Episode #11633 ~ Nick fights to save his company; Rey stands his ground; Adam makes a confession.

Jack: Tessa, have you ever heard of a place called bright tomorrows home care center?

Tessa: Is that where you live? I would love to come see you there. I mean, maybe I could play for you and your friends?

Ashley: Would you like that?

Dina: I certainly would.

Adam: Phyllis isn't my girlfriend, so if you abducted her looking for a big payoff, I don't know what to tell you, kev.

Kevin: I'm looking for an even trade. Phyllis for chloe.

Sharon: As much as adam hurt me, I wouldn't be the woman that I am today without him. In a way, I owe adam my life.

Michael: Adam only bought dark horse to use as, uh, leverage, which didn't work. He has no interest in the company itself. I mean, if the price is right, he could turn a quick profit. Declare victory, and walk away with a semblance of his pride intact.

Nick: So what I need, then, is a white knight investor.

[ Knocks on door ]

Adam: I'm coming!

Sharon: What were you thinking?

Adam: [ Sighs ] Sharon.

Sharon: Tell me that nick misunderstood.

Adam: You heard about my offer.

Sharon: Your offer. You're making nick choose between his son and his company? How could you do that?

Adam: Just a simple, straightforward business transaction.

Sharon: You're bartering for a child.

Adam: My child. Hey, and if nick would have given up christian like he should have, I wouldn't have been pushed to these extremes, sharon.

Sharon: You gave up that little boy a long time ago.

Adam: And a lot has changed since then.

Sharon: Not for christian.

Adam: Mm.

Sharon: Nick is the only father that he's ever known. He's the only person that's made him feel loved and safe.

Adam: What, you don't think i can do that?

Sharon: I don't think you're willing to put his needs first. If you were, you wouldn't be doing this!

Adam: Maybe using dark horse to force nick's hand was wrong. But he is using every weapon in the newman arsenal to keep my son from me, so I had to do the same.

Dina: Oh!

Traci: Well, that was a lovely walk, wasn't it?

Jack: Yes, and those gardens are so beautiful.

Dina: You know, it reminds me of the tuileries in paris in the spring. Have you been?

Jack: I have.

Dina: Oh, really? And I went with you.

Jack: Well...

Traci: Have I mentioned how lovely your room is? It's so beautiful.

Dina: Well, it's, uh -- it's very comfortable.

Jack: So, how are you liking everything else -- the people, the food...?

Dina: Excuse me, but why are you asking me all these questions?

Traci: Well, because, you know, if something's wrong, we want to make sure it's right.

Dina: Why? I don't even know you.

Traci: Well, because you're a very sweet lady, and we just want you to be happy.

Dina: Oh, I just wish my children felt the same way.

Traci: I'm sure they do.

Dina: [ Chuckles ] No, they don'T. They brought me here and left me. And sometimes... I feel very lonely.

Jack: Well, I can do something about that.

Dina: What?

Jack: Any time you push it, day or night, you'll reach me. And we can talk, or I can come visit. But I don't want you to ever feel lonely again.

Jack: Why what?

Nick: Hey, phyllis, uh, it's me. Look, I know I said some pretty harsh things, and you may have done something stupid to get back at me, but, uh, enough with the ghost number, okay? Summer's worried sick. Now, I get it if you don't want to talk to me, but call your daughter, let her know you're okay. We all want to know you're okay.

Michael: [ Claps hands ]

Kevin: Michael! [ Grunts ]

Michael: Hey! Oh, it's so good to see you.

Kevin: Oh!

Michael: While I was surprised to get your phone call, I was even more surprised to find out that you were in town.

Kevin: Well, sit. Sit. I already got you coffee.

Michael: So... I take it that the kidnapping has already occurred.

Kevin: [ Coughs ]

Michael: Wow. Easy. It's not like I'm gonna call the cops on esther.

Kevin: Esther?

Michael: I assume that's who bella's with.

Kevin: Oh! [ Laughs ] Yeah. No, no. She's, um -- she's back in portland with her nanny.

Michael: Oh. I can't remember you ever coming down here without her.

