Abby: [ Hyperventilating ] I can'T...I can'T...

Zack: Just breathe. Everything's gonna be okay.

Abby: How can you say that? What -- what the hell just happened?

[ Sniffles ]

Zack: Baby, I promise. I'll explain everything.

Abby: Don't "baby" me! That -- that girl back there just said that you were using designdate as a front for a prostitution ring?

Zack: I can't believe scott actually took things this far.

Abby: Oh, my god. Seriously? You're gonna -- you're gonna blame this on scott?

Zack: The guy's had it out for me for I don't know how long, and now he's hurting you by making these wild accusations?

Abby: Okay, then we will just -- we will go back upstairs and we will deal with this right now before everyone thinks the worst.

Zack: You believe that I love you, right? That I would never do anything to hurt you?

Abby: Yeah.

[ Sniffles ]

Zack: Then give me a chance to clear this whole thing up. Come with me.

Tessa: Yeah, but not for long. The cops will go after him. Thanks to you, now everyone knows what a creep this guy really is.

Crystal: I just blew up his entire life.

Tessa: Good!

Crystal: No! I'm afraid of what he's gonna do to me now! Please, tessa, you have to help me get out of here.

Crystal: Tessa...

Tessa: You saw how panicked he was. The guy was full-on freaked. You got him where it hurts.

Tessa: He's not gonna drop everything and double back here. With everyone looking for him, he won't even make it past the lobby. Believe me, the last place that this guy wants to be right now is in the same room as you.

Victor: What in the world happened?

Nikki: That lunatic stabbed me!

Nikki: Her mother! Her mother did this! For all we know, that's the only reason she came here tonight -- so she could do this!

Nikki: To break jack and me up, that's why! You believe whatever you want, but I'm sure that's why she did it!

Victor: Is there a first-aid kit around?

Victoria: I'm calling an ambulance.

Nikki: No, no, no, no, don'T. Don't call an ambulance.

Nikki: Please.

Ashley: Where's my mother?

Sharon: Uh, she must have slipped out.

Ashley: Was she by herself? Was anybody with her?

Noah: I don't -- I haven't seen her since all the commotion started.

Sharon: And since it's died down, it doesn't appear that she's here.

Victor: For heaven's sake, call the police.

Ashley: Don't you dare.

Victor: Why?

Sharon: This isn't what we planned.

Scott: We should have had a backup in place. Crystal in the same room with zack? I mean, I knew there was a potential for disaster, but this?

Sharon: What's the next step?

Scott: We got to track the guy down.

Sharon: Did you see where he went?

Scott: Grabbed abby, took off in the elevator. I tried to stop them, but the doors closed.

Sharon: What do you mean, he grabbed her?

Scott: By the hand. He dragged her in after him.

Sharon: And she wasn't protesting or putting up a fight?

Scott: Put it this way -- it didn't look voluntary. The guy's even more desperate now and more dangerous.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Tessa. Where is crystal now?

Tessa: No clue.

Scott: Tessa, I know she's your sister, but we don't have time for games.

Tessa: I'm not playing around. Look, I'm serious. I have no idea where she is.

Scott: You expect us to believe this? I mean, after everything that's happened to your sister, you wouldn't let her out of your sight.

Tessa: I'll check the ladies room.

Sharon: Tessa. We need you to be honest with us. This is no time for crystal to be wandering around on her own.

Scott: Crystal's life is in jeopardy, and now you've put her in even more danger. Look, I got to go help them.

Scott: If there's any extra officers paul can spare, great. But I'm not waiting around. I mean, the guy framed me for murder. I got to go stop him.

Zack: I know, and I will. I just, I --

Abby: No, okay? No more excuses. I have been very patient, but you need to tell me everything. Who was that girl, and why would she say those things?

Zack: Her name is crystal. She's tessa's sister.

Abby: Wait, wait. Noah's girlfriend, tessa? How do you even know her?

Zack: We go a way's back to my time in chicago. We lived in the same sketchy neighborhood, the crappy go-nowhere existence I was trying to climb out of.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

Ashley: We keep going round and round because you won't answer me.

Victoria: I don't owe you an explanation.

Ashley: You made an ominous statement that the police should talk to my daughter, victoria. You damn well better explain yourself.

Neil: Hey. Hi. Listen, victoria, can you, uh, maybe you can go look after your mother. I'd like to talk to ashley.

