Episode #11365 ~ Jack loses his cool; Nick's attempts at goodwill backfire; Ashley protects her reputation.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Nick: What is going on with you and arturo?

Nikki: Oh, don't worry about your father. We have an arrangement.

Nick: How long you gonna run with this? Because dad's gonna find out, an agreement or not.

Victor: I want you to follow him. I want you to tap his phone. I want to know who the hell he's in contact with. Exercise caution. This guy's in the security business.

Victoria: What are you keeping from me?

J.T.: Rehashing my crappy marriage is not gonna do anybody any good.

Victoria: You want to be my partner, then act like it!

J.T.: Failed executive. Bad mother. Even worse wife. And that's not even to mention all the daddy issues you have!

Victoria: Let go of me!

J.T.: Stop it! Stop it!

Victoria: [ Breathing hard ]

[ Gasps, sniffles ]

[ Whimpers, gasping ]

[ Footsteps approach ]

Sharon: Wedding or funeral?

Nick: Uh, neither. It's that thing with my mom.

Sharon: Oh. What thing?

Nick: You know, the meeting with the potential benefactors for the low-income housing project. It was your idea.

Sharon: I-I didn't know that you'd set that up already.

Nick: I didn't say anything? Oh, it's later this afternoon. Are you around?

Sharon: I can be.

Nick: Great. Uh, then you wouldn't mind, uh, helping out --

Sharon: I would love to! Oh, my gosh.

Nick: Oh, cool. Which one?

Sharon: Um... plaid.

Nick: Thanks.

[ Door closes ]

Jack: Hey!

Abby: Uncle jack. Back so soon? Surely there are some other continents you can't wait to visit.

Jack: My trip to europe was strictly business, but it didn't stop me from doing a little shopping. A gift for you. I also got something for your mother.

Abby: Thank you.

Ashley: I thought i heard your voice.

Jack: Yeah. Just walked in.

Ashley: Shocking that you're showing your face after conveniently being absent for so long.

Jack: Well, I'm sorry if it was inconvenient for you, but it couldn't be helped. Anyway, this is for you.

Ashley: Nice. Thank you.

Jack: I just wanted to let you know I've been thinking about you.

Ashley: Oh, I've been thinking about you, too. I got you something.

Jack: Oh?

Ashley: I'm suing you for defamation of character. Welcome home.

Sharon: You won't have to be here for long. The nanny doesn't have to leave for another hour or so, and I'm sure that nick and I are gonna be back before dinner. So if you could just watch christian and faith in between that time -- okay. Great. Thanks, mariah. All right. Uh, got to go. Bye. So, where will this meeting be taking place?

Nick: Uh, up at the main house.

Sharon: Oh, good.

Nick: Wow, look at you. You have plans, too?

Sharon: No. Uh... I-I was just going through some old clothes.

Nick: Well, don't give away that. You look great in it. Wish me luck?

Sharon: Always.

Jack: Why are you so damn angry?

Ashley: Stupid question. You damaged my reputation with your duplicity.

Jack: No, no. That is not the case. None of this has been public. You take this to court, everyone will know about it. Is that what you want?

Ashley: I'm not dropping it, jack.

Abby: Don't look at me. I'm with mom on this one.

Dina: Who's arguing out there?!

Ashley: Nobody is, mother. We can't do this in front of her, all right? She's already upset enough as it is.

Jack: Has her condition gotten worse?

Jack: Well, I hope you're at least happy to see me --

Dina: I'm furious with you, john. Running off to the europe, leaving me with the children, all of whom have been behaving like spoiled brats.

Jack: I-I -- I'm sorry. Duty called. Now that I am home, though, maybe we can have some peace in this house.

[ Footsteps approach ]

J.T.: You okay?

Victoria: What happened down there?

J.T.: It was an argument. And, um...

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ] You know I'm sorry, right?

Victoria: [ Sniffles ] The things that you said to me... the way that you reacted...

