Episode #11409 ~ Sharon's plan backfires, Abby takes on a new project with Arturo, and Billy is in the driver's seat.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...Arturo: You just seem like the sort of beautiful, smart woman that a guy just dreams about meeting.
Nikki: I thought I made it clear when I spotted the two of you at the club that I don't approve of you seeing her. It's just a little too close to home.
Nick: I can't keep chasing your dreams. I got to start chasing some of my own.
Victor: I want you to come back to newman enterprises.
Ashley: The blood-abbott clause means jack can no longer serve as C.E.O., Which is why I nominate, as new and permanent C.E.O. Of jabot cosmetics, billy abbott.
Gloria: And what is this, pray tell? A window from jack's office into reception?
Billy: My office. But yes, a window into the world of jabot, both functional and symbolic.
Gloria: Huh.
Billy: Part of my open-door policy, a new vision for jabot. And we might even make this entire wall glass, right?
Arturo: Yeah, well, that's my vote. But we'd have to repeat the look in other places for it to be consistent. The remodel needs to be seamless.
Gloria: [ Scoffs ] How wonderfully transparent. And a little bit invasive. You watch us. We watch you. Like fish in an aquarium in a business suit.
Billy: It's a visual reminder, gloria, that we're all on the same team no matter what, and that includes the C.E.O., Who should be visible and accessible. Every opinion counts here, okay?
Gloria: Okay.
Billy: Now let's think about this for a second, the way that my father ran this business. You knew just as well as anybody else, he didn't wall himself off. He didn't push away the world. I think he would love this idea.
Gloria: I think john would be deeply alarmed by some of the changes.
Billy: And he would want us to stand tall and stay strong. Would you not agree?
Arturo: You asked me for some more contemporary designs. Some of that is in the architecture, but most of it is in the finishes and fixtures.
Billy: I agree 100%, and I love what you're showing me here.
Gloria: So you'll be a fixture here, as well? I imagine this work could take quite a while. Maybe we should set you up with an office. Or you can just park it right here next to me.
Billy: What time line are we looking at here?
Arturo: Uh, we're gonna be doing most of the work on the weekends so we don't interfere with regular business hours.
Billy: Which is gonna take a little bit longer, though?
Arturo: Well, I'll have double the crew working round the clock, and we'll get about a week's worth of work done in half the time.
Billy: That's great.
Gloria: It does sound creative. Maybe you do have some solid ideas.
Billy: Quick, write that down for my tombstone.
Gloria: Hey. I admit some concerns. The past few months have been hell around here. Kyle. Firing me. Jack. And you got to know that jack and I have our own roller coaster of emotions, so I am not interested in listening to gossip.
Billy: No, never. Not you. It's cheap and insulting, and way below you. Trust me, I already told arturo you're one of the finest minds that we have here at jabot.
Gloria: [ Scoffs ]
Arturo: It's true. It's true. He did. And clearly he was right.
Gloria: All right. I admit, some of billy's ideas have appealed to me. In the blink of an eye, when the public hears the name jabot, they will think of billy abbott. Not jack.
Jack: Excuse me?
Nick: [ Sighs, groans ]
Sharon: How long have you been up?
Nick: Couple hours.
Sharon: You couldn't sleep?
Nick: Yeah. You want to guess why?
Sharon: If your dad asking you to go back to newman enterprises is keeping you up at night, then maybe it's a sign that you're not comfortable with the idea.
Nick: Yeah, I've been putting together this little, uh, pro-and-con list.
Sharon: Want to know what I think?
Nick: That is actually at the top of the "con" column.
Sharon: Well, I'll support you no matter what. You know that, right?
Nick: And that is actually at the top of the "pro" column.
Sharon: I just don't understand this pull you feel for newman enterprises, not after how hard you worked to separate yourself from victor and maintain your own identity. And going back...
Nick: I know. I know. It feels like a move in the wrong direction. I mean, I have been the guy, the last few years, who doesn't want anything to do with his dad or newman.
Sharon: And now?
Nick: Now [Sighs] I'm seriously considering going back. To all of it.
Jack: Blueprints. What exactly are you planning?
Billy: Just a little refresh on the C.E.O. Office. Arturo is supervising.
Kyle: Is this a new thing? Meeting in the reception?
Jack: Billy's doing a remodel of jabot.
Billy: A refresh.
