Devon: I have learned the hard way that hilary is not someone who can be trusted. Ever.

Hilary: I would like to take this opportunity to offer my very public apology for those that I've hurt.

Victor: If I find you sliding back into your illicit ways, you're done. And your cozy life with nicholas is gonna change to another life, and it'll be a life in prison.

Nick: You're adopting christian.

Chelsea: And you're adopting connor.

Sharon: If we let him keep believing his son --

Phyllis: As long as chelsea stays in line, it does not matter if christian has adam's dna. You let nick stay blissfully unaware.

Sharon: You deserve to hear the truth.

Nick: Sharon, you there? Sharon. Talk to me. Hello?

Hilary: I truly hope the people that I've wronged take my apology to heart, and I hope you, my bees, learn from my mistakes. Lies and deception only cause pain and heartbreak. That's our time. Keep buzzing, and most of all, be open and honest with each other.

Phyllis: She can spin an apology into ratings gold. I mean, I'm impressed.

Billy: Oh, you liked that episode, did you?

Phyllis: Yeah. I mean, out of all the shows I've ever seen where the host eats a giant serving of crow, i mean, that -- that's got to be in top 3 picks right there.

Billy: Yeah.

Phyllis: Why are you grinning like that?

Billy: I'll give you a hint. Who has two thumbs and was the inspiration for that on-air mea culpa?

Phyllis: You inspired hilary's come-clean hour? You did that?

Billy: Yeppers.

Phyllis: Why?

Billy: Hmm?

Phyllis: 'Cause you have a secret weighing on your mind?

Billy: What?

Phyllis: I mean, what, is it your turn to be open and honest?

Billy: No, no, no, no. Hey. By inspiring, I mean, I put on my producer hat from the old restless style days and gave her a suggestion. I've got nothing, zero. And, hey, I know how that sounds, so just nothing from the peanut gallery, okay? Whoa, hold on a sec. We're gonna need that for later.

Phyllis: Get back here.

Billy: Now that is a flimsy lock.

Phyllis: We have old episodes of "the hilary hour" to catch up on.

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Why are you so distracted? Something is on your mind.

Billy: Did I give you a reason to think that I'm lying or something, that I'm keeping a secret?

Phyllis: You didn't drink straight out of the O.J. Carton this morning. That was suspicious. What was that?

Billy: What are you talking about right now? I don't know what that means.

Phyllis: I'm sorry, I'm being overly sensitive about it. It's just the whole chelsea thing, it's right here. Right there.

Billy: Duh, duh, duh, duh! We are not saying that name, okay? This is a that-name-free zone. We've wasted too much time running around trying to bust her. Tonight, this is about us. This is about gc buzz and chill.

Phyllis: Okay. You know what that means, right?

Billy: Yeah, I know what that means. Johnny and katie are upstairs, so we got to keep it family-friendly. For now.

Phyllis: For now.

[ Giggles ]

Nikki: Arturo, no, I can'T.

Chelsea: [ Gasps ]

Nikki: My grandchildren are staying with me. Listen, I will call you tomorrow. Bye-bye. Oh, my god! Sharon? Sharon! Sharon, are you all right? Can you hear me?

[ Gasps ] Yes, um, I need an ambulance. A woman has passed out. She's at crimson lights on hyde park. Yes. Please hurry! Oh, manatees. Aka "the sea cow."

Mariah: Well, I'm speechless.

Hilary: Well, that is refreshing.

Mariah: Turns out it was short-lived. We need to have a post-show powwow.

Hilary: Not now.

Mariah: What was that?

Hilary: That was me trying to get away from you.

Mariah: No, no, I'm not talking about you sprinting away from me. I'm talking about "the truth shall set you free" thing.

Hilary: It's the new direction that we're taking the show, you know, every day a new topical theme.

Mariah: Mm-hmm, but you chose this particular "theme" right before we were about to go on air and then hijacked the show.

Hilary: My show, my topic, okay? You don't like it, mariah, you can quit.

Mariah: And miss out on hosting all of those amazing lp streaming music acts? Yeah, no, I don't think so. Oh, are you expecting a call from the person that you're groveling to?

