Episode #11613 ~ Victor jogs Adam's memory as the prodigal son returns to Genoa City.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Summer: You hacked into jabot's system and stole files?

Phyllis: No. I fished for your password, and I didn't find anything. I just want your help.

Kyle: Deal's in place, and everyone is happy with how tonight turned out.

Summer: Well, that just means that I did a better job covering for you than I thought.

Kyle: Go home, summer. Sleep it off.

Victor: Adam... is alive. And apparently he doesn't remember a damn thing that happened before the explosion. I think you would be able to bring him back.

Sharon: Come home and reconnect. At least try. If you hate it or if it means nothing to you, I'm sure this apartment and the poker table will be waiting for you.

Sharon: I hope you don't mind. I let myself in.

Nick: No, of course not. I've just been bouncing off the walls, wondering what's going on. I mean, in your message, you said that you met adam, but...

Sharon: [ Sighs ]

Nick: So?

Sharon: It was strange... and...surreal.

Nick: Yeah, I bet.

Sharon: Um, you know, he'd already been through so much with victor and that doctor by the time I got there, he was hesitant to explore his old life any further.

Nick: So, you hit a dead end? That's how you left it?

Sharon: No, we didn'T. For some reason, adam changed his mind. Victor and I were getting on the jet this morning when adam called and he agreed to come back to genoa city. Adam's home.

Victor: Needless to say, I'm very grateful that you've decided to come home with me.

Adam: [ Chuckles softly ]

Victor: I know I put a lot of pressure on you in vegas. Sorry about that.

Adam: [ Sighs ] I, um -- I need you to understand that you can't force me to remember things I don'T.

Victor: We'll take it one step at a time, okay?

Adam: Mm-hmm. So, this is newman enterprises. Pretty impressive.

Victor: Hmm. Any of this seem familiar to you?

Adam: I don't -- I don't ever remember being here.

Summer: [ Exhales sharply ]

[ Groans softly ] Okay.

[ Sighs ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Sighs ] Mm.

Kyle: I was wondering where you were.

Summer: I am here now.

Kyle: Ah. You have a late evening?!

Summer: [ Groans ] Well, not that it's any of your business, but, yes, I had a nightcap with theo.

Kyle: You had already had a few when you came over and interrupted lola and me. That's why you're hung over!

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: That's real mature, kyle.

Kyle: Mm. Mature would have been going home and sleeping it off, like i suggested. Why don't you take the day and recover? I can handle our meeting with my dad.

Summer: Why? I'm perfectly capable of conducting business.

Kyle: Summer, you don't have t--

Summer: We also need to go over our schedule, because theo has several people that we need to meet.

Kyle: Not until we get one thing straight. I know what you're up to, and it's not going to work.

Lauren: Should I be worried? You sounded really off on the phone when you called.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, having your dreams crushed at every turn can do that to a person.

Lauren: You okay?

Phyllis: No, I am not. But I'm very glad that you came. Thank you.

Lauren: I'm here... whenever you need.

Victor: Would you like to meet the rest of the family? They're anxious to meet you.

Adam: When, today?

Victor: Any time you want.

Adam: Well, facing everyone all at once feels daunting. I'd like to take it slow -- maybe do it one at a time.

Victor: I understand. Who would you like to meet first?

Nick: I was there. I saw the cabin explode. I was at his funeral.

Sharon: Looking at him was like seeing a ghost, almost. He and I have all this history, and he has no memory of it.

Nick: How much of his old life does he know?

Sharon: Some articles that he's read about himself and what victor and I have told him. Victor gave him some family photos to try to jog his memory, including one of christian. He knows that christian is his son, but that's all he knows.

Nick: And how did he react to that picture?

Sharon: It was the only one that he kept. He threw all of the others away.

Nick: Which means he must want --

Sharon: He doesn't know what he wants. He honestly doesn't seem to have any emotional connection to christian. He doesn't remember him... or anyone else.

Nick: You honestly believe that?

Sharon: I do. I mean, I know what he's capable of, but when he was looking at that picture, it was like he was looking at somebody else's photo album, somebody else's life.

