Episode #11502 ~ Nikki battles old demons, Abby takes a gamble, and Cane joins forces with Victoria.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Ana: There's lots of ways to deal with grief, some better than others.
Devon: What would you suggest?
Ana: You need someone to help you, devon -- a professional.
Phyllis: Barlow's new line and jaboutiques -- it's a perfect match. We can sell her on that -- but only as a team.
Nikki: I tried calling your father again, and I got a recording that said his number is out of service.
Nikki: Oh, my god. The stables!
Victoria: Buck and al could still be in there.
Nikki: And the horses!
Rey: There's no question that the fire was intentionally set.
Nikki: It was arson?
Rey: The ranch has been officially declared a crime scene.
Nikki: Did you get the kids off to school?
Victoria: Yes. You have any luck tracking down dad?
Nikki: No. [ Sighs ] The same recording saying that his number is out of service.
Victoria: What about summer? Has she heard from him yet?
Nikki: No. She says she hasn't seen or heard anything. You don't think... something has happened, do you?
Victoria: No. Of course not. Come on. You know dad. You know how he tends to fall off the grid from time to time, especially when he's out of the country.
Nikki: Yeah, I know, but --
Victoria: And, remember, nick said that he thinks dad is making moves to counter dark horse's market gain.
Nikki: I just don't like it. I mean, there are so many unanswered questions. Now the police are saying it was arson and that the ranch is a crime scene.
[ Cellphone rings ] It's a blocked number. Maybe it's him. Hello? Good morning to you, too, detective.
Rey: I was hoping you would come down to the station this morning.
Nikki: Regarding?
Rey: The fire at the stables. I have a few questions.
Nikki: Um, I'll see if I can rearrange my schedule.
Rey: While you're at it, you mentioned you were staying with your daughter?
Nikki: Yes.
Rey: It would save all of us a lot of time if you asked her to join you.
Nikki: I'll find out if she has any work obligations.
Rey: I appreciate it. See you soon.
Rey: Sorry about that.
Nick: Yeah, I doubt it. Look, you called me in here, and I came. What do you want?
Rey: The fire at the stables -- you know anything about that?
Nick: Why would I?
Rey: 'Cause I know how far you'd go to hurt your father.
Nick: [ Chuckles ] Rey, my mother lives in that house. Our horses live in those stables. You might think I'm a lot of things, but you can cross "fire-starter" off the list. But I came all the way down here, so I will play along. Let's just say I did burn down my family's stables. Why would I do that?
Rey: In light of some newly discovered evidence... I can think of a few motives.
Nate: Devon's where?
Ana: A consultation with a dr. Charles.
Nate: How'd you get through to him?
Ana: We just talked, without blame or accusations or threats. I just spoke from my heart, sister to brother, not, like, say, a physician who's passing judgment instead of making a medical recommendation.
Nate: Are you suggesting that I --
Ana: I don't know what you said or how you said it.
Nate: I was just letting devon know how much we care about him. That's all.
Ana: Then you should know if you talk to him like a patient, like he's a child, the last thing he'll do is toe the line. Let a man know how much you love him, how much he means to you, you'll be surprised what he's capable of.
Devon: I really don't need to be here, to be honest. I should be preparing for a meeting that I have in a few hours.
Dr. Charles: I completely understand. Why don't we just dive right in and take advantage of the time we do have? Why don't you start by telling me a little bit about what brings you here today?
Devon: My family insisted.
Dr. Charles: That's got to be annoying -- the fact that they overstepped.
Devon: I understand that they're trying to help me, but i feel like I can handle my own life, so I-I guess I would appreciate it if they backed off a little bit.
Dr. Charles: I'd feel the same way in your situation. Why don't you tell me a little bit about what's going on in your life? Maybe we can discuss different paths of how we can help you move forward.
Devon: Okay. Sure.
Dr. Charles: So, you've had a difficult year?
Devon: Uh, yes, I have. Um...again, it's nothing that i can't handle. I think that we all have issues in our lives, right?
Phyllis: Our customers are loyal customers. They're young. They're excited. They're social-media savvy.
Billy: All right. Are you gonna say it like that?
Phyllis: For the last time, I'm walking this through.
Billy: I don't want to step on your toes here.
Phyllis: You have all morning.
Billy: I just want to make sure we're on the same page.
Phyllis: Yeah, well, I want to make sure that I can trust you're not gonna undermine me.