Gloria: Nothing too extreme.
Jack: Even though ashley insists that his tenure at the top is temporary, apparently your uncle has big plans. And they include fabric swatches and paint chips more than any actual business.
Billy: Well, ashley's right. I'm only here for as long as I'm needed. But while I'm here, I'm gonna move this company forward. Arturo's gonna help me make the C.E.O. Office more accessible to the staff. And since we're here, why don't we take this conversation inside?
Gloria: Anybody care for coffee?
Billy: That'd be great. Thank you, gloria.
Jack: Yes, thank you, gloria.
Gloria: Change is painful. But we've been through this before. We're tough, and we will get through this. And in case you hadn't noticed in the last year, I am and always will be team jack.
Kyle: You're not alone. We're in this together, dad.
Jack: [ Sighs ] Yeah.
Sharon: I know I said that i would support you either way, but honestly...
Nick: [ Sighs ] You hate the idea.
Sharon: I understand how frightening it was for you when victor was in the hospital. But he's perfectly fine now. Well, he's going to be. And he's still victor. He's manipulating, controlling, judgmental. And you've worked so hard to set up boundaries. You -- you gave away your trust fund!
Nick: Yeah, I gave that money away, that I never earned, to a foundation that I knew would do some good with it.
Sharon: Yes. Exactly. Because that's who you are. You like helping people. You like protecting them. I mean, look at new hope. You're so invested in making people's lives better, and it's given you real drive and focus. Without all the stress. Why isn't that enough now?

Billy: This right here, what's this?
Arturo: The architect consulted the old prints and said this was a pony wall before a previous renovation. He wants to go back to that so we can honor the past while we update for the present.
[ Knock on door ]
Billy: Jack. Uh, you want to take a look at this?
Jack: If you don't mind, sure. So, arturo, taking a little time off from new hope to help billy twist the knife in my back?
Billy: It's a brother thing.
Arturo: Yeah. Yeah, I have a brother, too. Starts when you're kids, and it never really stops, does it? Nikki invited me to the new hope fundraiser tonight. Will I see you there?
Jack: Oh, wouldn't miss it.
Arturo: Business attire. No hard hat, huh?
Billy: [ Chuckles ]
Arturo: I'm not really a suit guy.
Jack: I can help you out there. Let's see. Yeah. Here. These are the people who always take care of me. They'll take great care of you. Just use my name.
Arturo: "Bespoke"?
Jack: Bespoke, yeah. They have plenty of great off-the-rack stuff, too. Look, nikki is hosting this thing. You want to look sharp. I promise it'll pay off.
Arturo: Looks like I'm going shopping. I'll leave the prints with you. If you need to make any changes...
Billy: I'll be in touch. Thanks, man.
Billy: So, you sure about tonight? I was planning on taking your place.
Jack: Oh, I'm definitely going, since the invitation was to me as a board member of new hope, not as C.E.O. Of jabot. Or am I not allowed to attend a dinner as myself?
Nick: And that right there is a biggie.
Sharon: Victor almost dying in the "pro" column?
Nick: Not that I think what J.T. Did to my dad is a plus, but it changed things for me. It was a wake-up call. This push-pull thing that I got going with my dad, it has to stop. Where I keep my distance and just treat him like he's just some other guy. He's my dad. I don't want my kids to look at me the way I looked at him.
Sharon: They never would, because you're not victor.
Nick: [ Sighs ] Noah is halfway around the world. Summer, I don't even know where she is most of the time.
Sharon: Christian and faith are here.
Nick: You know, faith is gonna be a teenager in a heartbeat.
Sharon: I know. I hate it. I know.
Nick: When my dad [Sighs] Went into that coma -- you know, I'm not a kid anymore. I got to step up.
Sharon: You have stepped up. You have accomplished so much.
Nick: It's not enough.
Sharon: For who?
Nick: Yeah, I made new hope happen. But you know how I can make more things like that happen? With more money, more access.
Sharon: Nikki could provide funding.
Nick: Well, it's not just new hope. It's newman, too. Who is gonna protect this company when my dad is gone? Who's gonna protect the family? Someone has to be there for all the people that have depended on my father.
Sharon: Why does it have to be you?
Nick: Because I'm not just gonna let this family or this company fade away when my dad is gone. It's taken a hell of a lot for my father to build what he has, and it's gonna take a hell of a lot more to keep it standing.
