Episode #11539 ~ Nick learns one of Sharon's secrets; Jack demands the truth from Kerry.

Nikki: Phyllis is one who's trying to frame your father. Question is -- what are we gonna do about it? Nicholas, I have some information that's gonna throw a wrench into your investigation.

Jack: If you hadn't already eaten, I could bring lunch to you.

Kerry: Sorry, I don't have time to talk right now. I'm busy in the lab. Uh, another time. Call you later, okay?

Arturo: I used to just live day by day, but, with you, I can see forever. Will you marry me?

Billy: What the hell is going on here?

Cane: After, uh, billy caught us, he walked out of here and he got straight on the jabot jet, and he went to lakewood to see lily.

Victoria: He didn't tell her.

Cane: Yeah, he did.

Neil: Okay, so here's what we'll do. We'll hit the road first thing and visit your mom by 2:00.

Cane: Hey, what's going on? Hey, neil.

Neil: We're planning a trip to see lily.

Cane: Oh, that's cool. We already have one planned.

Mattie: Yeah, but with grandpa's plan, we can go sooner.

Charlie: And the whole family can come, all four of us.

Cane: All right.

Neil: Actually, I've already checked with your dad. He can't make it this time.

Kyle: This is not the time to leave the guy hanging.

Abby: I just, um...

[ Laughs ] Are you serious?

Mia: Exactly what I was thinking, having arturo propose at my wedding. Our wedding.

[ Chuckles ]

Arturo: I'm sorry. Father, I know that this isn't usually how this goes.

There's no rule book for these ceremonies. And love, I found that when it comes to matters of the heart, there is, uh, no usual. Besides, what's a bit of spontaneity on an already beautiful occasion?

Arturo: Thank you. You're absolutely right. Look at this guy.

He's a man in love.

Arturo: He's a happy man in love. You know, when we were younger, we never saw a happy marriage. But I'm looking at one now, and I want that. I never realized how much, but, um... I guess maybe this wasn't the best timing.

Rey: Hey. You're family. You do what you got to do.

Arturo: Abby... you changed me. Every day is different because of you. Something new that I didn't know, but I love it, and I need it. Will you change my life even more by marrying me?

Abby: [ Giggles ] Yes! Yes, yes, yes!

[ Applause ]

Phyllis: Ooh! What are you doing? Taking out all your frustrations on the dart board? Tell me all about your stressful day. Maybe in the shower?

Nick: I know what you did.

Phyllis: And that would be?

Nick: Because there are just so many to choose from? Maybe there are. I'm talking about the body that you buried.

Abby: You were worried?

Arturo: No.

Abby: It's beautiful.

Lola: Whoa, is that thing real?

Arturo: Yeah. It has to be. This one's worth it.

Kyle: Yes, well done, man.

Arturo: Thanks.

Sharon: How romantic.

Abby: [ Giggles ]

Rey: Well, look at you. You made the leap. So you're ready to settle down. I never thought I'd see it happen.

Arturo: [ Sighs ] Me either, man. Turns out, I just needed to meet the right woman.

Phyllis: So, who ratted me out?

Nick: That's your question?

Phyllis: Considering my name was never supposed to come into play...

Nick: There are bigger things to worry about right now.

Phyllis: Not for me. Yes. I was present at J.T.'S death. I was involved with his burial.

Nick: You say that like it's nothing.

Phyllis: It's not nothing. It was never nothing. I didn't kill J.T.

Nick: I know you didn'T. Mom did, defending victoria. But you were there.

Phyllis: After all this time, nikki's the one who caved.

Nick: I want to hear it from you.

Phyllis: What? The details? No, you don'T.

Nick: You know, my mom has changed her story so many times. First, she didn't know anything. Then she was just trying to save victoria. And now there are three people in the mix.

Phyllis: Wow.

Nick: I want the whole story, phyllis.

Phyllis: Nikki stopped that bastard the way any mother would. When she and victoria realized that he was dead... they panicked. So I stepped in. Thanks to me, your mother and your sister are not in prison right this very second.

Mattie: Is it because of business meetings? Is that why you can't come?

