Episode #11588 ~ Paul issues an ultimatum; Phyllis protects Summer.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...Jack: When people talk about jabot, they're thinking total look, total lifestyle.
Kyle: We'll advertise all over social media.
Summer: Fashion and media? Now you got my attention.
Jack: Hey, summer.
There we go. The baby's heartbeat.
Mia: Does this mean you won't turn me in?
Rey: It'll remain our secret. Forever.
Phyllis: Loyalty means nothing to kyle.
Summer: Okay, and if that was true, mom, kyle would have left the minute that I donated part of my liver. He is still by my side.
Phyllis: Is he?
Phyllis: Thanks for meeting me here.
Lola: Yeah, no problem.
Phyllis: I grabbed us a table.
Lola: Great. I was surprised to get your text. You said that this was about business?
Phyllis: I am planning a big, splashy party. To show everyone in town getting fired from jabot is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Lola: Okay.
Phyllis: I'd like you to cater it.
Lola: Me?
Phyllis: Yes. Your food is unbelievable. I can't think of asking anyone else.
Lola: Although I really do appreciate the compliment, I am afraid I'm going to have to pass.
Phyllis: Is it too small?
Lola: Mm, too busy. I have my hands full preparing for the restaurant.
Phyllis: Ohh, yeah. [ Sighs ] That's -- of course. Yeah. Darn it. I-I -- I wasn't thinking about the restaurant --
Lola: You know, somehow, um... I doubt that you're as disappointed as you're making it sound.
Phyllis: Why do you say that?
Lola: Because that's not the reason you asked to see me. This is about summer and kyle. You want to know if I'm going to be a threat to their marriage.
Mia: My baby.
Rey: [ Grunts ] Ohh... tss, tss, tss. Arturo, uh, hey. It's -- it's rey. Again. Um... I get why you don't want to talk to me. I shouldn't have punched you, and I am sorry. But, uh... we got to be men about this. Talk about what's going on with mia. So... will you call me back, please, as soon as you can?
[ Intercom buzzes ] Yeah, who is it?
Paul: It's paul. We have some unfinished business to discuss.
Jack: Thank you for agreeing to meet me so early.
Traci: What is the subject?
Jack: The next phase of our plans for jabot. I want your input.
Summer: Oh, well, sounds exciting.
Jack: It is exciting. I spoke to billy last night, got his reaction. Now I want to know what you think.
Kyle: Any rules?
Jack: One rule -- be honest. Do not hold back. We have some formidable competition. Not the least of which is my beauty, courtesy of ashley.
Traci: She sent you this?
Jack: It is her way of throwing down the gauntlet.
Summer: Well, this is not so subtle.
Jack: What you see there represents the bulk of what used to be jabot's product line. Now ashley intends to do the same thing with our new products -- products we thought were ours. New brand. New label. New lease on life.
Kyle: All right. [ Sighs ] Let's do this. Tell us your plan.
Jack: It's a whole new way of doing business. I call it "jabot collective." Our growing fashion division alongside our boutiques and our soon-to-be-expanded cosmetics and fragrance lines -- we'll be campaigning them all as a lifestyle.
Summer: That's interesting.
Kyle: How will marketing work?
Jack: We're gonna run with your recommendation -- that we lean heavily on the power of social-media influencers linked to jabot's online presence.
Summer: So, "linked" like -- like literally? Like, you listen to a spiel, and then you click and buy?
Jack: Anything you see in your favorite vlogger's online closet, you can have at the tap of a finger. Everything -- clothing, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, fragrances, hair- and skin-care products. Head to toe, we offer our customers a unique and customized jabot style experience. Here. Got a few mock-ups here. Take a look for yourself. That's what it might look like.
Kyle: Hmm. Art department's been busy.
Jack: Whatever the vlogger's target demographic is, we provide merchandise that covers a broad range of prices and styles with one goal in mind -- making jabot the first name you think of when you want to look and feel your best. What do you think?
Traci: Um, you want us to be perfectly honest, right?
Jack: Yes.
Traci: I have some serious doubts about all of this.

Traci: Your pitch was fantastic. It's just a massive shift for jabot.
Jack: Yeah, so was losing 90% of what we had to sell.
Traci: Yes, of course, jack. But I guess what I'm worried about most is that you're relying so heavily on the fashion division at a time when lauren has made no secret that she would like to go on her own again. And I believe that if she could find a way to get fenmore's independent again, she would do that in a heartbeat.
