Billy: You know, you decided to take time to figure out if you wanted me to come home. I'm gonna take time to decide if I want to.

Nick: Come work at dark horse. Help me my dream a reality.

Abby: I'm in, nick. I want to do this.

Mariah: I'm gonna go home, see sharon for one last time, and then goodbye, genoa city.

Devon: With this ring, I thee wed, pledging my eternal love for you.

Hilary: Like this circle, has no beginning and no end.

Hilary: Thank you for the most beautiful wedding day. It's more than I could have dreamed of.

Devon: And now for the perfect wedding night.

Hilary: I'm just happy that i get to spend the rest of my life with you.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ]

[ Doorbell rings ]

Phyllis: Hey, there.

Lauren: Is billy here?

Phyllis: No, why?

Lauren: He wasn't at the office, and I was hoping to find him here.

Phyllis: Is everything okay?

Lauren: [ Sighs ] I was supposed to have a meeting with him about the fenmore's feasibility study, and of course, he's nowhere to be found. So... this study, have you read it?

Phyllis: I haven't checked my work e-mails at all. I just got back from the hospital.

Lauren: Oh, my god, that's right. I'm sorry, I should have asked. How was the wedding?

Phyllis: It was beautiful. It was beautiful. The dress was lovely. Thank you.

Lauren: I hope she felt like a princess.

Phyllis: She did. She was very happy. She was very brave. It was so heartbreaking. Devon married her in the icu because that was their last chance to make it official.

Lauren: I had no idea. Please tell me that billy was there holding your hand.

Phyllis: No. I texted him. No answer.

Lauren: [ Sighs ] Okay. This is so not happening. You and me, we're going to the club.

Phyllis: What?

Lauren: Yeah, the rooftop is still open. We are getting drinks. And don't even think about saying no to me.

[ Door slams ]

Kyle: Hey. You already back from the wedding? Dad told me about hilary and devon getting married. Since you left the office early, I just figured...

Billy: It was a, uh, family, close friend kind of thing. I didn't want to crowd them. Plus, I brought home so work that I had to finish up. But now that I'm done, I think it's time to blow off some steam. You in?

Sharon: Tessa!

Tessa: Hi.

Sharon: What can I get for you?

Tessa: I was thinking two brownies.

Sharon: Of course. Mariah's favorite. Mariah told me you two are moving forward with your relationship.

Tessa: Yeah.

Sharon: She's so happy. And afraid. Because when you've wanted something so badly, there's this underlying fear that it could be taken away from you in an instant.

Tessa: Yeah. Yeah. I, uh -- I know how she feels.

Sharon: I don't know that you do. Because the last time mariah fell for you, it turned her world upside-down. I mean, she was ready to take that leap, but then you told her she was wrong about everything, that it was all one-sided and you didn't feel the same way as she did.

Tessa: I lied to mariah when I said I didn't care about her. My life was so complicated, and the idea of bringing her into it, I just... I couldn't do that to her because I did care.

Sharon: And now?

Tessa: I mean, there are no lies left. I mean, mariah knows everything, and she -- she still wants to be with me. And I know how lucky I am. And I promise you, I will always protect mariah, always treat her with kindness, and never hurt her.

Sharon: I just want what every mother wants for her child, for her to be happy, healthy, and safe.

Nick: Good, uh, just cc the board. Yeah, let's, uh... let's get their reaction. Cool. Talk soon. Hey.

Mariah: Hey.

Nick: Uh, how are you doing? How was the wedding?

Mariah: It was beautiful, and there was this quiet joy that i didn't really expect. But I realized that that was gonna be the last time that i saw hilary.

Nick: I'm so sorry. Just -- just know that I'm gonna be there for you, okay?

Mariah: No, no, you -- you've got your plate full.

Nick: Look, dark horse is a means to an end. To look out for my family. And that includes you.

Mariah: Because you're marrying sharon.

Nick: Mariah, you do know that we all love you, right? It's not because of a wedding or because of cassie. It's because of who you are. That's it. Whatever you need, just let me know, okay?

