Lily: You might be great with showing shauna the ropes with business, but I think a feral cat knows more about interpersonal relationships than you do.

Shauna: Charlie. The rules are different here.

Charlie: What do you mean?

Shauna: Hilary doesn't mind if we're alone.

Victor: You mean, the videotape, the hacked files, credit card trail -- it was you?

Nick: You didn't think I was capable of something like this. I knew you would underestimate me.

Nick: All he cared about was what he wanted, and it's always been that way, but I found a way to send a message to him loud and clear, that he is not gonna mess with me or my life or my family ever again, and I will not apologize for putting an end to it.

Hilary: Keys, keys, keys. Where are my keys?

Shauna: In the kitchen. Next to this. [ Chuckles ]

Hilary: [ Sighs ] Thank you. You are a life-saver.

Shauna: Just pitching in since your usual tracking device isn't here.

Hilary: Yeah. Can't wait for devon to get back from his trip.

Shauna: Uh, when is that?

Hilary: Uh, later tonight, I believe.

Shauna: If there's anything i can do in the meantime...

Hilary: Oh, you're sweet. Thank you.

Shauna: Well, I owe you for letting me stay here and being so cool about charlie coming over yesterday.

Hilary: Well, I didn't really have a choice since you told me after the fact.

Shauna: You said lily was being too uptight about charlie and me seeing each other. I took that as a green light for us to hang out here.

Hilary: You and charlie, you guys are good kids. You don't need to be supervised 24/7.

Shauna: You are gonna kick butt as a mom.

Hilary: You know, why don't you come with me? We can grab a bite after the show.

Shauna: Oh, I'd love to, but my sat test is coming up, and I really want to ace it.

Hilary: See, that is what I'm talking about. You are a mature, responsible young lady, and lily needs to start treating you like one. Okay, don't study too hard, all right?

Shauna: I won'T.

Hilary: Mwah.

Shauna: Bye.

Hilary: Bye.

Victoria: "You are cordially invited to the unveiling of an exciting new venture and business opportunity." Hm. This was hand-delivered a little while ago.

Nikki: I got one, too, delivered at the ranch this morning. Any idea what it's about?

Victoria: This company dark horse has entered into negotiations with every corporate entity that has recently severed ties with newman enterprises.

Nikki: Oh, really? Then why are they inviting us to this meeting?

Victoria: Someone's trying to play games with us.

Nikki: I'm more upset about what nicholas did to his father.

Victoria: I have never been so furious at nicholas.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] That makes two of us.

Victoria: Honestly, my real upset comes from knowing that he let us think that J.T. Was still alive.

Nikki: If nicholas had any idea what he has put us through...

Abby: Hi.

Victoria: Hi, abby.

Nikki: Hello.

Abby: Am I interrupting?

Victoria: Oh, no. No. We were just looking at this.

Abby: Yes, I got one of those, too. Hand-delivered by a courier.

Nikki: Huh.

Victoria: Mom got one, also.

Abby: Okay, so why would someone who's raiding newman enterprises invite three newmans to a function like this?

Victoria: I don't know, but we're about to find out.

Lily: Charlie, I need the model go-see times for friday.

Charlie: Uh... right here.

[ Telephone rings ]

Lily: Hi, david. Yeah, when are the auditions? Okay, I'll send you headshots.

Mattie: Charlie, the go-see times.

Charlie: Yeah, I got them.

Mattie: That's last week's schedule, dummy.

[ Sighs ]

Lily: Did see you sarah? Okay, so she wasn't right. So someone a little different? Okay. What look are you looking for?

Charlie: Hey. Look, I got to go out.

Mattie: To get us all coffee?

Charlie: Just cover for me, will you?

Mattie: Why can't you just meet her later?

Charlie: Because we won't have uncle devon's apartment all to ourselves later.

Lily: What's going on?

Tessa: Last-minute changes are in your script, segment clips are ready to go, and your guest is in makeup.

Mariah: Giggles the clown, right?

Hilary: What?

Tessa: She's joking. It's a fashion designer, sarah palmer. You're bad.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ]

Hilary: Um, let's go over the changes.

Mariah: Okay.

