Episode # 11190 ~ Victor offers Ashley sound advice; Kevin searches for Chloe; Nikki questions Tessa's loyalty.

Provided By Suzanne

Victor: All right. What's on your mind?

Scott: I think it's time for a change.

Victor: I agree with you.

Scott: You do?

Victor: Yeah.

Scott: Good, good. Then we can speak honestly.

Victor: Always.

Scott: You asked me to, uh, write up an offer for the digital media company you wanted to acquire. I had that for you the next day. But since then, I haven't heard a word. Which makes me think you weren't serious about buying it or letting me be involved in the operation. Were you just giving me busywork? Were you dangling a carrot in front of me to keep me around? Look, I will be eternally grateful to you for paying my ransom. I know I offered you six more months, but...I can't. It's just -- it's not working. So... I'm out.

Victor: Hmm. [Inhales deeply] Give me Taylor Allen from hashtag. Seems I need to rescind my offer to buy the company.

Scott: That's the outlet I recommended.

Victor: Yeah. I was gonna put you in charge, but now you're out.

Scott: O-okay. Uh...let's just -- just back it up a little bit. I mean, I-I -- you know, I think I put my foot in my mouth, here.

Victor: It's stuck so tight, you're gonna choke on it.

Chloe: Wow. Thanks, doc. That was delish.

Dr. Harris: You're welcome. And since you've been so cooperative, you get to pick the movie tonight. Chloe, how are you doing?

Chloe: I'm great. Now that we've got my funeral over with. Wow. That's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

Dr. Harris: You know, if you'd like to talk about that experience --

Chloe: You know, I think the less talk about me faking my suicide, the better.

Dr. Harris: It must've been frightening. Right? You said that at times, you didn't know if you were really dead or not?

Chloe: You really don't need to shrink me.

DR. Harris: [Chuckles]

Chloe: Don't worry. I don't have post-traumatic coffin disorder. Pinkie swear.

Dr. Harris: And you understand why we had to go to that extreme?

Chloe: [Sighs] It's just -- it's better for the people that love and care for me.

Dr. Harris: You know, Chloe, your ability to adapt to this situation as well as you have shows tremendous growth. You know, I'm proud of you.

Chloe: No use in fighting it, right? I'm stuck here. I'll never see my family ever again.

Mariah: So, did you hear about how things went with Noah and Tessa last night?

Sharon: Tessa...

Mariah: Yeah. Noah's main squeeze.

Sharon: Yeah, I know who she is. What do you know? What did she do? What happened?

Mariah: Wow. I know you're asking a lot of questions. What's that about?

Sharon: That girl...worries me. I'm afraid that she's gonna break Noah's heart.

Nikki: Why were you talking to my husband behind my back?

Tessa: I was just giving him an update. You know he wanted me to help you get ready for the concert.

Nikki: How many other times have you called him?

Tessa: You think I'm spying on you for Mr. Newman?

Nikki: Well, what else am I supposed to think after what I just heard? Sounds like you're Victor's latest little minion.

Graham: I called downstairs again. I can't imagine what's taking the bellman so long.

Dina: W-w-where's your luggage?

Graham: It's up in my room. I'll go grab it.

Dina: Okay.

Graham: You're doing the right thing, Dina. It's best for us to leave before...

Dina: Listen, I know why we're leaving, but where the hell is the bellman?

Graham: I don't like being the bad guy.

Dina: Listen, that's the job I've given you. No hard feelings, darling.

[Door closes]

Dina: [Sighs]

[Knock on door]

Dina: Ashley?

Ashley: So, jack told me that you're still planning on leaving tonight.

Dina: Yes, yes. All packed and ready to go.

Graham: Dina?

Dina: Oh, oh, it's -- it's okay, darling. Uh, Ashley and I are just saying our goodbyes.

Graham: I'll be in my room.

Ashley: It's very surprising that jack couldn't convince you to stay. You know how persuasive he can be.

Dina: Ah, well, plans are plans.

Ashley: Plans can be changed.