Nick: He was always a very good actor.

Sharon: I know. I know that as well as anybody else. I just feel like... I would be able to detect something in his behavior, like a look or a gesture, some glimmer of the old adam, but there wasn'T. There was no sign of the man that I knew.

Nick: If adam has come back to genoa city to take christian, then he is gonna have to go through me first.

Sharon: I really don't think that's his plan.

Nick: But you can't be sure. I will protect that boy with my life.

Sharon: Look, I would have never brought adam back to town if I thought he was gonna turn everyone's life upside down.

Nick: He's doing that already.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] He's probably only going to stay a week, just to see if he has a breakthrough, and if not, he's happy to go back to vegas. He's just trying to figure out who he is, and he deserves that much. Right?

Nick: You always wanted to see the good in him.

Sharon: He always did that for me. Just asking you to keep an open mind. Can you do that?

Nick: [ Sighs ]

gas? Bloating? Discomfort?

Kyle: I am truly sorry that i hurt you, but if we're gonna be partners on jabot collective, you need to make it about the work, not us.

Summer: I am all about the work. You are the one that went home early in new york, and you're the one that bailed on our meeting last night early.

Kyle: Look, the business portion of our meeting was finished by the time I left. You were trying to extend those meetings way past what was necessary.

Summer: Yeah, it's called networking," grandpa.

Kyle: You've been creating reasons for us to spend more time together...

Summer: Oh.

Kyle: ...To get between lola and me, and it's not gonna work this time.

Summer: Oh, yeah, no, unless she needs a kidney, right?

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Look... you need to accept the fact that she and I are together and you and I are not. When you pull stunts like last night, you are only embarrassing yourself.

Summer: I am not embarrassed. You are the one who --

Jack: Started the meeting without me, huh?

Kyle: Summer is not feeling well, and I'm trying to convince her to go home.

Summer: Which is unnecessary because I am perfectly fine.

Kyle: She is in denial.

Summer: You know, I'm gonna go grab a sparkling water from the breakroom, and then I will be ready to jump in.

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Jack: Okay. Want to tell me what's really going on here?

Kyle: She's having a hard time letting go and is using work to try to manipulate me.

Jack: Well, she is phyllis' daughter, and she's having a tough time. Remember, her heart is broken.

Kyle: I know, and that's my fault.

Jack: So, how are you gonna handle it?

Kyle: I told her it has to stop. We'll see if I got through.

Jack: I hope you did, because if the two of you can't coexist, you --

Summer: All right. I am back. So... what did I miss?

Victoria: Hi. You got the same text I did?

Nikki: Your father's with adam. He'll be here when he can.

Victoria: Well, what else did he say?

Nikki: All I know is he flew in on the jet this morning.

Victoria: Why, after all this time, would adam agree to come home?

Nikki: I don't know. Maybe sharon convinced him?

Victoria: Gosh. I wish we knew what was going on in our own family so we could prepare for the storm that's coming our way.

Adam: You must be nick.

Nick: Yep.

Victor: I think sharon told you that we were back.

Nick: Yeah. Sharon actually returns my phone calls.

Victor: I'm sure you have a lot of questions, son. But not now. Your brother is back. I'll give you two time to talk to each other, all right?

Adam: [ Breathes deeply ]

Nick: This is weird.

Adam: Huh. I know.

Nick: I thought I was prepared to see you. But hearing that you're alive and actually seeing you is two different things.

Adam: Well, nothing seemed real since victor tracked me down.

Nick: You know, I actually envy you. I wish I could forget some of the things that happen, but... I can'T.

Adam: I don't know what to say.

Nick: Has anybody talked to you about the night you died -- I mean the night you supposedly died?

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I was there. I saw that house go up in flames. It was like a giant fireball. I didn't think you could survive that, adam. If I did, I would have run back in to get you.

Adam: Oh, well, you shouldn't feel guilty about that.

Nick: Well, it's kind of hard not to. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I mean, who else but you could pull off a houdini-like escape like that?

Adam: Well, from what little I know, I led a pretty colorful life.

