Victoria: I want to be together, but I don't want to put a label on it.

Adam: It was stupid to think that random meetings with people I supposedly knew here would trigger my memory. I am going back to vegas.

Victor: You've hardly been here for a day.

Adam: We're done.

[ Gunshot ]

[ Gunshot ]

Sharon: Adam!

Adam: [ Gasping ]

[ Groaning ]

Phyllis: Perfect.

Kyle: Between the concept, our marketing strategy, and this sweet logo, our competitors aren't gonna know what hit 'em.

Jack: Including ashley.

Kyle: Mm. You did it, dad. You turned this into something bold and completely unique.

Jack: There is nothing else out there like it.

Victoria: [ Breathing hard ]

Billy: [ Sighs ] Happy engagement day.

Victoria: Yeah. We should not get engaged more often.

Billy: I didn't think it could get better than the real thing.

Victoria: Does that mean you're okay with not tying the knot?

Billy: Ohh. It means I missed you, miss newman.

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: Do you really want to delve into how I feel about adam?

Billy: He's hoping his amnesia rubs off on the rest of us.

Victoria: I just wish i didn't have to deal with any of this.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Well, I don't think you'll be having to deal with it for much longer.

Victoria: What is that supposed to mean?

Billy: I still lay odds that he's not sticking around.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] If he does?

Billy: Don't trust him. Not for a second.

Sharon: Oh, my god! Adam!

[ Adam groans ] Adam, can you hear me?

Adam: [ Mumbles ]

Sharon: It's okay. I'm here. No, no. Don't -- don't try to talk, okay? I -- I'm gonna get you some help. Um... I need an ambulance at the newman ranch. It's 421 larkspur trail, highway B. Um, the tack house, near the stables. A man's been shot. Please hurry. Okay. Okay. They're on their way.

Adam: [ Groans softly ]

Sharon: Adam? Adam, no, no, no, no. No. Stay with me, okay?

Adam: I can'T.

Sharon: Yes, you can. Just hang on. I'm not gonna let someone take your life away from you right when you're just about to get it back. Please hang on.

Adam: [ Gasping ]

Phyllis: Well, he's a lot less forgiving than you are.

Summer: Okay, well, I can talk to him.

Phyllis: Quit your job and come work with me.

Sharon: Adam, it's gonna be okay.

Nate: Bring him in here! Get me a cbc, type and cross, and a fresh set of vitals. We need to get him to an O.R. Stat.

Paul: Sharon. I just heard they brought in adam newman?

Sharon: I-I found him. I called the paramedics.

Paul: So it's true. He's alive.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Oh, god. Please let him stay that way. Victor!

Victor: How did this happen?

Sharon: I don't know. I heard a gunshot. I ran to the tack house, and I found him there, laying on the floor, bleeding.

Victor: Doc, how's my son?

Nate: I won't know until i get him into surgery.

Victor: Just one second. Listen to me. Don't you die on me, do you understand? I can't go through this again. Do you hear?

Nick: Oh, there we go! The stegosaurus is taking on the mighty T. Rex! Ohhh! It's not looking good. But we still have the vicious but tiny pterodactyls coming in.

[ Screeches ] Ohh, no! Oh! I guess the bully is gonna win this time. But he doesn't always win.

[ Clicks tongue ]

[ Cellphone chimes ] Speaking of which...

Billy: Don't let him get to you.

Victoria: It's hard not to.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Adam has nothing on you. You're smarter. You're stronger. And you have one thing that he will never have -- a soul.

Victoria: Well, that may give him an edge in my father's eyes. At least when it comes to business.

Billy: If your father values adam over you, then he's a son of a bitch.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Victoria: It's dad. He wants me to call him. He says it's urgent.

Billy: See? He's turning to you already.

Victoria: You go ahead. I-I'll see you later, okay?

Billy: Good luck.

Victor: Sweetheart?

Victoria: Dad. What is it? What's wrong?

Victor: [ Sighs ] Adam has been shot.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Is he okay?

Victor: He's in surgery right now.

Victoria: I'll be right there.

Victor: [ Sighs heavily ] Who did this to my son?

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Are you high?

Phyllis: Think about it. We'd be a mother/daughter powerhouse.

Summer: Okay, so just -- I'm sorry -- quit my job at jabot to come join your startup?

Phyllis: Jabot is yesterday. What we would be creating is new and fresh. You know a-a-a -- a -- a legacy for future generations of our family.

Summer: Okay, yeah, it sounds very poetic. But, mom, wasn't it just last week you were telling me not to let kyle force me to give up my job?

