Episode #11427 ~ Nick stuns Sharon, Summer angles to get closer to Billy, and Brittany interrogates Victoria about J.T.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Dina: What are you doing with that? Those are my private things!
Jack: I-I'm -- I'm sorry. I didn't know it was yours.
Kyle: Did you find the pages?
Jack: No. But I did find this. Whatever this opens, I hope it brings me closer to finding out who my father is.
Summer: You're turned on, aren't you?
Billy: That's not at all what's happening here.
Summer: It's okay. I think you're hot, too. All right. Then I'll just have to go with my backup plan. With lauren. At fenmore'S. And since I'll be right down the hall, we'll get to have even more fun and games.
Sharon: I don't want to be the reason why you lose your son!
Nick: You're not going to be.
While a strong argument's been made for nicholas newman to remain as christian's primary guardian, I am troubled by ms. Newman's presence in the home.
Sharon: Watching christian with victor on father's day was... you have got to put an end to this, brittany.
Brittany: Right now, it's in the hands of the social worker.
Nick: So when's this visit gonna be?
Brittany: I'm sorting out the details now.
Nick: So, what happens? Somebody, like, watches me with christian?
Brittany: You, sharon. They'll want to see how he is with you, and how you are with him.
Nick: Great. Bring 'em on. They'll see how happy and well-adjusted he is.
Sharon: And loved.
Nick: It'll take them like two minutes to see this is where he belongs. With me and sharon and faith and mariah. This is what's best for him.
Brittany: They're gonna want to question them, too.
Sharon: Well, good. Because mariah is more than willing to tell them how victor tried to drive me crazy by using her to make me believe that cassie was alive.
Nick: Faith isn't real happy with her grandpa, either, right now.
Brittany: Well, their statements will definitely help your case. But, as we already saw, anything's possible in a custody fight.
Nick: Judge got it wrong the first time. This is war. I'm not gonna let my father win.
Brittany: I hope you're right.
Nick: There is no way I am letting him raise my son, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn't happen.
Sharon: We both will. All right. Now, I have got to get to the coffeehouse. Brittany, thank you for everything. Um, let me know if you hear anything about the social worker.
Nick: Yeah. Will do.
Sharon: Okay. Bye.
Nick: Bye.
[ Sighs ] Are, uh, we good?
Brittany: Uh... actually, there's one more thing I want to discuss with you.
Nick: Yeah. Sure.
Brittany: I know you see victor getting temporary custody of christian as a minor setback. But it's not gonna be easy getting the arbitrator to reverse her decision.
Nick: Okay. What are you saying?
Brittany: The stakes are high now. Higher than they've ever been. If you want your son back, you're gonna have to make a drastic move.
Nick: Such as?
Brittany: You need to consider whether you should break up with sharon.
Summer: You know, I've worked here before, so you don't really need to show me around.
Phyllis: I know. But billy has made some changes. He's "hipped" the place up.
Summer: Mm. With popcorn?
Phyllis: Yeah, and that's just for starters. He's really turned this company into something sleek and sophisticated.
Summer: Mm. Mm-hmm. So, tell, me what else around here is a billy abbott original?
Phyllis: I will let you discover that for yourself.
Summer: Oh, come on. You're already giving me the grand tour.
Phyllis: Despite your cynicism, I'm very glad that you took my advice and decided to get a job.
Summer: Well, I'm just trying to prove to you that I can be an actual adult.
Phyllis: We're gonna have fun, the two of us working together here.
Summer: Yeah. Well, as long as you don't start packing my lunch for me every day, then I'm on board. You know, why don't we say hi to billy? Since we're here.
Phyllis: Well, gloria the guard dog isn't here to stop us, so yeah, why not?
Billy: Come in.
Phyllis: Got a minute?
Billy: Ah, anything for you.
Summer: How about for me?
Billy: Fenmore's newest employee? Absolutely.
Phyllis: I was just showing summer around, telling her about all your improvements.
Summer: Mm-hmm. Oh, I love the popcorn.
Billy: Yeah, well, I want people to be excited to come to work.
Summer: I know I will be.
Billy: Well, good luck in your new job.
Summer: Thanks. I have a unique skill set that I am confident I can use to succeed here.
Phyllis: Yes. Don't underestimate my daughter.
Jack: I never thought I would one day literally be holding the key to who I am in my hand.
Kyle: It's pretty old-school in today's high-tech world.
