Episode #11426 ~ The Newmans share a tense Father's Day; Devon and Hilary celebrate their reunion; Jack makes a surprising discovery.

Jack: I'm gonna take a little break from work. I'm gonna focus on finding out who my real father is.

Neil: Dina's old diaries, her personal journals in her own handwriting.

Neil: These two appear to have been from around the time i was conceived. "And no one else in town knows I'm having an illicit, passionate, wonderful affair..." damn it!

Neil: What? What? What is it? Don't stop there. Come on. You got me on the edge of my seat!

Jack: The pages were torn out!

Devon: I want you to move into my room tonight... into our room.

Abby: If my dad has made you change your mind, if you want to walk away and avoid all of the hassle.

Faith: It's you, me, and christian.

Nick: You are turning into quite the artist.

Faith: [ Chuckles ] Aren't you gonna open it?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Sorry.

Sharon: What's it say, faith?

Faith: "To the best dad in the world, love faith and christian."

Sharon: Aww. Did you teach your little brother how to sign his name?

Faith: No, mom, I signed it for both of us, but that's christian's handprint there. See?

Nick: Come here. I love it. I always love the cards you make for me.

Faith: Where's --

Sharon: Oh, nick, do you still have that cardboard tie faith made you when she was in kindergarten?

Nick: Yeah, it's perfectly preserved, right next to the picture frame made out of popsicle sticks.

[ Laughter ]

Sharon: So, did you and peyton have a fun time at the night at the zoo trip?

Faith: Yeah, it was amazing, but I wanted to come home early so I could give dad his card. Is christian still sleeping?

Nick: Uh... christian's not here.

Victoria: Hi.

Nikki: Hi, darling. Are katie and johnny still at billy's?

Victoria: I just dropped them off a few minutes ago.

Nikki: Oh, I thought they were supposed to spend the night there.

Victoria: Well, we've had to make a few adjustments. Things are a little crowded over there now that summer's back home.

Nikki: Oh, yeah. Listen, before your father gets here, how is reed doing today?

Victoria: He called me first thing this morning. Mom, he's so disappointed that he hasn't heard from his father, and he doesn't understand why. I tried to comfort him.

Nikki: Well, of course you did.

Victoria: It's just that -- it's rough. Every time he brings up J.T., I can barely keep it together.

Nikki: All right, heads up, your father's here.

Nikki: Hi!

Victoria: Hi! Happy father's day!

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Victoria: Hi. Mwah! Christian! Hello! You're here. I guess that means nick will be joining us.

Nikki: Actually, I think it means that this day is about to become more challenging.

Victor: Oh, look at this. Ooh! That tastes good, doesn't it?

Devon: Good morning.

Hilary: [ Chuckles ] It is. You know why?

Devon: 'Cause you had sweet dreams?

Hilary: Sweet reality. Last night was wonderful.

Devon: Mm?

Hilary: Mm-hmm. Really getting to be with you, not just to...

Devon: To make a baby?

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I think last night was the first time we actually admitted to ourselves that we've been about more than the baby for a while now.

Hilary: [ Giggles ]

Devon: What? What's so funny?

Hilary: I just thought of something.

Devon: What?

Hilary: This is the first time that me and the baby...

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Hilary: ...Get to wish you a happy father's day.

Devon: Aww. Well, thank you.

Charlie: Why didn't you get any ice cream?

Lily: Because I'm still full from the father's day breakfast you and your sister made.

Cane: Yeah. You guys outdid yourselves this year.

Lily: Yeah, and you still had mocha fudge on top of it.

Cane: Well...

Mattie: Well, it is his day.

Cane: I know. It was a perfect day, and i couldn't have asked for more, but more I got.

Mattie: Did you really think you could escape our inspired offerings?

Cane: Hmm...

Charlie: Well, you got to have something to add to the joke t-shirts and the ear-hair trimmers.