Kevin: Well, you know, she's just happier there. She's got school and her friends.

Michael: Of course, of course. It's the perfect solution. Pay somebody to take care of your daughter when she could be with family and friends who love and miss her.

Lauren: Kev! I didn't realize you were in town!

Lauren: No, especially when phyllis is involved.

Kevin: What's she done now?

Paul: She's missing.

Jack: I don't want you worrying about me.

Dina: But it's true, you know. You are lonely.

Traci: Well, everyone gets lonely sometimes.

Dina: Uh... yes, but who are you, again?

Jack: I'm jack.

Dina: Jack. You know... you are so handsome. You are, and kind.

Dina: Oh... you know, someone like you should be married.

[ Giggles ] Don't you agree?

Traci: Well, I do agree that jack would make someone a wonderful husband.

Dina: Oh, yes.

Traci: When the time is right. And now, meanwhile, when you're alone, you can sort of find your center, you can find your peace. And, that way, when you do meet someone that you really care about, you can appreciate them even more.

Jack: Yes, it is. And wise.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Sorry, excuse me. Oh, I have to get to an appointment.

Traci: I have the whole afternoon free.

[ Knocks on door ] Come in!

Rey: Got your message. What's going on?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Summer went by phyllis' hotel room. She said she saw her tablet there and her keys, but no sign of her.

Rey: You think something happened?

Nick: Personally, I think phyllis is scared and she's just hiding out, but my daughter's really worried about her, so i want you to do whatever you can to track her down.

Rey: I'm on it. Anything else?

Nick: Look, rey, I'm gonna fight like hell to keep my company, but if I lose it, i still would like you to work for me.

Rey: Doing what?

Nick: I want to know every move adam makes before he makes it.

Rey: The job include hazard pay?

Nick: I understand if you want to stay on here.

Rey: I'm not interested in working for adam. Ever.

Sharon: I thought that you'd gotten past all this. Instead, you're still harboring all this resentment and hatred toward nick.

Adam: Yeah, well, when you lose a big chunk of your life, it causes you to rethink your choices.

Sharon: Guess I just hoped maybe you'd make better choices. Instead, you team up with phyllis, of all people.

Adam: Well, she was willing to do what no one else would.

Sharon: Yeah, she always is.

Adam: You weren't gonna help me get christian back. Nick is doing everything he can to stop me. Chelsea stole my other son. Even victor turned on me. All I want is to be a father to my sons. I thought you could understand that, but you are just like the rest of them.

Sharon: That's not true!

Adam: You said you were my friend, sharon.

Sharon: I am! Sometimes you make it damn hard to be that.

Adam: Wait. You never forgave me. You said you did, but you can'T. That's what this is. It's payback.

Sharon: That's not true!

Adam: No, I stole a child from you and nick, sharon! Why wouldn't you want to see me punished for that?

Sharon: Because i didn't think that it would help anything.

Adam: I don't care about anybody else. They can all damn me to hell, but what you think matters, sharon. Even if you never forgive me, I need you to believe that i will regret hurting you for the rest of my life.

Sharon: The only thing that should matter is your two sons. You need to forget about everything else and just put their needs first.

Adam: I am going to these extremes to prove how much i want to be a father. That doesn't mean I care any less about how you feel about me.

Paul: Why would she just disappear without telling anyone?

Michael: Phyllis has burned a lot of bridges. Maybe she decided to lay low for a while. Regroup.

Lauren: Plan her next attack?

Kevin: Sounds like phyllis.

Paul: Well, it still doesn't explain why she would leave her things behind.

Michael: What about her car?

Paul: It's in the gcac garage.

Michael: I suppose she could have used a car service or taken a taxi.

Lauren: I just wish she would call us and at least let us know that she's okay.

Michael: You know phyllis. She loves drama.

Paul: You know, kevin, i could really use your computer expertise on this one. I don't suppose you'd consider sticking around and helping me out, huh?

Kevin: I -- I wish I could, but I didn't realize how late it was. I have to meet esther.

Lauren: Oh, will you give her our love?

Kevin: Will do. And, uh, I hope you find phyllis.