Nick: We don't have to do this right now. I didn't know how bad things were for hilary when I asked for this meeting.

Jack: Devon doesn't want hilary to know -- he just wants to give her as much happiness as he can.

Nick: I saw mariah after the ceremony. She look shell-shocked. So do you.

Jack: Then give me some work to focus on.

Nick: Okay, uh, first bit of pressing business is I met with neil. Power communications -- I wanted him to come onboard and handle pr for dark horse. He turned me down.

Abby: Because of dad? Well, this is great. Not that neil turned us down, but I was wondering how I could be of most use to dark horse.

Nick: You want to handle public relations for us?

Abby: You have to admit, the whole "naked heiress" thing was inspired branding. And I do have a ton of experience in marketing and pr. I can bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table. But, hey, don't take my word for it. I'll draw up a proposal and get it to you by monday.

Nick: You know what, I can't wait that long. I want you to hit the ground running here and now. Let's show 'em what we can do.

Devon: It's not the most traditional wedding night.

Hilary: [ Chuckles ] When have we ever done anything -- anything -- the traditional way?

Devon: I think there's been too much love between us to ever follow any rules. Even when I couldn't admit how i felt.

Hilary: You thought you hid it so well.

Devon: I think I did a great job.

Hilary: Not for one second.

Devon: Mnh-mnh. You think you knew?

Hilary: I just know. I felt it.

Devon: Really?

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Devon: Well, that's good, then. 'Cause otherwise, all that wasted time.

Hilary: You're my husband. I'm your wife. We wasted nothing.

Victor: Well, now, this is quite the crack team you have assembled for your start-up.

Abby: Thanks, dad. If I ever wondered what you thought about me...

Victor: Mm.

Nick: It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't have someone's giant ego holding you back. You know, maybe it's why we've attracted so many of your former customers and employees.

Victoria: Stolen I think is the word you're looking for.

Victor: In the most underhanded way possible.

Nikki: Well, when you invited me to a meeting, I didn't realized I'd need a flak jacket.

Billy: Well, well, well. Looks like a little family fun for the newmans with a little abbott spice sprinkled in for flavor, huh? If I could have your attention, people of the club, as a gesture of goodwill, for the next half-hour, drinks are on jabot. Please, enjoy!

Kyle: You should have gone to the gym like you planned.

Summer: Not a chance, okay? I live for this stuff.

Jack: Hey. What was that about?

Billy: Community spirit.

Jack: You're in devon's hotel while he's in the icu with his wife. Phyllis needed you at hilary's wedding, and you couldn't be bothered. Now you're walking around here like some frat boy? Geez, you can't show enough human decency?

Billy: Save your lecture for the one that's gonna pay for it, okay? And stay out of my personal life.

Devon: Well, you know, I got, uh, special medical clearance for this champagne.

Hilary: I'm sure you did.

Devon: I did. It's our wedding night. I couldn't let these go empty.

Hilary: It was sweet of shauna to get us these. For today, and all our anniversaries.

Devon: Mm.

Hilary: What about you?

Devon: [ Chuckles ] Mmm.

Hilary: [ Chuckles ]

Devon: I think I'm gonna have to get a special case for these flutes. So we can cart them around the world for our anniversary.

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Devon: When we picnic on the sand of nova scotia.

Hilary: Ooh. [ Chuckles ]

Devon: When we go canoeing in sri lanka. On the canals of copenhagen. That sound good?

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I think you might have to wear a scarf and sunglasses, though. I don't need my famous wife getting mobbed on our anniversary. Any other day of the year, fans can have a piece of you, but on that special day, you're all mine.

Hilary: Not just that day. Every day. What about, um...all of those people passing cds to you so that you can you produce them? God, will we ever eat in peace?

[ Chuckles ]

Devon: You know, I don't think I'll mind the paparazzi. But our children -- they're gonna be off-limits.

Hilary: Yeah?

