Ashley: I've heard rumors that we're in danger of losing some very big contracts. If you know something, spit it out.

Victoria: I'm gonna assume that J.T. Is still alive, and if he's coming after us, then i can't let my guard down, even for one minute.

Arturo: Your daughter is a wonderful woman, but some interesting things started happening as soon as we began seeing each other. Inspectors are holding up my work, contracts got cancelled.

Victor: Maybe that should tell you something.

Kyle: You need definitive proof that phillip chancellor's your father, or not.

Billy: That should cover it.

Sinead: What do those go to?

Billy: A brand-new yacht.

Summer: Billy.

Billy: Didn't you get the memo? I gave the whole company the week off for 4th of july.

Summer: Yeah, everyone except you. So, how you doing?

Billy: I lost the company yacht in a card game, summer. How do you think I'm doing?

Summer: You made a mistake.

Billy: Do you have any idea how many people believe that i didn't have the maturity to run this company?

Summer: A lot?

Billy: A whole hell of a lot. And last night, I proved them right.

[ Sighs ] I'm sure jack and ashley are tripping over themselves to be the first one to say "I told you so."

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: Well, traci's sweet, so she'll defend you.

Billy: Not this time. This is just far too epic. And I know how it's gonna go. The public is gonna find out in the worst possible way. The company's gonna be embarrassed, and the bottom line is gonna tank.

Summer: All right, then how do we stop that from happening?

Billy: No way. Unless I win back jaboat before anybody knows that I lost it.

Phyllis: Hey! Can you look at this?

Sharon: What is it?

Phyllis: It's nothing evil or horrible. It's a birthday invitation for billy's party.

Sharon: I thought his birthday was...

Phyllis: 4th of july, yeah. We celebrated in a unique fashion, but it didn't exactly work out, so this is a do-over. I put together a group e-mail. I'm hoping that everyone can get together later on tonight. Tell me what you think.

Sharon: Nice! Wow! Is that billy's new boat? It's so fancy!

Phyllis: Yeah, I know! I know. I think billy's really gonna love it.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Arturo: What?

Abby: What?

Arturo: [ Sighs ] I ordered you flowers the other day.

Abby: Aww, that's so sweet.

Arturo: [ Scoffs ]

Abby: It's not sweet?

Abby: It's not happening. Apparently the charge was declined because the card's over the limit.

Abby: Oh, well, I mean, that's okay.

Arturo: No, it's not. Abby, there's more than enough money on that card. That's crazy.

Abby: My dad's playing his tricks again.

Arturo: It doesn't matter.

Abby: No, it does to me.

Arturo: Where are you going?

Abby: I'm going to the office to tell my father that --

Arturo: Whatever you're thinking, it's trouble, okay? So just leave me out of it. Please?

Abby: But this is diabolical. Look, my father is on you because he wants to keep us apart, right?

Arturo: Yeah. So?

Abby: So I can yell at him anytime, but what really twists the knife is if I stay with you.

Arturo: Hmm. There is no argument here.

Abby: But not here. A hotel. Ooh, no, no, no. A suite with room service. Come on. Mwah!

Arturo: [ Chuckling ] Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. Who's paying for that suite? Because, you know, we could always just go back to my place.

Abby: That's the genius part. I'm gonna charge it to my father's account.

Arturo: No, you're not.

Abby: Yes, I am. Now, listen to me. Do you or do you not want to spend some quality horizontal time with me? Don't think about who's paying for it. Just answer the question.

Arturo: [ Sighs ] You and me.

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Arturo: Horizontal.

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Arturo: Hell, yeah.

Abby: Yeah? Come on!

Victor: I know damn well who this journalist is, all right? Scott grainger. Well, this article is full of libelous insinuations. No comment.

Nikki: There you are. You were gone before I even was awake this morning. What brought you into the office so early?

Victor: Have you seen this?

Nikki: "Federal agent investigating victor newman vanishes without a trace: What happened to J.T. Hellstrom?"

Victor: Look at the byline.

Nikki: Scott?! I don't understand. He thinks you are somehow connected to J.T.'S disappearance?

Victor: Neil and I are working on a response.

Nikki: Well, how could he print this? It's not true.

Victor: Yet, every news outlet in town is calling me, wanting to know if I have any idea as to J.T.'S whereabouts.

