Phyllis: It's rebekah barlow, the cosmetics-company owner that I told you about. You could just flash the killer smile to persuade her to sign on the dotted line. You would be helping me out.

Rebekah: This is the way to seal a deal.

Nick: No. No, no, no. Listen. Uh, I think we got our signals crossed.

Billy: What the hell is victoria doing in vegas, hanging out with a band?

Mia: [ Crying ] You said you would take care of me and the baby.

Rey: I'm not gonna abandon... either one of you. But you and I -- we can't be together anymore.

Mia: Because you're in love with sharon.

Sharon: Mm. You... can't possibly want...

Rey: Mm-hmm.

Sharon: ...Again.

Rey: Yeah.

Sharon: We're at least gonna need some food first.

Rey: Well, I do make a killer omelet.

Sharon: Okay. You start breakfast, and I will be right back, and then we can figure out what we want to do today.

Sharon: We can go for a hike. We could go into town. Or we could just hang out here.

Sharon: I'm really glad you stayed the night.

Rey: Me, too.

[ Sighs ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Sharon: Could you get that? I'm expecting a package.

Rey: Yeah. Yeah.

Cane: Um, when michael told me you wanted to see me, I was relieved. It made me happy.

Lily: Yeah. I just -- I wanted you to have some time with the papers so that you could absorb the news.

Cane: Yeah. Yeah. Well, I want to let you know how much it means to me that you would sit down and talk to me.

Lily: I hope I didn't raise your expectations. I just -- I wanted to wait so that when we sat down, you know, we could be rational and come to an understanding.

Cane: I didn't come here, sweetie, to sign off on our divorce. I came here to let you know that...you know, we can make this work.

Lily: Yeah. [ Sighs ] I already know what you're gonna say. I have run through every argument in my mind, and it all leads to the same place -- divorce. And I-it's what's best for everyone. It's what I need, and I know that it's what you need, too.

Cane: Okay. The problem is this place. It's got you locked up, and you're just sitting here. You're stewing in your thoughts.

Lily: No, cane. If anything, this place has given me the freedom to think...

Cane: No, but...

Kyle: We're going to figure that out right now, mother. What seems to be the problem?

Dina: Well, someone came in and bought all new furniture without my approval.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Dina: And that damn maid -- she won't even tell me what it is or who it is. And -- but -- but she's no help anyhow.

Dina: Okay. Who is that? Ashley?

Summer: Yeah, mom. It's me.

Dina: Oh! Oh, oh, oh. I'm so glad to see you, dear.

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Dina: Oh. O-o-o-o-okay. Uh, oh, oh, oh, oh, tell the maid make it hibiscus, please.

Summer: Okay.

Dina: Thank you.

Billy: Rebekah barlow.

Rebekah: In the flesh.

Billy: It's great to see you again.

Rebekah: I was intrigued by what you had to say on the phone about jabot wanting to go in a new direction.

Billy: Top to bottom. Of course, cosmetics and fragrances will always be our bedrock, but we are about to make a major impact in fashion.

Rebekah: And you reached out to me because...?

Billy: Because you know how to grow a company in this modern world and because we believe that you are the perfect person to guide us through this expansion.

Rebekah: And phyllis is out at C.E.O.?

Billy: That is correct. Jack has been reinstated.

Rebekah: Hmm. I like phyllis' drive. She was a little unconventional with her methods, like the time she set me up with her boyfriend.

Billy: Yeah. Phyllis had lapses in judgment. Look, nobody knows my family company better than me and my brother, and I promise you nobody knows how to run it better than me and my brother.

Rebekah: I believe it, and i like what I'm hearing so far. So tell me more.

Nick: Looks like I'm interrupting.

Sharon: We were just about to have breakfast.

Rey: You don't have to answer that.

Nick: True. [ Chuckles ] And I will leave as soon as i say what I came here to say.

Traci: Jack, um, listen, I'm wondering if there's any way that you can get away and come home. Dina is really struggling this morning.

Kyle: Maybe we can change things back just the way you like it.

Dina: I don't remember.

Summer: You know, hey, mom, you told me something once that --

Dina: I did?

Summer: Yeah, that I'll always remember. You told me that change can be really scary but can also be really good.

Dina: Oh. I said that, huh?

Summer: Yeah.

Dina: Oh.

Summer: Yeah. Look, sometimes you want things to stay the same because it's comforting, right? But then a change comes along, and you have a choice. You can keep looking back, or you can embrace the new, and if you grab on to it with both hands... it'll be a really exciting ride.

Dina: Oh.

Summer: And, you know, you may discover that what you have now is... what you've always wanted.