Phyllis: And you didn'T. You stood your ground. You -- you made your point, and now you're gonna be acting from a position of strength.

Summer: No, it feels more like I'm being manipulated.

Phyllis: Honey [Sighs] Your best interests are at heart.

Summer: Really? So even when you convinced me to keep my job at jabot?

Phyllis: Yeah.

Summer: Mom, just admit it. The only reason you wanted me to stay was so that I could spy for you.

Phyllis: If you work for me, the company we create will be yours one day. You'll be C.E. Everything. That would never happen at jabot.

Summer: Just because you couldn't make it work doesn't mean that I can'T.

Phyllis: No one other than an abbott will run jabot. Uh, correction -- an abbott man. Even ashley couldn't make it work with jack, billy, and kyle.

Summer: Okay. I'm not ashley or you.

Phyllis: Well, you're not one of them, either. Those three will hold you back from your true potential. Because it is always about them.

Kyle: I want to start using influencers to target specific buyers.

Jack: How?

Kyle: By pairing each with a platform that will yield maximum sales results.

Jack: And how do we accomplish that?

Kyle: Well...

[ Sighs ] See this? She's huge on youtube. We'll have her post unboxing videos, then use her name as a code for a discount.

Jack: Hmm.

Kyle: What's wrong?

Jack: No-nothing. I j-- everything's great to this point. I just... I wonder if we're utilizing your skills the best way we can.

Jack: Well, uh... kind of strange to waste a harvard mba on stalking people in social media.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Not exactly what I've been doing.

Kyle: Actually, I don'T. But I have an idea where this is coming from.

Kyle: No, don't bother, dad. I know a summer scheme when I see one.

[ Door opens ]

Billy: News flash. Make it a bomb.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Seems to be the day for that.

Billy: Yeah, well, try and top this. Adam "satan" newman -- turns out he survived the inferno that he was trapped in a few years ago.

Jack: What?!

Billy: Yeah. The guy's alive.

Jack: N-- that can't be. That -- there's just got to be --

Billy: Jack, I looked at him. I saw him with my own eyes. Trust me, he's alive.

Jack: Wh-where is he? I want to see him.

Billy: Well, sorry to disappoint you, but your big reunion's not gonna happen.

Jack: Why?

Billy: Because he's claiming he has amnesia. Doesn't remember anything before the cabin went kaboom.

Kyle: Lost memory. Not very original.

Billy: Not at all. But very adam.

Jack: You think he's lying?

Billy: I think he's capable of anythinG.

Jack: Faking amnesia?

Billy: Right. Who would do such a thing? Oh, I know -- the same person that would fake his own death.

Sharon: The door was open when I got there. Adam was lying on the floor, bleeding.

Paul: Was he conscious?

Sharon: Barely.

Paul: Did he say anything?

Sharon: Only my name. But I told him to try not to speak.

Paul: You didn't want to find out who shot him?

Sharon: All I cared about was keeping him alive. I called 911, and I kept pressure on the wound until they got there.

Paul: Mm-hmm. Okay, so, you were at your place, you heard the gunshot, you ran to the tack house, you saw adam, and you called for help.

Sharon: Yes.

Paul: You haven't left anything out?

Sharon: You don't believe me?

Paul: Sharon, it wouldn't be the first time you haven't been completely honest with me, right?

Sharon: This is nothing like what happened with J.T.

Paul: I see one similarity.

Sharon: I would never hurt adam.

Paul: Okay. I'm just trying to get all the facts.

Victor: Paul, kindly stop interrogating sharon. She had nothing to do with adam's shooting.

Paul: Don't leave town.

Sharon: Thank you for standing up for me.

Victoria: Dad.

Nick: How's adam?

Victoria: Is he okay?

Victor: Well, we don't know right now. He's in surgery, so...

[ Sighs ]

Lola: You're really going?

Arturo: Truck's all packed.

Lola: Least you didn't leave town without saying goodbye.

Arturo: [ Snorts softly ] Yeah, well, I didn't want to leave on bad terms.

Mia: I want to thank both of you for not having me sent to prison.

Lola: Well, we did it for the baby --

Mia: Baby. I know. I don't expect you to forgive me for what I did, but... I am sorry. And I'm gonna try to be a better person.

Arturo: Me too. Yeah, I, um... I want this baby to have two parents he or she can be proud of.

Lola: You got this.

Arturo: I guess this is it.

Mia: Yeah.

Rey: Have a safe trip.

