Victoria: All of the meaning and fun with, um, none of the paperwork.

Victoria: This is the perfect start for the big day.

Nick: Well, I thought we should do something to commemorate your non-wedding. I mean, it's not every day your sister bucks tradition.

Victoria: I figure why, uh -- why repeating history when you're looking for a new beginning?

Nikki: [ Chuckles ] Well, i think it's very romantic, sweetheart.

Abby: Me, too. A piece of paper is just that. You either want to commit to each other, or you don'T.

Victoria: Exactly.

Nick: Vick, after everything you've been through, I'm just thrilled that you've been able to find happiness again.

Billy: This? This isn't happening.

Adam: [ Sighs ] What? Me popping in for a bite to eat? Seems like a perfectly normal thing to do.

Summer: Good morning.

Theo: Morning.

Theo: How you feeling?

Summer: Oh! Oh, yeah, um, a little hungover, but nothing I can't handle. You?

Theo: A couple of aspirin, I'll be good as new.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Um, are we...?

Theo: Feeling like this was a mistake and want to get out of here as fast as possible but we don't know where our pants are?

Summer: Yeah.

Theo: Not at all. I thought last night was incredible. You?

Summer: It was really fun. Exactly what I needed.

Theo: Are you hungry? Because I could handle my new york business from here today, and we could hang out.

Summer: Mm. Yeah. That sounds good. You know what, and I may have just the perfect thing for us to do today.

Adam: Oh, a commitment ceremony. Hmm. I didn't realize you two were that serious. I assume my invitation got lost?

Billy: You weren't invited.

Adam: Oh. Well, that's a shame. Because I mean no harm to either of you. Did victoria tell you I'm not coming back to newman?

Billy: She did, yeah. And, trust me, we believe you and all is forgiven.

Adam: Oh, well, victoria's the one that should follow in dad's footsteps. You know, she wants it more, and I want to branch out, do my own thing.

Billy: Yeah, maybe. Or maybe you realize she'll beat you at your own game.

Adam: Mm. No, doubt, she's formidable. She listened to my terms, came back with a counter offer that served her needs and mine. It's actually nick and dad who have let me down.

Billy: Oh, they disappointed you, did they?

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Billy: You're about as narcissistic as they come. I'm not doing this, adam. I'm not going back and forth with you. The people that victoria consider family and love are gonna be here very soon. So you need to start walking. And don't stop until you hit lake michigan, you hear me?

Adam: No problem. Congratulations. I hope the day is everything you imagined.

Victor: By the way, doc, I appreciate you handling this here.

Nate: You didn't exactly give me a choice. I would have preferred to do it at the hospital, especially since it's your first treatment.

Victor: Well, I'm not about to be seen walking in and out of memorial hospital. I want this to be kept private, all right?

Nate: I'm sorry about the text abby saw. But she's suspicious now, and it's not gonna be easy to hide.

Victor: I will put her fears to rest, okay? And I want you to do the same.

Nate: I would never break confidentiality. But I don't think you should keep this a secret. You're about to face an uphill battle and could use support from the people who love you.

Victor: I know what I'm facing. And, for your information, I'm not someone who shies away from a fight when someone tells me i can't win. For now, I want to keep this private. The treatment may end up working, and no one will have to know about it.

Nikki: I should call your father, make sure he's not running late.

Victoria: I'm sure he'd love pto find an excuse not to come.

Nick: Or he'll show up at the park and conveniently forget that you changed the venue to society.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ]

Nikki: Oh, now, stop it, you two. Your father loves you. He'll be there. And I'll make sure he's on his best behavior.

Victoria: Thank you.

Abby: Um, actually, um, I left my phone in the car, so i will walk you out.

Nikki: Okay.

Nick: Bye.

Abby: Um, you know, I didn't leave my phone in the car. I wanted to talk to you about something without worrying nick and victoria.

Nikki: Okay...

Abby: Is dad all right?

Nikki: He's fine. Why?

Abby: I'm just worried there's something going on with him, health-wise.

