Victoria: No, actually, we don'T. I -- I can explain why it happened.

Cane: Okay.

Victoria: Dad and nick had been arrested for kidnapping mom, who was near death because of a hit-and-run that I just recently learned was caused by my son. So it was a lot -- a lot of stress, a lot of pressure, and, at some point, it was bound to explode, which it did.

Cane: Yeah.

Victoria: And I reacted by doing something stupid and reckless and impulsive. That's all it was. There was nothing else because you and I, we are never gonna happen.

Cane: No, no, no, I mean, of course. I mean, it's the last thing that's going through my mind right now, you know?

Victoria: Oh, no, I just didn't want there to be any misunderstanding.

Cane: No, there's no misunderstanding. There's not, you know, because you have to understand, I'm committed to my wife and I love her very much, and, you know, I'm fighting really hard to keep my family together so that when she gets out of prison, I can pick up the pieces and, you know, we can just -- we can just move on, and just -- your son and my son were involved in that car accident, and... look, before we talk about that, listen, I need to be really clear here. You -- you can't tell a single soul ever about the kiss.

Cane: Yeah.

Billy: Hold on a second. What did you two decide about reed and charlie?

Cane: Um, that I'm gonna go and talk to charlie.

Victoria: Yeah, billy and i are gonna talk it over, as well.

Cane: That's a good idea.

Victoria: Yeah.

Cane: Okay. All right.

Billy: Is it just me, or is something going on with him?

Kyle: Hey.

Lola: Hey.

Kyle: Good day?

Lola: Busy.

Kyle: People love your food.

Lola: If you came back for a sandwich, I --

Kyle: I came back to explain. About what you walked in on between fen and me.

Lola: Okay, well, I have to finish cleaning up here, and then I have to start prepping for tomorrow.

First, there was the drinking, then there was letting someone with a suspended driver's license take you around, and then you leave the scene of an accident. How could you do this after what happened to hilary? How could you leave a woman for dead on the side of the road?!

Victoria: It's just awkward. All of this bad blood over juliet and brash & sassy, and now cane and I have to work together to protect our sons, and...

Victoria: That's impossible. He's innocent.

Billy: Look, it's gonna be all right, vick.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I wish that were true, but it's not.

Abby: I saw your lame attempt at reporting.

Mariah: Just because you didn't like the news, abby...

Mariah: Innocent? Really? Victor? And, by the way, I never said that he was guilty. I was just reporting that he was arrested for murder, which he was.

Abby: And then handed the mic to a detective who's trying to pin the crime on him. You only told the cop's side of the story. How is that fair reporting?

Mariah: I tried to talk to victor. I wasn't allowed to see him since he doesn't have a lawyer.

Abby: Well, then you shouldn't have reported anything, especially shouldn't have reported lies.

Mariah: I reported the facts!

Abby: You twisted them. Just like the cops did to try and make my dad look guilty.

[ Scoffs ] He didn't kill J.T. Someone else did. But you don't care. All you care about is getting the big story.

Mariah: I was just doing my job.

Abby: Well, a good reporter tries to uncover the truth. But you don't care about that. All you care about is ratings, and crucifying victor newman -- wow, that's a ratings gold mine for your pathetic little show.

Mariah: You know what, I am sure victor will have the chance to defend himself.

Abby: Thanks to you, he's already been tried in the court of public opinion.

Mariah: Yeah, but you and i both know who really killed J.T., And it wasn't victor.

Mariah: You look like you're having as bad of a day as I am.

Fen: I have had better.

Mariah: What are you working on?

Fen: Uh, my music, which is going nowhere fast, just like the rest of my life.

Mariah: Whoa. What happened to that cocky guy that I ran into at crimson lights a few weeks ago?

Fen: Have you ever done something really stupid that you just, I don't know, wish you could take back?

Mariah: One or two million times, yeah.

Fen: Yeah. Yeah, you know, sometimes I wish I could just [Sighs] Keep my big mouth shut.

Mariah: Actually, I'm currently working on the same thing, as well. If you haven't noticed, I tend to go a little bit overboard on the snark.

Fen: Ahh. You're not planning on changing that, are you? I mean, that's -- that's kind of your currency.