Arturo: Perfect timing. I need advice.
Abby: Use the jigsaw and not the nail gun?
Arturo: You do know that that doesn't make any sense at all, right?
Abby: Well, everything I know about construction, I learned from home shows.
Arturo: Okay. So, I'm assuming you know about your stepmother's fundraiser tonight?
Abby: Of course. Nikki is a pro at getting people to hand over their wallets.
Arturo: Okay, this whole business-attire thing?
Abby: Ooh, yeah. Steel-toed boots optional.
Arturo: Jack said that they could get me a suit. The last time I wore one was for my sister's quinceañera.
Abby: [ Chuckles ]
Arturo: I have no idea what I'm looking for. I need you to help me so I don't waste my time.
Abby: Oh, I can do better than that. In fact, I insist.
Jack: Don't bother getting up, gloria. Just tell me what office my things are in.
Gloria: We didn't know when you'd be back, jack. We had to make room for kyle.
Kyle: What's going on?
Gloria: Just a minor logistical issue.
Jack: Help me understand. My things are not in an office. Then, what? They're in a storage bin, a broom closet, a cardboard box?
Billy: Come on, jack.
Jack: Was this the plan all along? Death by a thousand little cuts? Humiliate me to the point I'll walk out of jabot?
Phyllis: That would never happen.
Billy: It's a temporary situation. Gloria just said it's logistical. For now, you and kyle can share an office.
Jack: I can share an office?
Kyle: Come on. Let's go take a walk, grab a coffee.
Gloria: That really was too much.
Billy: I was here, gloria. I heard it.
Gloria: Then maybe the new C.E.O. Can come up with a brilliant solution. And quickly. Excuse me.
Billy: [ Sighs ]
Phyllis: Well, that was not the best start to our day, was it?
Billy: What do you want me to do? Fire somebody to give him an office? I didn't know he'd be back so early.
Phyllis: Well, he is. He is back.
Billy: Yeah, as if nothing happened. This denial act of his.
Phyllis: He's in pain.
Billy: I know.
Phyllis: Do you?
Billy: Yes. I do. I'm in the office that he called his. His title, his chair, his assistant, his... biological father that he used to call his.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Billy: As much as I don't want any of that to change anything between us, I'm afraid it already has.
Sharon: I think it's wonderful that you want to take over as family protector. I'm not sure who you think needs protecting. You have two very strong, capable sisters.
Nick: Look at this attack on my dad. Look at what J.T. Did to my sister. I'm not just talking about my generation. I'm talking about the kids, the grandkids, the family as a whole.
Sharon: Kids and grandkids, we can also assume, will grow up to be strong, capable adults. I appreciate your concern, but your attitude feels like it's coming from another century. The noble patriarch.
Nick: I disagree. From strong families come strong individuals.
Sharon: Or you could say that's the other way around. Let's take a look at your list again, okay? You've done so well on the pro section. Almost as if it were all you gave any thought to at all. But now let's look at the cons.
Nick: All right. Let's hear it.
Sharon: Okay. It worries me that you're already using this language -- "protector." It makes me think that you're gonna get sucked into victor's pathology again, and you're gonna end up regretting it again. Look at victoria and abby. Victoria was recently demoted in favor of ashley. And not that long ago, victor threw abby under the bus because of zack. And I'm sorry, but tell me why is noah in mumbai? Victor couldn't find someplace closer to home for him? Maybe in this hemisphere?
Nick: Yeah. Okay. So, do I get to talk now, or should I keep shutting up?
Sharon: Go ahead.
Nick: I hear what you're saying, all right, and it's all true.
Sharon: But you don't care.
Nick: I do care. I just think I'm in a better place to handle dad now.
Sharon: Look at the terms you're using. "Handle." Nobody handles victor, nick, except maybe nikki, and even then...
Nick: Look, it's different now. When my dad was in that coma, I was talking, and he was listening. I didn't know it at the time, but he was. He knows I'm on his side. He knows I'm not an enemy or an opponent.
Sharon: Specifically, how are things gonna be different this time?
Nick: Look, I can't see that far ahead. And I don't know if it's gonna be different. But I'm not just in this for me. This is for my whole family, especially christian.
Sharon: Well, christian doesn't need you locked in a battle of the wills with your father. That is not a good pattern for him to grow up around.
