Episode # 11185 ~ Victoria is under attack; Hilary toys with Cane; friends and family gather to mourn Chloe.

Nick: Paul will be here any minute.

Chelsea: Do you have any idea what this is about? Why does he want to talk to us? We already gave him our statement.

Nick: I don't know. Maybe he has more questions for us.

Paul: Hi. Sorry to keep you waiting. Come on in. I just wanted to personally thank you for all your cooperation, and I also thought you might want to know that i received the official report on, uh, chloe's death from the medical examiner in louisiana.

Nick: Were there any surprises?

Paul: No. Just confirmation. Chloe died from a prescription drug overdose, and her death was ruled a suicide. I am so sorry. I know how terribly difficult this has been for you. Kevin has made all the arrangements, and chloe's body has arrived at the funeral home.

Chelsea: Arrangements?

Paul: She's going to be buried today.

Chelsea: The funeral is

today?

Sharon: So when the delivery comes, you just sign for it right here. And text me if you need me.

Scott: Hey.

Sharon: Hi. How are you?

Scott: Pretty morose. But, uh, again, thank you for agreeing to come with me to the funeral.

Sharon: Sure. You know, chloe and I, we -- we got pretty close when we worked together.

Scott: You liked her?

Sharon: Well, it was more that I understood her. You know, I had lost a daughter, too, and I also suffer from mental illness, not that that excuses what chloe did.

Scott: Yeah, well, don't apologize for feeling empathy. It's a quality in short supply these days. That's why I was so surprised when victor actually showed real compassion for kevin yesterday.

Sharon: That is surprising.

Scott: Yeah.

Sharon: Victor shedding any forgiveness for the woman who killed his son?

Scott: There's a whole other story there, but at least he was kind to kevin.

Sharon: How's he holding up?

Scott: He's still in shock. You know, I'm worried what will happen once that wears off.

Kevin: Yeah, I know that we went over this before. I just -- I just need to make sure that we have all of chloe's favorite flowers at the service. Great. Okay. Thank you.

Michael: Everything set?

Kevin: Um, yeah. Just one last call to make. I need to check in with father todd.

Michael: I already did that, kevin. I told you.

Kevin: Oh. Right. Then I'll just, um... uh, well, my list. I have -- I have a list here.

Michael: [ Clears throat ] Kevin.

Kevin: Yeah?

Michael: I need to know that...

Kevin: What? That I'm okay? Uh, well, the last time I saw father todd, he was marrying chloe and me. And now I'm organizing her funeral. I still can't believe she's gone. Bella's mother, the woman i loved more than anyone, so, no, mikey, I'm not okay.

Hilary: Lily filled me in on what happened with the hockey league. I'm just relieved that you were able to save the deal.

Victoria: Not as relieved as I am.

Hilary: I came by because i wanted to personally assure you that all of the footage of the hockey players and lily's appearance on my show has been completely destroyed.

Victoria: Oh, thank you.

Hilary: Since some responsibility of this fiasco falls on me, please know that i will find a way to make it up to you.

Victoria: Oh, look, i appreciate that, but the screw-up was on our end, and the appropriate steps have been taken. But thank you so much for stopping by.

Hilary: Yeah, any time. That's the hard part about being boss, isn't it, victoria? Making those tough decisions.

Victoria: Well, I try to do what's best for the company.

Hilary: Yeah. No one can argue with that.

Billy: Uh, can I get a black coffee to go, please?

[ Sighs ] Juliet?

Juliet: Good morning, billy.

Billy: Hey. How you, uh... I mean, I haven't seen you since...

Juliet: Since I was fired?

Billy: Look, I want to apologize for my part in what happened in L.A.

Juliet: You don't have to.

Billy: I know, but I would really like to, especially today. I really hate that you got nailed with this.

Juliet: Hmm. So do I.

Billy: You seem...

Juliet: Over it?

Billy: Yeah.

Juliet: Yeah, I am. Sure, I was upset at first, but the league made it a condition that victoria fire someone, and since I was the last one hired, that made me the logical choice. I don't blame her. And I don't blame you, either.