Nikki: Scott never even met J.T. He's making him out to be like a hero.

Victor: He claims I don't want the police involved.

Nikki: Oh, so it's scott's theory that J.T. Is dead? Why would he jump to that conclusion? Why even dredge that up?

Victor: I think J.T. Is behind this himself. Anyway, I got to go, sweetheart. I've got deal with this, okay?

Nikki: Victor, I'm so sorry.

Victor: Don't you be sorry, sweetheart. You had nothing to do with it. See you later.

Ashley: Finally. I've been trying to get a moment with you all morning.

Victor: I've been busy.

Ashley: No, no, no, no. I think we have to talk about this now, victor. We've been under siege ever since the hacking started and the scandal, and now scott grainger has basically accused you of murder.

Victor: Do you think I need reminding?

Ashley: Well, maybe you do because you're not the only one that's affected by this. My reputation is on the line, too. So, please, can we just sit down and hatch a plan, something?

Victor: This is my job, and i promise you, I will handle it.

Ashley: I'm offering to help you. We just need to sit down --

Victor: Ashley, if I need your help, I will call you. Thank you.

Sharon: A party on the water. That sounds fun.

Phyllis: Right? Billy's not gonna know about it until he's onboard.

Sharon: I'd like to see his reaction.

Phyllis: You're invited.

Sharon: Uh, no. No. Count me out. I'm just not a party mood.

Phyllis: Because you're worried about J.T.

Sharon: He could be out there somewhere.

Phyllis: Or not, because he's dead.

Sharon: You can keep saying that, but I'm gonna keep looking over my shoulder. You know, I feel somewhat safe here ever since I installed a better security system, but when I'm done here for the day, I'm going straight home and locking my door.

Phyllis: You're being ridiculous. You can't stop living your life on the off chance that J.T.'S alive and gunning for us.

Sharon: Think of it this way. If I don't come to your party, there will be more food and drinks for everyone else.

Phyllis: Good. Glad you're not coming. Delete. Okay. The invitations have officially been sent. Surprise, billy.

Billy: Sinead, hey. It's billy. Congratulations on cleaning me out and winning jaboat. Listen, uh, give me a call, and we'll figure everything out, okay? All right, thanks.

Summer: Uh-oh.

Billy: I'm trying to be positive, okay, so I can talk her back into a rematch --

Summer: No, no. Not that. This.

Billy: Phyllis wanted to throw me a party on jaboat. Right after I lose ownership.

Summer: Yeah, I guess she's trying to surprise you. How do we stop this from happening?

Billy: The right thing to do would be to come clean, right?

Summer: Yeah, and then drag me down with you? No, please, don't --

Billy: Believe me, I'm not gonna bring you up. That is an added complication that I don't need right now.

Summer: Thanks.

Billy: If I can win back the boat from sinead, there is a chance -- a small chance -- that I can figure this out before it blows up in my face.

Summer: Okay, but if you lie to my mom and then you can't get the boat back...

Billy: That is not gonna be good.

Summer: No.

Billy: I got a feeling I got to roll the dice. All right. Not the best metaphor.

Phyllis: I was just thinking about you.

Billy: Yeah? What was I wearing?

Phyllis: I was thinking about having a quiet dinner in tonight.

Billy: Nice cover story, but it doesn't float, honey.

Phyllis: You know?

Billy: Yep.

Phyllis: Who spilled the beans? I just sent the invitations.

Billy: It was summer.

Phyllis: Come on, what was she thinking?

Billy: No, no. It's not like that. She, uh... she knows something that you don'T. I was here at the office working this morning with her, and I got a message from the captain saying that there's damage to the boat's hull and that it's gonna have to dry-dock.

It's not gonna be available for

a couple weeks.

Phyllis: That bites. We didn't get to set sail on your actual birthday, now this.

Billy: Well, as far as my birthday, I think we celebrated pretty damn well.

Phyllis: Okay. Change of venue. We can have the party at home.

Billy: You sure?

Phyllis: Yeah. I am revising and resending right now.

Billy: Phyllis, you don't have to do this, you know...

Phyllis: You deserve

something memorable. I'm gonna make sure you get it. Bye.

Phyllis: [ Squeals ]

Billy: Wow!

