Episode #11405 ~ Devon keeps a secret from Hilary; Victoria bends the truth; Jack spins out of control.

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Victoria: You can ask me about the phone and the texts and the timeline of that night but I honestly don't even know why we're discussing it.

Paul: Because I'm being lied to. But I'm not giving up, until I figure it out.

Devon: I made a commitment to Hilary.

Neil: What kind of commitment?

Devon: We're in this parenting thing together, and I'm on board for wherever this ride takes us.

Drug Dealer: I keep my clients happy.

Jack: I'm not your client. This is a one time only thing.

Drug Dealer: Don't lose my number.

Abby: I came here to load up on caffeine before I head to my family's cabin, I'm praying Uncle Jack is there.

[Thunder rolling]

[Tires squealing, crash]

Abby: Um, [chuckles] this is bad. Bad idea.

Arturo: Yeah, yeah, it is, it is.

Abby: Yeah.

Arturo: Absolutely.

Abby: Yeah I mean, my Uncle Jack could come through that door any minute.

Arturo: Yeah.

Abby: What?

Arturo: Quiet. Rain stopped and the winds died down.

Abby: Great, that will make it easier for Jack to get back here.

Paul: Victoria.

Victoria: I was just thinking about how disappointed my father will be when he hears about this confession.

Paul: Do you want to call your attorney?

Victoria: No thank you.

Paul: Are you sure? Because if you're amending your answers to my questions.

Victoria: I don't want to hide anything anymore.

Paul: Okay.

Victoria: Are you calling for back-up?

Paul: No I'm setting up the recording app on my phone.

Victoria: That won't be necessary.

Paul: Well, it could be that whatever you have to say is not important enough to have your attorney present, but I would prefer to take it for the record just in case. Are you okay with that?

Victoria: You and I have known each other a long time. So I am okay with being honest with you, but I'm not foolish enough to let you record what I'm about to say without the benefit of my counsel.

Paul: Then what are we doing here?

Victoria: It was my intention to be honest with you this time, but if you want to make things official, than we can go to the police station, and I'll have my lawyer meet us there.

Paul: All right, all I need is the truth.

Victoria: Alright. Fine. Then let's talk. You and me. Without the recording.

Paul: You know, you are putting me in a very awkward position.

Victoria: Well, those are my terms, so accept them and you'll hear everything that you want to know. Or not. It's up to you.

Arturo: Any luck?

Abby: No, he hasn't returned any of my texts. But he will. I'm sure of it.

Arturo: You know, with this break in the storm, we should probably head back before it kicks up again.

Abby: You can go if you want.

Arturo: And leave you stranded here?

Abby: I can always book a car.

Arturo: You know, if your uncle hasn't come back by now...

Abby: Well, remember when we got here, there was a fire burning in that fireplace.

Arturo: Yes, but...

Abby: My Uncle Jack wouldn't just merrily go on his way without securing the cabin.

Arturo: You're not leaving.

Abby: No, not until I find out he's okay.

Arturo: Well, then, I will keep you company for the duration.

Paul: Okay. No recording. We'll just talk.

Victoria: All right.

Paul: So, you admitted, you haven't been truthful with me.

Victoria: Somewhat, but not entirely.

Paul: So what have you lied about?

Victoria: You've asked me countless questions about the night that J.T. disappeared so why don't we start there. The truth is, I did see J.T. that night, and I did speak to him.

Abby: If Uncle Jack were just on a grocery run, he'd be back by now. Whitewater isn't that far away. I mean, maybe he's stuck on the road somewhere.

Arturo: What if he decided to wait the storm out in Whitewater? [Sighs] Look, you have any board games?

Abby: Board games. That's what you're thinking about right now?

Arturo: Yeah, I mean... the more distractions - it's better when the situation is so tense.

Abby: Well, I don't want to forget why we're here.

Arturo: It's impossible to forget. When you're worried about someone you love, I mean, you can't hide from it, you can't throw it off, but you can't let it overwhelm you, either. That's when you have to pull out the tools. Whether it's a laugh, a game, or... whatever. [Clears throat] If you don't have any board games, how about some cards?

Abby: Yeah, there's-- There's some in, um... My Uncle Jack, he's- he's been drinking a lot.

Arturo: Where do you keep the liquor?

