Episode #11434 ~ Cane spars with Jack, Devon opens up to Hilary, and Ashley and Victoria join forces.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Abby: If it's about the bra, then no.
Arturo: The bra belongs to lola.
Abby: Does lola get what lola wants?
Arturo: [ Scoffs ] Yeah. She's my baby sister, so usually she does.
Abby: I'm sorry. I was wrong.
Jack: Mother, is phillip the man you went to the stardust inn with?
Dina: Phillip is your father.
Jack: You have no idea how you just changed my life.
Cane: I know why you want to do this -- 'cause you lost control of your own company, and now you want to use this to get some sort of claim over chancellor.
Jack: No, that is not what this is about.
Devon: You said you freaked out when she told you she'd had sex with someone?
Charlie: Yeah.
Devon: Why'd you do that?
Charlie: I don't know.
Devon: Could it be because you haven't yet?
Hilary: I just hate that shauna and charlie have to feel judged for being who they are or who they aren'T.
And in business news, word today that the C.E.O. Of newman enterprises, victor newman, has allegedly been hiding a very serious medical condition.
Victor: I'm seeing a specialist.
Victoria: For what?
Victor: Some issues that came up after the fall I took.
Ashley: Oh, my.
Abby: Ooh. Who's the scandal about? Tell me. Do I know them?
Ashley: You tell me. "A robust figure at the top of his game, in fighting form."
Abby: Mm. An olympic athlete. Winter or summer games?
Ashley: Oh, these games are played year-round. But he did win the gold in spin-doctoring.
Abby: Dad?
Ashley: Here's a lovely slide show to accompany this glowing copy. Here's one with your father. He's horseback riding.
Abby: [ Laughs ]
Ashley: Here he is on the speed bag. Here he is on the heavy bag.
Abby: Mm.
Ashley: Oh, and here he is "with his lovely wife and society doyenne, nicole." All to prove that this negative press about his company and his health could not be further from the truth.
Abby: Hm.
Ashley: "It's clear, after just a few moments with this powerful force of nature, that the rumors of victor newman's decline are not just greatly exaggerated, but absolute falsehoods disseminated by jealous rival companies attempting to take down the looming giant." Oh -- I mean, really.
Abby: Well, this is great news for us.
Ashley: Not really, because anybody with half a brain could see right through this. It just makes victor and newman look that must more desperate.
Ashley: Okay, so, you think dad's lying? You think he's actually sick?
Ashley: He's not a god, even though he likes to think that he is, and recovery takes time. But it's not just his health that I'm worried about. Whoever took that confidential information from newman is playing the long game, which means they're not gonna back down just because of a puff piece.
Abby: Well, people have tried to take down dad before. He always wins.
Ashley: I appreciate your loyalty to your father, but i think we have to be realistic. I've heard some rumors that we're about to lose some very big contracts. Possibly more. Which means more negative press, which means more vicious rumors, which means more lack of trust in newman and anybody associated with newman, which means we're all in a very dangerous position.
Abby: I didn't realize.
Ashley: I know.
Abby: But that's all speculation.
Ashley: Well, based on events and logic.
[ Abby sighs ] Whoever has that information hasn't released any of it, which means it could be death by a thousand cuts or one fell swoop. Either way, we're in a very precarious situation.
Abby: Okay, so, what do we do to get in front of it?
Ashley: I have to get more answers, which means I have to talk to victoria.
Abby: Instead of dad?
Ashley: Why would i talk to him? He would just give me more of this.
Abby: Okay, you think that victoria is gonna be more honest than dad?
Ashley: Actually, I don't know that at all.
[ Doorbell rings ]
Abby: [ Sighs ] I'll get it. Oh. Uncle jack. Hi. Come in.
Jack: This isn't a bad time, I hope?
Ashley: How long are you gonna keep playing that game, that you don't live here?
Jack: Oh, I see you've read the puff piece on victor! A heroic figure of virile manhood. How does that translate, exactly? Mustache is about to keel over in his soup?
Ashley: Nice of you to say that in front of his daughter.
Jack: Sorry, abby.
Abby: Yeah, I can tell.
