Episode #11604 ~ Cane opens up to Jill, Traci searches for inspiration, and Abby worries about Devon.

Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Lily: I'm leaving first thing in the morning. I never meant to stay. I'm sorry.
Kyle: Nothing is going to stop us from being together. It's the way it should have been all along.
Mariah: I just can't wait for you to get into the studio with ana. Then you can share your new song with the world.
Lily: Elena seems nice.
Devon: Yeah, elena is nice.
Lily: Mm-hmm. Details.
Devon: This is our first date. There's no details.
Abby: Seems right, to honor neil here in some way.
Lola: That's really thoughtful.
Abby: I thought maybe people could leave cards or mementos. Everyone in town really loved him.
Lola: Abby, have you heard from devon? I can't imagine what he's going through right now.
Abby: A little, I mean, but he's hard to read. He still seems so shell-shocked.
Lola: Well, let me know if there's anything I can do. He's been so good to me. I only want to repay the favor.
Abby: Yeah. He's had a rough year. He can use all the love and support he can get.
Ana: Hey, what you doing?
Devon: I'm just checking stuff off my to-do list.
Ana: Good to stay busy.
Devon: Yeah.
Ana: Anything I can help with?
Devon: Um, actually, yeah. I wanted to follow up on the opening of the restaurant, but i don't have any messages or e-mails in my inbox, at all.
Ana: Oh, that's my fault. I had everything sent over to me. I wasn't sure if you wanted any reminders from that night.
Devon: Oh. I appreciate you doing that, but we can't pretend that society doesn't exist. It's a big investment for me. It needs my attention.
Ana: I understand.-So, you want to see some press?
Devon: I do, as long as it's positive.
Ana: Well, the opening was big success.
Devon: Yeah?
Ana: Everyone's talk about jett and his comeback and...
Devon: Nice, nice. Oh, good. Good. It was a hit.
Ana: It really is.
Devon: Yeah.
Ana: Neil would have been so proud of you. There's some great photos from opening, too. She looks so beautiful. Hilary's dress was perfect on her.
Devon: Yeah, she does.
Ana: So, what's going on with you two?
Abby: Reservations have been pouring in since opening night. Our dining room is completely booked for the next two weeks.
Lola: That's great.
Abby: It is, yeah, but... it's a lot of work. Are you sure you're up to it, back to your old self?
Lola: Of course I am. Thank you for waiting for me and for taking a chance on a rookie.
Abby: I should be thanking you. It's because of you and your food that's bringing people here, making this place an overnight success.
Lola: [ Giggles ] Are we an overnight success?
Abby: I think we are.
[ Giggles ]
[ Cellphone chimes ] Okay, what is more exciting than us talking about our dream-come-true restaurant?
Lola: Well, my dream is kind of coming true with kyle.
Abby: What about summer?
Lola: They're getting a divorce. And, okay, it's not like I'm happy or I'm gloating or anything like that, but... there's nothing standing in our way anymore. We're finally free to be together.
Kyle: [ Grunts ]
[ Sighs ]
Jill: I'm so glad I ran into you. Do you want to sit down for a few?
Cane: I just really don't have time at the moment, okay?
Jill: Uh, you just quit your job. You have something better to do? Maybe brush your hair, shave...? What's going on, cane? What happened?
Cane: I woke up with a renewed determination to win lily back. Instead, all I found was a goodbye note and a fresh set of divorce papers.
Jill: Oh, darling, I'm so sorry.
Cane: Lily's gone. She left.

Devon: Nothing is going on between elena and me.
Ana: But something's starting to happen?
Devon: Well, we went on one date.
Ana: Pretty special date.
Devon: Yeah. Yeah, that ended in someone passing away.
Ana: I know. I'm sorry, I --
Devon: No, it's all right. It's all right. I just -- the last thing I need to be thinking about is dating.