Jack: Has dina said anything about it being missing?
Kyle: I don't even think dina's noticed it's gone. You had any luck figuring out what it goes to?
Jack: Well, look. You can see the manufacturer's name right there. It's pretty faint.
Kyle: Yeah. I see it.
Jack: Okay. So I contacted them. They said they don't even make that key anymore, but they could help me find out what it opens.
Kyle: [ Sighs ] Dad... even if they can tell you what it opens, it might not lead to the missing pages in dina's journal.
Jack: Yeah, I know that. But it's all I have right now. Keep in mind, the other key in that box was to the motel room where my mother and my biological father secretly met. Clearly, she kept things from that time in her life.
Kyle: Have you figured out what you're gonna do if this isn't the key to finding dina's mystery lover? Literally or figuratively?
Jack: It opens something, kyle. I'm not going to give up until I find out what.
Phyllis: All right. Let's talk about your first project.
Summer: Ooh, something sexy and exciting, I hope.
Phyllis: You're gonna be working with me on an e-commerce marketing plan.
Summer: So neither.
Phyllis: Okay. We're gonna be using the latest software to retain our existing customer. We're gonna upsell so we can generate new referrals.
Summer: Wow. Wow. Yeah, um... I hate to complain on my first day and all...
Phyllis: But?
Summer: ...But I was hoping I could do something a little more...
Phyllis: "Sexy and exciting"?
Summer: ...Me.
Phyllis: What did you have in mind?
Summer: Well, I've interned for jabot before, and I've done modeling for them, so I thought jabot would be a good fit for me.
Phyllis: Okay. The only problem with that is that lauren hired you at fenmore's and not at jabot.
Summer: Right. Right. Okay. So here's what I was thinking. I could do something where the two companies overlap. Like, um, an advertising campaign for jabot products sold exclusively at fenmore'S.
Phyllis: Okay. That could work. Billy's always talking about corporate synergy. But you're gonna have to run this by him first.
Summer: Yeah, of course.
Phyllis: Okay. Might as well do that now.
Summer: You know what, uh, why don't you go talk to billy alone? 'Cause I don't want him to feel like we're ganging up on him.
Phyllis: Lucky for you, I have a way with him.
Summer: Well, I'll just wait right here.
Billy: It's open.
Phyllis: Me again.
Billy: Ahh. And you're solo this time. Fantastic. How's summer settling in to fenmore's?
Phyllis: Actually, that's what I want to talk to you about.
Billy: Oh, come on. Don't tell me there's a problem already.
Phyllis: No. More of a re-evaluation of her situation.
Billy: And the rough translation of that would be...?
Phyllis: I want to put her in a position that utilizes all of her talents.
Billy: I'm almost afraid to ask.
Phyllis: She has experience here at jabot.
Billy: Well, an internship and some modeling doesn't exactly qualify as "experience," but....
Phyllis: She's full of energy. She's got a lot of ideas. One of which is a jabot/fenmore's crossover project. It has potential.
Billy: Hold on a second --
Phyllis: Now, you could give her help, and give it legs.
Billy: Are you asking if she can work here with me?
Phyllis: I can't think of a better mentor.

Billy: I'm not sure summer working at jabot is a good idea.
Phyllis: Why not?
Billy: For one thing, lauren just hired her at fenmore'S.
Phyllis: And she would still be working at fenmore'S. And on something that would benefit jabot, as well. Corporate synergy. Isn't that what you've been preaching?
Billy: Not exactly what I was talking about.
Phyllis: But it could work. And if she is more comfortable working closely with jabot...
Billy: Hold on a second. Was this summer's idea?
Phyllis: She suggested it.
[ Billy sighs ] I'm on board with it. And I am not sure why you have a problem with it.
Billy: [ Huffs ] It's just not a good fit.
Phyllis: Summer and beauty products?
Billy: Working at jabot is a little more complicated than that.
Phyllis: I get it. You don't think she's up for the job.
Billy: Summer doesn't exactly have corporate experience, okay, and [Scoffs] We're talking about summer here.
Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Just give her a chance.
Billy: Mm. No, that's exactly what I'm doing. I am giving her a chance to succeed. Working with you, very, very closely, for the next two or three months. A little bit of that phyllis magic rubbing off would be the best thing for her.
Phyllis: And I would love nothing more. I even suggested it to her. But she doesn't want to work with me.
Billy: Make her listen. You're her boss.
Phyllis: I am also her mom. And that is more important to me.