Lily: You know, it's really sweet that you took time to have breakfast with me, but obviously your mind's at the office.

Cane: Actually, I'm thinking about chloe's funeral, which is today.

Lily: What? There was no announcement. We should send flowers.

Cane: I already did from both of us. You okay?

Lily: Yeah, I just was thinking that you were married to chloe.

Cane: [ Sighs ]

Lily: You know, because of her, we almost didn't have... I'm sad that she's gone, but I'm really grateful for our life together.

Cane: Me, too. Me, too.

Lily: Should we go to the service?

Cane: Uh, I called the funeral home. They said it was private, which is probably good for us considering we need to focus on work now that brash & sassy's in damage-control mode.

Lily: I really wish the league hadn't insisted someone get fired for what was an honest mistake.

Cane: Yeah. Yeah, billy's the one who should have gone, though.

Lily: Well, that was victoria's decision to make.

Cane: And now she has, and juliet's gone. How about we just focus on ourselves and work and just put what's happened behind us?

Lily: I really wish it were that simple, cane.

Michael: Lauren and I, we're gonna be with you every second. Scott, too. And even gloria.

Kevin: Well, if it ended there with you helping me get through the funeral, this would be a hell of a lot easier.

Michael: You worried about after?

Kevin: Yeah. All those other people, the ones who are gonna look me in the eye, offer their condolences, secretly they're thinking that this is how it should have ended for chloe.

Michael: Nobody thinks that. Nobody is gonna think that.

Kevin: Michael, she was a murderer. That doesn't stir up a lot of sympathy.

Michael: There's no sense in going back --

Kevin: In what? Telling the truth? You know I'm right. This town is full of hypocrites, people who -- who condemn chloe as this ugly, vile person as if their lives are so perfect.

[ Sighs ]

Lauren: Honey, people are always gonna be small-minded and judgmental. There's nothing we can do about that. But what we can do is remember what today is about, and that is honoring the woman that you truly loved and also showing your little girl that she's safe and secure and loved. And that goes for you, too.

Kevin: You guys, you are both so incredible. Thank you.

[ Sighs ] Thank you for talking me down for the hundredth time since all this happened.

Michael: You saw what was good in chloe. So whatever people are thinking, whatever they're saying, you don't let it get to you.

Kevin: Yeah, I'll try not to. I know it's not good for me. It's not good for bella.

Michael: Well, you know what might be good for you is to get away for awhile, take some time for yourself.

Kevin: Yeah, paul suggested that, too.

Lauren: You might consider that. I mean, honey, whatever you decide, we're behind you. You know that.

Kevin: Mm-hmm. Well, I'm not deciding anything today. But I am gonna get to the chapel, make sure everything is ready for the service.

Michael: You want me to go with you?

Kevin: No, I could use a little time to myself.

Michael: Whatever you need.

Kevin: I just want to make sure that today is A... a loving goodbye to chloe. I just hope I can get through it all without losing it.

Michael: Hey. You will, all right?

Kevin: Yeah. I'll do it for chloe and for bella.

[ Door closes ]

Michael: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Thank you. I got to say, I'm really impressed on how you're handling this.

Juliet: Hmm. What choice do I have? It is up to me to determine the next step in my life.

Billy: Well, you're a marketing whiz. I loved working with you. If you ever need a letter of recommendation, don't hesitate to ask.

Juliet: Thank you. I appreciate it. And I wish nothing but the best for brash & sassy.

Billy: You sure about that?

Juliet: Of course. I hope the company recovers quickly and has its best summer ever.

Billy: Cool. Well, in the meantime, I have a feeling you're gonna land somewhere great -- and fast.

Juliet: Hmm. Easier said than done.

Billy: Yeah, but everybody's lost a job at one point. I mean, I've been fired a couple times. I think the best way you can do is just take it as a learning experience.

Juliet: Cane pretty much said the same thing.

Billy: Yeah, but I say it way cooler, right?

Juliet: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: Look, I don't want to give cane credit for anything, but I will this time. He's right about that. Best of luck, juliet.

