Victor: The truth is, ms. Williams has a vendetta against the newman family. She just wants to put a newman behind bars! It's a feather in her cap! I have a rare blood disease.

Nikki: Oh, my god.

Adam: All I want is to move as far away from genoa city as a I can get.

Nick: If we meet your demands.

Sharon: What is it that you want from me?

Adam: Can you honestly say that you feel absolutely nothing for me?

Kevin: You think she stopped coming around because she suddenly lost interest?

Adam: You have phyllis?

Kevin: You're gonna give chloe back to me.

Adam: I don't have her. And don't bother bringing up phyllis. I have no further use for the woman.

Summer: I'm at mom's room at the club, and something definitely has happened to her.

Nick: Summer is freaked out. I'm worried, too. Phyllis would never leave her suite without taking her keys and her tablet.

Paul: Well, you did the right thing, calling me.

Nick: At first, I thought she was just keeping a low profile, but I think something may have happened to her.

Paul: Yeah, you know what, you may be right. Take a look at this. This is surveillance footage in the hallway outside of phyllis' room. Watch. There. See? Someone has looped together footage of the empty hallway into the feed.

Nick: So something did happen to phyllis, and someone's trying to cover their track.

Paul: I've been trying to piece together phyllis' movements that night. I've talked to abby, summer, lauren. I even questioned adam.

Nick: What'd adam say?

Paul: [ Chuckles ] Nothing useful.

Nick: Because he doesn't know anything? Or because he does?

Paul: [ Sighs ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Adam: Please don't slam the door in my face, at least not till you hear what I have to say.

Victoria: I'm not ready to go back to reality yet.

Billy: Jamaica is our reality. Us on a secluded beach, making love under the stars... that's about as real as I'm ever gonna need.

Victoria: Yeah. Me, too.

Billy: What do you say we take a transition day to ease back in?

Victoria: Well, you know i would love that, but we both have a lot to deal with now that we're home.

Billy: Yeah.

Victoria: The rollout of the jabot collective?

Billy: And whatever your family's been up to since we've been gone.

Victoria: [ Gasps ]

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

[ Knocks on door ]

Victor: Come in! Well, now, look who came in.

Christine: I know what you're up to, victor. And it's hurtful, after everything we've been through.

Adam: I... look, I, um... I crossed the line, and -- and I'm sorry.

Sharon: Uh-huh. There are no unresolved feelings between us.

Adam: I know. I was wrong to have said that. You have been such a good friend to me. You're the only one I've got. And the last thing that I want to do is make you feel uncomfortable.

Sharon: Well, I'm trying to help you, but you make that hard.

Adam: I know. You have been so kind and generous. I, uh... I misread that. I know that you are happy. You're involved with someone, and, uh, I'm -- I'm a mess because of chelsea. I'm all over the place because of the way she cut me out of her life. I don't know what I was expecting. I just thought when she found out I was alive that she would do whatever it took to come back to me. When she didn't, I -- I grabbed on to you, you know? Emotionally. Because it just felt, you know... I just -- I hope I didn't screw things up between us.

Sharon: No, I still want to be your friend. I'm willing to talk, you know, but there just has to be boundaries.

Adam: Mm-hmm. Yeah, the last thing I want is to lose you. After you helped me get my memory back and you called chelsea for me. I, uh... I left her a voicemail, too, but it felt like I was just screaming into the abyss. You know? I know she and connor are out there somewhere, and it just hurts that they want nothing to do with me.

Sharon: I can understand that.

Adam: You know, I get her instinct to protect her new life, and with her new husband. I just can't stop thinking about connor, wondering what he's like now, you know, how much he's grown.

[ Sniffles ] It's just -- it's as though I'm stuck and lost and confused on what my life is, while everybody that i love is moving on without me.

Rey: No? I need to know what is going on here, sharon. What is really going on. Because walking in here and seeing him like that with you... I'm having a very hard time with that.

Kyle: Hey.

Summer: Hey.

Kyle: Billy isn't here yet? He didn't tell me why he wanted me in this meeting.

Summer: No, I -- I don't know why, either.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] It was not my idea to meet here.

Summer: No, I know. I -- I didn't think that.

Kyle: Okay.

Summer: Look, I'm a professional. We still work at the same place, so... it's fine.