Jack: So, someone tipped victor off that adam was hiding in vegas.

Billy: And, gee, if I didn't know any better, I'd think something was up with that.

Jack: It's a miracle.

Billy: Yeah, not the good kind.

Jack: Surely you of all people wouldn't begrudge someone a second chance at life --

Billy: "Someone"? Are you -- are you kidding me right now? Do you not remember the havoc that that man wreaked on my life, my family, victoria? And he's picking up right where he left off. Bonding with dear old dad, pushing victoria's buttons just as we're getting closer.

Jack: Why would adam want to get in the way of that?

Billy: Why, jack? Because he's breathing, that's why.

Jack: Okay, look, I understand you have history with the man. I-I know what happened with delia --

Billy: Don'T.

Billy: Don't do that. You have no idea what it's like to look in that man's eyes.

Jack: You're right. I don'T. But I have to believe being given a second chance in life can change a man.

Billy: Yeah, you're right. I didn't think about that. There's a chance adam's a worse version of himself.

Nick: I'll keep you posted. I love you, too. Mom sends her love. I told her there's no need for her to come down here.

Victoria: Is she gonna let abby know?

Nick: Uh, yeah. She's also dealing with the police and the press.

Victoria: Well, I still don't know how the shooter got past ranch security.

Sharon: Somebody must have really wanted adam dead.

Nick: Adam's only been back a week, and he's already turning our lives upside down.

Victoria: Are you surprised?

Nick: He's such a magnet for trouble.

Victor: Will you two listen to yourselves? You should be praying for your brother's survival, not condemn him.

Victoria: Nobody wants him dead, dad.

Nick: Of course not. But we need to be realistic.

Victor: About what?

Nick: Dad, nobody knows what he was doing this whole time he was gone. He was in vegas. He could have come across any number of shady people.

Victor: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: You don't have to look that far to find people who hate adam. There are plenty of them here in genoa city. It could have been any one of them.

Sharon: Let's be honest -- at one point or another, any one of us could have been suspects.

Phyllis: Considering what they did to me, I don't think it's unreasonable.

Summer: Mom, I understand where you are coming from. I thought of thousands of ways to inflict pain on kyle after he ended our marriage.

Phyllis: They all deserve to pay for what they did.

Summer: Mom, this anger and this bitterness inside of you, it's not good for you. Just let it go.

Phyllis: And just walk away? Walk away with nothing?

Summer: No one -- no one can take away your passion or your creativity, okay?

Phyllis: Well, you know something, jack and billy and kyle, they got their shiny offices, they got their corporate jets, they got their huge paychecks.

Summer: Oh, my god. Who cares? Who cares about them? Move on with your life.

Phyllis: Why should I be the one to let it go? Tell me, what did I do that was any worse than what any of them did.

Summer: Mom, I know that it is not fair --

Phyllis: Kyle lured billy into gambling again. Billy embezzled money from the company. Jack used his sister's paternity against her.

Summer: Okay, mom, you are right. They had no right to judge you.

Phyllis: They fired me! For hiring the same chemist billy and jack tried to hire.

Summer: Yes, what they did to you was --

Phyllis: Deplorable! So maybe I am a little crazy for wanting to hit them where it hurts. At least I'd feel a little vindicated.

Summer: Okay, so is that your plan now? That's your plan? You want to hit them where it hurts?

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] No. No. Now that you have... told jack what I am up to, there is no way that I can carry out that plan.

Kyle: Was it summer's idea to have me reassigned?

Jack: Summer was merely concerned about your commitment to immersing yourself fully in influencer life.

Kyle: This is ridiculous! You know how much I've put into the collective.

Jack: I also know how much you bring to this company in areas other than socializing.

Kyle: I can't believe you're letting summer call the shots.

Jack: She came to me with concerns about division of labor. I happen to agree with her.

Kyle: So you're demoting me?

Jack: No. It's a lateral move.

Kyle: It doesn't feel that way.

Jack: You said yourself, working with summer was becoming difficult.

Kyle: I thought you might move her to another area.

Jack: Look at it this way -- you'll have more time with lola.

Lola: Stubborn till the end?

Rey: How do you expect me to feel?

Lola: Hurt. Sad. Disappointed. You lost a lot.

Rey: Wasn't meant to be.

Lola: I know how much you wanted to be a father. Even if meant sharing a kid with mia.

Rey: They screwed me over, and they are walking away with everything.

Lola: Not everything.

Rey: They don't care what I think.

Lola: Rey, you know that's not true.