Nick: Oh, it was a damn rainbow... with your eyes always on the pot of gold.

Adam: What does that mean?

Nick: I'd like to say I'm thrilled that you're back -- you know, to welcome you with open arms like my dad and sharon. I mean, they seem to have bought your story.

Adam: Hmm. But you don'T.

Nick: I can'T.

Nick: You know, we were just starting to be on good terms the last time we saw each other, but it wasn't easy. Took us a long time to get there. But I cannot just go back and pick up where we left off.

Adam: No, I get it. I can tell that I hurt a lot of people. So, this isn't fun for me, either. In fact, I don't even know why I'm putting myself through it. What would my motive be?

Nick: Who knows? That's what con men do. They con people.

Adam: But they always have an end game. I don't blame you for being suspicious. I'd probably react the same way if the tables were turned. But I'm not lying.

Nick: Yeah, I've heard that before, adam. But you have burned this family so many times. Hell, your amnesia story -- it's not even the first time you faked your own death. You framed me for your own murder once.

Adam: Sorry.

Nick: [ Scoffs ]

Adam: [ Scoffs ] I mean, I don't know what else to say, because I don't remember any of that.

Nick: And you don't remember any of us?

Adam: No.

[ Sighs ] I-I didn't ask for this. Victor found me. And sharon convinced me to come back to genoa city. Every day I hear crazy things about myself, but I don't recognize that person. So I'm gonna give it a little more time, but if I don't remember something soon, I'm going back to vegas. We might all be better off that way.

Nick: Yeah. We might.

Adam: I don't want to cause any trouble.

Nick: Look, this is a -- it's a complicated situation. I've got a lot of feelings about this. They're all kind of fighting each other. But I guess what I'm willing to say is I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, for now. But just know this. I will never let you hurt this family again.

Adam: Fair enough. I'm gonna take off. This has been a lot... for both of us.

Nick: Hey. Welcome home.

Summer: So, nazanin and i totally clicked. I mean, she is young, creative, smart. I think that she was the perfect choice to promote jabot collective.

Kyle: And theo has a bunch of other contacts for us, too.

Jack: Just excellent. I am very impressed, both of you. I have a little show-and-tell of my own.

Summer: Hmm.

Jack: Our first set of designs just came in.

Summer: Oh.

Kyle: Ooh. Mm-hmm. Mm. I love these. They're exactly the vibes we're going for.

Jack: Summer?

Summer: Um, you know, most of them, I think, are on point, but I think that we need to get a bolder color palette and maybe a lighter textile for the pants and skirts.

Kyle: How long will these changes take? Because we need to be in production, like, yesterday.

Summer: Well, they'll be worth the wait if it makes for more desirable product.

Kyle: We've got a tight schedule and a bottom line to meet. I like the designs the way they are.

Summer: Yeah, most of them are great, but don't you want all of them to be great?

Kyle: It's your call.

Jack: Make the changes.

Kyle: Okay.

Jack: Nice work, both of you. Thank you very much.

Summer: Uh, jack? Can I speak to you privately for a minute?

Jack: Sure. Is this about kyle?

Summer: Uh, no. Actually, it's -- uh, it's about my mom.

Lauren: I-I'm so sorry you're having a difficult time. Launching a new company -- it's never easy. I even tried to get jack to reconsider the jabot collective tie-in, but...

Phyllis: I never expected jack to change his mind, which is why I pitched it to ashley instead.

Lauren: What?! I am so surprised you would do that. First of all, she is not your biggest fan, and, second of all, she is the one that planted kerry inside of jabot.

Phyllis: Okay, I haven't forgotten that. I thought that ashley would want to show up jack as much as I do.

Lauren: So, this is all about jack. Okay. You ready for some straight talk?

Phyllis: Well, you know, if it doesn't hurt my feelings.

Lauren: It's gonna sting.

Phyllis: Oh, really? Lay it on.

Lauren: Get out of the revenge game, honey. It's unhealthy, and, quite frankly, you suck at it.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. Ouch.