Ana: I hear you. But I'm not so sure. I mean, I keep thinking about what malcolm said, after the funeral, that neil would want the people that he loved to celebrate the joys of life. That's how he lived.
Devon: I know he did, but... it makes me feel a little selfish when I think about "why do I deserve to be happy when neil and hilary can't anymore?"
Ana: Aww. Hilary would want you to be able to move on.
Devon: Right. Do you mind if we talk about something else?
Ana: Sure.
[ Doorbell rings ] Oh, I think that's tessa.
Devon: Oh.
Ana: She's here to sign her contract.
Devon: Good. Good.
Tessa: Hi.
Ana: And she's not alone!
Mariah: Yeah, sorry, I just wanted to be here for the big moment.
Devon: Hey, guys. Hey, hey.
Mariah: Hey. How you doing?
Devon: I'm good, I'm hanging in there.
Mariah: Yeah?
Devon: Yeah. How are you?
Tessa: We've been thinking about you.
Devon: Oh. Thank you for your note, too.
Mariah: You know, if there's anything that you need from us, or any gc buzz work you want to delegate...
Devon: Oh, no, no. I got it all taken care of.
Tessa: Any little errands that you need us to take care of...
Devon: You're gonna go back to your assistant days?
Mariah: Or to just grab a coffee or a movie, just talk.
Devon: No. No, no, no, no. I'm okay, you don't have to worry about me, but do I have to worry about you?
Mariah: What do you mean?
Devon: I heard that someone threw a brick through the window of crimson lights.
Mariah: Oh! Yeah. You know, it was probably just a fan who hated my latest hairstyle.
Devon: Well, geez, I mean... I wish you would have told me.
Mariah: Well, I was going to, but it's something that I didn't think that you needed to be concerned with right now.
Devon: No, I -- I care about you, so of course I'd want to know when anything like that happens. Were there any other incidents, or...?
Mariah: No. No. It was a one-time deal.
Devon: Okay. I can give you security detail.
Mariah: No! I -- I promise you, that's not necessary. Besides, I have the best bodyguard in the world right there.
Devon: Okay. All right, well, please let me know if anything like that happens again, will you?
Mariah: I will. I promise.
Devon: Thanks.
Mariah: And friendship goes both ways, so be sure to call, all right?
Devon: I will. I will. Appreciate that. Um, I think that my sister has everything under control, so I'm gonna step out.
Ana: Oh, you don't have to leave.
Devon: Yeah, I don't need to be here for you guys to plot your world domination.
Ana: Oh, girls run the world. But that doesn't mean we can make room for you.
Devon: Oh, no, no, no. I'm fine. I'm gonna just get some air, okay? I'll see you guys later.
Ana: All right, well, please, take a seat.
Jill: Lily didn't even give you the opportunity to say goodbye in person?
Cane: Yeah, well, I suppose she probably thought I would plead my case one last timE.
Jill: Well, she could have at least allowed you that.
Cane: Yeah, I don't know. I don'T. Maybe that would be me taking advantage of the situation, you know? I mean, her dad died, so i suppose the last thing she wants to do is talking about our marriage, right?
Jill: Well, maybe you're right. I mean, in all honesty, neil's passing didn't change a thing between the two of you.
Cane: You know what the bottom line is, though? She would have rather have coped with losing her father on her own than lean on me. You know what that says about me as a husband?
Jill: [ Scoffs ]
Cane: It says I've failed her in every way that was important, that's what it says.
Jill: Don't do this. Don't go down this rabbit hole. This doesn't lead anywhere good.
Cane: What's the alternative?
Jill: I'll tell you. Find yourself a purpose and focus on it.
Cane: Yeah. Well, I do have the kids.
Jill: Mnh-mnh. Not for very long. Two more weeks, they'll be out school, then they're gonna be joining lily, and you got plenty of help with sam. You need to go back to chancellor. You never should have left there.
Cane: All right, listen. My decision to leave chancellor was neither spontaneous nor was it, uh, random, okay? Look, I need to make a change in my life that is real.
