Episode #11830 ~ Victor gives Billy an ultimatum, Mariah and Tessa reunite and Jack makes a confession to Jill.

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Theo: I'm gonna take you... to new york.

Lola: What?

Summer: Theo is going to go out of his way to push your buttons, and it's up to you to not let him.

Theo: Keep the information coming, and I promise I will take care of you when I'm in charge.

Victoria: Maybe my recovery is just taking longer than i want it to, but... you know, I've never really been the soul of patience.

[ Gasps ]

Nick: Vick?

Victoria: [ Groans ]

Nick: Hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Vick, vick, vick, vick. What's wrong? What's wrong?

Victoria: [ Breathing heavil

Nikki: How are you feeling?

Victoria: Well, I'm just grateful that it wasn't a heart attack. I'm sorry if I worried you all.

Nick: Stop. You don't have to apologize for anything.

Victoria: I'm relieved that the cardiologist thinks that the pain was caused by an angina and not the alternative.

Nikki: Well, angina is not something I would normally celebrate, but in this case, I certainly will.

Victoria: Mm. I'm just really glad that the scare is over, and hopefully i can go home tonight. Oh, good. Perfect timing.

Nate: So, the cardiologist's preliminary diagnosis appears to be correct. You had low blood flow to your heart, which was causing the pain. But we'll need to do some follow-up appointments and further testing.

Nikki: Does that mean that i can take it back to the ranch?

Nate: Yes, but they were just starting on her paperwork as i was headed up here, so it'll be some time before she can be discharged. But hang tight, and I'll come back and let you know when everything's all set.

Victoria: Thank you for everything.

Nick: I'm so glad you're okay.

Victoria: Thank you.

Nick: Alright, uh, I'm gonna get going. I'll call you later?

Victoria: Of course.

Nick: Alright. Hey, nate. Hey, thanks again, man.

Nate: Oh, not a problem. She'll need to take this seriously, but it's manageable. Alright.

Jill: I'm really glad you called me. I needed a break from being a referee for billy and lily.

Jack: Ah, things still tense there?

Jill: Mm. Ah. You could say that.

Jack: Then you'll admit that your idea of teaming them up to run that division is not going as smoothly as you thought it would.

Jill: I am admitting nothing. Besides, whatever gave you the idea that I wanted smooth? Smooth is, you know, complacent and compliant and people telling you what you want to hear. I really value the differences in the perspectives that billy and lily bring to the table. I want a constant battle of ideas.

Jack: Do you want gladiators or ceos?

Jill: Well, see? Now, there's the trick -- making sure that it stays competitive but not combative. What am I telling you that for, though? You've got your hands full with kyle and theo over at jabot, yes?

Jack: Wait. What have you heard about that?

Jill: Oh, no. Relax. It's nothing from outside sources. But do you remember what I said when I met theo, that I knew his type? I mean, he's a go-getter. That boy has a fire in his belly, which is a wonderful thing, jack, if you can harness it, but it's big trouble if you can'T.

Theo: [ Sighs ] You're on the right track, but this isn't quite what I'm after.

Kendra: Those are private e-mails that kyle wouldn't want out there.

Theo: Yes, but they're pretty tame. You know, we could spin them and make them slightly embarrassing, but I want something bigger.

Kendra: How big?

Theo: I don't know yet. But I do know my cousin, and he's way too sure of himself. And that kind of attitude leads to being sloppy and making mistakes. So keep digging. Once you find something juicy, something we can use, you'll know it. And once you've got it, bring it to me, and I'll take it from there.

Kyle: The pitch is good, but not great.

Summer: No, I know it needs some work, but we'll get it there.

Kyle: How about we grab some takeout and continue working on it back in my suite?

Summer: Do you really think we'll get any work done if we go back to your suite?

Kyle: We'll kill two birds with one stone.

Summer: Okay. Deal. I just have to go home first and grab some clothes for tomorrow.

Kyle: Mm. You know what I'm thinking?

Summer: Mm... not unless you tell me, no.

Kyle: Our living situation is also good, not great.

Summer: Really? I thought it was kind of great.

Kyle: Mm. It's inconvenient for you to shuttle back and forth between your dad's and the hotel, and I'm getting a little tired of living out of a suitcase.

Summer: I mean, I know it's not ideal, but I'm fine with it for now.

Kyle: Why settle for fine when there's an easy solution? We get our own place. You're clearly someone who takes care of yourself.

Mariah: So, this is the rock-star life? Chilling out on a private jet after the show.