Dina: No, no, darling. Not this time.

Ashley: Well, that's too bad. Ever since you got back, my brother has shown a kinder, more gentler side, and it's a side I haven't seen in a long time.

Dina: So you're here on jack's behalf.

Ashley: Well, let's be honest -- if I told you I was here for myself, it would be highly suspicious, wouldn't it?

Dina: [Chuckles] True.

Ashley: I can't help it. I'm concerned about Graham.

Dina: Oh, listen. We've been over that --

Ashley: I know, but I'm not convinced there's nothing to worry about.

Dina: There isn't.

Ashley: Okay, I'll drop it.

Dina: Thank you. To hear your kind and caring side, I...I never thought that would come from you, dear. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

Ashley: Enough to convince you to stay?

[Clock ticking]

John: Okay. Bye.

Jack: What'd she say, pop?

John: I'm sorry, jack. Your, uh... your mother won't be coming back.

Jack: Why not?

John: Dina says she needs time and space for herself.

Jack: So she's just gonna forget about us?

John: No, no. Your mother would never forget about you.

Jack: She didn't even say goodbye to me or my sisters.

John: Hey... I'm gonna need your help, son.

Jack: I'm so sorry, dad.

John: I can't do this alone.

[Ticking continues]

Abby: Uncle jack? Uncle jack. I-I rang the bell. Are you okay?

Jack: Yeah, I'm fine, Abby. W-what's going on?

Abby: Well, we have unfinished business.

Jack: This about our startup incubator project?

Abby: It is. And I'm not leaving until I get what I want.

Chloe: Being a ghost has its advantages.

Dr. Harris: Such as?

Chloe: I'm not as anxious as I was before.

Dr. Harris: Yeah, I noticed that. And you've accomplished that without the help of your medication. That's a big step forward.

Chloe: Yeah, so when do you think I...can stop taking my regular pills?

Dr. Harris: We can revisit that once you're through with the cleansing period.

Chloe: And when will that be?

Dr. Harris: It's only a few days. The drugs that I administered to help you appear dead were strong. Once they're out of your system, I'll assess whether or not you're emotionally stable enough to stop being medicated.

Chloe: I understand.

Dr. Harris: But you're disappointed.

Chloe: I just don't like taking them. They make me feel loopy.

Dr. Harris: Well, perhaps we can try another kind -- something with milder side effects.

Chloe: That won't be necessary.

Dr. Harris: No?

Chloe: No, because I'm gonna prove to you that I don't need to take my meds.

Dr. Harris: Nothing would make me happier.

Tessa: I'll never talk to Victor again, okay? You're the last person I want mad at me right now.

Nikki: It -- it's just this concert. The stress is getting to me. That's all.

Tessa: Maybe it's not just the concert? I don't want to get up all in your business, but the way you reacted to that phone call... did Mr. Newman...do something to piss you off?

Nikki: When I'm sitting at the piano playing, I put my whole heart and soul into it. Feelings and emotions that I normally would keep down, they just bubble up to the surface.

Tessa: Yeah, well, I get that. That's when you play an earworm song.

Nikki: What?

Tessa: Oh, you know, the songs that you play that get stuck in your head and you can't think about anything else.

Nikki: Yeah, I get it, but I don't think that our donors who are paying big bucks are going to be interested in hearing my rendition of "poker face".

Tessa: [Chuckles]

Nikki: Oh, faith used to play it over and over and over.

Tessa: I don't want to overstep my bounds, but have you thought of, maybe, pulling out and having someone else perform?

Nikki: Absolutely not. I need to do this to prove to myself and to other people that I can, and I appreciate you trying to help me, but I think this is something that I really need to do on my own.

[Slow-tempo music plays]

Victor: You know, this company has been losing money lately.

Scott: So you got it for an even better bargain than I predicted.

Victor: Yeah. You bet. I was gonna put you in charge, but now that you're no longer interested...

Scott: No, no, I am. I-I very much am. Just ignore my earlier attempt to resign.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Scott: It's an amazing opportunity, Victor. When can I start?

