Episode #11342 ~ Victoria plots to get Ashley out of Newman Enterprises; J.T. makes amends; Chelsea stuns Nick.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Victoria: We need to guard our secrets from ashley until we're confident that her loyalties lie with us and not with jack.

Victoria: I know in your heart of hearts that you want ashley back at jabot.

Jack: And you want ashley out of newman.

Victoria: Maybe we could team up.

J.T.: You know, you spent half the night with billy on the dance floor with his arms all around you.

Victoria: How insecure are you?

J.T.: You treat me like -- like an outsider. It's clear you don't trust me.

Victoria: That's not true.

Victor: The entire amount. Take this briefcase and don't ask another question.

Nick: I love you, and i believe you. I know we're gonna be okay.

Chelsea: I love you, too.

Phyllis: I am on to the person who masterminded the theft, and victor's involvement confirms my theory.

J.T.: You've reached the voicemail of J.T. Hellstrom. Leave a message.

Phyllis: J.T., I don't know how many times I have to leave these messages. Are you gonna call me back, or are you gonna keep blowing me off? To be clear, blowing me off is not an option. So call me back.

[ Elevator doors open ]

Victor: What are you doing here? Never mind. I don't care.

Phyllis: You will once you hear me out. I'll keep it short and sweet -- cross my heart. I just want to know about the money you gave lauren.

Victor: Well, why don't you ask her?

Phyllis: Well, I did.

Victor: Huh.

Phyllis: But she had no information because you told her nothing...

Victor: [ Exhales sharply ]

Phyllis: ...Which I know is, quote, "to keep her hands clean," but, you know, I'm not lauren. I don't mind a little dirt on my hands. So, please, tell me what you wouldn't tell her. What are you covering?

Victor: What's your implication -- that I stole the money?

Phyllis: Well, obviously not.

Victor: Good.

Phyllis: But it's clear you know who did.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

Phyllis: So why don't you let me in on the secret?

Victor: Mm.

Victoria: You look like you slept in your car.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] Gcac.

[ Sighs ]

Victoria: You know, you have time to change before the office. It's just a suggestion. I know it offends you when i focus on business, but today is a work day, after all, and I, for one, intend to be on time.

J.T.: Hey. Look, forget about clocking in. We need to talk about last night.

Victoria: I have a meeting.

J.T.: It can wait.

Victoria: No, it can'T.

J.T.: Who's it with?

Victoria: Why does that matter?

J.T.: Because we have things we need to deal with here.

Victoria: Which is why I'm going to the office. You should try it sometime.

J.T.: [ Scoffs ]

Jack: [ Breathing heavily ]

[ Cellphone rings ] Ashley?

Ashley: Is this a bad time?

Jack: No, not at all. Is this about mom? Did you hear from abby?

Ashley: No, it's not about mom or paris. It's, uh, about me. Um...I wanted to apologize.

Jack: About what?

Ashley: Yesterday, when I met your new chemist, I think maybe I was a little... less than gracious.

Jack: Seemed to me you were perfectly polite.

Ashley: Maybe, on the surface, but underneath -- mm, a little shade.

Jack: Okay, maybe a little.

Ashley: Yeah. Well, anyway, it kept me up all night, and I just wanted to say I'm sorry. She's a good hire, jack. She's intelligent and she's knowledgeable and solid. I mean, you know, you've gone your way and I've gone mine, but I think it's time that we stopped letting outsiders get caught in the crossfire.

Jack: Well, thanks. I appreciate that. It's, uh... very adult of you.

Ashley: Yeah, well, um, i kind of expect that from myself. Anyway, you take care, and, uh, we'll talk soon.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Jack. Hi. What a nice surprise.

Jack: Well, I guess there is an upside to running in the cold.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] So, are you in, or are you out?

Jack: Having already spoken to my sister this morning, I am more determined than ever. I am in. So on a chilly genoa city morning in february, it begins. How do you suggest we start getting ashley out of newman?

Victoria: I was hoping you'd be on board, so... I'm one step ahead of you. Oh, manatees. Aka "the sea cow."

Nick: I mean... I don't know. Can you guys more some arms around, get any of this? I mean, it looks to me like they still have some movement in there, so we may need to bundle them up some more. See, the boss things that unless you move like a zombie, then you can't possibly be warm enough.

Chelsea: Oh, that is not true. He's the overly cautious one. I am the free wild spirit.

Nick: How is that a fact? Do connor's boots look like they're too small for him.

Chelsea: I don't know. Are they?

Nick: Who's the free spirit now? That would be me.

Chelsea: Oh-ho-ho, no. It's still me, unless you need a reminder.