Billy: You say, "undermining." I say, "improving."
Phyllis: I am the C.E.O.
Billy: So I've heard.
Phyllis: If you have a problem, you are more than welcome to sit this one out.
Billy: This meeting with rebecca barlow is happening because of me, in case you've forgotten.
Phyllis: Well, how could I, with your constant reminders?
Billy: I came up with the entire concept for jaboutique, okay? So excuse me if I'm invested in its success.
Phyllis: I am invested because I took this idea and i made it into a reality.
Billy: All right.
Phyllis: Okay? If we cannot get along, if we cannot work together, if we can't put our personal history aside --
Billy: Okay, fine. Forget it. You're right. Let's just keep this strictly business, okay?
Phyllis: I'm glad to hear it. Let's keep it that way.
Billy: Fine. S"
Nate: Oh. What's all that?
Ana: For devon's meeting this afternoon with rebecca barlow. She's a cosmetic guru. Very now, very hot, and very rich.
Nate: What's she got going on with devon?
Ana: He's pitching that singer he signed, renee, to be the celebrity face of rebecca's brand.
Nate: Yeah. Neil mentioned something about that -- something about billy setting up a meeting with a cosmetic guru. That was months ago, though. I guess lily had this idea about landing modeling gigs for lp's clients.
Ana: And today devon seals that deal. Hopefully. He's got a lot on his plate.
Nate: Well, he has you there helping him out.
Ana: That doesn't automatically ease the worry.
Nate: No. No, it doesn'T. That's not going anywhere anytime soon. I mean, devon is working on projects that have lily's name written all over them. You know, his father moved upstate to be closer to lily, leaving devon to carry the lion's share of the workload alone, you know, not to mention losing hilary and the baby. I don't know. Do you think he'll be able to hold this down?
Devon: I don't really know how to start these things, you know?
Dr. Charles: Well, have you experienced any losses in the past few months?
Devon: Yes, I have. Uh... my wife and our unborn child.
Dr. Charles: I, uh... I'm so sorry. Can you tell me how -- how that's been for you?
Devon: Well, it's been how you imagine it would be. It's been hell. I, uh -- I'm barely sleeping. And there's -- there's days where I can barely muster up enough to even shower.
Dr. Charles: You must feel so helpless.
Devon: That's a good word for it. I try to focus on anything that I can, uh, but that doesn't work... 'cause I just -- I just... think about what we had and... what we could have been and things I wanted to do with my wife and our child. And I, uh... I never knew that... my heart could break the way it has. I never knew that it would hurt this much... because I sleep in a bed now that we used to share, down the hall from an empty nursery. And... it's just so... so much sometimes that I... I... I don't even know how I'm alive sometimes, just still breathing, 'cause there's not a day that goes by that I don't wish that i was with her.
Dr. Charles: Have you, uh, thought about hurting yourself?
Devon: [ Chuckles ] I mean, I would be lying if i said I haven't, but I would never do that for a number of reasons. I just try to stay positive and try to believe that tomorrow's gonna be a better day. But I feel like it's very normal to miss somebody as much as i do.
Dr. Charles: Completely.
Devon: People keep telling me that...my wife, hilary, uh -- she wouldn't want me to shut down. She'd want me to live my best life, so I've been trying to get back out there and just go through the motions a little bit.
Dr. Charles: How's that been for you -- going through the motions?
Devon: I'd like to say routine, but... honestly, nothing I do anymore really feels very normal.
Dr. Charles: [ Sighs ] That's got to be frustrating.
Devon: It feels like I can't win for trying, either, because I've -- I've gone back to work and I've started hanging out with some of my colleagues, and all I'm getting from my family is... that I'm trying to bury my feelings.
Dr. Charles: How do you feel when people tell you that?
Devon: I... I don't know. It just makes me wonder if there's a blueprint I should be following on how to mourn the love of my life.
Dr. Charles: Tell me about hilary. What was she like?
Devon: She was very special. She was, um... beautiful... and ambitious... and, uh, the life of every party. And she was -- she was my everything.
Dr. Charles: She sounds like an incredible woman.
Devon: She is. She -- she was when she was -- I still am not used to talking about her in the past tense.
Dr. Charles: Can you tell me how, uh -- how she died?
