Episode # 11168 ~ Jack stacks the cards against Billy; Devon is blindsided by Dina; Sharon is ready to move on.
Provided By Suzanne
Mariah: Hi. You were in this position when I left you this morning. Have you moved?
Sharon: Yeah. I mean, I had to get a refill. And lunch.
Mariah: Yeah, that doesn't really count.
Sharon: My psych final is due. I need to get all of this into here.
Mariah: Sharon, you're gonna ace it.
Sharon: I don't know. I haven't taken a final exam in... well, it's been a very long time.
Mariah: Well, you need to take a break, get some fresh air. Let the information actually sink in.
Sharon: Yeah, maybe you're right.
Mariah: Well, I would love to join you for a walk, but I have a date, and I got to get changed, like, now. [Chuckles]
Sharon: [Sighs]
[Doorbell rings]
Devon: Hey, Sharon.
Sharon: Devon, hi. Come on in.
Devon: Thank you.
Sharon: Um, Mariah's just upstairs getting changed. I'm sure she'll be down here in a minute.
Devon: Yeah, no problem.
Sharon: So... you guys are getting pretty serious.
Devon: Yeah.
Lauren: Scott?
[Door slams]
Lauren: Hey. What's wrong?
Scott: My new job.
Lauren: Your new job? Didn't Victor just cancel the book the other day?
Scott: He found me another assignment.
Lauren: Really? Doing what?
Scott: Working at Newman. You're looking at the, uh... let me make sure I get this right. The new senior V.P. of special projects.
Lauren: [Chuckles] That's amazing!
Scott: Yeah, not when your "special project" is his daughter Abby.
[Door slams]
Abby: I cannot believe you. I cannot believe that you went behind my back and talked to dad. What I said about Scott, I said in confidence.
Ashley: Your father told you.
Abby: Yeah, he told me. You know, you give me all of this advice about how to handle the situation, and then you hightail it over there to confront him -- why?
Ashley: I've worked with him and lived with him. I know when he's up to something, okay? And you're my daughter. If you tell me that you feel undermined and unappreciated, then, you know what, my mom instincts are gonna kick in.
Ashley: I am not 5 years old. I am a senior executive at a fortune 500 company.
Ashley: Well, if it's any consolation, Scott didn't mention anything about... having to keep tabs on you.
Abby: Yeah, yeah. Like he's gonna admit that's why dad hired him.
Ashley: I think he's an honest person. He sees to have a lot of integrity. I can't imagine he'd be involved in some kind of a devious plan like that.
Abby: He owes dad his life. And he obviously despises me. I'm sure he's drooling at the thought of finding proof that I'm not this trustworthy, loyal daughter.
Ashley: Well, only if there's proof to be found. Is there?
Juliet: We're looking forward to working with you, as well. Okay. Talk to you later. Bye. Ad agency in L.A. They will have the storyboards by the end of next week.
Billy: Perfect. It's all coming together. This commercial's gonna pay off big time.
Juliet: It'll have to in order to recoup the money we're spending.
Billy: Oh, come on. You've been hanging out with cane too much. Oh, I'm sorry. I know. You admire him.
Juliet: [Sighs]
Billy: I won't say anything unprofessional. You know what, I give you permission to poke me every time I say something unprofessional about cane.
Juliet: Poke you?
Billy: Yeah. Or pinch. You know, either way. Whatever works. Doesn't matter how I feel about him personally. We work here together as a team, and brash & sassy's success is most important, even if some of us are willing to take risks. Other ones, specifically from the outback, not really into -- what was that for?
Juliet: I thought that was a test.
Billy: Right. It was. You're a good listener.
Juliet: [Sighs]
Billy: Congratulations. I guess it doesn't take me long to jump on the anti-cane bandwagon, does it?
Juliet: [Scoffs]
Billy: [Sighs] All right.
Juliet: Thank you for this opportunity.
Billy: For what? Pinch me? Poke me? No problem.
Juliet: [Chuckles] No, to work on the commercial.
Billy: Hey, it's a no-brainer. You're doing fantastic work. Honestly. Okay. I'm out of here. Gonna go hang out with the kids at Victoria's.