Nick: Okay, be fair, all right? I don't have that kind of dynamic with my kids, nor will I ever.
Sharon: I know. I'm sorry. I'm just scared.
Nick: [ Sighs ] I know you are. But look at me. I-I need a new challenge. I need something to do. I'm in my prime years of making money. And it's money that I don't want to get from a trust fund. It's money that I want to earn. I want to provide for my family and solidify their future on my terms.
Sharon: I just don't see how things are gonna be different.
Nick: Well, couldn't people say the same thing about us? But we know it's different. That's kind of how I feel about this next possible go-around with newman. This could be the one that lasts. That's going on the page.
Sharon: Um, you keep working on that. I have an errand to run.
Nick: Yeah, okay.
Jack: Thank you for getting me out of there. I felt like I had a blood vessel ready to burst.
Kyle: That's just a blip, dad.
Jack: Oh, I don't know about that.
[ Sighs ] Anyway, I owe you an apology.
Kyle: Me? Why?
Jack: For what I did to you and your career. It's bad enough I screwed myself over with this blood-abbott clause that I created. To do this to you... jabot was going to be your birthright, and I unknowingly just took it from you. Maybe you're better off with victor.
Kyle: He's not my father. You are. No matter who else I'm related to, this much I know, even if I didn't always. Look... I know what this feels like. I've been through it. That sense of not belonging. You were raised by john. You had that connection, you and the other abbotts. I was this kid on the fringe.
Jack: You're not --
Kyle: And I'm not saying that to blame you. I'm saying, I know what it feels like to be an outsider. I know this sounds awful, because I would never wish this on you, but...
[Scoffs] It makes me feel less alone. 'Cause it's you and me now.
Jack: You're right. John raised me. Having john abbott as a father made it feel like I had this protective shield, like having his blood in my veins guided me to the right answer. Well, it turns out I was acting all on my own. No wonder I screwed up as many times as I did.
Kyle: Nah. I don't buy it. I've never seen you as a screw-up. You're the same guy you were, dad. Someone to admire and emulate. Look, that hasn't changed.
Jack: And here you are, bolstering your old man. It helps. I appreciate it.
Kyle: Whatever you need, I'm ready.
Jack: You kept me from going ballistic on your uncle, and I owe you big time for that. You know, this remodeling of the office, I get the distinct feeling billy is not looking at this C.E.O. Gig as something temporary.
Kyle: Nah, he just likes things shiny and new. Till something shinier and newer comes along.
Jack: [ Chuckles ] Well, you're right about that. And with his short attention span, he's gonna get tired of that desk pretty quick.
Kyle: So you haven't given up on being C.E.O.
Jack: Given up? No. We go back there, we work hard, we wait him out.
Kyle: "We"?
Jack: You bet "we." Billy is gonna screw this thing up. He always does. When he does this time, you and I are going to step in. We'll get the board to rescind that blood-abbott clause. And when they do, we will claim what is rightfully ours. Me as C.E.O., You as my second in command.
Kyle: So, what do you say we head back to the office and get to work?
Jack: Let's go. After you, sir.
[ Kyle chuckles ]
Arturo: I can't believe you have a personal shopper. I mean, you just make a call and they bring out a rack of suits? Is that because of how much money you spend here?
Ashley: [ Chuckles ] Jabot owns 49% of fenmore'S. I might not work at jabot, but I am an abbott, so I still get all the perks.
Arturo: Huh. So this is all because of your last name, then.
Abby: And because I shop here so much.
[ Laughs ] Look, I called lauren. She gave me her best consultant. You trusted me enough to come here with you, but not enough to pick out the first suit you try on.
Arturo: I'm coming out.
Abby: Uh... seriously?
Arturo: It's a suit.
Abby: Uh... yeah, but, I mean... the -- the cuffs on the pants, the pleats, it's so, uh...
[ Laughs ] It's so old!
Arturo: It's a suit!
Abby: No, I know. And to you that means something that's boring and constricting. Something that you can't wait to rip off after you put on.
Arturo: You know, it's the cheapest one on the rack, all right? I'm not gonna waste money for something I'm gonna wear once.
Abby: It's not a waste of money, it's an investment. A good, well-fitted suit could last you for years.
Arturo: Yeah, sure, in my closet with the moths.
Abby: [ Laughs ] Okay, let me see. Um... try... try this one.
Arturo: [ Sighs ] Are you -- it says "skinny."