Victor: [Chuckles] Eh, well... let's get a few things straight, okay?

Scott: Mm-hmm.

Victor: You're gonna work out of Genoa city. You will not be traveling around the world. You will be assigning stories and editing stories. But most importantly, you're gonna be in charge of the bottom line. You'll turn this company around. And remember one thing -- there's only one boss in town. Are those terms acceptable?

Scott: Yeah, yeah.

Victor: Good.

Scott: But I have one of my own.

Victor: Oh, really? What's that?

Scott: I want this to be a credible news source. So, if Newman enterprises or you makes the news...

Victor: You want to be able to report that objectively.

Scott: Is that gonna be a problem?

Victor: I hired you because of your integrity. This will be a challenge. I promise you.

Scott: Thank you, Victor. I, uh...I won't let you down.

Victor: I bet you won't.

Scott: [Chuckles]

Chloe: This is, like, one of my favorite movies.

Dr. Harris: That's why I got it. I remember you watching it over and over again in the hospital day room.

Chloe: So, are you doing this because of the money or because you really want to help me?

Dr. Harris: I-I admit, at first, it was because of the money. I was greedy. That's why I signed your release papers before you were ready. But I realized how detrimental that was to you, and... I want to make amends.

[Clatter]

Chloe: What was that?

Dr. Harris: Um, just -- shh. Stay here. I'll check it out.

Kevin: [Whispering] Chloe. I made it.

Chloe: [Sighs]

Dina: You know, darling, I have a life in Paris, and you can't expect me to just divorce myself of social obligations.

Ashley: Of course not. So much for reconnecting with your family.

Dina: But I did, dear. I did. It was lovely of you to invite me to dinner, but...

Ashley: This isn't your home.

Dina: No, it isn't.

Ashley: Okay, then. Well, I guess... the only thing I can say is... bon voyage.

Dina: Please, uh, tell Abby I'm sorry I missed her.

Ashley: You haven't told Abby that you're leaving? Do you have any idea how much it meant to her -- meeting you finally?

Dina: Well, it meant a lot to me, too.

Ashley: Really?

Dina: Yes.

Ashley: But not enough to tell her goodbye in person? You are walking out on my daughter the same way you walked out on me.

Dina: Ashley.

Ashley: You haven't changed a bit. Do you care how this is gonna make my daughter feel? Of course you don't. Because you are the same selfish and unfeeling woman that you were when you abandoned your children -- all those years ago!

Mariah: Don't you have enough on your plate -- running this place, school, raising faith? You want to add overprotective mom to that list?

Sharon: Well, I'm his mother. It's my job to worry about him.

Mariah: Noah is an adult. He can take care of himself.

Sharon: You're right. He doesn't need his mother interfering.

Mariah: Ah. Hallelujah! She's seen the light.

Sharon: But...if his big sister warns him...

Mariah: Oh, no, no. No! You're not playing the big-sister card.

Sharon: When Marissa broke off the engagement and left town, Noah was devastated.

Mariah: Really? Was he devastated? Because he didn't tell us for weeks.

Sharon: That's how hurt he was. He couldn't even bring himself --

Mariah: Okay, stop with the mom guilt. You are blowing this way out of proportion. Noah and Tessa are just getting to know each other. They've been on a couple of dates. You've got to give her a chance. Starting now.

Tessa: Hey.

Sharon: No.

Tessa: Coffee -- black.

Sharon: Go talk to her.

Mariah: You know what? I will. But not about her ex. You're wrong about her, okay?

Sharon: We'll see.

Mariah: Hey!

Tessa: Hi.

Mariah: Hey. What's wrong? Boy trouble?

Tessa: What?

Mariah: Never mind.

Tessa: Oh.

Mariah: So, what's going on?

Tessa: Oh, I think blew it with Nikki.

Mariah: What -- what do you mean? No way.