[ Laughter]

Lily: What was your favorite?

Cane: Uh, the "dad bod" pillow because the moment I saw it, I couldn't get to the gym fast enough. "Aww!"

Lily: Oh, honey.

[ Laughs ]

Mattie: It's too bad sam's sleeping through all of this. It'll be an important rite of passage for him.

Charlie: He'll have to carry on the tradition.

Cane: Yeah. But seriously, I loved all the breakfasts, the joke gifts, the cards, and the hugs. I particularly liked the hugs.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Cane: I'm the luckiest dad in the world.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Kyle: Hey. I've been calling you all morning.

Jack: Yeah, I know.

Kyle: Happy father's day, dad.

Jack: [ Laughs ]

Jack: What, so I'm not allowed in now?

Kyle: You've been blowing me off all day, so you tell me. Which part am I not supposed to take personally? You ignoring my calls or laughing in my face? And you're still amused.

Jack: I'm -- it just struck me that you, my son, bailed on me when I left jabot...

Kyle: But that was --

Jack: ...And here I am, for the first time in a lifetime of celebrating this particular occasion, in the dark about who my biological father is, and you stand there with a smile wishing me "happy father's day." Yes, that is a really strong 8 in the laugh-o-meter.

Kyle: Okay, I get that. Then you could say my mission's accomplished. I made you laugh and smile in the span of one conversation. You might say I put the "happy" in "happy father's day."

Jack: Yeah, I might say that.

Kyle: Come on.

Jack: Maybe we should just keep it out here.

Kyle: Will you get inside and let me pour you a cup of coffee?

Jack: That depends.

Kyle: On?

Jack: Is ashley here? I'm not sure I want to...

Kyle: She went into the office early to catch up when it's quiet, which is why I need to get back inside. I'm in charge of dina.

Jack: Wait, what happened to her nurse?

Kyle: Not scheduled for another couple of hours. Well... how's it going, dina?

Dina: Um, I have a surprise.

Kyle: You do? What is it?

Dina: Yes. Uh, do you know when my daddy's coming back?

Kyle: I'm not sure. We were talking about father's day earlier, weren't we?

Dina: Mm-hmm. I have a card for my daddy. Would you like to see it?

Jack: If you want to show it to us, yes.

Dina: Can you tell it's a baseball?

Jack: Right away.

Dina: Oh, good. My daddy loves baseball. Do you think he'll like it?

Jack: He'll love it.

Dina: I knew he would. Well, if you'll excuse me, I -- I have to get ready for church.

Jack: "I miss you, daddy. I wish you still lived with us, even if you left because of me. But I hope you're not still mad. I promise to be good if you come back. Please come back. Please. Please, daddy? So it can be a happy father's day.

Kyle: Her father left them?

Jack: I had no idea.

Sharon: There was a hearing, and the judge decided that your granddad should have temporary custody of christian.

Faith: What does that mean?

Sharon: It means that christian is living with him and your grandma.

Nick: For now.

Faith: But why would grandpa want to do that? And why would that judge let him?

Nick: Um... do you remember when I told you that, uh, cassie wasn't my daughter the way that you are?

Faith: Not your blood daughter, but a daughter of your heart.

Nick: That's right. Well, it turns out that christian is actually your uncle adam's son.

Faith: Uncle adam's? Not yours?

Nick: According to science, but in every other way that matters -- loving him, taking care of him, me needing him the way I need my other kids -- he's all mine.

Sharon: But because of the blood tests, the science, your grandpa thinks that christian would be better off being raised by him for the time being.

Faith: Well, then grandpa's wrong. Christian belongs here with you, with us!

Victoria: So, is nick not feeling well?

Nikki: Well, I'm sure your brother has had better days.

Abby: Happy father's day, dad. Mwah!

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Abby: You don't mind that i brought arturo along, do you? Nikki, victoria, how are you?

Nikki: Fine.

Abby: Fine.