Abby: In that cabinet. If it's gone, maybe he's been drinking, and he's out on the road driving...

Arturo: I'll look.

Abby: No, no, no, I'll do it. [Laughs] I have never been happier to see a bottle of Scotch in my life. If he were on a bender, this would all be gone, right?

Arturo: I'm curious. What would you have done had that liquor cabinet been empty?

Abby: [Sighs] Well, I would have convinced you to take me in that big old truck of yours out on the road to see if there's any sign of Jack.

Arturo: What if I would have said no?

Abby: You wouldn't do that. You're too gallant.

Arturo: Mm, way to stroke my male ego. Smart.

Abby: Surprised?

Arturo: No, that you know how to get your way?

Abby: What's that supposed to mean?

Arturo: That means you come from two of the richest and most powerful families around, I'm sure they've been teaching you how to negotiate since you were in your mothers arms.

Abby: Oh, my god. It's all starting to make sense.

Arturo: Hmm?

Abby: Offering to take me to a remote cabin, the subtle seduction. You looked me up.

Arturo: [Chuckles] And why would I do that?

Abby: [Laughs]

Arturo: At no moment in time did I ever type your name into a search engine. Not once. But, it is possible that somewhere along the way, in passing, I did hear about this little rebellious phase you had as "The Naked Heiress."

Abby: What is it with guys?

Arturo: What? I'm not going to get into that, all right? I have a sister and I know that the best way to answer that is by pretending I didn't hear it.

Abby: No.  No matter how successful I am in business, gifts I give to charity, that is what guys are always glomming onto.

Arturo: You naked on a horse?

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Arturo: I mean, it's no criticism. I mean, being rebellious, it worked for Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, right?

Abby: How much time did you spend looking me up?

Arturo: None. I hear all this "news" whether I want to or not because of my little sister. Yeah, she spends all day on the phone, soaking in any news that has to do with celebrities or reality TV stars.  She loves that stuff.

Abby: [Laughs] Why is it that guys claim that the only reason they know anything about pop culture is because their wives or their sisters are watching? I bet you are a true fan boy.

Arturo: You'd be wrong.

Abby: How many times did you look up my pictures?

Arturo: A gentlemen never tells. Would you do it again?

Abby: What, ride through the Athletic Club in my birthday suit? Not in the here and now. But I'm not embarrassed by my past.

Arturo: Well, there's absolutely nothing embarrassing about those photos. No offense.

Abby: None taken, since I agree. Do you want some coffee?

Arturo: Yeah. Yeah, that would be nice.

Paul: So you told me that you broke up with J.T. in Hawaii.

Victoria: Yes. That much is true.

Paul: But that wasn't the last time you spoke with him?

Victoria: No.

Paul: So, what did you talk about when he showed up at your place?

Victoria: He admitted what he did to my father. Wait, no, that's wrong. J.T. claimed that my father and he had an argument, and it escalated, and that he never meant to hurt my father.

Paul: Did he say what he and Victor were arguing about?

Victoria: You and Christine. Dad discovered that J.T. was working for both of you, trying to- to find compromising evidence to use against my dad, but J.T. never found anything. So they argued, and they fought, and then J.T. said my father fell.

Paul: He thought that Victor was dead.

Victoria: And even though he swore it was an accident, he never called for help.

Paul: And you had no idea.

Victoria: No.

Paul: [Sighs] So, when Victor was in the hospital, and his ventilator was turned off, that was J.T. as well?

Victoria: Yes.

Paul: So, when he confessed all this, you must have been furious.

Victoria: I felt like an idiot. I mean, this was a man that I loved, that was supposed to love me, and that asked me to remarry him. And now he was standing in front of me, telling me that he tried to kill my father, as if he had a right to do that. As if he had no other choice.

Paul: Then what happened?

Victoria: He asked me to run away with him.

Paul: He expected you to?

Victoria: He was desperate to get out of town. He knew that when my father recovered, that dad would tell everyone that J.T. tried to kill him, and that he would be arrested. So his solution was to pack up the kids and go on the run as a family.

Paul: And you said...?

Victoria: What kind of a life would that have been for my children, and for me? And I had broken up with him for a reason. Because he...

Paul: Because J.T. was violent with you. What then? What happened next? Victoria?

Victoria: He... [Sighs] J.T....

