Rey: The baby's my family. The question is, is it mine or arturo's?

Jack: What is it you're after?

Kyle: I have to tell summer. I owe it to her to tell her the truth before we take the next step.

Summer: At least you had the decency to feel guilty about it.

Summer: But I'm not gonna freak out about it. I forgive you.

Kyle: [ Stammers ] Obviously I didn't break up with her last night.

Jack: Then you didn't tell her how close you and lola came to --

Kyle: Actually, I did.

Jack: Okay, now I'm officially confused.

Kyle: I told summer everything. And she said she understood that I'd want to see if there was still something between lola and me.

Jack: Did you tell her that there was?

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Jack: That there is?

Kyle: I-I couldn'T. Not yet.

Jack: Oh, kyle.

Kyle: Look, I-I know you're worried about phyllis using the photos to hurt jabot.

Jack: No, I am more worried about you. But, yes, I did "convince" phyllis not to leak those photos to the press.

Kyle: What about her plan to force you to sell jabot's share in fenmore's?

Jack: Dead on arrival. Lauren is fully on board with our vision for jabot collective.

Kyle: Glad that's settled, at least.

Jack: Well, you have to take care of the rest.

Kyle: [ Snorts softly ] Breaking summer's heart.

Jack: Just remember, summer is phyllis' daughter.

Kyle: Which means she's going to be thinking about payback.

Jack: She could make things very difficult for you and lola. Not to mention jabot.

Kyle: So I have to figure out a way to convince summer

she doesn't want to be with me.

Abby: When I didn't hear from you, I thought you'd accepted it was over between us.

Arturo: I went away for a while to work some things out.

Abby: I hope you did.

Arturo: Now that I've had time to think about everything --

Abby: Look, arturo, um... I'm really glad you were able to get some perspective, but I have nothing to say to you.

Arturo: Five minutes, abby, that's all.

Abby: Fine. Go ahead.

Arturo: I'm sorry. Straight up. No excuses. I'm not blaming anybody. I made an epically bad choice.

Abby: I know.

Arturo: And I've been thinking about what you said about me being more in love with the idea of you than I am with you.

Abby: And I still believe that.

Arturo: Well, it's hard to admit, but there is some truth to it.

Abby: Well, if you're trying to make me feel better, major fail.

Arturo: Abby, I've never been with someone like you. Okay, the life you lead -- limos, champagne, designer clothes -- it's hard not to get caught up in all of that.

Abby: Meaning what? You had to get back to your roots?

Arturo: Meaning I was never in it for the flash. I loved you. I still do.

Abby: What? You want me to forgive you? Take you back?

Arturo: I am here to own what I did. Okay? I messed up. What happened with mia meant absolutely nothing to me.

Abby: So you threw away-what we had for no reason.

Arturo: Which makes me an even bigger idiot.

Abby: No argument here.

Arturo: That's not the person I want to be. A man who only cares about himself, who hurts people he claims to love. I want to be better than that.

Abby: Is that what you wanted to say?

Arturo: One more thing. Abby, I'm sorry, from the bottom of my heart, for any pain that I caused you. And if nothing else, I really hope you believe that.

Christine: Asking rey to investigate his sister's assault was risky.

Paul: Really? I thought it was a bold choice.

Christine: [ Scoffs ] He's proven he can't be trusted.

Paul: Yeah, well, I'm giving him a chance to prove otherwise.

Christine: You're testing him.

Paul: Well... [ Sighs ] I hope he passes.

Christine: Afraid he won't?

Paul: I thought it was really strange that, when lola's case went cold, he backed way off. You'd think he would be demanding answers about who hurt his sister.

Christine: At that time, he was more concerned about finding her a donor.

Paul: Yeah, maybe. I just get the feeling he knows more than he's saying.

Rey: [ Sighs ] Hey.

Sharon: Hi. I wasn't expecting you.

Rey: Can I come in?

Sharon: Of course. Sure.

Rey: Thank you

Sharon: What's up?

Rey: [ Clears throat ] Um, there's something I need to tell you.

Sharon: You're kind of freaking me out.

Rey: [ Sighs ] Sorry. I'm sorry. This isn't easy. We just... we said no more secrets.

Rey: What I'm about to tell you could put you in a difficult position.