Lauren: Look, I am all for you going out on your own and starting something from scratch. But you can't do that if you look backward to jack and jabot. You need to go forward, and, please, god, do something where the name "abbott" isn't involved.

Phyllis: Hmm. That's what summer said.

Lauren: Well... when the two people who love you the most say the same thing, why don't you something crazy... like listen?

Victor: [ Breathes deeply ] I hope this will do for the time being. Close to the main house, you know.

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Victor: And sharon lives on the same property.

Adam: That's very generous.

Victor: You're my son.

Adam: And I can understand why a father would want his son back home, but... the way you've been going about things, with such urgency...

Victor: I'm a man who gets things done.

Adam: You seemed almost desperate to get me to come back here. And the pace of things -- it, you know, brings up a lot of questions for me.

Victor: What kind of questions?

Adam: If I get my memory back and I decide to stay, what exactly are you expecting from me?

Victor: I missed you a great deal, you know? Not a day has gone by without... me wishing that we... could do it all over again -- have the kind of relationship and father and sons are supposed to have, you know?

Adam: And what is that?

Victor: Trusting each other. Working side by side.

Adam: Well, I-I don't remember anything about running a corporation.

Victor: You worked for me before, you know. It'll all come back to you. It's in your dna.

Adam: Hmm.

Victor: You graduated from harvard business school. Then you came to town, and you waged some legendary corporate battles. You even challenged me -- your own father.

Adam: That's a lot to absorb.

Victor: Yep. Let's leave it at that.

Adam: Mm.

Victor: Anything else you'd like to do?

Adam: Uh, maybe settle in.

Victor: Yeah.

Adam: Rest a bit.

Victor: Good idea. I'll check up on you, and, uh... if you want to meet someone else today...

Adam: We'll see.

Victor: All right. Okay. You rest, okay? Here are the keys. If you need anything, you just call me, all right?

[ Sighs heavily ] You know... it may not seem that way to you right now... but having you back... is a miracle.

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Lola: Hi. I'm so sorry I'm late. I was on the phone with rey.

Kyle: How's mia?

Lola: The doctor kept her overnight for observation. She and the baby seem to be okay, so fingers crossed.

Kyle: Ah. I'm glad you were able to sneak out of work.

Lola: Me, too, but didn't you have this big meeting with jack and summer?

Kyle: Well, it ended early.

Lola: How was she this morning?

Kyle: Hurting.

Lola: She put on quite a show last night.

Kyle: Yeah. Hopefully there won't be a repeat performance. We had a little chat about boundaries and accepting reality.

Lola: This reality?

Kyle: The one and only.

Summer: Uh, part of me feels guilty coming to you behind my mom's back, but I would feel guilty not saying anything. Y-you've just been so good to me, and I love this job.

Jack: Summer, summer, summer, what are we talking about here?

Summer: Uh, my mom's new accessory line.

Jack: Oh! I know all about that. She came here to try to pitch a tie-in with jabot. I already turned her down.

Summer: No, I know. Um...but the part that you don't know...is that even after you rejected her idea, she still tried to...piggyback off jabot anyway.

Jack: How so?

Summer: She used my online password to get into our computer system.

Jack: Hoping to find what?

Summer: Uh, the new design files so she could sell matching accessories.

Jack: Of course.

Summer: But when she couldn't find anything that helped her, she asked me to slip her files.

Jack: And you...?

Summer: I told her no.

Jack: That she would put you in this position is infuriating to me.

Summer: Well, I mean, I think that she just sees it as a harmless boost to her business.

Jack: Oh, I'm sure she did. It's not only unethical, it is illegal.

Summer: No, I know. That's why I told her no, and I-I love -- I love my mom, and i want her to succeed so badly, just not like this.

Jack: Okay. Thank you for coming to me with this. I know that had to be difficult.

Summer: Well, I think that she's dropped the idea anyway, so I just wanted to give you a heads up, just in case.

Jack: Okay. I will take it from here, and I won't mention that we had this conversation.

Summer: Okay. Thank you.

Jack: Summer.

Summer: Yeah?

Jack: You have proven how much working here means to you. I appreciate that, and I won't forget it.