Abby: Me, too, and I am starving.

Hilary: Hey. Is everything okay?

Shauna: Just called my dad since, you know, father's day.

Hilary: Well, I'm sure he was happy to hear from you.

Shauna: Yeah, he was, i guess, but he's kind of busy, so we kept it short.

Devon: Mm. How does he feel about your new living arrangement?

Shauna: Well, he and my mom are so focused on my brother right now, we didn't really get into it. I mean, he's glad I'm safe and everything, but we just didn't really see a point in talking about it.

Hilary: Because he knows he doesn't have to worry about you?

Shauna: Yeah. That's it. So, looks I lost a roommate.

Hilary: Uh, yeah, I, um, slept in devon's room last night.

Shauna: I know. You're welcome.

Devon: Are you taking credit?

Shauna: Well, yeah, I'm the one who set up that whole romantic dinner and got the wheels in motion.

Devon: Okay.

Shauna: Are you trying to say you didn't like it?

Hilary: Oh, no, we... we liked it.

Devon: We liked it a lot. We did. [ Chuckles ]

Shauna: So... permanent arrangement?

Devon: I'd be fine with that. Are you hungry?

Hilary: Um, yeah, maybe something light.

Devon: Something light? Okay. Coming right up.

Hilary: Okay.

Shauna: I'm so happy for you.

Hilary: Thank you. Me, too. And thank you for that dinner. It couldn't have gone more perfect.

Shauna: Hey, I'm glad it worked.

Hilary: If it wasn't for you, I'd probably be spending the rest of the summer sleeping in that guest room.

Shauna: Yeah. Right?

Hilary: Well, you know, what I meant to say was that, devon and I, we care for each other deeply, and we're ready to make a sound and lasting commitment to each other, so...

Shauna: Yeah, that's what most of the big movie stars do after they get pregnant. They get committed, then they move in together, and then after she drops the baby weight, they have a huge wedding with the baby all dressed up and part of the whole thing. Hey, if you wait long enough, your kid could even walk you down the aisle.

Hilary: As well as that may work for some people, I want you to know that I am not advising or suggesting...

Shauna: [ Laughs ]

Hilary: What?

Shauna: You. Trying to be a good role model.

Hilary: And what is wrong with that?

Shauna: Nothing, except you've already got it nailed. You don't need to try so hard. Or be phony about it.

Hilary: Okay, but if you get the sudden urge to get pregnant and bypass college, I don'T...

Shauna: It will never happen. I'm just messing with you. So, how does it feel, now that you and devon threw out the whole stupid "arrangement?"

Hilary: It feels great. It just feels right.

Shauna: Well, it's about time. Just looking at you two, anybody can tell that you guys belong together.

Hilary: Yeah, well, maybe not everyone.

Neil: Okay. What do we have here?

Charlie: We are upping your game.

Neil: But I -- I already have a briefcase.

Mattie: Yeah, but it's vintage. It's past time you stop lugging that thing around.

Neil: I wasn't aware that you disapproved.

Mattie: No, we don't, but it'll make a statement when you walk into meetings with that.

Neil: Really? It will, huh? What will it be saying?

Cane: Uh, that you're cool.

Lily: And you're stylish.

Neil: And diluted, more like it.

Mattie: You're always classy, grandpa.

Charlie: Yeah, but now you'll be classy and a part of the 21st century.

Neil: Yeah. Okay, well, thank you very much for keeping me current. It's a wonderful gift.

Lily: You're very welcome.

Neil: What about you? What'd you get for father's day?

Cane: Well, apart from a world-class breakfast amongst other things, I got...

Neil: Whoa! Yeah! Are you going to, uh, impress your clients with those?

Cane: Absolutely, I'm gonna wear these puppies with pride.

[ Laughter ]

Charlie: Hey, um... did I see food in your kitchen?

Lily: You're hungry again, already?

Cane: Ooh, now that you mention it...