Dina: Well, that -- that does make a lot of sense.

Summer: Yeah.

Dina: Your sister is very insightful, jackie.

Kyle: Yes, she is.

Cane: What happened with victoria was dumb. And it happened in a moment of weakness, and I hurt you. And I regret it, sweetheart, and it is tearing me up inside.

Lily: I know. I believe you.

Cane: But this isn't something we should end our marriage over, baby. We should just dig in and we should try and save it.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Cane, I've --

[ Groans softly ] I've heard this speech before.

Cane: I know.

Lily: You know? But I can finally see now what's broken between us cannot be fixed.

Cane: But, see, you're only saying this because you're trapped in this place and it's your doubts and your fears talking. Don't let the separation make you forget how good we are together and how much I love you.

Lily: We have had a million chances. But we are trapped in a cycle of hurt. You know, we just keep causing each other pain.

Cane: Okay. Well --

Lily: And it's like, yeah, you know, we'll forgive, we'll make this new start, but then the hurt comes back in a new form.

Cane: Well, then we do whatever we can to break that pattern.

Lily: Can't you see that that's what drives us? That's what feeds our relationship. We find our way back to each other just to open up this new wound, and the scab never heals.

Cane: So, it looks like you've already made your decision.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Cane: [ Sighs ] What are we gonna do about the kids?

Lily: They're mature enough to handle this.

Cane: What are we gonna do about sam?

Lily: [ Sighs ]

[ Chuckles ]

[ Sighs ] I... I love sam... like he's my own, you know? And he will always be a part of my life. But I'm not his biological mother. He's a product of your affair.

Cane: Sweetheart --

Lily: No, cane, I'm -- I'm not -- I'm not saying that with malice. I'm not. I'm just trying to make a point that what's wrong with us is not just about victoria. It's our history. And we have to stop running away from it.

Billy: We are in a very unique position. Not only are we able to use jabot's name and brand identity to give us legitimacy, we're able to function as a start-up.

Rebekah: You want to discover young up-and-coming designers before the big chains do.

Billy: Exactly. We want to see those designers, and we want to scoop them up before anybody else gets their hands on them, and when we do, we will market them in a newer and smarter way, using influencers, word of mouth, and a heavy social-media presence.

Rebekah: It's ambitious. It's also gonna require a lot of tenacity and innovation.

Billy: With your expertise and guidance, yes.

Rebekah: I do like a challenge.

Billy: And is it one you're willing to tackle?

Rebekah: A six-month consulting contract?

Billy: [ Sighs ] I'll have the paperwork drawn up today.

Rebekah: You got yourself a deal.

Billy: You will not regret this, and who knows? We might just have a little bit of fun.

Rebekah: It's the only reason I do anything.

Billy: Oh. A woman after my own heart. Listen, you have a safe trip back to chicago, and, um, we will be in touch.

Rebekah: Actually, my last trip to genoa city was so brief, I thought I'd take a few days and explore the down.

Billy: I love that. Just don't get into too much trouble.

Rebekah: Oh. Now, where's the fun in that?

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: You're offering me a job at dark horse? Doing what, exactly?

Rey: You want to have this conversation in private? I should go.

Sharon: No, please don'T. Um, can we talk about this later?

Nick: Well, we could, but that's why I'm over here so early. It's time-sensitive.

Rey: It's okay. I-I should -- I should go home. You should hear him out. This could be something good.

Sharon: Thanks for being so understanding.

Rey: You can make it up to me later. Thank you.

Nick: Yep. I did not... mean to make things awkward.

Sharon: What's this job about, and why do you have to fill it so fast?

Nick: Well, I'm losing people at dark horse left and right. Jack was just voted back in as C.E.O. Of jabot.

Sharon: Oh, phyllis got fired? You could always hire her.

Nick: And abby and arturo are gone.

Sharon: Oh. Well, they obviously can't work together anymore.

Nick: Well, abby fired arturo, which I was cool with 'cause she's my sister, but then she quit. She suggested maybe I hire arturo back. I'm thinking about it.

Sharon: Well, I assume you're not here to ask me to do the work arturo did, or jack, so... you're offering me abby's position?

Nick: Head of P.R. How's that sound?

Sharon: Wow. It's just so out of left field.

Nick: Ah, I mean, not really, right? You have some experience with this sort of thing. You were a spokesperson. You're great with people. And we work great together. Remember restless style and newman cosmetics? We made a great team.

Sharon: A great team? Sorry if I'm just having a little déjà vu.

Nick: What?

Sharon: That's what you said about us -- that we make a great team -- right before we were supposed to get married.

Jack: Hello, there.

Dina: John!