Jill: For lily? You're hoping that that will bring her back to you?
Cane: I don't know. Maybe not right away. Maybe never. But I keep thinking maybe if i make these meaningful adjustments, there's a chance, you know?
Jill: Oh, sweetheart. You are nothing if not tenacious, I will give you that. I just don't want you holding out hope for too long.
Traci: Why not?
Jill: Hello, traci. We were just having a private conversation.
Cane: I'm glad you could make it.
Traci: Thank you.
Cane: Hey. Come here.
Traci: Thank you.
Cane: Yeah.
Jill: Hmm. [ Chuckles ] You don't time for coffee with me, but you do for traci abbott?
Jill: So, I didn't realize that the two of you were having heart-to-hearts these days.
Traci: And I'm confused why this is strange to you. I'm mattie and charlie's godmother.
Jill: Oh, yeah, I forgot that. Well, anyway, I wasn't being critical. I was just caught off guard, that's all.
Traci: And my heart goes out to the whole family right now.
Jill: And I'm sure they appreciate it.
Cane: Yeah, yeah. Traci's been a real source of support for me lately.
Jill: Oh, good. Good. I'm so glad that you had someone to talk to -- while I was gone. I happen to be back now, though.
Cane: You're not gonna turn this into a competition, are you? Seriously?
Jill: I wouldn't do that, cane. That would be very petty, wouldn't it?
[ Laughing ] I'm sorry. I am grateful, I honestly am. I'm grateful. Okay? As a a matter of fact, join us for dinner tonight. I've booked a table at society. I can't to try out genoa city's newest hot-spot. Hmm?
Traci: Um, all right. That sounds lovely. Thank you.
Jill: Good, and how about you? Would you like to go out on the town with a lovely lady on each arm?
Cane: Um... maybe another time, all right? I'm not really up for it.
Jill: Darling, I don't want you to go home and wallow in all this negativity.
Cane: Okay.
Traci: I'm with jill on this. I think a night out might be a nice distraction for you.
Cane: All right, I understand that, but I think I'll just be terrible company. You guys should just go without me, okay?
Devon: Hey, guys.
Jett: Hey.
Elena: Hey.
Devon: Hey.
Elena: How are you?
Devon: I am much better. Thank you. And thank you both for giving me some space the last few days. I really appreciate it.
Jett: As far as I'm concerned, we're family. Look, you were there for me in my lowest moment, and I'm here for you now.
Devon: Thank you, jett. Thank you. I really do appreciate that. Neil's passing was a big shock for all of us, but, uh, it doesn't mean that life stops. Neither can I. I just got to stay focused and keep pushing forward. That's the best we can do.
Abby: I am so excited for you and kyle.
Lola: Thank you.
Abby: It was only a matter of time before kyle came to his senses and kicked summer to the curb. I mean, everyone could see that they were a huge mistake.
Lola: Everyone except summer.
Abby: Hopefully you won't have to interact with her much anymore.
Lola: Actually, I ran into her earlier today.
Abby: How did that go? Was there hair-pulling and face-scratching? No judgment if there was because it couldn't have been any worse than my valentine's day massacre with mia.
Lola: No, no. It was nothing like that. She was actually really grown-up about it.
Abby: That is so not like summer, but okay, I will take that over the alternative.
Lola: I don't know, I will always be extremely conflicted when it comes to summer. I owe her my life.
Abby: Okay, yeah, I guess, but... you know what, let's not talk about summer anymore. Let's talk about you and kyle and your future together. Oh, my gosh, what was in that text that made your face light up?
Lola: He's planning a romantic evening for us tonight to celebrate.
Abby: Enjoy it. You deserve a celebration. I can only imagine how amazing it's gonna be.
Kyle: And here we are.
Lola: Mm, I remember this room.
Kyle: I haven't been able to forget.
Lola: Well, you promised that we'd be back.