Phyllis: Welcome aboard, mateys! Here you go.

Billy: Look at this.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] I'm still so bummed I wasn't able to surprise you.

Phyllis: It's a recipe that i found online. I figured, you know what, if it is good enough for the british navy, it is good enough for us. Yes.

Phyllis: Okay. Argh! [ Laughs ] Okay, wait, let me see your cup.

Summer: That is strong.

Phyllis: Yes.

Summer: I taste rum. What's it mixed with?

Phyllis: More rum.

Summer: [ Laughs ] Wow.

Phyllis: Yeah.

[ Doorbell rings ] Oh, oh, oh, oh! Here you go. Here you go, help yourselves.

Billy: [ Clears throat ] Thank you.

Summer: Mm-hmm. I got your back, you got mine.

Phyllis: Hey! How you doing? Are you alone?

Kyle: I'm bringing regards from my dad. He's hanging with my grandmother tonight.

Phyllis: Oh, is dina okay?

Kyle: He's just keeping her company.

Billy: Yeah, I got a text from your dad saying he's not gonna be able to make it and that's he dropping the lawsuit.

Phyllis: That means he's throwing in the towel on digging up phillip's grave.

Billy: Which is fine by me. I was not looking forward to an extended court date with jack on one side and mother on the other.

Phyllis: This could be the only way that jack could find out if phillip is his biological father. Now he's stuck without an answer.

Kyle: He's not the only one.

Summer: All right, it is a party, and you can worry about your roots later. Come on. So, what happened to your date? Is she meeting you here later?

Kyle: Tiffany?

Summer: Yeah.

Kyle: I had to pull the plug on that one.

Summer: No! You guys were so hot and heavy. What happened?

Kyle: This.

Summer: Oh, my god. Stalker?

Kyle: In addition to her texting her love for me non-stop, tiffany was getting creative with her social media, laying out ideas for wedding plans...

Kyle: ...Starting a poll for kids names.

Summer: [ Laughs ] Oh, my god, and applying to preschools?

Kyle: Oh, I'm sure that was coming.

Summer: [ Laughs ] Yikes.

Kyle: That about sums it up.

Summer: All right, try this.

Kyle: [ Coughs ]

Summer: [ Laughs ]

[ Coughing continues ] I'm sorry, I probably should have warned you.

Kyle: It's fine. It's fine. I drank stronger booze than this when I was trying to get over you.

Victor: I have absolutely no comment, all right? Thank you. You're working late.

Ashley: I know. Waiting for you to emerge. Is this really how you're gonna solve this company's problems, by walling yourself off from the very people that you've hired to help you?

Victor: Last time you and i spoke, you seemed to want to help yourself.

Ashley: Well, I guess I've learned from the best.

Victor: You have, haven't you?

Ashley: Coffee?

Victor: Isn't that yours?

Ashley: It is, but I'm willing to sacrifice my coffee if you'll give me just a few minutes of your time.

Victor: Well, no sacrifice needed. Shall we meet in my office?

Ashley: Um, actually, here's fine.

Victor: Mm.

Ashley: Look, I know that it's your name that's in the headlines, but every article that's published mentions the fact that I play a very prominent role in this company, and I think it's only a matter of time before scott grainger points out that you and I were once married, and, I don't know, maybe helped you cover up whatever happened to J.T.

Victor: And...?

Ashley: What am I supposed to do with this?

Victor: Well, what I would prefer is some measure of support, you know?

Ashley: I would love to have given it to you, if you'd bothered to keep me informed, which you didn'T. I've been playing catch-up every since that story broke. I had no idea that J.T. Was undercover investigating you or that they're suspicious that maybe you had something to do with his sudden disappearance.

Victor: You know that's preposterous. Right?

Ashley: Look, it's just the two of us here. Did you do it?

Victor: I'm stunned you're even asking.

Ashley: Well, I'm sorry i even have to.

Victor: You take the word of scott grainger and J.T. Over mine.

Ashley: I'm just asking you to level with me, for once, please.

Victor: You've always had my loyalty. And now you're accusing me of what? I need your support.

Ashley: Wow. Okay, you know what, you've given me no choice. I have to protect myself and protect my family. I'm done. I quit.

Arturo: So, feel better?

Abby: Are you looking for a compliment on your technique?