Jack: Dina.

Dina: [ Chuckles ] I was, uh, just telling jack and -- and ashley... I don't know who's been moving things around in here.

Jack: Well, maybe I can help sort that out.

Dina: You know, it makes me realize that...

[ Voice breaking ] I haven't been paying much attention around what's going on at home.

Jack: Well, you've been very busy, and -- and that's nothing to worry about.

Dina: Oh, there is, john. I haven't been here nearly enough. But that's all going to change.

Jack: Well, I'm sure ashley and jack are happy to hear that news.

Kyle: Of course we are.

Summer: Yeah, absolutely.

Dina: Our children... deserve everything that we can give them. Don't you agree?

Jack: I do.

Dina: Ohh. Well, you two... you two have a wonderful bond together. So stick together... and just know the sky's the limit for the both of you.

[ Chuckling ] Oh, thank you!

Summer: Thank you so much. That means the world. And you know what? I couldn't agree more.

Dina: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: [ Sighs ] Cane, we have failed each other more than once.

Cane: We aren't quitters, okay? And when things get hard like this, all we have to do is just put in the work. That's all we got to do, baby.

Lily: Cane, doing the work means exploring why we keep hurting each other, and I don't think that you're willing to do that.

Cane: Look, I understand that when you came here, you know, you lost your control and you're desperate to get it back, but, honey, this is not the way to do it, all right?

Lily: I'm -- I'm not desperate. If anything, living behind these walls has prepared me for the life I want when I'm out of here.

Cane: The life that you need is with me and the kids. And when you get out of here, that's what you need. It's where you belong. You belong at home with us.

Lily: I'm being released sooner than we thought.

Cane: What?

Lily: That's why I sent the divorce papers. I've been given an early release for my work with the other prisoners.

Cane: That's fantastic. You're gonna be free.

Lily: Not if I walk back into the same life I was in before. It's time for a fresh start.

Cane: [ Sighs ]

Nick: To be clear, I am just offering you a job. I'm not asking you to marry me again.

[ Both chuckle ]

Sharon: I got that. Yeah. But we've worked so hard to find this balance -- you know, our friendship and the kids. Do we really want to risk all that?

Nick: Honestly, I wasn't thinking about our personal relationship when I thought of the job offer. I just thought that you would be great at this.

Sharon: Oh. Well... thank you. I appreciate that.

Nick: And I know you don't need it. You have crimson lights. But... dark horse could be an exciting new challenge for you.

Sharon: Yeah, but I did go back to school so that I could do something with a more personal connection, you know -- more of a purpose. And I really enjoyed working as a victim liaison -- until everything happened with rey.

Nick: I get it. Well, you know, dark horse does do a lot of charity. I could also put you in charge of that. You know, you could use our money and resources to aid victim-rights groups -- whatever you want. And think about it. You could have a much bigger impact as opposed to just one on one.

Sharon: Wow. Low blow. You do know the way to my heart.

Nick: See? Look at that. I'm using our personal relationship to my advantage. Come handle P.R. For dark horse. What do you think?

Rey: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ] Hi. Is this dr. Abrams' office? Is the doctor in? This is rey rosales, mia rosales' husband. I have some questions regarding her pregnancy.

Cane: You being released should be one of the best days of our lives, but it feels like you're just taking a sledgehammer to our marriage.

Lily: I know you think that I'm being selfish and that I'm not considering you, but I am. I'm doing this for both of us.

Cane: Baby, how do you figure that... when you know it's not what i want?

Lily: You just can't see that it is, but you need a fresh start as much as I do.

Cane: But I don't want to start over without you.

Lily: You will... as soon as the anger and the frustration melts away and the fog lifts.

Cane: This isn't how you and I come to an end, though.

Lily: [ Chuckles softly ] Yet [Sighs] It is.

Cane: I love you.

Lily: I love you, too.

Cane: So, um... where are you gonna go?

Lily: Um [Sighs] I don't know. But I know that, uh... I just want a simpler life, you know? No modeling agency, no hassle of the city. I just want [Sighs] A peaceful existence.

Cane: That sounds good, doesn't it?

Lily: I just want to be happy. And I want you to be happy, too.

Cane: You know... I keep thinking if it wasn't for that accident... that one day... that one red light... things would be so different for us right now and we'd just be living our lives and we'd be happy.

Lily: [ Sighs ] I don't know if we would

[Chuckles softly] 'Cause if it weren't this, it... would have been something else.

[ Door opens ]

Rey: Sorry. I'm gonna have to call you back. Hey. Come in.

Sharon: Okay.

Rey: So, talk to me. Tell me about this new job.

Sharon: I would, but I didn't take it.