Juliet: I really admire the relationship you and Victoria have -- working together, co-parenting. You two make it look so easy.
Billy: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, it's taken us a while, but we found a way to peacefully coexist.
Jack: Billy's immaturity strikes again. Heard about the elevator incident. I'm sorry. It's no way to find out. If Billy could just be an adult and keep his hands to himself in the workplace -- but I guess that's asking too much of Genoa city's resident lothario.
Victoria: Jack.
Jack: All I'm saying is nobody -- nobody with any feeling, that is -- would blame you for giving him the pink slip.
Victoria: Well, jack, you know, your concern warms my heart. But I am not drowning my sorrows over Billy and Phyllis, and I'm not about to fire the man that's gonna make my company a fortune.
Phyllis: Knock, knock. I'm looking for Billy.
Juliet: You just missed him. Oh, hi. Phyllis.
Phyllis: Juliet. We met at top of the tower.
Juliet: Briefly. It was getting "a little too crowded" for you.
Phyllis: Ah, that's right. That's right. Billy speaks very highly of you. He's very excited about this commercial. I'm surprised he's not here working on it. Do you know where he went?
Juliet: Victoria's house.
Scott: Victor wants to know who Abby works with, what tasks she keeps or delegates, and when she's less than transparent.
Lauren: [Chuckles] Well, that actually sounds like spying.
Scott: Officially, we're a team. I bring the "real world" experience, she brings business know-how. And together, we will elevate Newman to greater heights.
Lauren: [Scoffs] So that's the story that he sold Abby?
Scott: She didn't buy it for a second.
Lauren: Mm-hmm.
Scott: I mean, Abby may be vapid and shallow, but she isn't stupid, unfortunately. She knows I'm just a glorified babysitter, and, uh, she resents it.
Lauren: I wouldn't exactly describe her as vapid and shallow.
Scott: You've met her, right?
Lauren: She could learn a lot from you. And you, in turn, could learn a lot from Victor.
Scott: You know, I agree with the former part of that statement, but the, uh, the latter however, eh...
Lauren: All right. All right. Well, let me show you a different kind of perspective. You know, honey, I think this is an amazing opportunity for you. Victor came from nothing, and built his empire with his own two hands. If you are going to dive into the corporate world, there is no one better to learn from than Victor Newman.
Scott: There's you.
Lauren: And I'm very flattered. But --
Scott: But we both know why I have to work at Newman and not Fenmore's -- you gave me life. Victor saved it. And I owe him, but... it's a debt I'll never be able to repay.
Lauren: You're sitting here because of Victor. We went to him out of desperation. And he did not owe me or Michael, and he barely knew you, yet he paid the ransom.
Scott: I know. I know. I know. And I actually like the man, despite his many contradictions. Probably because of them. I'm not trying to be ungrateful, you know? I just -- it's not what I --
Lauren: I know. I know. I know this isn't the life that you saw for yourself.
Scott: Wearing my suit? Going in to an office every day and keeping track of a trust-fund baby? No. It's not my dream job.
Lauren: But after everything that Victor has done for us... can it just be enough? For now?
Ashley: You're keeping something from me, and you have been for a while. I can always tell.
Abby: Just because I don't tell you ever detail of my life doesn't mean I'm keeping secrets.
Ashley: What about that tech incubator project, Abby?
Abby: He rejected it. You already know that.
Ashley: I do know that. Your father rejected it. I also know that you were talking about being anxious and nervous, something about problems that couldn't be fixed concerning it. And then you ran out of here before I could get clarification or even offer you my support.
Abby: Yeah, there you go again, sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.
Ashley: You are my daughter.
Abby: I am an adult. I don't need you to protect me. [Sighs]
Ashley: Okay. Maybe I am a little overprotective of you sometimes. Your father pretty much told me the same exact thing.
Abby: He did? Well, um, what else did he say?
Ashley: That you were overreacting, and that working with Scott would make you a more well-rounded executive.