Abby: It's the cut. It means fitted.
Yeah, but that's for the guys with the beards and the beanies. You know, they wear the tight jeans. They got to waddle when they walk.
Abby: [ Laughs ] Someone's judgmental.
Arturo: Am I wrong?
Abby: They -- they do kind of waddle. But that was like five years ago. Things aren't the same now.
Arturo: Mm. [ Sucks teeth ]
Abby: [ Sighs ]
Arturo: [ Sighs ]
[ Chuckles ] Do I look skinny to you?
Abby: Why don't you look at yourself in the mirror a little bit more? That's always attractive. Now try the suit! Go!
Arturo: How much is it?
Abby: No. Do not look at the price until after you try it on.
Arturo: You see, that's never a good sign. You know, just so you know, whatever it is, it's still gonna be... never mind.
Abby: Thank you. Now hurry up. Strip down. Those pleats offend my eyes.
[ Laughs ]
Victoria: What's wrong? Is it...?
Sharon: No. No.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Thank god. You scared me.
Sharon: I'm sorry. But this is just as urgent.
Victoria: Well, if it's not about him, then it really isn't that urgent.
Sharon: It's about nicholas. I need you to talk him out of making a terrible mistake.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Phyllis: The glass wall is genius. It's very sophisticated and modern.
Phyllis: Like our new C.E.O.
[ Knock on door ]
Jack: I don't mean to interrupt. I just wanted to apologize for storming out of here earlier. I was a bit caught off guard by the plans, and, uh... well, I-I guess I reacted poorly.
Phyllis: I'll let you to it.
Billy: If you don't mind, uh...
Phyllis: Yep. I got it.
Billy: [ Clears throat ]
Jack: So much for your open-door policy.
Billy: There's policy and then there's privacy.
Jack: As well there should be.
Billy: Thank you for, uh, covering at the fundraiser tonight. I appreciate it.
Jack: You mean the one I was invited to because of my role at new hope?
Billy: Well, it's on the jabot calendar, and the company made a substantial donation.
Jack: No, you're absolutely right. So I will be attending in a dual capacity -- as part of new hope and as a representative from jabot. Bear with me. It may take me a while to get used to not being in charge.
Billy: It's not gonna be a problem, though, right? I mean, you always encouraged ashley to embrace being number two. Which made me, what, number three in your book?
Jack: I don't know that I ever quite looked at it that way. I think I was more focused on this room, this desk, that chair. Frankly, as things have turned out, I'm not sure what my place is right now. But I'm going to do everything I can to make everything work.
Billy: I appreciate you saying that, jack. We need you here.
Jack: Thank you. Um, by the way, gloria just texted me that she's ordering a new nameplate for me. She didn't know exactly what my title was.
Billy: Well, if ashley is chief innovation officer at newman and victor came up with that, I'm sure we can do better. Whatever you want, that's what it'll be.
Jack: As long as it's not C.E.O.
Billy: That's taken.
Victoria: Dad asked nick to come back to newman?
Sharon: Even worse, nick's actually considering it. He wants this. I can tell. So I need you to explain to nick that this is a terrible mistake.
Victoria: I can'T.
Sharon: Nick will listen to you. At least try. Together, we could pull this off.
Victoria: I don't think it's a terrible idea. I love it.
Sharon: What? No!
Victoria: Sharon, listen. I need somebody on my side. Ashley has too much authority. If nick and I are both at the company, dad will remember that consolidating the power within the family is the answer.
Sharon: How can you say that? When has nick being at newman ever worked out?
Victoria: Things change. Look at you, calling me for help.
Sharon: This is where you and I are now, for better or worse.
Victoria: Well, this is where nick and dad are, too. And with nick back at the company, I personally will feel... I don't know. ...More emotionally protected. I just have felt shaky since things with J.T. I really wouldn't mind having my brother around. And think of it this way -- with nick focused on business, he won't have as much time to -- to worry about trying to find J.T.
Sharon: This is not what I expected at all. Am I the only one looking out for nick right now? Forget about what this can do for you. Think about what this will do to nick.
Abby: Can you take any longer? I know. The suit looks good, doesn't it? And you don't want to come out here because you don't want to hear me say, "I told you so."
Arturo: You talk a lot.
Abby: [ Laughs ]
[ Cellphone rings ] Victoria. What's up?
