Nikki: Victor didn't have to go through it at all. The thought of him being locked away for even a minute for a crime he didn't commit --

Victoria: I know. I hate the situation as much as you do. You know that.

Nikki: I'd like the necessary forms to sign to check myself out of here.

Reed: I need to know what happened to him. I can't just let him disappear off the face of the planet like nobody cared.

Billy: I want to show you every day that I can be good for you, and worthy of being a part of your life.

Victoria: For now, we need to go slow. Very slow.

Arturo: How 'bout you finally stop telling me what to do, huh?

Mia: Enough, you two! You're the reason I had an affair with arturo. I cannot imagine being happier than I am right at this moment.

Mia: You see this article? It's about you.

Rey: Oh.

Mia: Makes you out to be a real hero. Talks about you tracking down victor newman and solving J.T. Hellstrom's murder.

[ Sighs ]

Rey: Just doing my job.

Rey: I am not in it for the fame, mia.

Victor: It's my fault, you know, that my plan to leave the country failed.

Nikki: But coming back cost you your freedom.

Victor: Sweetheart, I'm gonna free myself of these ridiculous charges, okay? I'm gonna do it from within here.

Nikki: You wouldn't even be here if it weren't for me.

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Victor: [ Sighs ] You look a little weak, you know.

Nikki: Yeah, I am a little tired.

Victor: But what was nate thinking, releasing you from the hospital?

Nikki: He didn'T. I checked myself out.

Victor: Why would you do that?

Nikki: Because... there's something...

Victor: What?

Nikki: I did... something terrible, and I-I want you to know about it.

Victor: Well, it can wait, can't it?

Nikki: No, it can'T.

[ Sighs ] It's a terrible thing, and you have to know.

Victor: Well, then, tell me.

Nikki: This -- this whole mess, it's -- it's all my fault.

Billy: Yeah, should've known the old hat trick wasn't gonna work.

Victoria: Billy --

Billy: No, it's -- it's fine. Got your message, loud and clear.

Victoria: I don't think you did.

Billy: Come on, vick. Everybody knows that saying you want to take it slow is just code for saying that you actually don't want a relationship at all.

Victoria: I don't do code.

Billy: Then what are you saying? You do want to give it a chance?

Victoria: There you go again, rushing.

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: You come in here, and you give this passionate speech about our trip to jamaica and how we first fell in love, and... I can't help it. I'm feeling --

Billy: Turned on? Tempted? Nauseous?

Victoria: I'm feeling confused, and you're making me really dizzy right now.

Billy: Well, you used to like that.

Victoria: Ugh! If we're gonna do this again, then things have to be different.

Billy: Why? Things were great. Before I screwed it up.

Victoria: Yes, we had a lot of fun. We had some wild and crazy and amazing times that I never imagined myself having. You taught me how to let go. And to not take myself so seriously. And even though I was completely out of my comfort zone, I felt grounded. But I don't feel that now.

Billy: And is that because of what happened with J.T.?

Victoria: You have no idea how much that's still affecting me.

Billy: I don't want to make things worse. So, if you want to take things slow, then... then let's do that.

Victoria: Thank you.

Billy: Because slow can still be good.

Victoria: [ Exhales softly ] Seriously. If that's what you want to do, we'll do that.

Victoria: Thank you.

Reed: Guess you moved on from dad.

Sharon: I just need to finish this text to arturo.

Mariah: You mean the brother of the guy who's investigating J.T.'S murder?

Sharon: Well, he happens to be good with a wrench, and i need someone to make a repair.

Mariah: Very weird that you would choose him, of all people, but okay.

Sharon: There. You know what's weird? I go out of town for two days, and when I come home, victor's behind bars for a murder that we know he didn't commit.

Mariah: No, no, no. I have no sympathy for victor.

Sharon: Well, victor may be a lot of things, but --

Mariah: A kidnapper, liar, all-around evil person?

Sharon: He's not a murderer.

Mariah: Can't we just say that this is karmic payback for all of those things and call it a day?

Sharon: No. Something needs to be done to stop this.

Mariah: I know I'm going to regret asking this, but what are you gonna do about it?

