Episode #11586 ~ Billy surprises Victoria; Michael delivers unpleasant news.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Lauren: I asked jack to sell me back his shares of fenmore'S. He said he wasn't interested, but then asked me if I had the money.
Phyllis: I negotiated a very nice golden parachute. Includes six months' severance and a sizeable cash bonus.
Jack: All of which you would be entitled to if you were fired without cause.
Victoria: I can't remember the last time I had so much fun.
Brandon: Should I call you "room" or "505"?
Victoria: No. How about jeni? That would be just fine.
Lily: I'm being released sooner than we thought. That's why I sent the divorce papers. It's time for a fresh start.
Cane: You ruined my life, and you destroyed my marriage.
Cane: Thank you for bringing me home and not letting me make a bigger ass of myself at the club, okay, but you don't have to stay. I'm fine. I really am.
Traci: Mm-hmm. Well, I think you're approaching sober, but I wouldn't exactly say you're fine.
[ Chuckles ]
Cane: Heh. Okay, well, in that case, it's the kids. They're -- they're coming home soon, all right, and...
Traci: And you don't know exactly how to explain why I'm hovering?
Cane: Yeah. Yeah. You see, it's kind of hard to lecture them if I have to confess that I was drunk and, uh, almost disorderly.
Traci: Cane, they don't have to know.
[ Chuckles ] But I would like to know why you almost took billy's face off a little earlier. You know, I've had those same feelings myself a time or two, but I've always managed to keep it under control.
[ Chuckles ]
Cane: [ Sighs ] Lily's divorcing me.
Traci: I don't understand what billy has to do with it.
Cane: Well, a couple of months ago, he went to, uh, the prison, and he told her some things that really -- it wasn't his business telling her.
Traci: Why would he do that?
Cane: Because he wants to make me look bad.
Traci: Well, I know the two of you have had your differences --
Cane: Right. He resents me.
Traci: Um... what could billy say to lily that would be a direct line to divorce?
Cane: [ Sighs ] He told her about victoria and me.
Victoria: Hello?
Billy: There you are. I left you a few messages.
Victoria: Yeah. [ Sighs ] I've been on a phone cleanse.
[ Exhales softly ] How are the kids doing?
Billy: They're fine. Fair warning, they're starting to ask what mommy's bringing home from her work trip.
Victoria: Oh. Right. Well, I-I'm definitely not gonna come home empty-handed this time.
Billy: Just let me know if you want me to grab something for them.
Victoria: No, no. Billy, thank you. You've done so much. And thank you also because i really needed this break.
Billy: Yeah, of course. Uh, so, uh, how's it -- how's it going?
Victoria: Uh... [ Sighs ] You know... I-I know that I told my mom that this was a business trip, but the truth of the matter is, I just needed to spend a little time by myself, you know? Just sit around and do nothing.
Billy: Really? Because it looked like you were definitely doing something.
Victoria: What?
Billy: Unless that wasn't you
[Sighs] I saw in the picture, partying with the band in your las vegas hotel suite.
Victoria: Oh, so, now you're -- you're keeping tabs on me now? Nice.
Billy: Summer saw a picture of you on her social media partying with the lead singer of the bloody thorns, whoever that is.
Victoria: There was a mix-up with the hotel room, and brandon insisted on buying me a drink. That's it.
Billy: That's it?
Victoria: Yeah.
Billy: A drink. In vegas.
Victoria: Are you just repeating me now?
Billy: Not some sleepy country inn or yoga retreat?
Victoria: Oh, I'm sorry. Is that what I was supposed to do? Thank you so much for telling me.
Billy: Vegas isn't a place where people go to relax, vick. It's a vortex that sucks your soul.
Victoria: Maybe for you.
Billy: Vick --
Victoria: Look, there's a spa here, and amazing restaurants, and -- and no clocks, which I love, and -- am I seriously having to explain myself to you? Honestly?
Billy: No. No, you don'T. Look, I'm sorry, okay? It's just [Sighs] I'm worried. That's all.
Victoria: Billy, I can look out for myself.
Billy: Do you have any idea when you're gonna make it home?
