Mariah: It was great. Awesome. Perfect. Until tessa snuck off to be with another girl.

Lily: Charlie would never do this unless shauna pushed for it. I did not raise my son that way!

Hilary: Oh!

Charlie: Stop! Both of you! Look, she's gone.

Hilary: What? Where did...

Charlie: You were both so busy arguing you didn't notice how upset she was! Look, I have to find her.

Lily: Wait, charlie!

Hilary: [ Groans ] Ugh, I am so sick of you and your sanctimonious crap! You acting like you and your little family is so perfect!

Devon: Were you hooking up? That's what set off this whole nightmare that I'm living right now, is you guys hooking up?

Nate: I'm so sorry, devon. You're gonna have to prepare yourself. I don't think hilary's gonna make it.

Mariah: Welcome back to a special live edition of gc buzz. On the break, I had a chance to look at our website, and I was overwhelmed by what I saw. Thousands of you reached out with your love, your support, and your best wishes for a speedy recovery. I was truly moved by what I saw, and I know that hilary will be, too. There was so much love shining from every word, and that is exactly what hilary needs. I know that it'll make all the difference for her. It has to.

Nate: Do you understand what I just told you?

Devon: Yeah, I do. I do, nate.

Nate: Okay.

Devon: You don't think that hilary's gonna make it, which isn't the same as being sure. So there's a chance that she could make it through this, even if you have to do something drastic.

Nate: I am afraid we're all out of options. And that is not something I say lightly.

Devon: Okay, then don't say it.

Nate: I've been as aggressive as I know how addressing this complication.

Devon: This is a clotting issue, you said, right?

Nate: Yes.

Devon: That's a common thing, okay? There has to be a protocol or an experimental trial or something that you can do.

Nate: There isn't, okay? There isn't, and I'm sorry. Listen, barring a miracle that goes beyond medicine, nothing and no one can save her.

Mattie: I like that idea. As soon as we get to memorial, I'll head straight down to the blood bank. Even if I'm not a match for hilary, I'll feel like I'm at least doing my part.

Charlie: [ Sighs ]

Devon: I need a solution, nate. I need you to tell me that she can have another surgery that can help her.

Nate: I wish I could give you the answers you want to hear. I do, but I can'T.

Devon: Then what can you do? What can we do right now for her?

Nate: Enjoy the time you have left together. Make every moment count. Not that long ago, I was in your shoes. I heard the same exact words about the love of my life. "There isn't any hope, we've done all we can do." Listen, I didn't want to hear it, either, but there comes a time when you have to stop denying reality and accept what is, or you will miss out on one of the most profound experiences two human beings will ever share. I'm glad I knew. It made my final hours with carolyn all that much more meaningful. We laughed together. We cried together. And we were at peace. Together. There was nothing left unsaid between us. And later -- much later -- and that's okay, too, that it may bring you some comfort. Now, there aren't any words that I'm gonna say or anybody else that's gonna make this easier for you, but you lean on family. And you let them support you. And I will do everything humanly possible to make sure that hilary feels no pain.

Devon: How much time does she have?

Nate: That's not up to me. You got to make every moment count. I'll give you two some time.

Devon: Nate. Um, I don't want hilary to know about this.

Nate: I hope you rethink that. Because every patient deserves to know the truth. Gives them time to put their affairs in order, make amends, and say their goodbyes.

Devon: I understand what you're saying, but if there is even a 1% chance that hilary can make it through this, then i don't want to take that hope away from her 'cause she needs to stay strong and she needs to fight. And who knows? Maybe we might get that miracle that you're talking about.

Nate: Whatever the two of you need, I'm here.

Devon: Thank you.

Mattie: How's hilary doing?

Charlie: If she's awake and she's able to see visitors, i want to tell her how sorry I am, you know, for everything. If I had just followed my mom's rules, none of this would have happened.

Devon: She's sleeping right now, but I'm sure she'd love to see you guys when she wakes up.

Lily: Hey, uh, why don't you guys go down to the gift shop and maybe get hilary a present? I'm sure it'll cheer her up.

Charlie: I'm sorry.

Mattie: Come on, charlie. Let's go.