Tessa: Uh, let me know if you need anything else.

Hilary: Okay. So, tessa's really anxious to help out with the show today.

Mariah: Well, yeah, devon is out of town, and there's not much to do at hamilton-winters.

Hilary: She's here because she cares about you, and she's not afraid to show it.

Mariah: Okay. What is with people? First kyle, now you. I mean, even summer thinks that she can have an opinion on my personal life. Why don't you guys just butt out, okay?

Hilary: You don't trust it.

Mariah: Didn't you want to go over changes, or something?

Hilary: Mariah, you were blindsided. You thought you knew who you were, and you thought you knew what you wanted.

Mariah: Not for one second, actually.

Hilary: So many times you thought you found "the one." And things just kept going wrong. Even with guys that you really cared about. Like kevin and devon... and then when you met tessa, all the pieces, they just came together. It's like you were on the wrong track the whole time. So now you are all in, and when tessa didn't return those feelings, it hurt. It hurt worse than all the other rejections.

Mariah: Are you done playing shrink?

Hilary: I know what it's like to put your heart out there. It doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman. You're taking a risk. And that is scary as hell.

Abby: There's no one in here, no one in the lobby... looks like the whole building's empty.

Victoria: It certainly seems that way.

Nikki: You think this could be some kind of a setup?

Abby: What, like a tv prank show, or something?

Summer: Thank god someone else is here, because this place is creepy quiet.

Sharon: Um, it's creepy, period. What is this?

Victoria: You both got one of these?

Sharon: Yes.

Summer: Me, too.

Nikki: I don't like this. I think we should go.

Victoria: No, mom, wait. I'm not going anywhere until i find out who's behind all this.

Nikki: Nicholas.

Victoria: Did you get an invitation to come here, too?

Nikki: No, I sent the invitations. Welcome to dark horse.

Hilary: Everything looks fine.

Tessa: All right. You are all set, then.

Hilary: Tessa.

Tessa: Yeah?

Hilary: You know, even under the best of circumstances, relationships aren't easy.

Mariah: Seriously, hilary, butt out.

Hilary: Shut up and listen.

Mariah: Okay, fine, but just make it quick.

Hilary: You two have a shot at something great. But you're gonna have to work at it.

Mariah: Okay, great. Thanks.

Hilary: The universe is gonna throw all kinds of crap at you. And you're gonna need to find a way around it or through it. You're gonna have to fight to be together. Because if you love someone, it's worth it. I think of everything that devon and I went through to be together, everything that we overcame.

Mariah: Most of it because of your own stupidity.

Hilary: Yes, my insecurities almost cost me everything. But I never gave up. And neither did devon, you know? Look at us now. We're strong, we're committed, we have a baby on the way. I can't imagine being any happier.

Mariah: You okay?

Hilary: Yeah, no, it's just... it's hormones. [ Chuckles ] And just -- the point is... don't be idiots, okay?

Mariah: Oh, funny, I thought that was a good idea.

Hilary: I'm trying to tell you that things are gonna come along. And they're gonna test you and they're gonna test your love for each other, and you can't lose sight of what's important.

Tessa: Is this about us, or are you referring to that guy we saw you with last night?

Mariah: Your friend.

Hilary: I just want you to know that I support you and your relationship, okay? All right, now I need to go and get ready for the show.

Tessa: Is it just me, or was that really weird?

Mariah: Yeah, there's definitely something more going on than just hormones.

Charlie: Hey, mom. I just got a text from jackson. There's a meeting for the cross-country team today.

Lily: I thought practice wasn't until august.

Charlie: It's an informal thing. The coach wants the upperclassmen to meet the new guys.

[ Telephone rings ]

Lily: Well -- oh, I have to get that, hold on. Aria! Hi. Thanks for calling back.

Charlie: Mattie, come on. Cover for me.

Mattie: No!

Charlie: What's the big deal?

Mattie: You're asking me to lie to mom so that you and shauna can, you know...

Charlie: How many times did i cover for you and reed?

Mattie: We weren't doing this, and I don't care what you say, it is a big deal.

Charlie: [ Sighs ] You're right, it is, which is exactly why I need your help. Please, mattie, come on.