Devon: I, uh -- I can. She...died in a car accident, from -- from a car accident. My, uh [Clears throat] -- My sister lily was driving the car... and, uh, hilary was in the passenger seat. They were arguing for the millionth time. And my sister got distracted and took her eyes off the road and ran a red light, and then they got t-boned on hilary's side of the car. But she survived the accident and then ended up suffering complications after my cousin nate operated on her.
Dr. Charles: Wait. Your cousin was --
Devon: The surgeon. He...tried to save her life and ended up turning mine upside down. And for some reason, he doesn't quite understand that every time I see his face or I hear his voice, it's --
Dr. Charles: That's got to be difficult for you.
Devon: It's -- yeah, it's a little bit. It's a little bit. And since he lost the love of his life a year ago, he also feels like he has the authority to tell me how I'm supposed to mourn hilary.
Dr. Charles: And when he projects how you should be feeling, how does that sit with you?
Devon: Not very well. It makes me angry. And then I feel guilty for being angry, and then I just try to suppress that and avoid him.
Dr. Charles: What about your sister, the driver?
Devon: Yeah. She was -- she was sentenced to a year in prison. And, uh, my father, uh, just moved upstate to be closer to her.
Dr. Charles: How does that make you feel toward your father?
Devon: It doesn't make me feel any different. It's his daughter, so i understand. But the, uh -- the family has tried to strong-arm me into forgiving her.
Dr. Charles: Well, now, you seem torn. Have you forgiven her?
Devon: Honestly, no. I mean, I feel bad that she's not near her children, but she's gonna get out of jail one day, and she's gonna be able to grow old with her husband and watch her kids grow up, and she's left me with nothing but memories, the dreams that she's destroyed, and a wife and child who are never gonna come back, and... you know... for some reason, my family can't understand why I wouldn't want to go and visit her on a day like thanksgiving and remind her of all the things that she has to be thankful for just to make her feel better.
Dr. Charles: How did you handle that?
Devon: I didn'T. I, um -- I told them that I had to get back to the studio, 'cause I-i work in the music industry, and, uh... that's when they got concerned about me.
Dr. Charles: Well, uh, what made them concerned?
Devon: What made them concerned was I had a party with a few colleagues of mine, people who didn't know hilary and don't know what I'm going through and don't look at me like I'm gonna fall apart, and we... probably had too much to drink, but it was just, you know, a day that we needed to unwind and let loose and just forget about what was going on in our lives, and i really didn't see the harm in doing that.
Dr. Charles: Well, it's a natural impulse to avoid the people and memories that cause us pain. That's just what makes us human.
Nick: Well? You gonna tell me about this new evidence you found?
[ Knock on door ]
Nikki: Wh-- nicholas.
Nick: Mom, vick.
Rey: Before we get started, I want to --
Nick: No, no, no. We're way past that. Why are we here?
Rey: Can you think of anyone who would want to burn down the stables -- any enemies, disgruntled employees?
Nikki: Didn't we discuss this at the ranch?
Victoria: We assumed that you had some new information.
Nick: Rey, this new evidence -- tell us what it is.
Rey: I'll do you one better. I'll show you.
[Music playing]
Billy: Oh. There she is.
Phyllis: Okay. Don't screw this up. Rebekah barlow. Pleasure to finally meet you. Phyllis summers.
Rebekah: Likewise.
[ Sighs ] Congratulations on becoming C.E.O. Of jabot. I love seeing women take the reins. And you must be the ex.
Billy: Former C.E.O., Yes -- billy abbott. Thank you for meeting us today. Please, have a seat. Well, I have to say, not only are we in love with your story and your products, but your flair for appealing to the masses is really impressive. That's exactly why we're both convinced that your lines and our store would be a perfect match.
Rebekah: Right to the point. I like that. So, tell me, why should i partner with these jaboutiques?
Phyllis: We're a brand-new experience, a universal appeal, from the young consumer who wants to try everything to the experienced woman who knows what she wants.
Billy: And we offer what no one else can -- a specialized product, an intimate, personalized experience coupled with fun and exciting technology for your flawless look.
Phyllis: We set the bar when it comes to V.I.P. Treatment.
Billy: We're gonna offer rewards to our loyal customers that they can spend like cash. We have private rooms, personal shopping, enticing them with looks and lines that they didn't realize that they wanted.
Phyllis: Yeah. We have digital stations where people can try out your entire eyelash line or hundreds of lip colors without wasting their time -- or your product.
Billy: Now, look, your online presence is, well, very impressive, but your millions of followers need a place where they can go and see the product, where they can touch it and smell it, use it, and fall in love with it. We can make your products and your customers stand out in a crowd.