Victoria: Have you talked to abby or zack?

Neil: Well, apparently they headed off together during the confusion.

Victoria: What about the girl that went up to the microphone?

Neil: I don't know.

Victoria: Well, has anybody been able to track her down?

Neil: I don't know.

Ashley: Okay, look, you know what? She announced that it was abby's boyfriend that's running a prostitution ring funded by newman.

Neil: Wait, unfounded allegations like these will be fully looked into.

Ashley: I don't need the P.R. Spin. Please just tell me if it's true.

Neil: Ashley, we're not commenting on anything yet. Nothing.

Ashley: And that means it's true.

Neil: No, nothing.

Ashley: You know, well, some people are already assuming that my daughter knew about this.

Victoria: Hey, look, I've only just returned to newman, so I don't know the history, but i will tell you this much. Zack was abby's discovery. He was her first big find for the tech incubator project, and she was running it, and now she's run off with him. Now, I think we should know a few more details before we jump to the wrong conclusions. Don't you agree?

Zack: I finally got it together where I could open a business, a restaurant, thinking that maybe I could offer a hand up to those folks that were looking for a way out of that dead-end life. So I hired tessa and crystal, gave them a chance to make good. And I caught them scamming customers, stealing from the register. Had to fire them both, make a clean cut. I wasn't gonna let anybody drag me down, and that's what they tried to do. So, when I ran into tessa in genoa city, I thought, hey, maybe she finally woke up, decided to make good, you know? She seems to be building a good life for herself. So I made peace, thinking the past was in the past. Only it wasn'T. Suddenly crystal shows up, and she's making these wild claims. I guess just trying to get back at me for before. I don't know. But, of course, blood is thicker than water, and tessa's backing her up on all of it. The resentment they have, i don't know if they're jealous of me, you know, or -- or what. But the way that they carried it around after all these years like a weapon. You know, being from the world you're from, probably can't understand people that act that way. But then again, maybe you can. Seeing the way your sister treated you tonight, steamrolling over you, humiliating you in front of all those people.

Abby: I don't believe a word of this.

Paul: So, nik, are you certain that dina intended to harm you?

Nikki: Absolutely. There is no question about it, paul.

Paul: Can you describe the weapon that, uh, she allegedly used?

Victor: Paul, there's nothing alleged about this slashed wound, okay?

Nikki: It was a knife with a blade. She stabbed me. She's deranged!

Paul: And nobody's found the knife?

Victor: No, not to our knowledge.

Victoria: Paul, I called and asked if you would handle this personally, and we'd appreciate if you could handle this sensitively.

Paul: I hear you. But there's protocol I have to follow.

Nikki: I have to sit down. I feel...

Neil: I think I should call an ambulance, victor.

Victor: No, no, I will have my driver take us to the hospital.

Paul: All right, one more question.

Victor: No, please. This is enough. We're gonna take her to the hospital. And by the way, we're gonna press charges.

Ashley: [ Scoffs ]

Victor: Come on, sweetheart.

Nikki: I just want to sit down.

Neil: Good luck there. Hey, listen, victoria, I'm gonna handle things here, and I'll meet you at the hospital, all right? You okay?

Victoria: Yes, thank you.

Ashley: Okay, paul, I find it very difficult to believe that nikki did not provoke whatever happened. I mean, suddenly my elderly, fragile mother became violent? Really?

Paul: Did you see what happened?

Ashley: No, I did not. But neither did anybody else. So I guess it's nikki's word against dina'S.

Paul: Ash, dina left the scene. It's not a good sign.

Ashley: You know what? It's obvious that nikki's gonna be just fine. I can't say the same thing for my daughter.

Paul: Why? What's going on with abby?

Abby: Where are we going? I-I think you should pull over.

Zack: I need you to hear me out first.

Abby: If what you are saying is true, then -- then why not confront crystal and tessa the way that any person would if they had nothing to hide?

Zack: I'm not hiding anything, abby.

Abby: Okay, then why run away? Huh? If crystal and tessa are lying and you are telling the truth, then why do you need to get me alone somewhere to explain, huh? And yes, scott is obnoxious, but he is a professional. He wouldn't just accuse you of something without good reason.