Paul: What did J.T. do?

Victoria: He left.

Paul: Just like that?

Victoria: No, it-- It was... I wanted to hate him for what he did. I wanted to order him out of my house, and for him to leave, and to never have to see him again.

Paul: But that's not what happened.

Victoria: No. He surprised me. He, um...

Paul: What?

Victoria: He asked me for help. I loved him, Paul. So I gave him money - cash - to help him disappear.

Paul: Why didn't you call the police?

Victoria: I don't know. I hated what J.T. did to me, and to my father. [Sighs] But there was... there was something.

Paul: You felt sorry for him?

Victoria: I couldn't help it. There was more to J.T. than the man that he had become in the last six months. He was always going to be Reed's father, and he was always going to be the man that I was in love with and that married me. I know it's irrational, and I know that it's very weak, but I couldn't report him to the police.

Paul: So you helped him escape.

Victoria: Yes.

Paul: So, after he had gone, why didn't you come to me?

Victoria: Because I told him that I wouldn't do that. I thought about a trial, and I thought about what it would do to Reed.

Paul: The guy would have been in prison for the rest of his life. Where he belongs.

Victoria: I realize that on some level that what he wanted, and what he was asking for was worse than prison. J.T. would never get to see Reed again. Or any of his kids. And he loves them.

Paul: So, you let him get away with it? You let him go.

Victoria: J.T. can never come home. Ever. And I feel like that is punishment enough.

Abby: If my Uncle Jack is just chilling somewhere with electricity and WiFi, why hasn't he answered any of my texts?

Arturo: Hey, weren't you recently in the news about getting stuck in a storage locker with a guy or something?

Abby: Yes.

Arturo: Mm. You being stuck in a storage locker, and us being stuck in this cabin - it's really not all that different. So, is that, like, your thing?

Abby: No, this is- this is nothing like that night. I mean, that night was... terrifying.

Arturo: I'm sorry. I didn't realize. I guess that's what I get for half-listening to my kid sister.

Abby: Yeah, you missed the highlights. The guy I was dating, he...Well, he turned out to be a criminal and a psycho, and he locked my co-worker Scott and me in a storage locker. We didn't know if we were going to make it out alive.

Arturo: Psycho exes. Happens a lot.

Abby: You, too?

Arturo: Me? No, never. What is it?

Abby: Well, I thought I heard a car. [Sighs]

Arturo: I don't see anything.

Abby: No, there's nothing out here. If my Uncle Jack had intended on coming back, I mean, he would have come back by now, right? Maybe he was so messed up by everything going on, that he forgot to put the fire out in the fireplace, and he headed back to Genoa City. Maybe we came all this way for nothing.

Arturo: Oh, not completely. I really did enjoy getting to know a little bit more about you.

Abby: Told you so.[Chuckles]

Arturo: But I've been checking the radar, and that storm is coming back, and with vengeance, so this is probably our last window to get out of here.

Abby: [Sighs] I don't know.

Arturo: Have you considered maybe he did come back?

Abby: And he saw the lights from the road and knew that a family member had tracked him down here?

Arturo: Would he have come in?

Abby: Probably not. Okay, fine. I will head back to Genoa City with you, on one condition.

Arturo: Oh, you got conditions now?

Abby: You let me drive that totally awesome beast of a truck.

Arturo: Okay. What car service did you want to use again?

Abby: Come on!

Arturo: No! I have invested way too much money in customizing that truck.

Abby: I am a good driver.

Arturo: Oh, just good?

Abby: Excellent.

Arturo: Not enough, all right? I am the only one that drives that truck.

Abby: Fine. I'll get our clothes.

Arturo: [Sighs] All good?

Abby: What if you let me drive the truck...

Arturo: No

Abby: ...to the highway?

Arturo: No, no.

Abby: Halfway to the highway?

Arturo: Well...

Abby: Yeah?

Arturo: No. But you can choose the music.

Abby: [Chuckles]

Victoria: Any more questions?

Paul: A few. Why did the other women at your girls' night party lie about seeing J.T.?

Victoria: They didn't lie. When J.T. came to the front door, they were all in the kitchen.

Paul: Oh, lucky for him. Did he use his key?

Victoria: No, he rang the doorbell. I told him that I had company, and he went upstairs to wait for me.