Charlie: Yeah. Okay.

Lily: Hey. What's going on? And don't tell me nothing because I can see how upset you are. Have you talked to nate? I mean, has hilary had a setback? What's happening? Devon, talk to me. Please. Just tell me -- what is it?

[ Sighs ] No... no, it can't be. She has to be all right. No.

Devon: [ Sobbing ]

Devon: Hilary doesn't know about her condition. I just -- I'd like to keep it that way so she keeps hope, you know?

Lily: Okay. I promise I won't say anything to her or the kids.

Devon: You can tell cane if you need to.

Lily: All right. I'll tell him to keep it under wraps.

Devon: Thanks. I am... I'm gonna go check on her. How do I look?

Lily: Perfect.

Devon: Thank you. Hey.

Hilary: Mm.

Devon: Lily and the kids are here, and they would love to see you, if you feel up to it.

Hilary: I'm so glad that... lily and charlie weren't hurt.

Devon: No, they're fine.

Hilary: How's shauna?

Devon: She's okay. She feels guilty for running off the way she did, making you feel like you had to chase her.

Hilary: No, what happened, it wasn'T... mm. It wasn't her fault. It was mine.

Devon: No, it was no one's fault.

Hilary: Lily was driving, okay? I shouldn't have been arguing and distracting her.

[ Sighs ] Especially when she was right.

Devon: What was she right about?

Hilary: I was so wrapped up in my own life that I... I wasn't supervising shauna like I should have been.

Devon: You're being way too hard on yourself, honey.

Hilary: What if losing our baby is the universe's way of saying that... I don't deserve to be a mother?

Devon: Hilary. I don't ever want to hear you say something like that about yourself again. Do you hear me? You've been an amazing influence on shauna. And you're gonna be an incredible mom one day.

Hilary: You don't have to defend me anymore. You know, I know the only reason we reconciled was because of this baby, and now... I know you're too good of a guy to walk away when I'm in the hospital, okay? But I want you to know that once I'm recovered, I won't blame you if you leave. There's nothing holding us together.

Devon: You couldn't be more wrong.

Nate: Time to give you a once-over. How are you feeling?

Hilary: I've been better.

Nate: I hear that. All right, first, let's see what your chart has to say.

Hilary: Babe, if, um... if you have to leave, I'll understand, okay? I'm sure nate will take really good care of me.

Devon: Okay. You know what, there actually is somewhere I need to go, so I'm gonna take off for just a bit. But I'll be back soon, all right? You be good.

Hilary: Mm. I'll try.

Devon: Yeah, you try.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

Hilary: So.

Nate: So.

Hilary: How do my numbers look?

Nate: About what I'd expect.

Hilary: Is that good or bad?

Nate: Are you in any discomfort? I can up your pain medication.

Hilary: No.

Nate: No?

Hilary: I'd rather visit with people and actually remember things.

Lily: Hey. How'd it go?

Devon: Hi. She's awake, and she'd love to see you when nate's done examining her, but I need to take off.

Lily: Wait, you're -- you're gonna go out now?

Devon: I am. It's important. Just please stay with her. I won't be long, all right?

Lily: Uh...

Lily: Hey.

Hilary: Hey.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Hilary, I'M... I'm really sorry. I should have been focused on my driving, not fighting with you.

Hilary: It takes two, you know. It wasn't your fault, okay? It was an accident. Just simple as that.

Lily: No, you're -- you're letting me off too easy. Just let me have it, okay? I deserve it.

Hilary: Rain check. You know, I don't know if it's the pain meds or... I just... I just don't have it in me, okay?

Lily: [ Sighs ] I've given you so much grief over the years.

Hilary: Don't worry. It was with good reason.

Lily: Yeah, at first. Yeah. But then things changed, you know? You changed. And how come I couldn't realize sooner that you'd turn your life around, that you became this person that I could admire?

Hilary: You really mean that?

Lily: Yeah. I wouldn't say it if I didn'T. We've just been enemies for so long.

Hilary: I hope you know that that's -- that's not what i wanted.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Why can't two intelligent, talented women hold each other up instead of tearing each other down?