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Hilary: Our "hevon" babies?

Devon: Some we make, some we adopt.

Hilary: But we love them all like crazy. Okay. Let's be real, though.

Devon: What?

Hilary: How much fighting will we do?

Devon: [ Chuckles ] I don't know, but we'll be doing a lot of making up.

Hilary: [ Chuckles ]

Devon: And we'll know that we can get through it. Because we're forever. Just you and me.

Hilary: We don't have much time.

Sharon: Hi, sweetheart. I just had a talk with tessa.

Mariah: You...?

Sharon: She really cares about you. So much.

Mariah: She told you that?

Sharon: I think whatever walls she had with you, with all of us, they're gone now. She's really committed to you.

Mariah: Yeah, she is. And it feels exactly how I would have hoped.

Sharon: Well, then... tessa's part of the extended family now. I wanted you both to know that. I was thinking about asking her to be a bridesmaid at the wedding. Since you're the maid of honor, what do you think?

Mariah: Wow, I -- yeah. I think... I think that would be great.

Sharon: All right. Great. All right, I'm gonna go upstairs and relieve the babysitter.

Mariah: Okay.

Billy: Can I get another, please?

Lauren: What are you doing?

Billy: Thank you. Enjoying a drink, along with everybody else here.

Lauren: You are incredible.

Billy: Well, thank you, lauren. I enjoy being an ambassador of goodwill.

Lauren: Please.

Billy: Oh, is this about the feasibility study?

Lauren: No. This is about you being a soulless jackass in front of phyllis, but you want to talk about work?

Billy: Not really.

Lauren: Yeah, let's talk about the feasibility study, okay? And the profit margins and -- oh, yeah, the real estate values of all of fenmore's brick-and-mortar stores. What's your plan, billy? You gonna shut me down and then sell off all the properties?

Billy: I'm collecting data and weighing my options. That's what a C.E.O. Does.

Lauren: [ Scoffs ]

Phyllis: So, did you get this idea for the study when i invited you to get out of my place?

Billy: Technically, it's summer's place.

Phyllis: I know what you're doing. You're using fenmore's to push me out!

Victor: You're very clever, you're very bright, you're very creative. I can think of no one better qualified to run the newman real estate division than you.

Nikki: [ Gasps ] This is not at all what I expected. I mean, stepping in when needed is one thing, but taking on a permanent position, that's quite another. What do you think about all this?

Victoria: Honestly, um... I think it's inspirational. You have so many connections, and you have a keen sense of value and potential. And think of the optics -- newman family solidarity. It's like a gold mine.

Nikki: Yes, but the whole family isn't at newman, is it?

Victor: Mm.

Nikki: Nicholas and I have been working as partners. And now you suddenly want to pit me directly against our son.

Victor: Mm.

Nikki: So, tell me... how much of this is my skill set, and how much of this is spite?

Jack: Yeah. We'll pick this up later, okay?

Nick: Okay.

Jack: You ready?

Abby: Yeah.

Nikki: From what i understand, nicholas has gutted the real estate division, as well as doing damage to newman as a whole. Asking me to be directly involved in recovery --

Victor: Listen to me. I know that you're a fighter, and you will do what it takes to best our son and the rest of the competition.

Victoria: I wouldn't have phrased it quite like that, but I'd understand if it didn't work for you.

Nikki: No, no, no, no. Don't misread me. I'm in.

Victor: Good.

Nikki: Because I know that you think that's the only way to beat nicholas. It's not, though. We can strengthen newman, we can rebuild my new division, we can do all of that without taking the family to war.

Phyllis: You want to shove me out of your life, that's fine. But do not use fenmore's to do it. But you know what, that would make you too decent of a guy, right? Because you're the type of guy who couldn't even bother to show up to hilary and devon's wedding. One hour of your time, even less. You couldn't do that for me. You couldn't give me that much, could you?

Billy: I'm confused. Are we friends, chums? I mean, you kicked me out.

Phyllis: I invited you back in.