Jack: She'll never come up with the money, aunt traci.
Traci: Oh, honey.
[ Chuckles ] I learned a long time ago -- never underestimate lauren when she wants something.
Jack: Long-term -- once we rebuild r&d and develop our new cosmetics and fragrance lines, we can re-balance. Shift more of the weight to cosmetics. If that's what our customer base wants.
Traci: [ Sighs ] But on the short-term, it's an entire re-branding of jabot.
Jack: Yeah, that was the whole point.
Traci: Well, my point is, jack, it's a large-scale shift, and I think it's based solely on your desire to one-up ashley. You need to do what is best for the company right now, jack.
Jack: Why can't we have both?
Traci: Oh, you do not want me to answer that question.
Jack: Traci, don't get too excited. This is not shakespeare. Nobody has their daggers out. I'm sure ashley is every bit as invigorated by this as I am. It's healthy competition. Competition breeds innovation.
Summer: Yeah, and not to mention, when you have so few products to sell, you don't really have a choice. You either re-invent yourself on the fly or you -- you fold.
Jack: I've run the numbers, and this should work for us. It's a heck of a lot more prudent than buying up companies to fill a void. Taking on that debt, I've learned that lesson. Traci, I would not take this big a chance with dad's company if I wasn't confident it would pay off.
Kyle: I agree. It's a way to pull jabot out of this crisis and go forward. I imagine billy feels the same way.
Jack: Indeed, he does.
Traci: Well, I suppose that's it, then. Full steam ahead.
Jack: Traci, with time, you will see this is the right move. In the meantime, if you have any ideas --
Traci: Sure. I'll pass them along.
Jack: Kyle, summer, I assume you're on board?
Summer: Yeah. I mean, the lifestyle approach, I think that that's amazing. And I love that you are embracing social media. I just have one thought.
Jack: By all means. We're listening.
Summer: Okay. I think that jabot should be societally conscious whenever possible. Like, corporate investing, no animal testing, uh, green manufacturing.
Kyle: Hybrid vehicles, solar panels on the roof.
Summer: Yeah. You know, the whole thing.
Jack: And if I don't know, you will clue me in, right?
Summer: You walk the walk, and then you let the public know about it.
Kyle: Especially with the younger demos.
Jack: I like the way you two bounce off each other. The give and take. I'm telling you, you work really well together.
Summer: Thanks. I think so, too.
Jack: So, summer, what do you say we make it official?
Summer: Official?
Jack: Join the team. Leave newman. Come to work with kyle and me.
Phyllis: You're an insightful young woman.
Lola: Just calling it as I see it.
Phyllis: I admire that.
Lola: I've always felt that being direct saves a lot of time and energy.
Phyllis: Well, then, I'll get right to the point.
Lola: Please do.
Phyllis: I didn't know about my daughter's surgery until it was a fait accompli. Once I learned why she kept that secret, naturally I was concerned. You know, did kyle only marry her because that's the only way she would go through with the transplant?
Lola: Kyle made his choice. And I am extremely grateful that summer decided to be my donor. Or else I probably wouldn't be speaking to you right now.
Phyllis: And not for one moment -- please do not think that I am insensitive to that.
Lola: All that I'm trying to do now is move on with my life, truly. And I wish summer and kyle the best of luck with their marriage.
Phyllis: Well, that is very kind of you. But, uh...luck isn't enough. A marriage, if it is built on anything but a solid foundation, it will crumble.
Lola: Why are you telling me all of this?
Phyllis: The longer this one-sided marriage is allowed to go on, the worse my daughter's heartache is gonna be in the end. That is why I am planning to take her away for a few days. You know, give her some space from kyle so she can wrap her mind around the truth.
Lola: Which is what, in your opinion?
Phyllis: Kyle isn't in love with summer. Not today. Not tomorrow. Because the only woman he's in love with is you.
Paul: You know, rey, I didn't want to fire you.
Rey: Then why did you?
Paul: Because you didn't give me a choice. You betrayed me. And furthermore, you weren't even sorry about it. You were becoming one of my lead detectives.
Rey: Okay. Handing in my badge was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. But I stand by what I did, paul. Three women were convicted of a murder that never happened, and the dangerous criminal was still out there.
Paul: You didn't know that for a fact.
Rey: My instincts were proven right.
Rey: I had to make things right, even if that meant losing your trust.
Paul: [ Scoffs ] It would take a lot for you to earn that back. But I am willing to give you the chance.