Kyle: A promise I was determined to keep. Ow! [ Coughs ]
Lola: Ow!
Kyle: That stings.
Lola: Did you go the wrong way, or did I?
Kyle: Mm, I don't know.
[ Laughs ] Let's try this again. You go left this time.
Lola: Okay.
Kyle: Ow! Again?
Lola: Oh, no. This can't be happening. Ouch! Um, you know what, let's just hold off on the kissing...
Kyle: Mm-hmm.
Lola: You just sit right here and watch.
Kyle: I can do that.
Lola: Mmm.
Kyle: Ow!
Lola: Oh, my god, I am so sorry, let me help you --
Kyle: Oh! Maybe -- maybe stop helping.
Lola: Come on, lola. Think positive.
Kyle: And here we are.
Lola: Wow. This is so romantic. You ordered us dinner...
Kyle: For later. Or not at all, if you don't have an appetite.
Lola: I don'T.
Kyle: Uh...
Lola: What's wrong?
Kyle: Uh... nothing.
Lola: It's obviously something. What's wrong with me?
Kyle: Nothing. Everything's fine. I just think maybe we're taking this a little fast.
Lola: What?!
[ Cellphone chimes ]
Devon: So now I've already gotten calls from agents and producers wondering if you're gonna make a new album, and i got promoters hounding me, wondering if you're gonna go back on the road. So I think that it's something that we should at least have a discussion about.
Jett: Hey, I'm listening...
Devon: Okay, um, well, i think touring is an easy thing for you because you can always just do your greatest hits. You've got such a great catalogue of music. But if, you know, you're serious about making a new album, then we need to -- we need to find you some new material.
Jett: I mean, I've got a few half-written in my head, and, i mean, I'd love to collaborate with ana, if she's interested. But a tour? I mean, that's, uh... that's a little ambitious.
Elena: It's a lot more ambitious.
Jett: Oh, boy.
Elena: We have to be careful. With your health and your voice. You sang two songs, and they were beautiful, but that's not the same thing as recording an album or doing 10 cities in a month.
Devon: For sure. I absolutely agree with you. We all need to settle on a schedule that won't be too taxing on your vocal cords or wear you out.
Jett: And we'll take it one step at a time. The last thing I want to is blow my second chance I've been given.
Devon: Right, and I wouldn't let you do that, jett. How about we all get together for dinner tonight, and we can discuss this a little more?
Jett: Um... dinner's not great for me tonight.
Devon: No?
Jett: Yeah, I'm an old man. I need my rest.
Devon: Okay.
Jett: But, I mean, that doesn't mean you two couldn't go, though. I mean, you could act as my agent. She's kind of doing that anyway, so...
Elena: Mm-hmm, if by that, you mean your advocate who has your best interest at heart, then you're right.
Devon: Well, hey, I only want to talk to the person who's in charge, so... what do you say?
Elena: Dinner it is.
You, uh, sure your lady's gonna like this?
Kyle: I'm positive.
Uh, you maybe don't want to try something a little snazzier?
Kyle: [ Sighs ] The woman I'm doing this for doesn't want anything fancy. Trust me on it.
Abby: I have been getting a ton of compliments about the fricassee-for-two.
Lola: Great.
Abby: I don't know what you put in there, but couples are raving about it like it's an aphrodisiac, or something.
Lola: Uh-huh.
Abby: Or maybe they're just preoccupied about possibly getting it on later.
Lola: What?
Abby: Okay, why don't you just go? We can handle the dinner rush without you.
Lola: No. No, not gonna happen. I can get ready and shower in the staff room.
Abby: I appreciate your work ethic, but this could be a big night for you and kyle, right?
Lola: Yeah. The night.
Abby: Are you nervous?
Lola: Okay, look, I know he loves me, and I'm ready, but, you know, I just -- I want it to be perfect, abby.
Abby: Look, I -- I get all of the pressure around it being the first time, but, look, this is not the end-all, be-all for you guys. This is the just the beginning of a long journey.