Juliet: Oh, I'm going to make my own luck.

Lily: Well, your job may be in high gear, but mine as brand ambassador is stalled.

Cane: Well, as soon as we come up with a new marketing strategy for the hockey league, yours will be back on track.

Lily: Yeah, but it won't be the same.

Cane: I know that you're disappointed that the commercial was canceled and you can't use it for your reel. I know that, and I'm sorry.

Lily: Yeah, I called barry to talk about it.

Cane: Don't worry about him. He's an agent. We know what they like. They're out for themselves, so you shouldn't be taking it personally if he drops you.

Lily: No, he was actually the opposite. He was really encouraging and said that this is just a minor setback, but he wants to keep putting me out there.

Cane: That's great. That's great.

Lily: But I told barry that i won't be pursuing other projects for a while.

Cane: You know you didn't have to do that.

Lily: No, I know, but i wanted to. I realize how much worse this could have been. You know, we have so much to be grateful for -- the kids, our jobs, each other. I want to concentrate on that and put my plans on conquering hollywood on hold for a while.

Cane: Hallelujah.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Cane: You know, I am just glad that you and I both got out of this unscathed.

Lily: Me, too. Not that I doubted it.

Cane: So, you tell me this. Now that you're a supermodel, this -- this gonna be enough for you, hmm?

Lily: More than enough.

Cane: More than enough? Yeah?

Hilary: Aww. How romantic.

Victoria: Oh. You're here.

Billy: Kind of weirds me out when you say that because I work here, right? I mean, I still have a job here, right?

Victoria: I just thought that -- well, I heard that today was chloe's funeral.

Billy: Yeah. I didn't want to make it more difficult on kevin than it's already going to be, you know, with everything I said about chloe.

Victoria: You know you had every right to be angry with her.

Billy: Well, I sent flowers. Listen, I ran into juliet at crimson lights.

Victoria: How does she seem?

Billy: Uh...

Victoria: She was pretty upset when I let her go.

Billy: Yeah, I mean, that's understandable. A lot of mistakes were made, and she's the only one who walked away without a job.

Victoria: All right, listen, how many times do I have to keep reminding everybody that the league insisted that whoever was responsible for the miscommunication be let go? And that was juliet.

Billy: And nobody's blaming you, including juliet.

Victoria: She isn't?

Billy: No. I mean, she knows that the league forced your hand. You had to make an objective business decision.

Victoria: Good. I'm glad she's not taking it personally, because I liked her work. I thought she was creative and industrious.

Billy: And since juliet doesn't blame you, maybe you should stop beating yourself up about it.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Billy: Bad? What is that? Is it bad?

Victoria: I hope not. It's the hockey league. Victoria newman.

Hilary: Now, you two don't look like a married couple with teenage kids. More like, uh, let me think, um, a pair of secret lovers?

Lily: I won't let you ruin our morning with your unnecessary sarcasm.

Hilary: I am being completely sincere. Seeing the two of you together, it is proof that a happy, long marriage is a possible dream. And I have been through two very painful divorces.

Lily: If you're trying to hold my brother and dad responsible for your failed marriages, really?

Hilary: Lily, I'm just trying to say that seeing you and cane together, it is validation that marriage can last. You can have a family. You can keep the spark alive. And you can stay absolutely committed to one another.

Lily: Thank you, I think.

Hilary: You're welcome. But I know it takes hard work. It's not easy. Things come along to challenge you, to...tempt you.

Lily: There it goes. I knew you would take a swipe at me. I knew it.

Hilary: Oh, I'm sorry. Is that what I'm doing?

Lily: You know, I have made mistakes, but I own them. And we got through them together.

Cane: And it's only made us stronger. And you see now we can deal with any challenges life throws at us.

Hilary: Okay.

Paul: All right. Here you go.

[ Sighs, clears throat ]

Todd: Paul.

Paul: Todd!

[ Laughs ] You made it! I thought you were gonna --

Todd: No, I had to move some things around, but I didn't want kevin to have to ask a stranger to preside over the funeral.

Paul: Oh, come on in. Have a seat.

[ Laughs ] Good to see you.