Lily: Really?

Cane: What? I mean, it is my day.

Lily: Oh, my god. Go, go. [ Chuckles ]

Cane: Come on.

Lily: So...

Neil: Yeah?

Lily: Are you ready for another present?

Neil: Wait a minute. There's more?

Lily: It's something small. It's just a little housewarming gift.

Neil: Okay.

[ Laughs ]

Lily: It's in case hilary wants to borrow some sugar.

[ Laughs ]

Neil: You are aware that hilary and devon are gonna be joining us, right?

Lily: I know, I know, and i will be gracious and inclusive. I won't do anything to ruin your father's day.

Nick: Well, you want some lunch, kiddo? I can, uh, hook you up with a pb&J.

Faith: You can't do that. It's our day to take care of you.

Sharon: Okay, well, I'll make the sandwiches, then. But, before I do that, do you want to give your dad the other gift?

Faith: Sure.

[ Sighs ] I bought this as my school fair.

Nick: You already got me something.

Faith: This one's from christian.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] It's really great.

Faith: Even though christian isn't here, he'd want you to have that because you're his dad.

Sharon: Faith...

Faith: I don't care what anyone else says. Why would that judge think it's better for christian to be with grandpa?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Listen. I know you're upset. Your mom and I are, too. But we know this isn't gonna last for long. So we're gonna focus on the good things.

Faith: Like what?

Nick: Well, uh, it was cool talking to noah earlier, right?

Faith: In mumbai.

Nick: [ Chuckles ]

[ Cellphone chimes ] It's summer.

Sharon: Hey! That's something you can get excited about. Your sister will be by to visit soon.

Faith: Did she say when?

Nick: Oh, uh, I guess, uh, she got held up. She's not gonna be able to make it. She's stuck with her friends, so she wanted to text me "happy father's day." You know what, you were right. This is my day, and we're gonna do something about it.

Faith: What?

Nick: Well, why don't you take your bag upstairs, and then you're gonna find out.

Faith: Mom, too?

Nick: Yeah, mom, too!

Sharon: Where are we going?

Abby: Sorry, sis, I forgot to introduce you. This is ar--

Victoria: Arturo and I have met.

Arturo: It's nice to see you again.

Victoria: I didn't realize that you and arturo were dating.

Abby: Well, we were, and then we weren't, thanks to some unwanted meddling. And now we are again.

Nikki: Gee, it's funny how some people can ignore good advice.

Victor: I don't think it's funny. I think it's foolish. I don't remember sending you a plus-one invitation. And shouldn't you be spending this day with your own father, arturo?

Arturo: My father doesn't live in genoa city.

Victor: Ah.

Abby: And I wanted arturo to get to know you better.

Arturo: I actually have a few things I'd like to speak to you about, mr. Newman.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

Abby: Victoria, nikki, should we let these two talk?

Nikki: I don't know if now is really...

Victoria: Come on, mom. Let'S.

Nikki: All right. We'll just be a few minutes.

Victor: All right. It's just you and me now.

Jack: It is disconcerting to see mother altered to this extent. How long has this been happening?

Kyle: This is the first time I've seen her regress all the way back to childhood. I've never heard her talk about her father before. What do you know about him?

Jack: Nothing. All I remember her telling me is that they weren't close.

Kyle: When dina and I were talking about father's day earlier, she seemed okay.

Jack: Was she in the present?

Kyle: She was very animated about it. About the importance of the day. Nothing like this.

Jack: Despite all the trauma that dina and john endured in that part of their marriage, i now know, one thing stuck with me as a kid, and I think ashley and traci would attest to this. Mother always made a huge deal out of father's day for john, went out of her way to tell us how lucky we were to have him as a father.

Kyle: If it's true her dad walked out on her...

Jack: That would explain why it's such an important day to her.

Kyle: Could explain a lot of things. Look, I don't mean to get all shrink-y on you, but who could miss the causes and effects?

