Episode # 11200 ~ Victor & Jack clash over Nikki; Gloria has a steamy encounter with Graham; Nick shares a secret with Sharon.

Provided By Suzanne

Sharon: OK. So...what's going on with the Newmans? I know when you're holding back.

Nick: It's just this benefit concert that Dad's pushing on us, you know? I mean, he expects mom to perform. He's got Abby hocking tickets. And I guess he's expecting me and Vick to just drop everything and show up and raise a bunch of money for it, and I just... [Sighs] You know, I-I hate playing this "happy family."

Sharon: Hmm. Nice try.

Nick: What?

Sharon: You're deflecting.

Nick: No, I'm not.

Sharon: Nick, things were off before this benefit was even thought of. In fact, it started when you suddenly insisted on moving faith out of the main house.

Nick: I thought it was time our daughter came home to live with her parents.

Sharon: Really? And that's all there was to it?

Nick: Yep. End of story.

Sharon: Okay. In that case... I guess we're done here.

Nick: Hey, it's nick. Leave me a message after the beep.

[Voicemail beeps]

Chelsea: Hey, nick. It's me. It's Chelsea. Uh, well, duh. You already knew that [Chuckles] 'Cause of caller I.D. Um... I want to do something, and I don't think you're gonna be happy about it, so before I pull the trigger, I thought I'd run it by you. So call me? Soon, if possible. Okay, bye. Ugh...

Jack: What a small world. I was just talking to Nikki. She asked me to meet her here. You seem surprised by that. She didn't tell you? You might be wise to check in with her from time to time.

Victor: You know, jack, I don't need marital advice from you. And furthermore --

Jack: Yeah, yeah. "Stay away from Nikki."

Victor: You got that right.

Jack: Sorry, old boy. No can do. She needs a friend right now.

Victor: She's using you.

Tessa: [Gasps] Oh, hi.

Devon: Hey.

Tessa: [Chuckles] Oh, is that what I think it is?

Devon: [Chuckles] Yes, it is. Are you psyched?

Tessa: I'm so excited!

Devon: Yeah?

Tessa: Sorry, not sorry.

Devon: [Laughs]

Tessa: I am signing a recording contract.

Devon: I'm -- I'm happy that you're excited. I am, too. I think we're gonna make a great team, and I think that the label and streaming service will be an amazing opportunity for the both of us.

Tessa: Being in a real recording studio is something I've dreamt about forever.

Devon: Yeah?

Tessa: And I already have so many songs written. There's a concert going on in my head.

Devon: Good. That's great. I love your enthusiasm. But let's take care of the business part, and then we can focus on creating.

Tessa: All right. Let's do this.

Mariah: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Are you sure you want to sign your life away to this guy?

Cane: You were, uh... you were gone when I got up this morning.

Lily: Yeah. I, um... I couldn't sleep, so I went to go run some errands, thinking it would take my mind off things. But it didn't, so...

Cane: Sweetheart... I hate that I've done this to you, okay, and I just wish I could take it away and make it better. I just -- I can't.

Lily: Yeah, you can't. Because Victoria won't settle.

Cane: No, she won't. And I'm sorry.

Lily: It's not just the lawsuit, cane.

Cane: I know. It's the security footage. I know.

Lily: Juliet spent the night in your hotel room. And you didn't tell me. What else are you hiding from me?

Cane: Everything she said in that deposition is a lie. I did not offer her a job in return for sex. And I just need you to believe me.

Cane: I hate what I have done to you and to our family, and if I've lost your trust, or if you believe what Juliet is accusing me of, it will haunt me forever.

Lily: Cane, I don't think that you sexually harassed Juliet. That's not who you are. I just need time to process the rest of it.

Cane: I understand. And I'll give you the space you need.

Lily: Thank you.

Cane: But I want you to know that I love you, and I love our family. 'Cause you, Mattie, and Charlie, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. And the last thing I want to do, sweetheart, is hurt you or disappoint you. I love you.

Mariah: Have you actually read that contract?

Tessa: No. Not yet.

Mariah: Rookie mistake. I mean, he could've had some big group of lawyers throw in some sketchy fine-print thingies.

"Fine-print thingies"?

Mariah: Yeah. Of the "sketchy fine-print" variety. Like the party of the first agrees to give the party of the second her firstborn child in perpetuity.

Devon: Did you learn that in law school?