Rey: You mean it? 'Cause I --
Paul: Hold on a second. It's not gonna be full time, not at first. I want you solve this one particular case. You do that and we can talk.
Rey: What's the case?
Paul: This one.
Rey: I'm surprised you want me to take on lola's case since originally I was told I couldn'T.
Paul: Well, who would have better motive to find her attacker than her own brother?
Rey: I'll give it my best shot.
Paul: Excellent. I will forward the relevant information, and you can look at the crime-scene photos on the tablet, there. The suspect is a woman, based on the footprint and the single earring found at the scene.
Rey: Dna?
Paul: We ran it. There were no matches.
Rey: Lola's phone.
Paul: Yeah. It looks like the suspect smashed it intentionally, indicating a volatile state of mind.
Rey: What else do we have?
Paul: Well, lola was pushed from behind, which I'm sure you already know. And she was unable to recall anything that could help us id the woman who did this to her. Nor could she think of anyone who would have a motive to want to harm her. Which brings us back to the coat your sister was wearing.
Rey: It was abby'S. Arturo gave it to her for christmas. She gave it to lola that night.
Paul: Right. So it is possible whoever did this to lola was really going after abby. And being an abbott and a newman, she'd be a more likely target. So I want you to hone in on the people that -- that might have a reason to want to do this to her.
Rey: Yeah. About that. There's something you should know.
Phyllis: For someone who appreciates directness, you're awfully quiet.
Lola: I just didn't expect you to --
Phyllis: State the fact that kyle's in love with you? Is it really that much of a surprise?
Lola: Okay, first of all, we don't know that that's a fact.
Phyllis: You can deny it all you want, but I know it's true. And I think, deep down, so do you.
Lola: Phyllis, don't be so sure, okay? Whatever feelings kyle may or may not have for me... he's never gotten over summer, not completely, which is why he's with her right now. And kyle admitted to me that the relationship isn't platonic, so everything happened the way that it needed to.
Phyllis: Yeah, well, I'm not saying that kyle doesn't care for my daughter, or they don't have a connection. And I understand him wanting to honor his commitment because of my daughter's sacrifice. But I also know men. And I saw the way he looked at you when you crossed paths here the other day. He had a lovesick expression on his face. And I wish he could look at my daughter the same way. But I doubt he ever will. So that is why I'm so worried.
Lola: I don't know what you expect me to say, okay? Because none of this was my doing.
Phyllis: I never said that. And for the record, I am not accusing you of anything.
Lola: Good.
Phyllis: I want what's best for my daughter. And how that is gonna happen is if everyone involved in this... unfortunate triangle gets a grip on reality. The sooner, the better. I have said all I want to say. Really, I'm glad that you're recovering so well. It's amazing, you know. Getting another chance at life.
Summer: [ Sighs ] So. This was the last thing I was expecting when I woke up this morning.
Traci: Yes, we abbotts are full of surprises.
Summer: So, you want me to come to jabot. You're serious?
Jack: The beauty business has changed dramatically in the last five years. I need young people like you and kyle to usher jabot into the new era. You've already proved you are a valuable asset, and it's only sweeter knowing that you're now a part of this family. Kyle, jump in here anywhere you like.
Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Summer would do great. No question. I just don't want her feeling pressured. You're kind of putting her on the spot, here, dad.
Jack: Am I? Is it really that tough a decision?
Summer: [ Sighs ] Um... jack, I'm flattered.
Jack: But?
Summer: [ Sighs ] But I can't give you an answer just this minute. I mean, my grandpa has given me a lot of responsibility at newman --
Jack: I know. Under victoria.
Summer: Who I am fine with. I just would really hate to leave them in the lurch, especially after she went through this whole ordeal. I just think that she needs a little, you know...
Traci: Time. To get her bearings again.
Summer: Yes. Thank you.
Jack: Very considerate of you.
Summer: Look, I mean, would it be a blast to work with my husband all day, every day? Yeah. I mean, I think we make a great team.
[ Doorbell rings ]
Kyle: I'll get it.
Traci: No, no. I got it, honey. Phyllis.
Phyllis: Hi. Is summer here?
Traci: Well, yes, but we're in the middle of a family me--
Phyllis: This won't take long. Thank you.
Traci: Come on in.
Phyllis: Summer! Hi, sweetheart.
Summer: Hi, mom.
Phyllis: How you doing?
Summer: Hi. Pretty good. Oh, oh. I interrupted a family meeting. Strategy session for jabot?
