Lauren: Fenmore's is my legacy from my father. And if I have the opportunity to be independent again [Scoffs] You're damn right I'm gonna do that.

Jack: Jabot's recovery, necessitated by your leaving town with nearly our entire product line, is cut off at the knees.

Ashley: I'm going to save jabot.

Phyllis: How?

Ashley: By taking it over.

Abby: Congratulations, uncle jack. You are hereby reinstated as C.E.O. Of jabot.

Summer: Hey, finally.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Meeting took longer than i expected.

Summer: You look terrible.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] You know that chemist your mom hired to take over in the lab?

Summer: Yeah, kerry johnson.

Kyle: Her real name is dominique carroll. And she's been working for someone else.

Summer: What? Wha-- who?

Kyle: Ashley.

Summer: Oh, my god. No way.

Kyle: And all the products she created for jabot, she registered them to... ashley's company.

Summer: Oh, my god. Are you sure that your aunt is actually behind all this?

Kyle: Yeah, she showed up in person to take credit.

Summer: Wow. Wow. Okay. Well, don't worry. My mom's not gonna let her get away with that.

Kyle: Thanks. Um... phyllis doesn't have much say in the matter.

Summer: Why not?

Kyle: [ Sighs ] The board's holding her responsible.

Summer: Okay, kerry fooled everybody, and my mom's gonna be the one to go down for it?

Kyle: Phyllis was the C.E.O.

Summer: But not anymore?

Kyle: Voted out. [ Sighs ]

Summer: And who was elected to replace her?

[ Knock on door ]

Jack: Come in.

Lauren: You sure?

Jack: Lauren! Absolutely. What can I do for you?

Lauren: I wanted to wish you well.

Jack: Well, thank you. That means a lot, considering you didn't vote for me.

Lauren: To be honest, I don't agree with your plans for jabot going forward.

Jack: My plan is for success.

Lauren: You're letting your issues with ashley get in the way of what's best for this company.

Jack: I am not going to give in to her demands.

Lauren: It'll be a pyrrhic victory. You're gonna end up laying off hundreds of employees who depend on jabot and fenmore's for their livelihood.

Jack: Both companies will thrive, I assure you.

Lauren: Well, I wish I had your confidence. But I don'T. And that's why I want to buy back jabot's stake in fenmore'S.

Devon: Okay. There we go. All right, guys. Come on in.

Jett: Whoa-ho-ho. Yes, indeed. [ Chuckles ]

Devon: Yeah, yeah. Welcome to your new home.

Jett: Oh.

Devon: Uh, I have to head out for a little while, but ana has stocked the fridge -- which is right around that corner, down the hall, and to the left -- and just feel free to help yourself.

Jett: Uh... do you -- do you mind?

Devon: No, please. Help your -- yeah. Be my guest, man.

Jett: [ Chuckles ] Thank you.

Devon: Of course.

Jett: [ Playing melody ]

Ashley: Oh! I've missed you so much. It's so good to see you.

Abby: Oh, well, it's good to see you, too. I just wish it were under different circumstances.

Ashley: Yeah. What happened after I left jabot?

Abby: Phyllis was ousted as C.E.O. And uncle jack was voted in, as you expected.

Ashley: Yep.

Abby: Mom, I don't know what you're planning, but please, count me out. I don't want to be in the middle of another family battle.

Ashley: I didn't come here for a battle.

Abby: No, just to blindside everyone by taking over the company.

Ashley: There wouldn't be a company without my contributions, so...

Abby: Mom, I don't see uncle jack answering to his little sister.

Ashley: Well, you know what? That's too bad. Whether he likes it or not, I'm taking over the family business.

[ Scoffs ] I hear ya. But, um, look at me. I'm feeling stronger every day. I've even been thinking about making a comeback.

Jack: Lauren, you and I both love and respect our fathers and the companies they created.

Lauren: Right. So you must understand why I would want to regain what mine left me.

Jack: Yes, of course I do.

Lauren: So you will sell me the 49% that jabot owns?

Jack: Jabot divesting its stake in fenmore's makes no sense right now.

Lauren: For who?

Jack: It is the one arm of the company that is slated to make a profit in the next quarter.

Lauren: Well, if you accept my deal, you can use the cash to rebuild the areas of jabot you want to concentrate on.

Jack: Fenmore's is integral to my plan to revitalize all of jabot.

Lauren: I'd love to hear more about that.

