Episode #11523 ~ Victor and Nick make a pact; Reed comes clean; Jill returns home.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Victoria: Reed was driving the car that hit my mother. Charlie ashby had been drinking. He wanted to drive, but he couldn't, so reed drove for him, and they didn't say anything until now.
Devon: Yeah, but you been dealing with a lot, man. Your wife just spent the holidays behind bars.
Cane: Yeah. The thing is when I go and see her, it's like she's not the same person anymore. She just looks at me like i don't get it. I'm not living the same life she is. I don't see what she sees.
Victoria: It was a lot -- a lot of stress and a lot of pressure -- and, at some point, it was bound to explode, which it did. And I reacted by doing something stupid, reckless, and impulsive.
Rey: You do understand you have the right to an attorney?
Victor: Not the first time I've been arrested, you know.
Christine: So, you came out of a coma and immediately formulated a plan to leave the country?
Nikki: I begged victor to do this for me.
Victoria: I think her color seems to be improved, and her energy level's up.
Nick: Yeah. She looks better than she should.
Nikki: I'm right here, guys. I feel better because I know that your father is safe and sound.
Victoria: Nick and I know the feeling. Can you imagine us rushing in here to find your bed empty?
Nikki: [ Sighs ] I'm so sorry I put you through that.
Nick: It was dad's idea to yank you out of the hospital.
Nikki: He kept it secret so that neither of you could be found liable by the police.
Nick: And we couldn't do anything to stop him.
Victoria: I mean, can you blame us? Taking you off to god knows where -- it was just way too risky.
Nikki: Well, nate came to take care of me, and I hope that he won't wind up being the scapegoat in this whole thing. I need to call him.
Nick: No, mom. Mom, take it easy, okay? You already told christine that it was your idea to leave the hospital, so she's not pressing charges against nate or me.
Victoria: Or dad.
Nikki: Oh! Thank goodness. So, where is your father? What? What is it? Tell me.
Victoria: Mom... dad has been arrested for J.T.'S murder.
Jill: I wanted to surprise you, so I stopped by the office on my way back from the airport, and they told me that you weren't in this week.
Cane: Yeah. Well, there's fewer interruptions here, and i kind of have to tend to the pile-up from the christmas break.
Jill: Oh, sweetie, the holidays must have been a kick in the teeth without lily, huh?
Cane: Yeah, they were. Anyway, what -- what did you guys -- where did you guys spend the holiday season? Let me guess -- bondi? No, noosa?
Jill: Actually, both. Colin stayed with people on the sunshine coast, and I stayed in sydney.
Cane: Okay.
Jill: Yeah. We're taking a break from marriage.
Cane: [ Sighs heavily] I can't believe he was that stupid to let you go.
Jill: [ Chuckles ] That's very sweet of you to say -- about me, anyway -- but it wasn't like that. It's really nobody's fault. You know, colin is the same guy I married. He's handsome and witty and fun-loving, and, oh, my god, he's charming as hell. But he can be very infuriating at times. And I'm coming in to the next phase of my life, and the next man I'm gonna be with is... well, will be reliable, rock-solid, somebody I can lean on emotionally, you know?
Cane: Which isn't exactly my dad's wheelhouse.
Jill: [ Chuckles ] Darling, I know. I'm the one who paid for his boat. When it comes to picking mr. Right, though, not everybody can be as fortunate as lily. She got the full package with you. What? What is it?
Cane: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe I'm just more like my dad than I care to admit.
Jill: [ Laughing ] Oh, my god. I love you, cane. But that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard you say.
Reed: Mom's at the hospital. Johnny and katie are skating with hannah. Um, you can hang out, but I'm gonna go for a run.
Billy: Before you take off, you got a second to talk?
Reed: About what?
Billy: G.C.'S latest news.
Reed: Grandpa getting arrested for the murder of my dad?
Billy: Yeah.
Reed: Well, my grandma kept repeating over and over that he was innocent. Obviously, they found some serious dirt to charge his highness, victor newman.
Billy: Well, we don't know if that's true yet.