Charlie: Yeah, maybe you could just do a conference call in the car.

Mattie: Or borrow the h-dub jet. That'd be okay, right?

Charlie: Yeah, I mean, mom would really love to see all of us together this time.

Neil: Well, your dad was just up there, and sometimes your mom wants you all to herself.

Cane: Um, don't you have some physics homework you got to do?

Charlie: All right.

Cane: Do your homework. So, uh, what, all of a sudden, you're the gatekeeper of my wife? Is that what this is? I needed to go and see lily, and since you lied to the kids, I think you know.

Neil: Hey. Lily told me about you and victoria. And for lily's sake, I got to put up with your garbage behavior time and time again. Now, look, I backed lily when she wanted to forgive you, and i back her now when she doesn't want to see you.

Cane: I'm not gonna let her think I'm giving up --

Neil: Shut up!

Cane: Okay.

Neil: I need to go before i do something that I'll regret.

Mia: It's a sign! How powerful the love between rey and me is. I hope you all can feel it. It means you were meant to join us on our special day.

Sharon: It was a lovely ceremony. It's clear how much thought went into it.

Mia: It's true. In a lot of ways, I've been planning this is my head a long time.

Lola: You didn't tell me!

Arturo: I didn't tell anyone.

Lola: Well, abby is the right one for you, arturo, or else you wouldn't have done any of this.

Kyle: Yeah, abby's awesome. But I expected "the naked heiress" is gonna go full-scale bridezilla.

Abby: Oh, for sure, yeah. And I plan on making you wear a velvet purple tux to the ceremony just because I said so.

Lola: [ Giggles ]

Kyle: I can pull it off.

Arturo: Oh!

Abby: Sadly, I think that's true. I'll have to think of other ways to torture you.

Kyle: Uh, you know your way around that. Don't give her time to plan. Double wedding, right here and now.

Abby: Oh!

Mia: [ Laughs ] You are funny, kyle.

Arturo: You up for it?

Abby: Definitely, yeah. Uh-huh. [ Giggles ]

Arturo: No, I mean it. I mean, you already said you'd marry me. How about it? Right here, right now.

Devon: What's going on with you?

Neil: Your cheating brother-in-law, that's what's going on with me.

Devon: So he confessed to you what he did with victoria?

Devon: Yeah, he told me. He came here looking for absolution, like I assume he just did with you.

Neil: No, no, no. Not me. I heard it from your sister.

Devon: What do you mean, you heard it from lily? He went up there and told her after I told him not to go? He couldn't just leave her in peace?

Neil: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Cane did go and visit her, but he never got to see her. You know why? Billy abbott. He got there first, and he told her everything.

Devon: Billy -- what does billy abbott have to do with any of this? I know his connection to victoria, but that's not his place to go and dump that on lily while she's in prison. She must be going out of her mind right now.

Neil: My little girl... had her freedom taken away, and now this. From the man she thought she could count on.

Arturo: How about it? Right here, right now. I don't want to go another day without you as my wife.

Abby: I love you. I love you so much, and this is nothing that I expected, and i want to spend every day with you, but... I can't get married without my family.

Arturo: No, you're right, I'm sorry. Um, you deserve everything you want. The wedding of your dreams.

Abby: The wedding of our dreams. I mean, you're finally willing to do it. We got to do it right.

[ Giggles ]

Mia: [ Laughs ] Well, that was a cliffhanger, huh, people? Well, uh, back to the main event. We still have a lovely reception planned for you all. Devon hamilton himself wants us to have this evening perfect for us.

Rey: My wife is being modest. He did this for her because when you turn on the sparkle, no one can resist.

Mia: Aww, well, I'm a happy woman, and I just want my love to be a happy man.

Rey: Tonight is just the beginning. Again. Come on.

Mia: [ Giggles ]

Abby: [ Gasps ] Uncle jack!

Jack: Abby! Arturo.

Arturo: What's up?

Abby: I have some exciting news. Actually, we have some exciting news. Do you want to tell him. We're engaged!

Jack: When did this happen?