Abby: Well, it'll certainly make me a more patient executive. [Scoffs] Scott is a condescending jerk. And now that he knows mommy ran to Daddy, yeah, it's only gonna make things worse. Do you know what you've done to my reputation?
Phyllis: So... Billy's at Victoria's?
Juliet: Yep.
Phyllis: Did he say why?
Juliet: To see the kids.
Phyllis: Right. The kids. Of course. [Chuckles] It must be so weird for you to see all these exes running around this building, working here. Some of the exes who are dating each other.
Juliet: Eh, I'm a go-with-the-flow kind of girl.
Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, me too. That's why I totally support Billy spending time with the kids. You know, 100%. It's important to him.
Victoria: The commercial, shooting in L.A., Hiring the high-profile director -- that's all Billy.
Jack: Bully for him.
Victoria: Mm-hmm. I should be thanking you, too.
Jack: Me?
Victoria: Well, yeah. We wouldn't be here right now if you hadn't so graciously conceded the hockey contract.
Jack: Gee, I think I liked it better when I thought you were crying into your wine.
Victoria: Oh, please. I am not gonna waste any time worrying about Billy and Phyllis' on-again, off-again romance. Between work and the kids, we'll be spending a lot of time together, so we should bury any hostility that we might feel for one another.
Jack: Boy, that's awfully magnanimous of you.
Victoria: Well, who knows how long it's gonna last between the two of them, anyway, right?
Jack: Well, for what it's worth, I think Phyllis is in this for the long haul. She thinks the two of them have been put to the test, and they've passed with flying colors. It's all gonna be clear sailing from here.
Victoria: That's not gonna happen. We both know that she can only keep up this spontaneous, no-pressure attitude for long. And when it implodes, I just want things to get back to normal with Billy as soon as possible.
Jack: So that begs the question -- are you keeping him at brash & sassy for business or personal reasons?
Scott: I'm just not used to being stationary. I-I like being able to pick up and go at a moment's notice. Going places that people won't go, you know? Seeing stories and horrors that no one even thinks about.
Lauren: And those stories have helped so many people. And you've given those people a voice. But, honey, we live in very perilous times.
Scott: Which is why I need to get back out there and write about these injustices, these threats to civil liberties. There are stories that have to be told. More people that need me to be their voice.
Lauren: But it is so dangerous.
Scott: I know you worry.
Lauren: I worry a lot. I worry about your brother, fen, who's just a few states away, but... but you... I feel guilty.
Scott: Guilty?
Lauren: I sent you away when you were very young. I kept moving you all around so Sheila couldn't find you. And, uh... I'm wondering, did I create this wanderlust inside of you? You can't settle down. You crave this vagabond lifestyle.
Scott: No. All that was to protect me, mom. I became a journalist because it was like a calling. Something I -- I had to help.
Lauren: You remind me of your dad. [Chuckles] It's the reason he became a doctor. To help patients that other people wouldn't. [Sighs] He was the most compassionate man I've ever met in my entire life. But I don't want to lose you, too.
Scott: Oh, Mom. I'm sorry for the sleepless nights I cause you. Come here.
Lauren: [Sighs] Listen, um... if Newman doesn't pan out, will you stay in Genoa City?
[Door opens, knocking]
Phyllis: Hey.
Lauren: Oh. Hi.
Phyllis: Hi. Uh, I thought we had a meeting, but I can come back another time. No problem.
Scott: No, no, no. It's fine. I -- I got stuff to do.
Scott: Bye. How are you, Phyllis?
Phyllis: I'm good.
Scott: Good.
Jack: I thought you and Billy were getting closer.
Victoria: We were. But I had to push him away.
Jack: Had to?
Victoria: I should get going. Can I get the check, please?
Jack: Victoria --
Victoria: Look, can you just leave it alone?
Jack: Look, I know you're upset --
Victoria: It was a family thing. That's all you need to know.
Michael: I marked Dina's counteroffer.
Neil: Michael, this right here is substantially more than what we offered.
Michael: It's the opening volley. You know how this works. But this is where it gets really interesting. There are additional provisions that I doubt she mentioned during the initial meeting.
