Episode #11442 ~ Billy takes a walk on the wild side, Lauren offers Jack inside information, and Nikki covers with Victor.

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Billy: Whoo!

Phyllis: [ Screams ]

[ Laughing ]

Billy: Whoa! Oh! Anybody that says gambling is a vice doesn't know this feeling. This is one of the best feelings in the world.

Jack: Once phillip rejected dina, she turned to one of these men.

Ashley: But, jack, we don't even know who they are.

Jack: Yeah, well, I'll have to find out who they are. And which one of them is my father.

Tessa: The people that helped crystal get across the border need to be paid. $20,000. Which I obviously don't have. And I'm terrified about what they'll do if they don't get their money.

Devon: What were you guys doing when lily found you? Were you hooking up? That's what set off this whole nightmare that I'm living right now, is you guys hooking up?

Victor: So, this business of his, dark horse. Does he really think he can compete with me?

Nikki: He's already started.

Jack: I hope you've confirmed by now. It's only the most exclusive event in town.

Nikki: Mm. How exclusive? Does the ceo's mother get a plus-one?

Jack: As long as it doesn't violate our very strict no-mustache policy.

Nikki: Oh.

Jack: A simple security measure to ensure that the ceo's father doesn't sabotage nick's big night.

Billy: Oh, here we go.

Phyllis: Yep. Mmm.

Billy: Mmm.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] Now, doesn't this beat sitting in a buffet line downstairs?

Billy: I tell you, winning all weekend really builds an appetite.

Phyllis: Yeah? Well, then, you must be famished, because you were a star at that poker tournament. I mean, even compared to your pal sinead.

Billy: Oh, she's not my pal. But her money's green, and right now, I have a lot of it.

Phyllis: As much as I have savored this whole vegas experience, I have to say, I think we need to trade in sin city for gc.

Billy: Yeah, I know.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Billy: We got to go home.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Billy: Or do we?

Sharon: Honey dispenser, please.

Tessa: Here you go.

Sharon: You are a quick study.

Tessa: As promised. Thank you again for the job.

Sharon: I know serving up latte isn't exactly your dream career --

Tessa: Hey, I am just so lucky to be earning a paycheck again. And, you know what, I'm actually loving every second. Uh...speaking of paychecks... um, I was wondering if I could get an advance?

Sharon: On your first week's pay?

Tessa: Actually, for the next few months' worth?

Sharon: Tessa...

Tessa: I know. I feel so lame for asking. It's just, I had to fork over every dime I have for an apartment security deposit, first and last month's rent. I'm just -- I'm just really strapped for cash.

Sharon: Look, I'm really glad that I could help you out here, um, for mariah's sake, but it's only been a few days. And you're doing a really great job. I mean, had it been a few weeks, and had there been some kind of a real emergency, that would be a different story.

Tessa: No, yeah. I, uh, totally understand. That guy's in here all the time. Seems kind of nice.

Sharon: You're right about that.

Tessa: I'll go see what he wants.

Sharon: Good luck.

Jack: I assure you, nick is not looking at dark horse as a statement against his father or as a weapon.

Nikki: Yes, but the father/son dynamic is still there, and I'm sure it's affecting the way both of them are working, whether they're aware of it or not.

Jack: So maybe victor would choose the launch of nick's new company for a stab at mutual forgiveness?

Nikki: Not in my most optimistic dreams.

Jack: That is a pity.

Nikki: You're right, though. There could be trouble if victor showed up.

Jack: You mean like right now?

Nikki: Bye, jack.

Jack: See you tomorrow night.

Victor: He must be gloating about something. And why is he seeing you tomorrow night?

Phyllis: Lauren is bombarding me with messages since I told her I would be in this afternoon. And she's right, you know. I have a job. I need to be doing it.

Billy: Well, you do. Seven days a week. You do it amazingly. So all I'm saying is that I feel like we've earned a little tiny extension onto our vegas weekend. If you just -- if you just hear me out.

Phyllis: Speak. Please.

Billy: Okay. If we pack up and go straight to the airport right now, we're not gonna arrive in gc until like 5:00 or 6:00, which means the day is gone. So all I'm saying is that we spend the day here, and then we leave tonight.