Jack: And I'd love to tell you more -- in the next couple of days.

Lauren: Oh, don't do this, jack. Do not use my profits to finance your scheme for jabot.

Jack: Do you even have the funds to buy jabot's stake in fenmore's?

Lauren: It will take me some time to finance.

Jack: Then this conversation is moot.

Lauren: And when I get the money, will you sell me back what's rightfully mine?

Jack: If you manage to pull that off, we'll talk. In the meantime, I look forward to working together.

Lauren: Hi, honey. How are you?

Phyllis: Oh, fantastic. Couldn't be better.

Lauren: [ Sighs ] Listen, I'm so sorry about the way the vote went.

Phyllis: Well, thank you for having my back.

Lauren: Listen, the last thing this company needs is another round of jack and ashley.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, I would think they'd be tired of fighting each other.

Lauren: I just cannot believe that my company is involved in a family squabble.

Phyllis: Is that why you're here?

Lauren: Yes. I asked jack to sell me back his shares of fenmore'S.

Phyllis: Oh. Let me guess -- he turned you down.

Lauren: Ish. [ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Okay. What does that mean?

Lauren: It means he said he wasn't interested, but then asked me if I had the money.

Phyllis: Do you?

Lauren: Not all of it. But if I could get an investor to put up a minority stake, I actually think he would sell to me.

Phyllis: What about me?

Lauren: What about you?

Phyllis: If I put up the cash, would you let me run fenmore's with you?

Lauren: Is this some sort of joke?

Phyllis: No. I'm dead serious. What kind of money? What kind of investment are we talking about?

Lauren: Let's go to my office and talk about this.

Ashley: So, how's my mother doing these days?

Abby: Dina is confused. More so now than ever.

Ashley: About what?

Abby: Everything. I mean, where she is, who she's with.

Ashley: Does she recognize jack and traci at all?

Abby: Sometimes. It's just really heartbreaking to see her like that.

Ashley: It is. Well, things are looking up for you, though, right? You have something wonderful to look forward to.

Abby: Yeah. I mean, the restaurant's coming along nicely --

Ashley: What are you talking about, your restaurant? What about your wedding? How are the plans?

Abby: Oh. Um... heh... that. Yeah, no, it's not happening anymore.

Ashley: What?

Abby: I broke things off with arturo, yeah.

Ashley: Why?

Abby: It's a long story. I'd rather not get into it.

Ashley: Okay. Are you all right?

Abby: Yeah. I-I'm fine. I'm better than fine, actually. Uh... [ Chuckles ] I'm doing the whole declutter-of-my-life thing.

Ashley: Sounds liberating.

Abby: Yeah. I am getting rid of everything that ceased to bring me joy, starting with my ex-fiancé and my job at dark horse.

Ashley: Wait a second. So you're not working with nick anymore?

Abby: I am hitting the reset button on my life. I'm starting off fresh.

Ashley: Hmm. How about doing it in paris?

Abby: What?

Ashley: Yes! Come back with me. You could be my second in command.

Abby: Uh...

Ashley: I can create a whole new job for you. You can name the position. You can name your salary.

Abby: Are you bribing me?

Ashley: Absolutely!

Abby: [ Laughs ]

Ashley: Yes, I am.

Abby: Mom, it's very flattering. Thank you for the offer, but... no. I -- I have to stay in genoa city. My new restaurant's opening.

Ashley: Your new restaurant's opening. I thought that was on hold because your chef is recovering from surgery, abby.

Abby: Lola is good to go, and I am lining up the whole staff. I'm doing a whole media blitz about the opening.

Ashley: Sounds like you're all-in with this project.

Abby: I am so ready to be my own boss. I can't wait.

Lola: I'm starting to feel like myself again. In fact, I made some soup.

Devon: Smells delicious.

Lola: I'm about to have a bowl. Would you like some?

Devon: Well, I will never turn down your cooking.

Lola: I had to improvise since I'm using rey's kitchen.

Devon: I'm sure it's delicious. Thank you very much. But, um, you need to not be pushing yourself so hard.

Lola: Ah, you sound like my brothers, and everyone else.

[ Sighs ]

Devon: Everybody else isn't wrong. You need to take it easy and rest.

Lola: I have rested more in the last couple of weeks than I have in my entire life. Spoons are right there.

Devon: Okay. Thank you. Yeah, I bet you have, 'cause, uh, you just got out of the hospital. Right? There's no rush.