Hilary: Okay. Now I know you're just being nice to me because I am lying in this bed.

[ Chuckles ] In what universe does lily ashby admit that she's wrong?

Lily: I was wrong. I was really wrong. You know, the way I sabotaged you when you were trying really hard to get pregnant. I mean, I locked you in an office so you would miss your insemination appointment -- it's like, who does that? You know, and then shauna, it's like, instead of criticizing you, why couldn't I have just taken the time to help you learn to be a good role model for her, you know? Why did I have to fight you at every single turn instead of embracing you? And... I guess I'm just...trying to say that [Sniffles] Can you find a way in your heart to forgive me?

Hilary: Forgive? Sweetie, there is nothing to forgive, okay? I'm so excited. We're gonna be friends once i get out of here.

Mariah: Hey. Look who I found in the lobby.

Charlie: Hey.

Cane: Where is everyone?

Charlie: Uncle devon left. He said he had to head out. Mom's with hilary, and mattie's donating blood.

Jack: Good for her.

Charlie: Hey, dad, is it okay if I go see shauna? She feels terrible about the accident. She's not answering any of my texts.

Cane: Listen, um, we got a lot going on right now, so I'd really prefer if you'd stay close to the family, okay? And if I can be honest with you, I don't think shauna's a good influence for you, so just stay away from her for me, okay?

Jack: Hey. How's hilary?

Mariah: She awake? Have you talked to her?

Jack: What are her doctors saying? Any improvements?

Lily: Uh, she's doing as well as expected, and she was cracking some jokes, which I'll take as a good sign.

Cane: Yeah. That's good, right?

Jack: Can she have visitors outside of family?

Mariah: I'm dying to see her.

Lily: Um, I know that charlie wanted to see her, so if you guys just want to wait... where did he go?

Cane: [ Sighs ] Probably went to see shauna, against my advice.

Lily: Okay, uh, you know what, why don't you guys just go and we'll wait out here?

Jack: Okay, thanks.

Cane: All right, listen, um, I'm gonna go after charlie, okay?

Lily: Wait, don't -- don't leave. I -- I need you.

Cane: What's the matter? What's the matter, baby?

Lily: Devon doesn't want hilary to know, but... she's, um... she's not gonna...

Cane: She's not gonna what? Come here.

[ Lily sobbing ] Shh, it's okay.

Jack: All the more reason for you to get well soon so you can show her who's boss.

Hilary: Mm, because I stopped a speeding truck with my hard head?

Jack: Well, yeah, there's that, but, no, I was referring to your extraordinary spirit. Your soul. I'm just so glad we remained friends after you left jabot.

Hilary: Me, too.

Jack: I expect we're going to be listening to each other's woes and dishing out advice for, oh, 40 years or more to come.

Hilary: Mm, only 40?

Jack: Only 40. That's it. I'm putting down my foot.

Hilary: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: 40 years, that's it. Here's some un-asked-for advice now. Listen to your doctor. Do what he says so you can get the heck out of here. We all want you back on your feet A.S.A.P. You take care.

Hilary: Bye, jack.

[ Sighs ] What is with all the boo-hooing?

Mariah: [ Chuckles ] Uh, hospitals, you know? Always hated them. They get me like this.

Hilary: I see. Well, if I haven't said it before... thank you.

Mariah: For what?

Hilary: For making the show go on. One less thing for me to worry about.

Mariah: Devon told me that you lost the baby. And I'm so heartbroken for you both. I'm so sorry. I know how much you wanted to have a child together, and i would do anything -- anything to take away the pain right now.

Hilary: Thank you, mariah. That'S...

[ Sniffles ] That's really kind. It's been, uh... devastating for both of us.

Mariah: How could it not be?

Hilary: My biggest fear is... without the baby... I'm worried this is gonna be the beginning of the end for devon and me.

Devon: I beg to differ. You couldn't be more wrong about our future.

Mariah: Well, that is my cue to leave. I'll talk to you soon, okay?

[ Scoffs ] I can't believe you followed me here.