Hilary: I never grovel.

Mariah: Okay. Are you expecting a call from the person that you're not groveling but passionately apologizing to?

Hilary: This is none of your concern.

Mariah: Okay, fine. You don't want to tell me, i will find out eventually because I can count on one hand how many people that you don't want to piss off and have fingers left over.

Hilary: Fine, you're right. I disappointed the one person that I vowed never to let down, and now he is furious with me because of it.

Mariah: So, what'd you do to devon this time?

Victor: Look at that. Wow! Now, this is a wall. This is a very high and a thick wall. You did a good job. You know something, from here, we can watch the enemy as he approaches, right? We don't want him to penetrate this empire, do we? No way. Christian brought the strongest and the smartest guys to protect us. Keep on building there. See, this way, we protect the corner here, you see? They can't come in here. This is great protection. It's wonderful. You know, you look more like your father every day. No mistaking who your dad is.

Nick: Hey, mom.

Nikki: Oh, nicholas, I'm so glad you're here.

Nick: What are you doing here? Wait, do you have the kids?

Nikki: No, your father has them. I just came here to get some treats for them, but I found sharon on the floor.

Nick: What? Sharon? What's going on?

Nikki: No, no, no. She's in good hands.

Nick: Sharon?

Nikki: She's unconscious. She has been since I found her.

Nick: Okay, sharon, you're gonna be okay.

Nikki: She's okay, she'll be all right.

Nick: Take care of her. What the hell happened?

Nikki: I don't know! Introducing fresh step clean paws,

Nikki: Were they able to give you any information on her condition?

Nick: They're trying to stabilize her. Once that happens, they'll have a better grasp of the situation.

Nikki: Oh, dear. Come on, let's give them room to work, come on. Registration gave me these forms to fill out. I'll do the best I can, I guess. Honey.

Nick: It's crazy. I mean, one minute I'm on the phone with her, the next... I don't know, did she, like, faint? Did she fall? Is this a freak accident?

Nikki: It wasn't an accident.

Nick: I thought you said you didn't see it happen.

Nikki: No, I didn'T.

Nick: Well, then how do you know that?

Nikki: The paramedics could tell by the way she was lying on the floor and the location of the wound. They determined she was hit from behind.

Nick: Are you telling me that somebody did this on purpose? Who would want to hurt sharon?

Chelsea: Nick... dear nick... my dearest nick, by the time you read this...

Nick: I don't know, paul. All signs are indicating to foul play. Yeah. Can you put your best guy on this? I don't know, I'm still waiting for an update from the doctor. You know what, I got to go. They're moving her. Hey, hey, hey. What's -- what's going on?

We're gonna take her to get a ct scan.

Nikki: Where are they taking her?

Nick: They're taking her for a ct scan. The doctor wants to rule out a bunch of things like swelling, bleeding... skull fracture?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Listen, don't worry about that. I mean, who can even remember all that medical mumbo-jumbo?

Nick: I think she said brain damage.

Nikki: Well, they always give you the worst-case scenario.

Nick: But, mom, if that's the case, what am I supposed to do? How am I supposed to tell my kids that their mother may never be the same again?

Mariah: You knew juliet was lying about the sexual harassment case and you didn't say anything? Oh, my god. Oh, my god, you screwed over so many people by keeping this to yourself. It would take a week's worth of shows for you to make amends! Cane lost his job. I really, really wouldn't want to be you when the newmans find out about this.

Hilary: [ Sighs ]

Mariah: Wait a second. That's why you wanted me to cover the story.

Hilary: What?

Mariah: Because if the truth came out, it would be my butt on the line. Hilary, I could have been sued for slander!

Hilary: I would have never let it get that far, mariah.

Mariah: [ Scoffs ] Oh, my god, don't make me laugh. If it meant more viewers and social media trending, you would have absolutely thrown me under the bus.

Hilary: It was my decision not to make it the lead story every night.