Lola: Thank you. Look, if I didn't have this restaurant to look forward to, I would lose my mind.

Devon: Well, according to the

gc buzz, we're opening soon.

Lola: Did abby not tell you?

Devon: No. I mean, last time we spoke, we agreed we were gonna let you recover fully.

Lola: Well, are you saying that you're not on board with this?

Jack: Go over that contract line by line. Find some way to disallow kerry -- or whatever her name is -- from registering those patents under ashley's company. No, I'm not blaming you. No, no, phyllis should have consulted you guys.

[ Huffs ] Thank you. It's good to be back. Uh, get back to me with that contract. What can I do for you?

Phyllis: Wow. Well, you look awfully comfortable behind that desk. Like I was just a little placeholder.

Jack: I was rooting for you, phyllis.

Phyllis: Until you weren'T.

Jack: Why are you here?

Phyllis: To discuss my severance package.

Jack: Severance?

Phyllis: Why do you sound so surprised? I negotiated a very nice golden parachute. It includes six months severance and a sizeable cash bonus.

Jack: All of which you would be entitled to if you were fired without cause.

Phyllis: You're gonna hold me responsible for your girlfriend's deception?

Jack: You failed to provide proper oversight for an employee that you hired.

Phyllis: Are you really gonna do this?

Jack: Jabot is on fiscal life support right now. How do I justify rewarding the person who put us there?

Phyllis: [ Chuckles angrily ] And here I thought you were better than that.

Jack: Phyllis, you're gonna land on your feet. You always do.

Phyllis: Yeah, I do. And when I do, you better be looking over your shoulder.

Kyle: So she can find out from someone else?

Summer: Okay, you're right. But, you know what, you should go before she gets here.

Summer: Well, no. I mean, can you blame her? You voted to have her tossed out as C.E.O.

Kyle: That, she might forgive me for.

Summer: Why? Did something else happen?

Kyle: Wasn't really a big deal.

Summer: Okay, well, just tell me anyway.

Kyle: It came out that my dad, billy, and I had been trying to remove her as C.E.O. Before the stuff with the patents came out.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] And this wasn't a big deal?

Kyle: We were worried about jabot's rep after all the bad publicity surrounding the murder trial.

Summer: And you were gonna use that to oust my mom?

Kyle: It was strictly business.

Summer: Okay, you really should go.

Kyle: Right.

Summer: Yeah, no. Head-on collision coming our way. It's too late. Mom... hi. I'm so sorry about what happened.

Phyllis: Thank you, honey.

Summer: Kerry johnson is a backstabbing bitch, isn't she?

Phyllis: Well, she isn't the only one wielding a knife today.

Kyle: Phyllis, I --

Phyllis: Don'T... you dare.

Summer: Okay, come on, mom. You really can't be mad that kyle sided with his dad.

Phyllis: You want to bet? What is it that you wanted to talk to me about? What? Did you do something to my daughter?

Kyle: [ Stammers ]

Summer: No! No, no. Okay, I should have told you this sooner -- and I was going to -- but you've just been really busy with work and --

Phyllis: Bottom-line it.

Summer: Okay, well, it's complicated --

Kyle: She saved someone's life.

Lola: You know, I wish that you would get that I am fine.

Devon: Oh, well, I, uh -- I know that you're fine. But I don't think that you realize how demanding this job is gonna be on you.

Lola: I made a commitment to you and abby. And when you're ready, I will be, too.

Devon: And I appreciate you wanting to do that. But, you know, even with all the money I put into this restaurant, I care more about your health than I do the investment.

Lola: That's very sweet.

Devon: It's very true. And I don't want you ending up back in the hospital.

Lola: I won'T. I promise.

Devon: Okay. Then I will tell abby that we're back on.

Lola: Great. I'm glad that there's no problem between you and abby.

Devon: Yeah, no. I -- I don't think she meant to keep me out of the loop.

Lola: You know, she probably thought that she was doing you a favor by trying to handle as much as she could on her own.

Devon: She's a force, for sure. But, uh, I should take off and let you get some actual --

Lola: Do not. No. Don't say it.

Devon: Okay. As long as you promise me you'll do it.

Lola: You know, devon, thank you for dropping by.

Devon: [ Chuckles ] Sure. Has anyone ever told you you're stubborn?

Lola: Pretty much the whole world.

Devon: Oh, yeah?

Lola: Mm-hmm.