Tessa: Ahh. It's not bad, eh?

Mariah: It is not bad, no.

[ Both chuckle ] It's past midnight, and I am wide awake.

Tessa: [ Exhales sharply ]

Mariah: I think it's partly because seeing you sing to a sea of fans is a huge adrenaline rush.

Tessa: Hmm.

Mariah: Is it weird to say that watching people sing along to a song that you wrote me is really cool? What is it like for you?

Tessa: Uh... I'm not gonna lie. It's -- it's pretty great. Um...it's like I took a part of us and then put it into the world and then, by some miracle, people picked it up and just started putting it in their hearts, too. And we're all connected in this way. Okay, I know that sounds a little woo-woo.

Mariah: Hey, go "woo-woo." It make sense to me.

Tessa: How about when i dedicated it to you at the end and then the crowd cheered? How crazy was that?

Mariah: It's a total trip. It's like we're -- we're a thing.

Tessa: And a hashtag. I guess that's what happens when you declare your love in front of hundreds of people. Come here.

Summer: Do we really want to add moving to our workload right now?

Kyle: It wouldn't be that much work. They have these people called movers.

Summer: Ohh. I don't know. It just kind of seems like a bigger conversation that we don't really have the time for right now.

Kyle: I'd settle for a thumbs-up or -down on the general concept.

Summer: Um...

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: Oh. Okay. Message received.

Summer: No, no, no, no, no. Don't read into that. It's just, um, you know... have you really thought about giving up room service and maid service? And I love you being at the hotel 'cause it, you know, kind of feels like we're on vacation even when we're working these really crazy hours here.

Kyle: That's all true, but the downside is it never really feels like you're at home.

Summer: Yeah. No, I get that. Well, maybe -- maybe you should get your own place.

Kyle: Without you? What exactly are you trying to say?

Jack: Yeah, theo reminds me a bit of myself. I want him to succeed, but I've told him, "if you want a future at jabot, you're gonna have to find a way to get along with kyle."

Jill: Mm-hmm. Hope you got through to him.

Jack: Yeah, so do I. I have neither the time nor the inclination to babysit my nephew, especially now.

Jill: Oh, right. So, how is it having dina back home?

Jack: It's not easy. This woman that came home is not my mother. She hasn't been for a long time. Yeah, we get these occasional ephemeral glimmers of recognition, but they go away as quickly as they can.

Jill: Oh, lord, that must be so painful. But I hope that you and ashley and traci are able to find some comfort in the fact that you are doing the right thing.

Jack: Yeah, we keep telling ourselves that.

Jill: You know, I was with my mother at the very end. But when I look back, there are so many moments I missed. My biggest regret is that i didn't make liz a priority in her last years.

Jack: It's harder than people think, striking a balance between looking after yourself and looking after a loved one.

Jill: Yeah, but my point is, you and your sisters -- you're giving her kindness and love and comfort and her dignity. What you're doing is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Plus, it's a gift you're giving yourselves 'cause you're never gonna have the regrets that i have when you look back later.

Victoria: Have you been getting along with your sister while I've been gone? Be honest because I'm gonna ask hannah. Okay. I'm glad. Mommy's fine. She's gonna be home soon. Okay, baby. I love you, too.

Nikki: I wish I would have been able to reach your father before he left town.

Victoria: Why? I don't want him to worry. I'm gonna be fine.

Nikki: Because he could get you to take this seriously. Your body is sending you a message that you're trying to do too much too soon.

Victoria: You're making way too big of a deal out of this.

Nikki: Alright. Humor me. Get some rest before you're discharged.

Victoria: [ Inhales deeply ] Okay. I'll try.

Nick: We'll discuss the changes to the contract at the meeting tomorrow. Yeah. What the hell are you doing here? (Michael) my tip is, not.

The same things that you that.

Summer: I love

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Look, I'm sorry for putting you on the spot. I probably shouldn't have sprung moving in together on you like that.

Summer: I love that you did.

Kyle: You didn't seem like you loved it. I assumed we were on the same page about where things were headed.

Summer: We are. I promise you I want all the same things that you do. I just -- I don't see a need to rush it.

Kyle: Is this about your parents?

Summer: Oh, I don't really care whether they accept us or not.

Kyle: Yeah, I know. They're not my biggest fan, but that's not what I meant. I was talking about them maybe getting involved with each other again.

Summer: Oh. Yeah, that. That is definitely happening, by the way, which is ridiculous 'cause it's just gonna blow up in their faces again.