Jack: Enough about victor. He's not the star of the day.
Ashley: Oh. Who is?
Jack: That would be me. I'm about to get some closure. About to get rid of that paternity sword that has been hanging over my head.
Ashley: So, what information did you find about your biological father?
Jack: Only that I'm almost 100% certain it was phillip chancellor, and I'm about to get proof to support my gut instincts. Today, I will get a court order to have his body exhumed for a dna test.
Abby: What? No!
Ashley: How morbid can you be? Because of one photograph? Katherine would be horrified.
Jack: It's not just one ph-- mother didn't tell you?
Ashley: No.
Jack: She confirmed it.
Abby: Dina?
Jack: She said yes, emphatically. Phillip chancellor is my father. She actually said his name, and she seemed lucid?
Jack: Not just seemed lucid. She was lucid.
Ashley: [ Sighs ] Okay. Well, given how tenuous mother's memory is, is it possible that maybe she just told you what you wanted to hear?
Jack: No. She was relieved to finally remember it. It helped her every bit as much as it helped me. Think of her situation. She tells the whole world about this indiscretion, and then she can't remember the name of the man with whom she committed it? Now she knows. Now I know.
Ashley: Okay. I-I understand that you want answers. But to disturb a grave is incredibly perverse.
Jack: If there were any other way, believe me, I would pursue it. I need proof -- dna proof -- of who I am. With phillip iii and chance off the grid, this is my only option. Now, I'm gonna go visit dina. And whether it's a good day for her or a bad day, she has already given me what I need.
Abby: What do you think? Do you think that uncle jack's father could really be katherine chancellor's husband?
Ashley: Honestly? No. But you said it yourself -- dina can be very convincing, even when she's out of it.
Abby: And there's nothing we can do about it?
Ashley: Obviously not. When jack gets something in his head, there's no way to stop him. I have my own train wreck to handle.
Hilary: Did you watch the clip?
Devon: Mm-hmm. I think it's gonna be a great segment, too. Did you get a chance to listen to those audio files?
Hilary: Yep. And I think instead of dropping your guests in one per show, we should do a "new music" event -- lots of hype, music-industry press.
Devon: Hmm. I love it. I love it. Hey, shauna, did you get a chance to listen to those files? Those new artists?
Hilary: Shauna?
Shauna: What? Sorry.
Hilary: Is everything okay?
Shauna: Yeah, I'm fine. Is charlie scheduled today?
Devon: Uh, later on, I think. Yeah.
Hilary: Did you hear from him yet?
Shauna: No. But whatever. I-I just didn't want things to be weird. At work. You know.
Hilary: Do you want to go just grab some coffee? You know, maybe take a break?
Shauna: Um, I'll go listen to those acts you were telling me about.
Hilary: What happened to you talking some sense into charlie?
Devon: Well, I thought I said all the right things. Thought charlie was gonna step up and handle the situation.
Hilary: Well, obviously he didn'T.
Devon: Well, she's dealing with it. She's like you. She's tough.
Hilary: Really? That's your takeaway?
Devon: Am I missing something?
Hilary: Either shauna is covering up her true feelings, or I overstepped by telling her that she was too good for charlie.
Devon: You said that to her?
Lily: Hey.
Devon: Hey, guys.
Charlie: Hey.
Hilary: Don't worry. We will make this right.
Devon: And how are we gonna do that?
Hilary: One of us just has to get a little creative. Lily. Do you have a sec?
Lily: Um, okay. What is it?
Hilary: I'm only gonna say this once in my life, so savor the moment. I need your help.
Abby: Mm! Is dina having one of her bad days? You look upset.
Jack: It's not dina. The judge denied my request. No order to exhume. Jill's lawyers fought tooth and nail. And, of course, she was conveniently out of town, where she didn't have to face me.
Abby: I'm sorry, uncle jack. I know that's a big letdown. But maybe the judge didn't have enough reason to go that --
Jack: Well, the judge was wrong, then! And I'm gonna take a lesson from the opposition. I'm gonna fight this tooth and nail.
Hilary: Ignoring me should work for five seconds. Four. Three.