Devon: Feels good, doesn't it? Take it easy, all right?

Lola: [ Exhales heavily ]

Abby: So, will I see you back in town for the opening of my new restaurant?

Ashley: Yeah. I mean, who knows, it might even time out with the merger.

Abby: You don't give up, do you?

Ashley: Mnh-mnh. It's gonna happen. And then I'm gonna have an excuse to come back on a regular basis, so...

Abby: Well, what if uncle jack turns down your offer?

Ashley: You know what, honey, you need to have more faith in your mother.

Abby: He was adamant about rejecting your proposal.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] And I've known your uncle jack a lot longer than you have. He doesn't like it, clearly, when I have the upper hand. It makes him angry. There's a lot of yelling.

Abby: Chairs go flying through the window.

Ashley: Exactly. And then he calms down, and he starts to think rationally.

Abby: Well, it might be a little difficult for him to calm down when he has billy and kyle in his ear telling him to stand his ground.

Ashley: There's a voice in his other ear that carries more weight than theirs.

Abby: Yes, uncle jack loves aunt traci, but he doesn't go to her for business advice.

Ashley: I'm not talking about aunt traci.

Abby: Then who?

[ Knock on door ]

Ashley: Right on time. Hello, jackie. I found one!

Lauren: [ Sighs ] I can't imagine what my father would think if he knew that 49% of our profits were being used to try and save another company.

Michael: Come here.

Lauren: Hm?

Michael: Your father would tell you how proud he is of the job you're doing at fenmore'S.

Lauren: I wonder what john abbot would think about his children?

Michael: [ Scoffs ] "Disappointed" is the first word that comes to mind.

Lauren: This constant, constant arguing. Over -- over what? Who gets to call the shots? I mean, come on.

Michael: Sibling rivalry at its best -- or worst.

Lauren: You realize that jabot has dozens of products ready to go? Packaging planned. Marketing plans all laid out. Retail space secured. I mean, sales will go through the roof.

Michael: I know. If -- if only jack and ashley would put their egos aside.

Lauren: Right. But they refuse.

Michael: I know how frustrating this is for you, but you have got to find a way to get through this.

Lauren: But there has got to be a way to break the contract between fenmore's and jabot.

Michael: I've been over it a dozen times. It's ironclad.

Lauren: Can you please look again? Please see if there is some way to prove that the abbotts have not held up their end of the deal?

Michael: [ Sighs ]

Michael: For you, absolutely. But don't get your hopes up.

Phyllis: Okay, so, you thought, you know, major surgery -- "why bother telling my own mother?"

Summer: Okay, I didn't mean to cut you out --

Phyllis: But calling me just slipped your mind?

Kyle: Summer wanted to do this anonymously.

Phyllis: Who else knows?

Summer: Uh, a few people. Um... lola. Her brothers. Jack. Dad. Grandma and grandpa.

Kyle: Abby.

Phyllis: So everyone knows except me.

Summer: Mom, please don't be mad at me.

Phyllis: What if something happened to you?

Summer: Okay, well, nothing did. I am fine, and lola is fine, too.

Phyllis: Well, I hope she appreciates what you've done for her.

Kyle: She does. We all do.

Phyllis: You better.

Summer: Okay, well, kyle has been wonderful. He's been taking really good care of me, and he's been treating me like a princess.

Phyllis: After what you've done, I should hope so.

Summer: He's the best husband that a girl could ask for, mom.

Phyllis: It's nice to know you're stepping up. But you... you are the one I am impressed with. What you did was incredibly selfless and courageous, and I'm very proud of you.

Summer: Okay, mom. Stop. You're gonna make me cry.

Phyllis: Well, that would be payback for not telling me about this sooner.

Summer: All right. Well, next time I decide to donate part of my body, I promise you will be the first person to know.

Phyllis: Could you let me, uh, just talk to my daughter alone, please?

Kyle: Sure.

Phyllis: Thank you.

Summer: What?

Phyllis: I know what you said...about lola's surgery -- that that was not the reason that you were anxious about getting married.

Summer: It isn'T. I wanted to marry kyle so, that way, when I woke up in the hospital, my husband would be by my side, and I got my wish.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, kyle got what he wanted, too. He got you to save the life of the woman he loves.

Ashley: Now, abby, please tell me you're gonna stay and celebrate with us.

Abby: I appreciate your optimism, but I am interviewing new sommeliers for the restaurant.