Phyllis: Okay, a ceo makes those kind of decisions. But I need to look out for my boss, okay, and my dear friend.

Billy: Yeah, but fenmore's will survive one more day without you.

Phyllis: Oh, really? Can I quote you, please?

Billy: You can feel free to quote me.

Phyllis: Okay.

Billy: This is who we are. We're back on track. Which means, for us, it's playing fast, fun, and loose. Because we are the people we promised to be for each other. Spontaneous. Unpredictable.

Phyllis: Passionate.

Billy: Passionate.

Phyllis: Passionate. Passionate.

Nikki: You know, just because jack can't resist baiting you doesn't mean you have to play along.

Victor: Are you going out with that delusional fellow tomorrow?

Nikki: Well, not really. But I am seeing him, in a manner of speaking. He's doing his duty as a new hope board member, and he has enlisted a wealthy donor for me to meet tomorrow.

Victor: Why didn't you tell me about that? I mean, nicholas left your foundation to fend for itself? Is that it? You mean he's using all of his extra time to devote to that doomed business called dark horse?

Tessa: Here you go.

Charlie: Thank you.

Tessa: Yeah. So, last time, you just ran out of here without your order.

Charlie: Uh... yeah. That was weak. Heh... I got mixed up. Forgot it was the first day of school.

Tessa: So today you're just cutting class?

Charlie: No...

Tessa: Relax. It's okay. I know all about ditching and then lying to cover it up.

Charlie: So, uh, I guess we don't have a problem, then?

Tessa: No, we don't have one. I mean, dude, with everything going on with your mom? I'm so sorry that your family has to deal.

Charlie: I appreciate it, tessa.

Tessa: Yeah.

Charlie: Hey, if you could do me a favor and not mention to anyone that I was here?

Tessa: Yeah. Just try to feel better, okay?

Charlie: Yeah. Thank you.

Tessa: Yeah. Wow. Free coffee for a whole month. You must rate pretty high in the crimson light universe.

Rey: Who, me?

Tessa: Yeah.

Rey: No, I just thought I was another one of sharon's favorites like, uh, phyllis or victoria.

Tessa: Hmm. Regulars, maybe. But, uh, I doubt those two are sharon's favorite anything.

Rey: Oh, well, it goes to show how much I know. I guess I saw them hanging out together a few times. Now I'm spreading rumors about them.

Tessa: I mean, it's probably just for that charity thing.

Rey: Oh, I love a good cause. Know what it's about?

Tessa: No clue.

Rey: Mm.

Sharon: Hi, rey.

Rey: Hey.

Sharon: Looks like tessa's covering the java hookup.

Rey: Uh-huh.

Sharon: Anything else I can do for the top amateur plumber in town?

Rey: I can't think of anything. Although I was hoping that nick would be around.

Sharon: Not today.

Tessa: Oh, nick is probably at his office. Dark horse world headquarters, high atop the city, piecing together the final details of the big company launch tomorrow.

Rey: Oh, yeah. That will be a major event. I'll see you both soon.

Sharon: What have you been telling him?

Devon: Oh...

Shauna: Keys.

Devon: Keys. Oh. Thank you very much. And... hey. Phone charger. Thank you very much for the loan.

Shauna: Coffee?

Devon: Yes, thank you. If I can find my briefcase now.

Shauna: Look down.

Devon: Perfect.

Shauna: [ Chuckles ] Have a great day.

Devon: Have a good day. I mean it, though. I really want you to try and have a good one, 'cause I know it's been rough for us.

Shauna: Without hilary? Even harder than I thought.

Devon: I know. But, uh, if you need anything, just to talk, don't hesitate, okay? 'Cause staying busy is good, but it's -- it's not everything.

Shauna: Okay. Same here. I-I have been thinking about lily. Wondering how she's doing.

Devon: I-I couldn't tell you, 'cause we haven't spoken since the courthouse.

Shauna: When are you gonna go visit her?

Devon: I don't know. That's hard for me to say, 'cause I don't have my schedule in front of me. But I'm late for a meeting right now, otherwise I'd be dropping you at school.

Shauna: No need. Bye.

Devon: Okay. See ya.

Charlie: [ Sighs ]

[ Knocking ]

Shauna: You can't be here.

