Episode #11344 ~ Chelsea gets the upper hand; Phyllis resorts to extreme measures; Cane and Lily learn of Hilary's deception.

Juliet: I was fired for cause. I made a super-dumb mistake that is costing brash & sassy hundreds of thousands. I would never win a wrongful termination suit.

Hilary: I am talking about sexual harassment. Now, that's a suit that you will win. Slam dunk.

Hilary: And if a supervisor is taking advantage of you...

Devon: So, hilary knew that juliet was lying the entire time.

Noah: I have accepted a position at newman enterprises in the mumbai office.

Sharon: You're moving to india? When?

Noah: Tomorrow.

Chelsea: Is that a yes? Will you marry me? I know a secret. Nick isn't christian's father. Adam is! And I swear to god, if you continue this crusade against me, he's gonna find out the truth, phyllis, and it's gonna be on you.

Phyllis: You're a damn liar. Who makes up something so hideous to slither out of being busted? Saying nick's son isn't his...

Chelsea: It's not a lie. I've known it for a very long time, from adam himself.

Phyllis: That's great. Blame the dead guy. For what, a lie that could be dismantled in about two seconds? All because you don't want me to rat you out for the thief you are? If I go to nick and I tell him about this creepy claim of yours, and I get him to take a cheek swab and it proves that he is christian's dad, your butt will be on the street in about two seconds! He will never forgive you for using his son as a pawn!

Chelsea: I've been keeping this whole thing a secret! I have been protecting nick. And christian. So you are gonna be the person that breaks his heart if you don't back off, and that's gonna be really hard to live with!

Nick: Uh, where did you two disappear to?

Hilary: You know, I have to say, your sister managed to surprise me. Usually, the second I see lily i put my battle armor on, but today, our conversation, it was downright pleasant. And between lily being almost friendly to me and you saying that pretty much any child i have will be a good person... this evening's been a treat. Oh, and my conversation with lily also help me come up with an idea for the hilary hour. Now, I'm thinking that we get a couple who was estranged, who fought their way back to a second chance, who overcame all obstacles, and we have them renew their vows live on my show. Hmm? Talk about feel-good.

Devon: Yeah. You'll have a hard time finding a couple that deserves a second chance more than cane and lily because the obstacles have been put in their way have just been vicious.

Hilary: Hmm.

Nick: Thank you. Do you want to tell me what's going on?

Chelsea: Just phyllis spewing more of her lies and accusations. Talk like that can be dangerous.

Nick: What is wrong with you? When are you gonna let this go?

Billy: Aren't you the life of the party?

Cane: Hey.

Devon: Hey. I know it's early, guys.

Lily: That's okay. Do you want some coffee?

Devon: No, I'm okay, thank you. Um, I just came here to give this to you. There's a video on that that you need to watch, and it's not gonna be easy to see, but i think that it's gonna give you some closure.

Lily: Uh, you're scaring me. What's on here?

Devon: It's hilary talking to juliet, and call me if you need to talk to me after you watch it.

Nick: [ Shivers ] You okay?

Sharon: My son is on a plane to mumbai. I don't know what I am.

Nick: [ Sighs ] It was a mistake. We never should have let him go.

Sharon: We couldn't have stopped him even if we tried. He's a grown man. And, besides, I don't know that I would have wanted to. I'm gonna miss him, but maybe this is what he needed -- change of scenery, new challenge...

Nick: Yeah, well, working at newman in another country is still working at newman. I mean, last night he tells us he's leaving, then he's on a flight 12 hours later? He needed to take some time to really think about this.

Sharon: Says the man who let chelsea talk him into eloping.

Nick: Oh, come on, it's not the same at all, sharon. This is the next natural step for us.

Sharon: Well, answer me this. Would marriage even be on the table if chelsea hadn't pushed for it?

Hilary: Chelsea. Hello.

Chelsea: Oh! I -- I didn't even see you there.

Hilary: I was just thinking about you. I would love to have you on

the hilary hour, give you a chance to address those rumors that you were behind the fraudulent chelsea 2.0 site.

Chelsea: You peddle fake news now? Because those rumors are a joke.

Hilary: Well, not according to phyllis.