Lily: Okay. Fine. I'm intrigued that you need my help. Now, what mess did you create this time? And not that I'm gonna fix it. I'm just curious. It's not for me. It's for charlie and shauna.
Lily: Oh. Why would those two need your help?
Hilary: Well, you haven't noticed? They've been getting along great, but now --
Lily: No, no, no. No, no. I am not getting involved in a teenage romance, okay? And besides, they don't want adults involved.
Hilary: [ Scoffs ]
Lily: And no offense, hilary, but you might be great with showing shauna the ropes with business, but I think a feral cat knows more about interpersonal relationships than you do.
Hilary: Oh. Well. This is great parenting education. So, let me see if I understand this correctly -- if a child looks lonely and miserable and doesn't know how to fix it, a responsible parent should say, "nope. Not my problem."
Lily: Okay, charlie is not miserable and lonely.
Hilary: [ Scoffs ]
Charlie: Uh, I didn't know you were gonna be here.
Shauna: Hilary dragged me in.
Hilary: Yeah. You're right. It's totally fine to look that miserable. Let's not interfere.
Lily: I guess I know now why he's been moping around the house lately.
Hilary: So? You're in?
Lily: [ Sighs ] I'm in.
[ Knock on door ]
Victoria: Yes? Oh. Ashley. What can I do for you?
Ashley: I would love to have some straight answers. Fluffy press arranged by neil is fine for the outside world, but not with me. I've heard some rumors that we're in danger of losing partners.
Victoria: Well, partnerships come and go every cycle, so... it's being handled.
Ashley: No, I feel like I'm being handled. Stop blowing smoke with me, victoria. How serious is this?
Victoria: Are you asking me if you should jump ship for another job? Because if this is a sign of your lack of confidence in newman enterprises, then by all means, jump.
Devon: I would love to get your take on those singles you listened to.
Shauna: Yeah?
Devon: Absolutely. You are lp's target demo.
Hilary: And you have excellent taste.
Lily: Hey!
Cane: Hey.
Devon: Hello.
Lily: I didn't know that you guys would be here.
Devon: Yeah. Why don't you all join us?
Lily: Um, yeah. That -- that's perfect. I'm gonna get some chairs.
Cane: Sure. Yeah. This is gonna be fun.
Abby: This round is on me. I have to get that out of the way after ditching you yesterday. It was a work crisis, but still. I owe you.
Arturo: No. No, it should be on me for barging into your workplace.
Abby: I'm glad you did. Extra points for perseverance, and for setting the record straight. The next time I find a bra in your sofa, I won't make any assumptions.
Arturo: So you've decided to come back to my place?
Abby: Not right this second.
Arturo: Well, no. I mean, you know, some other time.
Abby: We'll have to wait and see. Thank you.
Arturo: Thanks. So, I, uh -- I take it I'm not like most men you've dated.
Abby: Meaning what?
Arturo: Mm. You know, no second home in aspen. Living with my kid sister, and other little details.
Abby: Mm.
Arturo: [ Chuckles ]
Abby: How very sweet. You suddenly know my entire dating history.
[ Laughs ] Uh, yeah, no. Um, let's see. Doctor, cop, bartender, artist, and some other really horrible people I pray I can forget about.
Arturo: Wow. Sounds like we both have a lot to learn about each other.
Abby: I hope so.
Lily: You know, it's funny how we come here all the time, but yet we still look at the menu.
[ Chuckles ]
Hilary: Well, there are two new salads on there, so...
Lily: Oh! Yes, you're right.
Mattie: Why are they --
Cane: So, uh, who's thinking of sharing a bottle of wine?
Hilary: I would love to, but I'M...
Charlie: Pregnant.
Shauna: Pregnant.
Lily: Pregnant.
Hilary: Stop it. I don't say it that much.
Lily: Oh, it's only every other word that comes out of your mouth.
Hilary: I'm not gonna apologize for making this pregnancy my priority.
Lily: Yeah, that's fine. As long as you realize it's not the center of everyone else's day.
Mattie: I think maybe the salmon.
Cane: Yeah. Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing.
Hilary: You know, that sounds great.
Lily: Oh, and so does the tuna tartare.