Tessa: Yeah, she was practicing for the concert. She was having a rough time with it, and I could tell something was bothering her. So I called Victor 'cause I thought he could help. But then she overheard me and went off on me. [Sighs] If I lose this job... I don't know what I'm gonna do. I could go back to playing for tips in the park, but there's no way Nikki will let me stay at the ranch house. I need to make things right with her.

Mariah: Look, I don't think Nikki is gonna toss you out. I mean, did you explain why you called Victor?

Tessa: Yeah, but she thought I was being a narc. I would never do that to a friend.

Mariah: Yeah, that would definitely be a crappy thing to do.

Sharon: I thought you went over there to quit.

Scott: I did -- briefly. But then I got promoted.

Sharon: [Chuckles] What?

Scott: Victor told me he actually wanted to buy the company I recommended and that I'd be in charge of it. I mean, just like that. I was floored. And this job's exactly what I was hoping for.

Sharon: Does this mean you're gonna be going away on dangerous assignments?

Scott: No, he wants me to run it from Genoa city, so I'll be, uh, staying put.

Sharon: Well, that's great.

Scott: It is.

Sharon: Of course, I mean, this means you will still be tied to Victor.

Scott: Yeah, but I think it'll be different now.

Sharon: How so?

Scott: Victor kept his word. I'll be at Newman, but on my own terms -- kinda.

Sharon: Well, be careful. Victor sees the world as one big chessboard, and he has no problem moving his pawns around to suit his needs.

Scott: I'm not about to let that happen.

Sharon: Are you sure? Because it seems like you're easily allowing him to move you from one position to another.

Scott: Since I was so young when my dad died, I never really had a strong male presence in my life, so... maybe that's the reason that I'm so intrigued by Victor.

Sharon: Don't make Victor Newman your role model.

Jack: Abby, I'm the one who rescued you when you needed to unload that warehouse. I'm the one who believed in you when your own father didn't. That's why I wanted to partner with you.

Abby: I know that, uncle jack, and I appreciate that -- I appreciate you. I really do.

Jack: And still, you want me to walk away.

Abby: If my dad finds out you're involved in this project, he's gonna go ballistic. And then I will never get to prove to him that my idea has merit, that it's profitable.

Jack: It's not that simple. I promised Ashley a new lab in that warehouse.

Abby: Okay, well, my mom can have the warehouse space.

Jack: And Victor will just go along with it?

Abby: I'll handle my dad.

Jack: Abby...

Abby: Uncle jack, if you dissolve our partnership, if you walk away right now, I will make sure you get a considerable return on your investment.

Jack: A one-time payment.

Abby: A generous one, at that.

Jack: As opposed to Victor, who will be collecting on my idea for years to come.

Abby: Is that what this is really about? You're worried that my dad is gonna have a one-up on you? No, this isn't about him, uncle jack. This is about me. This is about my dream. I am so tired of being stuck in the middle of this feud.

Jack: Okay, fine. It's yours.

Abby: Really? I-it's that simple?

Jack: You've made a very compelling argument.

Abby: Well, thank you, uncle jack. Ah! [Chuckles] I will draw up the paperwork, okay? I'll do that right now. And don't tell mom about the warehouse. I'm gonna make sure that I tell her. And have you spoken to her? I've been trying to get ahold of her.

Jack: I'm sure she's busy right now saying goodbye to your grandmother.

Abby: Wait. Dina's leaving?

Jack: For Paris -- tonight.

Abby: Well, she didn't tell me that she was leaving. Why wouldn't she say something?

Jack: Your mother and I think that her companion, Graham, is forcing the issue.

Abby: I can't imagine that Dina would be forced into anything.

Jack: You're right. My mother spent an entire life doing whatever she wanted to do, regardless of the consequences.

[Glass thuds]

Abby: I just -- I feel so bad that I'm not gonna get to say goodbye to her, to see her one more time.

Jack: Don't. This isn't the first time she left without saying goodbye.