Jack: What brings you by, phyllis?
Summer: Uh, mom is just picking me up. We have a breakfast date. Do you mind?
Kyle: Not at all.
Jack: Think about my offer.
Summer: I will all right. Bye.
Kyle: Bye. All right. Bye, traci.
Traci: Have a good time, sweetie.
Rey: Earlier on the night that Arturo was attacked, me and Lola got into it at the Athletic Club. Loud argument. Lots of witnesses.
Paul: Were you there?
Rey: No, but I heard all about it. And apparently things got ugly.
Paul: What was the fight about?
Rey: [ Sighs ] Mia and my brother, arturo, have a complicated past. Abby accused mia of having feelings for arturo, which set her off.
Paul: Was there any truth to what abby said?
Rey: I'm sorry to say that there was.
Paul: Ah. Well, I'm sure that's a sore subject.
Rey: So, after I heard that lola was wearing abby's coat, I took it upon myself to do some digging. Turns out mia had an alibi.
Paul: What was it?
[ Snickers ] You're really gonna make me go there, huh?
Paul: Yeah.
Rey: Mia and arturo were together that night.
[ Sucks teeth ] It's not something that I find easy to admit, but there you have it.
Paul: Yeah, okay. Well, that's one of those "good news/bad news" scenarios.
Rey: Yeah. I was relieved that she had nothing to do with it, but...
Paul: No, I got it. I got it.
Billy: Part of the reason that mia and I aren't together anymore.
Paul: I had no idea.
Rey: Well, there's no reason you would have. It just happened.
Paul: I am sorry.
Rey: Thank you. It's better this way.
Paul: Well, uh... I appreciate your candor. And I don't suppose there's any point going after a dead end, is there?
Rey: I'm glad you see it that way.
Paul: Unfortunately, with so little to go on --
Rey: [ Scoffs ] Yeah. I got my work cut out for me.
Paul: Yeah.
Rey: But I will do everything I can to solve this case.
Paul: All right. I really hope you can solve it, rey. Not only for your sake, but for lola's, as well.
Rey: There you go.
Paul: All right, thanks.
Rey: Thank you.
Paul: Be in touch.
Rey: Yep.
[ Sighs ]
Mia: Lola? It's been a while. Uh... how are you feeling?
Lola: Fine.
Mia: I'm so glad to hear it. Just so...so glad.
Lola: You, on the other hand, aren't looking so hot. I mean, not that I expected you to be all glammed up, with rey kicking you out and all.
Mia: I'm a wreck. I'm scared. I'm pregnant. All alone.
Lola: Wait, you're pregnant? When did this happen?
Mia: I'm about three months along. But rey and I agreed to keep it a secret a while ago. But now...
Lola: How do you know that the baby's rey's and not arturo's?
Mia: I'm certain it's rey'S. Arturo and I were only together the one time.
Lola: All it takes is one time, mia.
Mia: I know rey's the father. I know what I know. He knows it, too. And still he had me pack my things and go. Says he wants out. That he's done. How can he do that when I'm carrying his child?
Lola: It happens every day. People survive.
Mia: I can't lose him. Not now.
Lola: Sounds like it's not up to you.
Mia: Look, I know you're upset with me, but think of the baby. Family comes first. Isn't that what you always say? A-and if there's one person rey would listen to, it's you. I'm begging you, lola. Please. Please help me save my marriage. If -- if not for my sake, then for the sake of this innocent child.
Phyllis: How long am I gonna have to wait before you spill?
Summer: Really, mom? Six and a half minutes of girl talk, and now it's down to business?
Phyllis: Well, just tell me about jack's offer.
Summer: Okay. Well, he offered me a job at jabot. In marketing. It's pretty high up.
Phyllis: Oh. Are you interested?
Summer: Yes. [ Sighs ] And no. I mean... I mean, after the way they treated you, I'd feel pretty guilty just jumping into a job over there.
Phyllis: Well, don't worry about me. All I care about is what's right for you. This is a big decision.
Summer: Yeah, I know. Tell me about it.
Phyllis: You're gonna be leaving your grandfather's company, working with kyle in a high-pressure environment.
Summer: Which I have done before and loveD. For me, that'd be the best part.
Phyllis: I understand. But speaking from experience, you know, once you're married, it's a whole nother animal.
Summer: Why? How do you mean?
Phyllis: Well, I just think about it, you know? You're gonna be going from healthy space to spending practically 24/7 together. You know, it's good to have your own interest, your own life separate from your significant other.