Billy: Yeah, and I feel like she's taking advantage of both those things.
Phyllis: She's finally getting her act together, okay?
Billy: Uh...
Phyllis: She actually woke up before "price is right" this morning.
Billy: Really? That is actually progress. I still don't think --
Phyllis: You heard the way we argued over responsibility. I said some horrible things to her.
Billy: She gave just as good as she got, phyllis.
Phyllis: I know. But I feel like she is finally meeting me halfway. I have to show her that I trust her...
[ Billy sighs ] ...And that I believe she can handle something this important.
Billy: And what if she can't? Then what?
Phyllis: I'll be there. I won't be far away. And, you know, I-I -- I'll be overseeing every aspect of the project. If there's a problem, I'll be there.
Billy: [ Sighs ] I don't know.
Phyllis: Please? For me?
Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Gloria would not like your feet on her desk.
Summer: If she was here on time, they wouldn't be. How do you drink that stuff?
Kyle: Sort of goes hand in hand with the whole "having a job" thing. You'll get used to it.
Summer: Is there an espresso machine around here?
Kyle: Kitchen. Down the hall. And if you plan on sitting at this desk all day, you get the responsibilities that go along with it. Like coffee orders. Would you grab me a cup? Black. No sugar.
Summer: Well, then, I guess you haven't heard I'm working on a high-level project here at jabot.
Kyle: Ohhh. Marketing research for spoiled, rich, trust-fund brats?
Summer: You don't believe me?
Kyle: Why should I trust anything you say?
Summer: Well, you didn't used to feel that way.
Kyle: Well, I'm a lot smarter now.
Summer: All right. Then tell me this, einstein -- who do I see about getting a better parking spot?
Sharon: Oh, hi, victoria.
Victoria: Hey.
Sharon: So, how was the father's day celebration after we left?
Victoria: It was weird. Sad.
Sharon: Nick hated to leave christian, but we had to get out of there.
Victoria: Yeah. How is nick doing?
Sharon: How you would expect someone would be doing after their child was unjustly taken away from them. He'S...torn up inside. But nick's strong. He's trying to remain positive, and I'm doing everything I can just to remind him that this is temporary, and christian's going to be coming back.
Victoria: I really can't believe that things have gone this far.
Sharon: [ Sighs ] Please. It's classic victor. He destroyed adam. Pushed chelsea to run out of town with connor. He's the reason why you lost custody of reed all those years ago.
Victoria: I know. Dad does go too far sometimes.
Sharon: But you'll probably find a way to defend him and blame this custody battle on nick.
Victoria: No. All of this happened because nick wouldn't let dad pit us against one another.
Sharon: Victor should have known nick would never take your job.
Victoria: He stood up to my dad, and it cost him his son.
Sharon: Nick's always been loyal to you.
Victoria: Yes, I know. And that goes both ways. You know, ever since he was born, I've always been there, and done whatever I could for him. So, tell me, what can I do to help?
Sharon: Thank you.
Brittany: Nick, please hear me out.
Nick: No. You can save your breath, 'cause I'm not breaking up with sharon.
Brittany: You're running out of options.
Nick: Well, you can check this one off the list, because I'm not gonna let a court or my dad decide who I can be with.
Brittany: Look, I understand your loyalty to sharon, but as your attorney, I have to tell you, she's a liability. Just look at her history with christian.
Nick: She loved a child that she thought was hers.
Brittany: And kept him when she knew he wasn'T. Add that to her mental instability...
Nick: Just because someone has a mental disorder doesn't mean they can't be a good parent.
Brittany: No, it doesn'T. But the arbitrator is going to weigh everything when it comes to deciding who should raise christian.
Nick: It should be me.
Brittany: But she will be living in your home, effectively acting as another parent.
Nick: She's not acting it, okay? She is going to be christian's mother. She already is.
Brittany: That's the problem.
Nick: How can having a mother who cares for you and loves you and protects you as if you were their own be a problem? Look at mariah and faith and noah. Sharon is the best mother they could have.
Brittany: You didn't always feel that way.
Nick: Well, I was wrong. And if you need me to say that in the next arbitration hearing, then I will.
Brittany: The point is, sharon had a right to parent her own children. She has no legal or biological connection to christian.
Nick: She loves him. That is a stronger connection than my father can ever claim to have.
Brittany: The arbitrator could rule that regaining custody of your son is contingent upon sharon not being part of christian's life.