Nikki: Why would you think that?

Abby: I saw a text on nate's phone. It was from dad. He was talking about starting some kind of treatment?

Nikki: What kind? For what?

Nikki: I don't know. Nate wouldn't tell me, and when I asked dad about it, he said he pulled a muscle.

Nikki: Well, he has mentioned anything like that to me.

Abby: And if that's all it was, I feel like nate would have just told me, but he didn't, and there was some kind of weird vibe between nate and dad. I'm worried that there's something serious going on. Do you think you could find out?

Adam: Well, you should because we're gonna do great things together. If we have a deal.

Phyllis: I gave a lot of thought to what you said, and... although I could really use a million dollars... I'm gonna turn you down.

Adam: Huh. Monkey wrench. You know, it's a lot of cash for a small favor.

Phyllis: Small favor. Hacking into dark horse is a crime.

Adam: Mm. It wouldn't be your first, phyllis.

Phyllis: I'm an angel compared to you. Why don't you tell me why you need this financial information? Are you staging a hostile takeover?

Adam: What? Come on, who's hostile?

Phyllis: Nick and I may not be in a very good place right now, but I am not gonna help hand over his company to you.

Adam: Look, I'm not out to hurt nick. Dark horse is just a means to a much, much greater end.

Victoria: I better finish getting ready. Don't want to keep billy waiting.

Nick: Yeah, I got to make sure monique's set with the kids.

Abby: Wait, um, hang on a second. Can I say something? I know this has been a challenging time with adam coming back and our issues with dad, but... today is a time-out from all of that. We get to celebrate you and billy and remember that we're a family. No matter what tomorrow may bring, we're lucky to have each other.

Nick: Yeah. A time-out could do us all some good.

Nikki: So, um... abby says you might be having some health issues, and she's concerned that they're more serious than you're letting on.

Victor: I wish she hadn't told you. For heaven's sake, I'm fine! Don't I look fine?

Nikki: If you had pulled a muscle, why didn't you even mention that to me?

Victor: Well, why would i mention something that minor to you?

Nikki: Okay, now you're answering my questions with more questions, and that makes me think that you don't want to lie, but you don't want to tell me the truth, either, and that's even more unsettling.

Victor: Baby...

Nikki: I know that I married a very prideful man, but, victor, this gets tiresome. I want to know what's going on, and I'm not gonna accept your vague evasive answers like what you do regarding anything having to do with adam.

Victor: Well, you know, that was extenuating circumstances.

Nikki: Victor, I'm your wife, and nothing hurts me more than when you shut me out. So... if there is nothing seriously wrong with you... look me in the eyes and say so.

Victor: All right. I'll tell you everything. Let's have a seat. (Announcer) do you push through migraine?

Victor: I have a rare blood disease.

Nikki: Oh, my god.

Victor: There's a long technical name to it -- pnh, or something like that. It's a disease where something destroys the red blood cells in my own body.

Nikki: Oh! That sounds bad. Terrible, actually.

Victor: Yeah.

[ Sighs ] It's life-threatening, but, um... I'm optimistic, you know? Dr. Hastings was just here and gave me my first treatment right here in my office.

Nikki: Is there a cure? I mean, what are the chances that you will make a full recovery?

Victor: It's a long uphill battle. But I'll beat it.

Nikki: Of course you will, darling. But I want to know your treatment schedule. We will do this together. I -- I hate that you've been carrying this burden alone. When did you find out?

Victor: When I found out that adam was still alive.

Nikki: Okay, so... that's part of why you were so determined to bring him back home.

Victor: Yeah. I just wanted to right the wrongs between adam and me. And I want my children by my side.

Nikki: Well, then, we should obviously tell them.

Victor: No. No, no, no. Don't tell them. Please don't tell them, my sweetheart. I don't want this illness to define me.

Nikki: Darling, now is not the time to be stubborn.

Victor: Yeah. Anyway, I don't want to talk to anyone about this. Please respect my wishes, okay?