Ashley: I didn't want to give you a minute of my time -- not one minute -- when you came back. Because my instincts told me to put a wall up -- and then another one just in case -- and that I should stay safely behind there. And then you know what? I let my guard down. I thought I should be kind, so I invited you to an Abbott family dinner. Well, what an exercise in futility that was! I wish I could erase that entire evening. And then you know what? [Voice breaking] It gets so ridiculous! I've actually felt protective of you the last few days. Because there were so many unanswered questions about your Graham. There's no question at all as to who you are... and who you have always been. So you just go back to Paris. You go back and you put yourself first, because that's what you always do... mother.

[Door opens]

Chloe: You made it.

Kevin: I am never leaving you -- not again.

Chloe: Where's Bella?

Kevin: She's with Esther for now. Chloe, she's ours. After I got your letter, the lab at the police station did another DNA test.

Chloe: That's all I ever wanted.

Kevin: Yeah, me, too. Look, I'm gonna have like a million questions.

Chloe: I know, and I'm gonna answer every single one of them, but we can't stay here, okay?

[Door opens]

[Door closes]

Dr. Harris: What's going on? Who are you? Chloe, we had an understanding.

Kevin: Hey, hey, hey, I don't care about any "understanding." One minute, I'm planning a funeral for the woman I love -- the mother of my daughter -- the next thing I know, she's telling me to meet her here, so...

Kevin: Wait. You contacted him? When?

Chloe: After the funeral.

Dr. Harris: Do you realize that you have ruined everything? If one person knows, everyone knows.

Kevin: Stop giving her a hard time and start talking. Why are you holding her prisoner?

Chloe: I'm not a prisoner, Kevin. [Sighs] Everything that I have done -- faking my death, coming here -- it was my choice. Just like contacting Kevin was my choice. I love him. I can't live without him.

Jack: Thanks for coming by. Good to have a friend to talk to.

Nikki: Well, you sounded upset on the phone. Is it...work? Family? Oh, god, it's Dina.

Jack: Give the lady a gold star. Just when everything was going great, just when we were all getting along, she decides to hop on a plane and head back to France, maybe -- maybe for good this time.

Nikki: Well, don't think that.

Jack: I'm not talking about her mortality. I'm saying she may not be inclined to ever visit again.

Nikki: Why not?

Jack: Ashley and I think it has something to do with this companion of hers, Graham. He's A... I can't figure out who he is or what he is to our mother. I just know she says he protects her. I say he controls her.

Nikki: Wow. That's a pretty serious accusation.

Jack: As strong as our mother is, whenever she's in the same room with him, she defers to him completely to make all decisions. Ashley thinks he's out to get his hands on her money.

Nikki: And what do you think?

Jack: I think it's pretty clear -- she chose him above us.

Nikki: Ohhhh. Look at this! Oh, jack, so cute. How old were you here?

Jack: 15. That picture was taken right after mother walked out on us.

Nikki: You know... you never really talked about Dina when you and I were married.

Jack: Wasn't much to tell. When she was here, she wasn't really here. As adults, she popped in every once in a while. Nothing terribly significant about those visits. This time was different. This time... we even had a family dinner here the other night.

Nikki: That's good.

Jack: Yeah. Ashley... Abby -- Traci flew in from new York. We...sat around here and joked and reminisced and laughed and... [Snaps] And that's it -- she's gone. Something about being around her family triggered this impulse to flee.

Nikki: Oh, why is it... that the people who supposedly are closest to you... can hurt you more than any stranger ever could?

Victor: Hi.

Ashley: [Gasps] I-I'm really not in a good place right now.

Victor: Well, don't leave. You look really upset. What's the matter?

Ashley: I'm okay.

Victor: Is it because your mother's staying here or what?

Ashley: She won't be here for long. She's going back to Paris tonight.

Victor: Oh. Well, that's gonna upset Abby. Abby loves talking to her.

Ashley: Yeah, well, she hasn't told Abby that she's leaving. She's pulling the same stunt with her that she did with me. She's just disappearing without a word. Abby.

Abby: Hi, dad.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Abby: Mom, has Dina left yet?

Ashley: How did you know?

Abby: Uncle jack told me. Is she gone?