Tessa: Maybe I want to talk. And if I have to follow you all over town just to get you to listen to me --

Mariah: My boss... no, I'm sorry, my friend is in there in a very serious condition, and you come here and you don't even think about --

[ Sighs ] No, I'm not -- I'm not doing this, and I'm especially not doing this here. And don't follow me!

Mattie: Hey. How's hilary? Any changes?

Cane: Um, she woke up a little while ago if, um... if you want to go look in on her.

Mattie: Okay. Where's mom?

Cane: You just missed her. She went to give blood, too.

Mattie: That's cool.

Cane: I'm proud of you. For taking initiative and doing that, too.

Mattie: Seemed like the least I could do.

Cane: Yeah.

Mattie: Is charlie in the cafeteria, or something?

Cane: No. No, um... unfortunately, he, uh... he left a little while ago.

Mattie: Left? Left the hospital? To go where?

Cane: I have a pretty good idea. Excuse me a second.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Charlie: Look, dad, I know you told me to stay away from shauna, but she's in really rough shape because of what happened. She and hilary are so close, and I'm worried for her. I just want to be there for her. Nothing else, I swear.

Cane: Listen, I'm not happy about this.

Charlie: If I'm gonna be in trouble and you're gonna ground me or whatever, I'll deal, but I'm not leaving until I can make sure shauna's okay. This is important to me, dad.

Cane: We'll talk about this later, okay? I have to go.

[ Knocks on door ]

Charlie: Come on, shauna. It's me. Please open up. I'm worried about you.

Shauna: You probably shouldn't be here.

Charlie: Can I come in?

Shauna: After what happened last time, it seems like a bad idea.

Charlie: I didn't come here for that. I know you're upset about the accident, but with hilary being hurt so bad, most of her friends and family are at the hospital. Why aren't you?

Shauna: You're kidding, right?

Charlie: No, I'm not. You guys are tight.

Shauna: I can't face her, charlie.

Hilary: [ Exhaling sharply ] So, will you tell me now?

Nate: Tell you what?

Hilary: How I'm doing.

Nate: Nothing's changed.

Hilary: What? How bad is it? You keep -- you keep sidestepping the question.

Nate: For the time being, you're holding your own. And after what you've been through, I'll take it.

Hilary: So it's one of those "no news is good news" scenarios?

Nate: [ Clears throat ] I'll, uh -- I'll be back in a bit. Don't you run off anywhere.

Hilary: Mm. I'll be here.

[ Inhales sharply ] Could you, um...

Devon: Yeah. Yeah. Here you go.

Hilary: Thank you.

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Hilary: Ahh.

Devon: Good?

Hilary: I had a lot of visitors today.

Devon: Oh, you did?

Hilary: Mm-hmm. I had mariah and jack, and I had a lovely conversation with lily. She admitted that she was wrong for not supporting us as a couple.

Devon: That's nice.

Hilary: Devon. If you... if you meant what you said... about not leaving me... then I really do have a blessed life.

[ Sighs ]

Mariah: No, no. I don't -- i don't want to talk to you, okay? So just leave me alone! I just had to sit there and comfort hilary. She lost the baby, and she's been talking for months about how excited she was to be having devon's kid. Okay? And it broke my heart watching her try to be brave and to be strong, and it's unfair!

Tessa: No...

Mariah: No, please don't touch me, okay? Just save it for your girlfriend or whoever that was.

Tessa: Girlfriend?

Mariah: I am wrecked about hilary, all right, and I don't need to feel stupid, as well.

Tessa: What are you talking about? Besides you, there is no one else, man or woman.

Mariah: Okay, save it, all right? I don't want to hear any more lies because I already saw you in the arms of that woman.

Tessa: Okay. Okay. What you saw, you have it all wrong.

Mariah: Do I? So if the hug was so innocent, then why didn't you tell me about it when I asked you about the other night?

Tessa: Okay, I didn't tell you about kimberly because i wanted to protect you.

Mariah: Protect me from what? Is this like the time you didn't tell noah about our kiss?

Tessa: This -- this is a completely different situation.

Mariah: No, no, I think it's actually the exact same situation because it all comes back to you lying about being with more than one person.

Tessa: I'm not seeing kimberly. She helped me track down my sister.