Paul: [ Laughs ] No thanks to you.

Kevin: [ Chuckles ] Um, and, listen, keep your calendars open. I'm only in town for 48 hours.

Lauren: Okay.

Michael: We'll talk before you go.

Kevin: Yeah.

Dina: Oh, I love it that you're spending time with me.

Traci: Well, I enjoy it.

Dina: Oh! Uh, I'm sorry, what's your name again?

Traci: I'm traci.

Dina: Traci. Well, do you work here, traci?

Traci: No. In fact, I'm a writer, a novelist.

Dina: No kidding. I love reading stories.

Traci: Oh, good, well, I love writing them.

Traci: I'm working on a new one right now.

Nick: Well, before we get down to business, have you heard from phyllis?

Jack: I haven'T. I know summer's very worried about her.

Nick: I thought calling the police was overkill, you know, that maybe phyllis was just running from her mistakes.

Jack: Well, she's made quite a few of those lately.

Nick: Yeah. I'm feeling the effects of one of them right now.

Jack: That what you want to talk to me about?

Nick: I need a favor, jack. A big one.

Sharon: There's nothing left between us, adam. We hurt each other too much.

Adam: Well, that happens when we have the kind of powerful relationship that we did, sharon.

Sharon: We weren't good for each other.

Adam: Well, i don't believe that.

Sharon: You moved on. So did I. You built a life with chelsea and connor. If there are any unresolved feelings, they must be for her.

Adam: No, chelsea and I are finished.

Sharon: You put your heart and soul into that relationship. You built a life with her, a family. You can't just walk away from a love like that and close the door.

Adam: Mm. She did.

Sharon: She thought you were dead!

Adam: Oh, now she finds out I'm alive, she can't even be bothered to talk? Doesn't sound like love to me.

Sharon: She's just shocked, confused.

Adam: No, she's happy, sharon. She moved on, started a new life, like the one we had never existed.

Sharon: Well, I can't fill the void she left in your life.

Adam: Oh, I'd never use you like that.

Sharon: Then what is it you want from me?

Adam: The truth. Can you honestly say that you feel absolutely nothing for me?

Jack: Wait, he's threatening to call in the whole loan unless he gets christian?

Nick: I already told him -- no deal.

Jack: So what now?

Nick: Next move is his.

Jack: Well, we both can guess what that's gonna be.

Nick: I need $27 million, jack.

Jack: And you were hoping to secure a loan from jabot?

Nick: Look, it's a good investment. Dark horse has turned a very nice profit the last three quarters.

Jack: You don't have to sell me on dark horse. You know where things are with jabot right now.

Nick: Yeah, summer kind of filled me in.

Jack: Ashley's patent stunt left us strapped for cash.

Nick: I was worried about that.

Jack: I do have another suggestion.

Nick: Does it involve me putting my first through adam's face?

Jack: No, exactly the opposite. I'm suggesting you sit and talk, brother to brother.

Nick: Oh. Should we hold hands and sing "kumbaya" while we're at it?

Jack: Adam's whole like blew apart when that cabin exploded. He's just trying to put his life back together.

Nick: By stealing my son.

Jack: By reuniting with his. There is a chance you can both get what you want.

Nick: That would involve me trusting adam, and I will never do that again.

Jack: I know what it's like to try to run away from your family. Listen to me, it can't be done. It can'T.

Nick: Well, that may be true for you, but not for mE. You have an appointment, and i need to go find $27 million. Good luck with your family.

Jack: Thanks. Dan, it's jack. Uh, could we cancel this lunch appointment? Something's come up. Yeah. It's very important.

Lauren: The last time I saw phyllis was at the jabot collective launch party.

Paul: How was she?

Lauren: Furious.

Paul: With you?

Lauren: Me, everyone.

Paul: Did she have a specific gripe?

Lauren: Yeah. She feels like she was shoved out of the company that she gave all of herself to.

Michael: And we all know wronged phyllis is a dangerous phyllis.

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Paul: Yeah, tell me about it. Chris and I can attest to that.

Lauren: That's for sure. Look, I know that she has done some very questionable things, but she's still my friend, and I'm worried about her.