Jack: What a lovely surprise.

Lauren: I'm always happy to see you. Phyllis told me you moved back in.

Jack: Yeah, easier to keep an eye on my mother this way.

Lauren: Yeah. Well, someone needs to keep an eye on phyllis now. Seems she went away for the weekend, and just when she was due back, fell off the grid.

Jack: She and billy aren't back from their trip yet. You look skeptical. You're free to search the house, the grounds.

Lauren: No, you solved the mystery. I understand. She is now under the influence of billy.

Jack: Is that a punishable offense these days?

Lauren: You know, maybe it should be. Because obviously he's convinced my e-commerce queen to awol.

Jack: Well, I don't know what to tell you. I am merely a jabot board member, like yourself.

Lauren: Right. And, board member to board member, your brother, the ceo, has run a tad amuck. I mean, I am very concerned about this power struggle he has going with ashley.

Jack: In what way?

Lauren: In a way that it could harm fenmore's no matter which abbott ends up on top.

Billy: I know it's technically monday, but this weekend just keeps getting better and better. I am on fire, and so are you.

Phyllis: I'm starting to understand why this is so important to you.

Billy: You understand me. I love that. And I love you for that.

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] Back at ya.

Billy: I am so glad you're here with me this weekend. I think it's so important that we were both able to see that I can control this. I can plunge into the deep end. I can taste a little bit of that thrill. I can kick some butt. Win big, cash out way ahead, and then walk out. Even better because I got you.

Phyllis: I have to say, you were pretty amazing this weekend.

Billy: Look who's talking.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] Oh, no, no, no. I'm still a relative newbie.

Billy: Oh, yeah?

Phyllis: Yeah.

Billy: Sin city virgin?

Phyllis: Well, I wouldn't be that crazy. No, no, no. No, I-I think I could take a smidge less terror on the high-octane-thrill cocktail, though.

Billy: It's never gonna be all-or-nothing for me ever again. Not as long as I have you. And in case you haven't noticed, this little team we got going on here...

[ Phyllis chuckles ]

Billy: ...We are on a red-hot winning streak, baby.

Tessa: I promise, I did not share anything private with rey. I mean, unless that charity thing with phyllis and victoria is a secret. The one you've had going with them for a while...

Sharon: It isn'T. And talking to rey, it's not a huge deal. But just use extra caution when you're around him.

Tessa: Why?

Sharon: Because he's a debt collector, and he's after J.T. Hellstrom.

Tessa: Well, I mean, I don't have J.T. Stashed away anywhere, do you?

[ Chuckles ]

Sharon: It's just that rey's investigation has dredged up a lot unpleasantness for a variety of people.

Tessa: I mean, yeah. J.T. Is an abusive, murderous creep. That's why they need to find him.

Sharon: Right.

Tessa: I -- I'm just -- I'm really sorry for running my mouth off to rey. I signed a nondisclosure agreement at hamilton-winters. I can do that here, too, if you want.

Sharon: No, that's -- that's okay. I trust you. I'd like to trust you more, so, um, you know, as a gesture of goodwill, let's go ahead with that pay advance.

Tessa: When? Now? That's amazing. Thank you, sharon.

Sharon: In exchange, loyalty and discretion.

Tessa: You got it. Hi! Hey, guess who got the advance on her barista salary?

Mariah: Wow. That's -- that's amazing. Yeah, sharon is an incredibly generous person. Um, but unless it was five years' advance salary, I don't know how it's gonna cover what those lowlifes are asking for. Tessa, I can't believe you're not more concerned.

Victor: There's that rosales fellow. Last time, I thought he was rather too familiar. Let's find out what he's all about. Hello, mr. Rosales.

Rey: Mr. And mrs. Newman. It's terrific seeing you both again.

Victor: Care to join us?

Rey: Oh, no. I don't -- I don't want to interrupt.

Nikki: Oh, it's our pleasure. Please.

Victor: Have a seat.

Rey: That's -- that's very kind of you. And, uh, much more interesting than eating alone at the bar.

Victor: Yes, I bet. Did the turn in the market effect your job in finance?

Rey: No, and I'll -- I'll tell you why. Um... I wasn't exactly straight with you. I'm actually in debt collection.