Hilary: Well, I would love to, but my doctor advised against eating raw fish.
Lily: [ Sighs ] Oh, my gosh.
Mattie: Oh, no.
[ Clears throat ]
Devon: All right. I'm not gonna ignore this, as much as I wish I could. Um, on father's day, you two made a point of being accepting of hilary and me. And I hope that that wasn't just for show, because it means something to me. And hilary and I are in this together. We've owned up to our past mistakes. We've learned from them. And we're committed to each other, and to building this family that we're starting. All right? And this baby is coming, and we're gonna do whatever it takes to make sure it has the best life possible. And I'm not just talking about money. Now, I already adore this child, and I hope that the people in our lives closest to us will feel the same way. Now, maybe that's selfish, you know, but we're all family. And we love your kids. We just hope that you'll be able to love ours. And I think the only way we can really do that is to put the past behind us. And you need to know, I'm never just gonna sit back and let her get insulted or slighted. I can't do that and be the kind of partner and father that I need to be. So, can we all do this, and be the family that I know we can be?
Mattie: Don't they normally bring some rolls?
Charlie: Dibs on the whole wheat.
Mattie: Since when do you like wheat?
Shauna: It has raisins.
Mattie: Since when do you like raisins?
Hilary: Family is important to devon.
Lily: Yeah. It's important to us, too.
Hilary: Yeah, I know. And I know that you have your reasons for feeling the way that you do about me. But family matters to me, too. Okay? My mother... is gone. And she was it for me. There's no one else. Until now. The people at this table. And I see what you guys have with your kids. And neil, and devon. I've never had that. Sometimes I don't even think that I understand it. But I want my child to know it. And I want my baby to know exactly what it feels like to have that kind of love. So I am willing to make the effort, for his or her sake, and I hope you are, too.
Lily: Of course.
Cane: Yeah. We'll try harder.
Devon: Good.
Charlie: And, for the record, there is no reason whole-wheat rolls should exist.
Mattie: I knew it.
Shauna: Fine. More for me.
Lily: Oh, that must be the famous arturo. Abby, hey. Good to see you.
Abby: Hi! Good to see you. I wanted you to meet my friend, arturo. Arturo, this is lily, cane, hilary, and devon.
Devon: Yeah, we've already met, actually. Good to see you.
Arturo: Good to see you, too, man.
Lily: Yeah. Kids?
Mattie: Hi. Um, I'm mattie.
Charlie: Charlie.
Shauna: Shauna. I'm a family friend.
Arturo: Pleasure.
Charlie: What is "sus viday"?
Arturo: Sous vide. It's when you put something in a baggie and low-key boil it.
Charlie: For real?
Shauna: For real. That's next on my chef to-do list.
Hilary: Shauna is obsessed with cooking shows. Are you?
Arturo: No. No, my sister is, though. She's the culinary artist in the family. I'm more addicted to not eating at home.
[ Laughter ]
Lily: Well, maybe shauna can turn you on to a show, and that way you don't have to eat out every night.
Arturo: I don't know. Maybe I should stick to grilling for now.
Devon: Grilling, hey, that's your specialty. You guys should have a grill-off.
Hilary: Oh, you're on.
Arturo: Hey, name the time and place.
[ Laughter ]
Abby: Well, it was great to see you guys. Enjoy your dinner.
Lily: Yeah, thanks. You too.
Devon: See ya.
Abby: Bye.
Lily: Didn't jack lose his bid to disturb the chancellor grave?
Cane: Yeah, he did.
Lily: Then why does he look like he won?
Victoria: Shouldn't you be off working on your letter of resignation?
Ashley: You know, you act like I'm gonna storm out of here in a huff, and it's quite the opposite that's true. I'm willing to stand here as long as I need to to prove to you that I am a loyal newman executive that will do whatever I have to do to protect this company. But I can't do that without the facts, victoria. I've heard rumors that we're in danger of losing some very big contracts.
Victoria: From whom?
Ashley: Why the hell does that even matter?
Victoria: It matters if you expect me to believe that you know something as opposed to just bluffing.
Ashley: Who are we losing? And who is threatening to walk?