Nick: [ Sighs ] Well, I just refuse to believe that that's gonna happen.
Brittany: If it does, you're gonna have to make a decision about who is more important to you. Christian or sharon.
Sharon: I'm sorry. I have learned to cope better with stressful situations, but this is just really hard, watching nick lose his son.
Victoria: You both have been through so much.
Sharon: I didn't want him to see how worried I am, because he already has so much going on.
Victoria: I wish I could help.
Sharon: You are.
Victoria: No, I-I wish I could do more. Maybe I can talk to my dad and see if I can get him to drop the suit.
Sharon: [ Sighs ] Nikki already tried that, and he wouldn't budge. And if she can't get through to him, I don't think anyone can. I just wish... never mind.
Victoria: No. Sharon, what? What were you gonna say?
Sharon: I was gonna say, just sometimes I think that this is my fault.
Victoria: [ Scoffs ] Why would you say that?
Sharon: Because victor used my mental instability to gain temporary custody of christian.
Victoria: That's awful. I'm disgusted that dad stooped so low. I shouldn't be surprised, though.
Sharon: We've all learned the hard way -- victor's capable of anything.
Kyle: See you found the kitchen all right. Since there's not butler service on this floor, were you able to operate the espresso machine on your own, or did maintenance pitch in?
Summer: Very funny. If I knew you were still here, I would have grabbed that coffee for you. Just kidding.
Kyle: You know, I see this bogus job you convinced billy to give you seems to consist of doing anything but work.
Summer: Wrong.
Kyle: I haven't seen you pick up a pen or pencil all day.
Summer: Billy didn't give me this job.
Kyle: Oh. Phyllis convinced billy to give you a bogus job. Mommy's way of keeping you out of trouble?
Summer: Zero for two, smart guy. But since you're so curious about my life...
Kyle: Not.
Summer: ...Let me fill in the blanks for you. One, my job is not bogus. Two, you really should give billy some more credit. And three, lauren hired me. So I don't need my family to hand me a job.
Kyle: [ Laughs ] So if phyllis hadn't pulled strings to get lauren to hire you, your grandpa would have made you C.E.Something at newman.
[ Footsteps ]
Summer: Well?
Phyllis: Billy agrees a synergy project between jabot and fenmore's is a good idea. He wants you to head it up.
Kyle: Wow! With no experience. That's impressive.
Billy: You know what, kyle? You're right.
Phyllis: I think he's being a little harsh.
Billy: No, this is a lot for summer to take on. And I was very impressed with the way kyle handled the birthday suit promotion.
Kyle: Thank you.
Summer: I wasn't that impressed.
Billy: And I have been looking for another project for you to maximize your creative skills.
Summer: I'm not really sure that full-frontal nudity qualifies as a "creative skill."
Kyle: I know some who would disagree.
Billy: See that right there? This sizzling energy between the two of you? That's exactly what this project needs.
Phyllis: You want summer and kyle to work together?
Billy: Yes.
Kyle: No!
Summer: No!
Billy: Let's not forget who the boss is.
Kyle: Like you'd let us.
Billy: The different styles, your different techniques, the combustion between the two of you. It's gonna make this project blow up. Right?
Summer: Mom --
Phyllis: This is the project you were talking about. Billy's right. You and kyle working together could bring explosive results.
Kyle: Let's hope someone doesn't get killed in the process.
Summer: Well, that won't be me.
Phyllis: Come on, you guys. This is about doing what's best for fenmore's and jabot. Not your own personal interests. Right?
Summer: Right.
Jack: Thank you, mr. Hoffman. I appreciate it. Oh, you have no idea how much this means to me.
[ Chuckles ] I hope so. Thanks.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Well, that sounded like good news.
Jack: Yeah, the best.
Victoria: Good, I'm glad. I know that leaving jabot's been really hard on you. I talked to billy.
Jack: Well, you know what, I've come to terms with it, and, uh -- and the fact that I'm no longer an abbott.
Victoria: I know it can't be easy for you.
Jack: Well, the information i just got could well ease that burden. Help me get on with the next chapter of my life.
Phyllis: I cannot believe that there is not one available table.
Summer: Now, a table, I can wait for. But the thought of having to work with kyle... mm. Mnh-mnh.
Phyllis: You stay professional. You rise above it. You prove to billy that you deserve to be in charge of your next project.
Summer: I thought i deserved it now.
Phyllis: You just want it now. There's a difference.