Mariah: Are you waiting for me to start slow-clapping and singing your praises? You are not the good samaritan here! There was a gag order. You couldn't get your hands on the dirty laundry. There is no scenario where you come off looking good here. The repercussions of your actions are too major, and to top it all off, juliet's accusations almost ruined cane and lily's marriage.

Hilary: [ Scoffs ] Well, he did cheat. Lily deserved to know that.

Mariah: You're not helping your case, and with that attitude, it's no wonder why devon is pissed at you.

Hilary: You know what, he won't be for long.

Mariah: What color is the sky in your world?

Hilary: I mess up, i apologize, he forgives me, okay? It's kind of our thing.

Mariah: Oh, so the show just now, that was just "lights, camera, damage control?"

Hilary: No. I meant every word. That apology, it wasn't just for devon's sake. It was for everyone I've wronged, too, okay? I thought that maybe kicking off the apology tour in this public way, it would... it would make everyone see how sincere I am. And, yes, that footage with juliet, it did force my hand. But I was trying even before that, okay? I was the one that encouraged cane and lily to not give up on each other, and then when sam was born... I helped cane take care of him because that was something that I could do for juliet, and i couldn't make it up to her when she was alive, okay? So all of those things, I didn't do them for brownie points. I did them because they were right things to do.

[ Cellphone vibrates ]

Mariah: Mine. Hey, nick. What?

Hilary: If devon is trying to reach me, I will be at the top of the tower for a while. No, we don't have an appointment. Yes, tessa, I'm sure that devon would call if he was trying to reach me. Can -- can you just do your job, tessa, and pass along the message?

[ Scoffs ] Oh.

Phyllis: What's this for?

Hilary: Dry martini. I thought it would make it a little easier to be seen with the town pariah.

Phyllis: So it's a bribe?

Hilary: A delicious one. I didn't know where we stood.

Phyllis: Well, I took your call. Agreed to meet you, I showed up. If I wanted to end our friendship, I would just ghost you. Delicious. To clarify, I do not think you're despicable. I think what you did was high on the despicable spectrum.

Hilary: Yeah, that seems to be the consensus.

Phyllis: Mm. But from someone who knows all too well about spontaneous moves that implode and who absolutely deplores apologizing, I think what you did was bold. I think it took courage. Did it have the desired effect?

Hilary: Well, it did make me feel better about myself.

Phyllis: Good. Did anybody else weigh in?

Hilary: Nope.

Phyllis: Not even devon?

Hilary: Mm, no. No calls. No texts. No e-mails. No reaction.

Phyllis: Maybe he missed the show.

Hilary: Yeah. Maybe.

Phyllis: Well, I mean you did do his sister wrong, so you can't expect him to get over it in an hour or so. I mean, your performance was spot-on.

Hilary: It wasn't a performance, phyllis.

Phyllis: A bad choice of words, okay? Anyone who was watching that show could see that you were being authentic, okay? And even devon has a heart of stone, he will come around in time. I mean, it might be a very long time, but he will come around.

Hilary: Thank you for keeping it real.

Phyllis: Always. I expect the same from you.

Hilary: Okay, well, enough about my drama. What about yours? What's the latest with chelsea?

Phyllis: No, no, no, no. Don't let billy hear you say her name. I was this close to hammering the final nail in genoa city's premier con artist's coffin. I was gonna shovel the dirt right on her grave. Then we followed up on a lead, and we decided not to bury her after all.

Hilary: Wait, wait. A lead?

Phyllis: Mm, my lips are sealed, and billy has the key.

Hilary: Ugh. Okay, well, you said "we." Who's your partner in crime?

Phyllis: You'll never guess.

Hilary: Billy?

Phyllis: Too obvious.

Hilary: Okay, okay. Victor?

Phyllis: Too obnoxious.

Hilary: All right, I give up.

Phyllis: Sharon. I know. It's absolutely crazy, but we did not kill each other working together.

Hilary: Phyllis...

Phyllis: I know, okay? Look. She still drives me nuts, all right, I understand.

Hilary: Phyllis, sharon is in the hospital.

Phyllis: What are you talking about? I just saw her. She was being her neurotic self. Who told you this?

Hilary: Mariah got a call right after we wrapped.