Victoria: Um, I'm not sure. Just... can we just --
Billy: I don't want to push it. It would just be nice to tell the kids --
[ Knock on door ]
Brandon: Room service.
Victoria: Uh, I-I have to go.
Brandon: Candy-gram!
Billy: What's wrong?
[ Knock on door ]
Brandon: I'm gonna keep knockin' on 505
Billy: Vick? Who's that?
Victoria: You know what? Give the kids my love, okay? I'll talk to you later. Bye. Bye.
Brandon: You stopped ignoring me. Good. I have a surprise for you.
Victoria: I have a surprise for you.
Brandon: Wait! No, no, no. It'll be worth it. All you have to do is invite me in.
Phyllis: Thank you for meeting me.
Michael: Of course.
Phyllis: [ Sighs ] In theory "of course." But in reality I figured there may be a 50/50 chance.
Michael: Really? 50/50? That's it after all these years?
Phyllis: I'm a pariah right now, okay, so let's not pretend otherwise. The deal that I made with christine ruined everyone's lives, including yours.
Michael: Well, I can't speak to everyone else's life. You made my job more difficult, sure. But considering I'm the best, I can rise to the challenge if it's required.
Phyllis: You're being nice.
Michael: I'm always nice.
Phyllis: No, you're not.
Michael: Whatever. Sometimes.
Phyllis: You're just being very pleasant right now, so it feels like it's a trick.
Michael: You went through some serious stuff. You and the others. But [Clears throat] The choices you personally made...
[ Scoffs ] Uniformly bad.
Phyllis: I'm well aware.
Michael: A-across the board awful.
Phyllis: Yeah, I get it.
Michael: But I know you. You don't trust anybody, never mind the police.
Phyllis: Well, I don't know. I mean, trusting people usually doesn't get me very far.
Michael: Understood. I mean, and to your credit, you tried to help nikki.
Phyllis: Who hates me.
Michael: You did what you thought you had to do.
Phyllis: So far, you're one of the very few people who see it that way.
Michael: Ah, see? Because I'm your friend. See how I led that all the way back around to your initial concern? 50/50 indeed.
Phyllis: Thank you. Means a lot. It does. It really means a lot. 'Cause my circle of support is shrinking rapidly at the moment.
Michael: Yeah. I heard about kerry -- or, what, dominique?
Phyllis: Oh, no, no, no, no. That name makes me really want to crush things.
Michael: Yeah, well, betrayal stings.
Phyllis: Yeah. Especially from your ex. Actually, two exes, to be exact.
Michael: Ah. Jack's been reinstated as C.E.O.
Phyllis: Yep. With billy's help. So it has been a great couple of weeks. But there is still a possibility I am gonna be working closely with lauren.
Michael: Yeah? Well, see? Another person in your corner.
Phyllis: Yes, and I want to be in hers -- you know, help her buy back fenmore'S. But jack is resistant.
Michael: Yeah, well...
[ Sighs ] Legally, he's well within his rights.
Phyllis: But what about ethically? He was nonstop drama about an outsider running his family's company. This is lauren's family's company. So how about a little self-awareness?
Rebekah: Phyllis is at one o'clock. Should we go somewhere else?
Nick: Is this awkward for you?
Rebekah: Oh, I was thinking of her.
Nick: I'm not.
Additional sponsorship
provided by...
Phyllis: Yeah, you know, I mean, lauren brought fenmore's back from the brink. Jack would like to claim that jabot did that for her, but...
Michael: But?
Phyllis: But this is so ridiculous! Yeah, nick. We all know what a catch you are. He's probably gonna want to start doing those, you know, auctions for bachelors just to show how desirable he is.
Michael: I think he's just having a drink.
Phyllis: I wonder if he's gonna take his shirt off, right? He wants everybody to see his abs.
Michael: He's having a drink.
Phyllis: He's not having a drink. That is not innocent. That is my ex sky-writing across the sky "I've moved on, loser."
Michael: You're not a loser.
Phyllis: Well, thank you.
Michael: No. And I don't think he knew you were here.
Phyllis: No, he just lucked out.
[ Nick laughing ] Was he always so smug? Why are they always so smug?