Billy: Hey. Thank you both for coming. Appreciate it. Uh, listen, I know you're already working on the financial side of things, but you're an asset when it comes to marketing. So I want to pick both your brains about how we keep the momentum going for jabot collective in the social media space. How do we extend our outreach across other platforms? Are there other influencers we should be talking to? Sponsor tie-ins. That kind of thing.

Kyle: We might want to look at micro-influencers -- everyday people who have smaller followings but whose fans are dedicated and engaged.

Billy: Okay. Great.

Kyle: Hey. Hello? What's going on? It's like you're in outer space.

Kyle: What's wrong?

Summer: No, it's nothing.

Kyle: Oh, another late night of partying?

Summer: No.

Kyle: Look, I'm not the fun police, but after an all-nighter, you're not your best self the next morning.

Adam: You have everything under control? Nothing's happened that would raise suspicions? Good. I will give you further instructions soon. For now, keep her there. Let me know if she gives you any problems.

[ Sighs ] Chloe has a penchant for misbehaving.

Victor: So, now, what exactly do you think I'm up to? I mean, your accusation is rather vague.

Christine: Your lawsuit against the D.A.'S office and the gcpd.

Victor: Oh. My lawsuit against the gcpd and the D.A.'S office. Do you think it might have had to do with the bungled investigation of the J.T. Hellstrom case?

Christine: Victor, it was specious lawsuit about something that was put to bed months ago.

Victor: It may be in your rearview mirror, christine, but ain't in mine! I'm still haunted by the notion that your arrested my wife and my daughter!

Christine: Yes, and they got off with no jail time. Frankly, I think you should be thanking me.

Victor: Are you serious? You railroaded me and my family. I sat in that damn jail because your stupid, inept detectives believed in some planted evidence.

Christine: Why are you doing this?

Victor: Because this has done an enormous damage to my reputation, my family, and my business!

Christine: And this has nothing to do with the fact that I just launched my re-election campaign?

Victor: Damn right, it does! Oh! Your re-election campaign. Is that coming up now?

Christine: I just had a meeting with my biggest political donor who won't back my candidacy because of your lawsuit.

Victor: Oh, that breaks my heart.

Christine: Victor, it's vindictive, even for you.

Victor: Oh! Really? Vindictive, even for me? Do you think it has to do with your inept tenure?

Christine: Oh, my god.

Victor: Huh? As a D.A.?

Christine: Have you thought about what dredging all of this up will mean to your family? Victoria and nikki buried J.T. Because they thought they killed him. That is a very unfortunate and very unflattering fact.

Victor: And you didn't bring charges, did you? Once you found out hellstrom was still alive! You know why not? Because you didn't want an embarrassing fallout on your reputation, did you? You rather covered your behind!

Christine: That's not true.

Victor: Of course it's true! You know, you're gonna make a hell of an attack ad for your opponent. I think you and I have discussed this enough. You can show yourself out. Thank you.

Billy: This was good. It's important that we build off what we accomplished with the launch. It's also very important that we keep our a game.

Kyle: We're on it.

Billy: Thank you, both.

Kyle: Look, I know you love this job, so tell me -- what is going on?

Summer: I said it's nothing, okay? I'm fine.

Kyle: You waiting on a call, or something?

Summer: Look, I know that I'm a little off today, I'm sorry, but it's nothing that you have worry about, okay?

Kyle: Okay. I'm gonna go, then. We'll talk later?

Summer: Yeah, I'll see you later.

Kyle: Hey!

Lola: How was your meeting?

Kyle: I was pretty much a one-man band, but it was fine. Hey. Do you think you could come home between the lunch and dinner rush?

Lola: Maybe. Why?

Kyle: I'm not gonna tell you, but I promise it'll be worth your while.

Summer: Hey, dad, um, it's me. Just -- I don't know, I hoped that you heard something about mom, but even if you haven't, just call me, please. Okay. Bye.

Nick: Where is she?

Adam: Really need better security around here.

Nick: I'm right, aren't I? I suspected it all along.

Adam: Which is...?

Nick: You somehow convinced phyllis to hack into dark horse, and then coerced her into giving you my company financials, and, at the same time, she also coincidentally goes missing.

Adam: I heard. That's awful. But I haven't seen her in a couple days. Not that I have a reason to.