Arturo: No, no, I know I'm good.

[ Both chuckle ] You were just really upset at your father.

Abby: Yeah, I still am, but now that I've tapped his card by charging a hotel suite, chocolate covered strawberries, and a $1,000 bottle of champagne, I'm gonna go get in his face and set victor newman straight.

Arturo: Right now?

Abby: Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's probably still at the office.

Arturo: Okay, well, then I'm coming with you.

Abby: Are you being protective, mr. Rosales?

Arturo: Yeah. I think I am.

Abby: Mm. I knew I liked you. Nikki. Hi.

Nikki: Hello.

Abby: I'm so glad I bumped into you. Are you meeting my dad here? Because I need to talk to him.

Nikki: No, I'm here alone. Your father is at the office dealing with a major crisis. I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. But then again, maybe if you had been there...

Abby: Yeah, I took a comp day because I wanted today off, but clearly my dad wasn't too busy to create a few crises of his own.

Arturo: Hey, uh, should we really be involving nikki in this?

Abby: I'm sorry. You're right, I shouldn't make this your problem.

Nikki: What is it you think your father has done?

Abby: Well, he's been harassing arturo.

Arturo: Look, it's -- it's not a big deal.

Abby: No, that's what makes this whole thing even worse. It's all so petty. Dad had the police bug arturo, giving him speeding and parking tickets. The city happened to lose his permit, and then a contract cancelled.

Arturo: Look, really, it's nothing I can't handle. It's fine.

Abby: No, you went and talked to him, man to man. That should have been the end of it. Then today... my dad just -- he can't seem to let the whole thing go. So I'm gonna go to him and tell him that I will not tolerate this behavior.

Nikki: Hmm. Why does everybody always blame victor for everything?

Abby: Because he's usually behind it all.

Nikki: You know, you leave your father alone. He can't be bothered with this trivial matter when he's all but been accused of murder in the press.

Abby: That's the crisis? The article written by scott, of all people?

Arturo: No one believes that.

Abby: No, it's all hype. And, besides, it doesn't matter whatever crisis my dad is battling. It still doesn't give him a right to go after arturo. Now, come on, let's go.

Arturo: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: You're looking for somebody to blame, turn around. Victor hasn't been harassing arturo. I have.

Abby: What you did to arturo was straight out of the victor newman playbook. Why would you do that?

Nikki: Because I told him to stay away from you, and he chose not to listen. You don't want me to act like victor, don't ignore me.

Arturo: I never ignored you.

Nikki: I told you to stay away from abby.

Abby: Don't I get a say in that?

Arturo: We had a casual relationship, and you set those rules. Why now that we're done --

Nikki: What is it that you think? I'm jealous? Because I'm not.

Abby: Well, then explain it.

Nikki: You disrespected me and my entire family. I was simply returning the favor.

Abby: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. Arturo has never disrespected me. Far from it. And you don't get to storm out of here without promising that that irrational, petulant behavior will stop, right now.

Nikki: You know what, all you had to do was listen. But you didn'T. No one messes with nikki newman. You got that?

Arturo: Hey, just let her go, all right? There's nothing you can say that's gonna change her mind.

Abby: What has gotten into her?

Arturo: [ Sighs ] I don't know. There's definitely something different about her, though.

Abby: Okay, well, um, should we grab a drink?

Arturo: Mm. I have a better idea.

Abby: Should we go upstairs?

Arturo: We can if you want to miss your uncle's birthday party.

Abby: Mm. Yeah, I was kind of looking forward to going to that.

Arturo: Well, then let's go. Maybe some family time is just what you need right now.

Abby: As long as the abbott side is more rational than the newman side tonight. It could go either way.

Arturo: Well, let's take our chances.

[ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: Hey! I'm curious. Why were you at the office today? Billy gave everybody the week off for the holiday.

Summer: Yeah, no, I know. I just wanted to show some initiative. That project that kyle and i were working on just needed a little tweaking, and, uh, that way, we're reading for monday.

Phyllis: Great. What kind of adjustments? I want to brag on you later.

Summer: Um, a few --

[ Doorbell rings ]

Billy: I'll get it.

Ashley: Happy birthday, again!

Billy: Hey, sis!

Ashley: Hi! I'm so sorry I'm late.