Nikki: I don't know that that's the best course of action, but... I'll keep it between us. For now.

Victor: [ Sighs ] Okay, my sweetheart. I love you.

Billy: Oh, my -- you look just like you.

Victoria: You look like... you.

[ Chuckles ]

Billy: Mm! Hi, you two! You ready for mommy and daddy's big party?

Victoria: I thought that maybe mom and dad would be here by now.

Nick: Oh, don't look too far into it. Mom probably has to drag dad away from his desk.

Summer: I know that this isn't how you thought we'd spend the day.

Theo: I don't mind. My game's usually a little more on point than this, but I would have followed you anywhere today.

Summer: Yeah, you probably shouldn't have told me that because I am definitely gonna use that to my advantage.

Theo: Why are we being so honest?

Summer: I don't know.

Theo: Maybe I should go and get us a drink before I start telling you my deepest secrets.

Summer: Yeah.

Kyle: Hey. Just wanted to see how you're doing after whatever that was last night.

Summer: Uh, well, it's calling blowing off steam and having some fun.

Kyle: I think it was more than that.

Summer: But you're not my shrink.

Kyle: Just seeing if you're all right.

Summer: Yeah. Yeah, no, I mean, I'm fantastic. Last night was a win-win. I got to show natalia a great time, and I got to know theo a whole lot better.

Kyle: Okay. If you say you're good, you're good. I'm walking away now.

Summer: Okay.

Billy: Are you ready for your big moment later?

Johnny: Yeah!

Katie: Yeah!

Billy: Mommy and daddy are really excited for your surprise.

Nick: And if I ever get married again, you are gonna be my best man because that's what you are. You're the best little man in the world.

Billy: Hey, I think, uh, auntie abby said there's cookies in the kitchen. You want to go grab one or two?

Yeah!

Billy: Okay, cool. Have three or four. It's a party.

Nick: Cookies!

Abby: Yummy yummy! Let's get some.

Billy: I'll see you in a little bit.

Nick: Hey, you guys, bring me one.

Abby: [ Laughs ]

Billy: I don't know what i would do if somebody was coming after katie or johnny.

Nick: Yeah, you do. You'd do the same as me.

Billy: I'm sorry you're going through this, man. But you know adam -- he only thinks about himself.

Nick: Look let's not do that, all right? Today is about you and vick. If we talk about adam, then he wins.

Adam: I don't give a damn about running dark horse. I want to use it as leverage.

Phyllis: Against nick. To get custody of christian.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: It's a low blow, even for you.

Adam: Oh, on the contrary. I think it is a proportional response, given the fact that he is trying to cut me out of my son's life. He thinks he can just say no and I'll lie down and take it. That's not how this works.

Phyllis: Look, even if you get control of dark horse, do you think he's gonna give you christian like it's some kind of bargaining chip?

Adam: Maybe not. But this -- this will get his attention, serve as a wake-up call to show him how far I am willing to go.

Phyllis: You're talking about his kid. This particular tactic is too far.

Adam: First of all, my kid. And is it? You know what it's like, phyllis, being on the outside looking in, seeing what should be yours but not being able to quite reach it. Because the abbotts shoved you out of the way. They're willing to stab you in the back in a flash because you dared to fight for what you deserved, and you're the villain.

Phyllis: I admit, I resent being looked at like the devil when they're far from being saints.

Adam: My family treats me the same way. They praise my talent and passion when it works for them, then they cast me out when it no longer serves their purposes. Both the abbotts and the newmans will always treat us like pariahs. Until if or when we teach them a lesson.

Phyllis: We're in agreement there.

Adam: So I have an idea, which I think will make a statement, show them we won't be ignored. And maybe, just maybe, we'll have a little fun along the way.

Phyllis: Before you tell me what it is, I want us to be very clear. I know you're manipulating my emotions. And this "evil genius" schtick you got going on is getting on my nerves. But why don't you tell me what you have in mind?

Summer: Dad, this is theo. Theo, this is my dad.