Ashley: No, she's upstairs, honey. She wanted me to tell you goodbye for her.

Abby: Well, if she's still here, why can't she tell me herself?

Ashley: Because that's just what she does. I'm so sorry.

Abby: I -- it's unacceptable.

Graham: A limo is on its way.

[Knock on door]

Abby: I'm here to see Dina. You were gonna leave without saying goodbye?

Dina: Oh, well, uh... I-it just -- time just slipped away, dear.

Abby: But you don't have to leave tonight, do you? I mean, just -- just stay.

Dina: It's not that simple.

Abby: But we were just getting to know each other. Unless that's not what you really wanted.

Dina: There's nothing I would love more than to spend time with you, darling.

Abby: I feel like I've lost so much this year. A child... my marriage... and now it feels like I'm losing you, too.

Dina: Oh, no, no, no, no. You're not losing me. You can come visit. And we'll talk.

Abby: So there's nothing I can say to get you to stay? Not even that... I love you.

Dina: Well, my leaving doesn't mean I don't love you, too. But it just... is not possible right now.

Graham: [Clears throat] Dina, the car.

Abby: I guess that's my cue to go. [Sniffles]

Dina: Oh, honey, I love you.

Abby: [Sniffles]

Dina: I know it's the right thing to do... but it feels so wrong.

Victor: By the way, this Graham fellow, how long has he been with your mother?

Ashley: About a year. I was so convinced that he was somehow forcing Dina's hand, but there's no doubt who's in control.

Victor: Dina.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. Always has been, always will be.

Victor: Uh-huh.

Ashley: Honey.

Abby: Hey.

Ashley: You okay?

Abby: Well, Dina's really leaving. Her car will be here any minute.

Victor: You're really upset. I'm sorry. But you can always visit your grandmother in Paris.

Abby: Yeah, that's what she said, um...

Victor: Yeah.

Abby: You know what -- I got to get back to work. Um, I have some things to take care of.

Victor: Back to work this late?

Ashley: [Sighs] Who are you looking for?

Graham: For Abby.

Ashley: For Abby?

Victor: Excuse me. And your name is...?

Graham: Mr. Newman, I'm Graham.

Victor: Hi, Graham. And why are you looking for my daughter?

Graham: I have a message from Dina.

Ashley: I think Dina's done enough damage.

Graham: Abby's gonna want to hear this.

Ashley: Really? Well, why don't you tell me what Dina has to say, and then I'll decide whether I tell Abby.

Graham: Fine. Dina wants her to know that there's been a change of plans. She's staying in town after all.

Kevin: Hey, how did you end up here -- with him?

Chloe: I showed up on his doorstep. Dr. Harris was the only person who really cared about me at the hospital. To everyone else, I was just a number. So when I left Genoa city, he admitted that he made a mistake when he released me when he did. So I knew that I could trust him. And he promised that he would make it up to me.

Kevin: By helping you fake your death?

Chloe: I know -- it is unforgivable. I couldn't let Chelsea and nick find me. I couldn't let the cops find me. I mean, I-I was not going to go to prison.

Dr. Harris: With this little stunt, that's exactly where you might end up.

Mariah: If you're up front and honest, even the Newmans can be understanding. I mean, I was neither of those things when I got here. I thought Sharon was never gonna forgive me for what I did to her.

Tessa: What'd you do?

Mariah: Oh... I pretended to be my dead twin sister's ghost so I could haunt her.

Tessa: [Laughs]

Mariah: In my defense, it wasn't my idea. I was paid to do it.

Tessa: [Laughs] Okay. All right. You don't have to make up some excuse to make me feel better. Oh! You're not kidding?

Mariah: No.

Tessa: Oh! Wh-- you have to tell me everything.

Mariah: Yeah. I will. Just over something much, much stronger than tea.

Tessa: Okay. Deal. What's going on with her today?

Mariah: Who? Sharon?

Tessa: Yeah. She gave me the evil eye when I walked in and keeps looking over here like I'm gonna steal sugar packets or something.