Sharon: But if it would help to confide in me --

Rey: It would.

Sharon: Then just tell me.

Rey: [ Sighs ] I know who attacked lola.

Sharon: What?

Rey: It was mia.

Sharon: Why would mia attack lola?

Rey: [ Sighs ] She wouldn'T.

Sharon: I don't understand.

Rey: Mia went to the abbott house to confront abby. To tell her to back off arturo. She couldn't stand the thought of her and arturo together.

Sharon: What does lola have to do with any of that?

Rey: She was wearing abby's coat.

Sharon: So mia thought she was abby.

Rey: Yeah. She swears she didn't mean to hurt lola or abby. It was just a prank that went really wrong. She pushed her and ran away. She didn't know that she hit her head or was unconscious.

Sharon: So you knew all of this and you didn't arrest her?

Rey: [ Scoffs ] I started to arrest her. But then she told me she was pregnant. I didn't know what to do.

Sharon: You chose to protect her.

Rey: I chose to protect the baby.

Sharon: Okay. No, I -- I get that. Totally. What are you gonna do if the baby is arturo's?

Rey: If that's the case, part of me wants to let the truth come out. Walk away.

Sharon: And the other part?

Rey: The baby may not be mine, but it doesn't deserve to be born in prison.

Sharon: So you're just gonna keep mia's secret forever?

Rey: I was hoping it would become a cold case.

Sharon: Haven't you heard? Gcpd never gives up.

Rey: [ Scoffs ] Yeah. Paul's not letting this one go.

Sharon: Do they have a new lead?

Rey: They have a new investigator -- me.

Sharon: Paul fired you.

Rey: Yeah. This is my chance to get back on the force.

Sharon: By solving this case.

Rey: Yep.

Sharon: Does it seem like a weird coincidence to you?

Rey: No. Not a chance. Paul knows something's off. He's testing me.

Christine: What makes you think rey knows more than he's saying?

Paul: Well, when I asked him who might want to hurt abby, the first person he came up with was mia. And he also admitted that the two women argued that night.

Christine: Okay, well, that sounds like the opposite of withholding information.

Paul: Right. He also told me that he had already spoken with her, and that she had an alibi. And mia's alibi was her own brother-in-law. She was with arturo that night of the attack. And when I mean with him, he's the reason that, uh, rey's marriage broke up.

Christine: So it sounds like arturo might be the one who's lying.

Paul: Mm. My gut's telling me they're both in this together.

Christine: So what are you gonna do?

Paul: I'm gonna keep a very close eye on all of them. Hey.

Nikki: I-I'm sorry to bother you. Your office said I could find you here.

Paul: Well, they're right. Um, is everything okay?

Nikki: I need your help.

Paul: With what?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Victor.

Abby: Who the hell do you think you are, showing up at my restaurant, acting like you own the place?

Mia: I'm not leaving unless arturo comes with me.

Arturo: Yeah, well, you can forget about that.

Mia: Then I'm staying.

Abby: Okay. How 'bout this -- both of you, get out. Now!

Arturo: [ Scoffs ] All right. We'll leave. I really hope that --

Abby: Still waiting.

[ Sighs shakily ]

Rey: I know I'm asking a lot.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] What's covering up one more crime?

Rey: [ Scoffs ] I hate asking you to do that, but I couldn't stand lying to you.

Sharon: Must be hard for you, keeping a secret like this.

Rey: Some days I look in the mirror, I don't recognize myself.

Sharon: You're the same man you've always been.

Rey: I'm not sure paul agrees.

Sharon: He doesn't know you as well as I do.

Rey: [ Sighs ] Sharon, if this blows up, it's --

Sharon: Let's just hope that it doesn'T. And no matter what, I'm gonna be by your side.

Paul: Has something happened to victor?

Nikki: No. Well, uh, I don't know. Um... he's been making regular trips to nevada recently, and I don't know why.

Paul: Are you sure it's not on business?

Nikki: We don't have any projects there.

Paul: Maybe it's one you're not aware of.

Nikki: That's possible. But I-I just can't shake this feeling that there's more to it.

Paul: Okay. Um... why don't you ask him?

Nikki: He's away.

Paul: Nevada again?