Billy: Thank you very much again. No, no, no. It's all good. We're just getting started.

Ashley: Hi!

Billy: Don't expect jack, though.

Ashley: Oh, I know, he's at home with our mother, and, uh, after last night's mock trial, he belongs there, believe me.

Billy: That good, huh?

Ashley: Yeah, well, jack dropping his lawsuit isn't the only big news. I've got some of my own.

Billy: What, did you get another promotion?

Ashley: I just quit newman.

Phyllis: Wow!

Ashley: Yeah.

Phyllis: After you made such a big deal about going there in the first place, you up and quit -- why?

Ashley: Oh, I guess you didn't see the article.

Billy: I did.

Kyle: Me, too.

Summer: Yeah, it was pretty lethal.

Phyllis: Somebody clue me in.

Billy: It's an article about victor written by scott grainger at hashtag, and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more about it in the next few days.

Ashley: Because it implies that victor had something to do with J.T.'S sudden disappearance.

Phyllis: Huh. Is it true?

Ashley: I doubt it. Maybe.

Kyle: Yet you still quit?

Ashley: Well, you know, i have trouble believing that he actually did it, but I also have trouble believing his complete denial. The bottom line is, I was just sick and tired of being left out in the dark and not trusted, and so...I walked.

Kyle: What's your next move?

Ashley: I've been thinking about that all the way over here, and I keep coming back to one answer, and the only answer that makes any sense.

Billy: Okay, come on, don't leave us hanging here.

[ Laughter ]

Ashley: I want to come back to jabot.

Phyllis: In what position?

Ashley: Well, the one where i can do the most good.

Summer: Heading research and development?

Ashley: No. C.O.O.

Kyle: C.O.O.?

Ashley: Yes. Well, that position's gone unfilled since you took over, correct, billy?

Billy: Yes.

Ashley: And I'm sure everybody can see the benefit of having a strong and experienced second in command who also just happens to be a head chemist. So who better than somebody who knows the ins and outs and all the history of both jobs, right? Hi.

Abby: Hi.

Ashley: So, um, goodbye, newman. Hello, jabot!

Abby: Wait, you're -- you're deserting me? But you're my only ally. We -- we need to talk.

Ashley: Excuse me.

Billy: Arturo! Hey.

Arturo: Hey.

Billy: Did you recognize me with clothes on? Come on, let's get you a drink.

Summer: Hey. You okay?

Kyle: Sure. Oh, yeah. I love working in a place where I know I'll never get ahead.

Sharon: Nice of you to pop in.

Nikki: Yeah, well, I just wanted to check in on you and see how you're doing.

Sharon: It's nice that you care about how I am.

Nikki: We're in this mess together, getting worse by the minute.

Sharon: Sounds like you're the one who needs to vent. Are you okay?

Nikki: Oh, my god, you haven't seen it?

Sharon: What now?

Nikki: I have managed to get victor accused of murder i committed.

Ashley: Honey, you're gonna be fine. I think you're gonna be better off in the long run.

Abby: How? Victoria doesn't even respect when I bring to newman now.

Ashley: Your sister doesn't matter, your father does. This is not gonna go unnoticed.

Abby: Mm.

Ashley: The fact that you're sticking around, you're showing your loyalty while I've abandoned ship? It's only gonna strengthen your position.

Abby: Yeah, I don't know about that.

Ashley: Listen, you cannot waste this opportunity, all right? Because your father still has doubts about victoria, and you can exploit that.

Arturo: Hey. Here you go.

Abby: Oh, thank you.

Arturo: By the way, uh, family politics isn't really my thing, but I think your mom has a point.

Abby: Well, if I can keep my cool long enough with my dad and victoria to take her advice.

Arturo: Why don't you, uh, show me the view?

Abby: Yeah! Yeah, yeah.

Ashley: Bye. Hey, billy.

Billy: Yeah?

Ashley: Hi. Can I talk to you for a second?

Billy: Yeah.

Ashley: So, um, you've never really given your opinion about things.

Billy: Well, you know me, it's always a good time to leave newman, no matter what the circumstance.

Ashley: But...?

Billy: But, ashley, you can go anywhere. I mean, you're the best there is. I don't know why you'd want to come back to jabot. It'd feel like a step backwards.