Mattie: Go.

Charlie: Thank you.

Lily: Did charlie go already?

Mattie: Yeah, he didn't want to be late, but I got things covered here.

Lily: Well, I hope he knows how much he owes you.

Victoria: What's with all the intrigue, nick?

Abby: Yeah, hand-delivered invitations? There must be a reason you went to so much trouble.

Nick: There is.

Summer: Does it have to do with this? Dark horse? What is that, anyway?

Nick: It's exactly what the invitation says. It's an exciting new venture.

Sharon: For you, or us?

Summer: I'm assuming you.

Nikki: This is about your father. Your way of paying him back for trying to take christian from you.

Nick: Dad made a big mistake.

Nikki: I don't know what you're up to, but let me remind you that your father's not the only one who could be hurt by whatever you're doing.

Nick: I'm not out to hurt anyone.

Victoria: Then tell us what's going on, nick.

Nick: When it comes to this family, dad hasn't allowed anyone but himself to make the rules. That's gonna change.

Victoria: Would you stop with all the games?

Nick: This is no game, vick. I have never been more serious about anything in my life.

Hilary: Thank you for joining us. Now, mariah and I know that your time is very valuable, and we appreciate you choosing to spend some of it with us. Let me leave you with this final thought. I was reminded of something earlier. Sometimes when we reach a good point in our lives, we want to stay there. But that's not possible. The clock keeps ticking and things change. And we don't know what's gonna happen next. But that is the beauty -- and the terror -- of our existence. We don't know where we're going. So let go of fear, focus on the journey, and you may go places that you never even imagined. Okay. End of lecture. Thank you for making me part of your day. And part of your lives.

Tessa: And we're out.

Mariah: Are you okay?

Hilary: Yeah, no, I'm fine. Just... [ Sighs deeply ]

Tessa: Okay, something is definitely up with her.

Mariah: I can't believe it.

Tessa: What?

Mariah: After that speech she gave us about how happy she is with devon... I mean, do you think it's possible she's going behind his back with that very good-looking guy we saw?

Tessa: Sometimes there are things in your past you can't let go of.

Shauna: Hi.

Charlie: Hi.

Shauna: Come in. [ Chuckles ] Hey.

Charlie: Hey.

Shauna: I hope you don't get into trouble for leaving work.

Charlie: Uh, mattie's covering for me. Plus, you know, I wouldn't care if I did anyway.

Shauna: [ Chuckles ]

Charlie: Are you sure?

Shauna: It's all I've been thinking about.

Charlie: Yeah. Me, too. I've never felt this way before.

Shauna: Neither have I.

Charlie: Really?

Shauna: It's different with you, charlie. It's special.

Charlie: Same here.

Shauna: Do you have the...

Charlie: Yep, I got them right... uh... right here.

Shauna: Come on.

Mattie: The go-sees are updated. I'll forward you the new schedule. Mom?

Lily: Yeah, I'm just looking for the e-mail about charlie's cross-country meeting. Do you know anything about it?

Mattie: Just what he told you.

Lily: If they have them running in this heat...

Mattie: Who are you calling?

Lily: Charlie. Charlie, call me back as soon as you get this, okay? You know what, I'm just gonna go to the school.

Mattie: No, mom, don'T.

Lily: Why not?

Mattie: Uh, because you're gonna embarrass charlie if you barge in on him in front of all of his friends.

Lily: Mattie, what's going on?

Mattie: Nothing.

Lily: Tell me the truth. Right now.

Summer: I love the whole new look and new attitude, but what's up with the cloak and dagger?

Nick: You want to tell them, or should I?

Victoria: I don't know what you're up to, but you seem to be getting a twisted sense of pleasure out of it, which frankly I find unattractive.

Nikki: I agree. You have caused a lot of unnecessary pain and damage, all to get back at your father.

Nick: Sorry, mom. Too simplistic.

Victoria: So you do have a plan. And a goal.

Abby: Will someone please tell me what's going on?

Sharon: Yeah. Fill us in.