Victoria: A good start might be going back to school. Winter break's over.

Reed: So I can do what? Pretend like my grandfather's not about to go on trial for murdering my dad?

Reed: Even if he didn't, going back to school and pretending like everything's okay is not gonna help me deal with all the crap in my life.

Victoria: Reed!

Billy: [ Sighs ] I'll go talk to him.

Victoria: No. No!

Billy: Okay.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] There's more going on here than you know.

Billy: You want to tell me about it?

Sharon: You know what the worst part of this is?

Mariah: All of it?

Sharon: [ Sighs ] That you have been dragged into this nightmre. Do you know that you could go to jail for keeping my secret?

Mariah: Only if someone finds out.

Sharon: Yesterday on the "gc buzz," you had to lie while making a live report.

Mariah: Mnh-mnh-mnh. No, no, no. I did not lie. I said that victor had been arrested and charged with J.T.'S murder, which is true.

Sharon: Well, it couldn't have been easy, abby laying into you.

Mariah: I can handle abby. Why don't you put your energy into something constructive?

Sharon: You're right. I should be trying to figure out a way to help victor.

Mariah: That's not what I meant.

Sharon: I can't let him take the blame for a murder I know he didn't commit.

Mariah: How can they convict victor of J.T.'S murder when they can't even prove that J.T. Is dead? Look, if this does go to trial, then victor can hire the best defense attorneys that money can buy.

Sharon: And what if that's not enough?

Mariah: Not your problem.

Sharon: I know the truth. I'm right there, sitting in the police station next to rey every day. There's got to be something i can do or say to help victor.

Mariah: Sharon, rey is a smart guy. If you keep trying to convince him that victor is not guilty, eventually he is gonna figure out that you know more than you're letting on. And he's not gonna stop until he finds out what. Trust me, that is not a road that you want to go down.

Sharon: You're right. Rey is very smart.

Mariah: You need to be smarter.

Sharon: I will be.

Nikki: No one was trying to hurt me when I got hit. It -- it was an accident. And it was my fault.

Victor: How can you say that?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Because of my drinking, I stepped off that curb without looking, and... I'm sure whoever hit me didn't even know I was there.

Victor: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: So, if you want to blame someone, blame me.

Victor: No, my baby. I blame myself. For not being there when you decided to start drinking again.

Nikki: I have to take responsibility for what I did.

Victor: You still haven't told me why you started drinking again. Does it have to do with what happened to J.T.?

Mia: You've got a lot of nerve, thinking you can barge into our apartment like that.

Arturo: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not "barging" when you use a key.

Mia: You still haven't said where you got it from. I know it wasn't from rey, and I sure as heck didn't give it to you, and I don't --

Arturo: Well, if you'd stop talking and listen, I'd tell you. Sharon did. She said you guys were having problems with your thermostat, and asked me to come take a look at it.

Mia: Since when do you do furnaces?

Arturo: Well, before I became a contractor, I used to do appliance repair. And her regular hvac guy wasn't available, so...

Mia: So you offered to do poor sharon a favor. Man, she's got you rosales brothers wrapped around her little finger.

Arturo: I offered to pitch in because I didn't want my brother and his wife to freeze their tails off.

Mia: How come I didn't know about this before?

Arturo: Well, maybe you and your husband got to work on your communication skills. You know, since he is the one who set this up with sharon.

Mia: Rey and I communicate just fine.

Arturo: So why didn't he tell you that sharon set it up for someone to be here today?

Mia: I probably forgot.

Arturo: Right.

Mia: Ok, you know what? I have to get going. I am meeting a client. So you're just gonna have to come back later.

Arturo: Oh, no. No, you see, I actually have a full-time job I have to get to. And I only have a few hours to get this done. So if you need to leave, feel free. I'm fine on my own.

Mia: [ Laughs ] You're crazy if you think you're gonna be in my home alone.

Arturo: [ Sighs ] Like there's anything here I want. Seriously.

Mia: [ Huffs ] If you're staying, I'm staying.

Arturo: Suit yourself.

Rey: If you can get mrs. Chen to sit down with the sketch artist, we might be able to find the guy who shot her husband.