Billy: Right, because it's your call. Whether I stay, whether I go, where I live, how I run my business, I have to clear everything with you. Yeah, no. That's not how it works.

Nick: You know, your leadership is something to behold.

Billy: You have an empty building with a bunch of staff members you snaked from daddy, okay? You're not in a position to pass judgment, nick.

Nick: We're a new company, but we have the capital to seize every opportunity we want. Which, lauren, maybe fenmore's would be a better fit with dark horse, if an attentive partner is something you're looking for.

Summer: Dad, did you just threaten to steal business from jabot?

Devon: Are you in any pain, honey? I'll get the nurse for you.

Hilary: [ Sighs ] No.

Devon: You sure?

Hilary: It's okay. It's okay.

Devon: If there's anything --

Hilary: Devon. We both know how bad this is. It's fine. I know you're just trying to protect me.

Devon: That's all I wanted to do. I should have told you when nate told me. I'm sorry I didn't do that.

Hilary: I know now. And today was wonderful. Ugh, even in this place. There was so much love.

Devon: I don't remember not loving you. I feel like every part of me only works 'cause you're here. You're the reason why I wake up in the morning. And it's been that way for i don't know how long. When things happened for us, i remember feeling like this is what people meant when they talk about love.

Hilary: You know what I think about when I look at you?

Devon: What?

Hilary: Seven-layer bars.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Hilary: [ Chuckles ] When you told me that your grandmother taught you how to make them... I was a goner.

[ Chuckles ]

Devon: You know what I think about when I look at you?

Hilary: Hmm?

Devon: That same night, when we were stuck in the middle of nowhere, and you told me that you were afraid of cows. You told me about the constellations.

Hilary: And we danced under the stars.

Devon: That's right.

Hilary: You have to promise me something.

Devon: Anything.

Hilary: I want a big service. And I want it --

Devon: [ Crying ]

Hilary: And I want it to be a celebration, okay? I don't want it to be sad and depressing. And everybody -- everybody better wear hats.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Hilary: Like a royal wedding.

Devon: [ Chuckles ] That's what you want, honey?

Hilary: And then later, after... I need you to move on.

Devon: Why you doing this?

Hilary: Because there is some amazing woman out there that is gonna make you smile again, and she's gonna drive you crazy. Those visions that you have, raising kids and... and a family... you have to do that. You have to do that for me.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Hilary: This world needs more fathers like you.

Devon: I don't think I can do that.

Hilary: Look at me. I'm blessed. I had a blessed life. I had my show, I got to call you my husband, and I heard my -- my child's heartbeat. All of my dreams came true. They did. Your dreams, they can't end with me.

Devon: [ Crying ]

Tessa: [ Sighs ]

[ Car door opens ]

Mariah: Hey.

Tessa: You were making me nervous. I thought you weren't gonna show.

Mariah: Do you really think i would do that? Just stay away without saying anything?

Tessa: But, uh... you're not coming with me. You didn't bring a bag.

Mariah: I was ready. I promise you, I was. Everything that I said to you was true. And every moment, every second that I have spent with you, even the awful ones...

Tessa: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: They've been so real. They made me. They did. They turned me into this new person. I mean, you knew who I was. It was easier to be a smartass than to connect with people. But with you... I didn't have a choice. I didn'T. I had to feel. And now I can't stop feeling.

Tessa: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: I care about things now. They matter me -- relationships, priorities, goals...

Tessa: And for you, all that is here.

Mariah: You need to find your sister. I know. And when I first came to genoa city, I would have laughed at something like that because i didn't understand. I didn't have a family. Not a real one. And now I do. I have a mom. I have the greatest mom in the world who's about to marry this amazing guy who loves me, even though he doesn't have to. I have a little sister who is two seconds away from being a teenager. I have a little brother who would forget me if I left now. I have friends. Real friends. Like devon. Did I tell you that hilary asked me to look after him?

Tessa: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: She trusts me with looking after her husband and her show.

