Rey: You confessed to paul. It's officially out of my hands.

Abby: I'm actually on a break from men, dating, all of it. Heh...

Victor: He felt terrible about what happened to delia. And you know by now it was an accident. My son admitted to it. Took responsibility. And you stood up in court and you said you would forgive him.

Billy: It's not enough, victor.

Adam: I'm overwhelmed. Being here is, uh, a lot to digest. Apparently I've done a lot of bad things.

Sharon: Wha...? Adam? Are you here?

Adam: Sharon?

Sharon: Um... I knocked, but the door was open. Did you leave it unlocked?

Adam: No.

Sharon: Are you sure?

Adam: I'm positive.

Victor: Well, is he alone? Well, you keep an eye on him. I want to know where he goes and who he sees. Okay.

[ Sighs ] Sweetheart, kindly give me a call. I have some important news for you.

Rey: Look, I know the doctor said 24 hours, but is there any indication that it could be less?

Mia: I know you're anxious to find out that this isn't your baby, but --

Rey: I just want the truth, mia.

Arturo: Why don't you lie down? All this stress can't be good for you or the baby.

Rey: I don't know. Those cramps kept paul from arresting her.

Mia: It's getting old, rey.

Rey: Wouldn't be the first time you used your pregnancy to keep yourself from going to jail.

Arturo: Okay, lay off, man. She's pregnant. Obviously that doesn't matter to you.

Arturo: Oh, yeah. I can see how concerned you are.

Mia: I think you should leave, rey.

Rey: Right. It's gonna be a while before we hear anything, so --

Mia: No, I mean go back to sharon and stop pretending you give a damn about me. Or this baby.

Rey: I wanted to be a father more than anything. Not like this.

Mia: Yeah, well, this is the way it is.

Mia: Look, there's plenty of blame to go around, but it's not just the three of us anymore. There's another life involved. We need to get real here.

Rey: Whatever the hell that means, mia.

Mia: It means it's time to start being honest with each other. About everything.

Abby: Well, how are we gonna improve if we don't get honest feedback?

Victoria: You know, if nick hadn't seen adam, I'm not sure I'd believe that he was alive. I still don't know how he survived that explosion.

Billy: Dude's got nine lives. I was hoping he'd used them up by now.

Victoria: How did no one know he was alive?

Billy: I have no idea, because adam newman is not exactly low-profile, is he?

Victoria: And then... dad suddenly finds him?

Billy: Memory or no memory, adam is still adam. And there's a reason why he turned up now.

Victoria: I just want to know what that is.

Adam: Thank god.

Sharon: What are you doing with all that cash?

Adam: Safety net.

Sharon: You think you'll need it?

Adam: Well, you know victor better than I do.

Sharon: I don't think he'd hurt you.

Adam: But you can't say for sure.

Rey: [ Scoffs ] Where do you get off judging what kind of parent I'm gonna be?

Rey: That's not true.

Arturo: You think that mia and I are a bunch of screw-ups, and that you had absolutely nothing to do with all the crap that went down?

Rey: You both cheat on me back in miami, and then you sleep with my wife again after we get back together. Maybe -- maybe even get her pregnant! And somehow I'm responsible?

Arturo: Why do you think she came to me in the first place, rey? And then again in gc? Because you were never there. You were never there because you loved your job way more than you loved mia.

Rey: I was busting my ass to try and keep this family together.

Arturo: Yeah, we all know how much you sacrificed.

Rey: Yeah, but you never appreciated what I did for you.

Arturo: That's a bunch of bull.

Rey: Sleeping with my wife was all I ever needed to know.

Arturo: Rey, I did a lot of stupid things growing up. But what happened with mia and me, we never meant...

[ Sighs ] I love you.

Adam: Does this have anything to do with me being a fugitive?

Sharon: You know about that?

Adam: It's one of the headlines I read when I was researching adam newman. It said that he -- I was on the run from the police when the explosion happened.

Sharon: Did you tell victor?

Adam: He told me not to worry about it.

Sharon: He took care of it.

Adam: I want to know. Whatever it is.

Sharon: When was the last time victor was here?

Adam: You think he left it?

Sharon: It's a good way to jolt your memory.

Adam: Tell me. This delia, how do I know her?

Sharon: Through you sister.

Adam: Victoria?

Adam: All right, I think I should talk to victoria about this.