Neil: Oh, no. No! This -- no! She can't be serious with this.
Sharon: I saw Hilary's show. Um, when she talked about the divorce, and she took her ring off?
Devon: Yeah.
Sharon: She seemed genuine when she wished you well.
Devon: I think she also just knows how to make good TV.
Sharon: Still, I... I know how hard it must have been.
Devon: To tell you the truth, Sharon, our marriage was over long before the court made it official. She, uh -- all of her lies and schemes just finally caught up to her. But we were separated before Mariah and I started dating.
Sharon: You know Mariah is not like Hilary.
Devon: No, she's not. Not at all.
Sharon: She made some mistakes when she first came to town, but -- but she learned from them. She's a different woman. She's honest. She's trustworthy. Mariah really deserves to be happy.
Mariah: Hey.
Devon: Hey, you. How you doing?
Mariah: I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.
Devon: Not at all. [Smooches] I'd wait all day for you. You look beautiful.
Mariah: Oh, look at this sweet-talker. [Chuckles] What were you two talking about?
Sharon: Oh, I was just asking Devon what he has planned for tonight. What, another tour of the city in your private jet?
Devon: No, no, no, no, no. I was thinking something a little more low-key tonight.
Mariah: What's low-key to you? Is that a yacht? Hot-air-balloon ride? What?
Devon: Hey, I was thinking, how about your own hay ride?
Mariah: [Gasps]
Devon: Huh?
Mariah: I love it. That trumps everything. But do you think I'm a little overdressed? Should I change into overalls?
Devon: No. No, no, no. We'll figure something out. Don't worry about it.
Mariah: All right. Well, let's get to it.
Devon: Let's do it.
Mariah: I will see you later.
Sharon: Bye. Have fun.
Devon: Have a good night. Thank you.
[Cell phone chimes]
Devon: [Sighs] Oh, man... oh, this can't be good.
Jack: When you say "a family thing," are you referring to Nikki and Victor?
Victoria: Jack, would you please leave it alone?
Jack: I only ask because of the conversation I had with your mother recently. Where she asked for my advice in getting her "mojo" back.
Victoria: Did she actually use that word?
Jack: An exact quote.
Victoria: When was this?
Jack: Let's see. Your father was out of town on one of his mysterious sabbaticals. No one knew where he was or when he was coming back. Maybe one of these times he'll come back, and Nikki will have wised up and left him.
Victoria: Well, wouldn't that be something? I hate to break it to you, but their marriage is rock-solid.
Jack: Then what were you referring to?
Victoria: Jack, I simply misspoke. It was the wine. Trust me, the Newmans are as strong and as united as always.
Jack: "It was the wine"?
Ashley: Honey, I assure you, your reputation is in tact. My conversation with your father has not altered it one bit.
Abby: So you don't think dad's gonna hold it against me, or that Scott's gonna make some snarky comment?
Ashley: I really don't. And Scott, why would he mention it? He wouldn't.
Abby: You know, you're saying all the right things, but I -- I just don't think that you get it. Do you know how humiliating that was? I mean, if your mother had done something -- I'm sorry.
Ashley: It's okay.
Abby: Oh, god.
Ashley: It's okay, honey.
Abby: Here I am, complaining about my mom caring too much, when you grew up without a mom. I'm sorry.
Ashley: It's okay. I had a very loving and caring father who more than made up for the fact that my mother wasn't present.
Abby: I know, but it's not the same, is it?
Ashley: Let's get back to the Scott situation, okay? When Traci and I were younger, she used to always follow me around, and it used to make me crazy. And I begged my dad, "please, could you get Traci to stop asking to tag along all the time?"
Abby: And did he?
Ashley: No. Just the opposite. He thought I should include Traci with me and my friends, because if she experienced what I was doing, she wouldn't want to do it anymore. And you know what? He was right. I invited her to go to the mall with me and my girlfriends. And it never happened again, because she much preferred staying at home and reading her books than being with a bunch of giggly girls talking about silly boys. I think if you apply that same rationale to the Scott situation, you might get similar results.
Abby: If I immerse him...