Sharon: Oh, how is he?

Rey: He's still critical. Once you talk to his wife, you might want to refer her to psych services.

Sharon: Yeah, she's going to need some help dealing with the trauma.

Rey: [ Inhales ] All right, that about covers it.

[ Sighs ]

Sharon: Yep. Better get back to work. Lots to do.

Rey: Yeah. Sure. You really not gonna say anything?

Sharon: About what?

Rey: [ Chuckles ] I know you were out of town, but victor newman's arrest was big news all over the country.

Sharon: Yeah, I heard about it.

Rey: Not even a "congratulations"?

Sharon: Oh, I'm sorry. My mind is -- I just have so much to do, and I'm trying to figure out when to see the kids, and...

Rey: Don't you at least want the details?

Sharon: Sure.

Rey: Well... I stopped his private jet on the runway. He almost got away. But after months of tracking the guy, I finally nailed him.

Sharon: Wow. That's great.

Rey: I got more enthusiasm from my brother when he found out I moved into town.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] No, I'm -- I'm happy for you. I-I just --

Rey: What? What is going on with you?

Sharon: I can't help wondering... are you sure you got the right man?

Victor: I don't mean to upset you, my baby. We don't have to talk about J.T. Hellstrom.

Nikki: No, no. I-it's a fair question. The truth is... yes, J.T. Is the reason why i started drinking again.

Victor: [ Inhales deeply ]

[ Sighs ] That S.O.B. Has done a lot of damage to our family. Was it his bloody shirt and the gun that you found in the stables after the fire that drove you to drink again?

Nikki: No, it -- it goes back much further than that. I don't think I'll ever get the image of him hurting victoria out of my mind.

Victor: Oh. [ Sighs ] He's a lucky man that I wasn't there when he laid hands on her, I can tell you that.

Nikki: No, victor.

Victor: Well...

Nikki: The other thing i can't get out of my mind is him trying to kill you. First at our home, then in the hospital. When I think about how close i came to losing you --

Victor: Sweetheart, don't think about it. I'm fine. I'm here. Okay?

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Victor: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: Yes, but...

[ Sighs ] I'll never forget how helpless I felt. It's the same way I felt when that rey rosales was pushing me about J.T.'S murder, and asking me over and over about you...

Victor: That bastard.

Nikki: ...Where you were, and... I told him I didn't know, but he wouldn't let up.

Victor: How the hell dare he? Probably his interrogation of you, and then my not being there, is what drove you to drink.

Nikki: Victor, don'T.

Victor: I have a lot to make up for, my baby.

Nikki: No, you don'T. This is not your fault.

Victor: Sometimes I think, what would have happened if you hadn't survived the accident? To be honest with you, I don't know what I would do without you.

Nikki: Victor, you brought me back.

Victor: You know...

[ Sighs ] The first time I laid eyes on you... I knew that I would protect you. I always knew that.

Nikki: I feel exactly the same way. That's why I will do everything I can to get you out of here.

Victor: You leave that to me.

Nikki: I don'T... know if I can. It was here.

Billy: Wow. That must be tough for reed.

Victoria: I think it was a relief. For him and for charlie. They felt so bad about what happened, especially reed.

Billy: What about nikki?

Victoria: She understood why the boys didn't come forward. She felt horrible for them. She blames the accident on herself.

Billy: So, now what?

Victoria: Mom has made it very clear that she doesn't want the police involved. She doesn't want reed and charlie being punished for something that wasn't their fault.

Billy: Well, detective rosales doesn't seem like the kind of guy that's gonna let things drop.

Victoria: Well, if mom can't give them any information about the accident, then he'll have no choice.

Billy: Lying to the cops is always risky. I hope reed appreciates what his grandmother's doing for him.

Victoria: Don't worry. Cane and I are gonna make sure that the boys face consequences.

Billy: [ Snorts quietly ]

[ Sighs ] I'm actually a bigger jerk than usual today.

Victoria: Why?

Billy: With everything that you've got going on, the last thing that you need is me pressuring you to get back together.