Reed: You're starting to sound like my mom.
Billy: Is that why you're avoiding her? You don't want to listen to her defend victor?
Reed: Look, I get that she's loyal to her dad. Can't I be that way with mine? I need to know what happened to him. I can't just let him disappear off the face of the planet like nobody cared. And I'm not going to accept that grandpa can't be guilty, no matter how much mom and grandma wish it were true.
Billy: Do you think he's guilty?
Reed: I don't know. I hope he's not. But him staying out of the country, dodging the police -- I mean, this looks really bad. Wouldn't have come back at all except --
Billy: Except you brought him out of hiding.
Reed: Me?
Billy: He came back because of nikki's hit-and-run accident. And you're the one that hit her... and ran.
Nikki: I want to speak to rey rosales.
Victoria: Mom, I really don't think that's wise.
Nikki: He arrested your father with no evidence.
Nick: Well, except for what they found at the ranch in the stables.
Nikki: Which was obviously planted, son! Somebody started that fire to lead the police to those phony clues. I don't know why rosales is harassing your father when he could be out looking for the real arsonist or the person who hit me and left me by the side of the road to die. I mean, we know that your father is innocent, and we're gonna do nothing?
Nick: No. I'm gonna go see dad and do whatever I can.
Nikki: Even with the way you feel about him?
Nick: It's the way I feel about you. That's what's important. I will help dad if you promise me you will stay calm and just get well.
Nikki: I promise. Keep me updated, okay?
Nick: Will do. I love you.
Nikki: I love you. Sweetheart, go. Go with your brother, please.
Victoria: No, mom. I want to stay and talk to you about something.
Nikki: What could be more urgent than this? Nothing.
Victoria: I think that nick's offer to help dad is very sincere.
Nikki: And, yes, it could lead them to a new beginning. But knowing the strain that your father is under and the bad blood between him and nicholas, I mean, it could turn in to a battle of egos and tempers, and that is why it's important that you be there. All right? Whatever you want to talk to me about can wait. (Rooster morning call)

when I get a cold, I need
medicine that works fast.
Jill: You're actually trying to tell me that you think you're a chip off the old colin block? Seriously. What is that about?
Cane: I've been a bit of a disappointment in myself lately. That's all.
Jill: In what way?
Cane: You're nothing without her. You know what they say. I know it's a cliché, but damn if it isn't true. You know, when lily was here, she, uh -- she did so much for this family that I didn't appreciate, and now she's gone. I'm just falling short in so many areas, you know? I mean, the project I told you about -- we're about two months behind on that, and that's cost us millions, and the kids see how stressed out I am, so they don't come to me with their problems until they're in crisis mode. And as far as being a husband goes -- [ Sighs ]
Jill: What about that?
Cane: Lily deserves better. Let's just leave it at that, okay?
Billy: [ Sighs ] When it looked like your grandmother wasn't gonna make it... I didn't know that you thought that you might be responsible. That must have been brutal for you.
Reed: I've never felt so bad about anything in my life.
Billy: I get it. I've been there. It...eats you up from the inside out.
[ Sighs ] When delia died...
Reed: Billy... you didn't kill your daughter. Uncle adam was the one who hit her, and -- and he hit her by accident.
Billy: Yeah, but I was just as guilty. I'm the one that left her in the car with her dog, alone, while i went to go get... ice cream. And no one's ever gonna convince me otherwise. Reed, your grandmother's still alive... so you get to learn from this. You get to...heal... and move on with your life.
Reed: I still feel so bad and so ashamed for -- for what I did to grandma but also my mom. I mean... that's why I can't stand to be around her right now.
Billy: Talk to her about it. The same loyalty she has for your grandfather, she has double for you.
Reed: Maybe we don't deserve it.
Billy: There's nothing that you're ever gonna do that would make your mom turn her back on you. Ever. And as far as your grandfather, let's just wait till all the facts come out... before we start judging, okay?
Reed: That makes sense.
Victoria: Michael's heard nothing. Why would dad not even contact his lawyer?