[ Gasps ]

J.T.: Yeah, I know.

[ Victoria whimpers ] We both got carried away. But it --

[ Sighs ] Don't -- please don't cry.

Victoria: We can't stay together. We can't stay together.

J.T.: No. Don't say that.

Victoria: It's just the only way to make sure that something like this doesn't happen again, that we cannot hurt each other again.

[ Sighs ] You have to go.

J.T.: Is that what you really want? (Vo) make her day with

Jack: Then you understand, and you forgive me?

Dina: This time. But make sure it never happens again.

Jack: You have my word.

Dina: Okay.

Jack: Has she seen the doctor since I left? Is she on a new medication?

Ashley: There's nothing we can do.

Abby: Well, I'm not just gonna throw my hands up in defeat. I think that this might help us all deal better with the situation.

Jack: You've been recording your grandmother?

Abby: I've been interviewing her, documenting her life stories.

Jack: And? Has she been remembering things?

Abby: I think it's fun for her. Therapeutic, even. I can show you some of the footage.

Jack: Well, I-I'd love to see them another time. I have to run now.

Ashley: Where are you going now?

Jack: You know how it is when you're away -- you have so much to catch up on.

Ashley: That's very vague. And disturbing, considering what you've been up to lately. Today, I'm doing some real good.

Victoria: Are you still there?

J.T.: Yeah. I'm not gonna leave without seeing you, all right? I -- I got to make sure you're okay.

Victoria: But then after that you'll go? Why wait?

J.T.: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: Why don't you just go now? I mean... you've made it... really clear that you disapprove of everything that I do.

J.T.: No, that's -- that's not true.

[ Sighs ] I-I have -- I buttons that get pushed, okay, and so do you. But in spite of them -- and maybe because of them -- we love each other. Don't we?

Victoria: That's not the issue.

J.T.: [ Sighs heavily ] I-I haven't been completely up front about what the real issue is.

Victoria: Which is?

J.T.: Next to you, I, uh... I kind of -- I kind of look like a loser, don't I?

Victoria: No. Don't -- don't say that.

J.T.: Oh, it's true. All I have are a bunch of hopes and dreams that, uh...

[Sighs] Never really came true. But, um... until now. With you.

Victoria: Do you mean that? Because [Sniffles] Sometimes it feels like...

J.T.: I'm competing with you?

Victoria: Yeah.

J.T.: Well, I'm not. I'm supporting you. This life with you, this time with reed, it's what I've always wanted, you know, and... I-I'm so scared that I'm gonna lose it [Scoffs] That I get, uh... I get judgmental and pushy and... the truth is, I'm fighting for you and him with everything I got.

[ Sighs ] Are you still there?

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: Well, you look rested.

Jack: Am I supposed to look exhausted? The jet lag hasn't kicked in just yet.

Nikki: Oh. [ Chuckles ] Look who's here.

Jack: Hey.

Devon: Jack. Great to see you.

Jack: Good to see you.

Nick: Hey, jack.

Jack: Though I'm not really sure why we're here.

Nikki: Please sit down.

Jack: Thanks.

Devon: Now, you said, nikki, that you wanted to talk about contributing to a good cause. So is this about rainbow gardens, or...?

Nikki: Well, in a way. That apartment building represents one small step to affordable housing in genoa city.

Nick: Yeah, we would like to take that idea and really run with it. Basically put it on steroids.

Devon: I think they're looking for us to write a couple of big checks.

Nikki: And we always appreciate that. But we need more than your money. We need you.

Victor: Well, now. That's quite a proposition. Uh oh.

Victoria: [ Gasps, sniffles ] Oh!

[ Crying ]

[ Footsteps approach ]

J.T.: Did you think I was gonna hit you?

Victoria: Can you blame me?

J.T.: I have never hit you. Nor would I ever hit you.

Victoria: You grabbed my throat.

J.T.: Only because you went ballistic and -- and slapped me.

[ Sighs ] I hate myself for doing that to you.