Nick: Since I did invite you here, yes, mom, this is about dad. My relationship with him is very complicated. When I was younger, I really looked up to him. I thought he was the smartest, strongest man in the whole world. He taught me how to play chess, how to ride horses, how to box.

[ Grunting ]

Victor: That's enough. Enough, enough, enough, enough, enough.

Nick: I'm not tired, come on.

Victor: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want to overload, okay? You're gonna be so sore tomorrow, you won't believe it.

Nick: [ Panting ]

Victor: Very well done. All right?

Nick: It was a lot to learn, man.

Victor: I know, but I'll teach you not only what you do with your fists, but a lot of boxing has to do with what you do with your feet. All right? Footwork is extremely important and one of the hardest things to learn, but we'll learn it. You're very athletic. You're very good. I can sense it, okay?

Nick: So you think I'll be pretty good?

Victor: The only way you can tell if someone is good is if you have been sparring with them. Because boxing is a question of overcoming fear. Okay? It's like walking through fire. Every time you go into the ring sparring with someone, it's like walking through fire. Everyone is scared. Okay? It's a question of how you overcome that fear. But the look in your eyes tells me that you will overcome that fear. You're victor newman's son.

Nick: He gave me advice about girls, said all the things that fathers should say to sons. When I wanted to marry sharon, I couldn't believe how supportive he was. He built us that house.

Nick: You should see the upstairs bedroom, man.

Victor: Yeah?

Nick: We have floor-to-ceiling windows on one side, exposed wooden beams overhead, this cool alcove for studying or reading or whatever.

Victor: Absolutely, I know.

Nick: And not to mention the killer view of the ranch. You can see all the way to the riding trails down by the creek here.

Victor: I'm glad you like it, my boy.

Nick: Sharon is gonna love it.

Nick: When we almost lost noah, when cassie came into our lives, when she died... dad was always there for me. He was my rock.

Nikki: So why are you doing this?

Nick: Because, with dad, anytime he does something for us, he expects something in return. And it's not just with me. We've all felt his wrath if we didn't do things his way. Vick, when you married billy, he threw you in jail. Mom, how many times did dad turn on you when you wouldn't bow to his will? Abby. I'm sorry, but you will never measure up in dad's eyes because you refuse to be molded in victoria's image. Because you have the audacity to want to blaze your own trail, to do things and be yourself. He will continue to punish you for that. And, summer, dad hasn't turned on you yet, but trust me, he will. Just like he did with sharon. He loved her like she was his own daughter until he didn'T. Then he did one of the cruelest things I have ever seen in my life. He used mariah to make sharon think she was losing her mind.

Victor: You're setting yourself up for a fall, son, by investing in sharon again. She's keeping a secret from you.

Nick: So you decided to get sharon out of my life for good, by playing god. Resurrecting cassie from the grave and convincing sharon that she was losing her mind and forcing her to commit herself.

Nick: What he did was unforgivable, but not surprising. This is what dad has done to us our entire lives. He has tried to control us using fear and intimidation. He used our trust funds to do it, until finally we had enough.

Nick: You are not allowed to access our trust funds.

Victor: How do you think i built this company, huh? I use money to make more money. Business 101. You kids weren't complaining as long as the trust funds were growing. Now you want to nickel-and-dime me to death?

Nick: By law, we are entitled to know exactly what you are doing with our trusts. Now, since you do everything behind our backs, this lawsuit was the only way to get an explanation from you.

Nick: We fought back and we won, but then...something happened. Some brush with death, some epiphany, some life-changing experience that allowed dad to worm his way back into our lives.

Nikki: Why are you so bitter, so angry?

Nick: Why aren't you, mom? Have you forgotten what he did to you at that fundraising concert?

Victor: You had a problem with me, didn't you, son? Did you come to me? No. You used your mother who practiced so hard for this concert. You set out to destroy this event.

Nick: Mom dared to tell the great victor newman what she thought of him. You're arrogant and heartless.

Victor: [ Grunts ]

Nick: That's when I promised myself that I would never be like dad.

Victoria: What do you think you're doing right now?

Nick: I am nothing like dad.

Victoria: You're out for revenge. You don't care about collateral damage.