Nikki: I-I'm not sure. I did speak to him this morning, and he was evasive about where he is and what he's doing.

Paul: Okay. What do you want me to do?

Nikki: I was wondering if you could use your contacts to find out what he's up to. All right, I-I know how you both feel about him, but... I was hoping you could set that aside.

Paul: It's not that, nikki. It's, unless a crime has been committed, there's not much the police can do.

Nikki: Well, could you help me unofficially? I'm willing to pay you.

Paul: [ Sighs ] Even if I had the time, my P.I. Days are behind me.

Nikki: So I can't change your mind?

Paul: Sorry. You know, I-I wouldn't worry. Uh, it's -- it's probably victor just being victor.

[ Sighs ]

Summer: Hey. I thought you were headed to the office?

Jack: Hey. I'm waiting for dina's nurse to get here.

Summer: [ Sighing ] Oh. Um... is kyle here?

Jack: No, he's not.

Summer: Oh, um, well, maybe you and I can discuss those ideas that I have for the collective.

Jack: Uh, sure. What do you got?

Summer: Okay, so, you agreed that using influencers to get eyes on our products would be a great way to drive sales.

Jack: Well, your generation is following them in droves.

Summer: Well, I put together a list of the ones that I think would help give the collective a high profile. So, it's a diverse group that i think would actually really appeal to the younger demos.

Jack: Sounds good.

Summer: Um, it's actually a mix of celebrity vloggers, actors, singers, and even some young, hot politicians.

Jack: Politicians deciding what's fashionable? There's a first for everything.

Summer: Okay, so, if you click on this file here, that is the red-carpet events for the next six months. And like I said before, we should really focus on getting celebrities to wear our clothes, our jewelry, our makeup. If they're wearing jabot, then everyone else will want to.

Jack: This is very impressive. You covered things here our marketing and publicity department didn't even touch.

Rey: Something happen to him?

Nikki: He's taken a number of trips to las vegas.

Rey: Well, that doesn't seem like a cause for alarm.

Nikki: A-and it may not be. But I'm willing to pay you to find out what he's doing there.

Summer: I hate putting you in the middle like this.

Summer: Even if he secretly hopes that I will come to my senses and find that happiness at newman?

Mia: Because rey's been assigned to the case, and they're looking at anyone who had a beef with abby.

Abby: So abby humiliated you, and you went to confront her, and you nearly killed my sister.

Mia: I would never hurt lola.

Arturo: Yeah, but you wouldn't hesitate to put abby in the hospital.

Mia: Is that what you think of me?

Arturo: Mia, you do not want to know what I think of you.

Mia: I didn't do this.

Arturo: I have no idea if what you're telling me is even true, but I really don't get why you would think for a second that I would ever lift a finger to help you.

Mia: Because I'm pregnant. And the baby could be yours.

Paul: Oh, it's never a good idea to come between nikki and victor. I've learned that over the years. Now, you know what, this police-chief thing is a full-time gig.

Christine: Yeah, same with this D.A. Thing. Which I have to get back to. You sticking around?

Paul: Yeah. There's a couple of things I want to review before I take off.

Christine: Okay. Um...

Paul: What?

Christine: How about a hot date tonight?

Paul: [ Snorts ] What do you have in mind?

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Uh, I'll let you decide.

Paul: [ Laughs ] Well, that's easy. Pizza and bowling. That's a no-brainer.

Rey: Look who decided to come out from the under the cloak of shame. You get my messages?

Arturo: [ Clears throat ] Yeah. I got them.

Rey: That's all you're gonna say?

Rey: Yeah, yeah. You know what, we got bigger problems now. Maybe I should say bigger problems because of that.

Arturo: She told me. She told me she's pregnant.

[ Sighs ] A baby. I-I never saw that one coming.

Arturo: I suck as a brother.

Rey: We will deal with that later. Right now, we have to take care of its mother.

Rey: I'm not talking about money. You need to do whatever mia asks.

Arturo: I'm gonna do whatever I got to do to protect that baby.

Abby: It wasn't, actually. He was honest and remorseful. He didn't try to defend his actions or make excuses.

Lola: So it sounds like it was a good talk.

Abby: Mm. He said he had thought about the things that I said to him before he left. It was like he was a different person.