Nick: No. No. I had a pretty good refresher last night.

Chelsea: He means we played cars and I won.

Nick: We both won. Hey, you guys, go get some snacks and trucks out of the kitchen. Go ahead.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: There you go!

Chelsea: Yeah! Go get 'em.

Chelsea: Well... nothing like a game of cards to make you feel like everything is back the way it should be.

Nick: You're smiling.

Chelsea: Well, because I'm happy -- happiest I've been in a really long time.

Nick: Well, it's only gonna get better. We got snowball fights and hot chocolate -- this perfect little zombie family.

Chelsea: Our little family. I like the sound of that. You ready?

Nick: Yeah.

Chelsea: All right.

Victor: I'm sorry, but i cannot give you the answers you're looking for.

Phyllis: Can't or won't? Because I find it interesting that you gave lauren cash -- not a check, not a wire transfer. That indicates to me that you got the money directly from the thief, who happened to be toting around a couple hundred "K."

Victor: I thought you'd be smarter than that, phyllis. It was cash because that way no one could trace it back to either fenmore's or newman's, and lauren can use that cash any way she wants to.

Phyllis: Still doesn't explain where you got the money or why you're protecting a criminal. You're a very busy man, a very powerful man, who summoned lauren here, handed her cash, and told her never to speak of it again. Now, that seems pretty invested to me for someone who says that they don't care.

Victor: I'm honoring a friendship and a business relationship. That's all.

Phyllis: It was chelsea, wasn't it? She's the one who stole the money.

Victor: That's a hell of an accusation against someone who was a close friend of yours.

Phyllis: Was it because of nick or connor? Why are you covering for her?

Victor: There's the door. Kindly let yourself out.

J.T.: Morning, ashley.

Ashley: Hi.

J.T.: Hey. Heard you wanted to meet.

Ashley: Yeah.

J.T.: Well, you want to come in my office, or should I come to yours?

Ashley: Here is fine.

J.T.: Is there a security issue I should know about?

Ashley: No. Actually, it's a victoria issue.

J.T.: Well, just to be clear, I know you and she have been butting heads. It's no secret, no matter how much you smile at each other during meetings. But when it comes to this office, I'm head of newman security, that's it, not victoria's significant other.

Ashley: I completely get it. And you're -- you're right. We are butting heads, and i personally want to put an end to it. Whatever your title is, I know that you care about victoria, right? So maybe you could help me make peace with her? What could be wrong with that?

Jack: Very bold.

Victoria: Very.

Jack: And risky.

Victoria: Yes. Well, we can mitigate any and all risk factors.

Jack: But is it believable?

Victoria: I would certainly believe it.

Jack: That ashley left jabot to join newman to spy?

Victoria: That's how it came to me. I was talking to my father about ashley. I said I wouldn't be surprised if she was at newman on your behalf to report back the competition.

Jack: Which we both know is not the case.

Victoria: It was a moment of frustration. But it had the ring of truth. There would have been a time when you would have considered that for real, sending ashley in as a trojan horse.

Jack: And how did victor react to the possibility that ashley is still team jabot?

Victoria: He dismissed it out of hand. My father's excited about ashley being at newman. He doesn't want to taint that. But then I realized the idea is in his head. And that's our window -- to make it look like a reality. it hit home. You were right about everything you said.

Victor: You're surprised?

Noah: In a way. Sometimes I forget that you weren't always where you are now.

Victor: You forget that I was once young, as well, right?

Noah: It's just everything comes to you. It's like you're the sun and everything revolves around you. But it wasn't always that way. You had to make it happen. And the thing is I think that I've always waited for things to come to me. You know, my dad owns a bar. I run it. You have a restaurant. I manage it. But I think it's time for me to take control of my own life and stop getting sucked in to everything that comes my way.

Victor: Have a seat, noah.

Noah: After what happened with tessa, I, uh --

[ Chuckles ] I should have... made some real decisions, you know, but I didn'T. I was just too busy feeling sorry for myself. And then you did what you always do, and you set me straight.

Victor: So, what are you gonna do with all that inspiration?

Noah: I need to make a choice. You know, and you were right. I-I need to start living my life more like you and victoria, less like my father, and I love him. But I can't live my life like him.

Victor: Hmm.

Noah: What's this?

Victor: Something I set aside in case you came to your senses. I'm willing to help you, noah. But first I've got to be convinced that you're ready. Then I will put you through the paces. If you pass that test, the sky is the limit for you.

Victoria: I'm glad that we were able to sort things out.

J.T.: Yeah, well, we're both finding our way, right?

Victoria: But you can't do that again. You can't storm out and not come home like you're teaching me a lesson.