Lola: [ Sighs ] But there's so many unknowns.
Abby: And that's what makes it exciting. The first time you're with someone, you don't know what to expect. I mean, I was so nervous the first time with arturo.
Lola: Whoa! Left turn. I do not need to know anything about my brother's sex life, abby!
Abby: I'm just saying. That's the fun part. The butterflies, the newness, the anticipation...
Lola: The things that could go wrong. I mean, what if he sees me, you know, and he's like, "yeah, no."
Abby: Okay, you are being crazy.
Lola: No, okay? What if there's no chemistry in that way?
Abby: You guys are obviously attracted to each other. I mean, being in love only intensifies that.
Lola: Okay, but I don't have experience. What if I can satisfy his...
Abby: Okay, let me tell you something, um.... for guys, it's like pizza. There is no bad pizza.
Lola: I have tried bad pizza.
Abby: Ugh, lola!
Lola: Okay, kyle and summer obviously have this insane connection in the bedroom, right? And he's probably had a lot of experience with women... and, you know, what if I can't measure up?
Abby: You are above and beyond anyone kyle has ever even thought about. He is hopelessly in love with you.
Lola: Yeah, so what if i can't meet his expectations?
Abby: Okay, let me ask you a question. Do you trust him?
Lola: Yes.
Abby: Do you love him?
Lola: Yes.
Abby: Then that's all that matters. Trust and love will take over. And when you look at him and you see him staring back at you, all of the other stuff is just gonna melt away.
Lola: [ Sighs ] You're the best. Thank you.
Abby: Mm!
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Ana: Well, now that the contract is signed, it's time for the hard work.
Tessa: Bring it.
Ana: So, I'm going to e-mail you over a schedule with our studio times, and our stylist sent over some ideas for your new look.
Mariah: A new look?
Ana: Yeah. To go with her new image and revamped music style.
Tessa: Ooh! Oh.
Mariah: Oh.
Tessa: Wow.
Mariah: Wow, you know, I'm sorry, but none of these really feel like tessa. I mean, that one kind of looks like it's from outer space, kind of like an amazon alien lady.
Ana: It's avant-garde.
Mariah: You know, I would love your hair any color, but are you sure you see yourself as blonde?
Tessa: You know, I'm just happy to have a stylist, so...
Ana: Oh, none of these are final. We're just trying to introduce the world to a whole new tessa.
Mariah: What's wrong with the old tessa?
Ana: Nothing. We just want to erase any memory people might have her of her being busted for plagiarism and being dropped from the label. No offense.
Tessa: No, no, no, no. None taken. It happened, so...
Ana: Mm-hmm.
Mariah: I totally get your logic behind that, but... I'm afraid that her essence might get lost with some crazy costume or hairstyle, and what she has is so unique. I just want that to shine through.
Ana: I hear you. And if we cultivate the right image for her, it will only enhance her voice and the music.
Mariah: That's great. Great. Maybe we could just look for something that feels a little bit more her.
Ana: Or maybe we should start by focusing on the music first.
Tessa: Absolutely, because i cannot wait to get into the studio.
Ana: Me, too.
Traci: I can't believe that neil is really gone.
[ Sighs ] He was too young.
Jill: Yeah, that he was.
Traci: When colleen died, he gave the most heartfelt eulogy. I remember he said some things that just stick in my mind bright as day. He said that she knew when to let lily cry and how to make lily laugh, and that's neil. He was like that to everyone. He was such a good friend.
Jill: He was. He was.
Traci: He also said that my sweet girl would continue to watch over all of us. And now he's up there helping her.
Jill: He used to look after everybody. When we used to visit them on the holidays, you know, cane and lily and the kids, oh, those were some of my best memories.
Traci: [ Chuckles ] Mm-hmm.
Jill: All those early christmases with charlie and mattie, and the way he doted on them...