Victoria: [ Scoffs ]

[ Chuckles ] I'm fine. Really.

Billy: Hey.

[ Clears throat ]

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Look, it's a lot to handle, okay? And it's okay to admit it.

Victoria: No, I know it's a lot to handle.

[ Sighs ] But I'll be fine. I'm just gonna take it one thing at a time, starting with reed.

Billy: You want me to leave?

Victoria: No, I don'T.

Billy: Then I'll stay.

[ Sighs ] I'm here, vick. I'm gonna help you get through all of this.

Arturo: What's all that?

Mia: For my client. Change in plans. They're coming over here. That way I can do some work and keep an eye on you.

Arturo: What do you think I'm gonna do, steal your jewelry?

Mia: Not your style. But I would be worried about the tv not being here when I got back.

Arturo: [ Scoffs ] Mine is busted.

Mia: Hmm. Just like last time.

Arturo: You loaned me your tv.

Mia: Which means you're supposed to give it back.

Arturo: I did.

Mia: Two years later!

Arturo: Well, you never said how long I could keep it.

Mia: See? This? That attitude right there, that's why I'm staying.

Arturo: I really don't get what the big deal is. You got your tv back.

Mia: After I bought a new one.

Arturo: I should have kept it.

Mia: Fix the thermostat.

Arturo: [ Sighs ]

Mia: [ Sighs ]

Arturo: Read that article about rey. You must be proud.

Mia: I am. Just before you got here, I was telling him how special I think he is.

Arturo: Bet he left to work happy.

Mia: He did.

Arturo: [ Sighs ]

Mia: Want some coffee?

Arturo: Uh [Sighs] Sure. Sure. I'm kind of stuck. I need a minute to think. So you and rey are in a good place, huh?

Mia: We've... been able to work through our problems.

Arturo: I've heard that before.

Mia: Uh, well, this time, it's for real. We're both happy.

Arturo: Well, I'm glad.

Mia: Are you?

Arturo: Of course. You deserve to be happy.

Mia: So do you.

Arturo: I am.

Mia: With abby?

Arturo: Yeah. [ Sighs ] Yeah. She's special. You know, like rey.

Mia: Mm.

Arturo: Maybe the four of us could all go on a special double date sometime.

Mia: [ Scoffs ] Long as she's buying. Lord knows, she can afford it.

Arturo: There is a lot more to our relationship than that.

Mia: Well, I'm not knocking it. I'm just --

Arturo: You know, I think what abby and I have is based on us being straightforward and honest with each other. No drama whatsoever.

Mia: Sounds boring. But if that's what you're into...

Arturo: I am.

Mia: Then... to both of us getting what we want.

Sharon: What is that?

Rey: The case I've built against victor. I spent months on it. It's solid.

Sharon: Look, I know that you're a good cop.

Rey: Yet you still doubt me on this?

Sharon: It was just a question.

Rey: I know why you're questioning me about victor. You think you know him better than I do.

Sharon: I've known him most of my life.

Rey: Then you're aware of the despicable things that he's done. But you still don't think he'd go as far as murdering J.T. Hellstrom?

Sharon: No, I don'T.

Rey: Why are you defending him?

Sharon: When I first met you, you and arturo could barely stand to be in the same room together. You might even say& you hated each other. So if something had happened to your brother back then, would it be fair to assume that you did it?

Rey: That is not even close to what's happening with victor newman.

Sharon: Why not?

Rey: Because it doesn't make sense. Neither does you constantly sticking up for the newmans. You had the same reaction when i went investigating victoria. It's like -- it's like you don't want me to solve this case, sharon.

Mariah: That's ridiculous. Sharon was just telling me earlier that she can't wait for this J.T. Mess to be over with.

Reed: And say what? "Hey, your grandpa's been arrested for killing your dad, and you almost killed your grandma, but everything's cool"?

Billy: Well, I could say, "life sucks, so what's the point?" But that's not gonna help, either, is it?

Reed: What words of wisdom do you have for me, then?

Billy: Me? Wisdom? Oh, that's -- that's actually funny. I'm probably the most unwise person you know. But I am willing to let you benefit from my experience.