Phyllis: Did she tell you what happened?

Hilary: Someone attacked sharon.

Mariah: How is she? The doctor said she's getting some sort of scan.

Nick: Yeah, it's a ct scan.

Mariah: Well, how long does that take? I want to see her.

Nick: The doctor will be back soon.

Nikki: Honey, honey, honey. Can I get you some tea, some water, or something?

Mariah: All I want are answers about sharon's condition.

Nikki: Well, I'm afraid those are in short supply right now.

Mariah: What are you talking about? We're in a hospital. That's their job, to get answers.

Nick: Once the scan is complete, then they'll give us an update.

Mariah: That's not good enough. I want to talk to a doctor now.

Nikki: The doctor is with sharon, so you're going to have to be a little patient, honey.

Mariah: Nick said someone hit her on the head and took off. So, when you found her, how bad was it?

Nikki: She wasn't moving. I -- I couldn't get her to wake up. I called 911, they came immediately.

Mariah: Was there blood?

Nikki: Not that I was aware of.

Mariah: Have you talked to her?

Nick: She hasn't woken up yet.

Mariah: She's been out this whole time?

Nick: Yeah. That doesn't mean --

Mariah: What, that she's never gonna wake up again? What am I asking you guys for? You don't really care! You're her ex, and you don't even like her!

Nick: Okay, mariah, come on. We're all concerned.

Mariah: I know, but it is different for me because she is my mother! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Nikki: Oh, honey. Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.

Mariah: I'm really sorry.

Nikki: It's okay. It's okay.

Mariah: You know, I refused to call her that for the longest time -- mom, mother -- like i didn't want to acknowledge it, like she was just some random lady.

Nikki: There were extenuating circumstances.

Mariah: I know, but after the truth came out, I should have... but I was stubborn. I was cruel.

Nikki: Yeah, maybe a little bit. But, believe me, you are your mother's daughter. And no matter what you call her, it's very clear that you love her very much. And sharon knows that.

Nick: Hey, this is mariah. This is sharon's daughter.

Mariah: How is she?

The scan was normal. No signs of additional trauma. But I do suspect she has a diffuse axonal injury. It occurs when the head gets hit hard.

Nick: Is that why she's still unconscious?

She should wake up, but it could anywhere from 20 minutes to 20 hours. Or more.

Mariah: That's the best you can do, a guesstimate?

Nikki: All right, honey, it's okay. Thank you very much for the information, doctor.

Nick: Thank you.

Nikki: Paul!

Paul: Hi.

Nick: Hey. Any news?

Paul: Well, robbery seems like the most likely scenario. My team found the register drawer open and empty.

Mariah: Did they check the security cameras?

Paul: Disabled.

Mariah: That's weird.

Paul: Nick, I need to ask you a few questions.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Nick: Excuse me. Hey, phyllis. Everything okay? I'm kind of in the middle of something here.

Phyllis: That's why I'm calling. I heard about sharon. She was attacked?

Nick: Yeah, it was horrible. I was on the phone with her when it happened. Said she had something important to tell me, and she never got the chance.

Phyllis: Have they identified the perp?

Nick: She's been out cold since it happened. We're waiting for her to wake up so she can fill in the blanks.

Phyllis: Do they have any leads?

Nick: No, but the police seem to think it was a robbery. The register was emptied clean.

Phyllis: Poor sharon. How are you doing? This can't be easy, to see her in that condition. Is your better half there to hold your hand?

Nick: No, chelsea has a deadline, so she went back to the office. I didn't want to call her until I had more information. But mom and mariah are here.

Phyllis: Good. Good. Well, you give me a call if there's anything you need, all right?

Nick: Yeah. Will do.

Phyllis: Robbery my --

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Nikki: Did I mention a pitcher?

Paul: [ Sighs ] Yeah, I think you did. Metal. On the floor next to sharon.

Nikki: No, no. Not next to sharon. It was behind her. Like, maybe the paramedics kicked it out of the way when they got there. Could that be the weapon?

Paul: Possibly. Forensics will dust for prints and check for blood residue. Anything else?