Phyllis: There's no one like us.
Billy: There's no one like you.
Phyllis: We will give you an exclusive experience.
Billy: An opportunity to reimagine yourself in a million different iterations.
Phyllis: And the possibilities really are limitless as your imagination.
Billy: And an experience that you'll never get anywhere else.
Phyllis: And if you think about it, which we know you'll agree, we belong together.
Rey: None of you recognize this?
Nick: You're accusing us of owning a gun that was found in the stables where my daughter keeps her horses, where she takes her riding lessons? She is literally in there all the time. Why would we put her safety at risk like that?
Nikki: We would never knowingly leave a gun where our grandchildren could come in contact with it.
Rey: Then where did it come from>
Victoria: Whoever started the fire would be my guess.
Rey: That is one possibility.
Victoria: But you're leaning toward another?
Nick: Would you like to share what that is before we get our lawyers in here?
Devon: Thank you.
Dr. Charles: So, uh, how have you been sleeping?
Devon: Um... when I do sleep, it's nightmares about losing hilary over and over again or dreams that are so real that I'd swear that she's alive and still with me. Then I wake up and I'm just hit with reality... or I feel like I've run a marathon. Those are the good nights.
Dr. Charles: Yeesh. How 'bout the bad ones?
Devon: [ Clicks tongue ] I don't sleep at all. I just -- I just... stay up thinking about... "what ifs" and "if onlys." Sometimes I feel like the walls literally are closing in on me, and I get this weight on my chest where I literally can't breathe.
Dr. Charles: Tell me about those thoughts.
Devon: Mainly just thoughts of [Clears throat] Letting her down... and all the promises that I made there before she passed away... how I swore that I'd take care of shauna.
Dr. Charles: And shauna is?
Devon: She's a girl that hilary met a little while back and, um, she was in kind of a tough living situation, so hilary took her under her wing and, uh, actually moved her into our house. And... a few days ago, my brother-in-law thought it would be best if she moved back home.
Dr. Charles: So, shauna's gone?
Devon: She's back in colorado.
Dr. Charles: Well, that can't be easy for you -- losing another child, another tie to hilary.
Devon: It's not. And, you know, I grew up in foster care, so I understand what family means probably better than anybody because it's something that I always wanted and I felt like I'd never get it 'cause I felt like I didn't deserve to have it. And then... I got a great family. I got people who love me and... took care of me, and... and I found a woman who loved me and took care of me, and she was pregnant with our child, and we had everything. We literally had everything we wanted in life. And...
[Snaps fingers] Just like that, it went away... in the blink of an eye... all from one reckless decision, you know, and... I'm not a --
[ Chuckles ] I'm not a husband anymore 'cause I lost my wife. We lost a child, so I'm no one's father. I've lost my sister who I was closest to.
Dr. Charles: It sounds like you feel you've lost a lot of roles that are important to you. I'm wondering what other roles help define who you are.
Devon: I mean... my work, I guess. It's something that I love to do. But now I have people looking at me... wondering if I'm up to it... if -- if I can still do it. And then it makes me think the same things. I start doubting myself. I-I just wonder if I've gone through so much hell, maybe I-I-I can't do my job anymore and I can't make music that people want to hear.
Dr. Charles: Devon, it's abundantly clear that you've suffered a great loss in a relatively short period of time. And we both know that drinking alcohol to excess may help in the moment, but it's a temporary fix.
Devon: Yeah. It's helped so far.
Dr. Charles: But it won't work forever.
[ Sighs ] Now, I can help you manage the depression and anxiety so that you don't feel you need to escape in unhealthy ways.
Devon: And how do you imagine doing that?
Dr. Charles: Well, I can see you once, twice a week until you get your life back under control. I mean, from everything you've told me, you need an objective eye from a noncritical, nonjudgmental environment. Now, we can formulate a treatment plan for you.
Devon: What kind of treatment plan would this be?
Dr. Charles: I think prescribing medication will help.
Devon: I'm definitely not gonna do that.
Dr. Charles: Oh, it's not something you have to take for the rest of your life. It's just until --
Devon: Y-you don't understand. I'm not taking pills.
Devon: Doctor, I do appreciate your help, but I'm definitely not gonna be taking any kind of medication.
Dr. Charles: Now, look, I'm not gonna force you to do anything. But, please, let's just have a seat and talk about it.