J.T.: That's not how I meant it. It's just everything was -- it was just all wound up in my head. I couldn't think straight. It all just came out wrong, so I-I did it to protect you and to protect us from saying something I'd regret.

Victoria: Okay, but... just that one time, J.T. I'm serious. I was really worried. You didn't call me. You didn't text me. You asked me if I slept last night. Of course I didn't sleep. I was worried about you. I didn't know what happened to you until I saw you at crimson lights this morning. It was such a relief.

J.T.: You didn't look it.

Victoria: I didn't?

J.T.: [ Laughing ] No.

Victoria: That's 'cause i didn't know which J.T. I was gonna be talking to -- the one from last night or this one, the real one.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] I got to -- I got to find a way to keep it together, not --

[ Sighs ] Not let my head get so mixed up. It won't happen again, all right? I promise.

[ Cellphone rings ] Oh.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ]

J.T.: Sorry.

Victoria: It's okay.

J.T.: Oh, it's paul.

Victoria: Oh, take it.

J.T.: Okay. Hey, paul. What's going on? Yeah. I-I'll be right there.

Victoria: What does he need?

J.T.: Well, the, uh -- the bucks are on a winning streak right now, so he's got some hookups for some box seats. Could be kind of exciting. But it's time-sensitive, so i got to go.

Victoria: Yeah. Of course.

J.T.: All right.

Victoria: Maybe you can take reed. You can do some male bonding.

J.T.: Yeah. Look, we are, uh... becoming a family again. It's not easy, but it's worth it. I promise, okay?

Victoria: Yeah.

J.T.: See you later.

Victoria: See you later.

Chelsea: Sorry I can't take your call right now. Leave a message.

Nick: Hey, little man, run upstairs and help christian pick out a movie. Yeah, go ahead! Run! Hey, uh, it's me. Uh, I've got the kids working on a movie. They're gonna be all set up for the night, so just call and let me know when you're on your way home, okay? All right, bye.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Nick: Hey, man.

Noah: Hey, dad. I'm sorry. I should have called first. It just, uh, couldn't wait.

Nick: Oh. It's all good. Everything oka--

Noah: [ Exhales sharply ]

Nick: You're not still upset about me letting tessa rent a place at the rainbow, are you?

Noah: No, no, no. She needed a place to live. You and grandma are doing a good thing. It's -- it's really none of my business, you know? Give -- give it to her for free. Whatever works. I got other things to think about.

Nick: Okay. Is something else going on i should know about?

Noah: Yeah. That's actually why I came to see you. Um...some things have changed. Uh...I've changed. And there's really no going back.

Chelsea: Hey, guys! Noah, are you leaving?

Noah: Uh, yeah. I just came by to extend an invitation -- top of the tower tomorrow night.

Chelsea: What's the occasion?

Nick: Yeah, that's all I got out of him, too. No details, a lot of intrigue.

Noah: Uh, I just have an announcement that I want to make. Want to make sure the whole family's there at the same time.

Nick: Yeah. Kind of feels like this is gonna be a big deal. Do you want to give me a heads up -- at least maybe your mom?

Noah: You're all gonna find out at the same time, all right? I got to go. Lots to do.

Chelsea: Bye.

Noah: Chelsea.

Chelsea: See you later. Is that alarming? A little bit, right?

Nick: Yeah, a little bit.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Nick: But let's not freak out, because we know he's not getting married. He seems to be really over tessa.

Chelsea: All right. Well, I guess we just have to wait for the big announcement.

Nick: Yeah. Did you finish up everything at the office?

Chelsea: Uh, well... technically, I didn't go to the office, actually. Technically, I lied to you about where I went.

Nick: Why is that?

Chelsea: Because you are amazing and handsome and really good with a hammer.

Nick: All true, yes, but i don't think those are any reasons to lie to me.

Chelsea: All the stuff that phyllis said -- I know that that freaked you out, 'cause phyllis did what phyllis does. She makes something out of absolutely nothing. But you were really there for me. You listened and you cared. You believed me. You believed in me. And... that really meant a lot, so... I got you something to say, "thank you."

Nick: Is that a present?

Chelsea: Maybe. Look.

Nick: That is sexy. Very sexy.

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Am I supposed to wear it out in public?

Chelsea: Well, it's kind of like that time you got me that terrible beer mug, remember, but then at the bottom, you'd given me this?

Nick: Yokay. Is there something else at the bottom of the bag?

Chelsea: No. It's -- well, the mug thing is the setup for something more meaningful and something more emotional. Does that make any sense?

Nick: No. You lost me.

Chelsea: Look. Okay. See, that's exactly what I don't want to do -- lose you. Um, this is hard. It's not coming out right. I don't have any practice doing this. Um...