Victor: Oh. As they elegantly call it in that business, "financial recovery services."

Rey: [ Chuckles ]

Victor: Tough job.

Rey: Yeah. Doesn't always get the most positive reaction. Hence why I say "financial services."

Victor: Oh, yeah.

Rey: Definitely has its challenges. But you -- you just have to be patient.

Victor: I assume that, when you catch the culprit, ensure they won't do it again, that must be satisfying.

Rey: Mm.

Tessa: You worry about me too much already. Knowing I have your support, I can handle this. Okay? It's covered.

Mariah: Yeah, I know that's not true. And I can't just forget, especially when you've just been added to the hit list by a bunch of criminals.

Tessa: "Hit list" is overstating things. They just want their $20,000 for helping me out with crystal. Look, I'll get another part-time job to supplement my hours here. I'll set up an installment plan. Something. I'll find my way out of this. I promise. I'm a very resourceful gal.

Mariah: Yeah. You'd have to be to ask devon for a loan.

Tessa: Why would he feel the need to report that? Probably because he doesn't believe me, and thinks that you shouldn't, either.

Shauna: You shouldn't be here, charlie.

Charlie: Look --

Shauna: Not after what happened last time.

Charlie: [ Sighs ] I won't stay long, okay? Can we please just talk?

Shauna: We can't break devon's rules in any way. Come on. I'm gonna be late for school, and so are you.

Charlie: I haven't been yet.

Shauna: At all?

Charlie: I can't stand being there. Talking about it. Lying to my friends. Telling them my mom's fine.

Shauna: She's not?

Charlie: How can she be? I mean, she's pretending so we don't worry, but it's the only thing I can think about. Has my uncle been to see her yet?

Shauna: I'm not sure he's planning to at all.

Charlie: Just what my mom doesn't need right now -- uncle devon ghosting her.

Shauna: I'm sorry it's so hard. I wish I could do something.

Devon: Forgot my backup drive. And you guys have obviously forgotten what I thought you learned.

Billy: That dude from liverpool, did you see his face when I went all-in?

Phyllis: Wiped out, totally.

[ Both laugh ]

[ Cellphone rings ]

Billy: So good.

Phyllis: It's lauren. Okay. I can't keep dodging her.

Billy: [ Groans ]

Phyllis: Okay. Hey, there.

Lauren: Good. You're alive.

Phyllis: Yeah. Hi. [ Chuckles ] Oh, my gosh. My travel plans, they totally got just -- they're -- well, you know what, they're, like, victim to this entire thunderstorm that's moved in.

Billy: Oh, thunderstorm?

Phyllis: Stop, stop, stop, stop.

Lauren: Stop what? I didn't say anything.

Phyllis: Oh, no, no. Not you. Um... I am gonna be home tonight, um, and available to you tomorrow first thing.

Lauren: I would really appreciate that. Because we have a lot to discuss.

Phyllis: Okay. Thank you for understanding. Absolutely. Okay. Bye, lauren.

Billy: Did she buy it?

Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, she did. Yes, everything is handled. No problem.

Billy: Fantastic.

Lauren: She's in so much trouble. You're right. She's with billy. I heard them whispering in the background. This isn't the first time that they've made excuses when she hasn't shown up for work. Jack, she's, uh -- she's my right hand. I have given her a ton of responsibility. I thought I could rely on her. What if I can't? I mean, what am i supposed to do?

Jack: I wish I had the answer, darlin'. As you can see, my plate's already a bit full.

Lauren: What's with that picture?

Jack: Oh. Part of my ongoing paternity quest. I have reason to think my father is in this picture.

Lauren: My father is in this picture.

Jack: What?

Lauren: Yeah. That's a young neil fenmore.

Jack: Could it be...?

Lauren: It sure as hell better not be.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Devon: So why would you guys be trying to do this again? Not only is it stupid and reckless, it's extremely disrespectful to hilary's memory.

Shauna: We didn't mean it to be. Or plan it.

Charlie: It was my fault. Look, I didn't call or text. I just showed up and barged in. Shauna was about to go. She asked me to leave.

Shauna: Charlie just wanted to talk. He isn't doing well. He's really messed up.