Chelsea: Well, phyllis was confused and misinformed on a bunch of issues. But she's seen the light now. You should call her, see for yourself. I bet you anything she will admit she has been way off-base.

Phyllis: I'm just so angry at chelsea. I didn't sleep at all last night, and I like my sleep. But she is just lying. Conniving.

Billy: Well, it's a heck of a claim and very serious if it's true.

Phyllis: It's not true. She knew exactly what she was doing when she made up that whopper, saying christian is adam's son. She knew it would shut me down. Nick is that kid's father. I don't have any doubt in my mind.

Billy: Then why didn't you say something to nick last night?

Phyllis: Because I was stunned, speechless.

Billy: Phyllis, you're never speechless.

Phyllis: Well, there's a first time for everything.

Billy: Okay, so, for a second, you don't believe that maybe just sage and adam...?

Phyllis: No, I don'T. You know why? Because chelsea said to me that she heard it from adam.

Billy: I don't follow.

Phyllis: Okay, adam would love to stick it to nick.

Sorry, bro, that's my kid, not yours, tough luck. So, no, it's not true. And chelsea miscalculated. Even though I didn't go to nick last night, I don't plan on keeping quiet.

Billy: So, what is your game plan, then?

Phyllis: First, I cover my bases, and then I pounce. Oh, manatees. Aka "the sea cow."

Nick: I mean, really? Pictures of our wedding day? Is this some kind of hint you don't want me to marry chelsea because you saw me first? I mean, I like you as a friend...

Sharon: [ Raspberries ] Give me this. You see, this is what a real wedding looks like. It's family, love, friends, a community that supports you and your bride. If you two run off to parts unknown, who's gonna be throwing the rose petals then?

Nick: Yeah, I hear you, but is this about you wanting a front-row seat to my wedding or you not wanting me to marry chelsea?

Sharon: I just think it's strange that phyllis starts asking questions about fraud, and then chelsea's reaction to it is to force you two to elope.

Nick: So you think she's rushing me to the altar so i can't testify against her?

Sharon: Mm, that's not what I'm saying, but... why fast-track the wedding?

Nick: I don't know. Why does anyone get married when they do? Because they want to.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Okay, so, none of this is setting off any alarm bells for you? The money you found behind a wall, a fake website, and now a race to get married?

Nick: Those three things have nothing to do with this, all right? Chelsea talked to me about the website thing. I'm not gonna go into details, but she was not behind it. All right? And, frankly, I feel terrible that I ever even doubted her. And you should, too! You and chelsea were friends. But you and phyllis? I mean, why would you buy all her conspiracy theories? You know how her mind works.

Sharon: I do. And it's not as though I feel good saying these things about chelsea, but... she used to be friend, okay.

Nick: All right, so, does this mean you're gonna back off? Maybe get us an elopement gift?

Sharon: Nope. That is where I draw the line, nick. Meet me halfway on this marriage date issue. You know I'm right.

Jack: Nice to see you ladies. I hope I'm not interrupting.

Nick: No, we were just having a little chat.

Jack: Was it about that ring on your finger? Are congratulations maybe in order?

Hilary: Oh, wow, yeah, that is huge. Well, phyllis must be very wrong if nick popped the question.

Chelsea: Nick and I are both very excited, yeah.

Jack: What was phyllis wrong about?

Chelsea: It's a long story, it doesn't matter. It was just phyllis being phyllis. Anyway, I have to go, but it was great to see you, jack. Hilary.

Jack: Okay, well, at least i can count on you to tell me what phyllis said.

[ Cellphone vibrates ]

Jack: What?

Hilary: Uh, excuse me. Hello, this is hilary. Yes. Oh. Okay, um.. okay, yeah, no, I understand. I understand. But maybe to be sure, I could -- yes. Of course. No, yeah... okay. Thank you. Thank for you calling.

Jack: Hey. Not the news you were hoping for?

Hilary: Um, that was the clinic. My iui didn't take, so I'm not pregnant. It's fine.

Billy: Look, I get it, chelsea's running around and she's making noise, and you want to squash her like a bug, but I'm asking you, respectfully, don't do that.

Phyllis: Really? Why not?

Billy: Because nick is the one that's gonna get hurt in the rumble.