Paul: And no one heard or saw any of that.

Victoria: Well, yeah, they heard the doorbell, of course, but I didn't want to involve my mother or any of the others, so when they came back in and asked me who was at the door, I told them that it was Abby, but that she decided not to stay. So if there are any discrepancies in their answers, then that's why.

Paul: So why not just tell them the truth?

Victoria: Because I was ashamed of what J.T. had done to me and I- I didn't even want to mention his name. So I just said the first thing that came to my mind. There's something that I want to be very clear on. None of this is on the other women. It's all on me. I told them nothing. Do you doubt me?

Paul: Women usually confide in their friends.

Victoria: Yes, well, not me. Not about J.T. Our relationship started to deteriorate, and I didn't want to say anything about it to anyone. I was also ashamed for what he had done to me, and I guess I was even more ashamed that I didn't leave him sooner.

Paul: So you told no one.

Victoria: No, I- I didn't. I was just protecting my privacy. I mean, if my dad hadn't put that camera in my house, then... I'm honestly still really embarrassed that you know about what J.T. did to me. I haven't even found the courage to tell my own sister. [Sighs] And I think that's where I made my mistake.

Paul: What, by letting J.T. run?

Victoria: No. By hiding what he did. If I had just told someone - my mother, my brother, someone - maybe things would have been different, but I didn't. And then when J.T. showed up that night, I was upset about what had happened to my father. I was upset about the breakup. I was upset that Reed was going to lose communication with his father.

Paul: And when I showed up?

Victoria: I'm sorry, Paul. I just felt so guilty. That's why I didn't tell you everything before. Really, I'm so sorry.

Paul: Okay, um... It's late.

Victoria: Okay, so, we're done then?

Paul: For now. You should go home, I should do the same. And, um...

Victoria: If you have any more questions, then just -

Paul: We can continue tomorrow.

Victoria: Okay.

Paul: Goodnight.

Jack: [Panting]

Woman: Hi. Is Devon around?

Hilary: He's not in yet. Is he expecting you?

Woman: Yes, we have a meeting.

Hilary: Isn't it a little early for that?

Woman: The only time I could meet Devon was for breakfast.

Devon: Hey, you're right on time. I have reservations for us downstairs.

Woman: Sounds perfect.

Devon: Cool. See you later.

Jack: [Sighs]

[Cellphone rings]

Nikki: [Gasps] Jack!

Jack: Hey, Nikki.

Nikki: Ashley reached out to me yesterday wanting to know if I had seen you, I've been so-  Jack, hello? Hey, it's me. We got disconnected. Please call me back.

[Doorbell rings]

Abby: Hi. What are you doing here? You brought me coffee and pastries.

Arturo: You asked, I delivered.

Abby: I never asked.

Arturo: I think you did. "Hey, Arturo, wanted to thank you again for coming through for me last night. Still no word on my uncle. Came over to my mom's place to fill her and Kyle in before they take off to work. Exhausted from our long drive to and from the cabin, so I'll probably take a shower and hang out. Man, what I would give for a coffee. I'll bet you're tired, too. Did I thank you? In case I didn't, thanks." You're welcome.

Abby: I'm blown away. Please.

Arturo: I hope I got your drink order right.

Abby: Mm! Cream, sugar, and a dash of cinnamon, how did you know?

Arturo: I heard you order it last night. What'd your family say about, uh, you know, what we found?

Abby: [Scoffs] You mean who we didn't find?

Arturo: I was hoping between the time you sent the message and now, maybe...

Abby: No. Still no word from Uncle Jack. I wish he would call us and let us know where he is.

Arturo: Well, I mean, it's definitely not good that this much time has passed, but, on the other hand, you guys could involve the police now, and they'll find him.

Abby: Yeah. I just hope he's safe. Thank you for all of this. But, you know, it still doesn't make up for you not letting me drive your truck.

Arturo: [Scoffs] Are you still mad about that?

Abby: I asked for one tiny, small request, in my time of need...

Arturo: You are just trying to make me feel guilty.

Abby: Is it working?

Arturo: No. [Chuckles]

Abby: Be honest. Did you not let me drive your truck because I'm a woman?

Arturo: [Scoffs]

Abby: I hope you're more evolved than that.