Victoria: Abby, I need your help.
Abby: This is amazing. My help is needed twice in one day. What can I do for you?
Victoria: Dad asked nick to come back to newman, which i think is fantastic, but he's still not convinced. So I think we should meet with him together and get him to say yes.
Abby: Why would I do that?
Victoria: Because we need him at newman. It would be great for all of us.
Abby: Great for who? Because all I see is me getting kicked further down the food chain. Nick cuts ties with dad and with the company, and he gets to walk right back in, same as you? Meanwhile, I-I have sat at newman. I-I have been the ever-loyal daughter, taking insult after insult, and what do I get for it? I get to watch my dad offer one of my siblings another position that will probably outrank mine. Now, maybe if I had lost my bar or my cosmetics business, maybe dad would value me more. Oh, wait. He'd never do that.
Victoria: Abby, you know that dad respects you.
Abby: Oh, please. You don't have to do that. We both know better. Now, I'm -- I'm gonna get back to what I was doing. And if you want nick back at newman, um, you're on your own. Bye. You don't have to pretend like you didn't hear that.
Arturo: Sorry. I didn't mean to overhear.
Abby: No, it's fine. You know, I have drama on the abbott side, drama with the newmans. But, um... hey, let's -- let's see that suit. Wow. Told you so.
Arturo: Work e-mails?
Abby: I have a thing for, uh, bulldogs in top hats. But, um, it's a secret. I'm sure I can trust you to be discreet?
Arturo: Always. I pride myself on it. No one will hear about it from me.
Abby: Great. Um... so, let's talk about the suit. It's going home with you, I assume?
Arturo: Maybe.
[ Inhales sharply ] Make that a no. A grand for clothes? Not happening.
Abby: No, that you can wear for years.
Arturo: Except I won'T. I'm gonna look for something else.
Abby: Oh, come on! This one works, and it's perfect, and you look -- you look amazing in it.
Arturo: It's a waste.
Abby: It's not a waste. Okay, I get a family discount. It brings the price way down, and... well, it's always nice to have a good suit that you can schmooze in.
Arturo: "Schmooze"?
Abby: You know, get more business.
[ Both chuckle ] Let me put it on my account.
Arturo: Excuse me?
Abby: As a thank-you for driving me up to the abbott cabin.
Arturo: [ Laughs ] That was a favor. It wasn't a ride share.
Abby: You need this suit.
Arturo: No one on the planet needs a suit.
Abby: But it's a classic color and cut, and, well, I mean, you look good in it.
I look good in a lot of things.
Abby: Let me do this for you.
Arturo: I never said i couldn't afford it. I just think it's ridiculous. But since I do look so darn good in it...
Abby: You do.
Arturo: ...I will buy it myself. But I will take that family discount.
Abby: Thank you for humoring me.
Arturo: Don't get used to it.
Billy: Thank you, everyone, for coming. I know it's last-minute, so I appreciate it. I just wanted to get everybody together and give you an overview for my vision of jabot.
Phyllis: We can't wait to hear what you have in mind.
Billy: It'll be more meetings like this -- small breakout groups with various job levels across the company. Broad spectrum. This is about team building. As well as defining jabot's priorities.
Jack: Forgive me. Aren't jabot's priorities already clearly defined? Or are we talking about you perspective as a newcomer?
Billy: Yes, I bring new perspective to the office of C.E.O.
Jack: Well, whoever sits in the chair may change, but jabot's goals certainly don't -- or shouldn'T.
Billy: Consider this a new layer of creativity, jack.
Jack: I thought the plan was to keep the ship on course.
Billy: We can keep the ship on course and still broaden our horizons.
Phyllis: Your excitement is infectious. And I think that the staff will feel it and react accordingly.
Billy: There will be a transition for them. Jabot has been in flux for a while. Revolving door of this office in particular.
Gloria: And my desk on occasion.
Billy: Look, let's be honest. It's not usual to have the previous C.E.O. Still working under the new one.
Gloria: It is the new normal here.
Billy: And should be treated as such. I am confident that we can handle any awkwardness with grace.
Jack: Absolutely.
Kyle: Of course.
Billy: Good. Then grace it is.
Sharon: Well, you didn't waste any time rushing over here.
Victoria: I was afraid you'd talk him out of it.
Nick: Did you talk to my sister about this?
Victoria: Yes, she did. Dad asked you back?