[ Sighs ] I know this isn't exactly typical for you. I mean, chloe was an admitted murderer, and, uh...

[ Sighs ] She committed suicide.

Todd: And I'm too involved. I officiated her almost wedding, and I'm the one who discovered poor chelsea unconscious after chloe attacked her.

Paul: And yet you agreed to do this. That's awesome.

Todd: How could I not do it, paul? Knowing the impact that mental illness has had on our own family.

Paul: Yeah, I thought patty might be one of the reasons that this would be incredibly difficult for you.

Todd: My mandate is to make it easier on the family. Despite having a front-row seat to the repercussions of chloe's behavior, I was able to see how much that young woman loved her child, loved kevin. And I think that kevin and esther and bella all deserve to have someone speak for chloe, who witnessed that love and has compassion for her.

Paul: [ Sighs deeply ] I feel for them. It can haunt you, knowing that there had to be some signs and feeling as though that there just had to be something you didn't anticipate or missed or...

Todd: Knowing what's in someone's mind and heart can be impossible, even if you're close.

Paul: Yeah, well, it took me a long time to accept that.

Todd: But have you?

Paul: Most days. Poor kevin. You know, I'm sure he doesn't love her any less knowing that she did some despicable things. And I'm afraid that, uh, when she died, part of kevin died with her.

Chloe: I love you, kevin fisher, and I don't care who knows it. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, and i should have told you that before. But I wasn't ready. And now I'm ready. I'm ready for us to be together.

Kevin: Together like...

Chloe: Will you marry me, kevin?

Kevin: Yes. Yes, I will marry you.

Chloe: [ Squealing ] Dance, cute boy! Dance!

Kevin: I want you to dance. Where's that cat suit? Bring out the cat suit.

Chloe: Cat suit?

Kevin: Yeah.

Chloe: You can't handle the cat suit.

Kevin: I can handle the cat suit.

Chloe: [ Laughs ] Mmm!

Kevin: I will always come home to you.

Chloe: I love this badass side of you. I want to live dangerously right now.

Kevin: Now is the time.

Chloe: Time for what?

Kevin: I want us to be a family again. I want to legally adopt bella. I want us to be the fishers or the fisher-mitchells, whatever we call ourselves, as long as we're a family.

Chloe: The only way to do that is if...

Kevin: Right.

Chloe: Okay.

Kevin: Chloe... will you marry me?

Chloe: I don't want to wait any longer than I have to, to be your wife. I have wasted so much time already. I don't need a massive wedding with a bunch of business associates or acquaintances filling up chairs. I just need my daughter, our best friends, and our family.

[ Voice breaking ] But what i need most of all... is you.

Chelsea: I kind of I can't believe this. Chloe's funeral is today, and nobody even bothered to tell me?

Nick: There's a reason for that.

Chelsea: I didn't want this, nick. I didn't want to hurt her. We were close. We shared everything -- our -- our business, my home, we were raising our children together.

Nick: Well, what about what she did to you, what she took from you?

Chelsea: I know. That woman killed my husband, but at one point, she was my best friend. I should be at her funeral. I want to be.

Nick: I don't think that's a good idea.

Nick: Look, this day is for chloe and kevin's family and friends.

Chelsea: Right. And that's who I am.

Nick: I don't think kevin will see it like that, all right? Chloe was his fiancéE.

Chelsea: Nick, you don't have to --

Nick: Chelsea, please, just give kevin this day.

Chelsea: I have all the sympathy in the world for kevin. I do.

Nick: This is different.

Chelsea: How is it different? We both loved her, and she hurt us both tremendously. But today in that chapel, none of that matters. It's important I am there for her. I need to make peace with all of this, and I really think that kevin will understand that.

Nick: I think that's a mistake.

Chelsea: Okay, well, then why don't you see for yourself and come with me?

Nick: No, I can't do that.

Chelsea: I mean, you don't want to go and show your respect?

Nick: I believe I'm showing my respect by staying away.

Chelsea: Please. I'm asking you. For me.