Kyle: Like us?

Summer: What? No. No, no, kyle -- kyle, we are nothing like my parents. They -- they are completely -- completely incompatible and perpetually, embarrassingly hot for one another, but totally wrong.

Kyle: Whereas we are...

Summer: Meant to be together. Our obstacles have been bad timing and immaturity.

Kyle: I agree, but I don't know what your issue is with taking the next step.

Summer: I just think that things have been going so well, so why push it, you know?

Kyle: Because it's not pushing it. It's the right thing to do... if you and I are right for each other.

Summer: We are right for one another, just not right now.

Kyle: Why?

Summer: Because you're still married, kyle.

Mariah: Here...is to us.

Tessa: To us.

Mariah: And to tanner...

Tessa: Ah.

Mariah: ...For being so supportive of our relationship and not giving up on us even when we did.

Tessa: He's a good guy who didn't want to see me miss my chance at happiness. And he knew that my next 50 songs would be about my broken heart unless he stepped in and did something, so...

Mariah: We should also toast to him for letting us have the private jet all to ourselves.

Tessa: Yeah, that was above and beyond. You know, I can't think about it too much, though, because then i start to feel guilty and I just picture him squished in a small van with a dozen sweaty roadies.

Mariah: Mm. You're totally right. We shouldn't think about it.

[ Both laugh ] Do you know what this reminds me of?

Tessa: Hmm. Our, uh, trip to san francisco, when we kissed for the first time?

Mariah: Yes, exactly. Except this time, no devon or noah.

Tessa: Yeah.

[ Both laugh ]

Mariah: Here.

Tessa: [ Sighs ]

Mariah: I'm so happy right now.

Tessa: Just so you know, i fully intend to write a song about this moment.

Mariah: Well, then I guess we should make it a moment to remember.

[ Both giggling ]

Billy: I'm here to see the mother of my children. Nikki called and told me that victoria was having severe chest pains.

Nick: She's okay. You can go.

Billy: It's really none of your business.

Nick: I'm sure my mother only told you because she was concerned how this would affect johnny or katie if there was something seriously wrong, but she's gonna be fine. Vick told you she didn't want anything to do with you. Now, she's given you the benefit of the doubt many times, but we both know she doesn't want to see you tonight.

Billy: It's not your call to make. Now step aside.

Nick: No, no, no, you're not -- you're not going in there. You stay away from victoria. Cancer won't wait for hospitals

Billy: I really don't feel like doing this right now, nick.

Nick: I don't care, billy, how you feel. You know, when vick got back together with you this last time, I knew it would end up in a disaster, but I didn't say anything 'cause I respect my sister, so I held back. And deep down, I guess I was hoping that this time it would& be different, but of course it wasn'T. You let her down like you always do because it's who you are and you don't know how to break the habit. And now my sister -- she's got to rebuild herself both physically and emotionally. But, billy, I am done holding back. I will do whatever it takes to protect my sister.

Billy: You tell me she's gonna be okay, that's all that matters. So I'll go.

Nick: Good. That's the only way this ends well for you.

Billy: Okay, but do you know what? You should take that laser-beam judgment you have focused on me and turn it around on yourself. Or, better yet, go talk to sharon or phyllis. They'll remind you of the very many bad habits that you have of your own.

Nick: Don't go there.

Billy: Why not? Because it's easier to judge me than be honest with yourself? One day soon, you're gonna fall off your high horse, nick, and it's gonna hurt.

Summer: Okay, just forget i brought up the divorce at all. I know you're gonna handle it in your own time, and I really am fine with that.

Kyle: Yeah, but you're not, really, if that's the reason you don't want to move in together.

Summer: No, I just want to do things right this time. As far as I'm concerned, you and I are going to be together for a very, very long time, so I'm in no hurry. And I-I really do get why you haven't filed yet.

Kyle: Yeah, it's true we've been swamped at work and I've been distracted by the whole theo thing, but... it's not just that.

Summer: Why? What else is it?

Kyle: I feel awful about hurting lola, and it seems like racing to make the divorce official would add insult to injury.

Summer: Yeah, I guess I get that.

Kyle: Honestly, I was hoping she would handle it so she would have control of the process in some way.

Summer: Well, why do you think she hasn't?

Kyle: I don't know. But I'll talk to her about it soon.

Summer: Okay, again, I am not pressuring you. I am perfectly content with the way that things are.

Kyle: Mm.