Mariah: Yeah, but it's hard to buy stuff when nobody's interested in what you're selling. So, my advice -- why don't you tone it down a little bit, as for a do-over?

Fen: You think?

Mariah: It certainly can't hurt.

Fen: You're right. It can'T. Oh, um... thank you.

Kyle: Of all the stupid things I've said today, that one was the stupidest.

Lola: Hope that means you know that my breaking up with you had nothing to do with fen.

Kyle: You're mad that I spent so much on that purse.

Lola: I am so frustrated because you don't understand why it upsets me!

Kyle: I want to! I do! If you'll just explain it --

Lola: No, I thought you knew me. God, I thought you knew me well enough to realize that a gift that expensive would make me extremely uncomfortable.

Kyle: Because you can't afford to buy me things like that.

Lola: That's part of it.

Kyle: The other part? Go ahead. Say it.

Lola: I don't want to be with someone who uses their money to show me how much they care.

Kyle: Wow. Okay. Well, I asked for it.

Lola: I'm sorry, that's just how I feel.

Kyle: No. No, no, no. I want you to be honest with me. I want to do the same for you.

Lola: Go for it.

Kyle: Growing up... it was mostly just me and my mom. She felt bad that my dad wasn't around. So she tried to make feel loved by buying me things. It's just how I grew up, learning that you show your love for someone by giving them expensive gifts. The more expensive the gift... ...the more you were loved. And dad and victor... everybody who came into my life did the same thing. Nobody worried about how much things cost. Extravagant gifts, they weren't a bad thing. Just the opposite. But you're right. I know it wasn't like that for you. I get that now. I'm sorry that I didn't before. I would never want to do anything to hurt you or cross any boundaries that would make you feel uncomfortable. That's why I didn't push you about sex. I knew you weren't ready, and i respect that, and I -- I want to respect your boundaries about money, too.

Lola: Uh, you're saying all the right things.

Kyle: I mean them. I do. I can change. I will change for you because... you're the only one I want to be with. And I will do whatever it takes to make it work between us. So, please... just give me a chance to prove it to you.

Kyle: Does this mean we're back together?

Lola: Do you think I would be kissing you like this if we weren't?

Kyle: Mnh-mnh.

Cane: [ Sighs ] All right, well, the hospital won't give me any information on nikki's condition.

Charlie: If she doesn't make it, I could end up in jail like mom!

Cane: All right, listen, let's just wait until we hear more, okay?

Charlie: [ Sighs ]

Cane: Okay?

Charlie: I screwed up. I screwed up bad.

Cane: All right, listen. I'm gonna go and talk to victoria tomorrow, all right? Reed is in this as deep as you are, and she'll figure out something that involves you guys not going to jail, all right?

Charlie: You think that's possible?

Cane: Listen, I'm gonna protect you, all right? I promise you. Come here. Come here. I promise you, buddy.

Rey: Time's up.

Victor: She just got here.

Rey: I shouldn't have let her come in in the first place.

Abby: Gee, thanks for the favor.

Rey: Look, I know what it means to be a newman in this town.

Abby: You have no idea what it means. You think that we're just a bunch of rich, spoiled, trust fund brats, but we're a family. We stick together. And I don't care who you are. I am gonna do everything in my power to prove that my father is innocent.

Victoria: Do you ever feel like the universe is just conspiring against you?

Billy: Only every other day.

Victoria: I'm serious. It's hard enough dealing with mom's accident and dad being awol, and then he finally shows up again, and he's arrested for and now I find out that reed was driving the car that hit mom...

Billy: You sure you don't want a shot, or something?

Victoria: No, billy. Alcohol does not solve problems.

Billy: Yeah, I know that, but it helps them go away for a little while.

Victoria: Well, eventually, I'm gonna have to face all of this, aren't I?

Billy: Look, I know it feels like you're getting thrown six curve balls all at once, but if anyby' handle that, it's gonna be you.

Victoria: I'm terrible at sports.

Billy: [ Chuckles ] You're gonna be fine. And you're gonna carry your family on your back, like you always do.

Victoria: I could use a little help.

Billy: You got it.