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Abby: ...In all of my duties at Newman...
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Abby: 'Cause you know he hates the corporate world, so he's gonna get bored, he will quit, and -- oh, my god, grandpa john is a genius.
Ashley: [Laughs] He was a genius. He was. He also told me that I couldn't run to him every time I had a problem, because there were some things that a parent could not fix for their child. I guess that's something that we both learned today. And I'm just sorry it's taken me a little longer to get there.
Abby: Well, I am very lucky to have you as my mom.
Ashley: Aw, come here. Love you, honey.
Abby: I love you.
Devon: So, she can just do this -- ambush us with demands like this?
Neil: Yeah, she can.
Mariah: I thought this was a done deal after the meeting in Paris?
Michael: Oh, that was just the beginning of a long and complicated dance.
Neil: Hey, Devon.
Devon: [Sighs] Yeah?
Neil: We are not giving up, okay? Dina is one cold negotiator.
Michael: Oh, that's an understatement. She gives Victor Newman a run for his money.
Neil: Come on. You know me. I've been in this situation a million times. You can count on me. Trust me, all right? We need to be prepared, go over this whole thing line by line. And we're gonna start tonight.
Devon: Hey.
Mariah: Hey.
Devon: Some date, right? I apologize for all this. I can have a car take you home.
Mariah: Are you kidding me? Watching Genoa city's greatest business minds pick apart a contract is exactly what I was hoping for tonight.
Devon: Sure.
Mariah: I am going to order pizza. Does that sound good?
Neil: Double cheese for me.
Michael: No, no, no, no. I am having dinner with my beautiful wife. You let me know if you have any questions.
Neil: Hey, thanks, Michael. Appreciate it.
Michael: You got it.
Devon: Yeah. Thank you, Michael.
Michael: Take care.
Devon: Let's get started.
Neil: Yeah. Let's go. Okay. You see this right here?
Devon: Yeah.
Neil: This reads like the contract's a no-go if we don't agree. This has to be mutually beneficial for everyone involved. If there's something we don't like, we speak up.
Devon: Well, what if Dina doesn't budge?
Neil: We walk away.
Lauren: Can I have the quarterly report? Phyllis?
Phyllis: Hmm? Yeah?
Lauren: Honey, can I have the quarterly report?
Phyllis: Oh, yeah. Here you go.
Lauren: Thank you.
Phyllis: Sure.
Lauren: Uh, that's the regional one.
Phyllis: [Sighs]
Lauren: You want to talk about it?
Phyllis: Victoria. Um, she just... you know, she's acting all nonchalant that Billy and I are back together, but I think it's a bunch of malarkey.
Lauren: Why?
Phyllis: I just ran into her at brash & sassy, and, uh, you know, I was apologizing for my behavior. You know, for when she found us on the elevator. I was trying to step up, you know, be an adult. And then she told me about how, you know, a lot of women wouldn't like their boyfriend spending so much time with his ex, and dealing with the kids. And then she told me that she's gonna be going to L.A. with Billy, and that she's gonna make it a trip to remember. So either she wants him back or she's gonna punish him for choosing me.
Lauren: And this has you feeling insecure.
Phyllis: I mean, especially with Victoria, the way she's been playing games a lot lately.
Lauren: What kind of games?
Phyllis: She told Billy that she had to handle a family emergency. That's why she asked for space. But that turned out not to be true.
Lauren: She lied?
Phyllis: Yes, right to his face. She said that Nikki was having an M.S. Flare-up. But the thing is, when jack saw her the same day, he said that she was the picture of health, that there was not a hint of anything wrong with her.
Lauren: Why would she lie about that?
Phyllis: I don't know. But whatever the reason, the Newmans now are under jack's microscope. And he is convinced that Nikki and Victor are having trouble. He just can't figure out what it is.
Lauren: Oh, great. My son just got out of one war zone and just landed in another one.
Phyllis: Yeah. Okay.
Lauren: Would you like my advice about Billy?
Phyllis: Yes, please. I just -- I don't know. Please.
Lauren: Okay.