Mariah: I...didn't notice anything.

Tessa: I don't think she likes me very much. Probably wants Noah to date someone who's not me.

Mariah: No. Sharon's a really good mom. She just wants her kids to be happy. If you give her a chance to get to know you better, she will back off. I promise.

Sharon: So, I heard Tessa say something, you know, a little disturbing earlier.

Scott: Well, don't keep me in suspense.

Sharon: She said she has to find a way to make things right with Nikki.

Scott: Oh, well, that sounds downright diabolical.

Sharon: Well, that "way" is my son.

Scott: You lost me.

Sharon: Nikki is Tessa's meal ticket. And she's using Noah to keep the gravy train rolling.

Jack: Dad tried to assure me and the girls that our mother would be back. The look on his face when he hung up the phone when Dina told him she wouldn't be back at all... I'll never forget it.

Nikki: Well, of course not. One of the most significant moments of your life.

Jack: When your mother abandons you like that... so many of the things you believe, you -- things you count on, you start to question. I mean, when the woman that gives birth to you walks out the door and never looks back, who do you trust?

Nikki: You were at a difficult age, too. Those teen years.

Jack: You know what? I'm not sure age has anything to do with it. Losing your mother that way is soul-crushing. For my dad, my... dad tried hard. He was great. He was a different man after he hung up the phone. It's like part of him died that day. Changed me, too.

Nikki: I never knew that you were carrying all this pain around like this. I am so sorry.

Jack: Yeah, maybe it's a -- it's a good thing this is all happening. Rip that old scar tissue off.

Nikki: Mm. Very painful.

Jack: Yeah, it is. Particularly the fact that my mother had to take off tonight.

Nikki: Well, have you tried to talk her out of it?

Jack: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I have. Ashley has. No, Dina has had her fill of family.

Nikki: Maybe... she just... doesn't want to...be reminded of all the things that she missed out on.

Jack: Maybe. Whatever her reasoning... I let her back in. And I feel like I'm losing her all over again. I know that sounds dumb. You can't lose what you never had, but... ah.

Nikki: Well, I'm glad you called me. I'm glad that you can trust me enough to share this with me. So, um... what do you want? Advice or, uh, sympathy?

Jack: [Laughs] I don't know. What do you got?

Nikki: Let's try advice, even though I don't think that's the one you would pick.

Jack: Advice. Lay it on me.

Nikki: Rejection... is the worst. There's the initial pain and then there's the lingering pain. And the first one, we have no control over that. But the lingering pain? We can make a decision to not let it get to us.

Jack: How do we do that?

Nikki: By letting it go. Just let it go.

Ashley: What changed Dina's mind?

Graham: Well, after speaking with your daughter, she decided she wants to spend as much time as possible with her family.

Ashley: And you're okay altering your plans?

Graham: Yes, of course.

Ashley: Weren't you so anxious to get back to Paris, Graham?

Graham: I do what's best for Dina. She's decided she wants to stay for now, so we're staying. Excuse me. Mr. Newman? Nice to meet you.

Victor: Thank you. Same to you.

Ashley: Any thoughts?

Victor: You better watch your mother's bank accounts, okay? Because given half a chance, that man will drain them dry.

Dina: [Sobbing]

Chloe: Kevin won't tell a soul. We can trust him.

Kevin: She's right. I won't say a word -- not to anyone. I don't want to see her locked up.

Chloe: See? We're all good.

Kevin: Thank you for looking out for Chloe until I could get here, but now that I am, I got this.

Dr. Harris: Wait just one minute. I don't know what you're thinking, but I am not letting the two of you out of my sight. And there is someone who won't be pleased with this turn of events.

Kevin: Tell me right now who you're calling.

Next on "the young and the restless"...

Cane: You honestly think that I offered her a job in exchange for sex, don't you?!

Leslie: If you have any information about the case or Juliet's credibility, now is the time to tell me.

Kevin: I'm not gonna let anyone lock her up. And I am not leaving here without her.