[ Sighs ] Oh, my god. It's such a shame to think that that family may be falling apart now.
Traci: It was the last thing that neil would want, and his heart was breaking for everyone.
Jill: No doubt of that. I'm so glad he got to spend time with lily at lakewood, though, standing by her side, talking through all the problems, giving her advice, giving her counsel. I wish I'd be here more for cane, to do that for him. But I'm glad he had you.
Traci: Oh...
Jill: No. No, no, no, no. I mean, really.
Traci: Well, he has been doing some serious introspection, and it is inspiring to watch.
Jill: Mm.
Traci: I'm sort of holding out hope that they'll be able to work this out.
Jill: You know, I hope that, too, I really do, but... sometimes, marriages just run their course. We've had a few of those, yes?
Traci: [ Chuckles ]
Jill: I just hope that he's not holding on to some unrealistic fantasy.
Traci: Well, I'm sure he's working through it the best he can.
Jill: Mm.
Abby: Hi, ladies! I just wanted to make sure you're enjoying your meal.
Jill: Oh, it's great.
Abby: Good.
Traci: Oh, sweetie, it was wonderful. Will you please pass along our compliments to lola?
Abby: Well, I will let you tell her yourself.
Traci: Oh!
Abby: Lola!
Traci: Hi, honey.
Lola: Hi!
Traci: Hi. Lola, this is jill. Jill's billy's mother.
Jill: Hi.
Traci: Lola rosales.
Lola: Nice to meet you.
Jill: Nice to meet you.
Lola: I hope everything was okay.
Jill: Great. It was great.
Traci: It was magnificent. Everything you're doing here is so creative.
Jill: And she is a sucker for creative types.
[ Laughter ]
Traci: I am. I love an active imagination, and you obviously have one.
Lola: It runs wild sometimes.
Traci: Yeah, mine does, too.
[ Laughter ] Oh! There's devon.
Jill: Oh, let's say hello to him.
Abby: Hi!
Devon: Hey, guys. Hey.
Jill: Hi, sweetheart. How are you doing?
Devon: I'm doing all right. How you doing?
Jill: Good, good, good, good.
Traci: Hello. We've been thinking about you.
Devon: Oh, thank you.
Lola: I'm so sorry for your loss.
Abby: The restaurant is running perfectly, so you have nothing to worry about.
Devon: Good. Good. That's nice to hear, and i really appreciate your guys' concern. I do. This is my friend elena.
Elena: Hi.
Jill: Hello.
Abby: It's so good to see you again. Any friend of devon's is welcome here anytime.
Elena: Thanks.
Devon: Thanks. We're actually here to discuss business, so...
Elena: Nice to meet you.
Abby: Great! I have the perfect spot. Follow me.
Devon: Okay.
Elena: Bye.
Jill: Bye!
Devon: Good to see you guys.
Jill: Bye.
Abby: Please, have a seat.
Elena: Thanks.
Abby: If you need anything at all, please, let me know.
Devon: Thank you very much.
Elena: You know, there are a lot of people who care about you here.
Devon: Yeah. I know. I know, and I'm very grateful for that, too. But, uh, the thing is, you know, no matter how many people want to try and be there for you, you always have to go through it alone.
Ana: So I will see you first thing tomorrow morning.
Tessa: Oh, I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.
Mariah: I'll bring coffee and scones.
Ana: Mariah, don't -- don't take this the wrong way, but we're not gonna be hanging out. This is a work session, and the people working are going to be me, tessa, the engineer, and the studio musicians.
Mariah: Yeah, no, that's okay.
Ana: It just seems to work better with as few people there as possible.
Mariah: I totally understand. I get it.
Tessa: Are you sure?
Mariah: Yeah, yeah. Of course. I want you guys to do the best work that you can possibly do, no distractions.
Ana: Well, thank you for understanding, and I will see you tomorrow?
Tessa: Yes.
Mariah: Bye.
Tessa: Bye! Are you sure you're okay?