Phyllis: Nick is tough. He's fine, and when he finds out that's been a lying witch, he'll move on, okay? He doesn't even love her, I'm sure. I mean, it's like this double-rebound romance.

Billy: Hold on a second, that is not your call, and second of all, I'm not talking about chelsea. I'm talking about christian. Nick loves that little boy. It's the son that he got back after he thought was dead.

Phyllis: Exactly. His son. Who he has back now.

Billy: Yeah, so if you force chelsea's hand and this whole christian's father thing does come up, what do you think nick's gonna do? He's gonna be worried, at least enough to get a test. And for those days, that misery is going to feel like a lifetime for him.

Phyllis: Nick has people who love him, would get him through it.

Billy: Okay, let's just say that the tests come back and christian isn't nick's son.

Phyllis: That won't happen.

Billy: Phyllis, it's gonna tear his world apart. And that, my love, is gonna end up on your shoulders. There's no sage, there's no adam. The only one that's gonna get hurt in this is nick. Don't continue this fight because of your ego, please. Just let it go. Let nick be.

Lily: [ Scoffs ] I knew that you didn't harass juliet, but to hear her actually say it? And hilary turning it into something it wasn'T.

Cane: This must have been made before juliet even thought of accusing me.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Cane: And everything just spins out of control before you know it. She lost her job, she ends up alone and pregnant with no one to lean on, and hilary just... gets inside her head. The sad thing for me is that this could be the only video of her that's out there, you know, and sam doesn't know her. I mean, sure, he'll see a picture of her one day, but he won't hear her voice. I just wish there was something with her laughing or just being herself. Something where he could hear how she talked about him, how much she loved him, something i could give him one day.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Look, I know that your first thought goes to sam because you're a good father. But let's not forget why devon gave us this. It's proof that not only did juliet lie about what happened in tokyo, but hilary knew from the very beginning.

Hilary: You didn't need to bring me back here and babysit me.

Jack: When you got the call from the doctor's office, you looked a little shell-shocked.

Hilary: Okay, well, now that we're here, why don't we talk about the show, hmm? We could deal with the sponsorships and special episodes.

Jack: Okay, we could do that. Marketing sent some ideas, ways to better use jabot products on

the hilary hour. One of the staffers suggested that we develop a spokesmodel search. What do you think of that? Hilary?

Hilary: No, no. I'm -- I'm fine, I --

[ Sighs ] I can't even blame this on the hormones because I'm not --

Jack: I know it hurts.

Hilary: You know, it was stupid. It was stupid to think that i would -- I would get pregnant the first try.

Jack: There is nothing wrong with being hopeful.

Hilary: Jack, I was delusional! I just assumed that I wanted it so I would get it. I convinced myself that with my force, with my will, I could just make anything happen. But when -- when has that ever been true in my life? I've had to fight for every single good thing, and why would this be any different? It's not fair. Because there are people that are out there, and they get pregnant by accident. And I -- I did everything right, and now I have nothing to show for it. Oh, my god, and I have to start all over again. Ugh!

Jack: Okay, hey, listen.

Hilary: No, no, no, no, no. I'm fine. I'm fine. I -- I'm not -- I'm not gonna fall apart, okay?

[ Sighs ] Maybe this was for the best because I don't think that an anonymous donor was the way to go. And then I met someone who just drove that point straight home, so... you know, maybe this is a sign. Maybe there's only one right way to do this. Someone that you know and you trust and...

Jack: Well, in an ideal world, that makes a lot of sense. But in this real world that we're living in, who fits the bill?

Billy: Lauren got her money back, right?

Phyllis: Okay, what does that have to do with nick's son?

Billy: Because your fight with chelsea is about the fraud. She's got her money back, chelsea's not gonna do it again. So why don't we just leave nick in blissful ignorance?

Phyllis: Okay. Again with the concern. When did you start caring about nick?

Billy: I'm not concerned about nick, I'm concerned about you. You play tough, and whatever you do or say, if it hurts nick, i know you're gonna hate yourself for that.

Phyllis: If I let chelsea hurt nick, knowing I could have done something, I'm gonna hate myself and possibly you, too.

Billy: But you got chelsea right where you want her, right? Her hands are tied.

Phyllis: That woman married adam twice. She plays by her own rules. She's gonna do what she wants, no matter what I know. Including marrying nick. So she needs to be stopped.