Arturo: Come on. It's got absolutely nothing to do with gender. My brother Ray has been bothering me for years about driving that truck. It's not happening. I am the only one that sits in that seat.

Abby: I'll wear you down.

Arturo: Oh, it'll be fun letting you try. And if you need me to drive you...

Abby: Yeah, um, going to the cabin last night, it was a long shot.

Arturo: At least you know he was there.

Abby: That's more than anyone else has found.

Victoria: I'm just worried about the house, and then taking care of the boys.

Devon: Well, I would ask you to join us.

Victoria: Thank you, I have a lot of work to do, I just wanted to say hi. Nice to meet you.

Devon: Glad you did. See you.

Victoria: See you.

Paul: Hey.

Victoria: Hey. You looking for me?

Paul: Well, I saw you when I was leaving the gym, and I thought since we're both here, we could continue our conversation.

Victoria: I was expecting you to call me down to the station later.

Paul: Well, we're both here now. Why wait?

Victoria: Yeah, you're right, it's better to get it over with now. I do have a busy day at the office, though.

Paul: All right, let's get right to it, have a seat. So, tell me about the night J.T. left your place.

Victoria: What about it?

Paul: Well, did he give you any idea where he was going?

Victoria: He knew that he had to leave the country, but nothing specific.

Paul: Did he say how he was going to manage that, or where he'd go?

Victoria: No. I just wanted him gone.

Paul: Have you heard from him since that night?

Victoria: You know the answer to that. [Scoffs] You have his phone.

Paul: Oh, come on Victoria.  J.T. could have bought a new cell phone. Or called you on a hard line. I will ask you again. Have you had any contact with J.T. since the night he disappeared? Email, text, unknown number. Anything!

Victoria: No, nothing. I swear. I haven't spoken to J.T. since the night he disappeared.

Tessa: Well you're in early.

Hilary: Hey, um...Who is Devon having breakfast with this morning?

Tessa: Breakfast? I mean, that's news to me. I mean, there's nothing in his calendar, so Devon must have set it up on his own. Well, I, uh- I need coffee. You?

Hilary: No, thanks.

Devon: Hey. You gettin' a lot done?

Hilary: Absolutely. You know, when you broke things off with Simone, I thought you said you didn't have time to date anyone.

Devon: I don't.

Hilary: You were just on a breakfast date. Come on, I thought we weren't keeping secrets from each other.

Devon: We're not. Are we?

Hilary: Then who was that woman?

Devon: That woman was a colleague with whom I had a breakfast meeting.

Hilary: How come Tessa didn't know about it?

Devon: Because I don't tell Tessa everything I do or who I meet with. This is regarding a potential project that I'm planning, but nothing's firm, so there's nothing to talk about.

Victoria: So what happens now? Will I be arrested because I didn't tell you I saw J.T. the night he disappeared?

Paul: Well, I'll have to discuss that with the district attorney, but I am expecting a call from Christine any minute, so, stick around.

Victoria: All right.

Paul: I'll be right back.

Victoria: Take your time.

Abby: Are you a betting man?

Arturo: I am. I love taking risks.

Abby: In that case...

Arturo: But I would not wager if the payoff involved letting someone drive my truck.

Abby: [Chuckles]

[Doorbell rings]

Abby: Oh! Hopefully that's someone with news on Uncle Jack. Hi, come in! I'm surprised to see you here so early in the morning.

Nikki: Well, I'm worried about Jack, and...Arturo.

Woman: Excuse me again? Devon left this at our meeting.

Tessa: Oh, I'm Devon's assistant. I'll make sure he gets it.

Hilary: So...What is it?

Tessa: I'm not sure. It's Devon's.

Hilary: Aren't you curious what's in the package?

Tessa: Sure. But clearly not as curious as you are. Okay. Wow, it's- it's beautiful.

Hilary: A "potential new project." That's what Devon's working on? A nursery. For the luckiest baby in the world.

Victoria: You spoke to Christine?

Paul: Yes, I filled her in on your new information.

Victoria: Well, since you're not pulling out the cuffs, I'm guessing she decided not to bring charges against me.

Paul: Well, at this point, I agree with Chris. There's really not much point in pursuing this right now, so...We are going to continue the investigation, and we will expect your full cooperation later.

Victoria: Later?