Nick: No one has seen her since she came to see you. And then somebody messed with the gcac security footage to cover up what happened. So I'm gonna ask you one last time. Where is she?

Adam: Why would I want to harm phyllis?

Nick: You tell me.

Adam: Okay, let's assume for a second that phyllis did hack into dark horse for me. This would be a lousy way to thank her.

Nick: You don't thank people. You get rid of them when they're no longer useful to you, and she is the only witness to your crime.

Adam: What crime? I didn't do anything to phyllis. But I have to ask -- why do you care? After everything that she's done to you. I heard about what happened between you two at the commitment ceremony. Frankly, I don't blame you. But you humiliated her so badly. I mean, who knows what you might have driven her to do?

Nick: She got into bed with you, that is not on me.

Adam: God, you guys have such a love-hate thing. Such a fine line.

Nick: You're damn right, it is, brother, but the difference is, we don't enjoy it the way you do. So us non-sociopaths, we don't relish screwing people over, especially members of our own family.

Adam: Do you really think I'm the only newman that's been busy screwing you over? Where do you think I got the money to take your company?

Nick: Who gave it to you? Dad?

Adam: Close. Dad in a dress.

Adam: Need some water?

Nick: Vick wouldn't give you a dime.

Adam: Mm.

[ Clears throat ] Well, a lot of dimes, actually. $50 million worth of her own money. And, I have to say, I'm impressed. That's how much she wanted me to go away.

Nick: But you didn'T.

Adam: Sadly, no. Turns out, she wasn't able to meet all of my demands. But I give her an a for effort. She was even able to give me chelsea's phone number. Not sure where she got it, but i can't imagine you signed off on that. She did all this behind your back. Not to overstep, but maybe you two aren't as close as you think you are.

Nick: Or maybe you just bring out the worst in everyone.

Sharon: What you walked in on was just a vulnerable moment.

Rey: Oh, that guy doesn't have a vulnerable bone in his body.

Sharon: He has just lost a big chunk of his life. He's trying to come to terms with the fact that everybody else has now moved on without him.

Rey: Yeah, including you?

Sharon: Yes.

Rey: You made that clear to him?

Sharon: I have.

Rey: Then he must be a little thick because I don't think he's getting the message. He keeps coming over here, you keep rushing over there. I don't like it, sharon.

Sharon: I'm just trying to help him come to terms with his feelings.

Rey: That's not your job.

Sharon: No, I know, but if i can help him get past his grief and his anger, maybe I can keep him from lashing out and doing something that he will regret.

Rey: He's already lashing out, and I don't see any regrets. He stole nick's company out from under him, and now he's trying to take his kid. He kidnapped faith!

Sharon: I told you...

Rey: You forgave him. But he keeps showing us who he is over and over. He is a predator, and he's dangerous. But you keep inviting him into our home, into our lives. So don't tell me I don't have anything to worry about!

[ Cellphone rings ]

Summer: Oh, my god. Thank god. Have you heard anything?

Nick: Well, I just spoke with paul again. He is doing everything he can.

Summer: Okay, what does that mean?

Nick: Look, summer, he doesn't know much, but we're gonna talk more about it when i get home, okay?

Summer: Yeah, okay.

Lola: Summer? Are you okay?

Summer: No, I'm -- I'm not okay. I'm -- I'm scared. Something's going on with my mom. She's been in a really bad place lately, and now we can't find her, and the last time that we spoke, we got in this huge fight, and it was brutal, and... if something happened to her, I would never be able to forgive myself.

Lola: Hey, this isn't your fault!

Summer: You don't know that.

Lola: Actually, I do. I know what it's like to worry about your mom when she's acting sporadic and on edge.

Victoria: Last known number

for chelsea.

You will take $50 million.

And you'll live

happily-ever-after.

That's plenty of money.

I've opened up an off-shore

account in your name, and I can

have the money wired there

within 24 hours.

Adam: All deals are off if

this number's a fake.

Victoria: I wouldn't waste my

time if it was.

Adam: Because I am only

interested in living that life

with my family, and that

includes christian.

Victoria: Christian belongs

with nick.

You made that decision a long

time ago when you tampered with

the dna tests.

You have an actual shot at

happiness with chelsea and

connor.

You were ready to leave town

with them before the explosion.