Jack: A sommelier? I thought this was gonna be a hipster joint?

Abby: I'm looking for a coffee sommelier.

Jack: Oh. Then it's totally hipster. Well, good luck.

Abby: Mwah! You too.

Jack: Am I gonna need it?

Abby: I just hope that you and mom can work something out. Our family needs to heal. Bye, mom.

Ashley: Oh, bye, honey. I love you.

Abby: I love you. Bye.

Jack: See ya, kid.

Ashley: She spoke some very wise words. We should drink to them. Oh, no, huh? You want to, uh, stay clear-headed while we negotiate?

Jack: I'm not here to negotiate.

Ashley: So you accept my offer?

Jack: I'm here to say thank you.

Ashley: For what?

Jack: Well, as kerry -- or dominique probably told you, I've been trying to get phyllis out for months. I would have accomplished it eventually, but you expedited the process.

Ashley: Phyllis never in a million years should have been running our family's company.

Jack: Agreed. Ironic, though, isn't it, that you of all people made it possible for me to be back in charge.

Ashley: You can repay me by letting me buy jabot.

Jack: No way in hell.

Ashley: So you're bent on revenge?

Jack: No, that's your game, not mine.

Ashley: And then what will you have?

Jack: I will have control of our father's company.

Ashley: You're gonna end up destroying what you love most. And what about all those loyal employees?

Jack: They're on my side.

Ashley: Not for long, jack. Not when they realize that you've chosen your petty grievances over their personal welfare.

Jack: Oh, and you haven't?

Ashley: I think you're gonna regret not selling to me.

Jack: Don't bet on it.

Ashley: Jack, our father wouldn't want this. He wouldn't want us to be at each other's throats all the time, destroying his hopes and dreams for this company.

Jack: I am trying to honor his hopes and dreams.

Ashley: By what? Putting me in my place? You did not learn that from our father. He was trying to teach you to reign in your darker impulses and put the family first.

Jack: Don't use dad's memory to try to guilt me into giving you what you want.

Ashley: I think he'd be ashamed of you.

Jack: Oh, and he'd be so proud of you? Stealing jabot products, sabotaging the company's future.

Ashley: I stole nothing. Dad signed those patents over to me because he knew I would need leverage over you eventually.

Jack: He didn't think you would use them against jabot.

Ashley: That's what you're doing, jack. You're destroying that company. Why can't you just accept what both of our parents want?

Jack: Oh, now we're bringing dina into this, too?

Ashley: Well, she is the one, isn't she, who gave me the credit I deserved?

Jack: Oh, and what did you do to thank her? You took your toys and ran off to paris.

Ashley: And I'm standing right in front of you now, and our mother is quickly slipping away. Don't you think it's time that we honor both of our parents' wishes and bring our family together?

Jack: Forgive and forget, just like that?

Ashley: I can end this feud if you can, jack.

Jack: And how do you propose we do that?

Ashley: By working together. What do you say?

Lauren: I'm worried about fen. The last time I talked to him, he sounded very tired and frustrated.

Michael: Did he? Musician. I mean, it -- it seemed that way when his first single came out.

Lauren: Right. Except now he's on the low-budget tour. He's working his tail off for very little.

Michael: Well, it's hard to get behind that, especially now that you've told me he's unhappy.

Lauren: This is his dream, michael.

Michael: Yeah, well, the dreams don't pay the bills.

Lauren: I know all of this comes from love, but all he hears is a lack of support.

Michael: So he won't talk to me ever?

Lauren: He just doesn't want to hurt you.

Michael: I don't want to hurt him, either.

Lauren: So, then, maybe -- maybe you can find a way to tell him that.

Michael: [ Chuckles ] So, maybe I should be a little more like you?

Kyle: How are you feeling?

Lola: I'm good. I'm really good.

Kyle: Yeah? Surprised you're out and about.

Lola: Well, dr. Hastings said it would be good to move around. I'm trying to build up my strength. The restaurant's opening soon.

Kyle: I heard. You must be pumped.

Lola: Yeah. You know how long I've been waiting for this opportunity.

Kyle: Yeah. Nobody deserves it more than you. But I wish abby'd give you a little more time to recuperate.

Lola: Shouldn't you be looking after your wife?

Summer: You know, mom, you're wrong about kyle.

Phyllis: For your sake, I wish I was.

Summer: You know, you just hate anybody with the name abbott right now.