Summer: No, I see that. Maintain a little mystery, right?
Phyllis: Yeah. Look, I know that jack is wanting answers, but do not let him push you, all right? You need to think long and hard before you walk away from newman. They gave you a great opportunity there, with the chance to grow.
Summer: Yeah, I mean, that's exactly what I told jack.
Phyllis: Good. Then my timing's perfect.
Summer: For what?
Phyllis: You remember when i sent you that text saying that i had an amazing idea?
Summer: Yeah.
Phyllis: Well, I made a reservation at bannon springs resort. The place with the incredible spa.
Summer: Yeah.
Phyllis: Yeah. A little two-day getaway. You know, I thought maybe you need a little bit more downtime to recover from the surgery, you know. Doesn't that sound amazing? Like heaven?
Summer: Yeah. No, I mean, that's really sweet of you, mom. Um... I just kind of wish you had asked first.
Phyllis: Why would you hesitate?
Summer: Well, you know, I mean... kyle and I are newlyweds, and we're in our honeymoon phase. I don't really know if I want to leave him right now.
Phyllis: I get it. I understand. You know, I, uh -- if I were gonna be honest, this trip is just as much about me as it is you, you know?-I mean, I think between the trial and the terrible publicity and, you know, getting fired, plus your father dumping me...
[ Chuckles ] It's been one catastrophe after another and, frankly, I feel like I'm just kind of beat up.
[ Sighing ] I -- I need a chance to think about what's next for me, you know? I think I do need to get away.
Summer: Okay. I'm in. Let's go.
Phyllis: Thank you. Thank you very much.
Summer: You're welcome. When do we leave?
Phyllis: As soon as you can pack a bag. That'll be good.
Summer: Wow. Okay. I guess you really want to get out of here, then, don't you?
Phyllis: The sooner we get out of town, the sooner we can get back with a brand-new perspective on the future.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Mia: You must want your little niece or nephew to grow up in a happy environment. Rey and I could have a happy life together with our child if he would give me one more chance.
Lola: You cheated on him a second time.
Mia: That was a terrible mistake. And I'll take part of the blame. But [Scoffs] There's so much more to this.
Lola: [ Sighs ]
Mia: Yes, I cheated on him, and, yes, rey didn't sleep with someone else, but he hurt me, too. He let another woman into our marriage.
Lola: If you mean sharon --
Mia: She pretends to be so demure, but she's shameless. She went after him. You should have seen her yesterday. She was so nasty, telling me to back off. It stressed me out so bad, I doubled over in pain. I ended up in the hospital because of that witch.
Lola: But is the baby okay?
Mia: Luckily, yes.
[ Sighs ] But it's been devastating watching the man I love get sucked in by someone so wrong for him. Not that I have to explain how that feels for you. I know you hate seeing summer with kyle. You can admit it. Trust me, I'll understand. I still can't believe how those two got married out of the blue. I mean, kyle was so devoted to you. What did she do to con him into leaving you?
Lola: Mia, there were a lot of circumstances at work.
Mia: Fine. I won't pry. But know this -- whether you help me or not, I'm gonna do everything I can to win rey back. Because I refuse to roll over and let sharon win. And you shouldn't let summer win, either. After everything you've endured, you deserve to be happy. So fight for what you deserve.
Kyle: Didn't expect you back so soon.
Summer: Hi. Yeah, I did not expect to be back so soon, either, but mom dropped a bit of a surprise on me. Hi.
Kyle: Oh. Hi.
Phyllis: Spa trip.
Summer: Yeah. Only for a couple of days, though. And I hate to leave you, but I do think it'll be good for me to relax while I'm still recovering.
Kyle: Absolutely. Sounds like the perfect thing for you.
Jack: What would be the perfect thing?
Summer: Uh, mom planned a little girls' getaway for us. And actually it will give me some time to think about your offer. And I promise to have an answer by the time that we get back.
Jack: I'll hold you to that.
Summer: All right. I better go pack.
Phyllis: You're a man of your word. You said you'd offer my daughter a job, and you didn't wait one second. You didn't hesitate.
Jack: I thought you said you were okay with that.
Phyllis: As usual, you heard what you wanted to hear.
Jack: I'm sorry you're so disappointed at your daughter's exciting new opportunity.
Phyllis: No, you're not.
Jack: Let's just table this. This whole thing could be moot. You know, summer may turn me down.