Sharon: I'm not making excuses for adam's behavior or turning a blind eye to it. What he did to nick was despicable and I told him so. It was the worst of who adam used to be.

Rey: No, who he is.

Sharon: Yes. You know, when he feels cornered, he falls into destructive patterns, and I'm just trying to offer him some guidance so he sees that he could make a different choice.

Rey: Okay, you are not his therapist, sharon. I did not walk in here seeing him lying on the couch telling you about his dreams. I found him in your arms.

Sharon: He needed --

Rey: I don't care what he needed! What was last night about?

Sharon: What? When we made love?

Rey: You were...

Sharon: Passionate?

Rey: Restless. Edgy. Not yourself. Like you were trying not to think about adam.

Sharon: That's not fair.

Rey: You're right, it's not. To me.

Sharon: Rey...

Rey: No, I have put up with this. I have tried to be understanding, I've made excuses, but, you know what, I've been here before. With mia. I know what this feeling is, and I am not ignoring this time.

Sharon: This is nothing like that!

Rey: Something is going on here, sharon. And you are either lying to yourself or you're lying to me. Either way, I cannot compete with it.

Sharon: Rey, please don't leave.

Christine: Hello.

Paul: Oh, hey! How was your day?

Christine: [ Sighs ] In a word, victor.

Paul: Oh. Enough said.

Christine: Yeah, I went to talk to him about the lawsuit, tried to reason with him...

Paul: Yeah.

Christine: I don't know what I was thinking. It's like he has a target on my back. Oh! Yours, too, by the way. The suit also names the police department.

Paul: Oh! Well, victor doesn't scare me.

Christine: Yeah, easy for you to say. You're not up for re-election.

Paul: Well, I tell you what. Let him spin his wheels, pay his lawyers, and if it comes down to it, the city will just settle with him. He'll get his big win and money he doesn't need, and he'll go away.

Christine: Okay, that's what worries me. This isn't about money. It's about revenge.

Paul: You are a good D.A. With a solid record. And the hellstrom case already got wall-to-wall news coverage. And the newmans hardly came off as innocent rubes. Do yourself a favor. Forget about them. At least for today.

Christine: I -- I don't know if I can.

Paul: Hmm. Well, I have something that might help. Don't go away.

Nick: I mean, you should have seen the look on adam's face. It was pure joy when he got to tell me that you stabbed me right in the back.

Victoria: All I did was negotiate with him to try to get him out of our lives.

Nick: You gave him $50 million.

Victoria: Of my own money.

Nick: Which he then used to buy my company, but dark horse was just a bargaining chip because he then try to trade that for my son.

Victoria: That's not what i wanted.

Nick: Really? Because you seemed pretty damn eager to meet all his demands. You stole chelsea's number out of my phone, vick!

Victoria: I told you how i felt about that. She deserved to know that he was alive! And they both deserve to be able to make their own choice about how to deal with it!

Nick: So you went behind my back, you deceived me, for what? What did you get out of it? Your little deal with adam, he used you! It did nothing but hurt me!

Victoria: Well, at least i did something. What was I supposed to do, nick? Was I supposed to just sit back and watch him wreak havoc in our lives? So I took the steps to try to get him to leave town.

Nick: You mean leave newman, right? Because that's what this is about. It's about you and your job and making sure that dad never hires adam over your head.

Victoria: Yes! Okay? I was thinking of myself! I was thinking about my dedication and my loyalty and all of the hard work that I have put in to this company! Look, maybe you don't care if our family company burns to the ground, but I do.

Nick: Well, that's what it is, right? It's what it's always going to be -- newman enterprises above all else. Above me. Above my company, my son. We're all just collateral damage in your climb to the top.

Victoria: No, that's not fair.

Nick: I don't understand why you can't let this go.

Victoria: Why would I do something like that? I have put my whole self into this company! I am done being patient and waiting my turn. I am done. I am the one who performs around here and get results but then gets pushed to the side and gets dismissed. For who? For adam? He has not one iota of loyalty towards newman enterprises or towards our father!

Nick: Don't you see? He's getting to you.

Victoria: Maybe so. But I deserve to be C.E.O. When dad steps down. And I'll be damned if I'm gonna let adam take that away from me.

Nick: [ Sighs ] This is what he wanted, to turn us against each other, and it's working.