Nick: Look, chelsea, you know I support you no matter what. But you can't ask me to go to the funeral of the woman who killed my brother.

Kevin: [ Sighs ] Father todd, hi. Thank you for making the trip and doing this for us.

Todd: I needed to be here, kevin, in service to god and those who chloe left behind.

Kevin: Not in service to chloe?

Todd: No, chloe's at rest. It's those loved ones left here to deal with the loss that need to comfort one another and be comforted.

Kevin: I hope you're right. I hope she is at rest.

Todd: Would you like to speak today?

Kevin: Yes. Um, excuse me.

Esther: Kevin.

Kevin: Where's bella?

Esther: Um, she's in the anteroom with the nanny.

Kevin: Okay, I'm gonna go be with her.

Esther: Don't worry. I'll be fine.

Kevin: Okay.

Esther: [ Sighs ]

Todd: Esther. I'm so sorry.

Esther: Now I understand what chloe went through when delia died. Burying your child? No parent should have to do that.

Todd: I'm sorry I can't be here in the weeks ahead. You'll need someone to talk to, to help you grieve, to learn how to live with your loss.

Esther: Oh, it's okay. I went to my doctor, and she gave me something to help me get through this, as if something would ever get me through.

[ Sighs ]

Todd: A verse keeps going through my head. "A little while, and ye shall not see me: And again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the father."

Esther: Thank you.

Gloria: I'm so sorry for your loss, esther.

Esther: You hated chloe, so spare me your phony sympathy.

Victoria: The call?

Billy: Yeah.

Victoria: [ Whispers ] That was from the hockey league.

Billy: Yeah, I know it was from the hockey league. I already knew that part. Nice of you to join us. You're right on time. You know, we're trying to run a business here.

Cane: You're right. I am on time.

Lily: What's going on?

Victoria: Okay, uh, let's discuss it in the conference room, shall we?

Cane: Oh, and you know why i don't have to be the first one here and I can actually go and have breakfast with my wife, right?

Billy: Oh, I can't wait.

Cane: See, 'cause unlike you, I don't have to prove my reliability and regain victoria's trust.

[ Clicks tongue ]

Billy: [ Clicks tongue ]

Victoria: Okay, I will get straight to it. I just got off the phone with the hockey league, and not only do they want to promote brash & sassy products this next season. They want to get moving on it, and they want to get moving right away.

Billy: So they want to move on this before training camp starts in the fall?

Victoria: Mm-hmm. And they specifically want to schedule more photo shoots with you, lily.

Lily: Oh, my god.

Cane: That's amazing.

Victoria: Yeah.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: I can't believe they want to jump in like this already.

Victoria: Well, believe it.

Billy: It's good for them. I mean, they're smart enough to know they got a good thing here with brash & sassy despite the little hiccup in L.A.

Cane: Yeah, look at you. You're like teflon. You screw up, and you still get rewarded.

Gloria: There are a lot of things I could say right now. But I won't, because you're upset. You're grieving. So am I.

Esther: Really? You're grieving for chloe?

Gloria: For my granddaughter, who lost her mother. For my son, who lost the woman he loved. Can't you see that?

Lauren: This is very kind of you, father.

Michael: Having you here will make it more meaningful, more of a solace for kevin.

Lauren: And for us. We can't thank you enough.

Gloria: I don't want you worrying about anything today. Whatever you need, you just let us know.

Kevin: That little display of affection, I'm guessing that was for me.

Gloria: [ Chuckles ] No, not at all.

Esther: We -- we were just...

Kevin: Being thoughtful. Even if you were only faking it, I appreciate it.

Scott: Hey, buddy. I'm so sorry, man.

Kevin: Thanks, scott.

Scott: Yeah.

Kevin: Sharon, I'm glad you came.

Sharon: Well, thank you for allowing me to be here with you and your family today. Chloe was a friend.

Kevin: She felt the same way about you. It means a lot that you're here, that you're all here. Excuse me.

Scott: Yeah.

Lauren: Hi, sweetheart.

Scott: Hi, mom.

Gloria: Oh, my poor boy.

Esther: I think he's handling things remarkably well.