Billy: And you're the person to stop her.

Phyllis: Damn right. But I'm not alone. There's one other person who can help me, as much as I hate it. So, if you will excuse me, it is time to assemble the troops. For my constipation,

Lily: It makes me sick to think that I actually forced myself to sit down and have a semi-decent conversation with hilary. I even asked her opinion on whether charlie was taking on too much. And she just told me, oh, you should be so proud of him. I never want to hear my children's names come out of that woman's mouth ever. You know what really makes me upset, is that I actually gave her a compliment on the new format of her show. And she just sat there and took it. I mean, it was almost like she was amused, like how I had not seen what a good, decent person she was before.

Cane: And meanwhile, she coos over sam and she'd find reasons to visit, buying gifts, so i would think that she's changed and I would trust her all over again.

Lily: She had all of us fooled.

Cane: She knew from the start that she trashed my life.

[ Sighs ] She even found juliet her lawyer.

Lily: Well, if there's one thing that we can be sure of, it's that hilary never fails to disappoint.

Jack: Why don't we make a spreadsheet?

Hilary: [ Chuckles ] A spreadsheet?

Jack: We can cross-reference all the things you want to see in half your child's genetic makeup.

Hilary: Okay, well, first and foremost, not a creep.

Jack: Not a creep. That's a good start. I'm sure we can find someone to fit the bill.

Hilary: Oh, no one's a creep on paper, and then you meet them in the bar, and then...

[ Sighs ] It turns out that their resume is nonsense and that they're a sleaze. So, no, I have to at least consider approaching someone that I know.

Jack: Okay, that makes sense. So, what traits are you looking for?

Hilary: Well, obviously ambitious. Girl or boy, my child needs to have drive. Handsome. Strong. And he needs to have a level of decency, but he also needs to be a realist. I want him to know that life isn't easy but, you know, he keeps fighting anyway.

Jack: The way devon does.

Hilary: Yeah, exactly. He doesn't just sit on his billions. He has a purpose, and... I want to be with someone like that.

Jack: Okay, bear with me. I'm just starting with this idea, but...

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Jack: If it isn't someone like devon that you're looking for, what about devon?

Hilary: No. No. I -- I had my shot, okay? We never got there. Kids weren't even on my radar until it was too late.

Jack: Tell me what you mean by too late.

Hilary: Well, um, we're divorced, and now he's dating some singer, simone.

Jack: What if you were to appeal to him just as a donor and not as a mate?

Hilary: Uh...

Jack: Unless it's not a child that you're after but a family with someone you care about.

Hilary: I didn't say anything about romance, jack.

Jack: No, you didn'T. My mistake. But if it's devon you want, and not someone like devon, maybe you should tell him. See where it goes from there.

Nick: Hey.

Chelsea: Hey.

Nick: What are you doing?

Chelsea: Well, I wanted to have this done by the time you got home. But...

Nick: What, are you planning a garage sale?

Chelsea: No. No, I -- I thought we could use some inspiration.

Nick: For a garage sale?

Chelsea: No, silly! For places that we can elope! Look -- hawaii, vegas, aspen, australia... what do you think? Are you feeling a certain pull to a particular place?

Nick: Uh... yeah. I was thinking, like, genoa city, maybe july.

Hilary: Join me?

Devon: You're drinking? What about...?

Hilary: What about is what I wanted to talk to you about. Alone. That's why I asked your staff to give us a moment.

Devon: Well, I'm not thirsty, and I have a hard time thinking there's anything to celebrate right now.

Hilary: Well, that's not true. Because as odd as it may sound, I am raising a glass to me not being pregnant. And all of the opportunities that come along with it.

Devon: What opportunities?

Hilary: Like the chance to say that... I'm a liar. That every time I say that I'm over you, it's a lie. When I say that I moved on, I try so hard to be convincing. But I have to admit it to myself. And, you know, I think that you have been pretending, too. You and mariah -- we all knew that that was not gonna work, and then now with simone... I think about you all the time. When I wake up, before I go to sleep. When I picture the way that my life should be, there you are. And I think you see me in your future, too.

Devon: And what makes you think that?