Devon: I mean, yeah, we can talk, but I am very opposed to popping any kind of pills.
Dr. Charles: Do you have a history?
Devon: Well, my mother was a drug addict, and the man who adopted me, neil -- he has been in aa, and I'm in the music industry, so I'm constantly around people who are using, and I've always sworn that I will never be one of those people.
Dr. Charles: You mind my asking what drugs your mother used?
Devon: She used cocaine.
Dr. Charles: Well, what I'm prescribing for you is a low-dose, short-term, anti-anxiety medication that will help you just get through this crisis. And to make sure you're in control of the situation, I'll be monitoring you closely. It's much better than self-medicating with alcohol. I mean, you're a smart man. You know that's not a sustainable solution to any problem. I mean, you've seen it firsthand.
Devon: I just don't know about doing this, though.
Dr. Charles: [ Sighs ] Some people feel that taking meds is a sign of weakness, that they should be able to cure themselves somehow. But how about from a perspective of someone who has diabetes or asthma? Would you say they're weak for taking a medicine that helps save their lives?
Devon: Well, I mean, I think that's very different.
Dr. Charles: No, it's exactly the same. Any one of those stories you told me today would have brought a grown man to his knees. You just need a little...help to get to the point where you're back in control of your life again. Take it day by day.
Devon: Sure.
Dr. Charles: Good. Now, if you know the name of your pharmacy, I can call it in now, and if you have any questions or concerns, give me a call.
Devon: I do, actually. I-I, um -- anything that -- that we do, this just stays between us? There's -- there's, uh, patient/doctor confidentiality, right?
Dr. Charles: What we say and do stays in this room, unless i feel you're a harm to yourself or someone else. Bottom line -- I'm ethically and legally bound to make sure you get the help you need. I care a great deal for your safety.
Nick: So, you think someone started the fire on purpose so law enforcement would have to come in and search the stables?
Victoria: Who would do something like that?
Rey: That's what I would like to know.
Nikki: Granted, it's a dangerous thing to leave a gun where anybody can get their hands on it, but it's certainly not a criminal offense.
Nick: You know, this is pathetic. You are so convinced that we had something to do with J.T.'S death that you will use any trumped-up excuse to bring us in and interrogate us. You are bending the facts to fit your theory.
Rey: Nick --
Nick: Our property was vandalized, and you're treating us like suspects. I've had enough of this.
Nikki: Nicholas.
Nick: Am I under arrest?
Rey: No.
Nick: Then I'm out. Look, you want me... then you come and get me. And, you two, don't say another word till you get an attorney in here.
Victoria: Are we free to go?
Rey: Of course. Thank you for coming by. I appreciate it. Uh, however... the gun... is not the only piece of evidence we found after the fire.
Victoria: What is that?
Rey: It looks like an oxford shirt.
Nikki: Is that blood?
Rey: Is this familiar to either one of you? Dodo
Victoria: I've never seen that shirt before. Have you?
Nikki: No, never.
Rey: Could it belong to victor?
Nikki: Absolutely not.
Rey: You're sure about that?
Nikki: All of victor's shirts are tailor-made. That's clearly off the rack.
Victoria: Now that we've established that we have no knowledge of the shirt or the gun, maybe you can run some forensic tests so you no longer have to waste any of your time.
Rey: We did. And I have some very... interesting results.
Rebekah: I love it. I do. The way you're incorporating technology by making it personal and intimate -- that's exactly what I'm looking for in a partnership.
Phyllis: Well, we would make a great team -- rebekah by jabot, exclusively at jaboutique.
Rebekah: Well, I'm not quite ready to make any final decisions, but you are definitely at the top of my short list. And it bears repeating, though -- I love the new vision and energy that you're bringing to jabot.
Phyllis: It's all about teamwork.
Billy: And making connections.
Phyllis: Do you not have a phone call to make?
Billy: I do. Rebekah, thank you so much for your time. It was a pleasure to meet you.
Rebekah: Pleasure, billy. Um, before we go, the guy over there -- do you happen to know him?
Phyllis: That one?
Rebekah: Dark hair, killer smile?
Phyllis: Yeah. He's the C.E.O. Of dark horse, a recently launched real-estate company that actually leased our space to us at jaboutique.
Rebekah: I would love to meet with him -- you know, talk locations, interior designers, that sort of thing.
Phyllis: Oh.
Rebekah: It could help me make my final decision.