Paul: When we find J.T.nd A we will. I am not giving up that search until it happens.

Victoria: I'll help you in any way that I can.

Nikki: I got a call from Jack a little while ago.

Abby: Nikki, that's- that's wonderful. Where is he?

Nikki: I don't know, he hung up when I answered, but I thought that Ashley and the rest of the family would want to know. Is Ashley here?

Abby: No, she left for work.

Nikki: Oh, I'm sorry I missed her. When she called me yesterday to ask if I had seen Jack, I- Well, I knew how very concerned you must be, as am I.

Abby: No clue where he was calling from?

Nikki: No, but at least he seems to be trying to reach out.

Abby: Thank you for coming by to let us know. I'll fill the rest of the family in.

Arturo: I gotta get going.

Nikki: You know, Arturo, it's always good to see you, but I can't help but wonder what my business associate is doing here, so early in the morning.

Arturo: I was-

Abby: Well, no, he wasn't ditching work or anything like that. See, I wanted to go look for my Uncle Jack at the cabin, and with the storm coming in, well Arturo thoughtfully offered to drive me to the cabin since his truck has four-wheel drive.

Nikki: Well, that was very thoughtful. And what did you find in the cabin?

Abby: It was warm and cozy, complete with a fire in the fireplace. with no sign of Uncle Jack. We hung around for a while, but he never showed up.

Nikki: Hm.  How long did you wait?

Abby: A long time. We actually just got back into town a few hours ago.

Nikki: Wow. Well, that was extremely kind and considerate of you, Arturo. Aren't we lucky to have both met such a great guy?

Abby: Eh, he's okay.

Arturo: Oh, just okay, huh?

Abby: [Chuckles]

Nikki: Look, uh, I know that my step-daughter is very concerned about her uncle, so, I hope you didn't take advantage of her vulnerability.

Abby: No, no. It wasn't anything like that at all. But, for the record, I can take care of myself. We were just looking for my Uncle Jack.

Arturo: Yeah, I gotta get going.

Nikki: I'll walk out with you.

Abby: Um, thank you. Both of you, for everything.

Arturo: Glad I could help. Nikki, it's really nice to see you, but I don't want to be late.  I gotta get going.

Nikki: Well, because you work for me, I will approve you being a few minutes late because we have to talk.

Arturo: About New Hope?

Nikki: No, about my stepdaughter. I thought I made it clear when I spotted the two of you at the club that I don't approve of you seeing her. It's just a little too close to home.

Arturo: Out of respect for you and our relationship, when you asked me to step back, I did.

Nikki: Well, then why aren't you keeping your distance?

Arturo: We're not together anymore. Nikki, you ended things with me, which I understood. The open marriage thing wasn't for you. We enjoyed ourselves, but moving on was never going to be a problem for either of us, right?

Nikki: That's right, but -

Arturo: And our situation changed. And with that situation so did the rules. I can date whoever I want, okay, without running it by you.

Nikki: Yes, of course you can, however -

Arturo: And about Abby - we're not dating. She's not my type.

Nikki: Really? She is a beautiful, intelligent young woman... If she's not your type, was I your type?

Arturo: What do you think? We did enjoy ourselves, no?

Nikki: Yes, we did.

Arturo: Now we're all about business. And I'm a free agent.

Nikki: Yes, it's just that when it comes to Abby, I -

Arturo: Nikki.

Nikki: I just -

Arturo: Nikki...

Nikki: You know, I don't resent you dating her.

Arturo: See, that- that right there might be what's holding us up. That word - "dating". I think it'd be best if my dating life is just a subject that's left off the table. Agree?

Nikki: Does that mean things will be awkward between us?

Arturo: Not for me. I really hope you don't make it that way on your end.

Paul: I just wrapped up my talk with Victoria. Well, she's sticking to her story. Yeah, she has no idea where J.T. went, and she hasn't heard from him since the night he disappeared. I don't know, Chris. Either she's innocent, or she's an excellent liar. Me? I think it's the latter.

Jack: Hey, I see you still have my name on your phone. Yeah, it's been a long time. No, this isn't a social call, I'm calling to see if you're still in the same business you were when I was in all that pain. Great. Great. Yeah.  Yeah, I- I could use some help. I'm kind of hurting. As quick as I can get it.