Summer: Okay, back to tonight -- I am gonna go pick up some clothes, and you are going to pick up dinner?

Kyle: Yeah.

Summer: Okay.

Kyle: I'll meet you back at the suite.

Summer: Okay. Bye.

Kyle: Bye.

[ Sighs ] Call society.

[ Line ringing ]

Jack: We found this questionnaire that dina had filled out before her mind was overwhelmed by alzheimer's, and...pretty moving to read her reflections on her own life.

Jill: Wow. How bizarre to get an unvarnished view into dina's mind.

Jack: And heart and soul. And it was clear she spent a lot of time thinking about how she'd let her family down. She lived with a lot more regret than I ever realized.

Jill: So, did that help you, knowing that she was so guilty over abandoning you?

Jack: Oh, hell, I don't know. I don't know. I-I hate the idea of her feeling tortured. I mean, there's enough heartache going around, and I keep -- I keep telling myself she made the only choice she could have made at the time.

Jill: Yeah, but look at the consequences of the choices she made on you children.

Jack: Yeah. Look at that.

Jill: Ah. In the end, I think we all do the best we can, huh?

Jack: Yeah, I think you're right.

Jill: You know, maybe i should get a copy of that questionnaire so I could start resolving my issues right now.

Jack: No, you don't seem like someone who has a whole lot of regrets.

Jill: Ohh... no, I guess I don'T. Well, maybe a couple where you're concerned.

Jack: Ouch.

Jill: Kidding, kidding, mostly. I mean, we did have our painful moments in the past, right? But isn't it nice that we can still be friends now? In fact, I'm gonna make a very bold statement.

Jack: Uh-oh.

Jill: After all these years, I still like you.

Jack: [ Chuckles ] Thank you. I am honored.

Jill: [ Laughs ]

Jack: And I feel the same.

Jill: Hmm. In fact, in retrospect, I've had much worse relationships than ours.

Jack: Ah.

Jill: Our dalliances -- ah! They don't even make my top 10.

Jack: Well, I'm glad to hear that. I wouldn't want to be on that list.

Jill: So, am I on yours?

Jack: You'd be 11th.

Jill: Oh. There's a relief.

Jack: So -- so, wait. Wait. Who's number one?

Jill: [ Exhales heavily ] My worst relationship of all time? Well, that's pretty easy. That would be mr. Colin atkinson by a mile. In fact, he may have turned me off men for all time.

Phyllis: No, society -- it's, um, a decent restaurant. But I'm gonna give you the name of a steak house down the street, and then the sushi place right next to it is pretty great, as well, and tell them phyllis sent you. Hey!

Nick: Hey.

Phyllis: This is a surprise. What are you doing here?

Nick: I came to see you. As a struggling actor,

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Jack: I hope you're kidding about being done with men.

Jill: I'm not so sure. I mean, romantic relationships at this time in my life might not be worth the hassle. And, frankly, I'm a little surprised that you don't agree with that, given everything you went through with -- what was her na-- kerry or dominique or somebody?

Jack: Another in a long list of mistakes. It's finally dawning on me i don't know anything about love, I guess.

Jill: [ Laughs ]

Jack: But I'm not talking about celibacy.

Jill: Oh, wait a minute. I am not ready to don my nun's habit just yet.

Jack: [ Chuckles ]

Jill: Yes, I do miss companionship, among other things. But I have a really full life. I've got my work and my family and, you know, travel and -- oh, honey -- such good friends that I'm always happy to hear from. Have you noticed that the circle of friends that we know in genoa city all these years has gotten much smaller?

Jack: We have to stick together.

Jill: Yeah, we do. And isn't nice that you don't have to explain your history to each other 'cause you already know everything? Well, almost everything. I still think I have a little mystery left, huh?

Jack: Oh, there's no doubt about that.

Jill: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: We should do this more often.

Jill: I would like that.

Phyllis: You're in a good mood.

Nick: Yeah. Vick was released from the hospital tonight. We, um -- we thought she may have had a heart attack.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. That's terrifying.

Nick: Yeah, but she's gonna be okay. Then I had a little run-in with billy, where I had to talk him out of going in to see her.

Phyllis: Ohh, that's tough. I mean, he should know better.

Nick: Well, what happened with vick put things in perspective. And I've been very anxious for her to come back to newman to relieve me, but she should take as long as she needs to recover. So I got to hold down the fort for as long as that takes. So, you know, other things in my life are going to have to be put on hold.

Phyllis: What does that mean?