Nick: Okay. I'll get you those figures later today, and we can wrap up the sale soon. Thanks, bud.
Phyllis: Hey, nick.
Nick: Hey.
Phyllis: What's wrong?
Nick: No, nothing. Just, uh, interesting seeing you two here together. Is it a mother/daughter lunch?
Phyllis: We are celebrating summer's first day of work. She is working on a very big project for jabot and fenmore'S. You care to join us -- when we finally get a table -- for lunch?
Nick: Yeah. Sure. You know, you weren't there for father's day, so that might make up for it.
Phyllis: What are you talking about? Summer spent the whole day with you yesterday.
Nick: Yeah, well, our beautiful daughter, uh, was supposed to be there, but she never quite made it.
Summer: I'm sorry, dad. I am really sorry. I just lost track of time. But you got my text, right?
Nick: Yeah. Yeah, I got your text.
Summer: Okay, well, I meant every word I said. And I really hope it wasn't too big of a deal that I wasn't there.
Nick: Look, your grandfather has temporary custody of my son. So it kind of was a big deal.
Victoria: Thank you so much for meeting with me.
Brittany: I assume this is about the custody dispute.
Victoria: Please, have a seat. I found out on father's day that my dad was granted temporary custody of christian.
Brittany: This must be tearing your family apart.
Victoria: I spoke with sharon earlier, and I told her I would do whatever I could to help nicholas.
Brittany: Would you be willing to testify against your father?
Victoria: Well, you ask the questions, and I'll answer them honestly, which includes saying that I believe that nick is the best person to raise christian.
Brittany: Do you believe that?
Victoria: I know that dad isn't gonna like me siding with nick, but what he's doing is wrong.
Brittany: No one has a right to keep a boy from his father.
Victoria: No.
Brittany: Hits kind of close to home, doesn't it?
Victoria: What?
Brittany: J.T.'S disappearance. It must be hard on reed.
Victoria: Oh. Yes.
Brittany: I don't mean to pry, but raul and I were friends with J.T. We read about him being wanted by the police for attacking victor.
Victoria: You know, I'd rather not talk about this.
Brittany: I understand. It's -- it's just so hard for us to believe that the J.T. That we knew could be so violent.
Victoria: Yes, it was hard for me to believe, too, that he had changed so much.
Brittany: Do you have any idea what caused it?
Victoria: I know that J.T. Had some tough times when he left genoa city. And when I asked him to open up to me about it, he refused to talk about it. So I guess I'll never know.
Brittany: You sound so sure.
Victoria: Well, nobody's been able to find him yet.
Brittany: Well, he can't hide forever. One of these days, he's gonna have to come back and answer for what he did, won't he?
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Kyle: Your text said you had good news.
Jack: Yeah. I wanted to tell you in person.
Kyle: Well?
Jack: It appears the key belongs to a safe-deposit box at city trust and savings.
Kyle: Sounds promising.
Jack: Yeah, I thought so, too.
Kyle: We don't know if the safe-deposit box even belongs to dina. Or if she kept up on the payments all these years --
Jack: We don't know anything until we open the box.
Kyle: Don't you need dina's signature to do that?
Jack: Well, I have her power of attorney now. I give it to the bank officials. They give me access to the box.
Kyle: If it's still there.
Jack: Only one way to find out.
Kyle: Wait, wait, wait. You're going now?
Jack: Yeah. Wish me luck.
Kyle: No way. I'm going with you.
Jack: Oh, no, no, no. You got plenty of important things to do here. Besides, this could be a wild-goose chase for all I know.
Kyle: I told you I was with you on this. I meant it.
Jack: Then let's go.
Summer: I am really sorry that grandpa is being such A... jerk. And I'm really sorry that i wasn't there for you yesterday.
Nick: Ah, you didn't know.
Summer: No, there's no excuse. I mean, it was father's day, and I should have been there for you.
Nick: Well, I forgive you.
Summer: Well, lucky for me you always do. You know, when I thought that jack was my dad, it never, for even one second, changed how I felt about you. I mean, you'll always be my dad, and christian is going to feel the same way.
Nick: Even when he finds out that adam's his real daddy?
Summer: I don't really think that blood matters. It's about... helping someone dig a hole in the backyard that goes all the way to china. Or letting someone believe that they opened the trunk with their magic wand, or giving someone a really stupid nickname that makes them groan, but they secretly love it. That is what makes a dad a dad, and you are the best dad. So you've got nothing to worry about.