Nick: Hey. Practice at what?

Chelsea: Nicholas newman... I have a very important question to ask you.

Victoria: And how is the expansion of the telecom project?

Ashley: Under budget and... on schedule.

Victoria: Are you sure about that? Because I can allocate some other staff if need be.

Ashley: No, I'm okay with who I have. They're effective at what they do, given the proper guidance.

Victoria: Oh, I'm so glad to hear it. I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off.

Ashley: How are you doing with the new media campaign?

Victoria: It's nothing i haven't done before.

Ashley: Hmm. Sometimes that can make it difficult to keep ideas fresh.

Victoria: Well, it helps when you have your finger on the pulse of the key demographic, which, clearly, I have handled.

Ashley: Great. Okay. Well, I guess that's it. I have a meeting with H.R. Lately I have found their staffing protocol to be a bit lacking, so I'm gonna keep an eye on them.

Victoria: Where are we on the cosmetics firm -- the one that you arranged for us to acquire?

Ashley: Everything's ready for due diligence. Actually, I was gonna send this to compliance, and, uh, gee, i hope there's no hard feelings.

Victoria: Hmm?

Ashley: Well, I was able to close that deal when you hit a roadblock.

Victoria: Oh, no. No, never. I mean, we're all on the same team here.

Ashley: Great! Well, those are my watermarked copies.

Victoria: Well, I'll have compliance take a look at them and anyone else who might need to take a look-see, and I'll have them back to you through the proper channels.

Ashley: Okay. I'll see you, then. Bye-bye.

Victoria: Bye-bye.

Victoria: Hey. Let's meet. Everything's set.

Phyllis: Okay, what happened? What did you find out? Am I right about chelsea or not? Why aren't you answering any of my questions?

J.T.: Well, I would if you'd take a breath and let me talk. Just got back from seeing paul.

Phyllis: And?

J.T.: And I had to call in a huge favor.

Phyllis: And?

J.T.: And I got this.

Phyllis: What's on that?

J.T.: Well, when nick brought the cash into the station to see if it was stolen, they registered all the serial numbers. Now that file is on this. So I crossed it against the cash that, uh, lauren got from victor.

Phyllis: It's a match. Say it's a match. We all know --

J.T.: It's a match.

Phyllis: Son of a -- that's it...

J.T.: Yeah, well

Phyllis: ...Right there!

J.T.: Yeah. Devil's advocate, though, okay? Nick and chelsea spent some of the money, ended up in circulation, and somehow ended up in the money victor handed lauren.

Phyllis: Yeah. Never happened.

J.T.: Well, "never" is my guess, too.

Phyllis: The payoff was so good, I am not gonna hate you for the buildup. I mean, this proves a direct line to chelsea. Small drive, big power. But, you know, the next question is the chain of events -- that chelsea had the money first, victor got it to its rightful owner. That means that victor has the goods on chelsea.

[ Scoffs ]

J.T.: Maybe.

Phyllis: Chelsea -- I'm glad I'm not her right now.

Chelsea: Mm. You don't know what to say.

Nick: It doesn't happen often.

Chelsea: I am full of surprises.

Nick: You certainly are.

Chelsea: Mm.

Nick: I mean, after the last two weeks... I did not see this coming.

Chelsea: Well, the last two weeks are actually why I made this decision. I mean, there was so much tension, all these accusations, and last night I explained --

Nick: Yeah. The phony site... wasn't you. It was jordan.

Chelsea: Right, but the words are not what matter. What matters is you were there for me. You backed me up. You said you believed me.

Nick: Because I do. I know you, chelsea. I may not know every moment, every detail, every thought, but I know you. I want to believe in you. I want to believe in this family, just like you do.

Chelsea: So... is that a yes? Will you marry me?

Victoria: Are you following me, jack?

Jack: I believe I was here first, but fine. Whatever you say.

Victoria: You know, there is something about this place. Ugh. Thankfully, they have heat lamps. Heat lamps. That should be exactly what you need. Those are ashley's watermarked copies of the acquisition proposal. They are private and confidential, for internal circulation only. And yet here the are, right in your hands. I can't imagine how that could have happened.

Jack: This is inside newman information that could somehow benefit jabot?

Victoria: To a degree.

Jack: To a believable degree, I hope.

Victoria: I'm not a fool, jack, but those files outline a very expensive deal for newman enterprises. My father's already signed off on it and given ashley the green light, which means that newman is invested in this project. And you, of all people, have that information now. That watermark signifies that you could have only gotten that information from one person, your sister, who you clearly planted at newman as a spy. My father will have no choice but to fire the traitor.