Victoria: It wasn't just this. It wasn't just today.

[ Sighs ] This animosity has been building between us for a while. You're always putting me down, and you're always making me second-guess myself.

J.T.: Is that what you think I'm doing?

Victoria: You're always criticizing me.

J.T.: I-I'm -- I never intended to make you feel unworthy. Okay, I-I -- I only want what's best for you. My only agenda is to love you and to be honest with you. If you want me to go, if you're ready to give up on this, just tell me.

[ Door opens ]

Reed: Hey. I'm glad you're both here. I wanted to ask you guys -- what -- what's going on?

Ashley: Oh, you bet I will. Thank you. Bye-bye.

Abby: Your attorney?

Ashley: Yeah. I let him know that I served jack.

Abby: You're really gonna sue uncle jack?

Ashley: Why wouldn't I?

Abby: Okay, yes, I agree, what he did to you was awful. But I don't think he was intentionally out to hurt you.

Ashley: You could have fooled me. Well, you look very festive.

Dina: I'm ready for my close-up.

[ Giggles ]

Abby: Oh, um... well, I hadn't planned on, um... you know, I don't know if today is the best day to record you.

Dina: Well, why not?

Abby: Well, you've had a busy morning. You might be tired.

Dina: Nonsense!

Abby: Okay. Um... I will set up the camera.

Dina: Thank you.

Ashley: Are you sure that you're up for this, mother?

Dina: Ugh! You know, you show-business types are so informal. I may be old enough to be your mother, young lady, but it's totally inappropriate for you to use that term with me. We haven't even been formally introduced.

Ashley: I'm sorry.

Abby: What a great topic. Why don't we start today's interview talking about your beautiful, brilliant daughter, ashley.

Dina: Ah. Mm-hmm!

Victor: You said you were working on a charity project.

Nikki: Yes, well, I didn't want to go into details before this meeting, but, uh, it's still in the early stages. We're courting benefactors.

Victor: And you're inviting jack abbott into our home after you know damn well what he has done to his sister.

Nikki: Do I need to remind you that our daughter was equally involved in that espionage? And you have forgiven victoria.

Victor: Are you asking me to forgive jack abbott?

Nikki: No, no. I know better than that.

Victor: Good.

Nikki: All right. I should get back to my guests. You're welcome to join us.

Victor: Well, one second. Before you embarked upon this little project, I offered to help you. You said, "not now."

Nikki: Well, that was before nicholas and I expanded our goals. We're forming a new charitable, nonprofit trust company, and we're going to ask devon and jack to join our board.

Victor: To oversee one apartment complex?

Nikki: Actually, several complexes. The first one in genoa city, and then after that, statewide, and after that, hopefully all over the country. All to serve low-income families with good, affordable housing.

Victor: It's a hell of a project.

Nikki: Well, I would be thrilled to have your input, connections, and deep pockets at my disposal. Are you still offering?

Devon: So I take it that victor wasn't supposed to show up?

Nick: No, mom and I thought he'd be in the office all day.

Jack: You think he'll be sticking around?

Nick: I hope not. I'm hoping mom will get him out of here soon.

Jack: The sooner, the better.

Nikki: Well, I'm happy to announce we're adding another supporter to our ranks. And nicholas and I have provided preliminary notes for your perusal, so you might want to take this opportunity to look it over.

Victor: All right.

Devon: Sounds good.

Devon: Why don't I take this one, guys?

Nick: What's up with bringing dad on board?

Nikki: Your father's money and connections will be very handy for us.

Nick: Yeah, but will it be worth it?

Nikki: He's not gonna be a problem.

Nick: When is he ever not a problem?

Victor: The figures are off. The financials involved in building a project of this size...

Nikki: Are all being expertly handled. Hi.

Arturo: Hey.

Nikki: Gentlemen, may I introduce to you mr. Arturo rosales. He is the answer to all our prayers.

Dina: You know, john always calls her "my beauty." And I must admit, our ashley is a stunner.