Phyllis: I am happy to make that happen.
Rebekah: Fabulous. Got to run. Another meeting.
Phyllis: Very good.
Rebekah: Talk soon?
Phyllis: Yes, we will. Thank you again.
Rebekah: The pleasure was all mine.
Phyllis: All right.
Billy: Hey.
Phyllis: Thank you for giving us a moment.
Billy: Of course. Anything to seal the deal.
Phyllis: Yeah. Anything.
Billy: So, are we close to a contract?
Phyllis: I think we are on the inside track.
[ Door closes ]
Devon: [ Clears throat ] Checking up on me?
Nate: [ Laughing ] No. I was actually catching up on life with ana.
Devon: Sure.
Nate: Heard you had an appointment today.
Devon: Among many. I have a job.
Nate: I know how hard it must have been for you to go out asking for help.
Devon: Do you, nate?
Nate: It's not a sign of weakness, devon.
Devon: Well, thank you, man. Everybody wanted me to go, so i went, and now I'd like to focus on my work.
Ana: I put together some information packets -- one for rebekah and one for you. For your meeting with rebekah barlow? She's due in a few minutes.
Devon: That's right. That's right. I got a lot on my mind.
Nate: Well, are you sure you're up for this? We can always postpone.
Devon: Nate, if I needed your help, I'd ask for it. I've got this.
Suggesting is that we push the meeting with rebekah, wait till neil's back in town --
Devon: I don't need your suggestions, nate. I really don'T. You have no clue about what i do, and I'm not new at this. So if you can't get it through your head, man, I --
[ Doorbell rings ]
Ana: That must be rebekah.
Devon: There's one way to find out.
[ Clears throat ]
Nate: Look, my apologies.
Devon: It's okay. It's fine. Just give a polite "hello" and then be on your way back to your own life, please.
[ Door opens ] Rebekah.
Rebekah: Devon hamilton.
Devon: How are you, ms. Barlow? Please, come in.
Rebekah: Love your place!
Devon: Oh, thank you very much. I appreciate you agreeing to meet me here.
Rebekah: Oh, the last thing i need is another meeting in a stuffy board room.
Devon: I couldn't agree more. You'll have to forgive me. I was just wrapping up another meeting. But this is my assistant, ana.
Rebekah: Nice to meet you.
Ana: Nice to meet you.
Rebekah: And you are?
Nate: Just leaving. I'll be in touch.
Devon: No doubt. Mind if we have a seat, please? Uh, can I get you anything to drink?
Rebekah: Oh, nothing for me, thanks.
Ana: Devon?
Devon: Yeah. Can I get a sparkling water, please? Thank you. Um, before I forget, phoenix truman tells me to say hello.
Rebekah: Phoenix?
Devon: Yes.
Rebekah: O.M.G. Where did you see him?
Devon: We were actually in the studio together 'cause he was working on a session for me, and he had his phone out, going through his photos, and then there was rebekah.
Rebekah: [ Laughs ] Amazing musician.
Devon: Oh, he's incredible. He's, uh, my secret weapon. He's actually -- he's, uh, played bass on one of renee's newest tracks.
Rebekah: This is it?
Devon: That's it, yes. There's -- I think it's about five to six brand-new songs that haven't been released yet, so you're gonna be the very first.
Rebekah: I can't wait to hear it.
Devon: Good.
Rebekah: And I can't wait to meet her. So, where is she?
Devon: Where's who?
Rebekah: Renee.
Devon: Renee is -- she's on tour. She's doing a concert in milan tonight.
Rebekah: Does that mean the second half of our meeting involves jumping on a jet to italy so I can get a proper introduction?
Devon: I-I didn't think that we would be --
Rebekah: You thought I was gonna sign off on a multimillion-dollar cosmetics campaign based on your good looks and charm? I need to meet her, sit, chat, learn who she is, see if we're copacetic.
Devon: A-absolutely. Of course you do. Um --
Rebekah: So, tell me, how exactly am I supposed to do that when she's not even on the same continent?
Devon: It's --
Rebekah: You know, I have learned all I need to about renee. Devon, there is one thing I find tiresome, and that is people like you who waste my time.
Billy: I cannot believe we just pulled that off. I mean, the way we played off each other like that -- come on.
Phyllis: Great minds.
Billy: [ Chuckles ] You can say that again.
Phyllis: I couldn't have pulled that pitch off without you.