Phyllis: [Sighs]
Lauren: You believe in the love that you have with each other. And don't let those outside influences get you down and make you doubt.
Phyllis: Thank you. That is what I needed to hear. Come here. Thank you.
[Door opens]
Michael: Ooh. [Laughter] Care to make it a group hug?
Phyllis: Oh, I-I got to get going. But I'll see you soon?
Michael: All right.
Phyllis: All right. Okay. Bye.
Michael: Rough day?
Lauren: I, uh, had a long talk with Scott.
Michael: Mm.
Lauren: You know, and I think I've got a clear picture as to the kind of man that he's become, and what he wants with his life.
Michael: And...?
Lauren: And I don't think he's found a reason to stay in Genoa city.
Sharon: Yes, phobias aren't going to be on the final.
[Doorbell rings]
Sharon: I know! Oh, and what about the six main points of view of modern psychology? Oh, those aren't gonna be on the exam? Oh, okay. Well, then, I won't spend any more time on those. All right. I have to go right now, but I will check in with you later. Okay. Bye.
Scott: I didn't mean to interrupt. If you need to study, I can just...
Sharon: No, I have just been at it nonstop since this morning.
Scott: Then it's a good thing I stopped by. You can take a breather and, uh, let all that info sink in.
Sharon: Yeah. You know, Mariah said the same thing. She suggested I take a walk.
Scott: Did you take her advice?
Sharon: I opened a window and let fresh air in.
Scott: Eh, it's not the same thing. Uh, is she here? We can gang up on you and take you out of the house for a while.
Sharon: Uh, no. She went out on a date with Devon Hamilton.
Scott: Ohh.
Sharon: He just picked her up a little while ago.
Scott: I assume he passed the mom test?
Sharon: I don't really have to test Devon. He's a great guy. You know, I admit I have concerns. This is the first real boyfriend she's had in a while, and he does come with some baggage.
Scott: A lot of the good guys do.
Sharon: Well, I guess I'm always stuck between trying to give Mariah her space or smothering her to make up for lost time.
Scott: You know, my mom could write the, uh, book on that subject.
Sharon: Mm, well, then there would be two best-selling authors in the family. How's Victor's biography going?
Scott: It's...not.
Sharon: Mm. Writer's block? You know, you could show me what you've written, and I could give you some ideas.
Scott: He actually, uh, canceled the project.
Sharon: Why?
Scott: Uh, supposedly his wife thinks it's gonna cause issues with the family.
Sharon: Nikki talked him out of it? That is hard to believe.
Scott: That's the reason he gave me.
Sharon: Well, do you have anything else lined up?
Scott: I do.
Sharon: Excellent!
Scott: [Clears throat] I am working at Newman enterprises.
Sharon: Excellent...
Scott: Yeah, Victor thought it'd be a good idea to pay back my debt by, uh, putting on a suit and tie and working with Abby.
Sharon: Being stuck in a foreign country doesn't sound so bad right now, does it?
Scott: Not at all. [Chuckles]
Billy: Flopsy, mopsy, and cotton-tail were really good bunnies. They went down the lane to gather blackberries.
[Mimics gunfire]
Victoria: Hi, kids!
Johnny: Mommy!
Billy: Hey.
Victoria: Hi, baby.
Billy: What are you doing? You gonna go say hi to mommy? Oh, one more, huh? Oh, it didn't stay!
Victoria: Did you have fun with your daddy?
Billy: Yeah, we did. We had a good time.
Katie: Mommy!
Victoria: Hi, baby. Oh!
Billy: Played hide-and-go-seek, played a little dress-up.
Victoria: Oh, yeah? I see that, uh, dress-up.
Billy: Oh, right.
Victoria: Hey, guys. Go upstairs and wash your hands, 'cause it's almost time for dinner.
Billy: Ow!
Victoria: Sorry. And, uh, but give your dad one last hug.
Billy: Come here. Come here. Come here, come here, come here. I want to say bye. Come here. Bye. Mwah! I love you.
Johnny: Ha!
Billy: Don't run.
[Kids yelling]
Billy: They don't listen.
Victoria: Uh-huh.