Nick: I tried to make things work with dad, even though i swore I would never go back to newman enterprises. When he almost died, I reached out to him.

Nick: Well, you hear this and you take it to heart. You got to get better. For mom, abby and vick, for your grandkids... and me, too. Come back to us, dad. It shouldn't take you being in the hospital fighting for your life for me to realize how important you are to me.

Victor: I want you to come back to newman enterprises.

Nick: This time, I wanted to believe that things could be different, that the old wounds had healed. That we could become a family again. But then he told me what my job at newman would be, and I knew that nothing had changed.

Nick: This says I'm coming back as C.O.O.

Victor: You got that right.

Nick: I thought you were giving that position back to vick.

Victor: Not gonna happen.

Nick: Well, what does she think about that?

Victor: Victoria went in a different direction, okay? The job is yours.

Nick: You lied to me about victoria. About being resigned to the fact that she would never be C.O.O. Again.

Victor: If she still has hopes for that, she's being naive.

Nick: Seriously?

Victor: You realize that victoria colluded with jack abbott against me?

Nick: Do you remember that i testified against you in court? I was the one who turned you into the feds for commercial bribery. Shouldn't that make you question whether I can be trusted? Maybe I should be disqualified from being C.O.O.

Victor: That's all the in past.

Nick: That is why I decided to come back, dad, to work side by side with you, to reunite this family that means so much to me. Not to be a pawn in this game of chess that you always play, where you try and control everyone's lives. What about all those conversations we had about family and what really matters and how much we mean to each other? It meant nothing to you.

Nick: Dad wanted me to screw you over, vick. And when I wouldn't do that, when I stood up to him, he vowed to make me pay for it. The price? My son.

Nikki: No, that is not why he did that.

Nick: Dad was there when i thought I lost christian. He saw the unbelievable pain i endured. And he was there. He saw firsthand how heartbreaking it was for me to find out that christian was still alive. He knew how much that boy meant to me, and he still tried to take him away from me. Not because it was in christian's best interest, but wound that would never heal.

Nick: I never wanted this fight, but my son is my son. He is mine. And I will do whatever it takes to keep him. Even if that means going down to your level.

Nick: When dad asked me to come back to work, I thought that we could really turn newman enterprises back into what it intended to be. A legacy that we could be proud of. Something that we could hand down to our children and our grandchildren. But when I realized that that was not gonna happen, I decided to create something new.

Nikki: By using J.T.'S identity? By attacking newman enterprises and releasing your father's medical records publicly?

Abby: Wait, wait. What? You were the one that hacked newman's server and you exposed dad's health problems?

Victoria: While pretending to be J.T.

Summer: I'm sorry, but... way to go, dad. I mean, I was thinking this was gonna be the same old boring family drama, so...

Nick: The old family dynamic is dead. A new one is starting. Today.

[ Doorbell rings ]

[ Ringing continues ]

Shauna: Mrs. Ashby!

Lily: Where is he?

Shauna: Who?

Lily: Do not make this worse for yourself, shauna.

Shauna: I --

Lily: Charlie! Get down here right now!

Charlie: Mom, geez, I'm right here!

Lily: You lied to me!

Charlie: How did -- I knew I shouldn't have trusted mattie!

Lily: Oh, do not blame your sister. You put her in a horrible position!

Charlie: All she had to do was keep her mouth shut!

Lily: No, she was doing the right thing, which is more than I can say for you two. I knew that you were a bad influence on my son.

Charlie: Mom!

[ Door opens ]

Hilary: Uh, what is going on?

Lily: What's going on in your home? Because shauna was entertaining charlie without your permission.

Charlie: Mom, please!

Shauna: Hilary knew I was having charlie over. She said she was cool with it.

Lily: Is that true?

Hilary: Take a breath, lily. You're making a big deal out of nothing.

Lily: Nothing? Really? Charlie and shauna were alone in your apartment, with your permission.

Charlie: Okay, mom, please.

Lily: Unless shauna's lying.

Hilary: Okay, I just -- I think this is just a misunderstanding, okay?

Lily: No, no, you might be okay with teenagers lying and sneaking around behind your back, but I'm not.