Abby: Just now. You're the first to know.

Jack: Congratulations. Oh! And I know you will do right by my niece.

Arturo: It's my new mission in life.

Abby: We have to get back to the wedding party, but I just wanted you to know.

Jack: Yeah, go, go, go. Congratulations! Did she just say "wedding party?"

Kyle: Yeah, I know. Rey and mia renewed their vows, and arturo proposed to abby.

Jack: When, during the "speak now or forever hold your peace" part?

Kyle: He waited until after the vows.

Jack: Well, unorthodox, but everyone seems happy. Uh, you know what, a renewal and an engagement at the same time? A lovely reminder that some relationships actually work out.

Kyle: And you'd need a reminder because...?

Jack: I think kerry and i have hit the end of the road.

Kyle: Wait, what happened?

Jack: I'm ready for a woman i can trust. Looks like I haven't found her this time, either.

Phyllis: J.T. Tormented your sister. He controlled her. He threatened her. He laid his hands on the mother of his children. You should have heard her that night. Everything that was spilling out of her. Sometimes, she would just choke back the tears. She would sound numb. So she went upstairs to rest. When I went up later, J.T. Was dead. Nikki and victoria were falling apart. All the thoughts were just coming so fast. J.T. Was after victoria. Not nikki. But nikki is the one that took him out. Victoria never told anyone about the abuse. So why claim it now, after the fact? I didn't think that those two could protect themselves, so I had to do it for them. Burying the body, cover the crime, make it look like J.T. Left town. It was disgusting. It was sickening. But it had to be done for nikki's sake. And, no, I did not tell you because we promised -- we promised not to tell a soul. Now, we weren't together then, but, once we were, I -- I decided the best way to stay loyal to you was to keep protecting your mother and your sister.

Nick: So you saved them?

Phyllis: I had to. I promised.

Nick: Phyllis, that would be a lot easier to believe if you hadn't held onto the murder weapon.

Jack: Hey, you don't have to join me.

Kyle: One drink and a little information. What exactly did kerry do?

Jack: I told you. She said she was stuck in the lab. The lab was closed.

Kyle: Right. I got that much. But I just assume there's more, since jumping straight to "I don't trust her" is kind of a stretch.

Jack: Here's the thing. I wasn't always upfront and forthright in my relationships in the past, I admit that, but that was in the past. I'm in a different place now. I'm not sure I have the patience to be with somebody who still needs to play games.

Kyle: Are you sure that's what she's doing?

Jack: This isn't the first time I felt like she was hiding something from me.

Kyle: Like what?

Jack: I don't know! But obviously it's important enough for her to risk what we have.

Kyle: Mm, maybe it's a top-secret project at another facility. Or she was taking some personal time.

Jack: That she has to lie about?

Kyle: Ask her.

Jack: It's not that simple.

Kyle: It is. Look, I know you've been burned, but that doesn't mean kerry's been doing the same thing. At least get some answers before you decide it's done.

[ Laughter ]

Rey: Oh, good. You're here.

Kyle: Sorry about that.

Rey: I wanted everyone together because now I have a very special surprise for my gorgeous wife.

Phyllis: Just help me understand exactly what you're thinking here. Because your mom has changed her story so many times, but yet, I'm the one being doubted here. I saved her. I protected your sister. I honored the agreement we had, and yet, I am the one under suspicion here.

Nick: You lied. You told mom and vick the poker was at the bottom of the lake.

Phyllis: Yes. Yes, it wasn't the complete truth. I went to the lake, but after calming everyone down, after dealing with the corpse, I knew it was on me to deal with the murder weapon. And I realized maybe, just maybe, I may need that one day to protect myself, legally. Because, in this little group, I am the odd man out. No one's gonna swoop in and save red. And it turns out, I am right because your mother just confessed homicide to you, and yet, I'm the one being interrogated here.

Nick: Then the poker showed up at the ranch, the one you had.

Phyllis: How many times have I told you? I don't anything about that! The poker was in a storage unit. Someone broke in, they took it, then they did what they did with it!

Nick: Are you hearing yourself right now?