Theo: Nice to meet you, sir.

Nick: All right. Can you excuse us for a second? I need to talk to my daughter.

Theo: Of course.

Nick: What the hell are you doing?

Summer: What? I brought a nice guy as my date.

Nick: To a small family event like this? I mean, are you doing this, summer, to make kyle jealous, or are you starting a new relationship?

Summer: I don't know yet.

Nick: Well, I hope it's not a rebound thing because, from experience, those never work.

Summer: I'm not rushing into anything. I'm just having fun. So be happy for me, okay?

Billy: Hi.

Victoria: We weren't sure that you two would make it.

Victor: Why would you think that?

Victoria: Oh, well, you know, the last conversation that we had wasn't very pleasant. And given your long history of...

Billy: Despising me. No reason to tip-toe around it. It's all good.

Victor: In spite of my reservations about billy boy, and in spite of the disagreements you and I have had... you're my daughter, okay? And I want you to be happy. Now, if this is what makes you happy...

Victoria: It is.

Victor: Well, then I won't object.

Victoria: You know what, that's another good reason to have a commitment party. There's nothing to object to.

Billy: Everyone's here. We should get started.

Victor: Let's have a seat over there, my darling, okay?

Victoria: Hi, everyone.

Billy: Hey.

Victoria: Thank you so much for coming. We would love it if you would gather around.

Billy: Come on in.

Victoria: Kids, come up here. Come on.

[ Laughter ] We wanted to get everyone together so that we could celebrate our love and commitment for one another.

Billy: Yes, we have been married. We have been not married. We have been together and apart. All of it feels like a journey to this moment right here. And I know we've done a version of this at some point. But nothing feels as right as

not being married to you today.

[ Laughter ] The woman that I love.

Victoria: Well, our family is defined by our devotion and the future that we have planned. And the love that we have for the sweetest kids here on the planet.

Billy: That's right. And we've done rings. We've done tattoos.

Kyle: I heard he was back, but seeing him in the flesh is kind of strange.

Kyle: Him showing up to start trouble is no surprise.

Phyllis: A commitment ceremony? Victoria knows this is gonna crash and burn. She is sparing herself the humiliation of a third divorce.

Billy: You know, phyllis, your wall of anger is solid, but this miserable loneliness is shining through.

Phyllis: You're both gonna end up as miserable and lonely as I supposedly am because you sabotage and you self-destruct. That's what you do to every bond you have ever had.

Billy: Oh, no. No, that sounds exactly like you, if you add pathetic and vindictive. What are you doing? Bringing the one man here that i can't stand to see. What happened to you? What happened to the woman that I knew?

Phyllis: You know what, she's gone. You, the abbotts, every single person who's betrayed me beat that woman to death. So what you see now is a woman rising like a phoenix from the ashes.

Billy: Get out. Go home. Go anywhere, I don't care. And take your sidekick with you.

Victor: Why would you do this? With phyllis, of all people? Hmm?

Adam: Well, I thought you'd be happy I came.

Victor: It's all a joke to you? After I've done everything in my power to bring this family back together again. After handing you the keys to newman enterprises, you spit in my face? After everything I've done...

Adam: They're not threats. Facts.

Adam: Oh! Cave man. Strong. That is the problem with you, nick. You're always playing checkers.

Nick: No, it's all right. I'm just giving my brother here the option on how he would like to leave -- either on his own two feet or at the tip of my shoe.

Billy: One intruder down, one to go.

Traci: Honey, do you want me to go talk to phyllis?

Billy: No. No, I don't want you to get in the middle of it. Thank you, though. Abby, how are the kids?

Abby: They're with their grandparents.

Billy: Thank you. You know, I can't help but wonder what twisted mind came up with this idea? Was it adam or phyllis to come here today?

Victoria: Hey! Shh, hey, look at me. It's okay.

Billy: Vick, it's not okay. They just --

Victoria: It's okay. Adam and phyllis did not ruin our day. I got to profess my love to you in front of the kids and everyone that we care about. So let them fester in their negativity. They're irrelevant to our big picture. Nobody's gonna come between us again, okay?