Sharon: Uh, no. I don't think that's a good idea.

Adam: Sharon, I can't pick and choose what parts of my past that I remember.

Sharon: Okay. Um, let me just call her first and prepare her.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Victoria: It's sharon. Hello, sharon.

Sharon: Hi, victoria. I'm with adam. He's trying to fill in some of the blanks in his life.

Victoria: Any luck with that?

Sharon: Well, it's pretty overwhelming. That's why I'm calling you. He wants to meet with you. He's ready to move forward, and there are things that I didn't feel were my place to tell him. Is this too soon?

Victoria: Sharon, I know this -- this has been very hard on all of us, including you. I'm sure that dad didn't give you much of a choice about being in the middle of all of this.

Sharon: Well, you know victor.

Victoria: I know that he's not above using your past with adam to his advantage. I-I just hope that, um... I hope you're okay. You okay?

Sharon: I'm fine. Thanks for asking.

Victoria: Tell adam to meet me at...

Sharon: He'll be there.

Victoria: He wants to meet me.

Billy: Let's go.

Victoria: No. No, no, no. Billy, I think that's a really bad idea.

Billy: Vick, I need to look him in the eyes, okay? I'm coming with you.

Sharon: Are you sure about this?

Adam: I'm sure.

Rey: In the beginning, I thought... this is what I wanted. You. [ Sighs ] This life. Our marriage. I loved you.

Mia: I loved you, too.

Rey: Then... something...

Mia: Something broke.

Rey: I couldn't admit that my feelings for you had changed. Even after I met sharon and --

Mia: You started to feel for her what you once felt for me.

Rey: The more I told myself it was wrong --

Mia: The more you fell in love with her.

[ Rey scoffs ] That's all I've ever wanted.

Arturo: We're actually thinking about heading back to miami.

Mia: Obviously we need to wait for the test results before we decide anything.

Arturo: Yeah. If it's my baby, I-I think it's best for us to get a fresh start for our family.

Rey: And if it's mine?

Mia: I think it's best for everyone if we put some miles between us.

Rey: Okay, look, no matter who the father is, we're gonna make this work.

Mia: Baby's gonna need both of you. Especially if I end up in jail.

Arturo: Don't think like that.

Mia: No, I confessed to paul. I'm gonna face charges for what I did. There's no stopping that.

Rey: Maybe there is.

Nate: I've got a proposition for you.

Abby: I thought I was clear before.

Nate: Not that kind of proposition. Well, not exactly.

Abby: Is this a riddle?

Nate: More of a challenge.

Abby: Okay, what is this not-exactly-proposition riddle-challenge that you have for me?

Nate: I tell you a riddle. If you can't solve it, I get to take you to dinner.

Abby: And if I can?

[ Gasps ] Does the rest of the family know?

Victoria: Yes.

Adam: Victoria.

Victoria: Yeah. Sharon said you wanted to talk.

Adam: Thank you for meeting with me. I-I really appreciate --

Billy: I think that's -- that's close enough. I didn't have to run for help.

Nate: You okay?

Abby: You knew he was alive?

Victoria: I just found out.

Abby: Who else knows? Besides sharon? Nick? Nikki? Dad's chauffeur?

Victoria: I assumed dad told you.

Abby: Yeah, because he always keeps me in the loop. How long have you known?

Victoria: We're just seeing each other for the first time.

Abby: How long, victoria?

Adam: Abby, this is my fault. I should have called you. It's been a lot to take in. I-I've been going at it kind of slow. I don't remember anything before the explosion, and for a while after.

Abby: Did they tell you you were wanted by the police?

Adam: Victor took care of that.

Abby: [ Scoffs ] Of course he did.

Adam: I'd like for us to get to know each other.

Abby: You know where to find me. Um... let me show you to a table.

Adam: Thank you. I take it we've met.

Billy: Yeah. We've met.

Adam: Must be strange, having to introduce yourselves to me.

Billy: Strange doesn't begin to cover it. I'm billy. Abbott.

Rey: Thanks for doing this.

Paul: Oh, no problem. So, uh... how are mia and the baby?

Rey: They're fine.

Paul: Well, that's good news. So, um, false alarm, or...?

Rey: Yeah.

Paul: Did, um, mia tell you about the conversation we had before she was taken to the hospital?

Rey: She never meant to hurt lola.

Paul: Your sister almost died.