Victoria: [ Sighs ]
Ashley: The priority here is cutting off the leak. So if J.T. Has --
Victoria: It's not J.T.
Ashley: Well, then, you know who it is?
Victoria: No. Of course I don't know who it is.
Ashley: Well, then, how can you be so sure it's not J.T.? Could we please be on the same side here? If you know something, spit it out. What your father's doing is not solving the issue. But if you and I work together, we could actually save this company. Ugh!
Victoria: All right. All right. We'll work together. But we're not wasting our time chasing after false leads. It's not J.T.
Ashley: Well, okay. Let's find out who this bastard is.
Devon: And so he wants to exhume katherine's late husband to check the dna 'cause of a hunch that he has?
Cane: He has all sorts of rationalizations.
Devon: Well, it's a good thing that jill hired a lawyer to fight him, 'cause that's insane, and it's not okay.
Lily: Well, clearly jack disagrees. And here he comes.
Cane: Jack. Hey.
Jack: Cane.
Cane: Uh, this is a family meal, so if you would excuse us... and since the attorneys already handled everything today, the, uh, subject is now closed.
Jack: Well, that was just round one. See, now I'm suing jill. And when I'm done, we will get a very different court ruling. How's the name jack abbott chancellor sound to you?
Cane: Jack, I don't understand what's happening to you. Does your family know about your obsession to try and find your father, and your insistence that it's phillip chancellor? Do they know this?
Jack: All evidence points toward phillip.
Cane: Jack, jack. There's no evidence, okay? All you have is a photograph and a lie. And take it from someone who tried to con their way into the chancellor family -- it doesn't work.
Jack: And here you are, running chancellor industries, benefiting from another family's legacy.
Devon: That's right, jack. It's from my family, right?
Jack: Are you aware that katherine and john abbott had a special moment in time? You didn't know that, did you?
Devon: I did not know that. But what's your point?
Jack: Well, we're practically family already.
Devon: Okay. Leave it at that.
Jack: I deserve to know who my father is. All I need is proof.
Cane: Okay --
Hilary: That seems reasonable enough.
Devon: There is nothing reasonable about you digging up the corpse of my grandmother's late husband.
Hilary: I didn't mean that he should. Just that of course he would want to know. Jack, there must be some other way that you can --
Jack: We don't need another way. This works just fine.
Cane: You just went to court, okay, and if you had any evidence, the judge would have agreed with you, okay, but he didn'T. So you lost, because what you're asking for is outrageous.
Jack: And you know that how?
Cane: 'Cause --
Jack: How?
Cane: Jack --
Jack: This all happened before you were born. Years before. Decades before you even knew the chancellors existed.
Cane: You already have a family. It's called the abbotts, ok and you have a company. It's called jabot. So what is it you're trying to get out of this? What is it you want?
Jack: Okay. This is all becoming clearer to me. It isn't me you're worried about. You're shaking in your boots because you're concerned about your tenuous position. And I can understand that. You're only at chancellor because you stole a name and were handed a company.
Lily: No. Cane earned what he has. He earned katherine and jill's love and trust. And day in and day out, he proves he's the right man for the job.
Jack: Katherine had a soft spot in her heart for cane, no doubt about that. She also cared about family, as I do.
Cane: Do you think she'd want you in her family? Is that what you think? You think that she would just open her home and her company to you? Because, jack, you know what i think you want here? You want a title, and you want a corner office. That's what you want in life.
Devon: Cane, let's relax. Let's relax.
Cane: It's what he wants. It's what he wants from this.
Devon: Listen. Jack, you know I, of all people, can appreciate you needing to know who your biological father is, right --
Jack: Yes, I do. 'Cause you've been in the same situation -- tucker mccall.
Devon: Yes.
Jack: Your father was your connection to katherine.
Cane: Whoa. Wait, wait, wait.
Jack: Phillip chancellor is my connection to all of you, and I'm sure she would embrace me every bit as much as she embraced you.
Cane: Okay, listen, you have no connection to katherine. Listen, for the record, okay, her first husband gave her the company, and then she changed the name to chancellor, and all you're doing is angling for a position. That's what you're doing here.