Jack: Yeah, it's kind of hard to ignore, isn't it?

Kyle: Right? I mean, her father walked on their family, she walked out on hers, and spent all that time looking for something more with different men.

Jack: Men like my biological father. That's actually why I stopped by. I wanted to talk to her about him. Now it seems all I'm gonna go away with is more proof that she's slipping away. And all of my past slipping away with her.

Kyle: Not all of it.

Jack: You don't have to remind me that I hit the jackpot being raised by john abbott.

Kyle: Yeah, john was a great guy, but there's nothing wrong with you wanting to know the real identity of your bio dad. I'm sure as hell glad I know who mine is.

Jack: You mean that?

Kyle: Eh, most of the time. I'm still trying to work stuff out -- how I came into this world, the fact that you didn't choose to be my father. But getting to know you better, it's been pretty good.

Jack: Well, you sure picked a rotten time. My life's at loose ends, don't have a job...

Kyle: Doesn't change who you are at your core, though.

Jack: Who am I, at my core? I mean, how do you see me? Who am I?

Kyle: Someone who cares deeply about your family. Aside from when you're on the attack with victor, which is kind of your kryptonite, you're strong, without feeling the need to prove it. Look, you're forgiving, even when it costs you. And every time you face adversity, somehow you've managed to come out on the other side with your sense of humor and all of that hair intact.

Jack: Bodes well for you.

Kyle: Here's to hoping. What I'm trying to say is -- as a kid, I assumed my dad was a good guy. Now, as an adult, I know that's true. You're not a perfect man. But you're a good one. And despite every insult I've ever hurled your way, and probably will again, hey, know this -- look at me. You're a good father. I'm proud to be your son.

Jack: Thanks.

Arturo: Mr. Newman, your daughter is a wonderful woman, and I really like and admire abby so much. I want to get to know her better. But some interesting things started happening as soon as we began seeing each other.

Victor: Mm.

Arturo: Yeah. Like, I have not gotten a ticket in five years. Suddenly, I'm getting cited every day.

Victor: Hmm.

Arturo: Inspectors are holding up my work, contracts got canceled.

Victor: Maybe that should tell you something.

Arturo: Oh, I got the message. You're a rich man with a lot of connections, and you can make my life difficult -- very difficult. You're a man who protects his family, and I respect that. It's something we have in common.

Victor: So you want to discuss what we have in common?

Arturo: What's past is done. In the here and now, I'm getting this said so there's no doubt. Abby does not need protection from me, and I'm not going anywhere.

Victor: If you hurt my daughter in any way, you will find out just how powerful and ruthless an enemy I can be.

Victoria: Is everything okay?

Abby: How was your talk?

Arturo: I think we reached an agreement. I'll talk to you about it later. I'll let you and your family enjoy this time with your dad. I'm gonna get going.

Abby: Okay.

Arturo: Yeah. See you guys.

Victor: You know I've always taken great pride and joy in being a father. That has never been more true than this year.

Nick: Hey, buddy. Hi.

Christian: Daddy.

Nick: Oh!

Devon: Happy father's day, man.

Neil: You, too.

Devon: Here you go.

Neil: Whoa. What is this? Thank you.

Devon: [ Chuckles ] It's all for you. Charlie, mattie...

Cane: It's the first time we've let them pull out their phones since breakfast, so they're kind of going through withdrawal.

Devon: Ah, gotcha.

Hilary: Where's lily?

Cane: Hey.

Lily: Oh, hey! I was just checking on sam. He's napping. Happy father's day, dad-to-be.

Devon: Oh, thank you. That's very sweet of you. Every time I hear those words, it makes me excited to think about this time next year, when our baby will be a part of all this.

Hilary: I'm looking forward to that, too.

Devon: And since we're on the subject, let me tell you guys since you'll find out anyway that hilary and I won't just be co-parenting this child. We are back together. As a couple.