Phyllis: Yes, I am hearing myself, and I'm hearing you, too, and I'm hearing a lot of accusation towards me, which i don't deserve.

Nick: You claimed my dad was guilty when you knew, more than anyone, that he wasn't! We talked about this. I heard you say you wanted dad to rot in jail. Phyllis, if you can mastermind this cover-up, you sure as hell can frame him for murder.

Devon: So now cane feels entitled to go up with you and the kids to visit lily? That's not gonna happen. I'll clear my schedule, though, so I can go with you guys.

Neil: No, no, no. Don't worry about that. I think it's best if I just take the kids myself, you know? Lily needs to spend some time with them alone, and when she's ready for more, then she'll let us know.

Devon: Sure.

Neil: Hey.

Devon: Hmm?

Neil: Lily's not my only priority. I mean, how are things going with you?

Devon: I actually got to finally have a sit-down with that songwriter.

Neil: Oh, yeah! The reclusive genius.

Devon: Right.

Neil: How'd you swing that?

Devon: Ana set it up.

Neil: Really?

Devon: Yeah.

Neil: So what do you think? Someone we can work with?

Devon: Absolutely.

Neil: Your sister has an eye for new talent.

Devon: Yeah, she sure does, and it's probably because she's so damn talented herself. Earlier today, I caught her singing at the piano.

Neil: Ahh! Lucky man. She's been hiding a light under that bushel lately, huh?

Devon: It got a little dusty in here for me, too.

Neil: What? Really? Cried some tears?

Devon: Yeah, it just hit me out of nowhere.

Neil: Hey. There's no shame in emotion. You know? All that noise about men being stoic and shut down... don't trip on that, don't fall for it.

Devon: Mm.

Neil: You know, you think you're riding it out, but I'm telling you, man, those tears don't just dry up and go away. Those feelings... they'll stay right there. That knot you feel at night when you're trying to sleep... or the dust when you hear a song.

Devon: I know, I can't keep dumping all my issues on you guys, though.

Neil: No, no, come on. You're not dumping. I love you to tears, man. We all love you. If it's not us, then talk to your therapist.

Devon: I know. I've been doing that, but it's just...

Neil: It's just a process. I know. So if listening to ana's music gives you that kind of release, then, my brother, keep listening.

[ Doorbell rings ]

[ Knocks on door ]

Cane: Hey. I'm not gonna let you shut me out of lily's life.

NEWS BREAK

Phyllis: So, is this all nikki? Did she decide I was the one who was dropping all the weapons around the ranch to frame victor?

Nick: She mentioned her theory.

Phyllis: Big shock there.

Nick: It's not the first time it occurred to me when I put together the list of all my father's enemies.

Phyllis: So I was on that list? I was an enemy? I wasn't a victim? Not someone who he basically had violated? That's fine. I was on the enemy list. That's fine. You can go ahead and let me in with the other thousand of victor-haters, but somehow, I am the lead suspect here.

Nick: You are the only one on the list who knew what happened to J.T.

Phyllis: That's fair enough. But consider this -- there was never a gun involved at all with J.T.'S murder. The kind that was left at the stables for the cops to find. Why would I try to trick the cops with the wrong murder weapon?

Nick: To cover up your own guilt? If all the attention is on my dad, then they're not looking at you or mom or vick.

Phyllis: I never pretended to give a damn about your father, and I wish he'd served every day of original sentence for what he did to me. But this is a fact, nick. I did not frame your father. But now that it happened, why are we not letting him take the heat? He will never be convicted. Letting everyone think he is guilty is the only way to keep nikki safe.

Nick: Okay, so you are just worried about my mom.

Phyllis: I am worried about our family. Summer, faith, christian should not see their grandmother rot in prison. Come on, you know that victor loves playing the noble protector. Let him take the fall.

Nick: So if he's not acquitted, then "oh, well."

Phyllis: You know what, i told you -- I did not frame him. And I need you to trust me on this. But you don'T. I mean, you really do not.

Nick: There's just been too many lies, phyllis, and not just to me, but to mom and victoria.