Reed: All right. Go for it.

Billy: I've used all these tactics to try and run away from my problems. The sulking, the snarky sarcasm, and the running away. None of them work. But you know that, because you tried running away after what happened with your grandmother. But then you came back, and you faced it. Now, I'm assuming that you feel better about that right now.

Reed: I guess.

Billy: Okay. So, why don't you stop running away from all the other problems that you have in life?

Reed: How am i supposed to do that?

Victoria: You could start by believing in your grandfather.

Reed: Do you really think he's innocent?

Victoria: I know he is.

Reed: Then why did the cops arrest him?

Victoria: The police make mistakes sometimes. I mean, look at your uncle nick. Just recently, he was connected to your dad's disappearance.

Reed: Even if grandpa is innocent, that doesn't bring my dad back.

Victoria: No, it doesn'T. Nothing will.

[ Sighs ]

Reed: That's just it, you know? He may have done some horrible things in his life, but -- but he was my dad. And he was a good dad. Now that he's gone, I'm never gonna get the chance to say goodbye. I need to do that.

Victor: I want you to go home and rest now.

Nikki: I am not leaving. Not when I know christine is doing everything in her power to send you to prison.

Victor: Well, that's gonna be pretty difficult for her without a body.

Nikki: She is twisting evidence, trying to create a motive to build a circumstantial case against you, and we have to figure out a way to stop her.

Victor: Is that why you don't want to leave? You want to help me build a defense?

Nikki: Well, what other reason would there be?

Victor: [ Sighs ] There's a rather obvious one.

Nikki: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Victor: You know how I feel about J.T. Hellstrom, don't you? Has it ever crossed your mind that what christine williams and that detective accuse me of might be true? You never asked me.

Nikki: Well, no. O-of course I wouldn'T.

Victor: Why are you so certain that I'm innocent?

Arturo: What?

Mia: I just wanted to say thank you.

Arturo: I'm not even done fixing the thermostat yet.

Mia: I meant for talking to me. I'm just...happy we can be friends again.

Arturo: Me too.

Mia: It's crazy how far we've come. You know, when I first got to town, you barely spoke to me, and now you're opening up about your relationship with abby.

Arturo: Yeah, well, it is 'cause of you things are going so well with her.

Mia: Did I give you a makeover I don't know about?

Arturo: Yeah. Yeah, you kind of did. You know, I screwed up so bad with you. I was... I mean -- I mean, I made so many mistakes. I was not the man I wanted to be.

Mia: We were young, okay? Neither of us knew what it meant to be in a relationship.

Arturo: Yeah. My skills were badly lacking back then.

Mia: Ooh. Strongly disagree.

Arturo: [ Chuckles ] My communication skills.

Mia: Now, that's true. I mean, you could have told me you didn't like rom-coms instead of arguing me for three hours over what movie to watch.

Arturo: Well, I've grown up a lot since then. You know, now I let abby pick the movies.

Mia: Mm.

Arturo: Yeah. And no more jealous rages when she talks to a random co-worker.

Mia: Now I'm impressed, okay? 'Cause that used to be your specialty back then. Your fiery temper.

Arturo: Your aim was pretty good with a plate.

Mia: Oh, we had some heated arguments.

Arturo: Things got intense when we fought, yeah.

Mia: But we made up just as passionately.

Arturo: Can't argue that. I should get back.

Mia: Oh, yeah. Um... don't let me get in your way.

Arturo: Yeah.

[ Clears throat ]

Rey: You never told me what brings you down to the station.

Mariah: I was just wondering if there was any new information on victor's arrest.

Rey: Hmm. Victor's on everybody's radar today.

Mariah: Yep. It's big news.

Rey: Some think it's fake news.

Sharon: I never said that.

Rey: But you do.

[ Telephone rings ] Rosales.

Mariah: I thought I told you not to bring up victor's arrest around rey.

Sharon: I didn't bring it up. He did.

Mariah: Then un-bring it up.

Sharon: I can handle rey.

Mariah: Oh, really? Like you were when I walked in?

Sharon: That's what you're doing here, isn't it?