Michael: Who exactly is "they"?
Phyllis: Or does that just happen when people part ways? You know? I should go over there.
Michael: No, you definitely should not.
Phyllis: I didn't finish.
Michael: Uh, heh, it doesn't matter.
Phyllis: Okay, look, I should just go over there --
Michael: No. Not gonna happen. I will throw myself in your path if I have to.
Phyllis: That's extreme.
Michael: Yeah, well, that's the whole "friend" thing we were talking about. Saving yourself from yourself.
Phyllis: Fine.
Michael: And impulse control can be your friend, too, if you let it.
Phyllis: I get it.
Michael: Mm. Thank you. You are my hero. I should go.
Michael: Head high. Eyes forward. Take the long way around.
Phyllis: Yes, sir. Okay.
[ Nick speaking softly ] Hi. Good to see you again. Beautiful outfit.
Rebekah: Thank you.
Phyllis: Okay. Have a good night.
Rebekah: You too. Well, then. That was very civilized.
Nick: Yeah, that's not a good sign where phyllis is concerned.
Traci: Did you have an affair with victoria?
Cane: No, no, no, no. It w-wasn't an affair. It wasn'T. It was -- it was just -- it was a kiss. Well, two kisses, if you want to be technical about it.
Traci: Okay. I don't think we want the details.
Cane: No, I just want you to know it was two separate occasions.
Traci: Oh, cane.
Cane: I know. It doesn't sound good.
Traci: What it sounds like is that you didn't learn from the first mistake.
Cane: No, I know. It's not an excuse. It's not an excuse.
Traci: And billy knew this?
Cane: Yeah, 'cause he walked in on us.
Traci: [ Inhales sharply ] Oh. So... he was expecting that he and victoria were eventually going to get back together...
Cane: Yeah.
Traci: ...And then he saw her with you. Okay, now this is starting to make some sense.
Cane: So, then, billy decides to drag lily into the drama. Well, I went to the prison to see her and try and tell her the truth, but she wouldn't see me because he already went there and told her.
Traci: Oh! I could just shake him. This is so selfish and so stupid.
[ Sighs ] Lily did not deserve that from him. Not at all.
Cane: Billy doesn't think in those terms, does he? You know, he even took the jet so he would get there before me.
Traci: This happened before the trial?
Cane: Yeah, yeah. Months before.
Traci: And you and victoria never pursued anything more romantically?
Cane: Romantic? [ Laughs ] Um... it -- it -- it wasn't romantic. I mean, it's, uh... I don't know what it was.
Traci: And lily knows that nothing more happened?
Cane: Absolutely.
Traci: You two have been through so much. For this to be the factor...
Cane: I know. That's what I'm saying. Lily is prepared to break up our family over something that doesn't even matter.
Traci: N-no. Family is so important to lily. I can't help thinking there has to be something more to it.
Brandon: Just finished my set.
Victoria: Oh, yeah? How'd it go?
Brandon: No idea. All I could think about was you. And those eyes. What's that song, uh... "I can't get you out of my head"?
Victoria: Oh, it's an oldie.
Brandon: The great ones never get old. Oh, but back to the surprise.
Victoria: Oh, right. Right. Yes.
Brandon: One ticket to my next gig -- in reno.
Victoria: Really?
Brandon: Mm-hmm.
Victoria: For me?
Brandon: V.I.P.
Victoria: So, backstage and all the dressing rooms?
Brandon: All-access.
Victoria: How many of these do you give out on a night? Just ballpark? You can round down if you want to.
Brandon: Oh, who said debutantes can't do sarcasm?
Victoria: Oh, so now I'm a debutante?
Brandon: I see.
Victoria: Heh.
Brandon: I amuse you. Nice.
Victoria: Well, that's not a bad thing. I'm sure that you and your V.I.P. Passes do very well.
Brandon: But you don't need any favors or gifts from the likes of me, huh?
Victoria: It's not just you.
Brandon: Because you're victoria newman. I got to ask -- the trial. Is that the only reason you're walking around vegas using a fake name? If so, it's okay. I understand.