Rey: What do you want from me, lo?

Lola: Rey, arturo is going to be a father. And you are the only decent role model he has ever had.

Rey: He always resented me playing dad.

Lola: We both know how lucky we were to have you, rey. And arturo needs you now more than he ever has. Be the bigger man, rey. Show arturo what an amazing father looks like. The way you always have.

Arturo: Hey, uh, we're gonna head out.

Rey: Yeah. Um... before you do, there's something I need to say. I hope you find what you're looking for in miami. That you... have a happy life. And you take care of that kid.

Arturo: No tv, no computer, and no staying up late.

Lola: And do your homework.

Together: Rey's rules.

Rey: Yeah, well, you both survived.

Arturo: Barely.

Rey: The only thing I ever wanted for you was to be happy. Both of you.

Mia: We want that for you, too.

Arturo: More than anything.

Paul: Well. All right, eddie, what've we got?

Eddie: Lot of footprints outside, even more fingerprints in.

Paul: All right. Well, considering the number of people that live and work here, I'm not surprised.

Eddie: We're running the prints now.

Paul: Yeah. I doubt you're gonna get a hit. You see, sharon came over as soon as she heard the gunshot. Adam was lying in the doorway. It's very probable that the shooter never entered the -- the house.

Eddie: Well, I'll go through the other evidence, let you know if anything turns up.

Paul: Yeah, thanks.

[ Sighs ] I'm just afraid our -- our best chance at nailing this guy is adam. If he makes it.

Sharon: [ Sighs ]

Nick: How you doing?

Sharon: I'm fine. I mean, I'm terrible. I'm worried about adam.

Nick: Well, it just proves I was right when I was concerned about you getting involved with him.

Sharon: I'm not involved with him, nick. I'm just trying to help him.

Nick: Yeah, because dad pressured you.

Sharon: Adam needed a friend. If I hadn't been one, he might have died.

Nick: Just being close to him can put you in danger.

Sharon: I'm not gonna abandon him. He saved my life. Now I owe him.

Nick: Well, you returned the favor. Now walk away before it's too late and you get hurt. Or worse.

Sharon: Nate. How is he?

Nate: I was able to remove the bullet.

[ Sighs ]

Victor: And?

Nate: Adam was lucky. No major organ or arterial damage. He's gonna be fine.

Sharon: Oh, thank god.

Victor: Can I see him?

Nate: He's in recovery right now.

Victor: [ Sighs ] I've got to find out who did this to him.

Nate: It's gonna be a while before he talks. Go home. Someone will call you when he wakes up.

Victoria: Dad, let us take you home.

Victor: No, sweetheart. I'm not gonna leave until I find out that my son is all right.

Kyle: Hey. Congratulations. You got what you wanted. You and I are no longer a team.

Summer: None of this is what I wanted. But I guess it's what's right.

Kyle: Yeah. Maybe this is what's best.

Summer: Well, finally, we agree on something.

Kyle: I'm sorry for what I put you through.

Summer: Well, yeah. I mean, you never really lied about your feelings for lola. I just stupidly thought that I could get you to love me the way that you love her.

Kyle: You deserve to have someone love you like that. You'll find your person.

Summer: In time. After I make a name for myself in the corporate world.

Kyle: If you ever need anything --

Summer: I got it.

Kyle: I have no doubt.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] He's out of surgery. Nate says the prognosis is good.

Rey: You're still worried.

Sharon: You never know with injuries like these.

Rey: Adam seems like he's a fighter.

Sharon: Who would do this to him, rey? He's been through so much.

Rey: I wish I were still on the force. I could work the case, help give you some peace.

Sharon: You're doing that right now.

Victoria: I wish dad hadn't insisted that we leave, because I'm worried about him.

Nick: I don't think he thinks we are team adam.

Victoria: [ Scoffs ] Doesn't mean i wanted him to die.

Nick: Me neither. But I would like him to go and live somewhere else, and take all of this trouble that seems to follow him with him.

Victoria: Dad asked if we would give him a chance to prove that he's changed. Do you think you can do that?

Nick: Can you?

Billy: Hey.

Victoria: Oh, hi. I'm so glad you came.

Billy: I got your message. What's up?

Victoria: Sit -- sit down.

Billy: What's going on?

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Adam's been shot.

Billy: I'm only surprised it took so long.

Victoria: Billy!

Billy: Violence and trouble follow the guy everywhere. What do you expect?

Victoria: He almost died. Thank god he's okay.

Billy: Yeah. I guess.