Mariah: Yeah. Totally. You know, I've got a lot of work to do tomorrow anyway, so...
Tessa: Well, I will spill every detail when I get home.
Traci: It was 1946.
America had won the war
overseas, but flynn has lost
the war at home.
His wife had left him a shell
of a man, down on his luck,
lonely, and heartbroken.
[ Sighs ]
Traci: Wondering where it all
went wrong.
Elena: I've probably seen my uncle perform at least 100 times as a kid. My mom used to put me on her shoulders so I could see.
Devon: Aww.
Elena: And then she would cover my ears any time there was word I shouldn't hear.
Devon: [ Chuckles ]
Elena: Yeah, I don't know. I guess going to my uncle's shows was just a regular part of our lives. I didn't realize until recently how special it was.
Devon: Now, jett and your mom -- that's her brother?
Elena: Yeah. I never knew my father.
Devon: Now, are your mom and jett close?
Elena: They were.
Devon: They were. What happened?
Elena: My mother passed away recently.
Devon: Oh, my god. I'm -- I'm very sorry.
Elena: For my loss? Yeah. I hate those words as much as you do.
Devon: Yeah. They don't really do anything.
Elena: Nope. And I really hate when I get the "oh, you poor thing" look. Yeah, even though I know they mean well, I just want to punch them in the face.
Devon: [ Chuckles ] I'd like to see you do that.
Elena: Anyway, you're handling your father's passing a lot better than I handled my mother'S. I was a complete mess.
Devon: Really? I kind of find that hard to believe. Was -- was her passing sudden, like neil's?
Elena: I don't really like to talk about it.
Devon: Hey, nobody understands more than me. We don't have to at all.
Elena: Cool, um, can we go back to the music?
Devon: Pleas, let's go back to the music, yeah. [ Chuckles ]
Abby: Hi! I am so happy for you and lola. She filled me in on everything. You did the right thing.
Kyle: I think so. And don't sound so surprised.
Abby: Speaking of surprises, do you want to tell me what you got going on later? Maybe you need some advice.
Kyle: Eh, I've got it covered. Thanks.
Abby: Okay. Whatever. Be the guy I know you can be tonight, okay?
Kyle: Is lola around?
Abby: I tried to get her to go home early, but she's been slaving over the stove. She might not be all glammed up.
Kyle: I don't care if she's wearing a burlap sack.
Lola: Hi.
Kyle: Hi.
Lola: Am I dressed okay for whatever we're doing?
Kyle: You look incredible.
Lola: Okay, so you're not going to tell me where we're going?
Kyle: Eh, you'll know soon enough. It's not far.
Abby: Bye! Have fun!
Kyle: [ Sighs ] What's with her?
Lola: [ Giggles ]
Cane: Hey, it's me. Um... I just wanted to call and, um, make sure you got back to lakewood today. And I want you to know that I won't be calling you again. Because, as much as it hurts, I want to respect your wishes. Um... but I want you to know, also, that I will love you till my dying days, and, um...
[ Exhales sharply ] Goodbye, baby.
Devon: Okay, so, what was the first concert you ever went to?
Elena: My uncle, of course.
Devon: Oh, yeah.
Elena: But during his short-lived pop phase.

Elena: Yeah. From the '90s?
Devon: Yes. Yes. That one.
Elena: Wait, how old are you?
Devon: Ouch -- "how old are you?" I was in kindergarten.
Elena: [ Laughs ]
Devon: What? What is funny about that?
Elena: I'm just trying to imagine you as a little kid.
Devon: I -- am I funny-looking? I was a cute kid!
Elena: [ Laughs ] I bet you were. Oh! Devon?
Devon: What?
Elena: Are you okay? You went somewhere.

Lola: Oh! Well, why are we here?
Kyle: Just wait for it... close your eyes. When I take this off, close your eyes. Keep them closed. Open them.
Lola: [ Gasps ] Oh! It's perfect.