Nick: Maybe refusing to play the game is a stronger position than playing it and possibly losing.
Victoria: Do you still doubt his innocence?
Nick: After recent evidence, dad looks even more guilty. I told him so myself.
Victoria: Do you know what your suspicions are doing to our dad?
Nick: It's not my job to figure out what happened to J.T. I am here, for mom's sake, to help dad with his legal case. That is all.
[ Door opens ]
Victoria: Dad.
Victor: Hi, sweetheart. I assure you this is nothing but a brief inconvenience.
Nick: Well, if that's the case, then tell us what we can do to get you out of here.
Victor: Since when is that a concern of yours?
The day after chemo might
mean a trip back to
Victoria: You came as soon as you could.
Victor: Yeah. Obviously not fast enough to get your mother out of danger before the cops caught on. But I'm glad I was able to spend some time with her when she needed me.
Victoria: I want you by her side again. Let me call michael.
Victor: That's unnecessary. Christine williams doesn't have enough to convict me. She knows it. So I'm not taking this seriously.
Victoria: What about the effect the arrest is having on newman enterprises?
Victor: We repaired that damage once the charges have been dropped.
Nick: If the charges are dropped. Dad, you got to be realistic.
Victor: The reality, son, is that christine williams has only circumstantial evidence.
Nick: Even if that's the case, christine has won circumstantial cases before. She can easily help the jury connect the dots.
Victor: And what dots are there to connect?
Nick: Dad, you threatened J.T. On live television. They found his bloody shirt on your ranch with your gun. You eluded the police out of the country, on the run for months.
Victor: I was doing business overseas.
Nick: While avoiding questioning and arrest. This is how it looks for you. I'm sorry. It looks bad. We need to find a way to counter the narrative.
Victor: "We"? You mean you and I are on the same team? Is that it? That sounds about as credible as this fictional circumstantial evidence.
Victoria: No. It's true. This is our family pulling together in a time of emergency, just like you raised us to be.
Victor: Our family pulling together? Has your brother told you that he suspects that I may have killed J.T. Hellstrom?
Nick: Just because I asked the question doesn't necessarily mean I believe it.
Victor: It's a fair question, son. The fact that you don't necessarily believe it is really warming my heart. That's what a father likes to hear. Do you share your brother's belief that I'm a murderer?
Victoria: Not one bit.
Victor: Thank you for that. And thank you for looking after your mother and after newman enterprises while I'm away. It means a lot to me. It's a relief to have you around, you know.
Victoria: Yes. You can count on me.
Victor: I know.
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Victor: Okay. Would you mind? Uh, I need to have a word with your brother alone.
Victoria: I'll see you soon.
Victor: Bye.
[ Breathes deeply ] Total honesty.
Nick: What do you want to know?
Victor: Did you kill J.T. Hellstrom? (Vo) for a nasty cold,
Nick: You can't seriously be asking me that.
Victor: Not only is the question serious, it's fair. I mean, you had as much of a motive to get rid of J.T. Hellstrom as anyone after you learned what he had done to your sister. And then... genius... you tried to pin the whole thing on me... your father, whom you despise.
Nick: That's all you got.
Victor: You impersonated J.T. Hellstrom. You hacked into the newman system. Weren't you worried that J.T. Might suddenly come upon you and expose what you were doing? You weren't worried about that, were you... because you already knew he was dead?
Nick: I didn't know where he was.
Victor: You could have planted the bloody shirt and the gun in the stables and then burned the damn thing down. No one would have suspected you.
Nick: But I didn't do that, and you know it, because I would never, ever put mom through that.
Victor: I think you mean that. And for your mother's sake... I want you to make me a promise.
Jill: Come on. You're not telling me anything. There must be something specific you did to let lily down.
Cane: It's multiple things, really.
Jill: Such as?
Cane: I don't know. They seem small. But when you're in prison a couple hundred miles from home, all you really have are the small things, right?
Jill: Like?
Cane: I, uh [Sighs] I only went to visit her once during the kids' christmas break. I missed phone calls, and i haven't really been, you know, very present in the kids' lives.