Sharon: I was hoping that victoria could give you a few more items for the con section of your list since she currently works at newman and sees firsthand how victor loves to giveth and taketh away.
Victoria: But I'm not gonna do that. Because I love the idea of you coming back.
Nick: Really?
Victoria: It'll be different this time, nick. Better. You and I are stronger now. I know, in the past, we might not have always been able to handle dad. But this time we can. Together. I'm sure of it.
Abby: Nice. Treat a suit like that with respect.
Arturo: Well, because it's an investment, you know.
Abby: [ Laughs ] Well, I'm pleased that you were listening to me. You'll be going to a ton of these fundraisers, so all you're gonna have to do is change up the tie and the pocket square.
Arturo: What?
Abby: Okay. Never mind. Um... so, this next fundraiser, nikki and my uncle jack and devon, they will all be there, of course. And you're gonna want to talk to devon.
Arturo: [ Scoffs ] Why? Because he's rich? Yeah, not a big priority for me.
Abby: No, because he's a great guy, and he's one of my favorite people. And he's closer to your age than the rest of the people that will be there. And he hasn't always been rich. At all. He was decent and smart and funny. He's still all of those things, but [Laughs] Yes, he's rich. Maybe you'll make a new friend and some excellent business contacts.
Arturo: My, uh, schmoozing skills might need a little bit of updating.
Abby: [ Laughs ] All right. Well, I will be your plus-one. I'll observe, and then jump in when needed, exactly like today.
Arturo: I appreciate the offer, but this particular fundraiser --
Abby: Is the perfect place to start. I mean, it's a family thing for me. My brother started the whole thing, and my stepmother's hosting it.
Arturo: Well, I only rsvp'd for myself.
Abby: I'm sure nikki won't mind if I'm there with you.
Arturo: I just don't want to ask her for any special treatment, you know? I think it'd be best if I just go alone.
Abby: Oh. Uh, yeah. Heh. Okay. Um... then I guess you're on your own.
Jack: You got the coffees earlier. I'll get the drinks now.
Kyle: Careful. One may not do it for me.
Jack: Ah, rough day, huh?
Kyle: That's an understatement. Sitting there, sucking it up. "You're right, billy. Good choice, boss." I know you think he'll get bored, but when, and how much damage will he cause jabot with his brilliant new ideas in the meantime?
Jack: There's the rub. Only one true abbott who wants to run the company, and he's my brother. God is laughing at me right now.
Kyle: At all of us.
Jack: Getting rid of billy is gonna be tougher than i thought.
Sharon: Yes, I went to victoria about your job offer. My only regret is that it didn't turn out the way that I'd hoped. Nick, you've been trying to get away from your father for years. Just because he's asked you back now, it doesn't mean that you have to say yes, I mean, without giving it some time. Just think about it.
Victoria: Dad's offers usually have a time limit on them.
Sharon: Well, that's his problem and no one else'S.
Victoria: You would be coming back on your own terms.
Sharon: You just said there was a time limit.
Victoria: I said usually. Look, nick, it's your call. But we'd be together. I would have your back, and you would have mine.
Sharon: You guys can do that together without working at newman.
Nick: Look, I hear you. I do.
Sharon: But?
Nick: But this could be my last chance to get back into the family firm. My last chance to do something big, something that could benefit the entire family.
Sharon: Okay. Well, that's noble. But will victor feel the same way, or will he just carry on punishing and controlling like he always does?
Nick: I really think dad has changed since the coma.
Victoria: Exactly. Now is the time.
Nick: That's not to say he won't change back, though.
Sharon: Because he always does.
Victoria: Okay. Well, I have a meeting to get to, but I want to say this first -- working with you, and having someone by my side that I can count on and trust, especially right now, that means more to me than you'll ever know.
Sharon: You will always have your brother, victoria. He doesn't have to give up his principles to be there for you.
Victoria: All right. Sharon, thank you so much for your input, but this is a family matter. It's not a roommate issue.
Sharon: Oh. Uh... you don't know. Nick and I are back together, and we couldn't be happier. Victor and nikki already know.
Victoria: Uh, is that...?
Nick: Yeah. It's true.
Sharon: I'm really grateful for everything that nick and i have, especially now.
Victoria: Well, then you of all people should understand that I need my brother's support now more than ever. Family is everything. And nobody knows that better than a newman.
