I thought you might have covered for me and reassured them that I was, you know, not gonna let them down.
Victoria: Well, I just decided that I wanted to prepare them in case something went wrong and you were a no-show.
Billy: Wow. Okay. No, you wouldn't do that, would you?
Victoria: Wouldn't do what?
Billy: Use johnny to get me to cancel my trip with lily. To support a strong immune system,
Victoria: How could you imagine that I would have an ulterior motive like that? I was just trying to make sure that johnny and katie had a nice christmas.
Billy: Okay.
Victoria: And I was trying to prepare them in case something came up or your flight was delayed. I wanted them to understand that they would still have a nice day despite your absence. I would never use our children like that.
Billy: Yeah, I know. I just -- a few years ago, you, uh -- you called me when you knew that I was spending the night with phyllis to tell me that katie was having a hard time sleeping and --
Victoria: Ahh. You are kidding me right now, aren't you? You know, children do have a hard time sleeping sometimes. Do you seriously think that I am secretly plotting to derail whatever romantic moment you happen to be having with whatever woman? And -- and -- and using our children to do it?
Billy: I --
Victoria: That is the most egotistical, self-centered idea I have ever heard.
Billy: Oh, right. And I thought you were cool with me seeing lily.
Victoria: I am cool with you seeing whoever you want or doing whatever you want, but what I am not cool with are these ridiculous accusations, billy.
Billy: Okay. I apologize. I'm sorry. Consider it dropped, alright? And, look, it all worked out in the end. We had a great christmas. The kids had a wonderful day. And I had a great time with lily here in town.
Victoria: Great. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time.
Lauren: Have you ever thought about changing careers, like maybe becoming a counselor?
[ Laughs ] The way you handled that summer/sally situation was nothing less than miraculous.
Jack: The outcome remains to be seen. All we can do now is hope for the best.
Lauren: Yeah. Well, I share your instinct in giving her the benefit of the doubt. Sally has a lot of energy and ambition, talent.
Jack: It has occurred to me that the reason she and summer don't get along is that they're so much alike.
Lauren: [ Laughing ] Yeah, well, maybe we should let them realize that.
Jack: Ah, to be young and ambitious.
Lauren: Ooh, deadly combination.
Jack: You remember?
Lauren: Oh, do I remember? The stunts we pulled to get ahead. Whew! I think they invented the phrase "second chances" for us.
Jack: Well, maybe what we just did for sally is paying it forward, you know, balancing the scales.
Lauren: The hell we raised. How the devil did we become somebody's role model?
Jack: God only knows.
Lauren: [ Laughs ] You know, I still feel like there's more to her story that she's not ready to tell us, but I think she has potential.
Jack: I agree. She's dedicated. She's hard-working.
Lauren: And I feel a certain loyalty to her great aunt. Maybe that's why I'm so fond of her namesake.
Jack: I get that.
Lauren: I still wonder why she came to genoa city, but I'm sure she'll tell us in due time.
Jack: I think everyone deserves a chance for a fresh start. The past is the past. People have a right to start their lives over any way they choose.
Sally: Well, I just want to start off by saying that I am deeply sorry, really. I never meant to let this get so crazy. That's just not normally who i am.
Summer: Okay, so, I mean, how did all this get so out of control?
Sally: It was theo. He said things, and since I'm new here, I believed him.
Summer: Well, theo really is one of a kind, so...
Sally: Mm, well, thank goodness. Can you imagine if there were two of him?
Summer: Mnh.
Sally: But I blame myself for believing him whenever he said you were trying to get me fired. That was really foolish of me.
Summer: We all make mistakes, right?
Sally: Well, I want you to know that I am not after your job, okay? I'm perfectly happy where I am, learning so much from lauren.
Summer: That's good. I mean, it seems like she really believes in you.
Sally: [ Sighs ] Man, I would do anything for her. And while kyle is very handsome and, dare I say, hot, he is totally not my type.
Summer: Well, vice versa.
Sally: Of course. I am not the man-snatching job stealer that you thought I was. I'm just like everybody else just trying to figure out where I belong and do the best job i can.
Summer: No, I get it. It must be hard coming to a new place and just wanting to fit in.
Sally: [ Sighs ] You have no idea. I mean, some nights, even after working 10-hour days with lauren, it's still hard for me to sleep. But knowing that we are on good terms again would definitely go a long way with helping me rest easy.
Summer: I bet it would.
Sally: So...does this mean we can start over?
Summer: Anything's possible, right?
[ Chuckles ]
Sally: 'Cause I think we would be a great team if we work together. You come up with an idea, and i can make it happen. You know, I -- I would really even like it, actually, if we became real friends.
Summer: Wow. Bffs already. Huh. Whew.
Sally: Okay, well, maybe it's a little too soon for that. But watch out because one day, when you least expect it, you might be out with the fenmore's gang having drinks after a rough day at work, and you just might get dragged up into doing a little dua lipa karaoke duet with a certain someone. And by the time we have everybody on their feet shouting for an encore, you might just think to yourself, "you know what? I actually really like this chick."
I'm erin.
-And I'm margo.
Summer: Hey. I was hoping I'd find you here.
Kyle: I've already gotten a text from sally.
Summer: Seriously?
Kyle: She told me the two of you buried the hatchet.
Summer: Oh, I'll tell you where I'd like to bury it.
Kyle: Ohh. So rumors of your reconciliation were greatly exaggerated.
Summer: You know what? She almost had me. Then she poured it on a little thick, and now I'm even more convinced that theo was right about her. She's after my job, kyle.
Kyle: What convinced you?
Summer: The fake sweetness. I mean, she even talked about doing a dua lipa karaoke duet. That is when I really knew.
Kyle: So you pretended to buy her act.
Summer: Yes. I am taking your advice. I am keeping my enemy close. Meanwhile, I need to know more about sally's story. That way, I can know what I'm really up against.
Kyle: What are you going to do?
Summer: I think a reconnaissance mission is in order. I got to pack my best forrester outfits because I'm gonna go to L.A.
Lily: Alright, status check. What have I missed?
Billy: I got the ball rolling on the article.
Lily: And you're really okay with the direction we're taking it?
Billy: I am more than okay with it.
Lily: Good.
Billy: And once again, I have to thank you for being my guardian angel. Every once in a while, I need a push to stay honest with myself. But I think this article will be not only good for me, but good for us.
Lily: Really? How so?
Billy: Well, you are gonna learn all my deepest, darkest secrets.
Lily: Oh, I can hardly wait.
[ Laughs ] No, I think it's really brave that you're willing to go under the microscope like this.
Billy: Well, I think it's brave that you stand by me through all of this, definitely risky, maybe even crazy.
Billy: Well, just promise me one thing.
Billy: Just one thing?
Lily: For now.
Billy: Hit me.
Lily: Just know that if you ever need anything -- you know, a gut check or a second opinion, someone to cheer you up or help you -- I'm always here. I don't scare easily, so I'm not going anywhere.
Amanda: [ Sighs ]
Naya: Let's see. Ooh, ooh.
[ Sighs ] Yes? Who is this? What do you want?
Amanda: Uh... my name is amanda sinclair.
Naya: Do I know you?
Amanda: [ Voice breaking ] No. You don'T. I'm -- I'm the daughter that you didn't give to your cousin rose. And I would very much like to meet you.
Adam: Chelsea?