Neil: Well, all right. It'll make things easier moving forward.

Devon: We couldn't be happier.

Hilary: I think that your family needs a little time to adjust to the idea. I don't want to make things uncomfortable, so I will leave.

Devon: You can't leave. You're not gonna go anywhere. We're either welcome here together, or we're not.

Neil: Hey. You are welcome here. I want you to stay, all right? If you're working things out, that's good news.

Cane: I agree.

Hilary: Wow. I'm shocked. Aren't you the one that locked me in a room so I couldn't get pregnant with devon's child?

Cane: And look how that worked out.

Lily: Listen, all that matters is that my brother is happy.

Devon: You mean that?

Lily: I do, and really hope it works out this time. And that you guys find as much joy and contentment as we've found.

Mattie: Did I hear you say you're back together?

Devon: Yes, we are.

Mattie: Wow.

Lily: Would you like a drink?

Devon: Yeah, I'll take some coffee.

Lily: Okay. Hilary?

Hilary: Uh, herbal tea, if neil has some.

Neil: Yeah, I think I do.

Lily: I can find it. Don't worry about it. Dad, cane -- refill?

Cane: I'll come help.

Hilary: Yeah. Me, too.

Neil: [ Clears throat ]

Devon: So, how do you really feel about all this?

Neil: [ Chuckles ] I'm blessed, man.

Devon: You're blessed. Even after everything hilary's done to this family?

Neil: Let me tell you something, young man. I have made my share of mistakes, so who am I to judge? Look at everything I got. I got you, I got lily, moses, my grandkids. Another one on the way. I couldn't ask for a better father's day.

Victoria: I was starting to think you weren't gonna make it.

Abby: What held you up?

Victor: Nicholas is not staying. Of course, faith is welcome to.

Nick: No, we're all staying.

Victor: You don't think that'll be confusing to the boy?

Nick: Are you really gonna try and keep me away from my son today?

Victor: Your son?

Victoria: What is he talking about?

Nick: Dad took christian from us.

Jack: Well, since I'm not likely to get any helpful information out of dina today, I'm gonna take off.

Kyle: Well, dad, uh, I've been struggling all week about what to get you for father's day, and aside from that dumb e-card I sent you, I've come up with exactly nothing.

Jack: No problem. Take it off your mind.

Kyle: Which what I'm saying is I think I finally figured out something I can get you that you can use, something I don't have to order or wrap up. I want to help you find your dad.

Jack: I appreciate the offer.

Kyle: Then accept it. Let me help.

Jack: This could be a pretty long search.

Kyle: I've got time.

Jack: Time you should be spending living your life, building your career, losing your swimsuit on national television.

Kyle: Ah, the truth comes out. You hated it.

Jack: I would never have okayed it in my tenure as C.E.O.

Kyle: Yeah, billy wasn't much of a fan, either.

Jack: Eh, it worked. You went viral.

Kyle: Not the way I would have wanted to.

Jack: Still in awe. It moved a lot of product, that stunt.

Kyle: I know how to make things happen. Which is what would make me a great partner for you in this.

Jack: I don't know.

Kyle: Look, I let you down by staying at jabot when you wanted to start a new company. Let me help make up for it by helping you find out who your dad is. With any luck, he'll be as good of a father as mine is.

Nick: Then dad used the information that christian is adam's biological son to temporarily gain custody of him.

Victoria: You let him get away with this?

Victor: I did what needed to be done.

Abby: How could you think this was a good idea?

Victor: It is not the outcome that I wanted. Your brother left me no choice.

Sharon: Because he dared to stand up to you and he wouldn't give you control of his son's life.

Victor: Adam's son. And I'm stunned that nicholas has spent so much time with you after all that you have done, all that you have cost him.

Nick: Don't talk to her like that.

Nikki: All right, come on, victor, that's enough.

Abby: You're making things worse.