Nikki: Well, actually, yeah, there is. I much prefer talking to you like this than being interrogated by you and your wife over dinner.

Paul: Well... so, life is still rainbows and roses with victor?

Nikki: It's exactly what i signed up for.

[ Pounding on door ]

Phyllis: Open this door, chelsea! I heard you, and I'm not leaving!

[ Pounding continues ] I know what you did to sharon, and you are not gonna get away with it.

Phyllis: When sharon wakes up, she's gonna tell nick everything. Now is your time to step up! It's gonna sound a lot better coming from you than from sharon. He may even forgive you. It's time to end this.

Paul: Let me know when sharon regains consciousness, and I'll question her myself.

Nick: Yeah, you got it.

Paul: All right.

Mariah: Hey, paul.

Paul: Yeah, is there something else I can do for you?

Mariah: Yeah, I just wanted to say thank you. It means a lot to me that you are handling this and that so many people have come together to help my mom. Even people who aren't always on team sharon.

Paul: Nikki would never wish ill will on the mother of her grandchildren.

Mariah: I know. I know. Well, anyway, your next 10 cups of coffee at crimson lights are on me.

Paul: [ Chuckles ]

Mariah: And I might throw in a few pastries if you catch the monster that did this.

Paul: I promise you, we will do our best.

Nikki: Okay, well, I hate to leave, but I better get back to the ranch. Your father's been with the boys a lot longer than we expected. And you -- don't you worry. Your mother is going to be up and perfect very soon. Okay, keep me posted. I can watch the boys anytime you need me to.

Nick: You know what, I may take you up on that. I don't think I can leave here till sharon opens her eyes.

Phyllis: I was on the phone with her, and suddenly, she just stopped talking, and I heard a thud. So I rushed to the door, started banging, and there was no answer. Chelsea suffers from vertigo.

I've known her for years. She never mentioned that before.

Phyllis: It's a recent diagnosis. I don't know, it's bad. That's why I'm worried because I don't know if maybe she was on top of the stairs and she got dizzy and she dropped.

You know, maybe we should call mr. Newman.

Phyllis: He's out of town on business.

[ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Before he left, he just -- he asked me to keep an eye on her, and I let him down, you know? I just -- that's why I just don't know if I'd ever forgive myself if she's on the floor in a mangled mess. I don't know what I would do.

[ Sobbing ] I don't know what I'd do.

All right, all right.

Devon: Do you, uh, have a minute?

Hilary: Yeah. Yeah. Take a seat. I could order you a drink.

Devon: No, I'm okay.

Hilary: So, um, did you see today's episode?

Devon: Yeah, I never miss it.

Hilary: What did you think?

Devon: Well, you made the show about yourself.

Hilary: Well, it is my show.

Devon: Your name is on it, but that doesn't mean that you can use it as a platform to handle your personal problems on or try and manipulate the situation.

Hilary: I was trying to own up to something that I did, that hurt people. I was telling my truth. And it was relatable. Okay? Everyone messes up every now and then.

Devon: Sure, but it was self-indulgent, and that's the overwhelming response that we got from our viewers on our website.

Hilary: That can't be right.

Devon: You can see for yourself, if you'd like.

Hilary: I put myself out there to apologize. I deserve a little credit, not a slap on the wrist. Didn't it mean anything else to you?

Devon: It did. I got that you were in breach of your contract. And I can't let that slide.

Hilary: Are you firing me?

Devon: No, I'm not firing you, but you consider this a warning. Don't do it again.

Hilary: I was trying to make up for what --

Devon: No, you were trying to make this issue magically disappear. That's what you were trying to do.

Hilary: Devon...

Devon: And what you did isn't gonna be forgotten by me or by lily or by cane anytime soon, and I think I speak for everyone in this situation when I say we're not interested in hearing your apologies. So you can stop wasting your time trying to get me to forgive you and just do your job.

Simone: Am I late?

Devon: You're right on time.

Billy: Hey. Johnny and katie's bath time turned into splash time.

Phyllis gonna get away with it, okay? Not on my watch.

Billy: Who?