Nick: Just, you know... other priorities are gonna have to take a backseat.

Phyllis: Right. New hope?

Nick: No. New hope is fine.

Phyllis: Oh. Uh, like your personal life?

Nick: What personal life?

Phyllis: Oh, it's been a little slow lately, right?

Nick: Yeah, it's like, you know, off and on.

Phyllis: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] Yeah. Yeah. Well, that is unfortunate because I think that you owe it to the ladies of genoa city to, you know, get out there, show yourself off.

Nick: Okay. So, I owe it to the ladies.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] Yes, you do. I think that you have a lot to offer the ladies.

Nick: [ Chuckles ]

Summer: Oh, god. Get a room.

Lola: They told me there was someone at the bar with a complaint. What seems to be the problem, sir?

Theo: I missed you.

Lola: That's an interesting reason to request to speak to the chef.

Theo: Mm.

Lola: But I'm pretty busy.

Theo: I know, but there is something I had to tell you that couldn't wait.

Lola: Okay.

Theo: The crowing rooster.

Lola: The crowing rooster.

Theo: You and I have reservations on our weekend in new york. And we won't have to ask to speak to the chef because i called in a favor and she's gonna take us back into the kitchen, show us all of our secrets.

Lola: Theo, what? That's incredible.

Theo: Well, making you smile like that was the goal.

Lola: [ Chuckles ] Mission accomplished.

Theo: Well, I do have a ton of other things lined up, but I want them to be a surprise.

Lola: Okay.

Theo: Well, let's just say that museums and shopping are involved.

Lola: You're not really good- at keeping things a surprise, huh?

Theo: You're right. Okay. All I'm saying is we'll barely have time to sleep.&

Lola: Right. Uh... about that -- you haven't really told me where we'll be staying.

Theo: Well, that's one of the surprises.

Lola: And I'm sure wherever we stay is going to be wonderful, but --

Theo: But...

Lola: But I just want to make sure that there's no miscommunication. You know, we're going on this trip together, and we really haven't talked about...

Theo: Got it. You're asking about sleeping arrangements. I'm phil mickelson.

Summer: Hey, guys.

Phyllis: Hey!

Nick: Hey there.

Summer: Hey. What are you doing here? Were you looking for me?

Nick: No, actually. I came to see your mom.

Phyllis: Yeah, he wanted to tell me about victoria. Have you heard?

Summer: Yeah. I have. It's a huge relief it's not as serious as they first thought.

Phyllis: Yeah. Uh, your dad told you?

Summer: Yeah, he did.

Phyllis: Good.

Summer: He did -- with these new contraptions called cellphones.

Nick: Well, I was in the neighborhood.

Summer: Oh.

Nick: So I thought I would tell your mom in person.

Summer: Right. Well, it's almost christian's bedtime, so you probably want to get going, huh?

Nick: Actually, christian is at a sleepover.

Phyllis: Well, do you want to have a cocktail? Just the three of us? It's on me.

Summer: Uh, well, sadly, i can't 'cause kyle and I have a lot of work to get through tonight, so...

Phyllis: Okay.

Summer: Yeah, I guess I'll leave you guys be.

Nick: Good night. I love you.

Summer: Love you.

Phyllis: I love you, too.

Summer: Love you.

Phyllis: We shouldn't have personal conversations in the lobby, obviously.

Nick: That's true.

Phyllis: Would you like to continue this upstairs?

Theo: I still want to keep the specific hotel a surprise, but I will tell you, I got us a suite.

Lola: A suite?

Theo: With two bedrooms.

Lola: Okay. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be weird. I just --

Theo: Hey, I was listening when you said you wanted to take things slow.

Lola: Thank you.

Theo: But, I mean, if you do happen to get lonely in your room, I will be close by.

Lola: Mm. Good to know.

Theo: And you are welcome to come visit if the mood strikes you.

Lola: Alright, well, I'll keep that option in mind.

Theo: Look, the bottom line is, I really want this trip to be special. After all the crap you've gone through, you deserve to have some fun, you know, an uncomplicated good time. You define what that means, and I'll follow your lead.

Lola: That's really, um... thank you.

Victoria: I'm so happy to be home.

Nikki: I'm sure you can't wait to say good night to the kids.

Victoria: Yeah. I hope they're not already asleep 'cause if they are I'm gonna wake them up.

Nikki: Well, I think you should, but not until I spend a little more time with my daughter.

Victoria: I'm sorry about tonight. I hope I didn't worry you too much.