Jill: Okay. I've heard enough.
Cane: Well, you wanted examples, didn't you?
Jill: Yeah, I've got some examples. If I sat down with lily right this minute and I asked her to rate as a husband and father, all I would hear would be raves. I mean, she knows how fortunate she is to have you here so she has something to come back to after the nightmare is over. Honey, of course you've made mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. But lily's not gonna remember those. Neither are the kids. You know what they'll remember? That you always stepped up and you loved them and you did your absolute best, okay? And, uh, I'm gonna let you in on a little more wisdom. These children of yours, these bright, gorgeous, exceptional children -- they're gonna make mistakes, too. Maybe only a few and maybe a whole hell of a lot. How do you want them to handle those, hmm? Do you want them to beat themselves up over them and just stop trying, or do you want them to learn from their screw-ups and forgive themselves and do better next time?
Cane: Of course choice "B."
Jill: Well, then, you damn well need to set a better example. Got it? I don't hear you.
Cane: I've got it. And now I know exactly what i have to do next.
Victoria: Billy!
Billy: Hey! I'm in the kitchen! I didn't hear you come in.
Victoria: Oh. That's, um -- that's a new look for you.
Billy: Yeah. I'm just, uh, making dinner for you and the kids. It's all done. Just have to plate it.
Victoria: Thank you. I was just upstairs. Reed's not here.
Billy: He went for a jog. He's got a lot of tension to burn off. But I have to say that he's handling it better than I would have expected.
Victoria: I'm not judging him. I understand the pressure that he's under. I just wish he'd talk to me.
Billy: I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I told him to do so.
Victoria: Thank you... and for making this food for us and...for everything that you've done since mom's accident. I don't know how would have survived without you.
Billy: Well, that's debatable.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: To be honest, it's been really nice spending time with you and the kids. That's actually why I wanted to wait around and -- and talk to you. I don't want you to think that there's an ulterior motive for me being here.
Victoria: What? Why would I?
Billy: Well, last night, we... we kissed... and we hugged, and I just don't want you to think that...
Victoria: No.
Billy: ...I was expecting, you know, more.
Victoria: I know. I mean, it kind of took both of us by surprise. Well, we can just forget about it. It's not a big deal.
Billy: Yeah. See, that's the thing -- I don't really want to forget about it, because it kind of feels like something's happening between us. I don't know. Am I nuts? So, I'm not nuts. That's a relief.
Victoria: Before we read too much into this, I think we should be honest. Once again, our timing is just -- it's horrible.
Billy: Hmm. Inconvenient, maybe not ideal, but horrible? That's a little, uh -- little aggressive.
Victoria: You just got out of a very intense relationship, and I am dealing with major, massive crises and relying completely on you to get me through it... so maybe these feelings are just simple...
Billy: No, please continue. I want to hear about these feelings.
Victoria: Well, maybe you should take a look at your own and see what's triggering them. I mean, it's the holidays. We're spending so much time with the family. I know that that can make you feel nostalgic and comforting.
Billy: Okay. This is not about me being on the rebound or needing comfort. I would never use you like that.
Victoria: I know. I know. Not on purpose.
Billy: Not ever.
Victoria: But we also have the kids to consider -- you know, johnny and katie. We wouldn't want to get them confused or get their hopes up prematurely.
Billy: Okay. Yeah. That's a very good point.
Victoria: Right. Yes.
Billy: So, maybe we should just, uh, take some time and... think about it and -- and, uh... get together later, maybe.
Victoria: I think that sounds very reasonable.
Billy: Okay. Well, uh... goodbye... for now.
Victoria: Goodbye.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Cane: Uh, yeah, I probablyrobably should have called first.
Victoria: No, you're fine. The kids are out, so I have a few minutes -- unless this is about the kiss, in which case I really --
Cane: Kiss? Um, what kiss? There...was no kiss.
Victoria: [ Chuckles ]
Cane: [ Chuckles ]
Victoria: Sit down.