Mariah: Yeah. School of the hard knocks, Mr. Corporate bloodsucker. I'm not gonna let you take advantage of my friend.

Tessa: Okay, guys. Chill. I mean, I appreciate the junkyard-dog routine, Mariah, but I trust Devon.

Devon: It's okay. She is just messing with us...

Mariah: Ah, dang it!

Devon: ...Is what she's doing.

Mariah: Busted! Was it "thingies"? I couldn't think of the right word.

Devon: Eh, it was all of it. But you --

[Laughter]

Devon: You actually have a good point.

Tessa: She does?

Mariah: I do?

Devon: Yeah. I should tell you what's in your contract before you just sign it, right?

Tessa: Cool. I am all ears.

Devon: Well, you will be a part of a stable of music-performance artists. And, actually, currently I'm looking for a location to secure so we can all work together, 'cause I want to encourage interaction and mashing together all the talent that we end up having. But after you develop enough material, I will place you with a name producer, and then you'll start working on your demo.

Tessa: That sounds amazing.

Devon: Yeah. And then once those tracks are complete, they will become exclusively available on our streaming service, which is pushed directly to our subscribers. And then your songs will be put on playlist rotations with other established artists, and once they gain traction, we will be able to start booking you some live shows. But in the meantime, you'll be doing radio tours and industry showcases and things like that, so --

Mariah: All right, all right. As Tessa's de facto agent here, I think, when she does go on tour, that she should get a percentage of ticket sales.

Devon: Done. You drive a very hard bargain, ms. Copeland.

Mariah: That was already in the contract, wasn't it?

Devon: Yes, it was already in the contract.

Mariah: Dang it!

Devon: So, basically, I expect you to live and breathe music 24/7 from this point forward. Is that cool?

Tessa: Are you kidding? I mean, that's what I'm doing, anyway.

Devon: [Laughs] Okay.

Tessa: So, after the benefit concert, I'll give Nikki my notice.

Mariah: Whoa. Uh... I don't think that's a very good idea. I'm actually not kidding this time.

Nick: You're kicking me out?

Sharon: I can tell when you're not being honest with me. And that's your choice. I am making my own choice not to waste any more time helping you.

Nick: [Sighs] Dad's in the doghouse again. And he doesn't like being there. But mom is gonna make sure he is accountable for his actions. So we're all kind of, you know, freezing him out.

Sharon: What did he do this time?

Nick: [Sighs] All right, Sharon, I will tell you, but you have to swear to me that you're not gonna tell anyone.

Sharon: I'm the soul of discretion.

Nick: [Sighs] Okay. Dad helped Adam escape from prison.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh. But that was months ago. You want to make him pay for that now?

Nick: We discovered the truth about Adam's death.

Sharon: That it wasn't an accident -- Chloe murdered him.

Nick: If dad had left Adam in prison, then he never would've gone to that cabin.

Sharon: So you're blaming victor for Adam's death.

Nick: Chloe is the one who messed with the propane tank, so that is on her. But dad's hands in this aren't exactly clean. And they rarely are when his schemes don't work out. But he never learns, and he's not gonna listen to us. And we're so tired of covering for him. We can't shun him in public, because that's bad for all of us, so we just have to go on playing this "we're such a big, happy family" game.

Sharon: Gosh. How in the world have you managed to keep this feud a secret?

Nick: It hasn't been easy. But, Sharon, this is best for everyone, for the whole family, and you have to swear to me that you're not gonna tell anyone. And I mean no one.

Gloria: So, are you enjoying your time in Genoa city?

Graham: Well, it's not Paris, that's for sure.

Gloria: [Chuckles] Yeah. Every time you turn around, you run into another Abbott offspring.

Graham: Yeah, that, too. That, too.

Gloria: So, has your relationship with Dina been challenged by jack and Ashley's suspicions? I hear things.

Graham: Jack has nothing better to do when he's socializing with you than to talk about me?

Gloria: Hey, hey. We don't engage in pillow talk, if that's what you're implying. I just work for him at jabot. Not that he wouldn't jump at the chance. Jack's always had a thing for me. But I insist we maintain a strictly professional relationship.

Graham: That's always a good strategy. What do you do there?

Gloria: I am managing director of executive affairs.

Graham: And no pun intended, given what you just told me? "Affairs"?

Gloria: [Chuckles] Oh, yeah. Good one.

Graham: So, Gloria, how much is jack paying you to work me for information?

Jack: What exactly makes you think Nikki is using me?