Rey: Lola's liver problems had nothing to do with her accident. In fact, it may have saved her life.

Paul: [ Scoffs ] That's an interesting way of looking at it.

Rey: If she hadn't gotten hurt, she may have not gotten the transplant in time.

Paul: So you think mia deserves a free pass for this?

Rey: Lola doesn't want to press charges.

Paul: What about abby?

Rey: She's not interested in pursuing this, either.

Paul: Huh. Well, it's pretty hard tow in a case when the victim refuses to testify. I think the D.A. Would agree with me there.

Rey: So we're good, then?

Paul: Um... there is one thing that continues to bug me. And that is how the officer in charge of this investigation handled things.

Victor: Well, sweetheart, i wanted to tell you about adam.

Abby: Just not as much as you wanted to tell everyone else. I'm used to it.

Victor: Abby --

Abby: Who knows? Maybe adam will be the first newman who actually considers me a member of the family.

Victor: Sweetheart, what you must know --

Abby: I've got to go. Maybe the next time someone comes back from the dead, you could shoot me a text.

Billy: So, no memory, huh?

Adam: Not of adam newman.

Billy: Hmm. And I'm sure victor's working overtime trying to help you remember who you are.

Adam: Oh, I get the feeling he's been pretty selective on what he's told me. That's why the only person i trust is sharon. She told me you could explain this to me. Can you tell me who she is?

Billy: [ Sniffles ] Where did you get this?

Adam: Someone left it at the place I'm staying. Sharon said her name is delia.

Victoria: Yes. Delia abbott.

Adam: Wait a minute. Abbott?

Billy: Abbott, yes. My daughter. [ Sighs ] You killd her.

Victoria: It was an accident.

Billy: You ran her over with your car. And then you drove away to leave her to die on the side of the road. Right where I found her.

Adam: I knew that I hit her and I-I just left her there?

Billy: What I do know is that you destroyed the evidence.

Adam: Wait a minute. Evidence?

Billy: Dee's scarf. You burned it. And then good old victor found the truth and, in classic form, he used it to blackmail you. I was obsessed with trying to find out who took my daughter. I spent every day, every minute of every day looking for clues, anything to find out. And it destroyed my marriage. It destroyed me. It destroyed my life.

Adam: Okay, if I'd have known, I would have done something.

Billy: No, you did know, adam. And you lied about it. You kept it quiet. But my obsession paid off, and it led me straight back to you.

Adam: [ Snorts softly ] You must have wanted to kill me.

Billy: I held you at gunpoint, and we drove around the city -- to every one of dee's favorite places, as a reminder of all the places that she'll never go again.

Adam: I, uh... I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child. This doesn't mean much -- probably nothing -- but I am sorry.

Billy: You can't be sorry for something you don't remember.

Victoria: You say that someone left this picture of delia at the place you're staying?

Adam: Sharon thinks it was victor. That he was hoping I would see delia's picture. That remembering something so terrible would shake something loose.

Adam: I'm sorry that victor dragged all this up again.

Victoria: It's taken us a long time to come to terms with losing delia.

Adam: I don't know how you'd ever do something like that.

Billy: Do you have any idea what's in store for you if you don't remember who you are?

Adam: I'm not sure what you mean.

Billy: Well, it's, I mean, a dream come true for victor. He has a son with a clean slate.

Adam: Why would he want to do that?

Billy: To make you whoever he wants you to be.

Adam: By controlling what i remember.

Billy: By controlling you. And this right here, this is exactly how he's gonna do it, because victor does not care who he hurts as long as he gets what he wants.

Adam: Which is what?

Billy: The last place I want to be is inside victor's head.

Victoria: What do you want?

Adam: [ Sighs ] Not this.

Billy: Well, this, adam, this is not gonna stop.

Adam: Yeah, I can feel it already. Oh, he has plans for me. In his world, his family, his company. God! You know, I had a life in vegas. A good one. I should've never let victor talk me into coming back here.

Billy: He has a way of making people do what they don't want to do.

Adam: I am sorry about your daughter. And for bringing up all that pain.

Victoria: Dad used you.

Adam: [ Sniffles ] It's not gonna happen again.

Nate: That, uh, drink offer still stands. Not a date.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Nate: Just a friend listening.

Abby: You are a really nice guy, nate --

Nate: Let's, uh, leave it at that for now.

Abby: Deal.

Rey: Must feel like i betrayed you.