Cane: Sure. Um, actually, i came over to talk to you about the hit-and-run, 'cause yesterday when I went home, i spoke to charlie about it, and, uh, he's -- he's gutted.
Victoria: I know. Reed is feeling the same way. He can't even look at me now that I know.
Cane: Yeah. So, you know, I've been thinking that maybe it's best for their peace of mind if they, uh -- if they don't keep it a secret and they -- you know, they confess.
Victoria: That's -- that's a huge decision. I mean, have you really considered the consequences?
Cane: It's just that I feel like the psychological damage of concealing it could be worse.
Victoria: Worse than a felony conviction?
Cane: No, I'm actually talking about going to see nikki and telling her, you know, 'cause she's the victim, and, you know, I think that she has a right to know.
Victoria: I agree. I almost told her myself this morning.
Cane: But you know you shouldn't have to do that because, you know, they're old enough. It's their responsibility, and... you know, they can tell her, and she can impose whatever action she thinks is right.
Victoria: Yes, I agree. Maybe it will help them start to forgive themselves.
Cane: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too, um... you know, 'cause I think it would be good for charlie if -- you know, if he felt like he had a way that he could make it right, you know, and probably would for reed, as well, you know?
[ Door unlocks, opens ]
Victoria: Hey, reed!
Reed: Hi. Mr. Ashby. Wh-what's going on?
Victoria: Go upstairs, shower, and change. We're going to see your grandmother.
Jill: Mm.
Billy: Ah, it's good to see you. I'm sorry to hear about colin.
Jill: Mm.
Billy: It sucks that you had to deal with that over the holidays. Why didn't you call me?
Jill: No. I'm so good. I'm so good. I'm better than ever. You know what? I need to take a step back and look to the future. New year, new beginnings.
Billy: Yeah. I'm thinking along the same lines.
Jill: So... how's work with your ex-paramour as your boss?
Billy: Work is surprisingly cool.
Jill: Hmm.
Billy: I'm sure you've heard about our exclusive with rebekah barlow.
Jill: Oh, yeah. I couldn't miss that.
Billy: That was my idea.
Jill: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: Uh, no, phyllis and i worked on it together, but she really brought it home in the end.
Jill: Yeah.
Billy: Look, I knew that if i was gonna stay at the company, I had to work through our personal differences, and I'm happy to say that we have. And I'm also happy to say that we are still a dynamic team... workwise.
Jill: Mm-hmm. Well... your feelings are my only concern. I just hope you know what you're getting into.
Billy: I'm not gonna get hurt, mom. My eyes are wide open. And phyllis has moved on with nick, so it is what it is.
Jill: She what?
Billy: You heard me. It happened very quickly, but apparently she's committed to both nick and his children, so whatever.
Jill: Oh, honey. Oh, I'm so sorry. This must be painful for you. Ohh!
Billy: As if.
Jill: [ Clears throat ] Justoincidentally, have you seen much of victoria over the hol--
Billy: Not as much as you would like.
Jill: [ Chuckles ] I have no clue what you're talking about.
Billy: [ Chuckles ]
Jill: [ Laugs ]
Victor: Someone has gone to great lengths... to make sure that I'm locked up.
Nick: Why -- so they can target newman enterprises?
Victor: It's more personal than that. It means your mother's still in jeopardy.
Nick: Well, I'm gonna look out for her.
Victor: You promise me that? You're the one who has to go to the ranch and find out who the hell set the place ablaze and find out who planted that phony evidence for the cops. That means your mother's fate is in your hands, son.
Nick: Don't worry. I'm on it.
Victor: Can I depend on you?
Nikki: Cane.
Cane: Hey.
Nikki: Well, what a nice surprise. Come in. Come in.
Cane: Thank you. Uh, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.
Nikki: Thank you.
Victoria: Hi.
Nikki: Oh, hi, sweetheart.
Victoria: I'm here with cane and, uh, two other people who are very anxious to see you.
Reed: Hi, grandma.
Nikki: Hey. Hi, darling.
Charlie: Nice to see you again, mrs. Newman. How are you feeling?