Ashley: Kind of sounds like you don't want me to go back.

Billy: No...

Phyllis: Hey. Why don't we stop talking around reality? We know that you wanted billy to be your puppet and follow your vision for the company...

Ashley: That's not at all what was going on, phyllis.

Phyllis: ...And then you got pissed because he tossed aside your business plan and started running things his way.

Billy: Honey.

Phyllis: And now you want to stop his momentum...

Ashley: Okay, is this the way that you see it?

Billy: Look, when it comes to business, there's nobody that i respect more than you.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Billy: But we both know that you like to be in charge, and you don't like the fact that you were edged out of jabot, even after you went to newman.

Ashley: It's so interesting. See, I thought that I was actually helping you through a difficult transition.

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Ashley: But now that you are clearly doing such an amazing job, I will yield to your leadership and only focus on r&D. Excuse me.

Billy: Yes.

Kyle: Your beef with victor is, uh -- he hates sharing power, right?

Ashley: That's part of it.

Kyle: Then why return to jabot, a company where the bylaws mandate that you can never break the glass ceiling?

Ashley: Well, gosh, kyle, with that logic, I could ask you the same thing. Why are you sticking around?

Kyle: I'm still climbing. But, you, you're --

Ashley: Well, you know what, I've just come to a major realization, kyle. The only thing worse than working for your own family's business is working for somebody else'S. And although billy's doing a great job, he does tend to be impulsive, so maybe my skill set would balance out his whims.

Billy: You know, for somebody who just decided to make this move, you sure have a lot of reasons to justify it.

Ashley: Don't take it personally. I'm just looking out for the good of the company.

Billy: Well, don't take it personally, but I don't need a watchdog.

Kyle: If you're thinking about filling the C.O.O. Position, maybe you should really open it up. Don't go the obvious route. Consider all the possibilities. Be impulsive.

Billy: Come on, man. Really? You, too? I mean, you're gonna have to wait a couple years, no?

Summer: Let's not forget what this party is really about, right?

Phyllis: Hear, hear. Happy birthday!

Summer: Happy birthday!

Billy: Yay!

Abby: Happy birthday, billy!

Summer: Yeah!

Billy: Whoa! All right.

[ Laughter ]

Abby: Cheers! Happy birthday! Oh, you need a drink.

Billy: You're not old enough.

Abby: This whole time, i thought it was my dad playing games with arturo. Turns out, it was nikki. I cannot believe that she would go to this extreme.

Phyllis: You know, people, they have a funny way of surprising you. I know that nikki always keeps me guessing.

Summer: Hey. You don't want to go inside and hang out with everybody else?

Kyle: Just thinking about my dad dropping the lawsuit.

Summer: I thought you said it was for the best.

Kyle: For my grandmother's sake. Leaves the whole chancellor question unanswered. For me and my dad.

Summer: Yeah, I've been there.

Kyle: Well, you know how tough it is, then.

Summer: Yeah, I mean, it's no fun having the constant question of who's your family and who's not.

Kyle: That's only the half of it. If it turned out that my dad and I are chancellors, who knows what opportunities would have opened up? Now it feels like I've been forced out of two different companies. Two different families. Three, if you count newman.

Summer: Well, jabot.

Kyle: Dead end. Any chance I had at being C.O.O. Went out the window when ashley swooped in.

Summer: Okay, I mean, just stick it out and hope that something changes.

Kyle: That's the best you got?

Summer: I mean, kyle, i don't really know what choice you have. You may never find out if you're a chancellor or not.

Kyle: Unless I dig up phillip myself.

Summer: There's a solution.

[ Laughs ]

Billy: How good are those, huh? My girl made those herself.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ]

Arturo: What's so funny?

Abby: I'll explain. Come on. Let's get a refill.

Phyllis: Yeah.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Billy: You got to be kidding me.

Phyllis: What's that about?

Billy: Both jack and traci texted me to tell me that they support ashley and that I should hire her back at jabot as C.O.O.

Ashley: So, you heard from my siblings.

Billy: Yeah. Thanks for going behind my back.

Ashley: You made your feelings really clear.

Billy: So did you.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I could make waves, but you know how that's gonna turn out.

Billy: Come on.

Phyllis: Oh, ashley, come on, where do you get off?