Victoria: You know what? Why don't we make a deal right now in this room. I'm jeni. Um, you can either accept that or you can go.
Jack: Phyllis, if this is about your severance, we've already had that discussion.
Phyllis: I get it, jack. You made yourself perfectly clear.
Billy: But when has that ever stopped you, right?
Phyllis: I came to see summer.
Jack: She's asleep right now.
Phyllis: And what was that supposed to mean?
Billy: Was there something confusing about my statement?
Phyllis: Billy, you won, okay? Jabot is once again the sacred hall of abbottness. So why don't you tone down the snark?
Billy: Trust me, that was toned down.
Jack: [ Stammers ] Billy. Were you able to get in touch with victoria?
Billy: Yes. She needed some time, okay? She said it was for work, but it turns out she -- she needs a breather.
Phyllis: Good for her.
Billy: Oh, I'm sure your approval is much appreciated.
Phyllis: Wow. Fine form today. Maybe victoria's just taking a -- a break from all of this charm.
Billy: Yeah? A break away from home? You think that's what she needs, phyllis? She should be here with her family, where people care about her and love her and want to make sure she's okay.
Phyllis: I also think she's a grown-up who's earned her right to call her own shots. Maybe you should be a grown-up and respect that.
Brandon: Ground rules. Locked in. Hey, it is vegas. And if going under the radar worked for victor senior...
Victoria: Wait. What do you mean?
Brandon: I saw him at a private poker game a few weeks ago. High stakes. "Molly's game" level. Invite-only.
Victoria: Are you sure it was victor newman?
Brandon: Yep. The guy you're pretending isn't your dad? He really lives up to the hype.
Victoria: He was just playing poker?
Brandon: Yeah. Buy-in was crazy high. It was a floating game.
Victoria: My dad's not really a gambler. No matter how big the buy-in is, the stakes could never hold his interest.
Brandon: Actually, wait. Yeah, he wasn't playing. When I saw ol' vic, he was just talking to some other guy.
Victoria: Well, who was it? Did you -- did you recognize him? I mean, did they seem like they were...? You know what? Heh... never mind. It'S... [ Sighs ] It's not my problem.
Brandon: Did I cross some kind of line or something?
Victoria: No. No, no, no. It's no big deal.
Brandon: Okay. Whatever you say, jeni.
Victoria: I forgot your name.
Brandon: [ Sighs ] Thelonious.
Victoria: Right.
Brandon: My old man was a jazz freak, and, uh, you know, now I'm just running this tech start-up. Cutting-edge stuff, really. Yeah, we hope to be in everybody's back pocket in a month or so.
Victoria: Wow.
Brandon: Mm-hmm.
Victoria: Tell me more.
Traci: I've known lily her whole life. Way before the two of you crossed paths.
Cane: She loves you. So I was hoping that maybe you could -- maybe you could talk to her for me.
Traci: The two of you have overcome so much.
Cane: Yeah.
Traci: Way more than just a stray kiss.
Cane: Yeah, just a kiss that meant nothing.
Traci: It had to have meant something, cane. I don't mean something romantic with victoria, but... you had to have done this for a reason.
Cane: No. No, I -- look, technically, she's the one who kissed me.
Traci: Cane, um... okay. If it happened twice... you had every chance to fix it after the first kiss. You know, go through whatever it was that was in your head and make sure that that never happened again. But you didn't do that. You set yourself onto this path. You know that.
Cane: Yeah. Yeah.
Traci: You're an adult, so everything you do and everything you say, it means something. And the same goes for lily. And she has decided that divorce is the only answer. And so...
[ Scoffs ] I have to think that there's something more to this. That it's so much deeper than just one mistake.
Cane: You know, it's been going on for months. You know, she feels like, uh, we're moving in different directions, and that -- that I don't understand the connection that she has with the female prisoners. I mean, there's that and there's other things.
Traci: Okay.
Cane: It's like she thinks that we don't have anything in common anymore, and it's because she's in there and I'm out here. And when she's released, we won't be on opposite sides of the wall anymore, you know?
Traci: Yes. But, cane, she will never be exactly the same as she was.
Cane: But I'll always love her no matter what.