Nikki: Well, much better. Thank you, charlie. I-I love that you came to visit, but, um... what's all this about?
Reed: Charlie and I have something to tell you.
Tech: At safelite autoglass
Nikki: Why don't you start at the beginning?
Charlie: One night before christmas, reed came over to hang out, and his friends were throwing a party. He said that we should go. He was just trying to cheer me up 'cause my girlfriend had moved away. He offered to drive 'cause I had been drinking that night, so i said, "let's go." But we never made it. On the way, it was just really snowy, and... we couldn't see anything. We hit something. I'm really sorry. I-I had no idea it was you or that you were hurt. We didn't find out until later, when reed told me you were here.
Nikki: You had committed a hit-and-run? You can't drive. Your license was suspended.
Reed: I know. I know, and I hate myself for offering and for mentioning that stupid party... and for not going back to see what we'd hit. I knew that if we'd gone back, i would have been in so much trouble for my license and for damaging mr. Ashby's car. If I'd have known it was a person and that it was you... I I would have called for help, and I would have stayed with you instead of going back to charlie's house and pretending like nothing ever happened. When I found out what I had done and... if you'd have died, it would have been all my fault. I...
Victoria: I only learned what happened a few days ago.
Cane: Yeah, same here. I, uh -- I knew there wasI ought it was that he missed his mom or his girlfriend, but it was the guilt inside. It was -- it was tearing him up the same way it was for reed because they both felt like murderers.
Reed: We almost were. I still haven't stopped feeling sick about it.
Nikki: Reed... I want you to look me in the eye. Tell me the truth. Had you been drinking?
Reed: No, grandma, not -- not a single drop. I promise.
Charlie: That's why he offered to drive -- 'cause I was buzzed. If I would have just called a car, none of this would have happened.
Reed: God. I can't believe we're such idiots. I'm so, so sorry, grandma, not that that makes up for any of this.
Cane: Now they're ready to accept whatever consequences you deem appropriate.
Nikki: That I do?
Cane: Yes.
Victoria: That's the arrangement that we agreed to.
Nikki: Well, all right. Um... before we get to that, uh... ...I have my own confession i need to make... to both of you. And it is not easy, but you two have been...so brave today. And I need to be, too. The night of the accident... I had been at the jabot holiday party... drinking, and I don't mean just one glass of champagne.
Reed: But -- but, grandma, you don't drink.
Nikki: H-honey...no. I-I try not to ever, but... that night and the few days before that, I had been very upset about something, and... I gave myself permission. I thought that I deserved to feel better. But then, as always, the opposite happened. The more upset I was, the more i drank.
[ Sighs ] I just was so out of it, i didn't know what the hell I was doing. And that's why I stepped off the curb without looking, and that's why you two could not have prevented this accident, no matter how safe you may have been driving. So stop blaming yourselves.
Charlie: We were in a car, and you were on foot. We're still responsible.
Nikki: It doesn't excuse me being out of control. It's not your fault.
Reed: We still should have gone back to see what we'd hit.
Nikki: And I should have known better. I should have maintained my sobriety and never put you in that position in the first place. I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I hope you can forgive me.
Charlie: We should be the ones asking for your forgiveness.
Nikki: You've already got it.
Reed: [ Crying ]
Nikki: Okay. Now, back to those consequences... one of the best things about being a grandmother is I can leave things like that other people. So...mom, dad... you do whatever you feel is right, with one condition -- this is a family matter. It's private. Please don't involve the police.
Cane: It's a deal.
Victoria: Cane, my mom looks a little tired, but I need to talk to her first. Do you think you can drop reed off at home?
Cane: Yeah, of course. Um, nikki, thank you so much for your compassion and your kindness.
Charlie: Um, I hope you get well soon.
Nikki: Thank you.
Cane: Okay. Come on. Let's go.
Nikki: I love you, honey.
Reed: [ Speaks indistinctly ]
Nikki: Oh.
Victoria: Hey, you. Not so fast. I am so proud of you.
Reed: I'm glad. I thought you two were gonna hate me for the rest of my life.