Nikki: Oh, please. Think nothing of it. I'm always here for you, as is your father, once he gets back here.

Victoria: Where is he, anyway?

Nikki: He's in kansas. Thanks to adam, he's worried that hope's farm has fallen into disrepair.

Victoria: I didn't know he still cared about that place so much.

Nikki: Yeah, he does, but not nearly as much as he cares about you. I'm sure once he gets my message about what happened to you, he will turn right around and come home.

Victoria: No, he doesn't need to cancel his plans just because I had chest pains for a little while.

Nikki: Ohh, he feels the same way as I do -- that there is nothing in this world as important as you.

Mariah: Hey, can I, um -- can I call you back in -- in like five minutes? Um, and we'll talk more, okay? Alright. Bye. My mom is getting a scan to figure out if the chemo has shrunk the tumor at all.

Tessa: Okay. Yeah, yeah, that -- that's a big deal.

Mariah: Yeah. It is. Um...faith is really scared, and she's trying to, uh -- to be strong for my mom, but I can tell she's messed up and...

Tessa: I know.

Mariah: I'm sorry.

Tessa: It's okay. I understand. You need to go home. Something great from mr. Clean.

Mariah: Well, this flight will get me back to genoa city by 11:00 A.M.

Tessa: Okay. Get it. Your mom needs you.

Mariah: You know, the scan results could be great. They could say that the chemo is doing exactly what it should. And then sharon would be furious at me for coming back for no reason.

Tessa: Well, I hope she gives you hell because that is exactly what is gonna happen. The scan is gonna come back with good news, and then you'll be there to celebrate.

Mariah: But what if it's not good news?

Tessa: Then you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Mariah: [ Breathes deeply ] It's still hard to leave.

Tessa: Well, we're gonna talk every day, and you're gonna be completely open and honest about everything you're feeling, even if it's hard for me to hear, okay?

Mariah: Yes. I promise. I am going to take my own advice that I gave to faith. I'm not gonna try to handle everything on my own, not when i have people to rely on who love me.

Tessa: You don't have to be tough all the time.

Mariah: I don't feel very tough right now. And I won't pretend otherwise, from now on.

Tessa: Good. Now buy that ticket.

Mariah: [ Sighs ] Alright. Done. You know, we still have an hour before this plane lands.

Tessa: Oh. Well, look at that. I, uh -- I say we make the most of it?

Mariah: Thank you, tanner.

Tessa: Thanks, tanner.

[ Both laugh ]

Phyllis: This is a better place to finish our conversation.

Nick: You're right. Private. Good call.

Phyllis: Thank you. What were we talking about?

Nick: I don't remember.

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] Oh, yeah. I'm gonna make you that drink.

Nick: I don't want a drink.

Phyllis: [ Exhales heavily ]

[ Dress unzipping ]

[ Both breathing heavily ] The shoes, the shoes.

Nick: Really?

Phyllis: Yeah. I mean, just no shoes on the bed.

Nick: We're following rules now?

Phyllis: Yeah. My only rule tonight.

Nick: Okay.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] It's my only rule tonight.

Lola: What was that?

Theo: Ah, just something I'm planning for new york, but i can't tell you.

Lola: Do you want to give me a hint?

Theo: No. Yes. But then it wouldn't be a surprise.

Lola: It would be a surprise now, and then I have something to look forward to.

Theo: Okay. Surprises are overrated anyways.

Lola: Spill it.

Theo: Okay. On the first day we get there, we'll get all the touristy stuff out of the way -- central park, the empire state building. Maybe we'll even take a ride on one of those double-decker tour buses.

Lola: Okay. Can we get those, um, "I heart new york" t-shirts?

Theo: Absolutely. And then on day two, I thought we'd walk across the brooklyn bridge, go to moma and the whitney. They have this great café on the eighth floor. We can get a glass of wine.

Lola: Sounds incredible.

Theo: And then we'll head across to this great pasta place on the river in dumbo. The view will knock your socks off.

Lola: [ Chuckles ]

Theo: Oh.

Lola: Oh. Hi.

Kyle: Hi. Sorry to interrupt.

Theo: Yeah, I'm sure you are.

Kyle: I, um, couldn't help overhearing, but, uh... new york, huh?

Lola: There it is. Enjoy.

Kyle: Thanks.

Theo: Let's just forget he was ever here.

Lola: Yeah.

Theo: Are you okay?

Lola: Yeah, I'm fine. Um, but I should probably get back to the kitchen.