Traci: Are you absolutely sure?
Cane: Of course I'm sure.
Traci: Honey, I believe in love. I do. I really do. I believe that there are couples who can work together and...
Cane: Right.
Traci: ...Overcome almost anything.
Cane: Exactly. Right.
Traci: But is that you and lily?
Cane: Well, of -- of course it is. I mean, we've proven this before. I mean, how is this any different?
Traci: I see what you're saying, but I have to ask you -- has anything changed for you two?
Cane: I don't know what you mean.
Traci: With lily in prison. Has something changed that you just can't admit?
Cane: I mean, of course things have changed. You know, I'm a single dad and I'm trying to keep my family together and I'm trying to run this company and my wife is away and... you know, I-I go to prison 'cause I want to see her face. I want to let her know we're on the same team. That I want to make our family whole again. When she gets out, she plans on starting over and moving away.
Traci: Oh, I -- I know that must be so scary.
Cane: [ Sighs ]
[ Scoffs ] No, it isn't scary. It is terrifying, because my kids are going off to college and my wife is moving away and there's sam. I mean, I don't even know where sam fits in with her anymore. You know, before she went to prison, she never would have thought of leaving us. But now she'S... it's almost like she just can't wait to move away.
Traci: [ Sighs ] Cane... it must be just terrible to have your whole life taken away from you -- everything that you find normal and comforting. And then to find out that you didn't need some of that after all.
Cane: But she needs us. She does. She needs us.
Traci: She's not the same young girl you married.
Cane: Okay --
Traci: She's a woman, and she's a mother, and she's had this life and these experiences, cane, and I think she knows what she needs.
Cane: But leaving us is not the answer to this problem.
Traci: Maybe it's something that she decided in prison... or maybe this has been growing inside her for a while.
Cane: No, no. She was happy with us.
Traci: Cane --
Cane: Listen, if she wasn't happy, she just would have told me.
Traci: Maybe this shift in how lily's feeling is because she can't find the words to explain it to you.
Cane: But why didn't she discuss this with me?
Traci: Why did you kiss victoria twice?
Cane: It's not the same thing. No.
Traci: No, it's not exactly the same thing. But something is happening inside of you, and you couldn't find the words to explain it, so you found an action instead. Maybe... maybe this is lily's action.
Cane: Then it's a mistake.
Traci: You're gonna have to ask yourself, what are you fighting for, really?
Rebekah: I certainly didn't think this would happen again -- you, me, and drinks.
Nick: Drinks. Is that the only thing on the table?
Rebekah: Well, after last time, we know what happens when one assumes.
Nick: I'm talking about this time.
Rebekah: How long are we gonna sit here?
Nick: Let's go.
Phyllis: Your brother needs a blanket and a pacifier. You know why? Because he's a tantrum-throwing brat! Boo-hoo! Victoria decided on some self-care that didn't involve him.
Jack: I think he's concerned about her emotional well-being.
Phyllis: Oh, come on. He's a territorial yutz. He assumed that victoria was gonna fly on into his arms. And guess what? That didn't happen. Because I told her -- wait for it -- the truth. That billy came back to me first. And when that didn't work out, he tried the same thing on her.
Jack: The truth is a good thing, phyllis, when it's not used as a rocket launcher.
Phyllis: And, you know, to top it off, right now -- right now, nick is all over rebekah barlow.
Jack: Jabot's latest consultant.
Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. Of course she is. She's at jabot and she's in nick's lap. And I am the one that introduced them. That is just... that is amazing. That is great.
[ Stomps foot ] Great day!
Jack: Is it?
Phyllis: [ Stomps foot ] Mm-hmm. My life is sewage.
Jack: Some would call it karma.
Phyllis: When I testified about that night, I didn't want to hurt anyone. It was over. The lies were done. It was time. Nikki was taking the fall for victor, making it look like it was premeditated, which it was not. And, no, I did not want to go to jail, but I was trying to keep all of them out at the same time.
Jack: Sadly, it didn't work out that way.