[ Chuckles ]

Abby: What's your favorite memory of her?

Dina: Well, that's -- that's kind of difficult, because I lost touch with ashley long ago.

Abby: What about when she was younger?

Dina: Well, ashley's still a child, dear, and has always been very difficult. Thank heaven for jack.

Abby: What about when you first brought her home from the hospital?

Ashley: If you don't mind, um, I'd like to hear more about your daughter and her brother. Could you tell me some more about your children?

Dina: Well, I... I haven't thought about it for a very long time. But there was this one time... I'd taken both children to the park. Ashley was a bit sad because her father was out of town on a business trip, and I had instructed that she wear playclothes. But ashley was born stubborn and insisted on wearing her favorite yellow-striped dress. But around and around and around that tree she went, paying me no mind.

Abby: Where was jack?

Dina: Oh, jack was off playing ball with his friends, of course.

Ashley: Well, didn't you say that the story was about both of them?

Dina: I'm getting to that. Jack left his friends and plopped down beside that tree with his school bag, and proceeded to set up ashley's little tea set. Oh! That's all it took. She lit up like the sun, so happy and excited. Honored that her jackie was having tea with her. Oh, how she worshipped her big brother. Hmm. To her, he could do no wrong.

Ashley: I remember that day.

Dina: Excuse me, miss. Are you all right?

Abby: It was the story.

Dina: Well, was it really that sad?

Ashley: It was very touching.

Abby: It's hard when you have siblings. I have a sister, and when we argue... you've reminded us that it's the love we need to remember.

Dina: The love.

Arturo: The numbers nikki gave you are feasible because of some adjustments we've already made in the design. Fewer corners and cutting out the number of hallways within each apartment.

Devon: Now, can you tell us a little more about the sustainable construct?

Arturo: Sure. Sure. Yeah. Let me take you through it.

Nick: Uh... do you think it's a little dangerous to bring arturo here?

Nikki: I didn't expect your father to be here, but why should it be a problem? Arturo's discreet, and this is business.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Look, I don't want to police you, but I feel compelled to remind you who you are dealing with. Dad may claim to be okay with an open relationship. He may even have a special friend on the side somewhere.

Nikki: Okay, that is none of my business, and it certainly is not yours.

Nick: Dad has one set of rules for himself, and another set for everyone else. If dad finds out that he entertained your, uh... your companion in his home, it's not gonna be pretty.

Reed: Seriously, what's up with you two? Seems tense.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] Well, you know, uh, your mom and I were just talking about --

Victoria: Work. If you want to hear all about profit and loss statements.

Reed: I'm good, thanks. But being that you guys are busy with work stuff, maybe you wouldn't mind if I spent a little while longer at jayden's?

Victoria: How long a while?

Reed: Till after dinner, or... I-I mean, we're working on music, and he's got his keyboard set up.

Victoria: You know, um... I'm not sure that's a good idea, reed. Tonight's a scho--

Reed: I know it's a school night, but I've got all my homework done.

Victoria: But what about --

Reed: Jayden's mom is cool with it. She's gonna be there, too. So could I, please?

Victoria: Sounds good.

Reed: Really?

J.T.: Are you sure?

Reed: Mom, is something wrong?

J.T.: You know, uh, why don't you just take "yes" for an answer, all right, buddy? As long as jayden's mom is cool with it.

Reed: Yeah, no, she's good. She even offered for me to spend the night to make it easier to get to school in the morning, but, um, I figured you'd shoot that down.

J.T.: Uh, well... maybe just this once.

Victoria: I'll text his mom to confirm.

Reed: Wow. Thanks! I'll go pack my bag.

J.T.: Should i pack a bag, too?

Allergies with sinus

congestion and pressure?

Devon: Excellent presentation, man.

Arturo: Thanks.

Jack: Some groundbreaking ideas.

Nikki: Well, thank you. We're very optimistic and excited about how things are moving forward.