Hilary: Because we keep finding ourselves in moments like this. Devon, you bought my show, the show that we started together. Don't you think that maybe there's a part of you that wanted to get back to where we were? When things were better. When we were in love? See? So, I think that there is a reason to celebrate tonight because I think that we are both finally ready to try again.

Devon: Like I said, I'm not thirsty.

Hilary: Okay. All right, you're really -- you're gonna make me work for this. All right. That's okay. That's okay because I probably deserve it. But I think that you know that I'm worth it. What we could have, it's worth it. I'm not talking about this business, okay? And I'm not talking about the show. I'm talking about what you and i could have together, what we could create. This is what I want, devon. It's what I've always wanted. With you. And I can see it now, and i just... I hope that you can see it, too. Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong?

[ Sighs ] Lily, this is not a good time.

Lily: You lost something.

Chelsea: We talked about this last night. And now you're just going back on everything we discussed.

Nick: Yeah, but last night was so crazy with noah and the whole mumbai thing.

Chelsea: Okay, so you just made me think you were ready to marry me? All right. Great.

Nick: No, chelsea, come on. I want to marry you. And I'm going to. But there's no ticking clock on this. Let's just chill out a little bit, and we'll plan the whole thing together.

Chelsea: We agreed to elope.

Nick: I know, but I've been thinking about that. You remember how upset faith was when we moved in together without talking to her first. It feels wrong not to include her in this process.

Chelsea: We'll bring her with us. And we'll bring the boys. We'll make it a whole big family vacation. I would love that.

Nick: I know, but noah's still gonna be in mumbai. Summer's still out of town. My mom's gonna want to be there. Vick has to be there.

Chelsea: No, see? No. If we start going down this direction, then it becomes all about guest lists and seating charts. That's exactly what I wanted to avoid. Remember, this is supposed to be fun and exciting and spontaneous.

Nick: I know, and I get it that you want it to be fast, but what I haven't heard is why.

Sharon: Nick and chelsea have already made their decision, and it's not your call to judge.

Phyllis: Of course it is. I judge everything. Including the beard on the guy across the room. And certainly I can judge nick being railroaded into a marriage by a thief.

Sharon: You had your chance to prove she was, but you couldn't do it.

Phyllis: No, but I do have the proof.

Sharon: Well, then why are you talking to me and not the police?

Phyllis: Chelsea's trickier than I gave her credit for. She's tied my hands for now. But there is someone who can untie them.

Sharon: Again, then why are you talking to me?

Phyllis: Because you're that person.

Sharon: What? You need my help?

Phyllis: Yeah, and I have already broken out in hives, okay? Yes, and I'm gonna suck it up and save nick from his nightmare bride.

Sharon: You're too late, phyllis. Nick and chelsea are thinking about eloping.

Phyllis: Okay, okay. All the more reason for you and I to work together, like, right this second because when you hear what chelsea has done now, you're gonna be begging to help me. Today, we're out here with some surprising facts

Hilary: When did you get this? Who gave this to you?

Lily: You knew there was no harassment, but you pushed juliet to lie!

Cane: You hooked her up with an attorney knowing there was no case against me or brash & sassy.

Hilary: I understand that you're upset, okay?

Cane: [ Scoffs ]

Hilary: And you have every reason to be. I would be, too. It's true, okay? What I did was wrong. I'm owning it, all right? But, guys, come on. This is ancient history.

Lily: Are you serious?

Hilary: Look at you guys! You guys are back together, you're stronger than ever. Lily, you didn't really believe that cane was capable of some of the things that juliet claimed, and you were right, and that's why you guys are a couple.

Cane: We almost got a divorce.

Hilary: But you didn'T.

Lily: Wow. You really are soulless, aren't you? Why did you even take that video to begin with?

Hilary: Well, I thought you would want to know what cane was up to behind your back because i would want to know if I were you.

Lily: Really? So you're gonna pretend like you were doing me a favor?

Hilary: No. I knew what I was doing. It wasn't a noble act. But you asked me for footage from L.A., And I sent over a lot more than you bargained for. I sent a thumb drive knowing the damage it would cause, and cane intercepted it.

Lily: The thumb drive that you destroyed before I had a chance to see it. That was on there. So if I had just watched it then...

Hilary: Then you would have known about cane's one-night stand sooner than you did.