Phyllis: No. But do you notice every single time the blame gets doled out, I'm getting an extra helping? I tell the truth, I get blamed. I lie, I get blamed. I trust people to do their jobs, and I get blamed. And, yes, I was in charge with that whole kerry-patent mess, but you got sucked in, too. You were sleeping with the enemy.
Jack: Yes, ashley snowed all of us.
Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And I get fired. You get promoted! I --
[ Inhales deeply ] People ask why i didn't know it was you.
Jack: What are you talking about?
Phyllis: The man that victor put in my life. Put in my bed. It wasn't enough that it happened, but... there was an implication that it -- that it was my fault.
Jack: None of that was your fault.
Phyllis: And then I couldn't see kerry for who she was.
Jack: It's not the same. At all.
Phyllis: But it happened. Because life isn't fair. No one understands how that kind of betrayal just stays with you. No one gets it. No one but you.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Rebekah: Did your interior designer make that? A sign for your home bar?
Nick: That there is the real thing. It's a club I used to own.
Rebekah: Seriously?
Nick: Oh, yeah. I spent many a nights cutting limes.
Rebekah: [ Gasps ] Oh. And listening to women pour their hearts out.
Nick: On occasion. Then the roof caved in. The whole place burned down. I ditched the club, but I kept that sign.
Rebekah: Know when to cut your losses.
Nick: Little slow on the uptake at times, but... that club was a labor of love for me.
Rebekah: And you gave it your all?
Nick: I really did.
Rebekah: You miss it?
Nick: I have transferred my passion into my new project, which is dark horse.
Rebekah: Mm. So, now you only pour drinks for personal reasons.
Nick: And for the right people.
Rebekah: You know, there was wine involved that last time we were together.
Nick: Yeah. I seem to remember you wearing a little bit of that wine.
I think you got a little bit on yourself this time.
Nick: I did?
Rebekah: You did.
Nick: Well, we can't have that, can we?
Rebekah: No. We really can'T.
Jack: It cost jabot millions when we lost those new patents to ashley. That was on your watch.
Phyllis: And, what, you babysat? Every formula that jabot created? Every patent that you ever received?
Jack: I wasn't C.E.O. When we lost all those new products.
Phyllis: No, you weren'T. But you were when you lost all the old patents. Blood abbott clause. Does that ring a bell? I mean, do we even need to talk about how you tried to nail that ridiculous thing on our marriage...
Jack: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Phyllis: ....Instead of the fact that you were trying to stick it to your sister?
Jack: We could go on and on about this forever, you know.
Phyllis: You know what? I really think you were the bigger screw-up in that story, but, hey, you're an abbott, so...
Jack: I'm very grateful for your concern for jabot. I assure you, I'm only going to hire the best and the brightest. As a matter of fact, your daughter had some great ideas.
Phyllis: Summer works for newman.
Jack: At the moment, yes. But she's an abbott now, and she kyle are a great team.
Phyllis: Ahh, okay. So that's your plan? You're gonna use my daughter to stick it to me, to victor?
Jack: Summer has always had a place very close to my heart. You know that. And I'm sure we can come up with an offer that will, uh, suit her skills.
Phyllis: That's good. That's not a bad move.
Jack: Thanks. I thought so, too.
Phyllis: What I'm asking for is a chance to start over, too.
Jack: Phyllis, we've discussed the severance.
Phyllis: I'm talking about fenmore'S. Let it go. Lauren is willing to let me run it with her. Come on. Jack, let me at least have this.
Cane: [ Sighs ]
Mattie: Hey, dad. What was traci doing here?
Cane: Hey.
Mattie: Are you okay?
Cane: Yeah. Um... I have some great news for you guys. Um... your mom's getting out early.
Charlie: You mean it?
Mattie: That's amazing!
Cane: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's great.
Mattie: But you're not excited?
Cane: Listen, guys, all I want is for your mom to be happy, okay? Listen... you guys know that we love you more than anything else in the whole world, right?
Mattie: That's what you always say before bad news.
Charlie: But this is the best news.
Mattie: The divorce is still happening, isn't it?
Cane: I went and saw your mom, and...she, uh... she wants to have a fresh start. And, uh, she's gonna move out of town
[Voice breaking] Because it's, uh... ooh. [ Exhales heavily ] It's what she needs.