Billy: I love you so much.

Victoria: I love you.

Summer: Mom. What are you --

Phyllis: I have more to say.

Summer: No, you do not. What you did last night was bad enough. This is even worse.

Phyllis: I don't want to hear it.

Summer: Well, you know what, you're going to because, mom, i know that you are hurt, but this has to stop. You are making a fool of yourself, and you are burning every bridge that you have, and it is breaking my heart.

Phyllis: Yeah, and you feel sorry for me?

Summer: You know what, they should have kicked you out the second that you walked in with adam.

Phyllis: Really? That is perfect. You're siding with the abbotts over your mother. After what kyle did to you, throwing you out the way he did.

Summer: It was not like that, and you know it.

Phyllis: Why can't you see? The abbotts are fickle. They're opportunists. They're only loyal to themselves. And make no mistake, billy and jack will leave you like road kill the minute you overstay your welcome. They will make you the fall guy and blame you for their mistakes. And when they do -- and, believe me, they will -- who are you gonna have left besides me?

Nick: She'll have me.

Phyllis: Nick, you need to stay out of this.

Nick: You know that's not gonna happen. What's going on?

Summer: Well, mom decided to launch a jabot collective knock-off company to get revenge against the abbotts.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I'll take it from here.

Summer: Mom, just --

Phyllis: We'll talk later.

Nick: When are you gonna quit lashing out and dragging your daughter into your quest for revenge?

Phyllis: You're gonna lecture me on revenge? Why don't you tell me why you think you're better than me, or for adam, for that sake?

Nick: Don't drag him into this.

Phyllis: No, really, tell me. Why are you so sure that you're the good brother and he's the bad seed?

Nick: If you can't tell the difference between me and adam, then you have lost all grip on reality.

Phyllis: Adam and I are judged on a whole different scale than everybody else. I'm just saying that his point of view, I agree with, on certain things.

Nick: Well, it's because you're pretty much the same person. You know, you always view yourself as victims, never the attackers. You're able to do mental gymnastics to justify your actions, whether it's beating a murder charge or destroying your daughter's career.

Phyllis: I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Nick: No, actually, I'm onto something here. You and adam are two of a kind. You are selfish and immoral, and you don't give a damn who you hurt. I mean, take a look around this room. Look around. Do you see any friendly faces? It's because they all know what I'm saying is true. We all see you and adam for who you really are, phyllis. How does that feel? You try hard,

Traci: And I'm so happy that you didn't let that whole phyllis and adam thing dampen your spirits.

Nikki: I spoke with your father, and I got answers. And all I can say is... everything is going to be fine.

Kyle: Well, just because you're back here doesn't mean you can't partake in the festivities.

Lola: I peeked my head in, saw most of the ceremony.

Kyle: Really?

Lola: Mm-hmm. I admire billy and victoria. They've been through so much, and, yet, here they are, still in love.

Kyle: Mm, and the way they handled today is impressive, cut out all the background noise and just focused on the moment.

Lola: I loved what they said to each other and the gifts that the kids made them. What are you doing?

Kyle: Give me your hand. I promise to never let anyone come between us.

Lola: And I promise...

Kyle: Oh! Mm.

Lola: ...To never...

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Lola: ...Let the little things get in the way of our big picture.

Lola: I can't imagine my life without you.

Lola: What do you mean?

Kyle: If we both know we want to spend the rest of our lives together, why wait? What I'm saying is... marry me.

Nick: I shouldn't let adam get to me, but he starts talking about christian, and I just see red.

Jack: It's understandable.

Nick: And phyllis -- I mean, she's gone off the deep end. I didn't want to cause a scene.

Jack: Yeah, sometimes, she forces you to.

Nick: Yeah.

Jack: Hey, look, they're both gone. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Nick: But for how long?

Phyllis: You were right about everything.

Adam: Well, I usually am.

Phyllis: Yeah, well... I'm all in.