Victoria: Well, he has helped me see the plain and simple truth, which is... I am the heir apparent of newman enterprises. Nobody but me.

Nick: Okay. You can have it.

Lola: My dad walked out on us while my mom was pregnant with me, so... she's the only parent I know. And she's my everything. I used to look up to her so much.

Summer: Yeah, I know the feeling.

Lola: But as I got older, I started to see the toll that my dad leaving took on her, like she really never got over it. And don't get me wrong, she was an incredible mother. Old-fashioned, strict. Oh, and she smothered us with love. But... underneath, there was always this rawness from an open wound that never quite healed.

Summer: Yeah, that's how my mom feels right now.-So wounded, like everything's being done to her.

Lola: Yeah, and that just makes you want to take care of her, I get it. You know, I still call my mom every single day to make sure She's okay. So I get it.

Summer: Where's your ring? I heard you two got engaged.

Lola: Yeah. It all happened suddenly.

Summer: Well, when he gets around to buying you one, we'll have to compare. Although, I'm sure that we have very different taste. Except in that one area.

Lola: I hope everything's okay with your mom. I'll see you around, summer.

Paul: Oops! Hey!

Christine: [ Laughs ] Oh, my god, what are you doing?

Paul: There. That's better.

Christine: Oh! When did you have time to plan this?

Paul: Well, you know, I was gonna surprise you this weekend, but, um, I thought, given the recent circumstances, we should move it up.

Christine: I cannot remember the last time I took an hour an did nothing but relax.

Paul: Well, considering that it's only gonna get more hectic with your campaign, I just think we need to remember this feeling. You know, we got to take time to decompress. Have a grape. [ Laughs ]

Christine: [ Laughs ] You're so right.

Paul: And just be with each other.

Christine: I agree. Hi!

Paul: Hi.

[ Both chuckle ]

Christine: And, um, victor's not gonna be able to sabotage me, right?

Paul: You know what, everything is gonna be fine. I believe in you. And have I mentioned that, um, I love you?

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Not in the last 4 minutes.

[ Laughs ] Have I mentioned how smart I am to have married you?

Paul: Oh, once or twice.

Christine: I really needed this, thank you.

Paul: You know, no matter what happens with our jobs or with victor or the campaign, we always have each other, right?

Christine: Yeah. Yes.

Christine: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: You heard me say that I want to be your heir apparent.

Victor: I did, mm-hmm.

Victoria: Well, I meant it, but you already know that.

Victor: We will continue this conversation another time, okay?

Victoria: Yes, of course we will.

Nikki: Oh! Hi, sweetheart. I hope we're not interrupting anything.

Victoria: No, it's okay. Am I interrupting something?

Victor: Nate is here to discuss some business, all right? I'm making a donation to the hospital to extend the ms wing.

Victoria: Okay, I'll leave you to it. But I do want to talk to you, dad.

Victor: All right. I trust you have the results of the first experimental treatment.

Nate: I do.

Victor: So, what do we do

Nate: Unfortunately, your body didn't respond to the treatments as well as we had hoped.

Victor: So, what do we do now?

Nikki: We tell the children what's going on. And, if you don't, I will.

Victor: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Hey.

Victoria: Hey.

Billy: Uh-oh. Looks like easing into our first day back was a no-go.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] It was more like an 8.0 on the richter scale. Nick found out about chelsea and the money that I gave adam. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to deal with him on my own.

Billy: You got tough when nick wouldn'T. I mean, there's no telling how chelsea's gonna react to finding out that adam is still alive. Maybe our mistake was actually believing that adam would leave town. And, yes, that puts nick in the middle. But adam went after him, not you, and there is no shame in protecting yourself. Don't ever second-guess that.

Lola: Kyle?

Kyle: I wanted to make sure I did it right this time. Lola. My life is divided into two parts -- before you and after -- the time when I was roaming around in the darkness and after you showed me the light. You've changed my life -- the way I look at this world... ...what it means to be in love. So... I am asking you officially.

Lola: Wait, hold on. Okay, go ahead.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Lola rosales, will you marry me?

Lola: Yes.

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Summer: Still no word about mom?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Don't worry. We're gonna find her.

Summer: Yeah. I'm sure that she'll just turn up with some crazy story that we'll all laugh about, right?

Nick: Yeah, sounds about right.

Summer: [ Sighs ]