Victor: I will not have you question my devotion to family. Not today.

Nick: Oh, that's right, let's not forget why we're celebrating, so... to the precious gift of fatherhood -- the boundless, unconditional love a man feels for his children. And to victor newman, a parent in name only who doesn't give a damn about any of that. Happy father's day.

Shauna: You're taking it slow.

Charlie: I mean, do you want me to...

Sharon: No. No. I like this. The way you respect me and take care of me. It just makes me like you even more.

Lily: And so busted.

Charlie: Hi, mom.

Lily: Hi.

Shauna: We didn't even heard you come in. You're like stealth mom.

Lily: Yep, that's me. Always keeping an eye out. That's what good parents do, right? We keep an eye out, make sure that you're making good decisions.

Shauna: Cool.

Charlie: It's not cool. It's annoying.

Lily: Get used to it.

Jack: So?

Kyle: Looking at this journal, reading what dina wrote before and after... I think you're right. Missing pages probably do contain information about who your dad is.

Jack: I just keep wondering if she held onto those pages.

Kyle: How can we find them if she did? They could be here or in storage...

Jack: Inside some wall in her place in paris...

Kyle: I've seen dina with a box she keeps her private stuff in. She hides it whenever I walk in the room.

Jack: The round box.

Kyle: Mm.

Jack: I've seen that, too. Have you ever gotten a look inside?

Kyle: Never thought it was important enough.

Jack: How do you feel about keeping your grandmother busy while I search her room?

Kyle: I'm not crazy about going behind dina's back.

Jack: This isn't how I want to do it, either, but when she was lucid, she wanted me to know the truth. She said she wanted to help me in any way she could. This may be the only way she can.

Lily: Okay, it's time.

Neil: For what?

Shauna: For...?

Mattie: Speeches! Something about our dad and why we're grateful for him.

Shauna: Really?

Devon: Well, I appreciate neil for being so kind, fair, and accepting, and for always being the voice of reason, even when I don't want to hear it.

Lily: Um, I am grateful for the way my dad lives his life, for the example you set, the way you give back, and how you lift others up who are going through what you've been through. You're an amazing mentor, guide, and friend. I love you.

Neil: I love you, too, sweetheart.

Mattie: What's great about my dad is that he always takes the time to ask about my day, and it's not just some generic "how's it going?" He'll remember tests I'm stressing over or a project I'm about to present. It's all the small things he does that make him so special.

Cane: Aww. I love you, baby.

Mattie: Love you, too.

Charlie: Uh, I want to thank my dad for working hard to keep this family together and never giving up on us. And for being willing to step in and help someone out he barely knows just because it's the right thing to do.

Devon: Hey. Hear, hear.

Neil: I think we should toast -- cheers!

Lily: Happy father's day.

Cane: Cheers.

Neil: Happy father's day.

Mattie: Happy father's day.

Devon: Happy father's day.

Dina: What are you doing with that? Those are my private things.

Jack: I-I'm sorry, I didn't know it was yours. The only reason I opened it was to find out who it belonged to. You must have left it out.

Dina: I don't believe you.

Kyle: I thought you were still upstairs.

Jack: I thought it would be less suspicious if dina found me down here instead of upstairs. Think about it -- it's one thing for her to see me in her room and think I'm john abbott. It's another when she thinks I'm a total stranger. I didn't want to upset her.

Kyle: Looks like we did that anyway, so I hope it paid off. Did you find the pages?

Jack: No. But I did find this. Whatever this opens, I hope it brings me closer to finding out who my father is.

Sharon: Are we getting our own table?

Faith: Can we go?

Nick: Yeah, let's go someplace fun. Come here, man. [ Grunts ] Daddy loves you so much. I really loved seeing you today. Don't worry, we're gonna be together again soon. Next year, we're gonna have a real father's day.

Victor: Don't you promise him things you can't guarantee.

Nick: Oh, don't worry. I can and I will.