Phyllis: What are you talking about? Nikki and victoria have also lied. They've lied to you, they lied to the cops, they lied to every single person that I've lied to, and yet, I'm the villain. How about you tell me why you cut them the slack that you refuse to cut me?

Cane: You know, I racked my brain to try and understand how I could have hurt lily like this again. You know, I want to -- I want to do what is right, you know? And... you know, every night, I tell sam how much she misses him and how much she loves him and just how lucky he is to have her in his life. And, you know, with the twins, i mean, they're coping, but things come up, and when they do, we deal with is as a family because, you know, like, I say to myself in times like these, "what would lily do?" You know? Because she's my guidepost. But when she's not with me, i just... it's like I make these mistakes, you know, like with victoria, and I self-sabotage, you know? I prove to myself that I don't deserve her, and I don'T. Because she's in there, and I'm out here, and I -- I cracked. Because when she's not with me, I'm not the man that I want to be.

Kerry: Well, this is a new side of you.

Jack: What, expecting the courtesy of an honest explanation?

Kerry: Setting a trap for me to walk into.

Jack: What is going on here? Why aren't you giving me a straight answer? If you don't want to see me, for whatever reason, just be mature enough to tell me directly. I'm a big boy, it won't crush me.

Kerry: What is it you think? What, that I'm hiding another man?

Jack: I don't know, are you?

Kerry: I am an adult, jack. If I wanted to see another man, I would see him without sneaking around.

Jack: Then where were you yesterday? And why didn't you want me to know?

Arturo: So, I finally get home. It's like 1:00, 2:00 in the morning, pitch-black, and here i am thinking that I finally pulled one over on him, and then he just swooped in and put me in a headlock and made me promise to never be late again.

[ Laughter ]

Rey: And you were always late.

Arturo: This is true. Uh, mia, what can I say that rey already hasn't? You two truly have something special. I mean, look how it made me act, busting in your renewal, making me want that same forever for myself. Thank you, for always setting the example for me, brother. Even when I was too dumb to get it. I'm smarter now, and you were right all along. I just hope in a not-too-distant future, you're the one on the hot seat trying to come up with a toast when you're the best man at my wedding.

[ Laughter ] Cheers to rey and mia.

Arturo: Salud.

Mia: Mm.

Lola: Now it's arturo's turn. He was so sure it was never going to happen. I mean, I am serious. He was about constructions and trucks and about being single.

Kyle: Love takes time. Like anything good, it's worth the wait.

Lola: You're very right, and when I am done waiting personally, I will let you know.

Mia: That was so sweet, the way you couldn't hold back during my ceremony.

Arturo: I'm sorry, mia. I didn't mean to overstep.

Mia: Oh, no, no. The timing was perfect. I mean, of course you had to do it right when rey and I were pledging our eternal love for each other. Abby may think it's all about her, but you and I both know better.

Jack: We need privacy for this, huh?

Kerry: [ Scoffs ] I happen to think everyone is entitled to privacy, for whatever reason. But you asked me a question, and I am happy to answer. I was in traffic court.

Jack: Come again?

Kerry: And not just for an unpaid parking meter. I have a glove compartment full of tickets -- wrong side of the street, no parking after 8:00 pm, permit-only... I keep telling myself, "kerry, write the damn check," but then...I don't know, I'd discover a new compound or we have to tweak a fragrance...

Jack: You were in traffic court, and you thought somehow i would think less of you.

Kerry: Just now, you told me to be mature enough to tell the truth. Well, I am mature, jack. I've been taking care of myself for a very long time. I pride myself on my competence. My work requires intense precision. And yet, I've got this annoying glitch, this weakness. And I admit it, I didn't want you to know.

Jack: [ Chuckles ] I have to admit, I'm a little relieved that you're not perfect.

Kerry: [ Scoffs ]

Jack: You could have told me.

Kerry: Jack... I like you. So much. You know that by now. And I think we're doing a really good job of getting to know each other. So, please, don't take some canceled date or miscommunication as a sign that I'm not interested because I am. Very.

Jack: So am I. Very.