Zack: Scott has no idea who i am. He doesn't know the first thing about my life. Where I come from, very few people ever escape, and there aren't many paths for the ones that do. When I told you how different we were, how we come from two totally separate worlds and i was ready to walk away... it was because I didn't think you could ever really understand where I come from, why I fought so hard to get out of there, to become the man that I am now with you. So... no, okay? My first business wasn't a restaurant. It was a massage parlor, an escort service, however you want to refer to it. But I did try to help out girls that were from abusive families and dangerous situations that they couldn't get out of or didn't have much else going on for them. I feel good about that. That's why I continued to do it. The girls were happy and protected. And the clients were pleased. It's a multi-billion-dollar industry in some countries, and it's legal and regulated. So, really, I'm just providing a service. There's no sex ring, okay? Nobody's being forced into it or intimidated against their will to stay. That stuff that crystal and scott are saying is just nonsense. They're just trying to bring me down.

Abby: [ Voice breaking ] You lied to me.

[ Sniffles ] You've been using me the whole time.

[ Sniffles ] God, I can't believe I didn't see it.

[ Sniffles ] I trusted you. I-I believed in you. I believed in your talents. I believed in all of it. My -- my father, he liked you. But I don't even know you.

Zack: Of course you do! That's why you fell in love with me! You saw how hard I worked, how much I wanted to succeed! I needed to prove that to you so that I could be worthy of a woman like you.

Abby: Oh, your idea of success makes me sick. Pimping out women? Sex trafficking? And don't even try to tell me it is a harmless service and that people aren't forced into it. That's another lie. I have read those articles where -- where girls are kidnapped and they are drugged and they are threatened with violence if they don't have sex with paying customers. It's the most sordid, horrible thing imaginable.

Zack: I did what I had to do. I won't apologize for it. 'Cause it brought me to you.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Zack: You are everything to me, abby, everything I've ever dreamed of when I was back in that brutal life in chicago. And if you asked... I would throw it all away in a heartbeat for you.

Abby: [ Sniffling, sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Paul: Did abby go willingly?

Noah: No idea. I think scott's the only one who saw her leave.

Neil: Wait a minute. There's still a lot of unknowns here. I mean, we're all just gathering information.

Paul: Abby's boyfriend, a newman business partner, was implicated in a sex ring. Now, I know you want to manage this story, but it --

Neil: Yeah, that's right.

Noah: Neil's right, though. As soon as the rumors start, it's only gonna muddy the waters. I think we can all agree on that. At least until we get the actual story.

Paul: I've cracked down on my officers leaking information. But there were a lot of people here tonight. I can't guarantee that it won't get out. Excuse me. Clearly you did not pay any attention to my warning not to pursue your suspicions on zack.

Sharon: This is not at all what we had planned.

Paul: Which is exactly why i told you to leave it to the police. And why I wanted your sister to remain in protective custody until we got a solid case on this guy. So, where is she now?

Sharon: Uh, we don't know. Crystal took off before anyone had a chance to stop her.

Paul: Sure she did.

Zack: You said you didn't care about my past or where i came from, remember?

Abby: Sure, because you lied about 99% of the facts.

Zack: You said you were just following your heart, and I'm asking you to keep doing that. Forget about my business, okay, and what I had to do to survive. It's no worse than the shady things your father's gotten away with.

Abby: You are unbelievable. And no, that is not a compliment. I am sick to my stomach thinking about what you've pulled me into.

Zack: Abby --

Abby: No, no more excuses, okay? I am through with you, and I am through with designdate!

Zack: No. Sorry. I don't buy it.

Abby: Excuse me?

Zack: I think that somewhere deep down, you knew the truth all along.

Abby: Oh, that is...

Zack: You didn't care.

Abby: ...Insane. That's insane. I wouldn't have given you the time of day if I had known you were involved with something illegal.

Zack: You do realize you're into this up to your neck.

Paul: So, crystal saw a parked car, and based on that, she decided to run away from the safe house. Is that what you're telling me?

Tessa: She was scared, okay? She thought one of zack's people had tracked her down.

Paul: There were trained officers safeguarding your sister 24/7. She could have discussed her concerns with any one of them instead of running off and not telling anyone. Doesn't she know how much more dangerous it is out on the streets?

Sharon: Okay, do you have any questions we can actually answer, or do you just want to take your frustrations out on tessa?