Cane: And there was no harassment and victoria wouldn't have lost brash & sassy, my kids wouldn't think I'm some predator. You're acting like this is a lifetime ago.

Hilary: Well, in a way, it was.

Cane: [ Sighs ]

Hilary: Guys, we have all grown and changed so much since then. And you two, you guys are back together, you are happy, with complete transparency. You're raising this baby that you guys love and you care about, and sam is so lucky to have the two of you --

Lily: Do not ever mention his name.

Cane: Your visits with him are done. And you've seen him for the last time.

Hilary: Cane, don't say that.

Cane: No. No.

Hilary: No, I understand that you're upset -- I would be, too -- but we are friends, okay? Lily, she doesn't understand that, but we can talk this through.

Lily: Every thought that you have, everything that you do is vicious and self-serving, and you deserve every awful thing that you have coming to you. You know, you should really check your contract with this slime and see if you can get out of the deal.

Devon: The deal is solid and makes sense. It's not going anywhere.

Lily: Really? So keep your friends close, enemies closer, and sociopaths closest?

[ Scoffs ] You know what, she's your problem now. I don't even want to be in the same room as her.

Nick: What's this?

Chelsea: You asked me what was the rush, for the wedding. You're holding it. That's all the paperwork we need to file in order for me to adopt christian and you to adopt connor. There are documents and notaries and months and months of red tape. If we're married, however, that paperwork goes down by half. If not more. We show a judge a marriage license, we prove that we have a happy, healthy stable home for those kids. We show our commitment to them, our commitment to each other, that's it.

Nick: Look, I know what you're trying to do here. I went through this with cassie. Whether we get married in 3 days or 3 months, no one is gonna contest these adoptions. Adam and sage are gone.

Chelsea: I know that, nick. That's part of my point. Crazy things can happen in life. What if I die? Who's gonna raise connor? Victor?

Nick: That is never gonna happen.

Chelsea: What are you talking about? Life has changed in an instant before. For the both of us. We are in love. We want our family to be together. I want something real and legal, something that no outsider can touch. It just feels very weird to me that I'm trying to rush this, and you're trying to wait. I mean, is something else going on, or...?

Nick: [ Sighs ] What are you talking about?

Chelsea: Well, I -- i proposed to you. What, were just caught off guard, maybe you said yes 'cause you couldn't figure a way to say no?

Nick: Okay, you're overreacting.

Chelsea: Am I?

Nick: Yes.

Chelsea: I don't think I am right now. 'Cause it feels like we're not on the same page.

Nick: Chelsea, we absolutely are.

Chelsea: If we were on the same page, you would want to marry me without hesitation.

Nick: I don't want to rush this. I want to do it right, I want to take some time, but if you don't understand that... I guess we're stuck.

Chelsea: No, we're not because I have a compromise. Just hear me out.

Sharon: This just feels wrong, talking to you about nick and chelsea's private business.

Phyllis: What's wrong is letting this she-wolf get away with her plan.

Sharon: To marry the man she lives with?

Phyllis: You have no idea what she's capable of. Sick, cruel...

Sharon: Oh, and you have a lot of experience with that, don't you?

Phyllis: Okay. When you and nick were having a chat with noah last night, i nailed chelsea with the truth. I can prove that she's behind the phony website, but I told her I will not rat her out if she walks away from nick. Clean break. Simple. Fine. Finito. She said to me that if I do that, nick will find out -- are you ready? -- That adam is christian's real father.

Sharon: What?

Phyllis: Yeah.

Sharon: Christian and adam?

Phyllis: So she says. Okay, you can stop looking like you're gonna throw up. It is a cheap bluff. She would say anything to shut me down. She did a pretty good job, i admit. I was a little off my game, so much that I didn't run up to nick and just bust her right then and there.

Sharon: But you don't know that it's a bluff!

Phyllis: Of course I do!

Sharon: Sage and adam, they spent so much time together, and then there was that whole

gabriel bingham story...

Phyllis: Okay, okay. Let's just -- let's get back on the logic train.

Sharon: Nick and I went to war over sully. It was not until recently that nick could stand to be in the same room with me. But if christian is adam's child... how long has chelsea known?

Phyllis: Known what? It's not true.

Sharon: You can't know that.