Victor: She was looking for a shoulder to lean on, jack, and you were available.

Jack: Well, that's funny. I would think the kinder, re-branded victor I've been hearing so much about would be perfect for that role. Or was that just a phase?

Victor: How I conduct my personal affairs is my business, not yours.

Jack: When your wife reaches out to me for support, it becomes mine. And she's under a great deal of pressure right now, particularly after you cajoled her into performing at this benefit.

Victor: And, what, she came to you for you to tell her it's all right to back out of this concert? Is that it?

Jack: No one but you would blame her if she did back out. Look, she's not a professional musician. Think of who she's playing in front of -- the most powerful, wealthiest people in town. Look... [Sighs] She's under a great deal of stress.

Victor: For your information, she is perfectly capable of handling this. She'll do beautifully.

Jack: You're in denial, victor. This concert is doing more harm than good to Nikki.

Victor: She is strong and healthy and eager to perform.

Jack: Once again, you couldn't be more wrong.

Tessa: I just can't believe that one day I could be driving along, and my song could come on the radio.

Devon: [Chuckles] Well, let's get you into the studio, first.

Tessa: Oh, I've never been in a recording studio. I hope I don't mess it up.

Mariah: You won't. You're so talented.

Devon: Well, unfortunately, talent isn't always what it takes in the music business. It's very cutthroat, and very few artists do make it.

Tessa: Well, I guess I won't be putting that down payment on my mansion just let.

[Mariah laughs]

Devon: Well, you will be getting an advance, and it should be enough for you to live off of.

Mariah: What he's saying is don't quit your day job just yet.

Tessa: Well, I don't think Nikki will let me stay there after I'm done working with her, anyway. And it's been great staying there, but it's kind of awkward being waited on hand and foot.

Devon: Well, I just want to make sure that you understand everything that you're signing.

Tessa: You're a stand-up guy. Mariah wouldn't be with you otherwise. And I totally trust her.

Mariah: Well, thank you. But if it doesn't work out, don't sue me.

Tessa: Hey, hey, hey. Why are we missing the positivity here?

[Laughter]

Tessa: I mean, if you're willing to take a shot on me, I'm willing to take a shot on you, Devon. Pen?

Mariah: There you go.

Tessa: All right. One.

Devon: Thank you.

Mariah: Yay!

Devon: Fantastic.

[Laughter]

Mariah: I think we need to mark this momentous occasion by getting an über-expensive bottle of champagne.

[Cell phone buzzes]

Mariah: On the Hamilton-Winters group, of course.

Tessa: Oooh.

Mariah: And let's celebrate!

Tessa: All right!

Mariah: Yeah!

Devon: Oh, boy. Hang on, guys. I don't think I'm gonna be able to celebrate with you.

Mariah: Everything okay?

Devon: I have to go. Uh, I hope so. It's lily.

Mariah: Oh. Well, tell her I said hi. Give her my love.

Devon: I will do that.

Devon: Um... welcome to the company. And I think this is gonna be a very exciting ride for both of us.

Tessa: Yeah.

Devon: This is yours. I'll take mine. Yep.

[Tessa exclaims]

Devon: See ya.

Tessa: Zaaah!

[Both laugh]

Gloria: Jack didn't ask me to spy on you, silly. Which means your secrets are safe with me.

Graham: You think I have secrets?

Gloria: Everybody does. Oh, the stories I could tell you about jabot.

Graham: I'm afraid I can't swap corporate stories with you, Gloria.

Gloria: Oh, come on. Why not? It's just us in this steamy little room.

Graham: I signed a nondisclosure agreement with Dina when she hired me.

Gloria: [Scoffs] Hired you! To do what, exactly?

Graham: Work at Mergeron enterprises.

Gloria: Oh.

Graham: [Chuckles] You thought I was some sort of gigolo, didn't you?

Gloria: Oh, no. Don't be ridiculous. All right, I admit I thought you and Dina had a very warm relationship. [Chuckles] So, do you oversee a certain division at Mergeron?

Graham: I'm the executive V.P. of corporate strategy.

Gloria: Huh.

Graham: Or at least I was, until Dina sold the company. Now I'm not sure where I stand.

Gloria: Mm. So, no immediate plans to go home?

Graham: Home is wherever Dina is. And she needs me here, so I'll go back when she does.

Gloria: Hm. Your loyalty and concern for her is admirable. But a worldly and sophisticated man like you must be suffocating in this town.