Victor: And you have no objection to my involvement in this?

Nick: You know, I'm not gonna take newman money for my own pocket, but for the less fortunate, why not?

Victor: That's nice.

Nick: I just want to make sure we're clear on something. This focus is going to be on the homeless. This is not a part of your pr machine. Uh, I'm gonna take off. Mom, I'll see you later.

Nikki: Bye. Take care, honey.

Nick: Bye, everyone.

Jack: See you later.

Devon: See ya. I should get going, as well, but I have a couple questions for arturo, if that's all right.

Arturo: Sure. I'd be happy to.

Devon: Thanks.

Jack: Thanks again, arturo.

Arturo: See you.

Victor: Think it's a good idea for you to show your face here after what you have done to your sister ashley?

Jack: Was it your idea that ashley sue her own brother for defamation of character?

Victor: Hate to disappoint you. It was your sister's brainchild. I had nothing to do with it. But I will do everything in my power to help her win.

Jack: Knock yourself out.

Victor: She will win.

Jack: You seem awfully sure of yourself.

Victor: You know why? Because every time you go up against me, you lose.

Jack: You're using ashley the same way you always do.

Victor: Don't blame me for your failures, jack. Once again, you've succeeded at accomplishing the very opposite of what you intended. You have driven away your sister for good.

Nick: [ Sighs ] It went great. They all agreed to help create the new nonprofit and be on the board, so we are on our way.

Sharon: That's wonderful. Glad it went well.

Nick: Is christian okay?

Sharon: He's napping.

Nick: Real-estate listings. Is that for mariah? Is she finally gonna look for a place of her own?

Sharon: Nope. You are.

Reed: Thanks again for loosing the reins.

Victoria: Well, don't make me regret it.

Reed: I won'T.

Victoria: Don't stay up too late, okay? Oh, and please just mind your manners.

Reed: Yeah, yeah.

Victoria: All right. I love you.

Reed: Love you, too. I'll see you later.

Victoria: What are you thinking?

J.T.: How terrible it would have been if he would have come home earlier and seen the two of us... like me [Sighs] Grabbing you. Mnh-mnh.

Victoria: Or me slapping you.

J.T.: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: But he didn'T. He didn'T. And he's fine. Because we do right by him.

[ Sighs ] It's just too bad we can't figure out a way that we can do right by each other.

J.T.: Maybe we can.

Victoria: How can you say that after what happened?

J.T.: Look, it was...a terrible way to get there. But upstairs, we -- we were finally honest with each other. And the most honest thing I said was I love you, and I'll never let things like -- like that happen again. Listen to me. We -- we're two strong, passionate people. We're allowed to disagree. But we want the best for each other, and -- and... we're meant to be together. (Vo) make her day with

Sharon: We have to be realistic.'T go on indefinitely. It's just a little, um, confusing, because we used to be married, and now we're living together when neither one of us isE. It just becomes a little bit too easy to get... Relaxed with each otheR. And then throw christian into the mix, and it just becomes really complicated.Re, uh, caused you distress?

Sharon: No. No, no, no. Not at all.

Nick: Well, then it really comes down to what other people think. And, frankly, I couldn't care less that other people disapprove, and you shouldn't, either. Sharon, you've been a great friend to me, and i really value that.

Sharon: Everything you just said -- I feel the same way. But then I just got to thinking about what would be best for you and the kids and me, and I think we'd all be better off, and just happier, if you got your own place.

Nick: I mean, you were fine last night -- and even earlier today. Where's this coming from?

Sharon: I just told you.

Nick: Okay. If this is what you really want.

Sharon: It is.

Jack: Is it completely lost on you that your own daughter felt sold-out by you?

Victor: She has a longstanding issue with your sister ashley.

Jack: Oh, no, no, no. This wasn't about ashley. Victoria came to me because of your disloyalty.

Victor: And where's victoria now? By my side, with me at my company. And where's your sister ashley? She's also working for me at my company, instead of you and jabot.