Billy: So, uh, quick brash & sassy progress report. The commercial is on track. Everything looks really good.
Victoria: Well, with you in charge, how could it not be?
Billy: Thank you. Means a lot that you believe in me.
Victoria: Yeah. Hey, you know, I was thinking that maybe, while we're there, we could have a little fun in the sun.
Billy: Yeah.
Victoria: With the kids, I mean. You know, we could, um... maybe after the commercial shoot is over, we can take a few days off and go down to san Diego, and maybe go down to the zoo and some of the amusement parks, and...?
Billy: Yeah, yeah. I think we should just kind of wait and see how L.A. Goes first. I don't know if we're gonna have time for another trip.
Victoria: Oh, right. Yeah. Of course. I mean, I won't mention anything to the kids until we know for sure.
Billy: Okay. Uh... I'll see you back at the office.
Victoria: [Sighs] Okay.
Billy: Vick, it... it sounds like a really good time, though.
Victoria: Yeah.
Billy: Okay.
Billy: Hey. Whoa.
Phyllis: [Gasps] Hi. Oh, no, no, no. No.
Billy: What do you mean no? Where you going? Hey.
Phyllis: This is a neutral zone -- no, no, no! We don't want to antagonize jack. No! No! Don't! Don't! No lip lock.
Billy: [Sighs] Hand shake?
Phyllis: [Laughs quietly] Stop! How was your time with Victoria and the kids?
Billy: It was fun. We had a really good time, actually. Victoria wasn't there. It was just me and the kids. And a few aliens that we had to vanquish.
Phyllis: Oh. Okay. Victoria didn't supervise?
Billy: No. No, after we had our little conversation, she's been really good about giving me some alone time with them.
Phyllis: Oh. I actually ran into her earlier. She told me about the commercial shoot in L.A. She sounded very enthusiastic about it.
Billy: Yeah? Good. It's gonna be great. We have a hotshot director, a few players are gonna be in the commercial with lily.
Phyllis: Mm. You know, you're gonna be working very, very hard, so, um, I'm thinking afterwards you might want to relax. What do you say we go to a, um, desert spa getaway -- with mud baths, massages, laying in the sun -- just you and me?
Jack: I can see why she might be upset with you, but Abby's a very lucky young woman to have a mother who's always got her back.
Ashley: Well, thanks. Well, I can't help but be concerned about her, you know?
Jack: Of course. She's Victor Newman's daughter. You know all too well what he's capable of.
Ashley: Well, you've been spending a lot of time with Abby lately.
Jack: I always enjoy spending time with my niece. Even though you think I have some nefarious purpose.
Ashley: I never said that, jack.
Jack: "Shady things" is I think what you said I was filling your daughter's head with.
Ashley: I'm not gonna apologize for not wanting my daughter to get caught in the cross fire between our two families.
Jack: Your daughter is a very smart young woman, just like her mother. Yes, she is part Newman, but she's mostly Abbott. And I'm telling you, that young woman is going to surprise us all.
Abby: Hi. Uh, yes. Can I please speak to Madame Mergeron?
Neil: We need to identify Dina's must-haves and her disposables, you know what I mean?
Mariah: Why don't you just ask her? Yeah. I mean, you guys made a connection with her. That's why she agreed to sell you guys the company in the first place. So instead of all of this back-and-forth, why don't you just ask her exactly what she wants? And if it's something you're willing to give, then great. You've got a company. And if not, then you've saved yourself a lot of time.
Devon: That makes a lot of sense.
Neil: Can't hurt to try, can it? Let me call her.
Neil: [Clears throat] Hi. This is Neil winters. Uh, may I please speak with Madame Mergeron?
Dina: Dina Mergeron. Hello?
Neil: Okay. Please let her know that I called. My son and I are anxious to speak with her as soon as possible, all right? Thank you. Well, we called.
Abby: Hi. Uh...hi. I-I'm calling regarding the sale of your company.
Dina: I'm already in negotiations, and not entertaining other offers.
Abby: Not even one from Newman enterprises?