Devon: All right. You get to school. Please. It's just us, man. What's going on?

Charlie: Uncle devon, I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't go to school. I can't pretend like this is any normal september. I -- I think I'm just gonna suffer for every minute of my mom's 12-month sentence. And I-I deserve to.

Devon: Why would you say that?

Charlie: Because this is all my fault.

Devon: Charlie... come on, man.

Phyllis: I think we really do need to get to the airport, confirm our flight. God forbid there are any thunderstorms, actually, that delay us. Lauren would be furious with me.

Billy: I think I know what you're feeling right now. It's like bluffing with a pair of 3'S. But here's the thing, babe, you're still in the game, right? You're still on vacation. You just got to go with the flow now.

Phyllis: Babe, if you think that we are gonna take another dalliance at the poker table, I don't think so. I have a job. It's in corporate america. And I do cherish it.

Billy: But it's all the same thing. That's what I'm talking about. Listen, how many entrepreneurs have you heard say that their idea was too risky, right, or -- or -- or that they're being reckless? To me, reckless means fearless. That's how I'm running jabot. That's what you got to do. You got to roll the dice a little bit. You got to risk a little bit in order to win big. You know what I'm saying?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. [ Chuckles ]

Billy: And look at that. Look at that!

Phyllis: What? What? Oh!

Billy: We missed one. We almost left this behind. I guess we were just a little bit distracted.

Phyllis: Hmm.

Billy: But I still think that we are a hell of a team.

Phyllis: Really?

[ Laughs ] I'm keeping this.

Billy: Mm. You can keep all of it.

Victor: Now, mr. Rosales, you are arturo's brother, right?

Rey: Mm-hmm.

Victor: You know, the more I get to know you, the less you seem like your brother.

Rey: Hmm. Arturo's a stubborn guy.

Victor: Mm.

Rey: Always has been. Our father wasn't around, so it was up to me to raise my younger siblings. Make rules. Enforce them. All that unpopular parental stuff. There was enough of an age difference between me and arturo for him to resent me.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Rey: I bet you know how it is when men in the family bump heads.

Nikki: Oh, yes, we do.

[ Chuckles ]

Victor: I've had my public battles with my sons, yes.

Rey: And I promise not to take sides. At least not during lunch. In the brief time I spent with your son nick, he seemed like a driven, serious, stand-up kind of guy. Will you both be going to the dark horse launch party tomorrow night?

Victor: What party is that? I didn't know about that.

Nikki: Well, I did realize there would be an official launch. I didn't expect it to be so soon.

Rey: [ Sighs ] Please, forgive me. You -- you stick me at a table with two fascinating people, I'm guaranteed to say too much.

Victor: Well, now, that launch is clearly no secret.

Nikki: As usual, the parents are the last to know.

Rey: And I feel bad about being the messenger. Clearly you both want to celebrate nick's achievement with him. And I got to think, whatever reason for the non-invites, deep down, nick probably wants the same thing.

Nikki: I want to believe that, too.

Rey: Well, maybe tomorrow night everybody can put their issues aside and give it up for nick. Whatever problems exist between you, you still must be proud of your son.

Victor: Family relations are more complex than meets the eye to an outsider.

Jack: I did not know that neil fenmore was in this picture.

Lauren: Which dina kept locked in a vault for decades. Any idea why?

Jack: My best guess is that my mother and my biological father were in the same picture. She always thought it was phillip chancellor.

Lauren: Only it wasn'T.

Jack: Disproven by dna.

Lauren: All right. Now we've got to get neil fenmore off this list.

Jack: I would agree with that, one way or the other.

Lauren: [ Scoffs ] "The other"? Oh, no, no, there is no "other." We are not siblings, jack.

Jack: I'm not saying I'm your long-lost bro--

Lauren: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. This is not one of your schemes, is it? You're not planning to stake a claim on fenmore's, right?

Jack: Geez, you sound like jill.

Lauren: Jill. My half-sister. And yours, too, according to this lunatic theory.

Jack: See the date on this photo? That would have been the month that I was conceived. Neil knew my mother. He was in the right place at the right time.

Lauren: There is nothing right about this.

Jack: We can't ignore the possibility. We can eliminate the possibility. Come with me to my doctor. We will do a dna test.