Paul: Well, you did. I even gave you a chance to earn back my trust.

Rey: That felt like I was being set up.

Paul: Well, I suspected you were protecting mia. I was hoping I was wrong.

Rey: I'm sorry I failed your test.

Paul: So am I. You were a good cop.

Rey: It's the only thing I ever wanted to do.

Paul: Well... you risked everything.

Rey: For my family.

Paul: Sharon before that.

Rey: Maybe I'm better working outside the law.

Paul: If you can stay out of jail, I'd agree.

Rey: Is that where I'm heading?

Paul: You know, rey, you lost your job, your marriage, possibly your relationship with your brother. It seems like that's punishment enough.

Rey: So you're not gonna pursue charges against me?

Paul: I'm pretty sure I can convince the district attorney not to file charges.

Rey: Thanks, chief.

Paul: [ Sighs ] You can thank me by staying out of trouble.

Rey: I'll do my best.

Mia: Rey. Did you talk to chief williams?

Rey: He's not gonna pursue charges against either one of us.

Mia: Thank god! And thank you, rey.

Rey: Now all we have to do is wait for the results of the paternity test.

Victor: Yeah. I'll talk to you soon. Thank you.

Adam: You've been messing with me.

Victor: Calm down, son.

Adam: No. You stop trying to control me.

Victor: Let's just talk about this, all right?

Adam: Okay. About what? What a brilliant businessman I am? The special relationship that we had? All the things that paint a rosy picture of my past?

Victor: We can talk about anything you want.

Adam: Okay. How about the fact that I ran down a little girl and I killed her?

Victor: Hmm. You talked to victoria?

Adam: Mm-hmm. And billy abbott, who practically wanted to murder me because of what I did.

Victor: Adam, I told you that you had some dark secrets in your past.

Adam: You downplayed them. Focused on what you wanted me to know.

Victor: Are you accusing me of rewriting history?

Adam: No, I think you would do anything to make me into the man that you want me to be.

Victor: That is necessary.

Adam: [ Snorts softly ] You knew about delia, and you didn't tell me.

Victor: It wasn't my place.

Adam: What else haven't you told me?

Victor: What do you want to talk about?

Adam: The truth! Okay? I need to know if I'm the kind of man that -- that would run down a little girl and leave her in the road to die. Is that who I am, victor?

Adam: If I'm gonna accept who I am, I need to know the truth about my past -- all of it.

Victor: I agree with you.

Adam: Okay, then why have you just given me bits and pieces?

Victor: Because, my son, I didn't want to overwhelm you.

Adam: You had no right to keep things from me, no matter how bad they were.

Victor: Adam, everyone has things they're not very proud of.

Adam: We are not talking about failing a test or -- or getting into a bar fight. I killed someone.

Victor: It was an accident.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Well, tell that to billy.

Victor: Well, billy was the father. I can only imagine what he and victoria went through while they were grieving. But you know what? They weren't the only ones. You grieved, as well. You were wracked with remorse and guilt, son.

Adam: And you were the one that planted the picturef delia to help me remember that.

Victor: Do yourself a favor -- don't let whatever you discover now stop you from pushing forward, okay?

Adam: If it's more memories like this, maybe I'm better off not remembering.

Victor: That is not the adam that I know.

Adam: Ahh. Fearless. Another quality I don't remember.

Victor: That's right. You wouldn't be scared off by this. I want you to push forward. And eventually you will discover everything about yourself.

Adam: [ Sighs ] I'm not sure that I want to.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Abby: Can I have the waiter bring you anything?

Billy: I think we're fine. Thanks, abby.

Abby: Okay. Well, I will let you get back to, um... whatever it is you were discussing.

Victoria: Abby. I'm sorry that nobody told you about adam.

Abby: Are you surprised? Maybe it was the way I was brought into the world -- without dad's consent or knowledge -- or maybe one smart, successful daughter is enough for him.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] That's not true. Dad loves you.

Abby: Dad loves all of his children. Just not equally.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] God, what a mess.

Billy: What'd you expect? Adam's back.

Victoria: You know, the minute I saw him, every possible emotion just hit me at once.

Billy: Yeah, I zeroed in on one.

Victoria: I can't help feeling relieved that he survived the explosion. Even happy. But... [ Sighs ]

Billy: You don't have to censor your feelings on adam with me, vick.