Rey: Really? Why not?

Sharon: I may help nick with some charity work for dark horse on the side, but, for now... I'm actually enjoying unemployment.

Rey: You are?

Sharon: Last night was amazing. I'd like to take some more time off... to spend with you. Things are just getting started, and I want us to get off on the right foot.

Kyle: Hey.

Summer: Hey. How's dina?

Kyle: Ah, my dad put on an old movie for her. Thank you for your help earlier.

Summer: Yeah, of course.

Kyle: You were great. I mean it -- especially for someone who hasn't dealt with this kind of thing up close and personal. It can be...tricky and delicate.

Summer: Ah, I was just following your leaD.

Kyle: You struck the perfect tone. Even though you don't know dina all that well... you went above and beyond.

Summer: Not really. I mean, I'm your wife, so that makes her my family now, too.

Kyle: I'm glad she likes you. She doesn't like everyone.

Summer: Uh, no, she likes ashley, not me.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] She thought she was talking to ashley. She was responding to you -- your essence.

Summer: You think so?

Kyle: Yeah! So stop downplaying it and take the compliment, okay?

Summer: Okay, fine.

[ Both chuckle softly ]

Kyle: It was also cool of you to help us brainstorm last night. You had some great ideas for jabot.

Summer: Yeah, well, I mean, i just -- I support you in anything that you do.

Kyle: Thank you for that.

Summer: You know, I wasn't sure when or if I was gonna fit in around here, but I finally feel like I am.

Kyle: You definitely are.

Summer: And I feel like you and I are getting closer every day, like... we can talk about anything.

Kyle: Yeah, me, too.

Summer: So, um... I was wondering...

Kyle: Mm.

Summer: Um... where's your phone?

Kyle: Hmm? Whoa.

Summer: Can we talk... about... this?

Billy: I'm sorry to hear that, traci. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.

Traci: That's okay. You know, jack got home, and, besides, kyle and summer were amazingly good with her.

Billy: Really?

Billy: It's a little early in the day for this, isn't it?

Cane: Hey, hey, hey. I deserve to drink, and I'm not in the mood for your judgment.

Billy: I'm not judging, cane. I'm just observing.

Cane: You observe? You know what you do? You -- you interfere and you meddle in other people's lives when it's none of your business.

Billy: Okay. Did something happen with lily?

Cane: Did something happen with lily? My marriage is over, and she wants a divorce.

Billy: I'm sorry to hear that.

Cane: No, you're not sorry. You're not sorry, 'cause you're the one who threw the grenade that blew us up.

Billy: Okay, be careful, all right? That's the booze talking.

Traci: Look, everybody, i just think it's better not to engage.

Cane: That's right, so stay out of it.

Traci: Cane. Cane. Let's not do this, okay?

Cane: You ruined my life, and you destroyed my marriage.

Billy: Hey. What do you want from me?

Cane: I want you to admit what you did... and I want an apology.

Billy: I told the truth to lily, all right? And I am not gonna apologize for that.

Cane: Okay. Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to beat it out of you, then.

Traci: Okay, that's enough. That's it. Everybody take a step back. Come on. You... you should know better than to get into it with him in this shape. And, cane, what are you trying to do -- get arrested? I'm guessing the gcac has a policy against fistfights in the dining room, and that's where this is headed.

Cane: There's no consequences for his actions.

Traci: Okay, but don't focus on him because it's not gonna do you any good. I can see that you're hurting, and I'm sure that your family is in crisis. But you know this is not the answer.

Cane: There are no answers now. There's none.

Traci: Okay. Okay. Come on. Can I just drive you home? Let's do that. Come on. I'll take you home. Okay? Let's go, cane. Come on, sweetie.

Nick: Hey, rebekah.

Rebekah: Nick.

Nick: I have not, uh... seen you since...

Rebekah: That humiliating night in my suite.

Nick: Uh, you know, I really hope you know it was never my intention to embarrass you that night.

Rebekah: Oh, all's forgiven. I probably should have apologized that night, too, but I was trying to high-tail it out of there -- with my clothes on... and whatever dignity I had left.

Nick: Well, I'm more than happy to forget it ever happened.

Rebekah: Oh, it would be a shame to forget everything. We did have a few good -- yet harmless -- moments before phyllis showed up.

Nick: Perfectly harmless.

Rebekah: So, how is she doing being ousted as C.E.O.?

Nick: I don't know. I haven't seen her, and I don't pknow when I will.

Rebekah: And that's because...?

Nick: We're not together anymore.

Rebekah: I'm sorry to hear that.

Nick: It's probably for the best.