Jack: You're a fighter, red. I know you've taken a few hits lately.
Phyllis: More than a few.
Jack: You'll rally.
Phyllis: But without your help. Is that what you're saying?
Jack: Jabot needs all of its resources right now. It's not personal.
Phyllis: 'Course not. You and billy hated each other because of me. Now you're pals because of me. But, you know, it's not personal. You just share a common enemy. You're gonna blame me for every bad thing that's happened to jabot.
Jack: Ashley is the one who brought jabot to its knees. Everyone remembers that.
Phyllis: Yeah, well, she's family, you know, so -- I'm not.
Jack: Don't make this all about wins and losses.
Phyllis: Well, that's real nice when you're the one who's won.
Jack: You'll be fine. In fact, I can't wait to see what you do next.
Phyllis: You'll be the first to know.
Brandon: I'm telling you, vc is the key.
Victoria: Vc?
Brandon: Venture capital.
Victoria: Oh.
Brandon: Mm. I know. Business talk. I don't expect you, an artist, to get it. You'd rather be talking about frescoes and frieze.
Victoria: Oooh. Now you are speaking my language.
Brandon: Yeah, I'm big into art.
Victoria: Oh.
Brandon: Buy it by the yard. Put it by the foosball table and the sleep cubbies on campus.
Victoria: Uh-huh.
Brandon: That's a tech campus, not school.
Victoria: Right.
Brandon: The world is my university.
Victoria: And you just soak it all in.
Brandon: Hell yeah.
Victoria: Heh. Well, you know what? Me, I just float wherever the wind takes me.
Brandon: Hmm. That's how you got here? Floating?
Victoria: Mm-hmm. There's no better feeling in the world. Experiencing life. Embracing possibilities.
Brandon: And what does that look like, exactly?
Victoria: It looks... it looks like this.
Cane: Okay. Thank you for coming over.
Michael: Well, since the original document was damaged... now, I have incorporated all the changes you've requested.
Cane: I just want to make sure that lily has everything she needs, and she knows that she doesn't have to worry about the kids, okay?
Michael: Yeah, of course. Lily's not asking for much.
Cane: Except a life away from me.
Michael: Mm. You know, cane, sometimes it's -- it's easier to move forward than it is to look back.
Cane: Not for everybody, michael.
Cane: I can't do it. I can't do it. [ Sighs ] I can't do it.
Michael: Cane. Lily's already made her decision.
Cane: That may be, michael, but this is -- it's too soon for me.
Michael: She doesn't agree.
Cane: Listen, if she has given up, then I will fight for both of us. I will win her back, and I will prove to her that I can be the man that she needs me to be. I owe her that.
Nick: You know you're welcome to stay -- no strings.
Rebekah: That's sweet.
Nick: And the sunrise here is pretty damn spectacular. Then we could start the day the way we finished it.
Rebekah: Thank you so much. But I usually sleep better on my own. It was fun, though.
Nick: Yeah. It was.
Rebekah: Thank you.
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Phyllis: Summer works for newman.
Jack: At the moment, yes. But she's an abbott now, and she and kyle are a great team.
Phyllis: So that's your plan? You're gonna use my daughter to stick it to me, to victor?
Jack: I'm sure we can come up with an offer that will, uh, suit her skills.
Phyllis: What I'm asking for is a chance to start over, too. I'm talking about fenmore'S. Let it go. Lauren is willing to let me run it with her. Jack, let me at least have this.
Jack: I know you've taken a few hits lately. You'll rally.
Phyllis: But without your help. Is that what you're saying?
Jack: Jabot needs all of its resources right now. It's not personal.
[ Knock on door ]
Victoria: Did you forget something?
Next week on "the young and the restless"...
Mia: What are you, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and asleep by 9:00?!
[ Groans ]
Lola: I want to find out what we can be together.
Kyle: Are you saying...?
Lola: I'm saying that we should go get a room.
Billy: I read the end of the book, and it's us together. But you know that already, don't you?
Victoria: I don't know that.
Billy: Yeah, you do. I want to give you the life that you don't want to run away from.