Graham: You think I'm worldly and sophisticated?

Gloria: Mm.

Graham: Would it surprise you to learn that I was born and raised in the Midwest?

Gloria: Yeah, it would. [Laughs]

Graham: Well, I was. We weren't rich, but we were happy. At least for a while. I come from a broken home. Which is why it's so upsetting to think that I might be the reason that there's a rift in the Abbott family. I just wish there was some way I could convince jack and Ashley that I have no ulterior motives when it comes to Dina.

Gloria: But can you blame them?

Victor: If I thought Nikki was not up to the task, I would say so.

Jack: Take another look, victor. And once you do, once you see how this is affecting her, you'll realize that canceling this concert is the most supportive thing you could possibly do for her.

Victor: Who the hell do you think you are to tell me how to handle my wife?

Jack: Well, that's just the point. Nikki doesn't need to be "handled." She needs to be heard, supported.

Victor: I have heard her. She performed beautifully. It's wonderful to listen to her. She's giving this concert to be an inspiration to people who suffer from M.S.

Jack: That is your spin, not hers.

Victor: Has it occurred to you, jack, that you may be the cause of her stress for undermining her confidence now?

Jack: I gave Nikki advice. Either she takes it or she doesn't. That's what I call support. That's what seems to be missing in your marriage.

Victor: [Scoffs] In other words, you're saying that she'd rather be with you than with me, is that it?

Jack: I am saying that Nikki and I have always been and will always be very close. That's not going to change. Can you say the same thing about your marriage?

Victor: You stay away from my wife.

Gloria: Must be pretty lonely for you here. Given that jack and Ashley will never greet you with open arms.

Graham: That is a bit frustrating. I've tried. It's hard getting shot down every time.

Gloria: Yeah, tell me about it.

Graham: How's that?

Gloria: I wasn't exactly the best mother to my sons.

Graham: Oh, I don't believe that.

Gloria: No, really. I was absent a lot of the time. I neglected them, and I chose to ignore my abusive husband's personality. So, believe me, I can understand how even grown-up children can hang on to that deep-seated resentment. I feel it every time we're together.

Graham: I could use a friend who's been through the battles I'm facing.

Gloria: You got one.

[Both chuckle]

Nick: It's been killing me keeping this from Chelsea. But Mom insisted. [Sighs] But if she finds out that I told you this...

Sharon: I won't say a word. Trust me, the last thing I need is Nikki coming after me.

Nick: But I'm the one who spilled the secret.

Sharon: Still, she'll find a way to make it my fault.

Nick: That's actually true. She would.

Sharon: You know, I've seen you and Chelsea together lately, and it looks like things are getting pretty serious. So, you know, you deserve to be happy, nick. Don't let this thing with victor rob you of that.

Nick: [Sighs]

Sharon: And that's the last bit of advice that you didn't ask for that I'm gonna give you today. Your relationship with Chelsea is none of my business.

Nick: No, but you're right. It's time to tell Chelsea everything.

Dina: Neil, don't hesitate. It won't be on the market long. Mmph. [Sighs disgustedly]

Jack: Something wrong?

Dina: Well, it's not about graham, if that's what you're thinking.

Jack: I deserve that.

Dina: No, I was recommending a company to Neil, and he gave me that, "oh, I'll take it under consideration," line.

Jack: Well, we both know what that means.

Dina: Yes, that he doesn't value my opinion.

Jack: Well, perhaps the company you're recommending doesn't align with their mission statement.

Dina: [Scoffs] Making a profit is the only mission statement I've ever needed.

Jack: Neil and Devon want to use their company to help women- and minority-owned businesses. Try to keep that in mind the next time you pitch something to them.

Dina: I know you're right, jack. Thank you.

Jack: Every once in a while, I come up with a good idea.

Dina: [Chuckles] Well, stop being so modest. You know, I've kept an eye on your career.

Jack: Have you?

Dina: Oh, yes. You have taken jabot to heights that john could never have imagined.

Jack: I often wonder how dad would feel if he saw the company now.

Dina: John would have been so very proud of all your accomplishments.

Jack: He was a wonderful mentor, dad.

Dina: Mm-hmm.

Jack: Patient, understanding. Even when I was more interested in the jabot models than I was in the bottom line.

Dina: [Laughs] Well, I always knew that you would grow out of you playboy ways and become a responsible, successful businessman.