Mariah: Yeah. You're welcome.

Rey: Sorry about that.

[ Sighs ]

Sharon: Oh, that's okay. Mariah was just leaving.

Mariah: Yes, I was. Um... but before I go, I was just wondering if everything was status quo with victor's arrest?

Rey: Any reason it wouldn't be?

Mariah: No. Not one that I can think of. So, I will, uh, see you guys later. Thanks.

Rey: You read this, then you tell me I'm wrong about victor.

Sharon: It's just that I'm worried about nikki. She's still recovering from her accident, and it feels cruel to hold victor without bail.

Rey: Look, it's not my decision. Christine convinced the judge that he's a flight risk.

Sharon: But it's a choice that you're happy with, even if it wasn't yours.

Rey: Look [Scoffs] I know that you are close to the newmans, but it's our job to keep a professional distance.

Sharon: It's just hard sometimes.

Rey: I'm getting that today.

Sharon: Okay, I'm just gonna come out and say it.

Rey: Please.

Sharon: I'm worried about you.

Rey: Uh, me?

Sharon: Victor is not the kind of man who forgives or forgets, and if he's cleared...

Rey: God, that is the last thing that I am worried about.

Sharon: ...You'll have made an enemy for life, rey.

Rey: Well, then, he's gonna have to hate me behind bars, because this case is gonna end in a conviction. That, I'm sure of.

Nikki: I don't know how you can ask me a question like that.

Victor: That's all right.

[ Sighs ] I know the answer.

Nikki: You do?

Victor: [ Sighs ] You love me. And I love you. And you have unwavering faith in what I do. As I do have unwavering faith in what you do. That is what is going to get me through this. I know that, no matter what, you're on my side.

Nikki: Everything you say is true. I love you. I believe in you. You can always count on that. But... that's not the only reason I believe in your innocence.

Victor: Come here. Nothing else matters.

Nikki: Yes, it does.

Victor: No, no.

Nikki: I have no doubt that you didn't kill J.T. Because... I know...who did.

Arturo: [ Sighs ] The heater's back on for now.

Mia: I can feel the difference.

Arturo: [ Sighs ] Um, I'm not sure it'll hold, but I tried.

Arturo: It might be more serious than just adjusting the thermostat, so you might want to look into a more permanent fix to the furnace.

Arturo: I'm glad everything's in working order.

Rey: Sharon, wait. I... I appreciate you worrying about me, but I can't help but thinking that there's something else going on with you.

Sharon: You don't know what victor's capable of.

Rey: Yeah, I do. That's why I arrested him.

Sharon: No, that's not what I meant.

Rey: You said before that you thought I was a good cop.

Sharon: I do.

Rey: Then you'd know that I would never want an innocent man to go down for something he didn't do.

Sharon: I have to get to my appointment.

Reed: You know, that's it. That's -- that's exactly what I need. I've never thought about it before.

Victoria: Honey, I'm not sure what you're saying.

Reed: Saying goodbye. I mean, I never got a chance to do that with -- with the whole way that dad disappeared from my life -- here one day and then gone the next. I was so mad at him, but I-i just kept thinking that he was gonna come back, and we'd be able to work everything out. And then the cops found his dna in the watch, and -- bam! Just like that, he was dead. It was all one long, bad dream, with no beginning and no end. I need it to be over.

Victoria: How?

Reed: I-I don't know. Maybe...a memorial or a ceremony?

Billy: Yeah, I think that could be good. You know, it could be healing. A god way to move on.

Reed: Yeah.

Billy: We could do it here.

[ Sighs ]

Reed: That could be cool.

Billy: What do you say, vick?

Victoria: Sure. Absolutely. If that's what you want, then we'll do it.

Victor: I know you want to help me. But this is not the way to do it.

Nikki: Victor, I'm telling you the truth. I know who killed J.T.

Victor: [ Shushing ] Don't you ever repeat those words again. To no one. Keeping you safe is all that matters to me now. Once I've cleared those ridiculous charges against me, I will take care of everything else. You trust me.

Nikki: I do, but -- but --

Victor: No, sweetheart. No. Don't ever talk about this again.