Lauren: Are you kidding? I can't wait around for test results. There's no way. I will lose my mind. Or what's left of my mind. No, no, no. We are gonna find a shortcut, and we have to do it right now, because I am not leaving your side until we prove that jill and I both did not sleep with our half-brother.

Devon: Listen, no one wants you taking this all on yourself.

Charlie: But I'm to blame for everything that happened that day. For being alone with shauna, for -- for not speaking up with the truth about the accident --

Devon: Charlie -- charlie. Charlie, I could play the blame game all day long. I was out of town during that time, when I should have been here, laying down the ground rules for you and shauna. Or how I behaved afterwards. I made your mom's punishment even worse.

Charlie: Are you gonna go see her?

Devon: I-I don't think that'd be a good idea.

Charlie: How can you even say that? I mean, my mom needs all the support she can get right now.

Devon: I know she does. And she has support, charlie. I'm just not the best person for it.

Charlie: You still blame her for what happened?

Devon: We don't need to talk about this.

Charlie: Yes, we do. I do. Look, please?

Devon: Charlie, losing my wife and my child, it really changed me a lot. And to forgive and forget something like that, I don't even know what those words mean to me anymore.

Charlie: Me neither. I-I can't forget. I can't forgive myself for anything that happened that day.

Devon: Well, you need to, because it's very different.

Charlie: No, it's not. We would both give anything we could to change what happened that day, and we can'T.

Devon: [ Sighs ] Well, charlie, I'll tell you what we can do, and that's get your senior year started off right, in school, where you belong.

Charlie: Then let's make a deal. I'll go to school if you visit my mom.

Mariah: You can understand where devon is coming from, I hope. He does have reason to doubt you.

Tessa: I know. I just wish you didn'T.

Mariah: Hey, did I say that?

Tessa: You don't have to, okay? I can tell how uneasy this whole thing makes you. With good cause. I mean, we've been through so many screw-ups together, and here's another one. I should have never gone to devon for money. It was a desperation move. All I keep thinking about is how easy it would be for him to help. I mean, he wouldn't even miss the cash. Instead, he gets me in trouble with you.

Mariah: You're not in trouble.

Tessa: Not exactly the winning words to start a new relationship. And here I am, making you say them.

Mariah: Tessa, I just want to help.

Tessa: I know. Because you are the most loyal, open-hearted, incredible girl in the world. Who deserves a fresh start. The one I tried to give us when I came back and chose you.

Mariah: Hey. I chose you, too. Okay? I'm in this for the long haul. So we're gonna figure this out. Together.

Tessa: Okay. Well, I'm headed to the bookstore.

Mariah: I'll be here.

Sharon: Anything wrong?

Mariah: Tessa needs money.

Sharon: Taken care of. Didn't she tell you? I advanced her a month's salary.

Mariah: That's amazing of you. And thank you so, so much for that. Um... she needs a lot more cash than that.

Jack: Come up with any shortcuts?

Lauren: Hold on. Yes. Yes! We can do this with blood type.

Jack: Shall I fetch ashley's chemistry set from the attic?

Lauren: No pricks or punctures required -- for now.

Jack: Doesn't sound very scientific.

Lauren: Okay, could you bear with me? We may have found a solution. Now, my father's blood type was "A."

Jack: So is my mother'S. I know this for a fact. I saw her medical records.

Lauren: Put that in. And what was yours?

Jack: Type "B."

Lauren: As in "better not be my brother."

Jack: Ha, ha.

Lauren: Okay! "A" plus "a" does not equal "B." Look at that! "Two parents with a blood type of 'a' cannot produce a child with blood-type 'B.'" You are off the hook. Oh! We both are. No offense.

Jack: You sure?

Lauren: [ Scoffs ] We can go and do the dna test now if you really want to. But I'm good, and my life can pick back up from where it stopped when I saw this picture.

Jack: And I can get back to mine -- facing one big question mark.

Lauren: Oh, come on. There has to be part of you that's relieved.

Jack: Yeah, a little bit of me is. But I still don't know who my biological father is. Phillip chancellor's out. Neil fenmore's out. I don't even know who these other guys are.

Lauren: Oh. Actually, I know one of them.

Billy: Oh, my god.