Tessa: Because she knows you, and she knows that you're a good friend.

Mariah: And you're my friend, too. But you are also so much more.

[ Sniffles ] I'm not giving up on you. I'm not. Maybe there's a time where you and crystal can come back to genoa city, but until then, we can text or we can write each other, and I promise you --

Tessa: Mariah. Mariah. We can'T. This is how it has to be. There are people out there who still want to hurt my sister, and I won't put you in their path.

Mariah: I can't move on.

Tessa: I would die if anything happens to you.

Mariah: I have never felt like this about anybody in my life before. I love you.

Tessa: I know. And I swear, it makes my heart want to burst. But what you have inside of you, it's -- it's special. So save it. Give it to someone amazing, someone who will give you all the love that you deserve. But make sure that they're worth it, and then open your heart all the way. Because it's so beautiful.

Mariah: [ Sighs ] Take this.

Tessa: Your journal?

Mariah: Yeah. You want to talk about my heart, this is it. So take it and read it, and i just want to remember how much you mean to me.

Tessa: Mariah, I --

[ Sobbing ]

[ Engine turns on ]

Billy: In case you think i give a damn about anything you say, I don'T. So just stay out of my business.

Nick: Yeah, that's a little tricky considering the way you're behaving in public. I'm sure the jabot board is very pleased with the face you're putting on the company.

Summer: Okay, dad, billy is actually a really great C.E.O.

Nick: Oh, yeah? How is he as a human being? Or as an influence on her? See, I'm not okay with that. I heard about the gambling.

Billy: Oh, you heard?

Nick: Yeah. It affects my kid.

Billy: Your kid is a grown woman, but you treat her like a 12-year-old, which is going really well, by the way.

Nick: She is better off without you around. And, frankly, so is phyllis.

Billy: [ Scoffs ] Are you getting territorial now, nicky? Huh, big guy? What are you gonna do, you gonna shave this off, keep your mustache, maybe twirl it up a little bit on the ends?

Nick: You're self-destructing, billy. It's what you always do. You get handed some job or some relationship that you don't deserve, and then you spin out and do everything you can to make sure it crashes and burns. Well, what's the problem this time, billy? Is it because you can't fill jack's shoes so you want to bring the family name down with you, and the company? John abbott had one biological son, and you're not worth the abbott name.

Phyllis: No! Stop! Stop it!

Lauren: Stop it, you two!

Phyllis: Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop right now! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Now!

Lauren: Okay, all right. Enough!

Phyllis: Stop it!

Nikki: Oh, dear god.

Nick: We're done, right?

Phyllis: Stop it!

Nick: No, we're done. We're done.

Billy: We're done.

Nick: Let's make sure we're clear on something -- you don't want me for an enemy.

Hilary: Can't sleep?

Devon: Just too busy watching you.

Hilary: There's so much more I need to say.

Devon: Honey, honey. You don't have to say anything at all.

Hilary: Don't let lily blame herself. Or charlie. And shauna -- shauna is so special, devon. She'll need someone, okay? She'll -- she'll need you.

Devon: I'll be right there for her.

Hilary: I guess I'm leaving you with a child after all.

[ Chuckles ]

Devon: Honey. Whatever you think you need to say, you don't have to.

Hilary: You have to know -- whatever I thought that i wanted... there was only one thing that i needed. It was you.

Devon: You always had me. And you always will. I meant it when I gave you this on christmas. You were still with neil, but i just wanted you to know that you had my love. You'd have it forever. That's never changed.

Hilary: Felt it then. I feel it now.

[ Whimpers ] Maybe... maybe I did do something right, huh?

Devon: I love you.

Hilary: Promise me you'll come back.

Devon: You looking at anything in particular?

Hilary: The pleiades. The seven sisters.

Devon: You told me that their father was atlas. He couldn't protect them because he was too busy holding up the world. So the king of gods felt moved to help him. And so he set the sisters free. Then he turned them into doves, and then... into all the stars in the sky.

[ Sobbing ] Honey...