Nick: Thanks.
Summer: I am your supergirl. So if you need me to kick some butts for you, I will do that.
Phyllis: Victor doesn't know what he's up against.
Nick: Well, I am glad you two are on my side.
Summer: Yeah, it's weird, 'cause grandpa's the one that always taught me to fight for my family.
Phyllis: Well, now those words are coming back to bite him.
Summer: I'll be right back.
Phyllis: Okay. Truth time. How did victor get custody of christian? Did he bribe the judge? Because any sane, un-bribed judge wouldn't give victor custody of a petri dish.
Nick: Dad took the low road to new depths. He used sharon's mental history against me. And don't say you warned me.
Phyllis: I was gonna say, "victor is scum."
Nick: So you're not gonna attack sharon?
Phyllis: I lost years with daniel because people said I was an unfit mother, and it wasn't true. I loved my son. And I truly believe that sharon loves christian.
Nick: She does. For sure.
Summer: Happy father's day!
Nick: What's this?
Phyllis: [ Laughs ]
Summer: It's a day late, but I hope that that makes up for me being a no-show.
Nick: Oh, well, you're, like, halfway there.
Summer: Mm-hmm. Did I say that you're the best dad ever?
Phyllis: Aww.
Nick: All right. I forgive you.
[ Summer and phyllis laugh ]
Summer: Okay. Make a wish.
Nick: I think you're only supposed to do that for, like, your birthday.
Summer: Well, I'm making an exception, because no one deserves to have a wish come true more than you right now. Go on. Yay!
[ Summer and phyllis clap ]
Victoria: I'm not sure what you want me to tell you about J.T.
Brittany: It just sounded like you were so sure he was never coming back.
Victoria: All I'm saying is that I'm not sure that the police will ever find him.
Brittany: I get the feeling you're hoping they don'T.
Victoria: I think it could cause more problems.
Brittany: For who?
Victoria: For reed. For my father. Dad would have to face J.T. In court. He would have to testify against his grandson's father.
Brittany: Well, maybe I could help.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] How?
Brittany: Well, if J.T. Wanted to turn himself in, I would be willing to represent him.
Victoria: Are you implying that I know where J.T. Is, and that I'm protecting him?
Brittany: I'd understand if you were.
Victoria: After all of the pain that he's caused and all of the damage he's done, the last thing in the world that I would do is help him.
Brittany: So you want to see him brought to justice.
Victoria: No. I am just saying that J.T. Staying gone is probably best for everyone.
[ Music plays ]
[ Cellphone chimes ]
Sharon: Lizzie, could you watch the place for me? I have to go.
Sharon: Hey.
Nick: Hey. Sorry to, uh, take you away from your work.
Sharon: Did something happen with brittany after I left?
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Nick: Yeah.
Sharon: What?
Nick: Brittany's convinced my dad is gonna try and play dirty in order to get permanent custody of christian.
Sharon: We knew that.
Nick: She thinks he's gonna try and use my relationship with you to convince the arbitrator that christian would be better off with my dad.
Sharon: [ Sighs ] I've been saying that all along. I'm the reason why christian is with victor right now.
Nick: No. We're not doing that.
Sharon: Nick, I love you wanting to keep our family together. But we have to be realistic. If I were a social worker, I would have doubts about handing a child over to me, too.
Nick: And you would hand one over to my dad?
Sharon: Victor has a long list of well-respected professionals who will testify for him.
Nick: And I think an arbitrator will see right through that.
Sharon: I want to believe as much as you do that this will go in your favor. But I'm afraid that that's magical thinking.
Nick: Sharon, I'm not giving up.
Sharon: And I don't want you to. But you do need to stop fighting reality. We both do. And the reality is, I have to break up with you.
Phyllis: I'm glad we ran into your dad.
Summer: Yeah. I think we helped cheer him up.
Phyllis: Me too.
Summer: Okay. Now, about working with kyle --
Phyllis: No. I am not talking to billy any more for you.
Summer: Okay, just me and kyle working together is going to be an epic failure.
Phyllis: Or just epic. You can make this experience whatever you want.
Summer: Mom --
Phyllis: Later.
Billy: Come in. Where's your mother?
Summer: She's off somewhere doing whatever it is she does.
Billy: She's the senior V.P. Of marketing at fenmore'S.
Summer: Yes. That.
Billy: What can I do for you?