Victoria: When you and he were talking about dad's plans for him, I couldn't help that old resentment rising up in me again.

Billy: You're gonna make me defend him, aren't you?

Victoria: Why?

Billy: 'Cause it's not adam's fault that you feel jealous or insecure. It's your dad. This is all on him, the way he's handled the situation. Lies and deceit. Not telling anybody that adam was alive, not telling anybody about his plans to bring him back here. He just springs it on everyone.

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Billy: What?

Victoria: I'm sorry. I'm sitting here worried about myself. I should be asking you if you're okay.

Billy: [ Exhales heavily ] When we were on our way over here, I, uh -- I couldn't help but think about seeing him for the first time again. You know, I wanted to watch him to see if he was telling the truth about this amnesia.

Victoria: Yes, it's understandable that you would think that.

Billy: But then he pulled this picture out of dee... and it all went out the window. 'Cause the truth is it doesn't matter if he's got amnesia or not. I was looking into the eyes of the guy that killed my daughter. And it all came flooding back. Finding her on the side of the road. Holding her in my arms. Waiting for the ambulance. Begging her not to leave me. And then finding out that --

[ Sniffles ]

[ Sighs ]

Rey: [ Sighs ] I missed you.

Sharon: Has it really only been one day since we've seen each other?

Rey: The craziest 24 hours of my life.

Sharon: Tell me.

Rey: [ Inhales deeply ] All right. Short version... is I'd rather be doing this.

Sharon: Did you explain everything to lola?

Rey: I did. [ Sighs ] She understood I couldn't turn mia in because of the baby.

Sharon: And how are they?

Rey: They're fine. Something about false labor pains.

Sharon: And what about the charges against her?

Rey: I spoke to paul. He doesn't feel like there's enough evidence to file charges against either one of us.

Sharon: So it's over?

Rey: Not quite.

Sharon: What do you mean?

Rey: We're running a paternity test.

Sharon: Well, better to know, right?

Rey: Yeah. What about you and adam?

Sharon: Um... nothing that can't wait.

Rey: Well, in that case...

[ Knock on door ] Ignore it.

Sharon: No, I didn't hear anything.

Rey: Good, good.

[ Knock on door ]

Adam: Sharon, it's adam.

Sharon: Um...

Rey: Go ahead. Go ahead.

Sharon: Sorry.

Rey: It's fine.

Adam: Can I come in? I've always been excited for what's next.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] It was really a shock seeing him.

Billy: Like getting hit by lightning.

Victoria: Most people don't survive that.

Billy: Well, I'm here. Still in on piece.

Victoria: What about going forward?

Billy: We're gonna be fine. Both of us. We're gonna be fine.

Victoria: You sound so sure.

Billy: Did you see adam when he left?

Victoria: Yes, I did. He seemed angry with the way dad handled things.

Billy: Yeah, well, victor overplayed his hand. Which is bad news for him but good news for us -- and potentially adam.

Victoria: How so?

Billy: Your brother figured out that victor is dealing from the bottom of the deck. So it's only a matter of time before he cuts his losses and he heads back to las vegas.

Rey: Rey rosales. Nice to meet you.

Adam: You, too. I, uh -- I came at a bad time.

Rey: No, no. It's all right. You obviously need someone to talk to, and sharon wants to help.

Sharon: I'll walk you out. Thank you.

Rey: You're welcome. And as long as we pick up where we left off. In case you forgot.

Sharon: Not a chance.

[ Sighs ]

Adam: Sorry.

Sharon: How did it go with victoria?

Adam: Well, billy was with her.

Sharon: Oh, no.

Adam: Now I understand why you, uh, didn't want to tell me about delia.

Sharon: Adam, no.

Adam: How could you not? I mean, when I found out what kind of person this adam guy was, I wanted to --

[ Scoffs ] "This adam guy." He's me. I am the hit-and-run driver that ran down a little girl and left her in the road to die.

Sharon: There's a lot more to it than that. That's what victor said.

Sharon: You know, he and i don't often agree, but in this case, he's right.

Adam: [ Sniffles ] Even so. If this is who I am, I don't think I can deal with any more memories.

Sharon: The adam I knew wanted to learn from his mistakes and be a better person.

Adam: Do you think that's who I am?

Sharon: I think that's who you can be.

Victor: Nicholas, this is your father. I've left several messages. I expect you to call me back. This is urgent, all right?