Hilary: Well, they wouldn't need to lie and sneak around if you weren't such an uptight prude.

Lily: You have no idea what it means to be a responsible parent. Shauna is not your friend, okay? You are her guardian and her mentor, and I feel sorry for her. I feel even sorrier for the baby you're carrying.

Shauna: Hilary's gonna be a great mom.

Hilary: At least my kids won't hate me.

Lily: You have no idea what it's like to raise a teenager.

Hilary: And you've clearly forgotten what it's like to be young and in love.

Lily: No, I haven'T. That's why I'm more vigilant than ever because I know what can happen. And I really, really hope that you used protection.

Charlie: Somebody kill me.

Hilary: What is wrong with you?

Lily: I'm not gonna let my son ruin his life over one stupid mistake.

Hilary: Oh, my god, the '50s called, they need their chastity belt back.

Lily: I thought that you cared about shauna.

Hilary: Of course I do!

Lily: Then act like it! There should be consequences here. There will be for charlie. Because clearly shauna's never had to answer for her bad choices.

Charlie: Okay -- mom!

Hilary: What is that supposed to mean?

Abby: You were the one using J.T.'S credit cards, sending the e-mails, stalking nikki and sharon?

Victoria: He was responsible for all of it.

Abby: The three of you knew about this?

Sharon: We found out when nick revealed himself to victor.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Mind blown. I mean, dad, that's kind of awesome.

Nikki: No, it is not "awesome," summer. It's cruel. All of it was cruel. Impersonating J.T., Attacking your grandfather's company...

Summer: Okay, I am sure that dad had his reasons.

Nick: When dad founded newman enterprises, he did because he wanted to give us something that he never had. It wasn't just material things. A home, family, loving parents, and we did, but it all came with a cost because it was based on fear. Fear that it could all be taken away. And the stronger the fear, the tighter he could hold on to everything and everyone. But it got to the point that he was using the very thing he built his dreams on to control us. And I had enough. I had to stop it, and the only way to do it was to go after the source of power -- newman enterprises. And I realized I had a way to do it. I remember the day that i thought I caught J.T. But it just turned out to be that homeless guy that looked like him. So I tracked him down, and he told me that he'd written down a bunch of random words and numbers that J.T. Had stored on his phone. Right away, I knew what those were. So I paid the guy for the information, and then I hired him to distract dad while i worked on my plan.

Abby: How?

Nick: I used the passwords and codes to get into the hr database. I found out which temps were working in key positions. I also found out which employees were disgruntled. Both of whom helped me get past newman's security system and gather useful data.

Abby: But the entire newman server was hacked.

Nick: For that, I needed to hire a professional. It wasn't cheap.

Summer: Wow. You went full rogue.

Nikki: Yeah, he still hasn't even told us how he got his hands on his father's medical records.

Nick: It was like everything else. I paid for it. Everything has a price.

Victoria: You have no qualms about any of this, do you?

Nick: Just played by dad's rules. He taught us well, vick.

Abby: What does that even mean?

Nick: I completely infiltrated dad's personal and private life. I had cameras and trackers put in his car, his home, his office. But the icing on the cake was when I assumed J.T.'S identity.

Abby: Wait, I still don't understand how you did that.

Sharon: He had a mask made of J.T.'S face.

Summer: No way.

Nick: I worked with a prosthetics expert. I cannot believe how good he was. He had you all fooled. Including dad. I know the thought of J.T. Returning freaked you out, but i had to do it, and it wasn't just for dad. I was also trying to flush J.T. Out of hiding. Unfortunately, that didn't work, but it was worth it because I'm not giving up trying to find him.

Nikki: I don't even recognize you anymore.

Nick: You should, mom. For the first time, I am my father's son. I'm sorry that I scared you, vick. I hope you understand why I had to do this. I hope you all understand.

Nikki: Hard to believe you didn't know anything about this.

Sharon: Yeah, I was totally faking my freakout when I saw J.T. Outside of my house.

Nikki: Wouldn't put it past you.

Sharon: I am furious with nick for hiding all this from me.

Victoria: We're hardly in a position to judge nick for hiding things.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] If he only knew why he couldn't draw J.T. Out of hiding.