Rebekah: No offense -- there may have been a few red flags in your relationship, like how quickly she pimped you out to score a deal.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] You know, rebekah, that wouldn't even make the top-10 list of our problems.

Rebekah: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: So, what are you doing in town -- just checking on your product line?

Rebekah: Not exactly. Billy offered me a consulting position at jabot.

Nick: Does that mean you're gonna be in town more often?

Rebekah: Don't know. Depends I I find it interesting enough to stick around.

Kyle: It's just an old picture of lola.

Summer: That you stare at sometimes?

Kyle: I was checking up on her. She's recovering from surgery, too.

Summer: I know. I know exactly how she feels.

Kyle: I'm not hiding anything from you.

Summer: And I wasn't snooping. Pyour phone just was next to the bed yesterday, and I happened to see it -- after we made love.

Kyle: I'm sorry.

Summer: I mean, it kind of hurt my feelings.

Kyle: Hey. The last thing I want to do is hurt your feelings. Hey. Give me the phone. How 'bout I delete lola -- contact info, photos? I'll wipe it clean.

Summer: You would do that for me?

Kyle: If that's what you need to feel okay about everything.

Summer: I mean, yeah. That would really mean a lot.

Kyle: All right.

[ Sighs ] Done.

Summer: Thank you. Thank you.

Rey: Let me take your coat.

Sharon: Okay. Oh, gosh, I'm just such a jerk. Here I am, yammering on about the job I turned down while you're dealing with the one you lost.

Rey: Oh, it's -- it's fine. I didn't see it that way.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Being a cop is... a big part of who you are.

Rey: Mm.

Sharon: You have to be feeling a whirlwind of emotions.

Rey: Mostly doubt -- wondering who I am without it.

Sharon: You're a cop through and through, even if you're not employed as one.

Rey: Hmm. I stand by what I did for you and the others.

Sharon: You're a hero in my eyes.

Rey: Hmm. Yeah, well, I doubt paul sees it that way.

Sharon: You know, maybe... you should try talking to him again. I've known paul for a really long time. He's a good man. He's tough, but he's fair.

Rey: Yeah, I appreciate the thought, but the chances of me changing paul's mind are slim to none.

Sharon: Well, genoa city is not the only town that needs smart, dedicated cops. There are a lot of other neighboring cities that'd be lucky to have you.

Rey: Yeah. The only problem is they all would have heard why I got fired.

Sharon: Well, that can be spun. I may not have taken the P.R. Job, but I know how to spin a story. You just explain the extenuating circumstances and you offer another point of view. And there are a lot of people who will vouch for you that you're a great cop, including me.

Rey: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Maybe after some more time passes, we can convince paul or christine to give you a good reference.

Rey: Thank you.

Sharon: For what?

Rey: For everything. For -- for having my back.

Sharon: Your back, your front, and every side of you.

Rey: Oh! Are you...using me for sex?

Sharon: Sex is just one of the benefits of being with you.

Rey: [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: I meant what I said before. You can talk to me about anything. I want to be that person for you, and vice versa.

Rey: I would like that.

Rebekah: That night in my hotel suite, what phyllis did -- I'm not used to getting played like that. I'm used to being in control.

Nick: Yeah, that comes across loud and clear.

Rebekah: When you're the boss, you have to be decisive, in control, and sometimes merciless. So, tell me, what's your leadership style? Do you want people to like you or fear you?

Nick: Well, my father likes to rule with more of a fear-based approach. I like more of a likable one, with just a hint of scary from time to time.

Rebekah: Well, I'm definitely liking you right now.

Nick: Well, I'm definitely a little scared of you right now.

Rebekah: [ Chuckles ] It's nothing a few cocktails won't cure.

Nick: Well, then why won't you let me take you out -- see if I can't convince you to stay around longer than you'd planned?

Rebekah: Done.

Traci: This will help.

Cane: How is that going to help?

Traci: Well, it will sober you up, for starters... so that you can start to deal with the situation in front of you.

Cane: There's nothing we can do... 'cause my marriage is over.

Traci: Are you sure about that?

Cane: Yeah. Lily made it very clear.

Traci: Okay. Well... sometimes it helps to talk to someone who'S... uninvolved, you know -- get an outside opinion.

Cane: What do you mean -- like a shrink?

Traci: I'm not gonna make you lie down... but I do have some time. And I am a good listener. Honey... why don't you start at the beginning?

Billy: Yeah, hi. Can I have victoria newman's room, please? Pardon me? Uh, can you, uh, just try it again? Last name is newman, and first name is victoria. No, I'M... you know what? Forget it. Thanks for you time.

Jack: Thank you.

[ Grunts softly ]