Kerry: Good to know. Now, I have a ton of work to do and a frozen yogurt that's turning into a puddle as we speak, so...

Jack: Well, I'll, uh -- I'll let you get to that. See you soon?

Kerry: I think you will.

Neil: So, we appreciate you being upfront about what's going on in your head.

Cane: Will you then help me? Will you please help me? Just -- just get lily to talk to me, please.

Neil: No. Not gonna happen.

Cane: [ Sighs ]

Neil: You have some work to do on your own. Whatever demons you got to deal with, you better deal with them.

Devon: She can't help you with those, man. She's got too much going on for herself.

Neil: And when lily's ready, you'll know. Until then, you're on your own. Sink or swim, man, it's up to you.

Cane: What about mattie and charlie? I mean, they don't know about victoria. Is lily gonna tell them?

Neil: I don't know. But she's their mother. It's up to her. She may be locked up, but she gets to call the shots now with her kids and with her marriage.

Rey: Thank you for coming. It means a lot. I know it's not, uh... I just -- I really appreciate it.

Sharon: You're my friend, rey. Your happiness means everything to me.

Rey: Even though, for a second there...

Sharon: For a second, you're right, I might have pictured something other than friendship. But that wasn't an option. Not really. I wish you the best of everything.

Arturo: I'm not doing this with you, mia.

Mia: Why not? We're all family here, and i thought I was very gracious, not shoving you out the door when you tried to outshine me on my special day.

Arturo: You and rey are happy and in love. You just said you wanted everyone to know it. So why do you still care what i do now?

Mia: Because I care about you, arturo. You are part of my heart. You're part of my family. She's not the one you want. And you'll try so hard, and then you'll realize she's not the one you love. Because I know. It's not the way I know you can love.

Arturo: Enjoy your night, mia, because I plan to enjoy celebrating my engagement to abby.

Abby: Hi.

Nick: Do I like it that mom and vick kept this secret from me? No. But I was really hoping that you and I could be honest with each other this time.

Phyllis: Like when you didn't tell me that nikki confessed to you?

Nick: I was just protecting my mom.

Phyllis: So was I.

Nick: Look, I hated it that i had to lie to you.

Phyllis: But you did it anyway. And that's okay for you, but i should have just fallen apart and spilled. No. But the motives are different, right? I mean, you're the hero, and I'm the woman that can't be trusted.

Nick: Look, mom was a wreck, vick was traumatized. With you, lying is just so easy.

Phyllis: Wait a minute, is that the issue here? That I gave an epic performance? I didn't lose my mind. I didn't cry. I didn't quiver. I kept a secret that all of us agreed to keep. The problem is, I know how to keep my mouth shut.

Nick: You are helping me raise christian.

Phyllis: No, this isn't good, nick. You should stop.

[ Sighs ] If you think that because I am so tough that you can talk to me that way, you can'T. I was the protector this time. I was the person that stood between your mother and a prison cell. And it worked. I made it happen because I am such a damn-good liar. And if I would have been better, if I would have been nicer and more honest, what, the truth would have come out. But just because I am lying as much as the rest of them, somehow, I am an evil and heartless woman.

Nick: No. No, no. That is not what I'm saying.

Phyllis: Oh, no, I am. I am helping you raise christian, but -- oh, no -- i might be tainted. And since this is a concern for you, I'm gonna give you a heads up. You almost let another heartless woman raise your son.

Nick: What are you talking about?

Phyllis: Isn't it funny that you haven't once asked what sharon was doing while everything was going down when you knew she was there that night. Why would all of the drama be escaped by her? It wasn'T. She was there. She was there when J.T. Died, she was there when we digged the grave, and she's been lying as much as the rest of us. And when she put on that little performance at your wedding, accusing you of all your lies and all of your deceit, that little saintly dishrag had a secret of her own.

Mia: What am I ruining, arturo? You got the girl.

Sharon: What are you gonna do with it?

Nick: I want to hear what you have to say first, and then we will decide what we're gonna do next.

Victor: Someone broke in. My granddaughter's missing, and I want you to find her A.S.A.P.