Phyllis: Wow.

Billy: Exactly. I mean, this is just...

[ Laughs ] Whew! We just --

Phyllis: [ Laughs ]

Billy: We just crossed a barrier.

Phyllis: If you're referring to the tip we're gonna leave the chambermaid...

Billy: No, no. This is -- this is bigger. This is, uh --

Phyllis: Whew!

Billy: This is bolder. I mean, this is -- my god. That feeling anyone would have when you discover that you don't have to hold back anymore. That you can live your true, authentic self. Because you're with somebody that not only allows it, but they cultivate it, they inspire it. That is me right now with you. My god!

[ Phyllis giggles ] I, uh... [ Sighs ] I think it's a gift, and I promise you that I'm gonna give it back to you. And I know that -- well, I feel like other men in your life tried to dim that big, beautiful light that you are. They tried to get you to act a certain way. And I'm never gonna do that to you. I want you to shine bright every second we're together.

Phyllis: No one's ever told me that in quite the same way.

Billy: There's only one you and me, baby. That means no playbook.

[ Cellphone chimes ] What's that?

Phyllis: I think it's somewhere, here.

Billy: Is it...

Phyllis: Oh. Hello.

Billy: Wow.

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: It's the poker-tournament people. They want me back next weekend! "You are a contender."

Phyllis: Well, I could have told you that.

Billy: Oh, yes! But now vegas knows. Now the poker world knows. And now the universe knows it. This is a sign, baby. This is so good. Mm! Oh, my -- whoo!

Jack: So, that guy right there is stuart brooks?

Lauren: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. He was the former editor and publisher of the genoa city --

Jack: I know who he was. I just haven't seen a picture of him quite that young.

Lauren: Well, it's him, believe me. He and my father went way back. Oh.

Jack: What?

Lauren: So, did you sleep with any of stuart brooks' daughters? And, I mean, how many? 'Cause there were several.

Jack: I dated peggy. Don't ask. My mother wasn't around to warn me.

Lauren: Ugh. All right. Well, let's just hope we can take him off this list, too.

Jack: Well, we're running out of candidates fast.

Lauren: You know, all these guys were my father's friends. I met them, or they popped up in my parents' photo albums. You know, except for this guy. I don't know him. I-I don't recognize him at all.

Jack: Then I have to find out his name. And whether he had a connection with my mother.

Mariah: So, now you understand why tessa is in this bind. She is being threatened by extortionists who have no fear of the law.

Sharon: That's a horrible story. Terrible. If that's really what's going on.

Mariah: It is. Tessa told me. You don't believe her.

Sharon: I want to just as much as you do. But why doesn't she just report these people who are threatening her to the police?

Mariah: Because of what they did. Smuggling tessa's sister over the border could get tessa into big trouble for her involvement. Plus, if these guys found out, who knows what they'd do?

Sharon: Okay. Let's just step back and review tessa's past behavior. She's lied. She's hurt people. She's broken hearts, including yours and noah'S. Do we really have any proof that she's telling the truth right now?

Mariah: Because I believe her. At least I want to, so badly. I mean, we all saw her fight to save her sister. I mean, that was real. And now she has come back to build a relationship with me. Why can't that be real, too?

Sharon: Honey, maybe it is. I-I really hope that it is. But, you know, I just want to protect you. And sometimes our feelings are so strong, and they're so important to us, that it blinds us to the truth. So I just want you to take an objective and a critical look at this... and get the right answer.

Mariah: Did tessa come back for me... or for money?

Victor: Thank you for joining us, mr. Rosales.

Rey: Thank you for the hospitality and conversation. I'm gonna hate having to turn my phone back on. I hope to see you both soon.

Victor: All right. Seems agreeable enough.

Nikki: Even when he started to give you advice on how to handle nicholas?

Victor: [ Laughs ] Oh, yeah. Rather presumptuous, wasn't it?

Nikki: Inquisitive, too.

Victor: To say the least. But I trust him more than i trust his brother with my daughter. Unless you, of course, think that there's some reason that we shouldn't trust him.

Nikki: It's just a vague intuition. I don't know. Just something about the guy that bothers me.

Rey: Yeah. That's right. I'm making my move. Tomorrow.