Ashley: Please. Do you really want a family squabble to dominate the news about jabot? I mean, that's what the newmans are going through right now. If you offer me the job as opposed to forcing me to make a move to take it, you will look like a brilliant businessman who has persuaded the innovator of the year to come back to the family business. On the other hand, we could have a very ugly board battle where you would suffer the embarrassment of losing the vote to keep me out.

Billy: She's got me cornered.

Phyllis: I can persuade lauren to vote against ashley's return.

Billy: Even if she does, that still means I need to get kyle on my side, and that means trusting someone that voted "no confidence" on his own father.

Phyllis: Well, if you don't ask, you're not gonna know.

Billy: It's too risky.

Phyllis: That's what you do. Risk is what you do. That is why you are so successful at jabot.

Billy: Okay.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Billy: Let's do it. Hey, do you know where kyle is?

Summer: No. He didn't say goodbye? No, we were just on the balcony together, and then he left.

Sharon: I knew scott held a grudge, but to publish something like this? How would he even --

Nikki: Victor thinks that J.T. Is pulling the strings, that he somehow fed the story to scott. This whole thing is a public relations nightmare.

Sharon: Well, it's even worse than that for us. If this article blows up, the police are gonna want answers to questions posed here.

Nikki: And victor could be charged with the crime i committed!

Sharon: Would you stop saying that? Scott didn't write anything here that can be proven as a fact. It's all speculation.

Nikki: We know the truth.

Sharon: Do we?

Nikki: Sharon, I killed J.T. We buried his body.

Sharon: Unless that article proves that J.T. Is still out there somewhere wreaking havoc.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Oh, god, i don't know what's worse, feeling guilty that J.T. Is dead or being terrified that he's alive and out for revenge.

Sharon: All we can do is wait and see.

Nikki: I even went after arturo, abby's boyfriend.

Sharon: You what?

Nikki: Oh, I was making his life difficult, doing things... it just sounds silly now, but somehow, at the time, it made sense.

Sharon: I'm not surprised. That's not insult, it's a fact. We've all been under so much stress. It's not surprising that you would do things that don't feel like you. Maybe that's why you're supporting victor in christian's custody.

Nikki: I am not supporting that. I'm trying to keep the peace!

Sharon: Well, it's not working.

Nikki: All I want is just one normal night. Please, just one. Is that too much to ask for?

Sharon: Apparently.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Wanted to tell me personally recruiting jack and traci. Phyllis: Have you heard anything f

[ Laughter ]

Phyllis: Have you heard anything from kyle?

Billy: No, not yet.

Phyllis: Well, this is awkward. Ashley's in there laughing with our guests, and we're plotting against her.

Billy: She did the same thing recruiting jack and traci.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Here we go.

Phyllis: That's not him.

Billy: Lauren. Wanted to tell me personally instead of going through you that she's gonna support ashley. Which means even with kyle's votes, it doesn't matter. Ashley's got enough votes lined up in favor of her return.

Phyllis: Now what?

Billy: [ Sighs ] Hey. Can I talk to you for a second?

Ashley: Sure. Excuse me.

Billy: Look, jabot's a family company, right? And you're family. So if you're okay with coming back to a position that you just left for greener pastures not that long ago, then I am happy to welcome you back as C.O.O. Come on.

Kyle: [ Panting, grunting ]

[ Thud ]

Nikki: I've got to track down victor, make sure he's not still at the office working too hard.

Sharon: When you see him, stay strong.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] I don't know if I can. Every minute I'm with him, it's a struggle not to confess that I'm the reason he's in this situation.

Sharon: You can't think like that. J.T. Is responsible, not you.

Nikki: I know I defended my daughter that night. I did what I had to do. But somehow, it just seems like J.T. Is dragging me down to his level. You know, maybe that's who i really am.

Sharon: Absolutely not. Don't go there. We all got involved in something ugly, something wrong, and we had to make decisions on the fly, but we did the best we could. We're all good people. All of us are. We just need to remember that and we need to believe it.

Nikki: Thanks, sharon. I needed to hear that.

[ Shrubs rustling ]

Nikki: [ Gasps ]

Sharon: That's weird.

Nikki: What was that?

Sharon: Maybe someone's outside.

Nikki: What?

[ Screaming ]