Victor: You shot yourself in the foot.

Jack: Yeah, just like you did with victoria.

Nikki: Okay. You both need to stop this.

Jack: Manipulating your own daughter, convincing her she had to fight for a job she'd already earned.

Victor: At least she had the guts to own up to what she did.

Jack: Oh, you don't think I'll come up to you face-to-face --

Victor: Unlike you. You will cut and run!

Nikki: Guys, this -- enough! Enough!

Victor: You're a coward!

Nikki: Enough. Please.

Arturo: Mr. Abbott, please!

Devon: Mr. Newman. Mr. Newman, it's okay.

Nikki: Stop!

Jack: I cannot wait until the day you drop dead!

Victor: You watch it, boy.

Jack: That way nikki and your family and the rest of us won't have to deal with your crap anymore. I'm sorry, nikki.

[ Front door slams ]

J.T.: Answer me one question before I go. Who am I?

Victoria: I don't understand what you mean.

J.T.: No, positives and negatives.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Don'T.

J.T.: No. We listed this the night I proposed to you, remember?

Victoria: Yeah, well... we were different, I think.

J.T.: One -- we love each other. Two -- I make you laugh. Three -- I make your bad days better. Four -- you remember what four was?

Victoria: My sexy feet.

J.T.: [ Laughs ] Your sexy feet.

Victoria: Yeah. And then there was the other one -- that we would always tell each other the truth. And the truth is, is... the truth is, is that I slapped you. And you -- you grabbed my neck.

J.T.: Why are we letting that be the one moment that defines us? I mean, if you're gonna pick a moment, how about all the hours that -- that I held your hand, you know...

[ Sighs ] ...When you almost died, you know right before -- right before our child was born. Or, uh, our wedding day. Or how about all those late nights that we walked the floor with reed, exhausted, and wondering who the hell he was gonna be when he grows up?

Victoria: Yeah, I know i never saw the teenage-musician thing happening.

J.T.: Yeah, but we should have. We should have, because he is what defines us. The thought of never having that again -- you know, not hearing johnny and katie sing in the car, or dancing in the kitchen when -- when reed's playing his guitar. You know, or -- or not being there for you after a big fight with your father. I mean, the -- the thought of not having that again in my life is killing me.

Victoria: Me too.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] What are we doing? All right, why are we letting one bad moment ruin all of this?

Victoria: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

J.T.: Yeah, me too.

Victoria: I know. I know.

[ Sniffles ]

J.T.: Victoria --

Victoria: I can'T. I can't do this.

J.T.: Why not?

Victoria: Because what if it happens again?

J.T.: It won'T. It won't happen again.

Victoria: You said to me to tell you who you are. You're this guy that -- that vowed to love me until death, and you didn'T. And then -- and then you gave me a baby. And then you took him away.

J.T.: You're saying if i promised you that I will never raise a hand to you again, that you -- you don't believe me?

Victoria: All these promises that we made -- we weren't lying. We were just wrong. That's all we -- [ Sighs ] What if we're wrong again?

J.T.: We won't be.

Victoria: Honestly, I don't know how...

[ Sighs ] I don't know how.

J.T.: To be... to be trusting? To trust yourself? Trust this. You know? Trust this. Come on. Yeah? Close your eyes and imagine never having this again. Don't do it, victoria. Don't do it. Don't let one bad moment ruin what could be thousands of -- of beautiful moments ahead. Me loving you. You loving me. And trusting this.

Victoria: I do trust you. So let's go back to the way that things were. Only better.

J.T.: You know what would be the best?

Victoria: Ice cream?

J.T.: Marry me.

Victoria: What?

J.T.: Yeah. I'm the guy who has loved you the longest... and loved you the best. I've made some mistakes, but I've learned from them. And... what are the odds that I come back and you're here and you're free and...

Victoria: And it's so right? So right.

J.T.: We can't throw this away. We got to hold onto it forever. Marry me.