Dina: Newman enterprises? [Laughs] Well, well, well. I wondered how long it would take Victor to come sniffing around.
Neil: Acquiring Mergeron enterprises? It's gonna be huge.
Devon: And, hey, you know what, if Dina wants to play hardball with us, we can play hardball right back at her.
Neil: Here's what I want us to do. We're gonna regroup tomorrow. In the meantime, I want you to enjoy your evening with your lovely lady. Hey, Mariah.
Mariah: Yes?
Neil: Make sure this man keeps his eyes on you and not this paperwork.
Mariah: Yes, sir.
Neil: Okay. Love you, man.
Devon: Love you, too. Have a good one.
Neil: Yeah. Take care, Mariah.
Mariah: See ya. Unh-uh-uh. You heard the man.
Devon: [Chuckles]
Ashley: I've missed this. Being able to talk with you.
Jack: What do you mean? We talk all the time.
Ashley: No. We've been arguing all the time. And I really like being able to share my concerns about Abby with you. Seems like you're more focused on the family lately. Don't give me that look. You went to a very dark place. I'm starting to see a little light in your eye.
Jack: Yeah, things are definitely looking up.
Ashley: Think Abby's gonna be okay at Newman?
Jack: I do. I think Abby is a great commodity for any company, one I would always invest in.
Ashley: I just hope Victor realizes how hard she's working to prove herself to him. And to me.
Jack: Amazing, isn't it? No matter how old we get, we always want our parents' approval.
Abby: So, you're familiar with our company?
Dina: Of course. Victor and I go way back. But I'm surprised you don't already know that. You must be new.
Abby: Well, I-I've been here, um...
Dina: Oh, it doesn't matter. Tell Victor that he has all the feathers in his cap that he'll ever need... and he won't be getting his hands on mine. Did you get all that?
Abby: Yes, but, um --
Dina: Excellent. Oh, and, by the way, please give him my regards, hm? It's been far too long.
Billy: It would be a dream come true to spend that much time with you in L.A., but I wouldn't be able to concentrate. [Smooches] And this is a huge commercial. It needs to go off without a hitch.
Phyllis: I get it.
Billy: Mm. When I get back, I'll make it up to you. Full swanky spa. Mud baths. Seaweed. Steamin' up the steam room, if you know what I mean.
Phyllis: That's a lot of heat.
Billy: It always is when we're together. All right, I'm gonna kiss you now.
Phyllis: No!
Billy: Neutral zone, whatever. [Sighs]
Phyllis: Will I see you later?
Billy: All of me.
Phyllis: [Sighs]
Victoria: Yes, I'd like to book a trip to san Diego. Flight, hotel, tickets to the zoo and all the main attractions. Uh-huh. Uh... two adults, two children. Yeah. I-I know. I know. It's gonna be a dream vacation for our family.
Sharon: Germs. Fear of germs.
Scott: Correct.
Sharon: Yay! Yes!
Scott: Yes! Nice job.
Sharon: I wish the test were today. I mean, who knows if I'm gonna remember all of this later? What? What caught your eye?
Scott: Cleithrophobia. Fear of being trapped. That's how I felt when I was in Victor's office. After I left, I just wanted to keep going. Hop on a plane and never look back.
Sharon: Victor has that effect on people.
Scott: Yeah.
Sharon: You know, if you're not happy with the way things are going, then change them. You know, just because Victor helped you doesn't mean you have to put your life on hold. Find another way to repay him, one that doesn't involve being shackled to a desk. You're a free spirit, Scott. It's what I like about you. You go places and you do things that I can only dream of doing. Don't -- don't settle for an ordinary life. Not when you still have so much you want to accomplish. Um, I'm sorry. Since my husband left, I haven't even thought about kissing another man.
Scott: Well, you're thinking about it now. I know you are. It just feels right when we're together.
Next on "the young and the restless"...
Hilary: You deserve to know where we stand with each other.
Cane: Victoria's not gonna go for that.
Billy: Oh, she just did. So pack your bags. We're heading to Hollywood.
Victoria: Lying because of dad may have cost me a chance with Billy, but I think California might just be the place to get that back.