Phyllis: I hear what you're saying. But, you know, the fact is... I got screwed over... by jabot, jack, the abbotts. And when someone knocks me down, I get up and I punch twice as hard.

Lauren: I know. And that's what makes you you. And I love you for that. But there is a difference between resilience and retribution.

Phyllis: Retribution is much more satisfying.

Lauren: But it can backfire. Sorry. Oh. I got to get back to the office.

Phyllis: Well, that makes one of us.

Lauren: Look... there's something far more satisfying than revenge on the abbotts. Build your company without them, something that you can be proud of... and do it on your own.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

[ Knock on door ]

Adam: Hey. Come in.

Sharon: Victor told me you were here. I-I just -- I thought I'd check in. How are you?

Adam: [ Sighs heavily ] Honestly?

Sharon: Of course.

Adam: I'm overwhelmed. Being here is, uh, a lot to digest.

Sharon: Well, you just have to take things slow.

Adam: Yeah. I, um, saw nick.

Sharon: Oh. Wow. How'd that go?

Adam: It was intense.

Sharon: I'm sure.

Adam: Yeah. Apparently, I've done a lot of bad things.

Sharon: You've done a lot of good things, too. You know, if you ever want to talk about it, I'm here.

Adam: Well, I --

Sharon: Or I-I could just leave you alone if that's better.

Adam: No. Actually, I'd like a little company, as long as it's you. I know we just met a day ago, but I guess we've actually known each other for --

Sharon: For a lifetime. And a day.

Adam: I feel like you're the only friend I have around here.

Sharon: I'm not the only one. Your family loves you.

Adam: [ Chuckles softly ] Victor said you live on the property, too. Did you live there when I knew you before?

Sharon: Yeah.

Adam: Tell me if you think this is weird, but do you think that I could see your house?

Sharon: Do you feel it could trigger something?

Adam: I figure it's worth a try.

Victor: He doesn't recognize me as his father, which is kind of peculiar, you know? But he has agreed to come home with me and stay for a while, which is promising.

Victoria: Does he seem like himself?

Victor: Mm...yes and no.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I just can't believe he's alive. I have so many questions.

Victor: Well, darling, everyone has questions, and i barraged him with questions while in vegas, and it almost backfired, so I don't want that to happen here, okay?

Victoria: Well, does he even want to see the rest of us?

Victor: Oh, yeah. He's anxious to see the rest of the family, but on his own terms, okay? So, um... I thought it might happen today, but I'm not so sure right now.

Nikki: I know you're trying to protect him, but you do have to think about the rest of the family, as well.

Victor: I know.

Nikki: We really should have known what was going on long before now.

Victoria: Yes, we should have. All of these secrets and lies -- it's as if you didn't trust us.

Victor: It's not that I don't trust you. I wanted to protect you. I heard from an old business associate of mine that he had seen adam in las vegas. I didn't believe it, so I flew out there to see for myself. And I didn't want to bring him home here and, you know, let alone meet the family unless i knew what we were dealing with.

Victoria: What are we dealing with?

Victor: Well, what we're dealing with is that your brother has returned... to our family. We all have our doubts, but i think it is incumbent upon us to give him a chance.

Lola: Well, I figured I owed you some food since we skipped breakfast this morning. So you better get your strength up so we can do round 2 tonight.

Kyle: Mm.

Lola: Mm.

Kyle: I better carb-load.

Lola: So, um, why didn't you tell me what I was missing out this whole time?

Kyle: Oh. I tried.

Lola: Well, we're making up for lost time. You know, it took us so long to get here, and... now I just want to spend every minute that I can together. Does that...sound crazy?

Kyle: Not to me. I feel the same way.

Sharon: Here it is -- home sweet home. What is it? Did you remember something?

Fit me foundation

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Jack: Hey! I'm glad I ran in to you. I was gonna ask if you wanted to have lunch with me.

Lauren: Oh, I wish I could, but I'm meeting michael. But I'll be back right after if you want to talk business.

Jack: Actually, I really just wanted to thank you for allowing me to bend your ear. It's been nice to have someone to talk to who isn't named abbott.