Jack: If you knew that, why didn't you reach out to me? Ask my opinion? I could've been a real asset to Mergeron, as well.

Dina: Would you have taken my call?

Jack: I don't know. I do know that, rather than turn to me, you relied on strangers. Like graham. You still rely on him.

Dina: I don't rely on anybody. I make my own decisions. Like selling my company and staying on in Genoa city.

Jack: Okay. Okay. Mother. Mother, okay. As long as you've decided to stay here indefinitely, I thought I'd offer an invitation. Nikki Newman is playing piano at a concert benefiting research for M.S.

Dina: Oh.

Jack: I was hoping you might be my date.

Dina: [Laughs] I would love to be your date.

Jack: Uh, one condition. A date with me means just the two of us.

Dina: I'll give graham the night off, hm?

Graham: Hello, jack.

Jack: Graham.

Dina: Oh, darling, jack just invited me to a piano concert.

Graham: Mm.

Jack: Unfortunately, the concert is sold out, so, uh...

Graham: So it'll just be the two of you? I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Dina: Thank you.

Gloria: Oh, my! Looks like a party. Mind if I join in?

Victor: Chelsea. Have a seat.

Chelsea: Thank you for offering to meet with me.

Victor: You don't ever have to make an appointment. Come in whenever you want.

Chelsea: I wanted to rack your brain about Chelsea 2.0. I'm thinking about taking the company in a different direction.

Victor: Go on.

Chelsea: Well, my goal has always been to design affordable clothes for the working woman. But I use high-quality fabrics and workmanship, which means that I have to charge higher prices. As of late, it seems that the consumer would rather buy ultra-cheap knock-offs of the most recent trends than invest the money in clothes that are gonna last for years. I mean, I still want to create my own designs, but...

Victor: So, are you thinking of cutting corners? Do you need an infusion of cash?

Chelsea: Uh, no. No. Your generous gift was enough. It was more than enough. I'm just wondering if, in the long run, it would be cost-effective for me to change my business model.

Victor: If your name becomes associated with a cheaply-, poorly-made product, your brand's reputation will suffer, and it'll take a long time to change that perception. It'll haunt you. Does that make sense to you?

Chelsea: Yeah. Okay. Well, you've given me a lot to think about.

Victor: You're on the verge of becoming a damn good businesswoman.

Chelsea: I appreciate that.

Victor: And you're good for my son Nicholas. And for Connor. And I'm happy that you're part of my family.

Tessa: We'll have to have movie night at my new place. Well, when I have a place of my own, that is.

Mariah: Well, meanwhile, you can hang here any time you like.

Tessa: Oh.

Mariah: Oh, wait. Yep. Do you see it?

Tessa: No. No!

Mariah: It's happening!

Tessa: No! Ugh!

Mariah: Oh, yup! They're kissing!

Tessa: No, she's a -- no, no! Boo!

Mariah: Gave him the puppy-dog eyes. Booo! Down with love.

Sharon: What is going on in here?

Mariah: What?

Sharon: I can hear you guys from outside.

Tessa: Oh.

Mariah: Oh. Sorry. Well, blame it on this super-cheesy-yet-addicting rom-com that we're watching.

Tessa: So bad, so good.

Mariah: So bad.

Sharon: Hey, that is a very expensive bottle of champagne you've opened there. Looks like someone's getting used to some of the finer things in life.

Mariah: Well, I am dating a millionaire. [Laughs]

Tessa: I, uh, think she meant me.

Mariah: Well, Tessa's gonna be drowning in the stuff soon.

Sharon: Oh? Why's that?

Mariah: [Sighs] Someone very important to me asked her to make a lifelong commitment, and she said yes. [Giggles]

Sharon: He -- he didn't.

Mariah: Yes, he did. He did. Show her. Show her.

Tessa: Oh. I signed a contract with Devon's music label.

Sharon: Oh, wait. A contract. That's fantastic!

Tessa: Thanks. I think I'm gonna bounce. Just work on some lyrics.

Mariah: Ahh, the movie inspired you to write a sappy love song about Noah. [Smooching]

[Cane breathing hard]

Hilary: Hey. Cane, wait. Please!

Cane: What do you want?

Hilary: I wanted to check in. How did things go at the deposition?

Cane: Really? You think I would tell you, huh?

Hilary: I'm not asking as the host of "the Hilary hour," okay? I'm asking because we used to be family, cane.