Nick: Let me ask you a question.

Billy: Shoot.

Nick: Any chance you're the one who put that bullet in adam?

Paul: Oh, boy. So, they took the phone as evidence, right? Holy cow! Eddie. Take a look at this.

Eddie: Guess that rules out robbery as the motive.

Paul: So adam is clearly the target.

Victor: My boy... this is your dad. Adam. Well, if you could, you'd probably tell me to get the hell out of here and leave you alone. Those were the exact words you said when you last were in my office. For a long time, I was afraid that those were the last words you and I ever spoke to each other. But I should have known better, because you're a newman. You are my flesh and blood, and we don't give up. We keep fighting.

[ Sighs ] Except I don't want to argue with you anymore. We've argued for so many years over so many ridiculous things.

[ Sighs ] The most important thing is that you're home now. I'm gonna keep you safe, my boy. I'll keep you safe.

Lola: Who am I gonna watch soccer and do shots with?

Arturo: Kyle?

Lola: [ Sucks teeth ] He's more of a tennis-and-wine guy.

Arturo: [ Chuckles ] That's tough.

Lola: [ Sighs ] I'm gonna miss you so much. Mia, mm, not so much.

Mia: I heard that.

Lola: You pull any crap on my brother, and I will come down to miami and kick your butt.

Mia: Best behavior. Promise.

Lola: And I want constant updates on the baby.

Mia: Texts, pictures, videos. You're gonna be the first call when I go into labor.

Lola: I better be.

Arturo: [ Clears throat ] Well, I guess this is it.

Mia: Yeah.

Arturo: [ Inhales, sighs ] So long, genoa city. I love you, sis.

Lola: I love you, too.

Lola: [ Huffs ]

[ Sniffles ]

Summer: Hi. Uh... am I interrupting?

Jack: Not at all.

Summer: Um... I just wanted to say thank you for reassigning kyle.

Jack: Simple business decision.

Summer: Well, we talked, and we both agreed that it was the best decision for everybody.

Jack: Oh, that's great.

Summer: Um, I actually wanted to talk to you about something else. It's not about kyle. It's actually about my mom.

Jack: What's she up to now?

Summer: Well, she says nothing, but I don't think that she's being honest.

Jack: Thank you for giving me the heads up. I'm not worried. What's the worst she could do?

Summer: I don't think that you want to find out.

Phyllis: [ Breathing deeply ]

Sharon: Must have been hard to watch them go.

Rey: I felt bad for lola.

Sharon: It couldn't have been easy for you.

Rey: Seeing my brother and wife start a new life together?

Sharon: I know that you wish them well, but it's okay to be angry, too.

Rey: [ Sighs ] You know, as much as I blame them for blowing up my life, they belong together.

Sharon: Still, it's got to hurt.

Rey: Time to move on. In fact... I just filed for divorce.

Sharon: You did?

Rey: [ Sighs ] I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life. With you.

Sharon: Well, then, let me help you turn the page.

Billy: You two don't seem that upset at the prospect of me shooting your death-dodging brother. I mean, I joked with you that he's got nine lives. Maybe it's more at this point.

Nick: Is that a yes?

Billy: I wouldn't waste a bullet on that dirtbag.

Victoria: Nick, it wasn't billy. He was with me when adam got shot.

Billy: What about you, nick? You got an alibi?

Nick: I was with christian.

Billy: Your toddler son. Not sure that's gonna hold up in court.

Nick: Well, it's not like anybody is gonna believe your -- I mean, what the hell are you two now? Are you boyfriend and girlfriend? Are you exes with benefits? What is it?

Victoria: Ha. That's very funny.

Nick: Well, you did go on that camping trip together. That was cute.

Victoria: Why were we talking about adam and now all of a sudden we're talking about billy and me?

Nick: Because billy has reminded me once again what a terrible brother-in-law he was.

Billy: Don't you think you should be focused on your real brother? Probably a good idea.

Victoria: Maybe dad's right. Maybe we should give adam a chance to prove himself.

Billy: What, do go from demon seed to full-blown demon?

Victoria: We don't know that.

Billy: The guy shows up in vegas claiming that he doesn't have a memory, playing poker, calling himself spider. What do you think?

Nick: Sounds like the old adam to me.

Billy: Yeah, the one who never dies. And he's not going to this time, either. So buckle up, boys and girls. It's only about to get worse.

[ Adam grunts, mumbles ]

Victor: Adam? Can you hear me? You're in the hospital now. You're gonna be okay.