Sharon: Let's hope he never finds out.

Summer: Okay, dad, I don't care what anybody says, I think what you did was pretty badass.

Nikki: You know what, summer, attacking a sick man is nothing to brag about.

Abby: Dad was well enough to stab victoria in the back by trying to give nick her job.

Victoria: And I appreciate you not taking it, but don't pretend that you did any of this for me.

Nick: I did this so i wouldn't lose my son. But I also did it for all of you, too.

Mariah: I have to work.

Tessa: Ah, work can wait. You deserve a break. One more glass?

Mariah: Okay, fine. You're right. Work can wait.

Tessa: [ Sighs ] We both deserve a break after working with hilary today.

Mariah: Yeah.

Tessa: You worried about her?

Mariah: No. No. It's just, uh, something she said. About me putting myself out there. And I think she's right. I kind of suck at it.

Tessa: [ Laughs ]

Mariah: It's true. I overthink everything. Am I coming on too strong, or not strong enough? Should I talk more or shut up?

Tessa: Yes.

Mariah: What?

Tessa: Shut up. You're perfect.

Hilary: Where do you get off talking about shauna like that?

Lily: She ran away from her aunt's house and hid in charlie's room. She doesn't know how to follow rules. She's probably never had any!

Hilary: Wake up, lily! Your perfect son, he lied to your face, okay? He wanted this just as much as shauna, if not more!

Lily: No, charlie would never do this unless shauna pushed for it. I did not raise my son that way!

Hilary: Oh!

Charlie: Stop! Both of you! Look, she's gone.

Hilary: What? Where did...

Charlie: You were both so busy arguing, you didn't notice how upset she was! I have to find her!

Lily: Wait, charlie! Wait!

Nick: Vick, you were right when you said I had a plan.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Where does it end?

Nick: Right here in this building with the new company I'm starting.

Abby: Dark horse?

Nick: I'm betting on a long shot.

Summer: So this office belongs to you.

Nick: The whole building, actually.

Summer: Nice.

Nick: I've made deals with just about every company that has severed ties with newman enterprises.

Victoria: We lost that business because of the scandal that you created.

Nick: I learned from the master.

Nikki: Where did you get the money to do all of this? Takes a lot of capital to get something of this magnitude off the ground.

Sharon: And you gave away your trust fund.

Nick: Even without the bank account, the newman name carries some serious weight in the corporate world. I've been meeting with a lot of high rollers lately. Not all new hope investors, but there are a lot of venture capitalists out there who are eager to get into business with victor newman's son.

Nikki: Oh! I see. So you don't mind trading on your father's name.

Nick: His name. It's my vision. Investors like that.

Nikki: Then why are we here?

Nick: Because this is the final piece to my plan.

Summer: Okay, so tell us.

Nick: I want to create a new legacy for this family. A company that embodies everything that newman enterprises was originally supposed to be.

Sharon: Do you really believe you can do that?

Nikki: Yes, I do. And I want all of you to join me. Come work at dark horse. Help me make my dream a reality.

Nikki: So you're asking us to turn our backs on your father.

Nick: I'm asking you to be a part of the future.

Charlie: Where is she?

Lily: She couldn't have gotten far.

Hilary: I can't even believe that we are in this situation. For once, just once, if you can just let things be...

Lily: "Let things be?"

Hilary: Yeah! It's not that hard. Maybe if you had done that, your kid wouldn't feel the need to sneak around.

Lily: You know what, the last thing I need right now is your advice, so just keep it to yourself.

Hilary: Oh, well, I had to stand there while you were just talking about shauna like she was some kind of tramp.

Lily: Well, after living under your roof...

Hilary: Oh, you call yourself a role model.

[ Growls ] I am so sick of you and your sanctimonious crap! You acting like you and your little family is so perfect. It's bull! You weren't some sweet innocent girl when you were shauna's age. I know all about you running off to go and marry your boyfriend. You weren't no saint!

Lily: You know what, at least I know what it means to be a parent. Because, for you, pregnancy -- nothing more than a photo op. Devon having a baby with you is the worst idea he's ever had. You have no business being a mother!