Cane: Oh, please.

Hilary: I'm concerned.

Cane: Oh, really? So after everything you've done to lily and my family, now you're concerned, huh?

Devon: And what else is cane keeping from you?

Lily: Nothing.

Devon: Are you sure?

Lily: He didn't sexually harass Juliet.

Devon: Then why did she name him in the lawsuit?

Lily: Because he's an easy target. It was just them in Japan. It's "he said/she said."

Devon: Okay. Why was she fired?

Lily: There was some behind-the-scenes footage from the commercial that aired on Hilary's show that shouldn't have. But Juliet's firing was justified. It was her job to get clearance, and she didn't. So after Victoria let her go, she was hurt and angry and wanted a payout. So that's why she sued.

Devon: I mean, I buy that. But it's...

Lily: But what?

Devon: Cane said he was pretty drunk that night, right? I mean, I don't think that he sexually harassed anyone, but do you think that it's possible he had sex with Juliet?

Hilary: You really need to ease off, because I'm not the one who got drunk and had sex with Juliet, okay? So how about you man up, take some responsibility, and stop blaming everything on me.

Cane: You are the reason that Juliet is lying about this, because you saw an opportunity to cause trouble between lily and me, and you took it. But you have no idea how many people you're hurting with this, and you will continue to hurt when this goes to trial.

Hilary: Trial? I thought that Victoria would settle. You didn't admit that you slept with Juliet. You lied at the deposition, didn't you?

Cane: I am warning you to stay out of this, 'cause I will not let you destroy lily and my family.

Lily: Do you have any idea how painful it was to tell Mattie and Charlie about the lawsuit? They could see the toll it was taking on cane, and they adore him.

Devon: Yeah, I'm sure. But, I mean, what about the, uh -- what about the toll it's taking on you?

Lily: [Scoffs] Cane makes me feel safe, you know? He makes me laugh. But most importantly, he makes me feel loved. I know he would never, ever deliberately hurt me.

Devon: He has in the past.

Lily: Yeah, but I've done the same to him. And he forgave me. And we're stronger because of it. We made a vow to have each other's backs. And now it's my turn to have his. And what that means is believing and trusting in my husband. So...no. I don't think that he had sex with Juliet.

Jack: What more were you able to learn about our friend graham?

Gloria: And why do you think we were together?

Jack: Because you showed up at the same time, both of you with wet hair.

Gloria: And so you automatically assumed I'd agreed to be Natasha to your Boris, and I seduced graham.

Jack: In a word, yes. And bravo. You took care of your mission in very short time.

Gloria: Mm-hmm. Well, I'm afraid that my tęte-ŕ-tęte with graham was completely innocent. We ran into each other at the spa. Just a coincidence.

Jack: I don't believe in coincidences, especially when you're involved.

Gloria: [Sighs] Fine. I was getting ready to leave when he walked in, and maybe, just maybe, I decided to stick around for a little while.

Jack: There! I knew you were a team player.

Gloria: You know, helping you may have been the reason I decided to stay, but getting to know graham better kept me there. He is a very interesting man, and he looks fantastic in a towel -- a very small towel.

Jack: Oh, please, stop. Stop. Just give me the details that relate to my mother.

Gloria: Oh, yes. Of course. Mother. Graham is here for the long run. He has no plans to go back to Paris without Dina.

Jack: Until he can get his money from her.

Gloria: You know, I honestly don't think so, jack. From what I can tell, he genuinely likes and cares about her. He is a very kind and sympathetic man.

Jack: I can't believe it. He got to you! The same way he got to my mother. My gosh. He's fooled both of you!

Tessa: Sorry, but there's no way I'm writing a ballad about your brother. Sappy love songs aren't really my thing.

Mariah: All right. I understand. Nothing really rhymes with "Noah," anyway.

Sharon: So, uh... how are things up at the main house?

Tessa: Uh, I just try to stay out of the way. Especially when Mr. Newman's around.

Mariah: She's probably moving out soon.

Sharon: Really? Why?

Tessa: Nikki's the most generous person I know. I'm just not used to people wanting to help me. I'm used to making my own way.

Sharon: But it's okay if someone lends you a hand once in a while. I mean, I can't imagine where I would be if people hadn't been there for me.

Tessa: I appreciate Nikki more than anything. I just don't want to take advantage beyond my job with her.

Sharon: I don't think that's how Nikki sees it. But I know where you're coming from. I'm actually in a similar situation.