Michael: Listen. I hate to have to say it, but she creates a lot of her own problems.

Lauren: I get that, but i don't think that's the case this time.

Paul: What makes you say that?

Lauren: Well, the jabot launch wasn't the only party she crashed.

Paul: Oh, yeah, summer told me that she showed up uninvited to victoria and billy's commitment ceremony.

Lauren: Yeah. Did she tell you who she was with?

Paul: No.

Lauren: Adam newman.

Sharon: You can't just mess with my head like this, adam.

Adam: What, you think I'm playing games with you?

Sharon: I'm not the fragile person that I used to be, okay? I'm healthier now, I'm stronger, and you can't manipulate me like you used to.

Adam: I'm not trying to manipulate you, sharon.

Sharon: Okay, call it whatever you want. We can't go back and recreate something that never should have existed in the first place.

Adam: You don't mean that.

Sharon: Yes, I do. You and I, we were never meant to be.

Adam: What we had was real and true. It was deeper than anything you had with anybody else.

Sharon: You can't walk into my life and tell me how I feel.

Adam: Okay. Then tell me. Why did you insist I come back here?

Sharon: Because I thought you deserved to have your life back.

Adam: That is all that i want, sharon.

Sharon: I'm not your life, adam.

Adam: Well, you're a part of it.

Sharon: Okay, I used to be, in the past. That's done. It's over. At least it is for me.

Adam: I don't believe you.

Sharon: No, I'm -- I'm happy now.-I found what makes me happy.

Adam: Hmm. You think a boring life with some glorified security guard is gonna make you happy, sharon?

Sharon: How dare you. I should have left you in vegas.

Victor: Surprised to see you.

Nick: I need your help, or I'm gonna lose dark horse.

Victor: Huh. Must be desperate, to come to me for help.

Nick: You owe me this.

Victor: What do you mean, I owe you this? How do you figure that?

Nick: You brought adam back into our lives.

Victor: He the one trying to destroy your company?

Nick: He doesn't want my company. He wants to destroy this family, and I need your help to stop him.

Traci: I couldn't agree with you more.

Dina: Oh! Not only in books, but in real life, too.

Traci: [ Laughs ] Well, i suppose that's true.

Dina: Mm-hmm. So, tell me, who is this special man in your life?

[ Knocks on door ]

Traci: Um -- oh! Come in!

Tessa: Good time?

Traci: Oh! Tessa! Come in, come in!

Tessa: Hi!

Traci: Mother, you remember tessa.

Tessa: Hi!

Traci: Hi, sweetie.

Dina: Uh...

Tessa: Maybe this will help?

Dina: [ Gasps ] Oh, yes, it will! That's the park! [ Laughs ]

Rey: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn't see that in the forecast.

Sharon: What?

Rey: Tornado. Category 5, from what I can tell.

Sharon: Sorry. I just have a lot on my mind.

Rey: Is it anything I can help you with?

Sharon: [ Sighs ] I thought I told faith to clean up before she left.

Rey: Uh, yeah, she wanted to get to her friend'S. I said I'd take care of it.

Sharon: Did she at least bring her laundry down?

Rey: Yeah.

Sharon: Oh, well, I better get started on it. And then I need to go to the store and get food for dinner. Is there anything in particular that you would like? Oh, and what time does faith need picked up? Maybe I can just do that on the way back.

Rey: Hey, hey. Is everything okay?

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Yeah. It's fine. Everything's fine.

Rey: Are you sure?

[ Cellphone rings ]

Adam: Who'd you kidnap this time, kevin?

Kevin: Keep making jokes, adam. They'll be at phyllis' expense.

Adam: It is funny you think i give a damn about her.

Kevin: This is no bluff.

Adam: You're right, it's a felony. Class A. Which means being locked up for a very, very long time.

[ Knocks on door ] Don't you have a thing about small spaces? I'm gonna have to call you back.

Kevin: Adam, don't hang up on me!

Adam: What can I do for you, chief?

Paul: Adam. This is about phyllis. She's missing.

Adam: Come in. I think I can help you with that.

Victor: The boy for your company?