Lauren: [ Chuckles ] I'm always here for you. You have so much on your plate, with dina and the collective and all of that. You're not gonna eat alone, are you?

Jack: Hey, it's a steak salad, not a lifetime of loneliness.

Lauren: I know, but it just seems since kerry's been gone, there's been a void.

Jack: That's a void I can live with.

Lauren: Uh, yeah. We don't want another kerry. That's for sure. But maybe it's time that you, you know, get back out there.

Jack: Didn't you just tell me michael's waiting for you?

Lauren: [ Laughs ] Jack, unlike other people, what's true of you is that you're better when you're in a relationship. You're a man who loves love, a romantic in the most wonderful sense.

Jack: Thank you. Message received.

Lauren: [ Laughs ] And sermon is over. Okay. I'm going. But, jack... she's out there. You just need to find her.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Adam: It was just a flash of familiarity. And...now it's gone.

Sharon: Well, you wanted to see this place for a reason, and it seems to have sparked something, so that could be good.

Adam: Yeah. Maybe I was willing myself to react.

Sharon: Let's not overthink it. It was what it was. Maybe it'll lead to something else and all the puzzle pieces will just start falling together.

Adam: Sounds good. I think I could use some fresh air.

[ Sighs ]

Sharon: The ranch has plenty of that.

Adam: Hey... thank you... for this.

Sharon: We're neighbors, so don't hesitate to reach out.

Victoria: Well, it makes perfect sense. He might not remember who he is, but we do.

Nick: Right? Thank you. I mean, dad and sharon have bought his story hook, line, and sinker. I feel like they're the ones who have amnesia.

Victoria: Do you think he's telling the truth?

Nick: I don't know, vick. I mean, he -- he sounded sincere, you know? Part of what he said rang true. If I didn't know better --

Victoria: But we do. We know better. Adam is a master manipulator. And we can't afford to let our guards down, nick.

Kyle: Can we just stay here all day?

Lola: Yeah, I wish.

Kyle: When am I gonna see you tonight?

Lola: Oh, I forgot. I have to cover a dinner shift and a late shift.

Kyle: Nooooooooo!

Lola: I know. I mean, by the time I'm done, I'll probably be exhausted and you'll be asleep, so I should probably stay at my place tonight.

Kyle: You know... your place, my place... seems like one too many places.

Lola: I don't follow.

Kyle: What if we just had... our place?

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Jack: Well, that didn't take long.

Phyllis: Your vaguely threatening texts wind me up, I guess. You want to explain yourself?

Jack: That wasn't a threat. That was a warning.

Victoria: I thought talking to dad would make me feel better about adam being back, but it's actually the opposite.

Nick: Dad is very good at answering your questions without saying much.

Victoria: Oh, yes. He's definitely turned it into an art form. I don't doubt that dad is happy about adam being alive, but i have this nagging feeling that there's something more to dad bringing adam home -- something that he doesn't want us to know.

Victor: Well, kindly call me if there's anything else that i need to know, all right? Thank you.

[ Sighs ]

Nikki: Don't look at me like that.

Victor: Sweetheart, I know you're frustrated. What am I supposed to do? He's my boy!

Nikki: I know, and I would never ask you to turn your back on your child. It just seem strange, that's all. I mean, he was ready to write you off, and then after one conversation with sharon, he's ready to move home? And you agreed to it? I mean, after that quick 180 that adam did, I don't understand that. You didn't ask any questions, and you certainly didn't prepare the family this was happening.

Victor: Sweetheart, what am i supposed to do? He's my son!

Nikki: And, darling, nobody knows the lengths that we will go to for our children more than me. It's just that in this case, i worry that perhaps you're not quite thinking clearly.

Victor: I assure you that i am, all right?

Nikki: All right. Then I'll leave you be... to tend to adam.

Victor: Okay.

Nikki: But I need to say that my responsibility now is to the rest of the family.

Victor: Okay.

Nikki: On the off chance that you have thrown a grenade into it. I love you.

Victor: I love you.

Adam: [ Sighs ] [ Sighs ]