Phyllis: Chelsea! How many other scheming thieves do you know?

Billy: Off the top of my head? Hold on a second, I thought we were done with this whole vendetta thing.

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] That was before she added assault to her list of crimes.

Billy: Sharon's in the hospital?

Phyllis: Because of chelsea.

Billy: Do you have proof of that, like ms. Newman in the coffeehouse with a blunt object?

Phyllis: My gut said she did it.

Billy: Oh, your gut. Ladies and gentlemen, her gut says so, so off to jail she go.

Phyllis: You want proof? I got your proof right here. When nick said he was on the phone with sharon, she had something important to tell him, like "you're raising your brother's son as your own."

Billy: That's a pretty big leap, phyllis.

Phyllis: What else could it be? Was she letting him know that her muffin delivery arrived?

Billy: Okay.

Phyllis: Chelsea was at that coffeehouse.

Billy: You know that for sure?

Phyllis: According to nick, she was supposed to be at work. I called the studio. She never showed up. She lied. Again. She made a beeline to that coffeehouse instead, and she whacked sharon on the noggin, is what she did.

Billy: Okay, phyllis...

Phyllis: And that's why i wanted to go to the penthouse, so I could confront her face to face, and she could admit everything to me.

Billy: Was she there?

Phyllis: Oh, no, no, no. She pulled her old "if I stand real still, she won't know I'm here" routine. Before you get on your proofy high horse, I heard her drop something near the door.

Billy: So, how long did this standoff go for?

Phyllis: Too long, okay? 'Cause I had to go to plan b and I had to get the super to let me in. But by the time I convinced her to open the door, she was gone.

Mariah: Dr. Know-it-all said that you would wake up. She just didn't know when. So I'm just saying, now would be a good time. Paul is on the case, and whoever did this is going to learn the hard way that you don't want to piss off the ex-daughter-in-law of the chief of police. Nick's been here the whole time. And even nikki has your back. She's the one who called for help. She was trying to keep me from freaking out. Trying to get me to get a grip on things. Just like you. When you got hurt, it was the first time I really thought about...our connection. The fact that I'm a part of you. And it's taken us so long to get to this point. It took me a long time to... call you something other than sharon. And nikki says it doesn't matter what I call you... that you know that I love you. Mom. I'm cynical. And I am the world's biggest skeptic. I need to see something to believe it, so that's why i really need you to wake up. So I can be sure that you know, so I can tell you.

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Victor: Had you been in the coffeehouse any sooner, you might have been in the hospital, as well.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] I know. My guardian angel is watching over me. Well, the boys look like they're having fun.

Victor: They're having great fun. I have everything under control. Besides, they are so curious right now, their minds are like sponges. Having said that...

Nikki: Yes?

Victor: You're taking over now.

Nikki: Go ahead. I've got it. Hello, my loves! It's bed time.

Billy: Why is it so important to find chelsea? Why don't you just tell nick about your gut feeling and walk away?

Phyllis: No. The words have to come out of chelsea's mouth. That's the only way nick is gonna believe she's guilty. I mean, he thinks sharon was robbed, for crying out loud.

Billy: Well, that is plausible, isn't it?

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] That's what chelsea wants everyone to think. She staged it after clobbering sharon just to keep her quiet! And now the walls are closing in. She's so desperate. Who knows what she's gonna do?

Nick: There's something that's been troubling you. That's why you called me right before this happened. And whatever it is... I'm just glad that you think I'm still someone you can confide in. I don't share that kind of trust with a lot of people. It means a lot to me, you know, it's important. You're a good person, sharon. And a great mother. There's a lot of people who love and care about you, you know? Who need you.

Mariah: What? What's wrong?

Nick: She just squeezed my hand. Yes.

Mariah: Mom? Mom? Can you hear me? Can you --

[ Gasps ]

Sharon: Yeah.

Mariah: Hi!

Sharon: I heard you.

Nick: The doctor's gonna be in here any minute. How are you feeling?

Sharon: My head hurts.

Nick: Do you remember at all what happened, or who did this to you?

[ Doorbell rings ]