Jack: Wow. This is a lot of indignation from a self-confessed fraud. Are you really so threatened by running up against a real chancellor that you'd stand in the way of my finding proof? What does this exhumation mean to you, cane? Nothing! Nothing at all. This is none of your concern.
Cane: Do you have any idea how deranged you sound? You sound deranged.
Jack: This is about my family! This is about my life!
Devon: Relax, jack.
Ashley: Jack! Come over here.
Cane: [ Sighs ] The man has a family. He's already got a family.
Lily: Yeah, I know. I know.
Hilary: But to not know who your real father is?
Cane: Oh, please. He knows who his father is. It's john abbott. He's just trying to trade up. That's all he's trying to do.
Devon: If she doesn't know already, jill needs to be told that he's planning to sue her.
Cane: I have to go and call jill.
Devon: Let's go.
Lily: Well, so much for fixing things between charlie and shauna.
Hilary: Where is...?
Lily: Wait, where did they -- well, I guess they found some middle ground.
Ashley: Jackie --
Jack: Don't look at me that way.
Ashley: I just want to talk to you.
Jack: Don't talk to me like I'm out of control.
Ashley: Dina's word, that's all you've got. And a photograph. That's what you're building your hopes on.
Jack: That's right. That's all I've got. I lose that, I've got nothing.
Ashley: That's not true. You've got exactly the same thing you had before you found out about dad.
Jack: You know what? This is a setback. That's all it is. I am going to drag jill's sorry ass to court. Not her stand-in. Not her attorney. Not her stepson, with his over-inflated ego. I am going to sue for access to the grounds and phillip's dna.
Ashley: Jack, you're not just taking on jill. You're taking on the ashbys. You're taking on devon. You're taking on everybody that holds katherine's memory dear. Now, why do you think that a court is gonna rule in your favor, why they're gonna listen to you and not all of them?
Jack: Because it won't be just me. Dina is my star witness.
Ashley: Okay. You are not thinking straight.
Jack: Oh, sure I am. The judge needs evidence. He needs proof. Dina will give it to him.
Ashley: You can't do that to her!
Jack: Do what? She gets to tell her story. She loves to do that.
Ashley: Oh, my god.
Jack: An entire audience in rapt attention, hanging on her every word. She's doing this for me. She knows how much it means to me. It made her very happy to finally remember who my father was. This is gonna bring closure for all of us.
Ashley: Okay, you know what? This is a fantasy that you've created to make yourself feel better, because she is too fragile for this. She has more bad days than she has good days, and you know this. She could get up on the stand and spin out. She barely made it through the last time she was in court, jack. And she was in a lot better shape then.
Jack: I'll take my chances.
Ashley: This is about dina's chances, not yours. What would you do if she got up there and she just freaked out in front of a bunch of strangers, not knowing why she was there? What everybody wanted from her? If you can't see how despicable that is, then you're no better than graham, trying to use an old woman to get your own way. Forget about being a real abbott. You're proving to the world you're not even a real human being.
[ Cellphone buzzes ]
[ Sighs ] Neil, this isn't a good time.
[ Sighs ] Okay. Okay, yeah. Yeah, she has to be warned. Okay.
Lily: So, any idea where charlie is?
Mattie: Where you want him to be -- with shauna. Please don't tell me you thought any of that was subtle? "Oh, hi, devon. We work in the same office, but I had no idea you'd be eating here. And let's casually make shauna and charlie sit together." And honestly, you teaming up with hilary? Dead giveaway right there.
[ Laughs ]
Cane: Okay. All right.
Lily: Fair enough. Fair enough. Well, where did he go, and how are they getting along?
Mattie: They're at crimson lights. But please don't make me ask him, "are you guys holding hands?" Because that's just weird. Can I head home? I have some summer reading that I want to get done.
Cane: Go. Hey. Thank you for humoring us.
Mattie: Mm. Mr. Abbott was pretty mad. I wasn't listening, but --
Cane: I'm sorry you saw that.
Mattie: Is he gonna make any trouble for you?
Cane: No, sweetheart. That's not gonna happen. Don't worry about it.