Phyllis: You told me everything you did was business, not personal. But this sure as hell feels personal, especially since it involves my kid.
Mia: I know you weren't expecting me, but I had to see you.
Rey: What do you need?
Mia: I thought you were gonna call me and check in with me.
Rey: I texted you last night and this morning to make sure that you and the baby were okay.
Mia: Nice thought, but that's not a conversation.
Rey: So talk.
Mia: There are some things we've been avoiding discussing, and they can't be put off anymore. Not after what happened yesterday.
Rey: Look, if you're here to talk about sharon --
Mia: I have far more important things to talk about than her at the moment. Like the welfare of our child. We're in this together, and I need your support.
Rey: You have it.
Mia: Not just emotionally. Financially. I'm low on cash, and -- and being pregnant is expensive. There's prenatal vitamins, maternity clothes, doctors visits. We need to figure out what we're gonna do now that you're unemployed. And I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive.
Rey: [ Sighs ] It's interesting you should mention my unemployment. Paul was just here.
Mia: What did he say?
Rey: He's considering giving me back my job.
Mia: Baby, that's wonderful. You must feel so relieved.
Rey: Yeah, it's not a done deal. There's a condition.
Mia: What do you have to do?
Rey: Solve a case. Guess which one.
Lola: [ Sighs ]
Jack: You know how I have always felt about summer. I respect her talent.
Phyllis: And sticking it to me would be a fringe benefit.
Jack: Not everything is about you, phyllis.
Jack: Look, I would never have made this overture if i didn't think it was something she would embrace. I see her and kyle working together happily for many years to come.
Kyle: All set?
Summer: Yeah. Hey, um, can I have a moment alone to say bye to kyle?
Jack: Absolutely. Enjoy yourself.
Phyllis: Yeah, we will. I am sorry to be taking your bride away from you. But you shouldn't worry. You won't be lonely for long.
Summer: Mm. I'm gonna miss you.
Kyle: Well, like your mom said, you'll be back before I know it.
Summer: I know, but I'll be thinking about you the entire time.
Kyle: I'll be thinking about you, too.
[ Front door slams ] Be careful. Don't overdo it. Remember, you are still healing.
Summer: It is a spa. There's literally nothing to do but lie around and take it easy.
Kyle: I know. I'm just saying.
Summer: That's very sweet of you, to be concerned. All right, be good while I'm gone, okay?
Phyllis: The clock starts now. In the next 48 hours, I want to know every move kyle and lola make.
Jack: Want to talk about it?
Kyle: [ Sighs ] What?
Jack: Whatever's on your mind. Is it summer? I thought you'd be okay with my offering her that job. Should I have talked to you first?
Kyle: That's not it.
[ Sighs ]
Jack: Well, something's eating at you.
Kyle: [ Sighs ] There's just so much on my mind. I need to clear my head. A good run should help.
Mia: I thought you couldn't work on lola's case because you're related.
Rey: I thought so, too. But paul wants to put it to bed.
Mia: Why now? The investigation went cold months ago. I mean... are there any new leads?
Rey: No. But paul is zeroing in on the fact that lola was wearing abby's coat that night. If abby has enemies on the abbott or newman side who might have come after her.
Mia: Does paul know?
Rey: About the fight you and abby had that night? He does now.
Mia: Rey!
Rey: Calm down.
Mia: Oh!
Rey: All right? I brought it up on purpose to cover for you. I told him I did some digging which exonerated you.
Mia: Thank you.
Rey: Any idea where arturo is?
Mia: No clue.
Rey: Well, you better find one fast. I told paul you were with him on the night lola was attacked.
Mia: What?
Rey: Yeah -- in that way. And we'll need to corroborate that. He's your alibi.
Mia: [ Sighs ] Arturo and I are -- are barely speaking. I mean, I wish there had been another way...
Rey: You were a suspect, mia! I had to stop paul from pursuing that. Y-you know, your hostility towards abby isn't exactly a secret, and -- and it's not a stretch to think that you and my brother would have "sneaked off" for some private time.
Mia: I'm grateful that you are looking out for me and the baby. It's just... this is all so overwhelming.
Rey: Yeah, you're telling me. Look, I'll do whatever I can to protect you and the baby. For now.
Mia: [ Stammers ] For now? What -- what does that mean?
Rey: I'm still wondering if the baby's arturo'S. And if it is...
Paul: Hey, bob. It's chief williams. I want you to track down arturo rosales. I've got a few questions for him.
Kyle: [ Sighs ]