Summer: I wanted to talk to you.
Billy: Well, I am very busy running a major corporation, so any questions you have, you can direct them to kyle.
Summer: Okay, well, how am i supposed to do that when kyle's not here?
Billy: He'll be back from his lunch break soon.
Summer: Well, he texted me that he's out of the office handling a personal matter with jack, so...
Billy: Well, then, you can wait for him.
Summer: You can't give me two minutes?
Billy: Did you miss the part about my being busy?
Summer: It's more than that.
Billy: Wait. What are you doing?
Summer: Now, did you assign me to work with kyle because you're afraid to work with me?
Jack: [ Sighs ]
Kyle: Aren't you gonna open it?
Jack: Inside could be the missing pages from my mother's journal. And on them, my father's name. And your grandfather'S.
Kyle: You've come this far. You want the truth, don't you?
Jack: Yeah, I do.
Kyle: Go ahead.
Jack: [ Sighs ]
Kyle: It's empty. Is this some kind of sick joke?
Jack: Oh... wait a minute. Something's kind of... jammed in the side -- oh, here.
Kyle: What is it?
Jack: A photograph.
Kyle: Is that grandma?
Jack: It is. Looks like it's from the 1950'S.
Kyle: The guy next to her -- that's not john abbott, is it?
Jack: No. But I know him.
Billy: The two things that scare me are your mother before coffee and a bad poker hand.
Summer: And, apparently, closed doors.
Billy: Oh, you haven't heard about my open-door policy?
Summer: Nobody told me about it.
Billy: Yeah, it's very good for morale.
Summer: So that's it? There's no other reason why you're being weird with me?
Billy: I'm establishing boundaries, summer. A concept you were unfamiliar with at the apartment the other night.
Summer: Oh, you clearly misunderstood what I was saying, then.
Billy: I hope so.
Summer: You do know that you're the reason why I'm working here, right?
Billy: Just like that, you cross the line.
Summer: I meant how you told me to patch things over with your mom.
Billy: Well, I never said to do it here.
Summer: What better way to do it than working together?
Billy: You know, you say you want to build this bond with your mother. Why are you so intent on working here and not fenmore's?
Summer: Jabot. Fenmore'S. Same thing.
Billy: No, it's not.
Summer: You're right. Fenmore's is just a national chain of stores, while here, the possibilities are endless.
[ Footsteps approach ]
Phyllis: Am I interrupting?
Billy: No. Uh... summer and I were just discussing her role here at jabot.
Summer: Yep. And I was just telling billy that I am determined to show him how much he needs me.
Sharon: I should have done this before the first arbitration hearing.
Nick: I wasn't gonna let you do it then, I'm not gonna let you do it now.
Sharon: What kind of mother would I be if I weren't willing to do this for christian? I have to put his well-being, his happiness ahead of my own.
Nick: What about our happiness? We deserve to be happy. Sharon, you deserve to be happy.
Sharon: Maybe we just can't be happy together.
Nick: [ Sighs ] No. I'm not buying that, okay? We're supposed to be together. I mean, call it fate, destiny, some invisible force, but I know that I cannot live without you.
Sharon: I want to be with you, too, but... it's impossible.
Nick: [ Sighs ] No. Nothing is impossible for us. Nothing. Look where we are. We're in our first home. The home we shared after we got married. The home we brought noah to after he was in the hospital all those weeks. Where cassie first came to live with us. We grieved for her here. It's where we found out faith was alive. We have been through so much. Even when we were apart, we were tied to each other. But here we are. We're together, the way it's supposed to be. And I'm not letting anyone take that away from us.
Sharon: Nick --
Nick: No. Anything is possible. And I want you to help me prove that. Marry me, sharon.
Kyle: Phillip chancellor? Katherine's husband?
Jack: One of them. Dina was close to both of them. That's dina, john, katherine, and phillip.
Kyle: You really think this means something? It could have been left behind when someone emptied out the bank vault.
Jack: Why would someone pay rent on an empty box?
Kyle: Why would someone keep a random image in a bank vault?
Jack: "Genoa city country club fall formal." Look at the date.
Kyle: September 19-- nine months before you were born.
Jack: The same time mother would have written those missing pages in her journal. You still think this is just a random photo?
Kyle: You know your mom better than I do. Do you think she would sleep with her best friend's husband?
Jack: Well, not long ago, I would have said no, but knowing what I know now... phillip chancellor could be my father.