Lily: [ Sighs ] She trusts you.
Cane: She should.
Lily: Well, I heard what jack said, so be honest -- is he a threat to the company?
Cane: I promise you, I will protect chancellor with every fiber of my being.
Charlie: [ Chuckles ] You know he just picked it up and ate it anyway.
Shauna: He did not!
Charlie: Yeah. You've seen the guy eat.
Shauna: Yeah, but seriously? That's just gross.
[ Both laugh ]
Charlie: Look... I wanted to call you as soon as it happened.
Shauna: But you didn'T.
Charlie: Yeah. It was stupid of me to run out on you the other night. Just so you know, I wasn't judging you or anything.
Shauna: Except I saw the look on your face.
Charlie: But that wasn't because of what you've done. It's because of what I haven'T.
Shauna: Oh. But...you're not mad that I --
Charlie: No! No. Your business is your business. I was just...
Shauna: You know that's not a big deal to me, right? I mean, yes, sex is a big deal, but it's not like I'm all ready for you and me to --
[ Sighs ] Look, we just started hanging out. And...I want to keep doing that. If you do.
Charlie: So we're a thing? Officially?
Shauna: We are a thing.
[ Giggles ]
Devon: Here you go.
Hilary: Thank you.
Devon: Mm-hmm.
Hilary: So, our girl is back with her guy.
Devon: Really? She said that?
Hilary: Basically. She sent me a bunch of heart-eyed emojis.
Devon: Aww. That's real romance right there.
[ Chuckles ]
Hilary: Romance was you standing up for me -- for us -- downstairs. Just laying it all out there, that we were all family. After everything that we've been through, it doesn't matter. Because here we are.
Devon: The stakes are high. And that's why we're in this together.
Hilary: Are we? Because I know that we're here for the baby.
Devon: And each other.
Hilary: In all ways? Every way? Because I can't help think that...
Devon: Can't help think what?
Hilary: That we're not really there yet.
Devon: Okay. Well, I know what's missing. I love you. And if you didn't know, this is me completely in. Completely in love.
Abby: [ Chuckling ] Well, that was crazy at the club. [ Laughs ] But you didn't run. You didn't freak, even when you knew everyone was clearly studying your every move. You showed them that you're a foodie who can break up a fight about dead bodies and dna tests.
[ Laughs ] And fyi, that wasn't even that crazy of a night as far as my life goes.
Arturo: Hey, every family has their own thing. Okay? I'm not about to be scared off.
Abby: Mm. Well, one thing's for sure -- I will never bore you. Uh... [ Laughs ] That's, um -- that's, uh -- I'm not assuming that, you know, you're gonna be around that long.
Arturo: Hm. Because you -- you don't want me around?
Abby: Obviously I don't feel that way.
Arturo: So, you do want me around?
Abby: We don't have to label it.
Arturo: Okay. That's fine. No labels. But honesty, we need that. Otherwise the deal's off.
Abby: I'm good with that. Starting now. I honestly want to kiss you.
Cane: Hey. You know it's all because of you, right?
Lily: What is?
Cane: Anything I am. Everything I fight for. It's because of you. Because with you by my side, I feel like I can't lose.
Lily: Aww.
Cane: I mean it, baby. I mean it.
Hilary: I love you, too, devon hamilton.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Okay. "Working together" doesn't mean barging in, to be clear.
Ashley: I got some information from neil that he got from victor.
Abby: About what?
Ashley: It's very hush-hush. And I'm only bringing neil's name into it because I want you to know that my source is reliable.
Victoria: Go on.
Ashley: J.T.'S credit card was used at a motel outside of genoa city. He checked out today.
Victoria: Someone using J.T.'S credit card doesn't mean it's J.T. He's not stupid, okay? He's not gonna leave a trail. But whoever is trying to torture us with this isn't stupid, either. They hacked into newman. They took J.T.'S credit information. And they're clearly exploiting the fact that he's missing.
Ashley: Victoria, the investigators have eyewitnesses. They saw the man, and the description matches. J.T. Is cocky. I think he's unhinged. And he's back. So you better brace yourself. He could walk through those doors at any minute.