Victoria: No, not a chance.
Reed: [ Crying ]
Jill: Ohhh.
Billy: [ Chuckles ]
Jill: That was adorable. Johnny the snowman? He must have stolen the whole christmas pageant.
Billy: He pretty much did. He was great.
Jill: Oh, I wish I could have been there with you!
Billy: Well, I'm sure I could talk to him -- maybe get an encore performance.
Jill: Don't you tease me. Do you think he would do that?
Billy: He was anxious to give victoria one.
Jill: Was that when you were all snowed in together?
Billy: No, that was before. The snow-in was, uh, christmas day.
Jill: Do you see? The weather even conspired to have you all together as a family.
Billy: God.
Jill: The kids must have loved it, huh?
Billy: Yeah. Yeah, so did I.
Jill: Honey...
Billy: Hmm?
Jill: ...I haven't seen you look this happy in years. I mean it -- in years.
Billy: You mean pre-phyllis?
Jill: Well, I didn't say that -- you did.
Billy: Okay. You don't have to act all coy, right?
Jill: [ Chuckles ]
Billy: I know you got a bumper sticker on your car that reads, "team victoria."
Jill: Don't be so ridiculous. If I did have one, it would say, "team billy and victoria," okay?
[ Sighs ] You are john abbott's son. Darling, being a family man is embedded in your dna.
Billy: I tried the domestic tranquility more than once. What makes you think it wouldn't end in profanity and tears this time?
Jill: I don't know. Several things. You're addressing your gambling issues now. You're done with phyllis. Phyllis is with nick, and victoria has never stopped loving you. And you are too smart to let her get away again. At least I hope you are.
Charlie: It's the first time I haven't felt sick since the accident. It was weird how I could actually feel all that guilt bottled up, making me feel nauseated day and night. If this is how mom felt, then... I understand why she confessed. I wouldn't want her to know this, but [Clears throat] I have actually been really mad at her for... putting herself and all of us through such an unfair nightmare, you know?
Cane: I had a hard time accepting it, but your mom had to confess. Otherwise, she couldn't live with herself.
Charlie: Well, now I get it, too. If mrs. Newman would have told us to go to the police, then i would have.
Cane: We're just, uh, grateful that it didn't have to come to that, right? Uh, you know, it's good that she had the guts to tell everybody what was going on, um, but listen -- you and I have to discuss these consequences.
Charlie: Like mrs. Newman said... whatever you think is best.
Cane: You can keep your driver's license, but you can't use it for the rest of the school year.
Charlie: Yeah, I understand.
Cane: And I want to know everywhere you're going.
Charlie: Of course, and i won't stay out late.
Cane: You're gonna have a strict curfew, and if you break it once --
Charlie: I won'T.
Cane: All right.
Charlie: I won'T. Promise.
Cane: So, we're clear on this, right?
Charlie: Yeah.
Victoria: Thank you for being so incredible with the boys.
Nikki: I meant every word.
Victoria: I know, and that's why reed is not off the hook. Once he gets his license back, i am gonna extend his driving ban.
Nikki: For how long?
Victoria: A year.
Nikki: Well, you do whatever you feel is best.
Victoria: You know they were terrified to confess the truth to you, even though it was tearing them up inside.
Nikki: I know. You could see it on their faces how upset they were. My heart went out to them, and I'm sure yours did, too. And you and I know the toll that keeping a horrible secret can take.
Victoria: You know, it's been almost nine months since J.T. Died. And we thought that we could just lock it away somewhere deep in our brains and go on with our lives.
Nikki: [ Sighs ] You just can't seal up something this toxic. It starts to poison everything, and... look what it's done to you -- ptsd. It's reduced me to binge-drinking.
Victoria: And dad. What about him? He's sitting in a jail cell, facing the worst possible charges for something that he didn't do.
Nikki: I cannot let this destroy us or the people we love any longer.
Victoria: Mom.
Nikki: This has to end, and there's only one way. I have to tell the police. I have to tell them I'm the one that killed J.T.