Nick: Probably sounds like a pretty good deal to you. You must be just so proud of adam.

Victor: I'm disappointed in both of you.

Nick: You can't blame me for this.

Victor: You never gave adam half a chance. If you had done that, you would have reached a compromise.

Nick: Adam didn't want a compromise. He wanted to use my company to force me to hand over my son. What kind of person thinks like that?

Victor: A desperate one.

Nick: Well, I'm not giving up christian for anything.

Victor: [ Sighs ] What if adam makes good on his threat and calls in the loan? What are you gonna do then?

Nick: Well, that depends.

Victor: Who'd you ask for money? Who else did you ask?

Nick: Dad, you are the only one who matters.

Victor: I'm sorry, but i can't help remembering the day you came to me and you said you were going to open dark horse, and then afterwards, you bragged to people that you'd broken into newman enterprises computer system, and then you poached some of my executives, and then you asked the rest of the family to join your company.

Nick: You tried to steal my son, too, just like adam.

Victor: Because you disrespected me. And you disrespected what i tried to build -- a legacy for my children and grandchildren. Why? Because you said you wanted to stand on your own two feet! Now you're asking me to save you.

Nick: You want me to grovel, beg for forgiveness?

Victor: I want you to see this as an opportunity.

Nick: Are you gonna help me or not?

Victor: I'm not going to give you money. But I will leave the doors wide open. You can walk in any day, any time, and say, "dad, I'm here to rejoin newman enterprises," because this, son, is where you belong.

Nick: I'm in the fight of my life, and you're using it to impose your will. I don't know why I'm surprised.

Victor: That I would want you by my side?

Nick: That you still don't understand who I am.

Victor: I know you better than you realize.

Nick: You don't know anything about me if you thought I'd consider for one second coming back to newman.

Victor: When you reach the point in your life where I'm now, you will look back at this moment, hopefully, and judge me less harshly.

Nick: I was an idiot for thinking you'd want to help me. All you care about is winning. It is the most important thing to you.

Victor: In this case, you couldn't be more wrong.

Nick: You are willing to risk and lose everything to a selfish, backstabbing bastard who doesn't give a damn about anything but himself.

Victor: How can any of what you're asking me now be less selfish? Huh? You tried to destroy my company. Whatever you stole from me, you used to create your own legacy. Now you're asking me to save you.

Nick: Everything I did was for my family.

Victor: Oh, where are they now? Summer's with the damn abbotts, and noah's working for you, but thousands of miles away!

Nick: I let my kids choose their own path. I don't test their love for me.

Victor: You and victoria used to accuse me of that. And now you're coming here and you're testing me by demanding that I side with you over your brother.

Nick: Coming here was a mistake.

Paul: What, you're leaving already?

Adam: Oh, this was just temporary.

Paul: Wow. Victor goes to all this trouble to bring you back into town. I thought you would stay a while.

Adam: Well, dad loves to have people in his debt, especially his kids. I prefer to pay my own way.

Paul: Where you headed?

Adam: Athletic club. Till I find a place.

Paul: Really?

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Paul: Phyllis has a room there.

Adam: Hmm. Does she?

Paul: You said you had information about her. I heard that, uh, you two had gotten close.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] You need better informants, chief.

Paul: I do? You've been seen together.

Adam: We bumped into each other a couple times. Literally once. Well, almost.

Paul: [ Chuckles ] What does that mean?

Adam: It was a near fender-bender on the road the other night. We probably should have reported it, but phyllis and I don't always obey the rules.

Paul: Or the law.

Adam: Mm. You, uh, wanted to know about phyllis.

Paul: She was seen at victoria and billy's commitment ceremony. With you.

Adam: Mm. Guilty. Of attending my sister's tacky new-agey, deconstructed, non-wedding. With phyllis.

Paul: So, do you have any idea where she is now?

Adam: I wish I could help you, but I haven't heard from phyllis since that day.

Sharon: Yeah. Just have so much to do. I haven't dusted or vacuumed in ages. I told faith we would paint her room this summer. Haven't even picked out a color. And that laundry didn't do itself while we were taking that little break.