Paul: Until I get a straight answer on crystal's whereabou--

[ Cellphone rings ] It's scott. Where are you?

Scott: I followed zack and abby. They're, uh, they're moving fast, but I reckon they're just a couple miles ahead of me.

Paul: Where is that exactly?

Scott: Heading north out of genoa city, route 37, just past where the interstate splits.

[ Static ]

Paul: W-wait, can you repeat that? You're breaking up. Scott. I'm losing you! Hello?

Sharon: Give me. Scott, hey, it's me.

Scott: Sharon?

Sharon: I don't know if you can hear me. It's a really bad connection.

Scott: I can barely understand you.

Sharon: Scott...be careful, please.

Scott: Sharon!

Sharon: Scott. Scott, I love you. It went dead.

[ Voice breaking ] I don't know if he heard me.

Victoria: If you were to tell me that dina mergeron were capable of something like this, waving around a knife in public?

Victor: I mean, if what they say about that zack fellow is true, that he used designdate as a front for a sex ring, I mean, I don't want to think about the implications.

Victoria: I wonder what's in zack's mind now that abby knows the truth.

Victor: You know what bothers me the most? I thought that fellow was very genuine. I welcomed him.

Victoria: Dad, you were just trying to be supportive of abby. You gave her an opportunity. Don't worry. We're gonna handle this, okay?

Noah: Yeah. Well, vicki can be very persuasive.

Victor: Well, I think it was a very good thing that she persuaded you, because you're gonna do damn well there, you know. You're gonna excel at running that place.

Noah: I better get a handle on things fast. I'm about to get thrown into the thick of it. Kind of like you with this dating app thing.

Victoria: Yes. It's a heck of a way to start my new job as C.O.O.

Jack: Mother stabbed nikki? On purpose? That doesn't make sense!

Ashley: I was there, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, jack.

Jack: You didn't see it for yourself?

Ashley: No. I was listening to that girl announce to the world that abby's boyfriend zack is running a prostitution ring! And then zack disappeared with abby, and mother disappeared.

Jack: And you haven't talked to either of them?

Ashley: Mrs. Martinez said that mother never came home. I was hoping maybe she showed up here.

Jack: This is a nightmare.

Ashley: Do you think it's possible that nikki could have provoked dina somehow? You know, they hate each other.

Jack: Even if they do, she carries a knife with her she's gonna use against someone else?

Ashley: Victor's gonna press charges, jack, so our mother could be arrested.

Jack: Yeah, victor's got bigger problems to deal with right now. Newman's being accused of financing this sex ring. If that's true --

Ashley: If that's true, abby could be in really, really big trouble. I'm gonna try calling her again.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Abby: It's my mom.

Zack: We're not done talking. I don't want any interruptions. Abby. Just think about this. Calm down, okay? Think this through.

Abby: What is there to think about, huh? We're over! I want nothing to do with you!

Zack: Abby --

Abby: No, just leave me alone!

Zack: You're upset. That's understandable. It's a lot to take in, but that doesn't change what we have.

Abby: And what's that, exactly? You had to lie to get me to leave with you! You drive me to the middle of nowhere. Where are we even, huh? What's your plan? Are you gonna hurt me?

Zack: I would never do that. Unintentionally. I have a storage unit here. I need to grab some things. And then I'm gonna disappear.

Abby: Good luck with that.

Zack: Come with me.

Abby: And why would I ever do that?

Zack: Look at how your own family treated you tonight, how they've treated you your whole life. Tonight was supposed to be about you.

Abby: You keep saying that!

Zack: Your successes! Your celebration! But instead they went behind your back and screwed you over, publicly this time! They don't care about you, abby. Nobody will ever care about you the way that I do.

Ashley: Okay, it just keeps ringing. She's not picking up.

Jack: So try again.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Zack: It's your mother again. She can leave a voicemail.

Ashley: Okay, this time it just went straight to voicemail. She must have turned off her phone.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Zack: Get out of the car.

Paul: Damn it.

Sharon: Nothing?

Paul: No, it went straight to voicemail.

Sharon: What about texting?

Paul: I tried that. It didn't go through, either.

Sharon: Yeah, I tried, too. Same problem. Okay, well, um, there's got to be something we can do. Anything.

Paul: Well, I tried tracking scott's phone, but...

Sharon: But what?