Lola: So, a wonderful talk, then.

Abby: Until a dark cloud blew in and ruined everything.

Lola: Let me guess -- mia.

Abby: I think she has a tracking device on arturo.

Lola: You have to tell security to keep her out.

Abby: It doesn't matter. Even if she hadn't walked in on arturo and me, she was there, in between us, like she always is.

Jack: Well, this represents my new idea for jabot.

Jack: This is a-a vision i have for the company that's gonna make it bigger and better than ever.

Dina: [ Scoffs ] How?

Jack: Well, uh, we're going to expand the fashion division first, and then we're going to market all of our products together as a lifestyle package.

Dina: Huh. Lifestyle what?

Jack: Well, it's a new thing that appeals to the younger demo.

Dina: Oh, I see.

Jack: But I think it's gonna take jabot to a new level. What do you think?

Dina: I think you're ruining your father's legacy.

Nikki: I'm going to find out what you're up to, victor.

Paul: Well, I thought we could talk more freely here.

Rey: I'm afraid I don't have any big news for you.

Paul: Tell me what you do have.

Rey: Arturo confirmed that he was with mia the night lola was attacked.

Paul: Okay. Uh, any leads on other suspects?

Rey: Nothing. But I think we may have been coming at this from the wrong angle.

Paul: How so?

Rey: So far, we've been focusing on the idea that someone was after abby that night.

Paul: You have an alternate scenario?

Rey: Maybe lola was mistaken about being attacked.

Rey: She suffered a head injury. She could have been confused.

Paul: How'd her phone get smashed?

Rey: She may have hit it when she fell, or maybe a cop or paramedic stepped on it without noticing.

Paul: Right. What about the woman's shoe print and the earring?

Rey: There were tons of footprints on the ground that night. And no one knows how long that earring had actually been there.

Paul: Interesting theory.

Rey: It would explain why we don't have any more leads.

Paul: [ Sighs ] I still think we're missing something.

Abby: What's that?

Lola: It is our latest signature drink. It is called red-hot revenge.

Abby: Subtle.

Lola: Well, it's inspired by my never-subtle, home-wrecking, soon-to-be ex-sister-in-law.

Abby: Lola, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have vented to you about arturo. He's your brother.

Lola: He's also a total mess. Go on, try it.

Summer: So, jack was impressed with the research that I'd done, and he seemed pretty hyped about the influencers that I recommended.

Summer: Kyle?

Summer: You haven't heard a word that I said?

Kyle: Sorry. Um... I have a lot going on in my head. Work and, uh...

Summer: Lola?

Kyle: Why would you say that?

Summer: Uh, because something's been bothering me ever since you came forward about you two being together.

Kyle: I wanted to be honest about everything.

Summer: I feel like there's more to it than that.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] There is.

Summer: Okay. Do you feel like sharing?

Kyle: Do you remember when I went downstairs to talk to my dad?

Summer: Yeah. You seemed off when you came back.

Jack: Before he texted, I was on the verge of telling you everything about lola and me.

Summer: I could tell that you were struggling with something.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] And when he told me what your mom did, I knew I had to tell you everything.

Summer: Wait, what does my mom have to do with this?

Kyle: She knew I'd been with lola.

Summer: How? Was she spying on you?

Kyle: She hired a P.I. He took pictures of lola and me.

Summer: What?

Kyle: Then she threatened my dad. Said she'd use the pictures to harm jabot unless he agreed to sell her fenmore'S.

Summer: Oh, my god. Oh, my god. That is so messed up on so many levels.

Kyle: He convinced her not to go through with that plan.

Summer: [ Gasps ] I cannot believe that my mom would do something like that. Actually, who am I kidding? Of course she would do something like that. She always puts what she wants before everything else. Kyle, why didn't you tell me about this sooner?

Kyle: Look, I knew it would hurt you. But the situation's been handled, so it's all over.

Summer: No, I-it is not over. My mom tried to trash my marriage and then use it to her advantage. She needs to know that I'm not gonna put up with something like that.

Kyle: Maybe you should just let it go.

Summer: No. No, I am not letting it go, kyle. I do not care what she or anyone else thinks. What we have is real, and I'm not gonna let anyone come between us.