Shauna: All I can think about is hilary. I close my eyes, and I see her face. For me to go to that hospital now, knowing that she had a miscarriage because of what i did...

Charlie: Because of what we did.

Shauna: I'm the one who ran off. That's why you and your mom and hilary were in that stupid car in the first place. You were out looking for me. If only I'd stayed.

Charlie: They're gonna release hilary from the hospital as soon as she's ready to come home. You can't avoid her forever, shauna.

Shauna: I know.

Charlie: I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but... here it is anyway. You need to learn how to face your problems and stop running away from them.

Tessa: Look at all these texts kimberly sent me. The one and only subject is my sister. Go ahead, look.

Mariah: No, no. That's fine. That's all right.

Tessa: Are you saying you believe me?

Mariah: How did you find crystal?

Tessa: Okay, well, I was able to track down someone who worked with her in the sex ring.

Mariah: Kimberly.

Tessa: And she told me she and crystal were still in touch, and she knew where she was. That's why I hugged her, because I was overwhelmed in the best way.

Mariah: I don't -- I don't understand. I mean, that's amazing news. Why wouldn't you tell me something like that?

Tessa: Crystal killed zack. She's still a fugitive, and i didn't want you getting implicated. I figured the less you knew, the better, which is what I meant when I said --

Mariah: Said that you were protecting me. Got it. And I went off the deep end and thought that you and kimberly were...

Tessa: Well, we're not.

Mariah: Well, thank god. 'Cause I can't tell you all the terrible, awful things that were swirling around in my head. But it's good to know that you're not two-timing me.

Tessa: I'm glad to know that I can set your mind at ease.

Mariah: So what happens now? I mean... between us.

Tessa: Okay, um... I thought about this from a million different ways, and it always comes back to the same thing. Crystal can't come back to genoa city or she'll get arrested. Which means I have to leave town because I have to be with my sister, and there's no other way.

Cane: Mattie went to the cafeteria. Do you want me to text her and ask her to bring you something? Sweetheart. You have to stop feeling so guilty, okay?

Lily: How am I supposed to do that?

Cane: Look, I know you were driving the car, but, baby, what happened was an accident, and you didn't mean to hurt anybody.

Lily: When devon said that hilary's dying, and... there's nothing they can do, my mind just exploded.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Cane: Who is it?

Lily: I don't -- I don't know.

[ Sniffles ] Hello? Speaking. Um, when? Yeah. Okay, uh... I'll be there. Thank you. Uh, that was officer schultz, from the police department. They want to talk to me about the accident.

Devon: When we got back together this last time... I admit that it was because of the baby. But it's turned into so much more than that.

Hilary: I'm so glad.

Devon: You and I are destined to be together. We've always been. I just want to be with you all the time, and even when we're apart, I can still feel the love between us because it's that strong.

Hilary: I know exactly what you mean.

Devon: And I'm not just talking about lust or anything like that, even though you are the most beautiful woman that i have ever laid eyes on in my life.

Hilary: Well...

Devon: But you're so much more than that. I love your mind. I'm in love with it. And your confidence. And your heart. And the way you never quit, no matter what. Even when I was trying to push you away, you never quit on us. Having a child with you would be incredible. But it's not everything. Because you're everything. You are my everything. Which is why I want you to be my wife again as soon as possible.

Hilary: [ Gasps ] Devon, as soon as I can get out of here, that would be amazing.

Devon: No. No, no, no, honey. I want to marry you right away. I want it to be this week.

Hilary: You -- you want to marry me in the hospital?

Devon: Yes, I do. Hilary, you've changed my life. And I just want to be by your side, and I want you and the rest of the world to know that that's where I'll always belong.

Hilary: Devon...

Devon: I want to help you recover as your husband. We can make it official, and then have a big party to celebrate with everyone when you're out of here and you're feeling better.

Hilary: Oh... that would be great.

[ Gasps ] Devon, I...

Devon: I went to fenmore's when I left earlier to try and find you the most beautiful ring that I could.

Hilary: Um... yeah, that is, without a doubt, the most beautiful ring I've ever seen.

Devon: I'm glad that you think so.

Hilary: Okay. What are you waiting for? Put it on my finger.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]