Billy: Well, you could have. It just wouldn't have been nearly as impressive.
Phyllis: We've always been a good team.
Billy: Yeah. Partnership.
Phyllis: To a hell of a pitch.
Billy: The first of many.
Victoria: You know, we have been completely transparent throughout this entire investigation, so why don't you just give us the benefit of the doubt instead of wasting our time with these pointless questions?
Rey: Needed to know if anyone in the newman family had seen the gun before.
Nikki: Why would you assume we had?
Rey: Because it is registered to victor newman, and his prints were the only ones found on the gun.
Nikki: My husband keeps all the firearms under lock and key, and he's never been careless with a weapon.
Victoria: My father has been out of this country for some time. There must be some logical explanation as to how it ended up in the stables.
Rey: The other forensic results were illuminating, as well.
Nikki: How so?
Rey: The blood... on the shirt. It's J.T. Hellstrom'S.
Nick: Mmm. What's this for?
Phyllis: Little something to help you wind down.
Nick: Mm.
Phyllis: Did you hear anything about what started the stable fires?
Nick: Uh, no, not yet. Rosales dragged me, mom, and vick down to the station to question us about some gun he found.
Phyllis: Gun? Why would there be a gun in the stable?
Nick: I don't know. That's what he wants to know. He's barking up the wrong tree. All he's doing is stressing everyone out.
Phyllis: I can feel that stress right here.
Nick: Yeah. That's the spot. Maybe, uh... yeah, just a little deeper.
Phyllis: Okay. What if I do this? How's that feel?
Nick: Well, that feels like you're trying to butter me up for something.
Phyllis: [ Gasps ] Little me?
Nick: Mm. I mean, you run a major corporation, but you're afraid to ask me for what it is you really want.
Phyllis: No, but it's so much more fun this way.
Nick: It's definitely fun. Let's just skip the fun, and why don't you just ask me? 'Cause you know I'm going to give you or do whatever you want.
Phyllis: Even if it involves going on a date with another woman?
Rebekah: I think this meeting is over.
Devon: Well, hold on just a second, please, 'cause renee -- she couldn't be more excited to know that you want her to be the face of your brand. She's worn nothing but your line since it came out, and she literally won't let our stylist put her in anything else.
Rebekah: Well, I'm flattered to hear that, but that's something that I would have liked to hear from renee.
Devon: Yes, absolutely, and we should have.
Rebekah: But? What's the problem?
Ana: Renee's european tour was booked months ago. We scheduled this meeting with the expectation that she would come home for the holidays, but her agent booked a few more dates and didn't notify us.
Rebekah: That's unfortunate.
Ana: We knew you were ready to move forward with this campaign, and we wanted to take advantage of you being in town -- see if we could lay the groundwork. Right, devon?
Devon: Absolutely, yes.
Ana: We know how important it is for you to choose the right woman to represent your brand. We have no doubt that woman is renee. She has a diverse audience, a wide online presence, the same demographic that you can target. She's in the top five most streamed singers and hasn't even reached her full potential. She has fans worldwide -- young girls and women tuning in to watch her beauty regiments online. Imagine all of those young faces wearing your brand. Renee is the face and the sound of a new generation, and this partnership could send you both off the charts.
Rebekah: When can I meet this phenomenon of yours? I want to get things nailed down before the new year so that we can start 2019 off with a bang. How do we make this happen?
Ana: Devon?
Rebekah: Is he all right?
Ana: Devon? Devon!
Victoria: That's J.T.'S blood?
Nikki: It's impossible. It makes no sense. It cannot be.
Rey: Why would that be impossible?
Victoria: Because you've proven yourself to be the type of man who twists the truth to suit your needs, because you have been playing games with us since you called us down here. How are we supposed to believe you anyway? Maybe you planted this evidence.
Rey: Why don't we let your mother speak for herself?
Nikki: Fine. It makes no sense because there's always someone at the stables. We have people on staff practically around the clock -- loyal employees -- and they keep meticulous records, so, trust me, if a gun and a bloody shirt had been found, it would have been reported.
Victoria: And how do they miraculously show up in the stable after a fire that did that much damage?
Rey: We're putting the pieces together. But the fact of the matter is is that the victim's bloody shirt and a potential murder weapon with victor newman's fingerprints were found at the stables on newman property. And that means that victor newman is now the prime suspect in the murder of J.T. Hellstrom. Suspect in the murder of J.T. Hellstrom.