Phyllis: And for good reason. I don't trust them. Any of them.

Summer: Okay, well, you didn't used to feel that way.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, I was fooled, okay, with their fake smiles. On the outside, they are polite and charming. But underneath they are cold and ruthless, and they are always looking out for themselves.

Summer: Okay, well, kyle's not like that.

Phyllis: He's the worst in the bunch.

Summer: What? That is not true.

Phyllis: When he first came to town, he grabbed the C.E.O. Job away from his own father.

Summer: Okay, and he realizes that that was a mistake.

Phyllis: And then he teamed up with ashley to force billy out.

Summer: Okay, billy deserved to lose his job.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] What about me? He was working with jack and billy to out me the day I was voted in as C.E.O.

Summer: Well, that was strictly business, mom.

Phyllis: You got to wake up. Loyalty means nothing to kyle.

Summer: Okay, and if that was true, mom, kyle would have left the minute that I donated part of my liver, and he didn'T. He hasn'T. He is still by my side.

Phyllis: Is he?

Phyllis: So there's nothing going on between your husband and his ex?

Summer: Okay, they ran into each other. What do you expect him to do, be rude?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. How long does it take to say hello?

Summer: Okay, he's probably asking her how her recovery's going. Which, you know, I'm gonna do the same. So excuse me. Hi.

Kyle: Hi. I ran into lola.

Summer: Uh... well, it's good to see you out. How are you feeling?

Lola: Stronger every day.

Summer: That's good. I'm glad.

Lola: How are you doing?

Summer: Good. Uh... you know, I still get tired pretty easily. In fact, I was gonna ask kyle if he could take me home.

Kyle: Yeah, of course.

Summer: Okay.

Ana: Settling in okay?

Elena: Trying not to get too comfortable.

Ana: Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you want.

Elena: Yeah. But eventually I'll have to go, and I cannot afford living in a place like this.

Ana: You never know.

Elena: Maybe I could win the lottery.

[ Chuckles ]

Ana: I set aside a little bit of money every week so I can buy my own place one day.

Elena: Yeah, that's great -- if you didn't have student loans that you were paying off for the rest of your life.

Ana: Well, if jett makes a comeback, maybe he can help you out. After everything you've done for him.

Elena: I-I'm not looking for a handout.

Ana: I didn't mean to imply that you were.

Elena: Sorry. I just didn't want you to think that I was using uncle jett or your brother.

Ana: I don'T. I'm glad you're taking care of my dad. And that you moved in here.

Elena: Really?

Ana: Hey, we're cousins. And I hope we can be friends.

Phyllis: Uh, well, you know, I think I'm gonna need a little bit more time to get an accurate number.

Lauren: You're not changing your mind, are you?

Phyllis: Absolutely not. No, it just turns out my assets aren't as accessible as I thought.

Lauren: But you'll get the money?

Phyllis: Of course.

Lauren: Okay. Let me know when you do.

Phyllis: I will. Bye.

Jack: All I have ever wanted was for us to work together.

Ashley: It would make our parents so happy.

Jack: And you'd be willing to go back to the lab, to allow jabot to license all of the products that you own?

Ashley: And you would still be the C.E.O.?

Jack: We could make a brilliant team.

Ashley: Wow. You never change. You always have to be in control.

Jack: I was born to run that company. Just as you were born to run the lab.

Ashley: That company would not exist if it wasn't for my products, jack.

Jack: You have no equal in developing innovative and brilliant products.

Ashley: But you don't think I'm quite as capable as you are of running the company.

Jack: I just think I have more of a head for business.

Ashley: Oh, really? Well, you know what? Science is what leads this industry, and nobody knows where the science of cosmetics is headed better than I do, including you.

Jack: Okay, fine. Let's do a little experiment. This should appeal to the scientist in you.

Ashley: Okay. Mm-hmm. What kind of an experiment?

Jack: You run your company. I'll run mine. Let's see who turns a profit. Let's see who winds up bankrupt.

Ashley: [ Laughs ] Honestly? With your inventory? You honestly think you can best me?

Jack: You don't want to underestimate me. I have nowhere to go but up. I'm just starting to explore my options.

Ashley: Are you thinking about selling to somebody else?

Jack: Oh, I fought much too hard to get dad's company back from victor. I'm never selling it again. To anyone. Including you. What's wrong, sis? You worried you can't beat me?

Ashley: I know I can. I accept your challenge.

Jack: Let the battle begin.