Paul: We didn't get a ping.

Sharon: Okay, well, scott's phone is on, and he has any kind of signal at all.

Paul: Well, that's just it. He doesn'T. For scott not to have service, he's got to be following zack out in the middle of nowhere, which means we s instead.

Sharon: Which means all we can do now is wait.

Paul: Right, but he called me, which means that he's willing to let the police handle this now.

Sharon: Yeah. Let's hope you're right. It just worries me what zack would be willing to do now that he's cornered. You know, he -- he killed one of his own girls to setl: Y sh, so much for the hard-working, good-natured exterior the guy cultivated.

Sharon: I wish I'd gone with scott.

[ Sniffles ] Or at least gotten to speak with him on the phone. I-I don't know that he heard me. And what if I never -- I --

Paul: Stop. It's gonna be fine. Like I said, I'm gonna get my people to try and track scott's phone. We will find him, sharon. All right.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone rings ]

Nikki: Jack.

Jack: I just heard about everything. Are you all right?

Nikki: Oh, no serious damage, really.

Jack: Are you at memorial?

Nikki: Yes. They just finished patching me up. The plastic surgeon says there might not be any permanent scars.

Jack: Well, that's some good news. Uh, are you in pain?

Nikki: Well, they shot me up with something, you know, to numb me before putting the stitches in. But once that wears off, I don't know.

Jack: Oh, sweetheart, I'm so sorry.

Nikki: Listen, don't worry about it. I'm gonna be fine. I think I'm still in shock, though. I mean, the fact that your mother was walking around with a knife intending to do me harm, it's scary.

Jack: I just feel terrible. You know, I'm on my way now, okay?

Nikki: No, no, no, no. Don'T. They're about to release me, and victor is here. I've had enough drama for one night.

Jack: Understood.

Nikki: Have you spoken to dina yet? Needless to say, I'm very curious how she plans to defend herself.

Jack: No, I haven't talked to her. I have no idea where she is.

Zack: My goal, my dream, has always been to go legit. When I first came up with designdate --

Abby: God, zack, just save your breath, if -- if that's even your real name.

[ Sniffles ] How did I fall for this? I am so stupid.

Zack: You are not stupid, okay? It's just the way your family makes you feel.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

Zack: And you didn't "fall" for anything. My feelings for you were real, and they still are. I think that you feel the same way, maybe for the first time in your whole life, someone who really, really loves you.

Zack: Someone that would do anything for you. You found what you're looking for. We both did. Why would you give that up? You don't have to. Abby. I love you.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

Zack: I loved you before i even knew you. You're the dream that kept me going, the reason I survived. Just say the word, and I will spend the rest of my life trying to prove that to you. We can have everything we've ever wanted. Come with me.

Scott: She's not going anywhere with you.

Sharon: Scott, it's me. Will you please, please call me back as soon as you get this message? I need to know that you're all right.

Scott: Abby, you okay?

Abby: Yeah. Aah!

Scott: Zack, wait!

Ashley: Abby, it's your mother. Please, please call me back. I'm very worried. Call me back.

Jack: Here. I got something stronger than this if you want.

Ashley: No, I need to keep my head clear.

Jack: I assume it's occurred to you that she took off with this guy right after victor and victoria screwed her over.

Ashley: Abby wouldn't -- why? Just to be defiant?

Jack: She has been known to be impulsive.

Ashley: The night was so bizarre. Anything is possible. I thought zack was the perfect guy. Maybe too perfect.

Paul: A word?

Ashley: Anything? Anything at all about abby?

Paul: We are still working on tracking her down.

Jack: But that's not why you're here, is it?

Paul: I was hoping that dina had shown up.

Ashley: Not yet.

Paul: Have either one of you talked to her since the event?

Jack: We are as mystified as everyone else.

Ashley: Left lots of messages. Nothing.

Jack: I have talked to nikki, though.

Paul: She's okay?

Jack: Treated and released. According to her, she's gonna be just fine.

Paul: Jack, that doesn't change how serious this is, stabbing someone.

Jack: Yeah, I understand.

Paul: I'm not gonna sugarcoat this, jack. What your mother did is a felony. And we have an apb out on her, so when she turns up or when my officers find her, she will be arrested and charged. I will keep you posted, but if either one of you hear from her, I want to know about it.

[ Sighs ]