Tessa: You are?

Sharon: Yeah, that's why I decided to go back to school. You know, I-I never finished my degree, felt like I missed out on something, and now I'm rectifying that.

Mariah: I'm so proud of her.

[Sharon chuckles]

Mariah: You should see her pulling all-nighters.

Tessa: Now, that I would like to see.

Sharon: You know, I really do believe people can reinvent themselves. You just need someone who believes in you.

Mariah: Oh, Devon really believes in Tessa's talent.

Sharon: Can't get a better endorsement than that.

Tessa: I just don't want to let him down.

Sharon: If you believe in yourself, you won't.

Nick: I'm sorry I didn't call you back.

Chelsea: Oh, it's fine.

Nick: Well, on your message, you said you were about to pull the trigger on something. Did you do it?

Chelsea: I did. But I waited for you as long as I could.

Nick: No, it's all right. Everything work out?

Chelsea: Yep.

Nick: Okay. Are you gonna tell me about it, or...?

Chelsea: Okay, I don't want to upset you, but I don't want you to feel like I went behind your back, either, so I'm just gonna be honest. I went to see your dad.

Nick: Why?

Chelsea: For advice. About my company. I mean, he's a really great resource, nick, and I appreciate the fact that he really listens to me, and -- and he respects me. He even said I could come see him any time, and that he almost considers me like family. You're not talking. Are you mad? You're mad.

Nick: No. No, I'm not mad, all right? And I'm glad you told me. In fact, there's something that I need to tell you. I'm just worried that it might change the way you feel about us.

Hilary: You really need to

Hilary: Hi, Juliet. Um, I heard about the deposition. Sounds like cane dug himself quite a hole. I know that the last time we spoke, I was a little less than enthusiastic about helping you, but that's changed. You have my full support now. I will do anything I can. Call me back so we can talk specifics.

Cane: Hey.

Devon: Lily and I were just catching up.

Lily: Um, I have to call the stylist for my shoot tomorrow.

Devon: Okay.

Lily: Thank you for coming by.

Devon: Yeah. Of course. Be good.

Lily: Love you.

Devon: Love you, too.

Lily: Hi.

Cane: Hey.

Devon: So, obviously, you, uh -- you didn't take my advice and come clean with my sister before the deposition.

Cane: All right, listen.

Devon: No, no, no. No, just -- just you hear me when I say to you that, if it turns out that you're lying about what really happened in Tokyo, you and I are gonna have a serious problem. All right?

Gloria: I'm not under any sort of spell, jack. It's just that after talking to graham for a while, I walked away with a different perspective.

Jack: Well, keep talking to him, and doing whatever else you have to do to learn more about graham Bloodworth. I know how persuasive you can be. [Whispers] And how flexible.

Gloria: [Sighs] Spare me the sweet talk, jack. I'm usually the first one to sign up for these shenanigans, but not this time. 'Cause I just don't think there's a story there. Graham is not the faithless, shallow money-grubber you're making him out to be.

Jack: If anyone could spot one of those, it's you.

Gloria: Yeah. I admit, I got a couple of exes who match that description to a "t," which is why I know graham is different. If you want to get him away from your mommy, you're just gonna have to find another way to do it.

Jack: With your help?

Gloria: Hate to burst your bubble, jack. But no. If I decide to cultivate a friendship with graham, it'll be my choice. Not because you tell me to.

Victor: Nikki? Nikki! [Thinking] "Victor, I'll be back in a few days. I need to clear my head. Nikki."

Nick: Listen, I want this relationship to be as uncomplicated as it can be. And that's not always possible because of my family. But I promise you, Chelsea, that I'm gonna shield and protect you from anything else that will hurt you. Because you've lost so much this past year. And I don't want you to lose anything else because of...

Chelsea: Nick... what are you trying to tell me?

Nick: Chelsea, I love you. And I'm sorry if that seems scary, or if it's too fast and it makes you want to bail, but I love you.

Chelsea: No, it... doesn't make me want to bail. I'm not going anywhere. I love you, too.

Next on "The Young and The Restless" --

Nick: What happened?

Victoria: I found out that Cane's been lying to me the whole time.

Cane: She doesn't think I would dangle a job in front of a woman in return for sexual favors.

Colin: Because you wouldn't.

Jill: Cane is the last man around here who'd ever be mistaken for a sexual predator.

Billy: Wow. Thanks for that.