Lauren: You know what? Let's sit down, shall we? Come on.

Gloria: So are you as worried about kevin as I am?

Scott: He's had a lot to deal with the last few months, you know. Planning his life with chloe and then, uh, her disappearing, finding out that bella was his. Now he'S...

Michael: Listen, lauren and i are concerned, too. And paul's trying to get him to take some time off, get away.

Sharon: Well, maybe that's the best thing for kevin right now.

Michael: Yeah, yeah, no, i agree, but you can't push him.

Gloria: No! Kevin doesn't need to be anyplace. He needs to be right here with his family.

Todd: Kevin. Are you ready?

Billy: You know you deserve all the credit for this.

Victoria: Damn right I do.

Cane: So much for taking it easy, huh?

Lily: I'm excited.

Cane: You should be.

Lily: Yeah, not only because there's a new campaign.

[ Cellphone rings ] But also there's no longer this dark cloud hanging over the company. Oh, I got to take this, but I'll be right back.

Cane: Sure, okay.

Lily: Hello?

Cane: So, it looks like the league's gonna have a close eye on us, huh?

Billy: I've got no problem with that.

Cane: Yeah? Well, that means we can't have the slightest hint of impropriety.

Billy: Okay, cane, I'll play along. What do you suggest?

Cane: I'm suggesting that you don't have anything to do with hockey.

Billy: You know what? I think you should take care of yourself, especially now that your biggest fan juliet's not here to make you look good.

Cane: Okay, see, 'cause what I'm worried about is how long it's gonna be before you make another mess and we kind of have to clean it up. You know what I mean?

Billy: No.

Todd: Kevin. Don't think about the past or the future. Just concentrate on this moment, making this ceremony a beautiful expression of your love for chloe and a fitting remembrance for your daughter. Is everyone here?

Kevin: Yeah. I don't think we're expecting anyone else. These are the people who I want to be here.

Todd: Okay. Everyone, shall we begin? Welcome. As we gather together to pay tribute to the life of chloe mitchell, we come before god asking that he soothes our hearts knowing that she's at peace with the heavenly father. We'll take comfort in the promise that we are all god's children. We're all the same in his eyes, whatever our faults, our afflictions, our failures. Everyone in this room was warmed by her humor. Everyone witnessed the depth of her love for kevin, the devotion for her mother. And we will be forever grateful for the lasting legacy of adoration and joy she left us in her beautiful daughter. It is through bella that light will shine on.

Chelsea: I really wanted to be here. I hope you don't mind.

Kevin: What the hell are you doing here?

Kevin: How could you show your face here after what you did?

Chelsea: Kevin, please. Nick was just trying --

Michael: Kevin, stop.

Kevin: You were relentless! You tracked chloe down like she was some kind of animal because you had to make her pay?! She was so scared about what you were gonna do that she killed herself! You did this, nick. It is your fault chloe's dead!

Lily: Great. Thank you so much.

Cane: You look excited.

Lily: Yeah, of course I am. The campaign is back in full swing.

[ Chuckles ] Honey, look, I meant what I said before, that the family is enough for me. But if I'm being honest, I would have missed working on the hockey project.

Cane: Looks like we're gonna keep you busy this summer, huh?

Lily: You think we'll shoot another commercial?

Cane: Yeah, yeah, I think once we prove ourself to the league and we smooth things over, absolutely. But this time I will set it up so I'll be by your side.

Lily: I would love that.

Cane: That way I can keep an eye on things and make sure there's no mistakes, okay?

Lily: I love that idea, and i love you.

Cane: I love you. I love you, baby.

Hilary: Juliet. Hi. How are you?

Juliet: Better than the last time we spoke. I feel stronger, more in control.

Hilary: Well, that's really good to hear.

Juliet: Kind of amazing since I ran into billy earlier.

Hilary: Ugh. How did that go?

Juliet: I told him I harbor no animosity toward anyone at brash & sassy.

Billy: So we're talking about a cross-platform promo blitz starting...

[ Knock on door ]

Victoria: Come in!

Victoria: Oh, my god. We're being sued.
